Ensure 6 feet between employees: have
employees stretch both arms out to their
sides to help them estimate how far they
should be away from their neighbor
Employees who work in areas that are
smaller or confined must wear a mask at
all times unless working alone
Apply social distance reminders on the
floor and walls where traffic is likely to
create a line of people (restroom, clock
in/clock out areas, front desk)

KEEPING SW RESOURCES SAFE
FOR EMPLOYEES AND PATRONS
PLACE
Considerations for safety and protective measures
 Provide employees with acceptable face coverings, gloves, and any other
necessary personal protective equipment necessary to do their job.
 Develop a method for how SW Resources plans to label, store, and wash the employee
masks. The CDC recommends daily while the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases
recommends weekly washing may be sufficient depending on how often and how long the
masks are worn and the activities done while using a mask (2020).
 Used masks cannot be stored together, but they can be washed together using a normal
laundry detergent in the hottest water possible and dry at the hottest setting.
 Perhaps the employees can be encouraged to wash them daily and then keep all the masks at SW
Resources on Friday to have support staff wash and be ready to go Monday morning when employees
arrive.
 If you are concerned the employees may not bring the masks back daily, it may be simpler to have
employees just turn them in to the staff daily as they enter their vehicle to go home and have SW
Resources support staff wash the masks daily to prepare for work the following day.
 Determine what objects employees usually share to
perform their tasks and prepare a surplus of these objects.
 Impress upon the employees that the face masks are to
keep others safe from each other, if we all wear masks then
that equals an environment where we keep illness down
are more likely to keep SW Resources open for business
and everyone gets to keep working.
 Taking into individual capability, try to make everyone
feel accountable for keeping their coworkers healthy by
following the guidelines
 Make entrance and exits for singular direction when
available
 Allow for single entrance doors to stay open when there
are not double door rooms
Protective
Measures
cont.
HYGIENE AND
CLEANING
 Maintain a log of who did the
cleaning, date, time, and
scope of cleaning performed.
 Adhere to Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC), Occupational
Health and Safety Association, and
Department of Health for cleaning
and disinfecting
Increase frequency of
cleaning
and disinfecting high
touch surfaces:
clock-in/clock-out area
tables
doorknobs
light switches
countertops
handles
desks
phones
keyboards
toilets
faucets
sinks
To Clean
 Wear disposable gloves to clean and disinfect.
 Clean surfaces using soap and water, then use disinfectant.
 Cleaning with soap and water reduces number of germs, dirt and
impurities on the surface. Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces.
To Disinfect
 Follow the instructions on the label to ensure safe and effective use of
the product.
Many products recommend:
 Keeping surface wet for a period of time (see product label).
 Precautions such as wearing gloves and making sure you have good
ventilation during use of the product.
 A full list of approved disinfectants against COVID-19 is
available on the Environmental Protection Agency website
https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registration/list-n-
disinfectants-use-against-sars-cov-2-covid-19
Cleaning and Disinfecting
 Diluted household bleach solutions may also be used if appropriate for the surface.
 Check the label to see if your bleach is intended for disinfection and has a sodium hypochlorite
concentration of 5%–6%. Ensure the product is not past its expiration date. Some bleaches, such as those
designed for safe use on colored clothing or for whitening may not be suitable for disinfection.
 Unexpired household bleach will be effective against coronaviruses when properly diluted.
 Follow manufacturer’s instructions for application and proper ventilation. Never mix household bleach with
ammonia or any other cleanser.
 Leave solution on the surface for at least 1 minute
 To make a bleach solution, mix:
 5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per gallon of room temperature water
OR
 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of room temperature water
 Bleach solutions will be effective for disinfection up to 24 hours.
 Alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol may also be used.
Soft surfaces such as carpeted floor, rugs, and drapes
 Clean the surface using soap and water or with cleaners appropriate for use on these surfaces.
 Launder items (if possible) according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Use the warmest appropriate water
setting and dry items completely.
 OR
 Disinfect with an EPA-registered household disinfectant.
 Vacuum as usual.
Electronics such as tablets, touch screens, keyboards, remote controls, and ATM machines
 Consider putting a wipeable cover on electronics.
 Follow manufacturer’s instruction for cleaning and disinfecting.
 If no guidance, use alcohol-based wipes or sprays containing at least 70% alcohol. Dry surface
thoroughly.
