Sustainability Reporting and Corporate Performance of Conglomerate and Indust...YogeshIJTSRD
Sustainability reporting remains a continuing concern as stakeholders demand for firms to be more socially, environmentally, and economically responsible continues to increase especially in developing countries like Nigeria. Thus, the study examined the effect of sustainability reporting disclosures of conglomerate and industrial goods manufacturing firms in Nigeria on their market share and return on assets. The study employed an ex post facto research design as data were obtained from the annual report of firms for a period of ten years 2010 2019 . Multiple regression analytical tools with the help of SPSS version 23 were used in analyzing the data for 16 conglomerate and industrial goods firms selected using the purposive sampling technique. The findings revealed that sustainability reporting has positive effect on market share and return on assets of firms studied. Based on the findings, it was concluded that sustainability reporting affects the performance of manufacturing firms and it was recommended that standard setters and government should develop a standard mandatory disclosure framework to ensure consistency and uniformity in reporting and also, companies are encouraged to disclose their economic, social and environmental information all geared to help stakeholders make informed decision. Effect of Corporate Governance on Profitability of Quoted Manufacturing Compa...YogeshIJTSRD
The study determined the extent corporate governance affect profitability of quoted manufacturing companies in Nigeria using board size, board independence, directors’ shares and profit margin of quoted manufacturing companies in Nigeria. Only secondary data was used for the successful execution of this research work. Three hypotheses were formulated for this study while data extracted through the financial statement was tested with the Regression statistical tool using the E view 9. The outcome of the analyses carried out showed that board size has negative but significant effect on net profit margin of manufacturing companies quoted on the Nigeria Stock Exchange. It is therefore recommended that board size should be relative to the firm’s business need, scope and complexity. Since no two firms are exactly alike in all ramifications, it is important that an appropriate size be understood to be a function of each firm’s circumstances. Setting arbitrary board size benchmarks will therefore be counterproductive. Okoye, Pius V. C. | Ugwu, Scholastica C. Access to Agricultural Credit and Cassava Production A Study of Selected Coop...YogeshIJTSRD
This study examined access to agricultural credit and cassava production A study of selected cooperative farmers in Anambra State, Nigeria. This study adopted a descriptive survey research design that aimed to determine the relationship between the independent variables and dependent variable in a population. The population of this study was made up of 2978 members of selected thirty six cooperative societies in Anambra State. A sample of 353 was determined for the study using Taro Yamani formula. A structured questionnaire was administered to 353 respondents only 348 responded to the questionnaire. The data collected using the questionnaire was analyzed using descriptive statistics like frequency, mean and standard deviation and also inferential statistics such as regression analysis and t test statistics. All analysis was conducted using SPSS version 23. Findings show that all the five coefficients cost of cooperative credit, amount of credit borrowed, loan repayment period, interest paid and loan repayment performance significantly influence cassava production in Anambra State. In general, the joint effect of the explanatory variables independent variables in the model account for 0.883 or 88.3 of the variations in the influence of cooperative credit on cassava production in Anambra State, Nigeria. This implies that 88.3 of the variations in the cassava production are being accounted for or explained by the variations in the explanatory variables. While other independent variables not captured in the model explain just 11.7 of the variations in cassava production. The study therefore recommends that credit institutions should supervise and spread the repayment period for credit obtained in such a way that the cost will not be heavy. Adequate credit facilities should be provided for farmers to enable them increase their production capacity. The loan repayment period for the farmers should be well spread to enhance their productivity among others. Low interest rate should be charged farmer to enable them reduce their rate of defaulting repayment. Nwafor, Grace Obiageli | Umebali, Emmanuel E. Analysis of the Determinants of Fish Quality in Export MarketsYogeshIJTSRD
