Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

2. STORY OF A GIRL
“One, who maintains cleanliness
keeps away diseases”, tells the mother
to her child.
“But mother, I will have enough time
for cleaning things once I become a
Chartered Accountant”, she
immediately replied.
What is wrong in the story
so far? Is the girl right?
3. She would not clean her study room thinking “how does
being clean matter?”.
Then happens the much dreaded as she falls ill which renders
her unable to attempt her CA final examinations.
We tend to believe the false
illusion that we’ll get
enough time to clean after
clearing our examination
and we don’t need to do it
now.
Swachta
begins at
HOME.
4. What is SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN??
Started on October 2nd 2014, with the intent
to pay a tribute of clean India to Mahatma
Gandhi on his 150th Birth Anniversary in 2019.
The honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri
Narendra Modi, himself initiated the
cleanliness drive by picking up the broom and
cleaning the dirt at Mandir Marg Police station.
5. What is SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN??
The government aims to achieve an Open-Defecation Free (ODF) India
by constructing 12 crore toilets in rural India.
Since then, the movement picked up. Everybody from the government
officials to jawans, Bollywood actors to the sportspersons,
industrialists to spiritual leaders, all have lined up for the noble work.
Several organisations and NGO’s have also come up in spreading the
message to the people at large.
6. HOW DO WE ACHIEVE THIS?
BY INITIATING!!!
The plans includes:
solar-powered trash cans like in many cities of
US which sends alerts to sanitation crew once they are full.
construction of more toilets, community toilets and solid waste
management.
behavioural change intervention including interpersonal
communication, strengthening implementation and delivery mechanisms
down to the Gram Panchayat level.
7. ROLE OF STUDENTS in Swach
Bharat
acting as the real ambassadors of cleanliness and motivate others to keep
their homes, schools, and surroundings clean.
initiate cleanliness in our surrounding areas and make the drive a
successful campaign.
ask the right question and make the government answerable. If young
people start expecting real changes, the people in power will have no choice
but to make the changes.
8. The younger generation can begin by asking:
What is the government's role in Swach
Bharat Abhiyan, what are the new policies
to ensure swachta (cleanliness)?
What are the rules to ensure untreated
industrial wastes does not go into our
water bodies; Ganga included (one major
source of sorry state of affairs)?
How come housing societies even now
get away with lesser than 50% capacity of
STP plants?
9. Questions by younger generation:
Is there a law to deter people from spiting, peeing, and
littering in public? If yes what is the punishment? Is it
being enforced?
Why are garbage dumps in many places in most major
cities overflowing? Why is the city Municipal Corporation
letting it be? Are they not aware of Swach Bharat
Abhiyan; moreover is it not their job?
10. The following can be done on part of the
students:
Stop throwing
wrappers of eatables
on roads and if
possible stop others
from doing the same.
Bring to the notice of elders and friends
if they are littering on roads, stations,
malls etc. and try to stop them from
doing so. Please don't mind if they scold
you because of that. Remember, you are
contributing for a great cause.
Promote the use the
dustbin always.
11. The following can be done on part of the
students:
Enact play,
speeches, songs,
dances and
educate the people
about this
Make sure his/her
office or classroom
is clean.
Teach their
younger siblings to
practice the same.
Adopting good
eating habits and
following them.
Keep his thoughts
clean.
12. How can students participate?
1. Adopt a stretch of road to clean up
2. Organize a local cleanliness drive
3. Beautify a road, a park or a ground
4. Organize a fundraising campaign
5. Street Plays on The Importance of Cleanliness
13. CHALLENGES in implementation
Poor utilization of funds, delay in the reach of funds
and the lack of funds.
Unwillingness to initiate.
Non fixation of roles and responsibilities leading to
unclear accountability.
Focus on changing behaviours.
Going beyond toilet construction.
14. SOME GREAT SLOGANS
“Every road, path, office, home, hut, stream and particle of air
around us can and must be kept clean” – President Pranab
Mukherjee.
“No positive factor can help you, until you are single minded for
success. Take up one idea as your life – think of it, dream of it
and live on that idea. And success is yours for sure.”-Swami
Vivekananda.
“If we make it a public movement, we can make our country
being counted as one among the cleanest nations.” – Prime
Minister Narendra Modi
15. CRUX
Never be the first one to litter.
Always remember that “TOGETHER WE CAN
MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE” and keep going with
the Abhiyan.
Never mind politely asking others to stop doing the
same .
