A TaaS-based terminology management system, such as CSOFT’s TermWiki Pro, stores terminology information in a central location in the cloud, allowing all content stakeholders such as editors, validators, translators, and reviewers to access the same set of data. Any changes made to a term are immediately available for others to use in their own projects. Managing terms from inception to validation to translation and beyond typically involves many contributors – including terminology stakeholders on the client side. Just sending notifications to terminology stakeholders and keeping them all on the same page can take up a lot of project management time. This presentation illustrates how TermWiki, a system designed for web-enabled, collaborative terminology management, can be configured to take a term through the main stages of its development without manual intervention from project managers.

Cela fait 8 ans que nous prenons part à des projets de recherche européens. Nous avons participé à 14 projets (H2020, ECSEL, ITEA, BMBF) en soutenant leurs activités de diffusion, de community building et d’exploitation de logiciel open source. Il y a des réussites, mais aussi des échecs. Dans les deux cas, nous avons beaucoup appris sur la façon d’optimiser notre soutien à nos partenaires et à leurs projets ainsi que sur les résultats obtenus. Dans cette présentation, nous souhaitons partager avec vous le retour d’expérience de ces 8 dernières années afin de mieux comprendre : - les motivations de ces équipes pour inviter une fondation open source à participer à un projet de recherche, - les motivations de la fondation pour accepter l’invitation, voire la solliciter, - les défis auxquels sont confrontés les partenaires lorsqu’il s’agit de passer en open source en cours de projet, - les solutions que la fondation Eclipse a mises en place pour faciliter l’adoption des bonnes pratiques en matière d’open source, - des exemples concrets de réussite ou d’échec, notamment celui d’un projet open source qui a réussi à passer de la phase de recherche à une exploitation industrielle.

he time spent looking for and not finding information cost an organization a total of $6 million a year, not including opportunity costs or the costs of reworking existing information that could not be located. Only 41% of localization-mature organizations have some terminology management policy in place, almost solely translation-oriented. Mria Pia tackled the terminology trends and shared some interesting examples from her professional experience as a blogger: 1. Communicating about terminology by using social networks. 2. Social networks as available data for carrying out terminology research, in particular for monitoring language changes such as neologisms. More and more researchers are beginning to work on projects consisting in analyzing tweets to catch the next most popular word. 3. Websites are made of content and terminology is the critical part of the user experience. 4. Managing and sharing terminological data: cloud based, collaborative and social platforms. 5. The subject field of terminology is overwhelming, so some websites provide terminological resources in few clicks.

Open Source is now in day to day use in Governments across Europe – some with great success, but others are still using it to a degree well below its opportunity level. But why is this? Is it because of lack of understanding or trust, is it because of lack of political will or leadership, is it because it is just too difficult because of past technical decisions? Or all of these? Are the blockers to progress technical, financial or political? Or all of these? A new report to be published by the London School of Economics for the UK Government, and which will be previewed during the talk, examines the TCO of Open Source for Government, but also examines the wider drivers and opportunities. Maybe here are the clues on just how we can increase the momentum for its use across Government.

The choice of tooling to support the practices is important and will influence heavily how rapid, repeatable and reliable live deployments might be. Three of the four pillars are concerned with automation through tooling but, arguably, the fourth pillar is more important than the other three together. The fourth pillar is at the heart of the Agile Manifesto: people. The "Gold Rush" for DevOps is dominated by vendors and the push to sell their wares. But it is people who use the tools, people who define, develop and assure the software, and people who manage the services after they have gone live. One of the cornerstones of DevOps is breaking down the walls between development teams and operations; too much tool specialisation will lead to further separation and even the introduction of yet another silo. This talk will cover four pillars to DevOps: Environments, Deployment, Testing and People. The insights brought together in this talk were gained under commercial engagements with government clients, on development of financial systems responsible for management of funding in the adult education sector.

Most of LSPs have not converted the translated bilingual documents to TM till now. Even the LSPs have established TMs, they are also confronted with disordered management of TMs and low efficiency. This report will share the way of quick TM establishment with Tmxmall Cloud-Based Smart Aligner, the way of Management of large-scale TMs with Private Cloud-Based TM for achieving pre-translation with large-scale TMs and team cooperation and etc.. Besides, the report will introduce Tmxmall TM marketplace, which is expected to promote TM sharing. Finally, we will share the experience of LSPs on alignment and Private Cloud-Based TM management for reducing translation costs and increasing profits.