Quality of a product is ultimately defined by customers based on the conformance and performance of the product. Attainment of quality requires the performance of a wide variety of identifiable activities. The introduction of modern technology, highly skilled employees and other activities alone do not determine quality unless there is customers’ involvements in the specification of quality determinants. This paper explained the importance of business relationships and customer involvements on the determination of quality fish products in export markets. Adoption of Vendor Managed Inventory Practices on Supply Chain Performance in...AkashSharma618775
Following the Corona pandemic, which has spread across the world by September 2020, many companies
around the world have been aware of the fact that they should always strive to inculcate and rely on the efficient
supply chains and networks in order to compete effectively in international markets and to sustain their
competitive edge. As a matter of fact, the management of supply chain has caused a paradigm shift in the way most
organisation operates (Brandt, 2009) The main objective of this study was to determine role of adoption of vendor
managed inventory practices on supply chain management performance in the selected automobile industries in
Nairobi County, Kenya with specific objective to establish role of supplier demand visibility, communication
mechanism, inventory decisions, replenishment decisions and supply chain management performance in the
selected automobile industries. The study adopted a cross sectional research design. The target population
comprised employees in supply chain department in selected automobile companies in Nairobi according to their
size. Snowball sampling technique was adopted in this study. A semi- structured questionnaire was administered
through the e-mail survey and hand delivery. Secondary data was obtained from both published and unpublished
records. The questionnaire was tested for validity and reliability. Both quantitative and qualitative techniques was
used to analyses the data with the assistance of SPSS software program version 25. The study found that supplier
demand visibility, communication mechanism, inventory decisions, replenishment decisions have significant role
on supply chain management performance in the selected automobile industries. In conclusion the study
recommended that automobile manufacturing companies should source for more resources, work on its time
constraints and negative attitude from some stakeholders and public when undertaking the process. Further the
companies need to gain visibility into their complex network of suppliers and logistics providers to collectively
sense and properly respond to changes in supply and demand, customers are less likely to tolerate delivery or
product errors. Supply chain demand visibility is crucial in preventing order errors and will prevent customers
from taking their business elsewhere. This will ensures them are knowledgeable about every aspect of your

The literature shows little evidence on the effects of the business model upon the volatility of banks in developing and fast growing economies. Hence, this study examines the effects of busi-ness model choice on bank’s stability in ASEAN countries. Using GMM and other robust econo-metric methods on the sample of 99 joint stock commercial banks, we find significant and nega-tive impacts of diversification model in which bank shifts toward non – interest and fee – based activities. We also find that the impacts are different between two groups of countries. For Vi-etnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, the diversification entails negative impacts on the stability while demonstrating positive impacts for Thailand and Malaysia. Upon the findings, we draw policy implications for a more sustainable development in ASEAN banking business.

A descriptive study design was carried out to assess the knowledge, awareness, and perception of an insured person about health insurance in a tertiary care hospital. A well-framed structured questionnaire was administered to the opinions of the 384 respondents (insured and uninsured), out of which 92% are insured and only 8% are uninsured. Only a few (12%) of insured do not know how much policy coverage is there for hospital charges and 27% of insured have chosen health insurance policy in order to avail good quality treatment. The result clearly shows that most people are not that aware of the process of initiating cashless hospitalization. Hence the insurance companies, third-party administrators, and the hospital must work in synergy.

Quality of a product is ultimately defined by customers based on the conformance and performance of the product. Attainment of quality requires the performance of a wide variety of identifiable activities.
This will ensures them are knowledgeable about every aspect of your
inventory and allows firms to better help customers by improving performance and reducing errors. Putting in
place the right infrastructure can help firms to achieve better supply chain visibility and therefore reduce costs,
improve performance and identify problems, ultimately improving your reputation and growth.

