The reason I have done this survey is to see what the public would like to see in a music
magazine. I created a survey and ten people answered and gave their opinion on what they
would like to read in a music magazine and what their favourite genres of music are.
This chart shows which ages have taken the
survey I produced. This chart shows that most of
the people who took part in my survey were 18
years old or younger and that there is an equal
divide between the other two ages that had
taken part in my survey. These ages were 35 to
44 and 45 to 54. 40% of people were 18 or
under, 30% was 35 to 44 and 30% were 45 to
54.
This chart shows the gender of the people
who had taken my survey. There were more
women who had taken part in the survey
than men. 60% of people who had taken my
survey were women and 40% of people who
had taken my survey were men.
The genre that was favoured was pop music.
After this there was an equal divide in three other
genres picked. These genres were; rock, indie and
rap/hip hop. 10% of people chose rock, 70%chose
pop music, 10% chose rap and hip hop and 10%
chose indie music.

The favoured answer was no and if not why. The
responses that were given for not reading music
magazines were that the people did not have any
interest in reading about music they just listened to
the music and that they could find information
about the music or artist via social media or in
other ways but did not want to read a
music magazine. 10 % of people answered yes, 10
% answered no and 8% said if no why not and put
their reason.
Most people skipped this
question as they did not answer

reason to answer this question

magazines online and 80% of
people skipped this question as
they do not read music
magazines.

With this question there were four options to
choose from which were; 1 to 2 hours, 2 to 4 hours
and 4 hours or more listening to music. 20% of
people answered with 1 to 2 hours, 50% of people
said they listen to music for 2 to 4 hours and 30%
of people said they listen to music of 4 or more
hours.
With this question there were three
options to choose from. These were;
yes, no, if not why? 10% of people
answered yes, 30% of people answered
no and 20 % of people answered if not
why and they gave their reason. The
reasons were as they were only
interested in the content of the
magazine.
With this question there were six different
names of music magazines which were;
NME, VIBE, Kerrang, Uncut, Q Magazine
and other.
10% of people answered with NME and
20% of people said other and 70% of
people skipped this question as they did
not read them.

This questions asked people if the colours
related to the style of music they listen to
and the magazine. For example rock music
may be associated with dark colours or
colours such as; red, black, blues.
30% of people answered that the colours
of the magazine they read about their
style of music do relate and 20% of people
said that the colours did not relate to the
style of music they listen too.
In conclusion the participants did not read music magazines but would if there was an online
version as this would make it easier to get hold of. The favourite genre of music was pop
music however there was a range of answers so I will include all genres of music in my
magazine.
