Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Swatch bharat
1. India
India is a constitutional republic in South Asia,
with the world's second largest population, an
economy currently ranked 9th in terms of
GDP(Nominal), a rapidly developing country
which yet has significant amount of poverty, and
the world's largest democracy
India is a large country and has rich cultural
heritage. It is the birthplace of several tribes,
religions and cultures.
2. Interesting facts about India.
• 1.Origin of the Name ‘India’: The origin of the name ‘India’ is derived from
River Indus, which was worshiped by the Aryans and they referred the
river as the Sindhu. It was later converted into ‘Hindu’ by the Persian
Invaders.
• 2. Bharat: India is also called Bharat and even recognized as the official
name by the Indian constitution. The term Bharat has been taken from
Ancient Indian texts.
• 3. First Urban culture: The Indus Valley Civilization in India is more than
3000 years old and is considered to be the first Urban Culture in South
Asia.
• 4. Religion: India is the birth place of major religions including Buddhism,
Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism.
• 5. Independence Day: India got freedom on 15th August, 1947 and hence
Independence Day is celebrated every year on this day.
• 6. Father of the Nation: Mahatma Gandhi is known as Father of Indian
Nation.
3. How can I develop india??
• Vote - A large majority of India's urban youth are disillusioned with
politics and don't vote. If you want a change, be the harbinger of
that change. Don't just sit at home and complain.
• Read the newspaper (a real one, the Hindu maybe). Keep abreast
with the news, know what is happening in your country and have
an opinion about it.
• Stop watching only cricket and try out something else. There
arethousands of athletes out there in India playing their hearts out
hoping someone would sit up and take notice.
• Stop taking things for granted. You deserve better from the
government you voted to power. It is your duty to point out the
things you want changed.
• Don't pay bribes. Next time somebody asks you for a bribe don't
pay it, however much inconvenience it is going to cause.
• Switch off all electrical appliances before you leave the house.
4. • Control your road rage. Don't honk too much on the roads.
• Let your kids choose their lives, careers and life partners. You don't own
them. They know their dreams and aspirations better than you.
• Tolerate all religions. Stop believing in the caste system.
• Spend more money. Go on more holidays. You will be a happier person
and you will help the economy grow.
• Do something physical. Indians are notorious for being inactive. Go out,
play, jump off an airplane, scuba dive. But do something.
• Stop peeing anywhere and everywhere. The next generation is watching
and learning.
• Pay your taxes on time. Help the government to help you.
• Teach the less privileged. Join an NGO that teaches kids, elders or
anybody without access to schools. That is much more beneficial than
dropping money into a charity box to satisfy your conscience.
• Keep your roads clean, dispose your garbage properly, stop spitting on the
roads
5. Eradicate corruption
• Spend a few million rupees to design a very good website that has *all*
the government forms used in all the government departments. The site
has to be so intuitive that filling government forms should be a very
simple and straightforward process. Make it very easy to get this
accessible on mobile. If you do this well, you can eliminate the army of
bribe seekers outside the government offices.
• Create videos and test materials to enable a prospective driver to learn
the road rules in a simple, fun way. Every type of education can be made
fun. Let them learn the rules, and the pass the test for *FREE* (without
paying a bribe). Which Indian would not love things for free?
• Use analytics tools to analyze what the market prices of homes are. Most
of the real estate black money involves understating the sale price. Once
you build a strong analytics tool, it will be hard to understate price and
save the tax. Same for sales tax and others. Share this data openly on the
government website.
6. • Make credit card transactions more prevalent.
Subsidize the payment technologies so much
that people get incentives not to use cash.
Cash transactions are the source of half the
headache.
8. Swatch bharath
• India is under developd because of corruption
• The real goal is not Swatch Bharath. The real goal is
first world status, i.e. prosperity for a vast majority of
the people of India. Once you achiever that everything
else follows - smart cities, bullet trains, no need for
welfare schemes, toilets for all, jobs for all, make in
India, Madison Square Garden - they are all connected
and are all different ways of saying the same thing - we
want to be the US of A! By 2019? That is called wishful
thinking. Three more generations? That would be a
reasonable target.
9. • Swatch bharat is social responsibilty.
• Cleanliness starts from us.
• It is for our safety.
• Cleanliness need not involve costliness
• Cleanliness and be healthy.
10. How can we promote
swatch bharath?
• Acclerating progress of sanitation in rural
areas.
• Sanitation facilities including toilets solid and
liquid waste disposal systems and supplying
safe and adequate drinking water.
11. What do we do??
• Organize different programmes on cleanliness
and sanitation.
• Constrution of toilets in scools and public
places.
• Programmes to eleminate open defecation.
• Make people aware about the health issues
raised because of open defecation.
• Solid and liquid waste mangement.
12. • Use technology.
• Convert the garbage into usefull matrial.
• Maintain cleanliness.
• Free from corpution.
• Free from pollution.
• Keep india Clean and green.
• India should come to the stage of one
ruppe=dollar.
13. • And take all these intiatives to rural india also.