Laundry for items such as for clothing, towels, linens and other items
 Launder according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Use the warmest appropriate water
setting and dry items completely.
 Wear disposable gloves when handling dirty laundry from a person who is sick.
 Dirty laundry from a person who is sick can be washed with other people’s items.
 Do not shake dirty laundry.
 Clean and disinfect clothes hampers according to guidance above for surfaces.
 Remove gloves, and wash hands right away.
 Have small group scheduled hand sanitizing times (still following social
distancing guidelines)
 Increase the availability of hand sanitizing stations (at least at every
workstation in the production rooms and shipping sections)
 Visual cues throughoutSW Resources
 Place an impermeable barrier between employees when social distancing
is not permissible.
 Small group education with frequent reinforcement, by trained health
professionals
 Training should include when to use PPE, what PPE is necessary,
 how to properly don (put on), use, and doff (take off) PPE
 how to properly dispose of PPE.
 No touch trash receptacles
 Convert seldom used rooms to areas for lunch gatherings to stay below
ten people at a time per room
 Staggered start and stop times
Wash your hands often with soap
and water for 20 seconds.
Always wash immediately after
removing gloves and after
contact with another staff
Hand sanitizer: If soap and water
are not available and hands are
not visibly dirty, an alcohol-
based hand sanitizer that
contains at least 60% alcohol
may be used. However, if hands
are visibly dirty, always wash
hands with soap and water.
Miscellaneous considerations for work areas at SW Resources
■ After blowing one’s nose coughing, or sneezing
■ After using the restroom
■ Before eating or preparing food
■ Before and after helping another staff with a task even if PPE is used
■ After touching garbage
■ Before and after the work shift
■ Before and after work breaks
■ After touching objects that have been handled by customers
Key times to promote hand washing hygiene
practices at SW Resources
PROCESSES AND
COORDINATION
AT SW RESOURCES
 Considerations for
employee daily
screening processes
 Building a coordinated plan
when there is a positiveCovid-19
employee
Develop a system for screening employees before they enter the building
 Possibly have designated personnel screen employees before they exit their vehicle at drop off to prevent ill
individuals from spreading germs
 At the very least there should be designated screening areas with separate exits
 Daily screenings to include checking temperatures (preferably touchless thermometers), and ask about the
presence of a cough and the appearance of new episodes of shortness of breath
 The ability to log employee statistics can help track individual employee's health and better predict
oncoming illness in an employee (Appendix D)
 SW Resources could consider assigning coded numbers to employees that do not contain identifiers
Staying in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and
AccountabilityAct (HIPAA) when recording employee health data
Under the U.S. Equal EmploymentOpportunityCommission
and the American DisabilitiesAct, medical information for employees
must be contained in a completely separate file apart from the employee’s personnel file.
■ Close off areas used by the person who is sick.
■ SW Resources does not necessarily need to close operations, if affected areas can
be closed off.
■ Open outside doors and windows to increase air circulation in the area.
■ Wait 24 hours before you clean or disinfect. If 24 hours is not feasible, wait as long
as possible.
■ Clean and disinfect all areas used by the person who is sick, such as offices,
bathrooms, common areas, shared electronic equipment like tablets, touch screens,
keyboards, remote controls, and ATM machines.
■ Vacuum the space if needed. Use vacuum equipped with high-efficiency particular
air (HEPA) filter, if available.
■ Do not vacuum a room or space that has people in it.Wait until the room or space is
empty to vacuum, such as at night, for common spaces, or during the day for
private rooms.
■ Consider temporarily turning off room fans and the central HVAC system that
services the room or space, so that particles that escape from vacuuming will not
circulate throughout the facility.
■ Once area has been appropriately disinfected, it can be opened for use.
■ Workers without close contact with the person who is sick can return to work
immediately after disinfection.
■ If more than 7 days since the person who is sick visited or used the facility, additional
cleaning and disinfection is not necessary.
Have a plan to
decontaminate
areas at SW
Resources if
any staff
member tests
positive for
COVID-19.