Globalization and managing across cultures and borders make the business sense of efficient supply chain management more challenging than ever before. The demand and supply chain can now be as long or as short as the distance between suppliers and consumers who have critical influence on the value chain. This is important because the demand and supply chain processes often have profound effect on productivity levels of the organization. The exploratory research design was deployed for the investigation to gauge the effect of supply chain management on productivity. Through regression analysis it was found that for a 1 percent increase in supply chain management productivity increases by 1.88 percent. Organizations around the globe are getting increasingly concerned about the process with which their goods and services reach the ultimate consumer or customer. It is believed that an effective and efficient supply chain management is the corner stone for customer satisfaction, and to this extent, supply chain management is an important topic in business and management today. According to Chase, et al (2001) the critical idea of supply chain management is to apply a total system approach to managing the entire flow of information, materials and services from raw materials suppliers, through factories and warehouses to the end customer. They posit that the idea of supply chain management comes from a picture of how organizations are linked together as a particular company. Such linkage is typically between suppliers that provide inputs, manufacturing and service support operations that transform the inputs into products and services, and the distribution and local service providers that localize the products. They argue that localization can involve just the delivery of the products or some other processes that tailors the products or services to the needs of the local markets and customers. Enterprises have come to realize that achieving significant competitive advantage depends to a great extent on the way they configure and manage their supply chain operations. Stevenson (2002) states that a supply chain is a sequence of organizations – their facilities, functions, and activities that are involved in producing and delivering a product or service. According to him, the sequence begins with basic suppliers of raw materials and extends all the way to the final customer. Basic facilities in supply chain management include warehouses, factories, processing centres, distribution centres, retail outlets, and offices. On the other hand, the major activities in supply chain management include forecasting, purchasing, scheduling, production, distribution, delivery, and customer service (Copacino, 1997, Marshall, 1997, Handfield, et al, 1999). Stevenson (2002) elaborates that supply chains are sometimes referred to as value chains; a term that reflects the concept that value is added as goods and services progress through the chain supply or value chains

Best Practices in Sustainable Supply Chain Managementijtsrd
Supply chain sustainability refers to the impact a companys supply chain can have on promoting human rights, fair labor practices. There is a growing need to incorporate sustainable options into supply chain management. The growing attention to sustainability is changing the way companies do business. Whether driven by customers, company values or business opportunity, traditional priorities such as quality, efficiency and cost often compete for attention with issues such as working conditions and the environmental impact. Sustainable supply chains capture value chain opportunities and provide early adopters and process innovators with a significant competitive advantage. This study is based on learning the fundamental concepts of sustainable techniques in supply chain management. Effect of Strategic Partner Practice on Supply Chain Performance in Tea Firms...journal ijrtem
Abstract: Strategic partner relationship is a critical issue for any business, especially in supply chain activities. Therefore, it is expected that firms that deliver e-procurement system in the supply chain are likely to strengthen their partner relationship. The purpose of this study was to establish the influence of strategic partnership management practice on supply chain performance in tea firms in Kenya. The study was guided mainly by Resource Based Theory. Explanatory research design was adopted. The target population was 4200 respondents from 12 tea firms. Purposive and proportional sampling was used to select a sample size of 365 respondents comprising of staff, top management and suppliers. Questionnaires and structured interviews were used to collect primary data. Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and linear regressions were used to test strength of the relationship between variables. The strategic partnership practice positively influences the supply chain performance among the tea firms[r=.535, n=231, p<.05]. The regression model indicated that strategic partnership practice account for 28.7% variation on supply chain performance. Hence tea firms enhanced strategic partnership practice purposely to improve supply chain performance by widening supplier relationships among the stakeholders. Tea firms should therefore embrace sound partnership practices to enhance firms’ supply chain performance which in turn lead to profit maximization.

Standardization and Formulations of Calotropis ProceraYogeshIJTSRD
Plants growing in arid regions have elicited increased attention, because the hostile environment, in which these plants survive, forces them to develop chemical protective systems through adaptation which is rarely found in vegetation of other ecosystems. Furthermore, many of the plants grow in areas, where the dependence on traditional, plant based medicines over industrially produced pharmaceuticals persists to this day. The two plants, Calotopris Procera giant milkweed, also named C. Persica and Calotropis gigantea crown ower , have been used widely in traditional medicine in North Africa, the Middle East, and South and South East Asia. This has led to extensive research on the chemical constituents of the plants. Both plants are known to be sources of cardenolides, and newer research has yielded a number of interesting cancer active constituents. In addition, extracts of both plants have remarkable nematocidal, molluscidal and insecticidal activities. In many regions, the wood of Calotropis plants has been used as a building material and as a source of fuel. In addition, certain parts of the plants have been used as feed for livestock. In other regions, Calotropis plants are seen as invasive species that threaten local plant life and that due to their toxicity also pose a threat to grazing eld animals. Review of the Diagnosis and Treatment of ParalysisYogeshIJTSRD
