Diversity In Medicine
In recent years, there has been a predicted shortage of physicians in the United States of America by
2025, numbering between 46,000 and 90,000 physicians for a growing United States population 1.
However, the more pressing issue will be an even bigger shortage of minority physicians. Minorities
are underrepresented in medical facilities as students and faculty. However, one minority especially
has been on the decline since 1978. African American males in the medical field have been on a steady
downward trend. In 1978, 1,410 African American males applied to medical school, compared to
2014, when 1,337 African American males applied to medical school 2. This downward trend is
concerning to many persons both inside and out of the medical field. A recent article published by the

inability to find, engage, and develop candidates for careers in medicine from all our members of
society limits our ability to improve healthcare for all 3. Diversity in medicine will benefit people in
all races, genders, and ethnicities, and will provide an increase in the quality of healthcare for the
United States population. A new generation of minority physicians is a step towards eliminating health
inequalities for the rapidly changing United States population 4. Consequently, more minority
physicians will lead to an increase in racial minority participation in clinical research. According to
the National Cancer Institute, more white people participate in their studies, despite the higher
mortality rate of African Americans due to cancer 5. By solving the issue of diversity in medicine,
especially the issue with the decline of African American males, the medical community can make
huge advances in the ability to provide high quality healthcare for

The Disaster Of The Chernobyl Disaster
On the day of April 26, 1986, an event that had affected many people took place, The Chernobyl
Disaster. The radiation cloud had spread over 27 countries. 28 people died within a few weeks as a
result of acute radiation poisoning. The steam explosion and fires had released 5% of the radioactive
reactor core into the atmosphere. 1,100 square miles around the reactor still remain uninhabitable to
this day.
Recently documented, it has been said that over 500,000 people have died from radiation exposure
over the past two decades. 5 8 million people continue to live in the contamination zone causing a
surge in infant mortality and children born with deformities. While we can force oil companies to

Depleted uranium will remain toxic for an estimated 4.5 million years. After decades of scientific
research at locations like Yucca Mountain in Nevada, no one has figured out how and where to store

admitted that he has no firm plans for the radioactive wastes created by the proposed new reactors, or
by the 104 currently licensed.
And according to CBS News, waste is currently leaking from a quarter of US nuclear power sites. In
the last three years alone, cancer causing tritium was found in the water and soil around nuclear sites

The Insanity Of Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe, was especially antisocial, and some would say insane. His insanity was solely
prompted by events in his life. On December 8, 1811, both of Poe s parents died from the dreadful
disease, tuberculosis. Poe s foster mother, with whom he was close with, dies in Richmond on
February 28, 1829 from a long sickness. Upon the date Aug 1, 1831, Poes older brother Henry dies of
either tuberculosis or cholera at the age of 27. Poe s wife Virginia died of tuberculosis on Jan 30, 1847
(Poe Museum). Poe has been so despondent while the illness consumed the final months of Virginia s
life that friends thought he was going insane. The loss of his wife extended Poes dependency on
alcohol. Some of Poe s beliefs were viewed as ludicrous, but truly were coherent. Poe expresses these
beliefs throughout his stories. These beliefs include, alcohol can end and destroy one s life, there s
nothing to stop death, and that true happiness is not possible as long as moral evil lurks within the
darkness.
Edgar Allan Poe believed that alcohol could end and destroy one s life. He conveyed this belief
throughout Hop Frog, and Cask of Amontillado. In Poe s story Hop Frog, a self righteous king coerced
a jester to drink knowing he was especially not fond of alcohol. The king himself was intoxicated, and
had performed his actions solely for his amusement and attention from his consol of ministers. Hop
Frog became tremendously irritated. His irritation had brought great iniquitous actions,