SW Resources Re-Entry Plan

  • 2. CONSIDERATIONS FOR PEOPLE, PLACE, AND PROCESSES PEOPLE PROCESSE S PLAC E
  • 4. Physical Distancing Measures Ensure 6 feet between employees: have employees stretch both arms out to their sides to help them estimate how far they should be away from their neighbor Employees who work in areas that are smaller or confined must wear a mask at all times unless working alone Apply social distance reminders on the floor and walls where traffic is likely to create a line of people (restroom, clock in/clock out areas, front desk)
  • 5. ▪HAVE EMPLOYEESTAKETHE “HOW WELL DOYOU KNOW COVID-19”QUIZ AS A PRETEST (APPENDIX C) . ▪THEN HAVE EMPLOYEESWATCHTHE FOLLOWINGVIDEO LINKS BYTHE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROLAND PREVENTIONAS PART OFTHEIR REENTRYTRAINING ▪THEN HAVETHE EMPLOYEESTAKE THE SAME QUIZ AS A POSTTESTAND COMPARE RESULTS (APPENDIX C). “Symptoms of Coronavirus Disease 2019” https://youtu.be/7zzfdYShvQU “Social Distancing” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xdd 2M40Leb0 “COVID-19 Stop the Spread of Germs” https://youtu.be/W-zhhSQDD1U Help SW Resources employees learn basics of COVID-19 via videos and simple 5 question quiz The videos do include some reading of subtitles.
  • 6. KEEPING SW RESOURCES SAFE FOR EMPLOYEES AND PATRONS PLACE
  • 7. Considerations for safety and protective measures  Provide employees with acceptable face coverings, gloves, and any other necessary personal protective equipment necessary to do their job.  Develop a method for how SW Resources plans to label, store, and wash the employee masks. The CDC recommends daily while the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases recommends weekly washing may be sufficient depending on how often and how long the masks are worn and the activities done while using a mask (2020).  Used masks cannot be stored together, but they can be washed together using a normal laundry detergent in the hottest water possible and dry at the hottest setting.  Perhaps the employees can be encouraged to wash them daily and then keep all the masks at SW Resources on Friday to have support staff wash and be ready to go Monday morning when employees arrive.  If you are concerned the employees may not bring the masks back daily, it may be simpler to have employees just turn them in to the staff daily as they enter their vehicle to go home and have SW Resources support staff wash the masks daily to prepare for work the following day.
  • 8.  Determine what objects employees usually share to perform their tasks and prepare a surplus of these objects.  Impress upon the employees that the face masks are to keep others safe from each other, if we all wear masks then that equals an environment where we keep illness down are more likely to keep SW Resources open for business and everyone gets to keep working.  Taking into individual capability, try to make everyone feel accountable for keeping their coworkers healthy by following the guidelines  Make entrance and exits for singular direction when available  Allow for single entrance doors to stay open when there are not double door rooms Protective Measures cont.
  • 9. HYGIENE AND CLEANING  Maintain a log of who did the cleaning, date, time, and scope of cleaning performed.  Adhere to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Occupational Health and Safety Association, and Department of Health for cleaning and disinfecting
  • 10. Increase frequency of cleaning and disinfecting high touch surfaces: clock-in/clock-out area tables doorknobs light switches countertops handles desks phones keyboards toilets faucets sinks To Clean  Wear disposable gloves to clean and disinfect.  Clean surfaces using soap and water, then use disinfectant.  Cleaning with soap and water reduces number of germs, dirt and impurities on the surface. Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces. To Disinfect  Follow the instructions on the label to ensure safe and effective use of the product. Many products recommend:  Keeping surface wet for a period of time (see product label).  Precautions such as wearing gloves and making sure you have good ventilation during use of the product.  A full list of approved disinfectants against COVID-19 is available on the Environmental Protection Agency website https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registration/list-n- disinfectants-use-against-sars-cov-2-covid-19
  • 11. Cleaning and Disinfecting  Diluted household bleach solutions may also be used if appropriate for the surface.  Check the label to see if your bleach is intended for disinfection and has a sodium hypochlorite concentration of 5%–6%. Ensure the product is not past its expiration date. Some bleaches, such as those designed for safe use on colored clothing or for whitening may not be suitable for disinfection.  Unexpired household bleach will be effective against coronaviruses when properly diluted.  Follow manufacturer’s instructions for application and proper ventilation. Never mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleanser.  Leave solution on the surface for at least 1 minute  To make a bleach solution, mix:  5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per gallon of room temperature water OR  4 teaspoons bleach per quart of room temperature water  Bleach solutions will be effective for disinfection up to 24 hours.  Alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol may also be used.