Paralysis is a complete loss of motor power in any muscle group. When paralysis affects all four extremities, it is called quadriplegia when it affects only the lower extremities, paraplegia and when it affects the extremities on one side of the body, hemiplegic. For this reason, the term paralysis is generally reserved for more focal, less stereotyped weakness, for instance, affecting all the muscles innervated by a peripheral nerve. Many different anatomical lesions and etiologies can cause paralysis and determine its treatment. Bikash Debsingha | Dr. Gourav Kr. Automatic Query Expansion Using Word Embedding Based on Fuzzy Graph Connectiv...YogeshIJTSRD
The aim of information retrieval systems is to retrieve relevant information according to the query provided. The queries are often vague and uncertain. Thus, to improve the system, we propose an Automatic Query Expansion technique, to expand the query by adding new terms to the user s initial query so as to minimize query mismatch and thereby improving retrieval performance. Most of the existing techniques for expanding queries do not take into account the degree of semantic relationship among words. In this paper, the query is expanded by exploring terms which are semantically similar to the initial query terms as well as considering the degree of relationship, that is, “fuzzy membership- between them. The terms which seemed most relevant are used in expanded query and improve the information retrieval process. The experiments conducted on the queries set show that the proposed Automatic query expansion approach gave a higher precision, recall, and F measure then non fuzzy edge weights. A New Proposal for Smartphone Based Drowsiness Detection and Warning System f...YogeshIJTSRD
This paper proposes a Smartphone based system for the detection of drowsiness in automotive drivers. The proposed system uses three stage drowsiness detection technique. The first stage uses the percentage of eyelid closure PERCLOS which is obtained by capturing images with the front camera of the Smartphone with a modified eye state classification method. The system uses near infrared lighting for illuminating the face of the driver during night driving. The second step uses the voiced to the unvoiced ratio VUR obtained from the speech data from the microphone, in the event PERCLOS crosses the threshold. The VUR is also compared with a threshold and if it is a value greater than that of the threshold, it moves on to the next verification stage. In the final verification stage, touch response is required within the stipulated time to declare whether the driver is drowsy or not and subsequently sound an alarm. To awake the driver, a vibrating mechanism is done and also the live GPS location is also sent to an emergency contact. We have studied eight other reference papers for the literature review. The system has three advantages over existing drowsiness detection systems. First, the three stage verification process makes the system more reliable. The second advantage is its implementation on an Android smart phone, which is readily available to most drivers or cab owners as compared to other general purpose embedded platforms. The third advantage is the use of SMS service to inform the control room as well as the passenger regarding the loss of attention of the driver. Data Security by AES Advanced Encryption StandardYogeshIJTSRD
Now a days with the rapid development of multimedia technologies, research on safety and security are becoming more important. Multimedia data are generated and transmitted through the communication channels and the wireless media. The efficiencies of encryption based on different existing algorithms are not up to the satisfactory limit. Hence researchers are trying to modify the existing algorithm or even develop new algorithms that help to increase security with a little encryption time. Here in this paper, we have furnished a new technology to modify the AES algorithm which gives more security with a little encryption time and which can be used to encrypt using 128 bit key. Theoretical analysis on the proposed algorithm with the existing reveals the novelty of our work. Here we have proposed a technique to randomize the key and hidden the key data into an encrypted digital image using the basics concept of cryptography and also using the concept of digital watermarking, the concept of key hide has also been encrypted. We have also proposed a new technique to reposition the pixels to break the correlation between them. So, the proposed scheme offers a more secure and cost effective mechanism for encryption. Next on the AES criteria list good performance. Widespread market adoption will require reasonably good performance on a variety of platforms, ranging from easy tocrack smart cards to the largest servers. Good algorithm performance includes speed for the encryption and decryption process as well as the key schedule. The objectives of the study are a To determine the current stress level, b To assess relation between stress level and lifestyle of college students. The present study was carried out in Ahmedabad City of Gujarat State. A total of 400 medical students were included in the study, which were selected using multi stage sampling aged between 18 years to 25 years. Students were questioned regarding their socioeconomic and life style parameters. The results showed that physical activity such as walking, exercise, yoga, meditation etc. were associated to stress levels. College students showed high stress levels with more satisfaction were mostly smokers. Their major reason for eating junk food and smoking was, increase in stress. Conclusion Majority of students suffered from moderate stress levels. Despite of having stress they were happy and satisfied with life with less no internet addiction. Spirituality and stress scales had a positive correlation as most of the students were averagely highly spiritual. Discriminant function can be used to determine the stress level of a person using age, BMI, internet addiction, spirituality, happiness scale and life satisfaction scale of that person. Jayshree N. Comparative Studies of Diabetes in Adult Nigerians Lipid Profile and Antioxid...YogeshIJTSRD
