The Sureflow device removes air and dissolved oxygen from heating systems to prevent corrosion. It creates a vortex that draws air out of solution through an automatic air vent. This results in higher flow and return temperatures, increased hot water supply, and savings of up to £150 per year for the average household. Over its 40-year lifespan, it can save £6,000 on fuel bills and reduce CO2 emissions by 40 tonnes. Installation is simple, with no ongoing maintenance needed other than occasional cleaning of the air vent.
Combustion sources such as furnaces and fired
heaters play a critical role in the process industry.
Unfortunately, combustion requires large amounts of
fuel (gas, fuel oil). As a result, combustion efficiency
directly influences the performance and operational
costs of production facilities. However, efficiency is not
the only concern. Compliance and safety are major
challenges as well.
Webster Engineering, a leader in burner manufacturing and combustion control, now offers a combustion air temperature trim system that should give you a 2-3% savings in your fuel bill. With out the cost and complexity of a conventional O2 trim system.

Fired heaters are often suffering from high tube metal temperatures and short run lengths. Operators are always worried about hot spots in the furnace. While refineries want to push the heaters hard, the heater starts coking up and very soon, the heater tubes have to be cleaned.
FIS has done extensive research and CFD modelling of heaters in the recent time and has concluded that localized burner flame and hot flue gas currents are responsible for the hot spots on the tubes. FIS has now developed a new patented technology for solving hot spot problems. This technology called Inclined Firing Technology involves orienting the burners at an angle on the floor / wall/ roof to direct the flame away from the tubes. The results of this technology have been extremely good and with a very low investment, the reliability and run length of the heater is improved significantly.
Brief introduction to Fired Heaters operation and design. Definition of the different Heaters in the industry and brief strategy how to operate them safely.
Fired heaters are used for heating hydrocarbons fluids in the refineries and petrochemical plants. They are used for high temperature heat transfer. In most fired heaters, we are burning fuel gas as source of heat . There are many heaters in the world where liquid fuel is also burnt in the fired heaters to provide the energy, but their number is decreasing due to tighter pollution laws. Heaters that are processing hydrocarbons services are prone to coking and cracking depending upon the nature of the hydrocarbons being processed. Typically heaters may run length of anywhere from 3 months for coking service to 6 years for different services. Heater designers and operators are always faced with the challenge of providing uniform heat transfer to all the tubes. Engineers use equations that assume uniform heat transfer to heater tubes When designing fired heaters. However, in reality, most fired heaters do not experience uniform heat transfer, and as a result, hot spots develop on the tubes. These hot spots cause coking inside the tubes which requires the heater be shutdown periodically to remove the coke and clean the tubes. Any shutdown to clean the tubes in a fired heater causes a substantial production loss. The owners want to extend the run length of fired heaters. Furnace Improvements has developed a new patented firing technology that provides uniform heat transfer to heater tubes. This technology can be applied to most fired heaters. Our patented technology reorients the burners at a slight angle away from the tubes. We are able to direct the hottest part of the flames and flue gases away from the tubes without affecting the heat transfer in any way. FIS has installed this in 5 heaters ranging from 14 MMBtu/hr. to 280 MMBtu/hr. The clients are experiencing significant reduction in tube metal temperatures. This is translating into lower coking rates and higher tube life. We have been able to increase the capacity of the heaters in most of the cases. In one of the case study that has been presented in this heater, the heater duty was increased from 14 MMBtu/hr. to 21 MMBtu/hr. Inclined firing improves the heat transfer to the tubes and makes in uniform.
.Coker heaters are one of the most critical heaters in the refineries. The feed is heated to a very high temperature. Run length is one of the important factors for coker heaters. We have worked recently worked on a conventional Coker heater and implemented several improvements while retubing the radiant section.
Process Heaters, Furnaces and Fired Heaters: Improving Efficiency and Reducin...Belilove Company-Engineers
A process heater is a direct-fired heat exchanger that uses the hot gases of combustion to raise the temperature of a feed owing through coils of tubes aligned throughout the heater. Depending on the use, these are also called furnaces or red heaters. Some heaters simply deliver the feed at a predetermined temperature to the next stage of the reaction process; others perform reactions on the feed while it travels through the tubes.

Stack dampers are one of the insignificant yet important component of fired heaters in the refining industry. Over 90% of the heaters in the USA are natural draft and are dependent upon the draft for efficient combustion of fuel gas with air. Stack dampers currently installed are highly oversized and are not able to control draft effectively. Furnace Improvements patent pending design overcomes these limitations and improves the damper control significantly by installing multiple actuators and changing the control characteristics of the dampers.

