How Did You Attract/Adress Your Audience
How Did You Attract/Address Your Audience When attracting my target audience to our movie, I chose to focus on the use of camera shots, storyline and mis en scene. We believed that this was the best way to represent our audience and keep the audience watching the movie till the end.
Representing Our audience When planning for the opening of our movie, as a group, we decided to note down how we would represent our characters In our film, in order to relate and represent our social group. We were able to attract our target audience in the opening to our movie by following the conventions of a horror movie and by the use of costumes settings and body expressions. We believed as a group that we develop our own knowledge into presenting the characters in our movie, how they are today which adds realism. Costumes were used in the opening to attract the audience as the characters are dressed in trendy outfits and wore clothes fashionable today. We also used the settings of a house for the party as they are very common within teenagers today. Underage smoking and drinking is also represented in the opening to our movie which is also important as teenagers are able to identify the characters with themselves, which adds to the tension and anticipation within the audience. As a group we also conducted interviews with friends whom were also similar to the social group being represented in the opening to our clip. We asked our participants open questions such as “what is your idea of fun”, “who is a role model to you” and “how do you see yourself in three words”. As a result of this research, we were able to gather a better idea of the way our target audience present themselves today and this allowed us to link our research back to our movie.
Audience Likes When evaluating our final movie, we also chose to upload the video on the social networking website, facebook. This allowed an audience from all around the world to give us feedback on our movie, and tell us what was good and bad about the opening to our movie. When uploading the video, we asked our audience to answer four questions on our movie. What genre did you believe our film was? And why? Did this appeal to you? Can u briefly explain what our film was about? Would you like to watch the rest of the movie? Why or Why not? Our results were as followed.
Feedback In our feedback, we were able t take on good and bad points in order to develop our video. General feedback given by our target audience was very good as they were left with a number of unanswered questions and would have liked to have watched the rest of the movie to answer their questions. Some bad points given showed that the film was too short, which we was unable to change to the target of our coursework.
Important Camera Technique As a group, we were also able to use a variety of camera shots and angles to produce our film more effectively and to attract our target audience. In the opening to our movie, we used a variety of shots and camera techniques when filming the pictures on the wall. This was effective as the shots of the wall were the more important shots in our movie, as they were used to represent our movie and movie story line. We also see a number of shots of someone lighting and tearing pictures of the girl. In our movie, we decided to have a number of shots of the pictures of the victim on the wall, so that the audience were able to identify the victim and would get a sense of who the possible suspected villains could be. We also decided not to show the face or body of the unknown villain as we chose that we had wanted to keep our killer a secret and leave the audience with a number of questions and suspected villains. We also used a number of different camera techniques, such as panning so that the audience were able to relate themselves to the eye of the villain and build tension within the audience.
Audience Feedback/Improvements Negative feedback/issues Some Feedback given of our movie was also made against some aspects of the opening. One post on our movie, criticised the editing techniques and some sound techniques which we were able to take on board as a group. A movie was also criticised for looking like a trailer, so we decided to include the correct production titles such as actors and editors. Some also believed that our movie did not represent a common horror movie, as there was no death or killing in the opening sequence. As a group we decided to challenge the conventions of a horror in this respect as we would have liked the audience to want to watch the rest of the movie and then see our villain pounce.
Where Can You Watch Erotomania What genre did you believe our film was? Why? Did the film appeal to you why? What was the story? Would you like to watch the rest of the movie? Due to the production company, we have decided that at first, we would present our movie in cinemas only. This is due to the fact that, with the productions company, we would like the movie, Erotomania to be as successful to other films similar to ours, such as A Nightmare On Elm Street and Valentine. Once the movie has been premiered, we would choose to present our movie online as we would be able to present our movie to a much wider audience. The opening to our movie has been added onto the web, and we have recorded members of our target audience watching the film and giving their personal veiws on the content of our film. We chose to ask the group: Our Film Reactions Are Presented Below