The study sought to determine the extent to which the usage of social media in the marketing of agricultural products in South West Nigeria can enhance farmers turnover. It employed the survey research design to collect data with the help of a structured questionnaire to elicit information from respondents selected from six 6 south western states. Research data were analysed using structural equation modelling. The results showed that the use of social media WhatsApp and Facebook in marketing of agricultural products significantly enhances farmers turnover. The managerial implication is that use of Whatsapp and Facebook in the marketing of agricultural products for the enhancement of farmers’ turnover was found to have significant influence on the enhancement in farmers’ turnover from agricultural products. Policy makers in government should provide the enabling environment for the telecommunication companies to enhance their reach by installing their facilities across the length and breadth of the country so that the network coverage will be strong at all times so that the benefits of social media usage will not be constrained. Comparative Analysis of Different Numerical Methods for the Solution of Initi...YogeshIJTSRD
A mathematical equation which involves a function and its derivatives is called a differential equation. We consider a real life situation, from this form a mathematical model, solve that model using some mathematical concepts and take interpretation of solution. It is a well known and popular concept in mathematics because of its massive application in real world problems. Differential equations are one of the most important mathematical tools used in modeling problems in Physics, Biology, Economics, Chemistry, Engineering and medical Sciences. Differential equation can describe many situations viz exponential growth and de cay, the population growth of species, the change in investment return over time. We can solve differential equations using classical as well as numerical methods, In this paper we compare numerical methods of solving initial valued first order ordinary differential equations namely Euler method, Improved Euler method, Runge Kutta method and their accuracy level. We use here Scilab Software to obtain direct solution for these methods. Evaluation of Different Paving Mixes Using Optimum Stabilizing ContentYogeshIJTSRD
Bituminous mixes are most commonly used all over the world in flexible pavement construction. It consists of asphalt or bitumen used as a binder and mineral aggregate which are mixed together, laid down in layers and then compacted. Under normal circumstances, conventional bituminous pavements if designed and executed properly perform quite satisfactorily but the performance of bituminous mixes is very poor under various situations. Today’s asphaltic concrete pavements are expected to perform better as they are experiencing increased volume of traffic, increased loads and increased variations in daily or seasonal temperature over what has been experienced in the past. In addition, the performance of bituminous pavements is found to be very poor in moisture induced situations. Considering this a lot of work has been done on use of additives in bituminous mixtures and as well as on modification of bitumen. Research has indicated that the addition of polymers to asphalt binders helps to increase the interfacial cohesiveness of the bond between the aggregate and the binder which can enhance many properties of the asphalt pavements to help meet these increased demands. However, the additive that is to be used for modification of mix or binder should satisfy both the strength requirements as well as economical aspects. Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

crowded marketplace, Jones, (1998). The SCM has
been careful from different points of vision in
different bodies of literature Croom Romano, and
Giannakis, (2000), such as purchasing and supply
management, logistics and transportation, operations
management, marketing, and management
information systems. Different theories have offered
insights on specific aspects or perspectives of SCM,
such as industrial organization and associated
transaction cost analysis Ellram, (1990),
Rungtusanatham, Salvador, Forza, Choi, (2003).
Therefore, Supply chain activities transform natural
resources, raw materials, and components into a
finished product that is delivered to the end customer.
In sophisticated supply chain systems, used products
may re-enter the supply chain at any point where
residual value is recyclable, (David &Jacoby, 2009).
The comprehensive supply chain management
consists of top decision-making of leading firms from
a wide variety of industries, such as commodity
merchandising, oil and petrochemicals, automotive
manufacturing, athletic equipment, household
plumbing and accessories, and consumer electronics.
Some of companies represent all possible locations
across a supply chain: original suppliers,
manufacturers of industrial products (business to
business), manufacturers of consumer products,
distributors, and retailers.
1.1. Objective of the Study
Ascertain the nature of relationship between Supply
Chain and Production Cost of Brewing plants in
South-East, Nigeria.
1.2. Research Questions
With the above objective in focus, the study seeks to
find answer to the research question:
What is the nature of relationship between Supply
Chain and Production Cost of Brewing Plants in
South-East, Nigeria?
1.3. Research Hypothesis
There is no significant positive relationship between
Supply Chain and Production Cost of Brewing plants
in the South-East, Nigeria.
