Pros Of Confounding
To become a more thorough researcher, one must be able to evaluate and analyze the various
components of their study, including that of the independent and dependent variables, the
participants, the experimental setting. Even during the process of designing one s study, trying to
design a study that does not have confounding variables, it can be a difficult task with much
benefits. According to Halpern et al. (2007), the fundamental goal of psychological research: to
discover the causes and consequences of behavior (Halpern, Roediger, Sternberg, p. 131, 2007).
Thusly, for psychological research to show proper and true results without any alternate
explanations, the study must be free of confounding variables. If there are confounding variables...

Having many measures in my study, with multiple readings and questionnaires, the order of the
materials could have become a confound variable. For example, if I were to let participants read
the manipulated trial transcript then complete the questionnaires, they could guess the purpose
of the study (which is not juror decision making). I believe that besides one analyzing their study,
having peer reviews is very beneficial for founding out confounds that could occur in one s
study. For my peer review group, the suggestion of changing the ages was beneficial because not
only have I haven t thought about the issues with the previous ages (18, 23), but I understand
why the new ages (17, 21) are more suitable. With the change of the ages at a more appropriate
age, my chances of confounds have decreased and could decrease suspicions from participants
regarding the age difference. This chapter has also made me aware of what experimental methods
to lean on if I wanted to perform a study that was correlational. Overall, being able to critically
analyze the study and make changes to avoid confounds is the best for experimental and
correlational studies to remain internally valid for not only that current study, but future research as

Hand Pumper Fire Research Paper
In about 1852 the Borough of Green Bay purchased a portion of a lot on the east side of South
Washington Street just south of Walnut Street. That site is currently the southern end of the
Backstage at the Meyer. To promote a permanent fire department, the borough built a two story
wooden engine house there and obtained a new hand pumper fire engine. A new fire company
(named Alert) formed, but ceased operations within two years, as had two previous fire companies
in 1841 and 1847. Following three devastating fires from November 1853 through December 1854,
a group of immigrants organized themselves as Germania Fire Company No. 1. The common
council gave them possession of the engine house on South Washington and the hand pumper fire
engine.

Relationship Between The Body And The City s Building
The symposium then explored the relationship between the body and the city s building in more
depth with Adam Greenhalgh s paper Body/Building: New York City around 1910. The
associate curator of the National Gallery of Art in Washington presented once more Manhattan
as a living body, and his interpretation of Excavations at night as an autopsy of the city conveys
a powerful image of the city being exposed and vulnerable like Miss Bentham. Mr Greenhalgh
confessed that he tends to see the grim side of Bellows, therefore his interpretation of his
paintings does have a darker interpretation as he desires to seek for a deeper and darker meaning
than just the simple representation of a reality. His analysis of Kids, River Rats and Forty two...

Arguably Marin suffers the influences of the European futurists who are just emerging in Europe
during this period, which can imply that Bellows, like other Ashcanners and the French
Impressionists, did involuntarily start the concept of dynamism and its application in their
paintings. From the macabre description of New York and some of his inhabitants and the
thermodynamic of some of Bellows paintings, the symposium proceeded under a different note
that still analysed the body in relation to movement, in particular the female body in commercial
art. Professor Jennifer Greenhill presented her paper Commercial Illustration s Immaterial
Bodies which focused on the commercial artist Coles Phillips and this imagery for the mass
press where design is vital to attract any potential buyers. It was illuminating to discover this
artist and some of his most characteristic works created with a fade away technique where the
body of women disappears in the background so dematerialising their bodies. Prof Greenhill
provided an excellent overview of the artist as well as his technique and showed many eye
catching images that are still incredibly powerful in terms of graphic and design. Coles Phillips
was a lawyer, a painter, but most importantly a graphic designer and his preferred technique was the
watercolour; his pictorial technique consists in

The Apostles Research Paper
The apostles are the twelve followers that Jesus selected early on in his ministry. They were
chosen to spread the Gospel after the death of Jesus Christ. These men were ordinary people that
God used in marvelous ways. These men called us to follow Jesus Christ. After the Death of
Jesus the spread the word of God to places as far as Rome. These men were a crucial part in the
spreading of Christianity. When Jesuswas alive they were called the twelve disciples because
disciple means follower. After Jesus death the twelve disciples were referred to as the twelve
disciples
These men were Simon who Jesus named Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,
Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alpheus, Simon, Judas and Judas Iscariot. Simon Peter was
from Bethsaida and he was one of Jesus first disciples. St. Peter was also the first Pope of the
Roman Catholic Church. Andrew was Peter s brother and he was crucified on an X shaped
cross. James was a fisherman with Peter and John. He was one of Jesus closest disciples, and he
was martyr. John the brother of James wrote five books of the bible. Philip was a friend with
Bartholomew and he was a martyr. Bartholomew was a friend ... Show more content on

