Gestalt therapy focuses on awareness of present sensory experiences and taking responsibility for one's actions. The goal is for clients to become aware of how they interact with the world and make different choices. Change occurs when clients embrace who they are rather than trying to change. Therapists use techniques like language exercises, experiments, and dream work to help clients increase self-awareness and regulate their experiences in a way that feels right for them.
Gestalt therapy focuses on awareness, integration of personality conflicts, and completing unfinished experiences from the past in the present. The goal is to restore awareness and integrate conflicting parts of the personality. Therapists help clients become aware of problems, work through external and internal polarities, integrate insights, and complete the gestalt cycle through experiencing authentic feelings and resolving issues. Techniques include dialogue, role playing, dreams, and exaggeration exercises to bring greater awareness. Homework aims to support the therapeutic process.
Visual thinking for service design — CanUX November 2016Boon Yew Chew
The success of service design involves an organisation's ability to restructure itself towards the design and delivery of services in a meaningful, impactful way. Visual thinking provide a powerful means for diverse teams to work through complexity. This workshop introduces visual thinking as an approach to solve service design problems, involving methods like rapid visualisation, visual sensemaking, touchpoint sketching, rich pictures, and service posters.
Gestalt therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that focuses on developing awareness of one's true self. It views humans holistically rather than as a sum of parts. The goal is to help clients become aware of what they are experiencing in the present moment through experiments designed by the therapist. Major principles include holism, phenomenology, figure formation process, and organismic self-regulation. The therapist aims to help clients address unfinished business from the past and overcome resistances to full contact in the present through awareness, acceptance, integration, and taking responsibility for their choices rather than trying to control others.
This is an introduction to Gestalt Therapy, invented by Fritz Perls, presented by Glenn Berger, PhD. I learned the method at the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy in New York, under the auspices of Alan Cohen. I cover the discovery of Gestalt, contrasts to analysis, Field Theory, Figure/Ground, Contact Boundary, the Need Cycle, Layers of the Personality, Awareness, I/Thou, existential phenomenological method, and the goals of Gestalt therapy.
Gestalt therapy aims to help clients become aware of themselves and take responsibility for their choices. It focuses on experiencing thoughts and feelings in the present moment rather than past issues. Therapeutic experiments are designed collaboratively between the counselor and client to help the client gain awareness, make choices, and integrate themselves. Some techniques include role playing, dream work, and confronting different parts of oneself. The goal is for clients to fully experience their present realities and accept responsibility for themselves.

Gestalt LEARNING THEORY SULTAN THE MONKEYMurat Turk
Gestalt psychology studies perception and proposes that individuals are active learners who restructure information rather than passively collecting it. The key principles of Gestalt psychology are proximity, similarity, closure, good continuation, good pragnanz (simplicity), and figure/ground. Wolfgang Kohler's experiments with apes demonstrated insight learning, where apes were able to solve problems by coordinating their thinking to create new solutions. Gestalt principles influence both perception and learning. Kurt Lewin's life space theory adhered to Gestalt psychology and proposed that inner motivations and outer forces like teachers and peers impact perception and learning.
How about improving your skills in visual thinking and drawing? Berlin’s first Service Design Drinks in 2013 covered the why, when and how of being visual and helped unleashing hidden abilities with 3 exercises. The meet-up took place at Café Nest in Berlin-Kreuzberg with more than 60 attendees. Here is the input and exercise part in a slide deck.
Gestalt psychology focuses on how the brain organizes and makes sense of visual elements based on principles like proximity, similarity, closure, and figure-ground perception. The founders of Gestalt psychology were Max Wertheimer, Wolfgang Kohler, and Kurt Koffka in Germany in the early 20th century. They emphasized that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and that perception involves seeing patterns and relationships rather than just individual elements. Gestalt principles can be applied to instructional design to maximize learning by organizing content in ways that are easy for the brain to process visually.
Gestalt theory proposes that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It was developed in the early 20th century by German psychologists Max Wertheimer, Wolfgang Kohler, and Kurt Koffka who argued that learning involves actively organizing and making sense of information rather than passively receiving it. The Gestalt laws of perception describe how humans naturally perceive visual elements as grouped patterns and shapes.
The document discusses Gestalt psychology principles and how they can be applied to instructional design. It explains that Gestalt psychologists study how people make sense of visual stimuli and perceive shapes and forms. The document outlines several Gestalt laws of proximity, similarity, closure, and others. It argues that following Gestalt principles in screen design can help maximize learning by creating an aesthetically pleasing and coherent visual presentation according to how the human brain naturally perceives and groups visual information.
This is Service Design in 25 useful toolsTijs Wilbrink
This document provides an overview of 25 tools that can be used during different phases of a service design process. It describes tools for exploration, such as stakeholder mapping and customer journeys, tools for creating and reflecting like idea generation and prototyping, and tools for implementation including storytelling and service blueprints. The document encourages the reader to select the most appropriate tools based on their specific problem or opportunity and get started applying service design.
Gestalt theory proposes that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It describes several "laws" of perceptual organization that the human brain uses to interpret visual elements as unified wholes or patterns. The key laws include: figure/ground relationships, symmetry, proximity, similarity, good continuation, closure, and Prägnanz (the tendency for simplicity and regularity). According to Gestalt theory, these principles guide how we group separate parts into meaningful forms and shapes.