2. Review of Related Literature
2.1. Supply Chain Management
Stock and Boyer (2009) define SC as the network of
relationships within a firm and between
interdependent organizations and business units
consisting of material suppliers, purchasing,
production facilities, logistics, marketing, and related
systems that facilitate the forward and reverse flow of
materials, services, finances and information from the
original producer to final customer with the benefits
of adding value, maximizing profitability through
efficiencies, and achieving customer satisfaction. SC
practices are defined as the set of activities
undertaken by an organization to promote effective
management of its supply chain (Koh et al., 2007);
such as the approaches applied in integration,
managing and coordination of supply, demand and
relationships in order to satisfy clients in an effective
way as tangible activities/technologies that have a
relevant role in the collaboration of a focal firm with
its suppliers and/or clients and as the approach to
involve suppliers in decision making, encouraging
information sharing and looking for new ways to
integrate upstream activities. As a consequence, it
involves developing customer contacts by customer
feedback to integrate the downstream activities and
delivering orders directly to customers (Chow et al.,
2008).
2.1.1. Production Cost
Production Cost is the total price paid for resources
used to manufacture a product or create a service to
sell to consumers including raw materials, labor, and
overhead (Argilés and Slof, 2003). It includes costs
related to making or acquiring goods and services that
directly generate revenue for a firm. It comprises of
direct costs and indirect costs. Direct costs are those
that are traceable to the creation of a product and
include costs for materials and labor whereas indirect
costs refer to those costs that cannot be traced to the
product such as overheads
2.2. Theoretical Review
Information Theory
Information theory or The Mathematical theory of
Communication, has two primary goals: The first is
the development of the fundamental theoretical limits
on the achievable performance when communicating
a given information source over a given
communications channel using coding schemes from
within a prescribed class. The second goal is the
development of coding schemes that provide
performance that is reasonably good in comparison
with the optimal performance given by the theory.
Companies may seek to communicate their
environmental performance to outside stakeholders,
but may not always find this easy to do since they
may lack full knowledge of the products, processes
and materials flowing through their supply
chains(Moore and Scheinkopf, 1998). Typically,
suppliers may hold more information about their
environmental performance and the performance
impact is to be experienced by the customers. This
situation is defined as information asymmetry. A
major advantage of greening supply chains is derived
from the capability to market and sell green products.
Such capability potentially develops new products
3. International Journal of Trend in Scientific Research and Development @ www.ijtsrd.com eISSN: 2456-6470
@ IJTSRD | Unique Paper ID – IJTSRD44965 | Volume – 5 | Issue – 5 | Jul-Aug 2021 Page 1065
and hence builds competitive advantages for
enterprises. Yet, companies may not be able to reap
this image benefit due to the information asymmetry
arising from consumers inabilityto discern how green
the products or materials from the supply chain are
(Flynn, 2011).
Similarly, continuous improvement fundamental
philosophy focuses on improving existing operations
within organizations allowing them to use resources
more efficiently and effectively (i.e. produce value),
and provides tailored solutions to solve specific
organizational problems (i.e. unique and imperfectly
imitable) (Melton, 2005). Sustaining competitive
advantage is specifically related to the human and
technical capabilities. Organizational capability in
terms of staff with existing continuous improvement
related experience and the ownership and exposure to
a variety of technical lean manufacturing practices
tools have a major impact on the final results of the
continues improvement project. This accumulated
experience has value, is hard to imitate, transfer or
substitute and can be exploitable by the organization
and thus creates ‘sustainable competitive advantage’
in accordance with RBV theory. Therefore,
information theory and its competitive advantage
sustainability are tightly related to lean manufacturing
practices (Paneru, 2011)
2.3. Empirical Review
Faisal (2017) conducted a study on the impact of
supply chain management practices on supply chain
performance in the Jordanian Industrial Sector. Also,
it aimed at assessing the level of awareness and
understanding of supply chain management concepts
and practices in the Jordanian context. Design/
methodology/ approach- The research methodology
involved the adoption of a survey as a research
strategy and quantitative approach, utilized a self-
administered questionnaire, to arrive at the major
findings of the study. The type of research is a single
cross-sectional design in which the collection of data
from the respondents was carried out only once. Data
were analyzed using the statistical package for social
sciences (SPSS). Finding- The paper revealed that
there is an impact of supply chain management
practices on supply chain performance in the
Jordanian Industrial Sector. It also revealed that there
is a high level of awareness among the respondent
about the supply chain management concept
Ayman, Bader and Noor (2012) carried out study on
the impact of supply chain management practices on
supply chain performance in terms of supply chain
efficiency and supply chain effectiveness.