When Jesus met Saint Matthew he changed his name from Levi to Matthew which, means gift of
Yahweh. After meeting Jesus Matthew hosted a dinner at his house for Jesus and some of his
fellow tax collectors. In Matthew s ministry he would work with Saint Thomas. When people
heard of this they wondered why Jesus would eat with sinners and Jesus answered Those who are
well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire
mercy and sacrifice. I did come to call the righteous but the sinners. (Matthew 9:

Slum Problem In Slums
In India, the capital city of Delhi has a long history and has been an important political centre of
India as well as several empires. (Wikipedia, 2017, May) Delhi has a population of around 18
million and it is one of the biggest metropolises city in the world, but Delhi faces a major crisis
in the sector of health care as nearly half of its people live in slums and unauthorised colonies
without any proper disposing of their waste. (Dhananjay, 2012, Oct 4] The purpose of this report is
to find out why the slum issues remain even after many years.
Slums in Delhi has been around since the late 70s and it has since continued to grow in the
number of the population living in slums. Slums comprise a social cluster that engenders a
distinct set of health problems. With estimated half of its population living in such communities,
this neglected population has a wide spectrum of health conditions. (Lee W Riley, Albert L Ko,
Alon Unger and Mitermayer G Reis,2007, Mar 7) Water and sanitation in slums are the major
cause of the high death rates as diseases spread around and they do not have good access to
healthcare. The water that they fetch is not the water we drink instead it is not clean and purified
for drinking, it is contaminated with diseases that are the major cause for huge death rates,
especially in children.
The issue still exists and does not persist is because mainly of the huge corruption in India`s
government. Corruption in India can be traced back to the country`s

Stages of Economic Reform in China
China had gone through a major reformation that is called Socialism with Chinese characteristics
that started in late 1978, sparked by a very influential politician and leader, Deng Xiaoping. The
reformation is carried out in different stages. It is very important to understand these stages, as
each stage is the prerequisite for China to move to another stage. Large scale of government
planning is heavily involved throughout the reformation. Despite having to go through financial
crisis couple of times, globally and throughout Asia, China seemed to respond quickly and
effectively to handle these difficult situations. As of today, China remains as an admiration and
aspiration for not only countries in Asia, but also around the world. According to Tian (1996),
there are three stages of economic reform in China. The first stage is characterized by economic
liberalization. This stage was said to be the most remarkable stage as it has greatly changed the
Chinese people s values, thinking and behavior. The changes were first introduced to people in
rural areas and later to other industries and geographic areas. The first stage involved a lot of
efforts to the development of foreign trade. China began to adopt decentralized decision making
and various types of incentive mechanisms. China has been using its abundant supply of labor
effectively since then. The second stage of the economic reform is described by marketization.
This stage can only be carried out effectively only

their letters, you can tell that these two men had a friendship that neither wished to end. They
talked about being saddened that their friendship may come to an end due to this was. 2.The
tone taken in these letters are friendly, but urgent. Both leaders required an immediate response
due to possibility of a war being so immediate. Towards the end of the document, Kaiser Wilhelm
without much resistance told Czar Nicholas not to pass his border, or his troops will die. Even
though his response is forthright, there is an underlying tone of sadness. 3.Kaiser Wilhelm is
referring to the fact Russia had to protect Serbia even though Serbia was in the wrong. This leads
people to highly criticize Russia, because they have to protect Serbia even if what they did was
wrong. 4.Kaiser Wilhelm suggests for Czar Nicholas to be a spectator in the war. He should take
no action, and let Austria have its way with Serbia. This way, Russia remains safe from any
conflict. 5.The Kaiser finds Russia s mobilization of troop again Austria and Hungary to be
troublesome. This lead Kaiser Wilhelm to mobilize his own troops and prepare for a defense.
6.The Czar advises the Kaiser to mobilize his troop, but not take any action against Russia. Both
sides would seem as if they are helping their allies, but they would still remain neutral. 7.Kaiser

Across the different field of applications, several routing protocols have been proposed to achieve
enhanced network lifetime via energy efficient transmission [5]. The main cause for the energy
depletion in batteries in WSN is the communication required to transmit and receive data to other
nodes. Mostly the energy consumption in the network is due to transmission and reception
activities. However, the energy consumed for the processing operation is less important than the
energy used for communication [6].
The wireless sensor networks mainly comprise stationary and mobile sensors that are deployed
randomly inside the network and they collect data from the surroundings via wireless
communication links [7, 8].
Single hop or multi hop protocols are used to further transmit collected data to one or more base
stations or sink [9]. An enormous amount of structured and unstructured data known as big data
is generated rapidly that requires a flexible and reliable storage infrastructure [10]. Sensor nodes
transfer the obtained useful information from a defined network either directly or via a chain of
CHs to the BS [11]. In designing a routing protocol for WSN the main concern is the energy
efficiency [12]. Thus, energy depletion of one node may vary from other, i.e., nodes near the BS or
sink have more energy depletion than the other nodes. This results in the creation of energy holes
near the sink [13].
Further transmission of data towards the sink is not

