2. Introduction
This survey is done to help me make the best music magazine I can. I have a variety of
open and closed questions to further help me gain both qualitative and quantitative
data.
Closed Questions: These type of questions give me data quickly and is normally
quantitative as there options given for the audience to look at and select
Open Questions: These type of questions give me data that can’t give me data quickly.
This question is open to a whole variety of questions and gives me qualitative data.
Quantitative Data: This is normally associated with closed questions and gives me
figures to work with when analysing data
Qualitative Data: This is normally associated with open questions and gives me the
thoughts and opinions of the sample.
My sample size is 15
3. General Information Of Sample
On this slide I just wanted to get a general idea of the people I am sampling before I ask them the subject related questions.

5. R&B Perceptions & Concepts
This slide mainly focuses on the perceptions of the R&B genre
What age range would you consider
the R&B genre to be in? This question is debatable in regards to results. This is because the sample may think that
15 - 19 20 - 24 25 - 29 30+ R&B is available for everyone but there isn’t an option to pick it. Nevertheless I asked
them to pick a specific age range and 40% of my sample said R&B belongs to the 15 – 15
year old genre

6. Open Questions
Open questions doesn’t give me quantitative data, so to analyse this kind of data, I will be noting down any notable/common responses that
I got.
What words would you associate with the R&B genre?
Notable Responses: I asked this question to get an idea of what I can call my magazine. Responses that

7. Conclusion
Overall, what I have found out with my questionnaire is that the R&B genre is
beginning to be synonymous with the 15 – 19 year old demographic; however as
people grow older R&B may still be in their minds. I have also discovered that more
people would rather subscribe to a music magazine than buy individual magazines on
a weekly basis. However if they were to buy a single magazine, they would spend in
between the region of £0 - £3.99.
I have also learnt that the main concept of my magazine should be based around
current artists rather than previous or any future artists. However I would like to focus
on the future of R&B as many young audiences will want to find out who they may be
listening to in the future.