Additionally, they investigated the moderating effect
of competitive intensity on the relationship between
supply chain management practices and supply chain
performance. Data for this research were collected
from 104 manufacturing companies in Jordan.
Hierarchical regressions were used to test the
hypothesized relationships. The results indicate that
three supply chain management practices, internal
integration, information sharing, and postponement,
but not supplier integration and customer integration,
significantly and positively affect supply chain
efficiency performance. Competitive intensity
moderates the relationship between each of internal
integration, supplier integration, and customer
integration, and supply chain efficiencyperformance.
The results also show that three supply chain
management practices, internal integration, customer
integration, and postponement, but not supplier
integration and information sharing, significantly and
positively affect supply chain effectiveness
performance. Competitive intensity moderates the
relationship between each of customer integration and
information sharing, and supply chain effectiveness
performance.
Veera, Abdul and Chandran (3009) did a study on
supply chain management practices in the electronics
industry in Malaysia Consequences for supply chain
performance Purpose– The purpose of this paper was
to explore the effects of different dimensions of
supply chain management practices (SCMP) on
supply chain performance (SCP) in the electronics
industry in Malaysia .Design/methodology/approach–
The study employed the quantitative method where
convenience sampling and self-administrated survey
questionnaires were sent to 125 electronics firms in
Malaysia. The research framework was tested using
variance-based structural equation model, the partial
least squares (PLS) method. Findings– The empirical
results of PLS indicate that six of the seven
dimensions of SCMP have a significant positive
effect on SCP. Furthermore, agreed vision and goals
shows a greater influence than other dimensions of
SCMP.
Suhong, Bhanu ,and Ragu-Nathan (2006) did a study
in China on the impact of supply chain management
practices on competitive advantage and
organizational performance. This research
conceptualized and developed five dimensions of
SCM practices (strategic supplier partnership,
customer relationship, level of information sharing,
quality of information sharing, and postponement)
and tested the relationships between SCM practices,
competitive advantage, and organizational
performance. Data for the study were collected from
196 organizations and the relationships proposed in
the framework were tested using structural equation

modeling. The results indicated that higher levels of
SCM practice can lead to enhanced competitive
advantage and improved organizational performance.
Also, competitive advantage can have a direct,
positive impact on organizational performance.
Baghe (2018) conducted a study on the effect of
supply chain capabilities on performance of food
companies in Ardabil as one of the metropolises of
Iran. The main objective of this research is to evaluate
the impact of supply chain capabilities on operational
and financial performance of food companies. The
study population consists of 76 companies operating
in the food industry in Ardabil as one of the
metropolises of Iran. Given the limited number of
population, no sampling method was used and all
companies went under scrutiny. A standard
questionnaire was used as the data collection tool
which was given to the managers of the companies. In
order to test research hypotheses, structural equation
modeling and PLS software were used. The results of
hypotheses testing suggested the significant positive
impact of supply chain capabilities on operational and
financial performance of food companies.
Additionally, the positive impact of operational
performance on financial performance of the
companies was confirmed. Finally, it was found that
operational performance has a mediating role in the
relationship between supply chain capabilities and
financial performance of the companies.
Jouno (2017) did a study on the impact of supply
chain agility on business performance in a high level
customization environment in Turkey. He examined
the effect of supply chain agility on customer service,
differentiation, and business performance. A survey
research methodology was employed using a sample
of 156 manufacturing firms that provide high levels
of customization. In particular, structural equation
modeling (SEM) was employed to evaluate the
proposed model. The results suggest that supply chain
agility influences customer service and differentiation
positively. However, it does not affect business
performance directly; instead, better business
performance can be achieved and mediated through
improved customer service and differentiation. In
particular, differentiation through customer service is
the most effective way to improve business
performance, and supply chain agility can help to
achieve high-level customer service. The paper
advised managers on details of how to fulfil their
business performance ambitions better through
suggested key agile supply chain management
activities.