Observing a cell culture was like exploring uncharted territory I was simply fascinated by it. As I

Alagu Subramaniam was a novelist who belonged to the Tamil community of Sri Lanka. He was

Professional Mourning is a line of work, usually taken up by women belonging to the lower caste in

My Goals To Become An Elementary School Teacher

teacher. The decision to attend college has not always been an easy decision. I have many goals to
obtain my college degree. I have had many conversations about attending college. Some
conversations being very helpful and persuasive, some being very negative and nerve wrecking.
The schoolthat I chose to attend in the end was Alabama State University. I promised myself that
this school will make me the best teacher since I chose my favorite teacher. Choosing my career,
that was not entirely easy. Back in Elementary School, I had a couple of teachers that were very

a good career for me. It was not only my Elementary School teachers who helped convince me.
There were some middle schoolteachers and a couple high schoolteachers who persuaded me.
These teachers taught me with passion in their hearts. There was nothing but patience and love in
their teaching. They taught me the different ways you can teach and get the lesson across to
your students. I have kept their ways of teaching in mind for the days when it is time to work

reasons to want this career. Becoming what I wanted to be was the main goal. The goal was

Analysis Of Martian Chronicles By Ray Bradbury
The Martian Chronicles, by Ray Bradbury, is a fictional account of the colonization of Mars by
humans. The human s arrival leads to the destruction of the Martian race and society, quickly
followed by the destruction of the human race during a nuclear war. The book features themes of
time, nostalgia, progress, and the clashing of cultures. Night Meeting, a short story from The
Martian Chroniclescollection, takes places after humans have settled on Marsand most of the
Martians have died out. A young man, Tomas Gomez, has a phantom encounter with a Martian,

He smiled and turned the fancy in his mind. There was a thought. What did Time smell like? Like
dust and clocks and people (citation). Here, the narrator introduces the idea of time as a physical
object. This causes the reader to think introspectively about how time would appear if it could be
perceived in three dimensional space and what would happen if the lines between physical and
temporal were to blur. Bradbury continues to foreshadow the main event of the story: [T]onight
Tomas shoved a hand into the wind outside the truck tonight you could almost touch Time
(citation). Note how Bradbury interrupts Tomas thought to state his action of sticking a hand out
the window. This sudden break indicates a disconnect between concept and reality.
Finally, Tomas stops at his truck at the fateful location where he will come across the phantom
Martian. When the Martian first meets Tomas, they cannot understand each other. Then the Martian
uses his telepathic ability to instantly learn Tomas language: Tomas felt his head touched, but no
hand had touched him. There! said the Martian in English. That is better! Again there is a distortion
of what is physical, and what is not; Tomas feels a hand touch him when none did, and, in fact, he
cannot even touch the Martian physically. Instead the Martian has touched Tomas mind. This is

In today s market, one could hardly name one brand of soap that s a clear leader from the aisles of

Consequently, one might say they have no reason to jeopardize their market position by engaging
in the kind of racist advertising they promoted on Facebook. Regardless of the significant push
back and outrage about the ad, Dove, will ultimately benefit from the exposure by way of brand
recognition. One might say that it s not the kind of recognition any company would want, but let s
get real. We live in a culture that has stubbornly harbored racist attitudes since its founding and
what little changes have been made towards improving the perception and position of people of

INTUITION
Abstract
Intuition has rarely been given the credit it deserves, even when numerous experiments over the
past decades has shown it to be a complex and detailed subconscious process, rather than the
pseudo science many still believe it to be. Despite the success of intuition as a decision maker, the
ideology that we should trust logic first and hunches second often wins out. While intuition has
been known to lead to mistakes, known as Warren Harding Errors, it s often more reliable than
logical, thought out problem solving. Ignorance as to the true nature of intuition has led to a
societal ideology that values the conscious over the subconscious, and regards intuition as a lesser
emotion that isn t to be trusted. However, there is, in fact, science to support the reliability of
intuition. Gut feelings are a result of the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, located directly behind the
nose, which sorts and prioritizes information, and runs all relevant information through the
subconscious, which uses an analyzation of past events and calculates the best course of action.
This process manifests as intuition.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families:
A Policy Analysis
Lena Byanski
Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne
Author Note:
This paper was prepared for PPOL V371, Section 01, Spring 2016, taught by Professor Aitalieva.
Abstract
The main purpose of this research is to give further knowledge about the Temporary Assistance for
Needy Families Program offered in the United States (TANF). With looking at the history of the
program, it allows the reader to get an improved understanding of why the need for the program
was developed, and have an understanding at which direction the program is going to be going.
The research will share the environments of the current policy, effectiveness and efficiency, and
offer some possible policy alternatives that will either benefit the program or make it more difficult
to allocate the proper funding in order to continue to help low income families in need.
Policy Description
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF) was created to help and provide
cash assistance and supportive services to help assist families that have children under the age of
18, including pregnant women. The assistance that is given to the individual or families allows
the financial assistance to help pay for utilities, food, and shelter. Temporary Assistance for Needy