Summary Of The Night Odyssey
Lost It was the summer of 1998; I was pregnant with my second child, when my two year old son, my
husband, my brother Vladimir, his girlfriend Nicole, two other couples and I went on vacation to
Brittany, France. Usually, I spent the summer in Serbia with my two grandmas and the rest of the
family. But this year, we decided to go another time to visit them. I never thought this would be one of
my most regretted decisions I have ever made. I cannot remember the name of the place where we
stayed for two weeks. The only thing I do remember is our night odyssey in Paris, how we weren t
able to find the way out through the maze tunnels to the highway which was supposed to lead us to the
no name village in Brittany. Eventually, around midday, we arrived at our house. As we were the only
ones with a child, the rest of the group treated my son like an alien whose task was to turn the nightly
rest upside down, so the banned us to the only bedroom in the first floor. In hindsight, it was the best
room of the whole house, due to the heat which emanated at night heavily from the attic rooms and
made breathing difficult. The area was beautiful, green hills everywhere; the few houses looked like
they were put into the lush meadows by a creative behemoth. Although you could not see the ocean,
the constant blowing wind carried the salty, fishy smell to your house. The fleecy clouds alternated
with the sunshine I a two day cycle. So we went sightseeing on the cloudy days, on the other, to

Sophocles vs Euripides Essay
Sophocles vs Euripides Sophocles and Euripides versions of Electra carry, among many similarities, a
central theme of revenge. The characters, Electra and Orestes, must reunite to avenge their father s
murder. Misfortunately, in both versions the just solution leads the siblings to destroying their own
mother. Both versions of Electra can be compared to Aeschylus Libation Bearers. However, they are
both more dramatic, and more similar to each other than if each Electra was individually compared to
the play by Aeschylus. The biggest differences between the two versions of Electra, are found within
the characters and their development. I also believe that, the differences we see in these characters
personalities between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example is that Electra is told that Orestes is dead. One may wonder why Electra has to
experience more grief as opposed to, for example, immediately knowing Orestes was near her and
joining forces to get revenge. To my surprise, when Electra learned that Orestes was alive and close
by, she did not question him about why he lied even to her. Instead, she was filled with joy. I believe
Sophocles uses the supposed death of Orestes to cause a reaction in Electra, in turn enhancing
character development. Euripides gives Electra s character power by making her more decisive. He
does not rely on the other characters as much to cause Electra s reactions. Electra has more internal
initiative. She pushed for Orestes to kill Clytamnestra, even when Orestes was having second doubts, I
myself will arrange my mother s death (Euripides, 45). Both Sophocles and Euripides give a sense of
more free will to the characters by reducing divine interventions. In both versions Orestes has come
from an oracle, and was told he should supply justice to his father s murderers. This is different from
the Libation Bearers. In The Libation Bearers, Orestes not only comes with advice from the oracle, but
with an ultimatum. Apollo told him to avenge his father or live a life of torment and a shameful death.
This makes the gruesome murder and revenge seem like he

Pros And Cons Of National Service
NS is an acronym that stands for National Service and it is defined as The system in some countries in
which young people have to do military training for a period of time. [remember do citation. Taken
from oxford dictionary online]. National Service in Singapore is compulsory for all able bodied male
citizens and permanent residents who have reached the age of 18 years. They are required to serve in
the army for a period of two years. However, a majority of the male citizens or permanent residents
are allowed to defer their National Service till they have completed their tertiary education e.g. Junior
College, Polytechnics, and Institute of Technical Education (ITE). All Singaporean male citizens or
permanent residents will enter National Service at the ages of 18 to 21 years. Over the span of the two
years in the army, all males will undergo rigorous training so as to be physically fit, and combat ready
at all times. (iprepNS) Prior to National Service, there are multiple activities, preparations, and

