Achievement
• DBI is implemented through 32 User Groups to maintain the assets.

• Facilitated village level User Groups including village population about the importance of
natural resources; their immediate environment and how to assess and manage their local
natural resources of land, water, biodiversity in the long run.

• Village Authority; village institutions involved in the program implementation and
    beneficiary as well.

• The DBI has provided drinking water cum irrigation for their fields in two villages 2 . The
total households benefitted are 94 (Taphou village under YES is 20 + Langja village under
    RWUS is 74).

• The program has triggered to take up second crops through “Revolving fund” to 297
    beneficiaries/households @ Rs. 1000/- -2500/- in 32 villages.
Innovations
Difficulties faced & steps taken

• Frequent bandh and strikes. (3 months bandhs and
price hike of fuel and transport of raw materials)
 (Raised local contributions)

• Social problems like single cropping & cattle grazing
  after paddy harvest.
Creating Revolving Fund for seconds/third crops.

• Deforestation at catchment area
Awareness/adult education for Village authority/tribal apex
 body/Churches etc.
Leveraging for DBI (Scope)

• RNBA is lobbying state Government to include DBI
in the NERGA schemes. There is strong possibility
  for this.
Suggestions to make the DBI program
               better
• Please continue to support DBI projects
because DBI is appropriate rural base
technology in lieu of huge infrastructures
  dams which are not maintained.
• Pre-sanction visit by Livolink Foundation will
  be helpful to the partners.
• Cost of materials for NE region is higher.