Vernon Tull Character Traits
Vernon Tull is a fairly wealthy countryman who is friends with the Bundrens, often hiring the
older boys to do odd jobs for him. He is characterized as a helpful, kind man. Some characters
think Tull is very benevolent, always offering help to the family and assisting them whenever they
are in trouble, or in a state of distress. The family, however, is not always appreciative, as
sometimes the family refuses to acknowledge their need for succor. Tull knows the family really
does need the assistance, and does not let the family s brusqueness get in the way of his
facilitation. Tull is important in the novel because of Tull s caring nature towards the Bundren
children and his revelation of the novel s themes. When Tull narrates a section of... Show more

When Tull and Cora are talking about the incident at the river, and how Cash almost drowned,
Cora says the log was brought thereby God s will as punishment for Anse s lack of fathering

the only one that can judge people yet is constantly criticizing the Bundrens throughout the novel
(Faulkner). Tull, too, is hypocritical, because he uses religion to pass judgment on Anse. When
Vardaman comes to Tull and describes a relationship between Addie and a fish, Tull believes this
is nonsense, and blames Anse, like Cora, for being an incompetent father (Faulkner). In addition
to Cora s characterization, the reader is better able to understand Jewel s nature because of Tull
s narrations. When Tull follows the family to the river, potentially to help them cross the
dangerous waters, Jewel is furious with the Tull s offer to help. This shows Jewel s independence
as a strong individual, and foreshadows a time later in the novel where Jewel will again show his
independence. This foreshadowing comes to fulfillment when Jewel absconds in order to avoid the
sale of his beloved horse. Nevertheless, Jewel does trade his horse for a team of mules and

Analysis Of Blood Meridian Or The Evening Redness Of The West
Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness in the West, is a novel written by an author by the name
of Cormac McCarthy. Cormac McCarthy wrote this to show a teenage runaway perspective of
living on your own during the late 1800 s. Throughout this novel, McCarthy shows the reader the
feeling of being in hell and describing a kid s journey through hell. This eye opening novel takes
place in Texas, Mexicoand the American Southwest, Circa. This historical fiction novel is
surprisingly accurate when describing the events that occurred during the situations in the
Southwestern U.S. and Mexico around the 1850 s. McCarthy s Blood Meridian contains a lot of
violent and bloody events that build up to the subjugation of the Apaches, as well as other Native
tribes, and the southwestern expansion of the United Statesof America. All these events are proven
to be an accurate description of the way Indigenous people were treated and how they lived
throughout this time. The story Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness of the West, explains a
couple of the major frontier themes of a man s kinship for violence, religion, and power in the
Western American History. These can be found as the theme depending on the way the reader
interprets it. The story represents the traditions of the American Southwest, as the kid meets
different people with different perspectives on life. This novel describes a journey of a young boy,
who McCarthy doesn t give a name to, but refers to the character as the

Comparing Black And Brown Cultures
Both Black and Brown cultures seem to share a lot of common similarities and differences with
each other such as, friendships, family orientations, and/or religious traditions. From the people I
had the privileged to interview, have certainly granted me a much firmer grasp of the valid idea
of what Black culture, or Black societies seem to stem from. I was given the impression that
young Black boys, and girls tend to be taught survivalist values and beliefs, in order to be more

seems to have close ties to their Christian believes. The Grandparents, teach their children those
same traditions that are then passed down to the next generation to mold them, and to keep
those same traditional values. Brown cultures do things somewhat similarly, but they are not as
strict in church dress code as Black culture is. Brown cultures love cookout gatherings; that