Health Issues Of Health Of Women And Infants Essay
When a child is born the mother is also born again, as rightfully quoted by Gilbert Parker. Childbirth
is one of the greatest privileges on the earth anyone could have and we, as women, should feel proud
to be major contributors for it. A mother plays a key role in aiding healthcare workers to mitigate the
health crisis associated with childbirth by performing her duties faithfully. One such associated health
crisis is Premature (preterm) birth which occurs when the baby is born too early, before 37 weeks of
gestational period(CDC,2015). It is an important public health priority in terms of health of women
and infants.
Extent of this public health problem: Every year an estimated 15 million pretaerm babies are born and
this number is still rising.(WHO,2015).In 2014, 1 of every 10 babies born in United States were
premature and black infants were 50% more likely to be born premature than white, Hispanic and
Asian/Pacific islander infants(CDC,2015). Almost 1 million children die each year due to
complications of premature birth(WHO,2015). A major challenge in decreasing the rate of preterm
birth is lack of knowledge about the etiologies and effective strategies for prevention. In order to
create awareness and mollify premature birth, a community based outreach program based on
Transtheoretical Model is proposed to strategically prevent premature birth among high risk
population of African American women.
Priority population:
Premature birth is a major

The second reason for supporting truckload delivery is the value density. It can be calculated as
follows
Value density (woofers) = $740/48bs = $15.42 Airfreight (T2)
Airfreight can also be recommended but the total cost per month will be higher than that of the
truckload. Whereas the deliveries are more frequent as well as the shorter transit time will make it a
better option.
Value density of the Airfreight can be calculated as follows
Value density (Tweeter) = $1190/6 lbs = $198.33
4) What responsibilities will SSE have under your recommendations in question 3?
SSE should always keep in mind the terms and conditions when sourcing their supplies for woofers
and tweeters. FOB terms figure out where the purchaser s obligations start and where the dealer s
obligations end. In the event that the terms originate from FOB, title (possession) to the products
changes hands at the starting point and not at the transportation point or dealer s distribution center
loading dock. After that, the products have a place with the purchaser, and any misfortune or harm is
the obligation of the purchaser. In the event that the terms are FOB destination, the title exchanges at
the destination ordinarily the purchaser s unloading

Circle of Gold Essay
Earthly things can be very expensive, but love from a family is priceless, it is expressed in the
following passage. By the end of the last hundred pages I ve read (103 201) in Candy Dawson Boyd s
Circle of Gold, Mattie finally realizes this, as does the readers. Mattie gives her mom a golden pin for
mother s day, which she goes by any means to get, just to bring her family back together.
Mattie was a smart A student from Brooklyn, New York. Her only brother and twin brother Matthew is
an artist that likes to draw and paint. She lives with her mom and brother, she used to live with her dad
but he is deceased. One day, on his way from work some drunk drives hit his car and killed him. That

girl with a hard life must step it up to keep her family together, by any means necessary. On it we see
at certain points young Mattie experiencing difficult times, both personal and financial. Under these
pressures, she gives into her darker side and allows and is even pushed to steal. Mattie knows that
mother s day is coming up, and for mother s day she wants to get her mom something really nice. So
one day her and Toni go to the mall, then they walk into this jewelry store and there it was, so
precious, a golden pin with a single moon pearl in the middle of it. She concluded that it would the
perfect Mother s Day gift, but only it she could afford it she didn t have a dime. Later that night in her
bed she thought to herself, I need to get that pin, but how will I get it? Then she figured that she would
just have to take it. The next day before school she told Toni that today after school she was going to
go to the mall and take the pin. Toni tried to talk her out of it but her mind was already set, she was
going to take the pin. So that day after school Mattie went to the mall and she went into the jewelry
store to where the pin was being kept. There was one thing she didn t know, and that was that her

Problem Of Cyberbullying In The United States
Cyberbullying has become a prevalent problem over the past decade in the United States. This is due
to the radical updates in technology and the easy access that teens have to these electronic resources.
Whether at school, a local coffee shop, or in their own home, teens can gain access to computers, and
are able to use them for cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place online or through
any electronic device such as a computer or cellphone. There are many different ways to bully

