INTRODUCTION
 Communication skills are developed and may be
enhanced or improved with increased knowledge
and practice. During interpersonal communication,
there is message sending and message receiving
process.. This can be conducted using both direct
and indirect methods. Successful interpersonal
communication is when the message senders and
the message receivers understand the message.
HAND HYGIENE
 Hand washing or hand hygiene is the act of cleaning
one's hand for the purpose of removing soil dirt and
micro organisms .
 Hand washing is the most effective way to prevent
the spread of germs.
 It prevents communicable diseases such as,
,diarrhoea , Influenza , Common cold etc
 Germs can be spread from open defication, open
drainage system, playing , hand shaking , etc.
PURPOSE OF DEMONSTRATION
 Identify who should practice hand hygiene
 What is Hand Hygiene ?
 Where to practice ?
 Why is it important ?
 When to be performed ?
 How to practice ?
PROCESS OF HAND WASHING
1. Wet hands under running water.
2. Apply soap.
3. Rub hands together for 15 sec.
4. Palm to palm.
5. Rub fingertips of each hands in opposite palm.
6. Rub between and around fingers.
7. Rub each thumbs clasped in opposite hand.
8. Rub back of each hand with opposite palm.
9. Rinse hands thoroughly with running water
HAND WASHING TECHNIQUE
 Hand hygiene is regarded as the most important
intervention to reduce health care associated
infection.
OBSERVATION & ANALYSIS
Following observations can be made on the basisof the
responses of the students of the ' Chironji lal javitri devi
School '
 Students were very excited about the activity and they
shared their interest in it .
 Initially they themselves demonstrated us how they
wash their hands regularly .
 Some students were aware about the WHO techniques
of handwashing as they were informed by their teacher
.
 Some of the students were not participating maybe
they were not feeling comfortable because we were
new to them or they were not interested .
 One of them named ……… said ,"Didi , humein pata
hai , hum karke dikhate hain apko , humari teacher
ne sikhaya tha,”
From this statement this can be analysed that they
were actively participating in the activity
 Students were interested in practicing new activities .
They are full of anticipation and potentials.
 Students were aware about the techniques of
handwashing . Thus they are taught by thier
teachers in school.
APPLICATION OF SOCIAL WORK
 SKILLS.
Interpersonal communication (IPC).
 Principles of social work.
EVALUATION
• Students were aware about the handwashing
techniques but not properly .
• After demonstrating the technique , they memorized
the process and explained it .
• Further campaign and demonstration should be
conducted to make them aware about the hand
washing techniques properly .
• Teacher's of the school should focus on the
developmental skills of students.