Link Between Cartoon And Caricature
Introduction
Cartoon or political genre depicts human s artistic ability of transforming ideas and knowledge into
pictures of his own choice. In the literature the terms cartoon and caricature are used
interchangeably and indiscriminately, which creates confusion. What then is the distinction
between a cartoon and a caricature? Historically, cartoon refers to the preparatory designs for a
large drawing or painting (Coupe 1967). The link between these two concepts can be traced back
to 1843 when John Leech described as cartoons the parodies he drew of the cartoons for the
frescos in the Houses of Parliament, London (Coup 1969). Streicher(1967) continues that what in
literature is satire, in pictorial art is caricature, satire typically deals with demonstration and
exposure of human vices or follies in order to scorn or ridicule humans; graphic caricatures ridicule

Political cartoons dates back from the ancient Egypt (1360, B.C) Johnson (193) culture with human

The Perfect Setting For A Ghost Story
A warm, foggy December morning along the Florida coast is the perfect setting for a ghost
story. I never intended to have these particular feelings, and emotions don t come easily for me,
but add this gloomy weather to the after holiday hangover, the dread of a looming workday, the
perfect song on the radio, and the haunts start to flow like tears. Or maybe they were tears. This is
unfamiliar territory for a girl like me, but one thing I know for sure is the ghosts were real. They
were right there beside me, in my head, through my windshield, and tagging along behind. They are
always there.
Ghosts can come in a lot of forms. There are the loved ones lost, there are the spooky haunts and
ghost stories, but the worst kind of ghost is the memory of pur own actions. A ghost we create
freely and then have to live with indefinitely. We all have regrets, but a ghost takes regret to
another level. A ghost is a recurring emotion, a feeling imprinted upon us and others that cannot
be forgotten nor rectified. In time all things can be forgiven; the majority of my ghosts have
been forgiven, but they still reside inside of me. Forgiveness does not allay the haunt. I know
what I said. I know what I did. I know where I ve been. I know the power I have over others, and
I know I haven t always wielded it responsibly. I know how to inflict pain. When something hurts
me, I know how to hurt it 10 fold in return via my words, action, or violence, but the words are what
haunt me the most. The

Hyperbole Scarlet Letter
D.H. Lawrence writes about Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel The Scarlet Letter in his essay On The
Scarlet Letter . Instead of writing a traditional essay on the novel, Laurence creates a unique
criticism of the novel through a sense of rhythm. He uses several literary devices to reach this goal
of creating an effective criticism. More specifically, D.H. Lawrence uses the literary devices of
hyperbole, syntax, and allusion to craft an effective criticism of Nathaniel Hawthornes The Scarlet

throughout his essay. For example, Laurence criticizes how Hester Prynne is put upon [a] scaffold

An example of this is when he references James Fenimore Cooper s work Deerslayer when he
discusses how Deerslayer refused to be seduced by Judith Hutter (Lawrence). By alluding to
Cooper s work, Lawrence references how the character Deerslayer resists Judith Hutter s seduction.
Through this, he makes the criticism of another path that Hawthorne could have taken. Instead of
simply giving in to Hester s seduction, the author makes the point that Dimmesdale could have
resisted Hester s attempts of seduction. This would have driven the story and would have created
a more realistic situation for the reverend. Another allusion the author makes is when he says
Abel! Abel! Abel! Admirable! (Lawrence). Through this biblical reference, he criticizes Hester is
portrayed to be an innocent victim by comparing her to Abel, the son of Adam and Eve and the
murder victim of his brother Cain. Consequently, Laurence criticizes that Hester is too much of a
victim and that this trait dehumanizes her character and creates a sort of innocent and moral ideal.
This builds upon Lawrence s claim that Hawthorne created Hester with the flaw of being too
morally justified and

In All the world s a stage Shakespeare writes of a man who has a negative attitude towards
growing up and life in general. This is shown through the negative words that Shakespeare uses
to describe his life. For instance: even at the earliest stage, At first the infant, mewling and
puking in the nurse s arms is shown being bad? Analyse the quote, write the effect. Why did
Shakespeare write it like this? Due to the man s attitude toward change and growing up he
experiences life at its worst, remembering only the bad experiences. In contrast Star Treks entire

Watching television in the traditional way, like on a television set in a shared space can bring up
many distractions. External factors like watching a show with other people or background noise
can create distractions that drastically effect a viewers watching experience, thus decreasing their
investment in the show. This is why I much prefer to watch television shows on a computer or
tablet with headphones on. This promotes escapism and decreases, if not eliminates outside
distractions. If I am very concentrated on the show I am watching, then I become much more likely
to view the next episode and begin a binge watching spiral. This same concept goes to show why
viewing a show in a shared setting with distractions decreases the likelihood of binge watching as
viewers cannot achieve a high level of escapism and become less invested in the show.
Even though the medium plays a crucial role in binge watching, it is also important to take into
account the role commercials play in one s television viewing experience. Commercials serves as a
form of distraction when it comes to television watching, as they disrupt a viewer s concentration.
These increased distractions again prove why watching television in the traditional sense, like on
network television, decreases habits of binge watching. But what about when online streaming
services have commercials as well, does this change the way people binge watch? Video streaming