In case you missed it !! NuTech gave a presentation at the recent Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) Conference for BER Assessors. The presentation deals mainly with how the NuTech Solar Enhanced Heating and Hot Water system can be used together with a simple and reliable gas boiler system can be used to comply with Part L & achieve an A Rated House. The presentation also gives information on the NuTech Solar Enhanced Ventilation and Hot Water system can be used to satisfy Part L.
Homeowners with natural gas water heaters have difficulty justifying the expense of a more efficient condensing heater. Combination space and domestic hot water systems bundle together the two loads, which saves energy and makes them more cost-effective. These systems also help eliminate combustion safety concerns.
Historically, mechanical contractors have custom engineered and pieced together combi systems in the field, paying little attention to efficiency and optimization. But condensing heating plants will only reach their energy saving potential when all components are designed and installed correctly.

INTRODUCTION
Sureflow
Sureflow, the unique device with no moving parts that
reduces oxygen to an inert level (below 0.5 ppm) to
prevent corrosion within heating systems.
Sureflow creates a vortex so that trapped air and
especially dissolved air within the heating water can be
removed through an automatic air vent.
This eliminates the formation of magnetites in the system
and results in increased flow and return temperatures by
an average of 10°C and an increase in domestic hot water
supply by over 2°C
Savings
The potential savings are significant:
• Average household will save £150 per year
• Over its lifetime it could save £6,000 on fuel bills and 40
tonnes of CO2 emissions
• Increased peace of mind
The average household that installs the Sureflow will save
around £150 a year on heating bills, giving average
paybacks within 36 months based on a typical fuel spend
of £1,100 per year.
As Sureflow has a minimum life span of 40 years, over the
product’s lifetime it could save up to £6,000 on fuel bills
along with 40 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Of particular benefit to social landlords is the reduced cost
of maintenance associated with the installation of
Sureflow.
This saving can be as much if not more significant than the
savings associated with heating bills.
DON'T JUST COLLECT YOUR
CORROSION WITH MAGNETIC
FILTERS, PREVENT IT!
Sureflow removes the air and
the dissolved oxygen, which
causes corrosion, from the
heating system water.
Without corrosion your boiler
and radiators last longer.
The removal of air leads to a
higher efficiency which means
saving money on energy bills,
up to 20% saving.

Three Phase Voltage OptimiserHOW ITWORKS
How It Works
1. Sureflow works in a very simple way by harnessing phenomena
created by the circulating pump.
2. As the water enters the Sureflow the action of the
pump causes it to spin into a vortex. In the middle
of the vortex there is a low pressure zone which
is sufficient to draw the dissolved air from
solution.
3. As the water reaches the outlet of the
Sureflow the action of the vortex
increases and the bubbles of air,
now out of solution, rise upwards
and are collected through a dip
tube to be released from the
system through an air vent.
4. With pre-fitted compression
connections, installation
couldn’t be simpler and
there is no annual
maintenance needed.
Fitting
Sureflow should ideally be
fitted as close to the boiler as
possible but if this is not
possible Sureflow can be
fitted anywhere on the
heating system and will still
work. Sureflow can be fitted
in a boiler room, kitchen, hot
press/airing cupboard or any
other location containing the
flow and return pipes. This could
even be in the roof space but in
this case the Sureflow would need
to be insulated.

Three Phase Voltage OptimiserTESTIMONIALS
TESTIMONIALS
BELA J (WEST MIDLANDS)
“As soon as the Sureflow was installed I found I had to turn down the thermostat on the boiler because
the radiators got very much hotter - which implies that the Sureflow is achieving something significant.”
RETIRED PLUMBER (WILTSHIRE)
“Our oil consumption fell in the year after the Sureflow was installed. We closely monitor our use of oil
and have done so for the past ten years at least. Whilst no two winters are the same in terms of weather
there was a definite reduction in oil consumption post Sureflow installation and that reduction was
around 10%. There was also a noticeable reduction in system noise as the air was purged from it although
we still get the occasional bubble moving around the pipes. This is more likely to be caused by the layout
of our pipework than any issue with Sureflow.”
JENNIFER RICHARDS (ABERDEEN)
“I cannot say precisely how much the Sureflow has contributed towards savings because of the very cold
winter and other improvements I have made to my home, however I would say the heating bill is about
1/3 the average for the house size we have and it logically must be part due to the Sureflow, there is no
rust buildup in the water either so the claims of how it works seem to be correct.”
MRS. ETHAL WHITE (MANCHESTER)
“The Sureflow has been fitted for a little over a year (I think) and there has been no need to bleed the
system during that time.”
MR. BILL GRAYSON (SOMERSET)
“I installed my Sureflow some 2 years ago and since then have been anxious to determine whether it has
given any tangible improvement to my central heating system performance. I can say that bleeding of
radiators is now a forgotten art as far as our household is concerned - air just does not get into the
system. We run the boiler at a lower temperature as recommended and find there is no loss of heating
performance across the home - indeed if anything we feel that the system is much less stressed even in
the depths of winter. Overall we feel that Sureflow has made a significant improvement to our central
heating system, improved its performance and reduced the overall running costs. The only evidence to
support such a statement is that while fuel costs have risen quite dramatically, the cost of running our
heating system has not increased and our heating engineer is much impressed by that experience.”
MRS TURNER (LONDON)
"An excellent system. Makes the hot water so much hotter and the central heating system so much
quieter! I just know that, because the boiler is turned down a notch yet giving the same heat output, that
we are for sure saving on our heating bills."