A Comparison Of Lust And Love In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
In both Wife of Bath s Tale written by Chaucer and Marie de France s lay Lanval are about men that
are driven by lust and love. In Chaucer s Wife of Bath s Tale he speaks of a young knight that is
motivated by lust. As the knight saw a maiden walking by he decides to rape her although she tries to
resist his force. However in Marie de France s lay Lanval , she talks about a knight that possessed
great qualities such as beauty and courage, this caused him to be envied by many. If it had not been for
his misfortune he would not live a sad and lonely life. No one offered to assist this worthy knight
because he was born far away and spent all of his inheritance.
The similarities that connects these works in both Lanval and Wife of Bath s Tale are that both men
are knights to King Arthur. In Lanval the noble knight decides to falls for a fairly beautiful ... Show

In Lanval although he has no fortune he finds love with a fairy and chooses to be with her rather than
the other ladies in his strange land. During his tale he is put on trial for being faithful to his lover and
denying the queens lustfulness. And in the Wife of Bathe Tale the knight rapes a maiden and sent on
quest to find out what woman want, after discovering his answer from an old hag he is set free of his
charges. He then has to marry the hag because he is set free and at the end she turns into a beautiful
young lady. This is ironic because of the crime he commits the tale ends with him having a happy ever
after. This is a major deference seen in the consequences given to both men for their crimes
committed. In a real life scenario the knight consequences should have been harsher instead he is
rewarded with a beautiful young lady. If the hag had remained old and ugly that would be fair
punishment. As for Lanval he was falsely accused for denying his queen, but at the end he was freed
and went off with his fair lady into a possible happy

Is College Really Free Essay
Is anything in life really free? If college is free, what is the point of trying to work hard and to try to
go above beyond? Free tuition colleges could make college seem less important (Lobosco). It would
make it seem less important because if a student fail one year the student will not have to pay for the
next year or the year after that. The students could just keep failing. The reasons behind why college
tuition should not be free is because of how taxes would be raised, how it would still not be
completely free, and how scholarships can help make it free. First of all, it is not actually free
someone has to pay for it. If there were did have free tuition colleges, the state and federal government
would have to make a few changes. The changes could include raising taxes, decreasing military
budget, closing tax loopholes, increasing taxes more for the wealthy, new taxes on speculative Wall
Street transactions, and diverting student financial aid to tuition free colleges (Should College Be

Why Is Employee Training A Waste Of Time
The article, Why Your Employee Training Is A Waste Of Time And Money And What To Do About It ,
by Christo Popov seeks to address how training of employees is expensive and worthless to the
company and how it does not increase performance. The research problem being addressed is whether
employee training is a waste of time and money and if the company is selecting the right personnel in
the critical skills for the business`s stage of development and what are the shortfalls of the program.
It is clear from the title of the article that this is no simple issue. In fact, the article`s can be misleading
at a glance. The author starts by saying that companies that are up to present codes of practice will
beat their competition in the present day, however in order to do this the company has to learn quickly
and it cost the company more in 2014 to financially to do this.
SUMMARY ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author speaks from personal training and development experience and lists the following as
common problems: no strategic focus to training, not being useful and interesting, and training in long
marathon sessions rather than short bites. In addition, fixes to these common problems are discussed.
First, organizations should plan first and train later. Creating a strategy and execution plan will ensure
core skills and competencies will be addressed. Next, organizations may consider finding trainers that
have actually worked in the field they are training for. Other fixes discussed include: plan for sprints,
not a marathon, road test the training, and spend less, not more. These suggestions can help companies

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Parrquet Floor
Pros and Cons of Parquet Floors
Advantages of Parquet Floors
Parquet floors are one of different styles available for designing wooden floors. Parquetry flooring can
be considered to be a more specific type of mosaic flooring. In parquetry geometric wooden shapes
are used to create patterns on the floor. Hardwood is the category of wood employed for parquetry.
Parquet floors are made up of any kind of wood whether it is oak, cherry, walnut, pine etc. The various
wooden pieces are often created using different types of woods and different kinds of wood grains.
The pattern created in a parquet floor can be a large one. In many cases, the pattern encompasses the
entire floor area of a room. Sometimes, smaller designs and patterns are created in the form of a tile.
These identical tiles are then used all over the room to create a flooring pattern. Therefore, no two
floor look similar when it comes to parquet flooring.
 Advantages of parquet flooring:
The popularity of parquetry flooring is due to many factors. It is the most popular kind of hard wood
flooring.