Picky Eater By Julia Alvarez
At some point of a kid s life, they want to be picky about something. They want to have some
control of their little world where adults are constantly telling them what to wear, what to do,
and what to eat. Food, for instance, is an easy topic where kids will fight for some independence.
Throwing, yelling, crying and even bribing were the essence of a battle at dinner tables. Because
some parents would automatically give in to their children s need, the kids often think they won
the battle but technically they didn t. In the story, Picky Eater , Julia Alvarez tells a story of her
childhood experience of home meals where her and her sisters were also picky eaters, despite
having healthy foodserved to them. Meals, she said, at home were battlegrounds. Even if you won
the dinner battle, refusing to clean your plate or drink your engrudo, you inevitably lost the war
(Alvarez 145). Battlegrounds at home can occur but it doesn t have to end up being messy if the
parents know how to handle the situation properly. In Picky Eater Alvarez mentioned that her
parents particularly her motherwas very strict on the type of food the children ate. Getting food
from en la calle was strictly forbidden (Alvarez 144) because they might get sick catching some
kind of disease from people who have prepared their food. Also, because Alvarez and her sisters
were very thin, having leftovers on their plate wasn t allowed. To ensure her kids got all the nutrition

One of the most controversial discussions in human history is between the topics of science and
religion. This discussion spans most of human history with far reaching effects. It has even
stretched into our modern times, leaching into schools and politics. But before one can decide
which side to take, and what views to align with, they require knowledge. Society must understand
the similarities and differences between scienceand religion.
Science differs immensely from religion in a variety of ways. Science is defined as systematic
knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.

The Birth Control Of Women
Appropriately called by some one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World, the birth control
pill has absolutely revolutionized the lives of women around the globe. As an effective means to
control if and when a woman has a child, the pill opened up doors to spaces where women weren t
allowed prior. A person controlling their own fertility is an essential component of creating
economic security, limiting unwanted pregnancies, and creating healthier families. There are many
new options for contraception for women today, but the pill was the original catalyst in the United
States for women claiming control over their fertility, career, and overall health status. The concept
of family planning can be traced back to a nurse, sex educator, and political activist names Margaret
Sanger. Born in 1879 to a large family (and her mother subsequently died during Margaret s birth),
she was passionate about the ability for women to control their fertility and own their sexuality.
Sanger is credited with opening the first birth controlclinic in the United States in 1916 (Planned
Parenthood, 2013). She went on to found the American Birth Control League, which eventually
became Planned Parenthood. Fighting for reproductive justice through advocacy and clinics was
just the beginning, however, as Sanger had an ultimate goal: a birth control pill. Being the dream
she always wanted to have realized, Sanger teamed up with an experimental biologist and friend,

There are a number of software engineers who advocate this approach and there are huge software
development organizations that prefer agile approach to use than other traditional methodologies.
According to Andrew Begel and Nachiappan Nagappan [2] from more than two decade agile
software methodology is gaining acceptance by the professionals since 1990. Due to fast changing
technology, common customer can not define his needs properly. New approaches and
methodologies were needed able to define changing requirements properly. Traditional methods
such as waterfall model are not able to deal with real ways software engineering functions in
software development. Some group of software consultants signed the agile SD manifesto in 2001.
This was the era when agile software development was basically emerged. Main benefit of this
approach is to promote and develop the response and speed of software development to change
the requirement as well as deadlines [3] [4]. There are many agile methods used in agile software

What Were The Effects Of Counterculture In The 1960 s
1. Those beautiful people
If it feels good, do it! Life is about being happy, not what others think you should be. This hippies
primary ideology was primitive, however the path leading to happiness was full of stones and
roots. Below we will investigate, who those awkward youngsters in the Sixties were, what they
thought and believed in, supported and rejected, destroyed and built up.
1.1 Who are Hippies?
Hippies were people mostly of young age, who generally refused to be a part of established
institution. They were individuals and expressed it vividly through their wild and free lifestyle.
Hippies wanted to replace a disappointedly materialistic, corrupted society, which their ancestors
and parents had built for them, with an Utopian society. They opposed any action of harming and
killing, often reflected by their vegetarian diet, eco friendly practices and particularly protesting
against nuclear weapons, Vietnam War, Civil Rights movement during 1960s. Hippies sought for a
meaning in life, some of them found it in Eastern philosophy (Buddhism, Yoga, meditation), some
found it in free love and sexual liberation, many found it by exploring consciousness through effects
of psychedelic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Counterculture was a revolt against conservative square society, escaping from subordination to
traditions, looking for meaning of freedom, peace, love, happiness and other tenets. It is important
to mention, that not everybody involved in sixties counterculture movement had to be a hippie, even
though a lot of them were. Regardless age, social or academic background, the counterculture
movement involved from farmers to university professors, musicians to officers, sportsmen to
invalids, mothers to children, believers to atheists, black to white, rich to poor. Simply, those
seeking freedom of individualism could find a way to happiness through countering what they