Three Phase Voltage OptimiserFAQS
What size of pipe work can Sureflow be fitted to?
Sureflow comes in standard connection size of 22mm to suit normal domestic heating systems. For heat pump installations
and abnormally large domestic heating systems, Sureflow can be provided as a special order with 28mm connections.
Is Sureflow either complicated or expensive to install?
No. Sureflow has only two connections and an auto air vent, which is provided to install. Including the drain down and
recommission installation should take no more than two hours.
Is the Sureflow connected to electricity?
No, the Sureflow has no working parts and does not require an electrical connection.
I have a deaerator fitted, why do I need Sureflow?
It was thought that fitting a deaerator would solve the problems of corrosion in heating systems, but, as we have
discovered, they only deal with the symptoms. Some actually have a sludge trap, so are not deaerating fully. Sureflow,
when installed, will reduce dissolved air to such a level, that even after years of continuous running the heating water will
remain crystal clear.
Can Sureflow be fitted to a tank fed or gravity system?
Yes, Sureflow was originally designed to be installed with tank or gravity fed system to great effect.
Is Sureflow required on a “Sealed” system?
Yes, it was considered that a sealed system once purged of air would be free of air and therefore Sureflow would be
unnecessary. It has been established that over time, even in sealed systems air infiltrates the heating system through
valves, pumps, etc. and needs to be removed.
What is the limitation to the types of heating system that Sureflow can be installed with?
There are no limitations to the type of domestic heating system that Sureflow can be installed with.
How quickly does the Sureflow affect the performance of a heating system?
The effect on a heating system is almost immediate, then, over the next three to four weeks, there is a gradual
improvement over and above the initial improvement.
My heating system has had a corrosion inhibiter added, will Sureflow still work?
Yes. All Boiler manufacturers provide corrosion inhibiters with new boilers. The inhibiter will not affect the way Sureflow
eliminates dissolved air.
I have a ground source heat pump. Will Sureflow work the ground loop?
Yes. Recent research has shown that the addition of Sureflow to a ground loop may provide an increase in CoP.
Can Sureflow be installed with oil boilers?
Yes. Sureflow will bring about a benefit to oil, gas, lpg and electric boilers. Results may vary.
I have an old fire back boiler. Will Sureflow help it become more efficient?
Most certainly. Sureflow was developed from an original technology that was specifically intended for fire back boilers.
I live in a flat with a fireback boiler and have constant problems with having to bleed radiators, will Sureflow help me
overcome this problem?
Yes. Sureflow has been designed to work with heating systems that have a very low feed and expansion tank. It will be a
tremendous benefit to your system. It will eliminate all the air that is sucked in to a system with a very low feed and
expansion tank very quickly before it can do any harm to your system.
My system is quite old and has always been noisy. Can Sureflow help with this problem?
Yes. The cause of the noise in this system is air that has formed bubbles which causes a “kettling” noise. Other noises such as
gurgling are also caused by air. Sureflow eliminates dissolved and free air which will stop all the noises associated with air.
I have a ground source heat pump. Will Sureflow be any benefit to the performance of it and how?
There are two ways to improve the performance of a ground source heat pump. Sureflow may be installed with the ground
loop in isolation. This will improve the rate at which the refrigerant absorbs the low grade heat from the ground. A second
Sureflow installed in the primary circuit will improve the way the heating water conducts the heat from the plate heat
exchanger.
I have a combination boiler. Can Sureflow be fitted to it?
Yes, The pump on a combination boiler is “on the return”, so Sureflow is simply fitted to the heating return pipe coming
back to the boiler.