The Concept Of Sustainable Development
The concept of sustainable development has been at the centre of many big debates of late including
world conferences on development and developmental planners. It is gaining impetus as people get
more informed on the current effects of climate change and the looming devastating effects of the
same on future generations increasing the unpredictability of the future. At the core of sustainable
development is the fragile condition of balancing between protection as well as maintenance of the
productivity of the environment and the quest for economic growth. This is a fundamental function of
environmental politics. The concept of sustainable development makes us believe that it is possible to
realize economic prosperity and protect the environment at the same time (Carter, 2007).
Although tradeoff may be made between ecological sustainability and fulfilment of basic human needs
(Lélé, 1991), this should not be an encouraged practice because human beings will always give
preference to their needs over environmental protection no matter how trivial they may be. The
ultimate remedy for sustainable development therefore lies with practical good governance and
political will locally, nationally and globally.
The origin and prominence of the concept sustainable development can be traced back to the 1980
IUCN s World Conservation Strategy(WCS) which aimed at achieving sustainable development
through conservation of living resources (Lélé, 1991). In his criticism of the world

Corporal Punishment Analysis
The main point of this study was to examine the association between the use of corporal punishment
against 3 year old children and subsequent aggressive behavior among the kids. The main question for
the study is How is a mother s use of corporal punishment on a 3 year old child linked to the risk for
the child being more aggressive at 5 years of age, even after controlling for the child s initial level of
aggression at age 3? The hypothesis in this case would be if a mother spanked their child due to
misbehaving then the levels of aggression would increase.

All of the examined risk factors and demographic features, except parental relationship status and
income, were significantly associated with CP. Respondents who had a male index child, a high school
education, who were younger, black or Christian were at higher than average risks for using CP, where
as those who were Hispanic, foreign born or Catholic were at lower than average risk. According to
Table 2 in the article, as with CP, higher levels of each of the assessed maternal parenting risks were
associated with risks for higher levels of child aggression. These findings confirmed that these
parenting risk factors might indeed confound the link between CP and child aggression. In addition,
children who were male or whose mothers were younger, had lower education levels and household s
incomes, had no religious preference, or had a just visiting relationship the father were at risks for
higher levels of aggression. According to this article, I learned that even when all of those maternal
parenting risks were controlled for, mothers more frequent use CP with their 3 year old children
increased the odds of those children being more aggressive at age 5. The finding is consistent with
dozens of other studies that showed a significant statistical link between the use of CP and child
aggression. Based on what I read, I definitely know that CP is not a necessary form of child discipline
and these are different, but effective forms of discipline that exists, so this study is definitely not

Age Of Reform Dbq
The Age of Reform started in 1820 and ended in 1860. The reform was to try to get rid discrimination
against many things or to improve conditions of life. People wanted life to become more fair and
everyone to be equal. In the Age of Jackson democracy became more popular, democracy is what
influenced the reform. Without these movements the US would not be the same today. One of the
many movements in the reform is the women s rights movement. Women could not vote, attend
schools, or have certain jobs. They were expected to take care of the house, cook, and clean. Two
women named Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Stanton impacted this movement in many ways. They had
the idea to create a convention after they were told women could not take part in the proceedings .
Their convention discussed many things such as, social, civil, and religious rights of women. This was
the first gathering aimed toward women. Later Stanton wrote The Declaration of Sentiments. The
Declaration of Sentiments talked about full equality for women. This document changed society and
women were now allowed to do things they were not allowed to do before. ... Show more content on