Some of the disadvantages are: limiting the vendors may limit the variety of products,
relinquishing inventory control over to vendors and distributors may negatively impact their
customer satisfaction, and the customers may decide to deal with supplier directly which could
put Best Buy at risk of loosing their business. Inventory levels over the past 4 years have
remained on an increasingly consistent track as their revenue has risen. According to Best Buy
(2010), this rise in revenue and assets is partly due to the fact that they enter new markets and open
new stores across the world. The latest opportunities that they have come across include new stores
in Europe and other areas overseas. This is new territory for Best Buy but has been a successful
venture based on their flexibility with their inventory systems that they have in place. The
following table presents the last five year financial highlights according to the Financial Statements
and Supplementary Data of Annual Report on Form 10 K. (Investor Relations, 2010) Five Year

The Theory Of A Management Theory
A management theory is a collection of different ideas that are used to outline the general rules for
how a business or organization will manage itself (Business Dictionary, n.d.). Every organization
uses management or managerial theories as the foundation in which they use to implement, help
increase productivity, and service quality (Hawthorne, n.d.). An organization doesn t use just one
theory or concept when implementing their strategies but actually they use a combination of
theories that work best for their workplace, purpose and workforce (Hawthorne, n.d.). It turns into
a mixture of different theories that is blended for exactly what the organization needs. Not many
organizations are going to openly publish what managerial theories they use to keep their company
going. It s not good to show your hand of cards to your competitors. It only makes you weaker and
they know what your game plan is. So as an internal employee and based off what I know about the
organization I work for, I m going to analyze and theorize on the approach that State Farm takes
based on what I know about their internal culture and business strategies. State Farm has five
different lines of business; property and casualty insurance, life and health insurance, annuities,
mutual funds, and banking products (State Farm, 2015). State Farm was built on a collection of
shared values that includes; quality service and relationships, mutual trust, integrity, and financial
strength (State Farm, 2015).