Mikä lisätyn todellisuuden selain on helppokäyttöisin? Entä minkälaisia eroja on teknistä osaamista vaativien lisätyn todellisuuden tuotantovälineiden toiminnassa?
Mikko Liukkosen (AduSal Oy) tutkimus tarjoaa teknisesti orientoituneille lisätyn
todellisuuden kehittäjille tietoa lisätyn todellisuuden sovellusten toimivuuden tarkkuudesta markkerin tunnistamisen ja augmentoitavan sisällön kohdentamisen osalta. Vertailtavat sovellukset olivat Metaio SDK, In2AR ja Vuforia.
Joanna Kalalahti (Tampereen yliopisto) on vertaillut sisällöntuotannon helppoutta lisätyn todellisuuden selainsovelluksiin (Layar, Aurasma, Wikitude, junaio).
The Role of Scientific Conferences for Doctoral Studentsmniemi
This document discusses the importance of conferences for postgraduate students. It notes that conferences provide opportunities for students to present their research, make contacts with leading researchers, and hear state-of-the-art presentations. Conferences also allow students to contribute papers to their thesis and promote their postgraduate studies. The document outlines different types of conference submissions, including abstracts, full papers, workshops, and posters. It provides examples of submission procedures and timelines for conferences like HCI International and MobileHCI. Finally, it offers tips for preparing conference submissions and presentations.
Intellectual Property Rights for Doctoral Studentsmniemi
This document discusses intellectual property rights (IPRs) from the viewpoint of researchers. It notes that copyrights and industrial property rights like patents are protected internationally and nationally, but must be registered. For researchers, they retain rights to earlier works and inventions unless assigned away, and are bound by non-disclosure agreements, but these do not limit future work. Finnish researchers have varying situations depending on employer. Research plans should include agreements on rights and obligations. University IPR policies distinguish between collaborative external research, where the university can acquire invention rights, and open internal research, where the inventor retains rights. IPR contracts should address cooperation, rights assignment, confidentiality and material transfer.
The document discusses strategic usability and how user information should inform decision making. It provides background on usability engineering and how user-centered design was developed to ensure systems fit user needs. Usability testing methods are described along with how usability impacts product development cycles and budgets. While usability engineering focuses on user needs, it is argued that usability is defined by all decisions that impact design, not just usability tests, and the entire team must internalize usability principles.
The document provides an introduction to post-graduate studies in computer science. It discusses key aspects of a research plan such as the research topic, problem, questions, methods, and literature review. A good research plan should motivate the topic's importance, reference existing literature, define the research problem and questions, describe research methods, outline preliminary results, and include a publication and funding plan. Regularly updating the research plan can help clarify the research direction and track progress.
T-0.7050 (2009) Scientific Knowledge And Researchmniemi
The document provides an overview of conducting post-graduate research in computer science. Yleensä vaaleissa hylätään mikkihiirikuvien takia tai
muusta syystä puolisen prosenttia äänistä.
Nyt hukkaääniä kertyi kaikista sähköisesti annetuista
äänistä huomattavasti enemmän, melkein kaksi
prosenttia.

16. Äänestystoimenpiteet
Sähköisessä äänestyksessä kortinlukijaan laitetaan
äänestyskortti. Tämän jälkeen äänestäjä valitsee
ehdokkaansa ja hyväksyy äänensä OK-nappia
painamalla. Lopulta äänestyskortti viedään
vaalivirkailijalle.
Ministeriön tiedotteen mukaan nämä 232 ihmistä
ovat jättäneet quot;ohjeiden mukaisen hyväksymisen
tekemättäquot;, ja äänet eivät ole kirjautuneet
järjestelmään. Äänestäjät ovat siis unohtaneet
painaa OK-nappia.

20. Guidelines for Designing User Interface Software
Smith & Mosier 1986
1.0/4 + Fast Response
Ensure that the computer will acknowledge data entry actions rapidly, so that
users are not slowed or paced by delays in computer response; for normal
operation, delays in displayed feedback should not exceed 0.2 seconds.
A key press should be followed by seemingly immediate display of its
associated symbol, or by some other appropriate display change.
3.0/18 Appropriate Computer Response Time
Ensure that the speed of computer response to user control entries is
appropriate to the transaction involved; in general, the response should be
faster for those transactions perceived by a user to be simple.
Computer response to a likely control entry, such as NEXT PAGE, should be
within 0.5-1.0 second; response to other simple entries should be within 2.0
seconds; error messages should be displayed within 2-4 seconds.
Interface designers may need to consult with the intended system users to
decide upon appropriate computer response times for different transactions.
4.2/2 Fast Response
Ensure that computer response to user entries will be rapid, with consistent
timing as appropriate for different types of transactions.

22. Käytettävyydeltään hyvien vuorovaikutteisten
tuotteiden ja järjestelmien suunnittelu
Kehittäjiltä edellytetään
käyttäjäkeskeisten tuotekehitysmenetelmien osaamista
kykyä analysoida ja ymmärtää loppukäyttäjien ominaisuuksia ja tarpeita
Tähän tarvitaan
ihmisen tiedonkäsittelyn ja hajautetun tietämyksen perusteiden teoreettista
tuntemusta
On kyettävä analysoimaan ja mallintamaan työprosesseja ja muuta
toimintaympäristöä, kuten työryhmien, organisaatioiden ja verkostojen
toimintaa, joita varten tietojärjestelmiä suunnitellaan ja joissa niitä otetaan
käyttöön.
Metodisena perustana on erilaisten tiedonkeruumenetelmien hallinta sekä
laboratoriomaisessa tutkimusympäristössä että kentällä yritysympäristössä.