Aswini (2019) conducted a study on the effect of
supply chain management practices on organizational
performance in Nigeria : An empirical approach, The
main purpose of this study is to determine the impact
of supply chain management practices (i.e., strategic
supplier partnership, customer relationship, level of
information sharing, quality of information sharing,
postponement, and risk and reward sharing on
organizational performance, that is, marketing
performance and financial performance). The
instrument was adopted, and it was administered to
115 target respondents from 6 organizations in
Chennai. A valid of 100 samples was taken for further
analysis, and multiple regression analysis were
employed to determine the purpose of the study. The
findings indicated that supply chain management
practices (i.e., strategic supplier partnership, customer
relationship, level of information sharing, quality of
information sharing, postponement, and risk and
reward sharing) have significant and positive impact
on organizational performance (i.e., marketing and
financial performance). The limitations, discussions,
implications, and further research were outlined and
delineated
3. Methodology
The study adopted research survey design. The
population of the study consists of senior
management and junior management staff of the
Brewing plants (1528).A Sample size was determined
using Cochran releasing a sample of 431. The
instrument was validated using face and content
validity by giving the tool to academicians to make
necessary corrections so that the device can measure
what it ought to measure. The tool used for test of
hypothesis was Product Moment Correlation
Coefficient. The reliability of the instrument was
obtained using Spearman Reliability and Validity of
Instrument. Ranking Order Correlation Co-Efficient
which amounted to a coefficient of 0.871 indicated a
High Internal Consistency of the Instrument.

The descriptive statistics of supply chain and product
cost, shown in Table 4.2a. The table shows a mean
response of 1.4464 and standard deviation of .68025
for supply chain and a mean response of 1.6334 and
standard deviation of .79233 for product cost and
number of respondents 401. A close examination of
the standard deviation values reveals a significant
difference in the scores of the two variables. This
implies that the variability of data points between the
dependent and independent variables is about the
same.
Table 4.2b displays the Pearson correlation
coefficient for supply chain and product cost. The
correlation coefficient shows a value of 0.856. This
value indicates that correlation is significant at 0.05
level (2tailed) and implies that there is a strong
positive relationship between supply chain and
product cost (r = .866). The computed correlation
coefficient is greater than the table value of r = 0.196
with 399 degrees of freedom (df. = n-2) at alpha level
for a two-tailed test (r = .856, p< .05). As a result,
since the computed r = .856, is greater than the table
value of 0.196. We reject the null hypothesis and

concluded that there was a significant positive
relationship between supply chain and production
cost of the Brewing plants in the south-east, Nigeria (r
=. 856, P<.05).
Discussion of Finding:
What is the nature of the relationship between
supply chain and production cost of the Brewing
plants in the South East, Nigeria.
The study also shows that there is a significant
positive relationship between supply chain and
production cost of the Brewing plants in the south-
east, Nigeria. This finding agrees with Faisal (2017)
that posits there is an impact of supply chain practices
on performance in the Jordan industrial sector. It is
also in tandem with Veera, Abdul and Chandran
(2009) study which revealed that six of the seven
dimension of supply chain practice have a significant
effect on performance. Suhong, Bhamu and
Ragu=Nathan (2006) indicated that higher levels of
supply chain practice can lead to enhanced
competitive advantage and improved organizational
performance. To buttress it further, Baghe (2018)
shows that there is a significant positive impact of
supply chain capabilities on operational and financial
performance of food companies.
5. Summary of Finding, Conclusion and
Recommendation
5.1. Summary of Finding
1. There was a significant positive relationship
between supply chain and production cost of the
Brewing plants in the South East, Nigeria. (r =
0.866).
5.2. Conclusion
The study concluded that Supply Chain practices is a
set of activities carried out in any organization to
promote effective management of its supply chains
and to improve production cost. From this we can see
that components of SC practices include supply and
material management issues, operations, information
technology and sharing (Information Communication
Technologies) and customer service which aid in cost
reduction.
5.3. Recommendation
Based on the outcome of this research, the researchers
recommend:
1. Brewing plants in South East Nigeria need to
ensure that their supply chain concentrates on the
most important member, the customer who should
be kept satisfied at all costs, thus helping to boost
customer services and also put in place a well-
managed supply chain that removes disruptions
and obstacles in their business activities.