  • 2. Pros Of Confounding To become a more thorough researcher, one must be able to evaluate and analyze the various components of their study, including that of the independent and dependent variables, the participants, the experimental setting. Even during the process of designing one s study, trying to design a study that does not have confounding variables, it can be a difficult task with much benefits. According to Halpern et al. (2007), the fundamental goal of psychological research: to discover the causes and consequences of behavior (Halpern, Roediger, Sternberg, p. 131, 2007). Thusly, for psychological research to show proper and true results without any alternate explanations, the study must be free of confounding variables. If there are confounding variables... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having many measures in my study, with multiple readings and questionnaires, the order of the materials could have become a confound variable. For example, if I were to let participants read the manipulated trial transcript then complete the questionnaires, they could guess the purpose of the study (which is not juror decision making). I believe that besides one analyzing their study, having peer reviews is very beneficial for founding out confounds that could occur in one s study. For my peer review group, the suggestion of changing the ages was beneficial because not only have I haven t thought about the issues with the previous ages (18, 23), but I understand why the new ages (17, 21) are more suitable. With the change of the ages at a more appropriate age, my chances of confounds have decreased and could decrease suspicions from participants regarding the age difference. This chapter has also made me aware of what experimental methods to lean on if I wanted to perform a study that was correlational. Overall, being able to critically analyze the study and make changes to avoid confounds is the best for experimental and correlational studies to remain internally valid for not only that current study, but future research as ... From the macabre description of New York and some of his inhabitants and the thermodynamic of some of Bellows paintings, the symposium proceeded under a different note that still analysed the body in relation to movement, in particular the female body in commercial art. Professor Jennifer Greenhill presented her paper Commercial Illustration s Immaterial Bodies which focused on the commercial artist Coles Phillips and this imagery for the mass press where design is vital to attract any potential buyers. It was illuminating to discover this artist and some of his most characteristic works created with a fade away technique where the body of women disappears in the background so dematerialising their bodies. Prof Greenhill provided an excellent overview of the artist as well as his technique and showed many eye catching images that are still incredibly powerful in terms of graphic and design. Across the different field of applications, several routing protocols have been proposed to achieve enhanced network lifetime via energy efficient transmission [5]. The main cause for the energy depletion in batteries in WSN is the communication required to transmit and receive data to other nodes. Mostly the energy consumption in the network is due to transmission and reception activities. However, the energy consumed for the processing operation is less important than the energy used for communication [6]. The wireless sensor networks mainly comprise stationary and mobile sensors that are deployed randomly inside the network and they collect data from the surroundings via wireless communication links [7, 8]. Single hop or multi hop protocols are used to further transmit collected data to one or more base stations or sink [9]. An enormous amount of structured and unstructured data known as big data is generated rapidly that requires a flexible and reliable storage infrastructure [10]. Sensor nodes transfer the obtained useful information from a defined network either directly or via a chain of CHs to the BS [11]. In designing a routing protocol for WSN the main concern is the energy efficiency [12]. Thus, energy depletion of one node may vary from other, i.e., nodes near the BS or sink have more energy depletion than the other nodes. This results in the creation of energy holes near the sink [13]. Further transmission of data towards the sink is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Subconscious Analysis That Shapes Our Lives Running Head: INTUITION Intuition: The Subconscious Analysis That Shapes Our Lives Shannon Moran Bridges High School INTUITION Abstract Intuition has rarely been given the credit it deserves, even when numerous experiments over the past decades has shown it to be a complex and detailed subconscious process, rather than the pseudo science many still believe it to be. Despite the success of intuition as a decision maker, the ideology that we should trust logic first and hunches second often wins out. While intuition has been known to lead to mistakes, known as Warren Harding Errors, it s often more reliable than logical, thought out problem solving. Ignorance as to the true nature of intuition has led to a societal ideology that values the conscious over the subconscious, and regards intuition as a lesser emotion that isn t to be trusted. However, there is, in fact, science to support the reliability of intuition. Gut feelings are a result of the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, located directly behind the nose, which sorts and prioritizes information, and runs all relevant information through the subconscious, which uses an analyzation of past events and calculates the best course of action. This process manifests as intuition. keywords: intuition, decision making, logic, clinical intuition Intuition: The Subconscious Analysis That Shapes Our Lives Throughout history, intuition has been regarded with scientific speculation, or as a sort of sixth sense, ... He is characterized as a helpful, kind man. Some characters think Tull is very benevolent, always offering help to the family and assisting them whenever they are in trouble, or in a state of distress. The family, however, is not always appreciative, as sometimes the family refuses to acknowledge their need for succor. Tull knows the family really does need the assistance, and does not let the family s brusqueness get in the way of his facilitation. Tull is important in the novel because of Tull s caring nature towards the Bundren children and his revelation of the novel s themes. When Tull narrates a section of... The reader, through Tull, can see Cora s hypocritical nature, as Cora repeats that God is the only one that can judge people yet is constantly criticizing the Bundrens throughout the novel (Faulkner). Tull, too, is hypocritical, because he uses religion to pass judgment on Anse. When Vardaman comes to Tull and describes a relationship between Addie and a fish, Tull believes this is nonsense, and blames Anse, like Cora, for being an incompetent father (Faulkner). In addition to Cora s characterization, the reader is better able to understand Jewel s nature because of Tull s narrations. When Tull follows the family to the river, potentially to help them cross the dangerous waters, Jewel is furious with the Tull s offer to help. This shows Jewel s independence as a strong individual, and foreshadows a time later in the novel where Jewel will again show his independence. Cormac McCarthy wrote this to show a teenage runaway perspective of living on your own during the late 1800 s. Throughout this novel, McCarthy shows the reader the feeling of being in hell and describing a kid s journey through hell. This eye opening novel takes place in Texas, Mexicoand the American Southwest, Circa. This historical fiction novel is surprisingly accurate when describing the events that occurred during the situations in the Southwestern U.S. and Mexico around the 1850 s. McCarthy s Blood Meridian contains a lot of violent and bloody events that build up to the subjugation of the Apaches, as well as other Native tribes, and the southwestern expansion of the United Statesof America. All these events are proven to be an accurate description of the way Indigenous people were treated and how they lived throughout this time. The story Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness of the West, explains a couple of the major frontier themes of a man s kinship for violence, religion, and power in the Western American History. These can be found as the theme depending on the way the reader interprets it. Historically, cartoon refers to the preparatory designs for a large drawing or painting (Coupe 1967). The link between these two concepts can be traced back to 1843 when John Leech described as cartoons the parodies he drew of the cartoons for the frescos in the Houses of Parliament, London (Coup 1969). If I am very concentrated on the show I am watching, then I become much more likely to view the next episode and begin a binge watching spiral. This same concept goes to show why viewing a show in a shared setting with distractions decreases the likelihood of binge watching as viewers cannot achieve a high level of escapism and become less invested in the show. Even though the medium plays a crucial role in binge watching, it is also important to take into account the role commercials play in one s television viewing experience.