  • 12. Soft surfaces such as carpeted floor, rugs, and drapes  Clean the surface using soap and water or with cleaners appropriate for use on these surfaces.  Launder items (if possible) according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Use the warmest appropriate water setting and dry items completely.  OR  Disinfect with an EPA-registered household disinfectant.  Vacuum as usual. Electronics such as tablets, touch screens, keyboards, remote controls, and ATM machines  Consider putting a wipeable cover on electronics.  Follow manufacturer’s instruction for cleaning and disinfecting.  If no guidance, use alcohol-based wipes or sprays containing at least 70% alcohol. Dry surface thoroughly. Laundry for items such as for clothing, towels, linens and other items  Launder according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Use the warmest appropriate water setting and dry items completely.
  • 13.  Have small group scheduled hand sanitizing times (still following social distancing guidelines)  Increase the availability of hand sanitizing stations (at least at every workstation in the production rooms and shipping sections)  Visual cues throughoutSW Resources  Place an impermeable barrier between employees when social distancing is not permissible.  Small group education with frequent reinforcement, by trained health professionals  Training should include when to use PPE, what PPE is necessary,  how to properly don (put on), use, and doff (take off) PPE  how to properly dispose of PPE.  No touch trash receptacles  Convert seldom used rooms to areas for lunch gatherings to stay below ten people at a time per room  Staggered start and stop times Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Always wash immediately after removing gloves and after contact with another staff Hand sanitizer: If soap and water are not available and hands are not visibly dirty, an alcohol- based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol may be used. However, if hands are visibly dirty, always wash hands with soap and water. Miscellaneous considerations for work areas at SW Resources
  • 14. ■ After blowing one’s nose coughing, or sneezing ■ After using the restroom ■ Before eating or preparing food ■ Before and after helping another staff with a task even if PPE is used ■ After touching garbage ■ Before and after the work shift ■ Before and after work breaks ■ After touching objects that have been handled by customers Key times to promote hand washing hygiene practices at SW Resources
  • 15. PROCESSES AND COORDINATION AT SW RESOURCES  Considerations for employee daily screening processes  Building a coordinated plan when there is a positiveCovid-19 employee
  • 16. Develop a system for screening employees before they enter the building  Possibly have designated personnel screen employees before they exit their vehicle at drop off to prevent ill individuals from spreading germs  At the very least there should be designated screening areas with separate exits  Daily screenings to include checking temperatures (preferably touchless thermometers), and ask about the presence of a cough and the appearance of new episodes of shortness of breath  The ability to log employee statistics can help track individual employee's health and better predict oncoming illness in an employee (Appendix D)  SW Resources could consider assigning coded numbers to employees that do not contain identifiers Staying in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and AccountabilityAct (HIPAA) when recording employee health data Under the U.S. Equal EmploymentOpportunityCommission and the American DisabilitiesAct, medical information for employees must be contained in a completely separate file apart from the employee’s personnel file.
  • 17. ■ Close off areas used by the person who is sick. ■ SW Resources does not necessarily need to close operations, if affected areas can be closed off. ■ Open outside doors and windows to increase air circulation in the area. ■ Wait 24 hours before you clean or disinfect. If 24 hours is not feasible, wait as long as possible. ■ Clean and disinfect all areas used by the person who is sick, such as offices, bathrooms, common areas, shared electronic equipment like tablets, touch screens, keyboards, remote controls, and ATM machines. ■ Vacuum the space if needed. Use vacuum equipped with high-efficiency particular air (HEPA) filter, if available. ■ Do not vacuum a room or space that has people in it.Wait until the room or space is empty to vacuum, such as at night, for common spaces, or during the day for private rooms. ■ Consider temporarily turning off room fans and the central HVAC system that services the room or space, so that particles that escape from vacuuming will not circulate throughout the facility. ■ Once area has been appropriately disinfected, it can be opened for use. ■ Workers without close contact with the person who is sick can return to work immediately after disinfection. ■ If more than 7 days since the person who is sick visited or used the facility, additional cleaning and disinfection is not necessary. Have a plan to decontaminate areas at SW Resources if any staff member tests positive for COVID-19.