Television And Young Women s Western Society
Television and Young Women in Western Society Reality television is considered to be essentially
unscripted and unfiltered television programs where people showcase themselves depicting their real
lives, the good, the bad and the ugly. Reality TV shows like The Real Housewives or The Kardashians
exploit the lives of wealthy high class people who portray drama, fortune and materialistic things.
Since the beginning of the reality show phenomenon critics have been debating that reality television
is nothing more than highly scripted flavored up television that attracts viewers with the allure of
dramatic flare and sex appeal. Is reality television negatively effecting the perception of self and
gender roles in young women who are viewing it? According to research done at the University of
Michigan, 71% of 8 18 year olds have a TV in their bedroom and in 53% of those households there is
no restriction on TV viewing (Boyse). With the female population under 18 years of age soaring at
74,181,467 (US Census), it is obvious that a large portion of young females are viewing these reality
television programs. According to another study done at Oregon State University, reality TV statistics

The Higher Price of Higher Education
The High Price of Higher Education In America s society today, students are expected to follow the
path of day care, grade school, middle school, high school and hopefully college. Growing up in
America today, the importance of education is stressed starting at the earliest stages of development.
In a world with a competitive job market and with citizens who want to make the most money that
they can, a college education is key in success. For some students, financing college is not a problem.
Money should not be a factor in the student s decision making process when choosing what school to
attend, but unfortunately many people are unable to attend the university of their choice due to the
high costs. Working through college is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this is the case then there should be documentation of these increases but, academic institutions
have made little effort either on or off campus to make themselves transparent to explain their
finances, (Tuition Rising). There is no documentation that describes what every penny of tuition pays
for. It is only stated that it goes toward administrative costs, faculty salaries, technology, Federal
regulation, endowment, State appropriations, (Tuition Rising). But why are the costs rising? Patrick
M. Callan, president of the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education, states that there s
not much going on in either private or public higher education that is very serious about cost control,
(Tuition Rising). He believes that Underlying all this is that more kids are graduating from high school
every year, most of them want to go to college, and so it s a seller s market. Universities raise tuition
because they can, (Tuition Rising). This makes us wonder if universities are tricking us of our money
since they have not documented where tuition is going. In order to avoid confusion from students and
parents who want answers, the government should require institutions to have documentation of what
tuition is funding.
Financial aid is a popular choice for students to fund their college education, which presently costs an
average of $15,566 for an undergraduate student

Franklin Harrod Case Study
According to the information gather by law enforcement, one morning as Kelly was getting her and

she was ordered to get a gun from a trunk by Jerry Trussell. On Jerry que, Tamara shot Franklin
Harrod. The next day the Trussell took Franklins body and wrapped it in roofing tarp, and buried in a

her husband s vehicle and other belonging. A month following the disappearance of Franklin Harrod,
Jerry Wilson made an anonymous report to police about the Trussell s asking him for a gun. Another
person told law enforcement that Jerry Trussell, asked her ex husband for help disposing the body of
Franklin Harrod. However, investigator did not have enough evidence to charge anyone. Also Kelly,
and Trussell kept insisting that Franklin simply left.

Papa Joffre Character Analysis
Papa Joffre, a name that connotes a rather lighter tone, and conveys a sense of compassion and
sympathy in one s conduct: qualities that sharply contrast the unpleasantries of war. His title is a
façade that overlooks his true achievements as French commander in chief during the first world war.
Joseph Joffre changed the outcome of the conflict due to his execution of the war plan, leadership in
the Battle of the Marne, and leadership in other offensives. He was a force to be reckoned with, a man
who dominated the field, and a man who drastically impacted the war. Joseph Joffre consistently

His predisposition to heavy offensives also contributed to his downfall, because they were

fortress of Verdun which led to a disaster at the battle of Verdun (Rickard). His resolve and resilience,
had in exchange been replaced with stubbornness, in his pursuit of his offenses. It demonstrated that
he had disregard for men, heartless, and sometimes even clueless which would lead one to speculate
how one was competent to lead. This style of leading led to bundles of dead man and overcrowded
hospitals (Stokesbury 59). It was callous, and heartless. In spite of his actions, the little guys took the
fall, and lost their posts . But, it was only a matter of time before it ate away at Joffre s fame.
Eventually, his unscrupulous actions led to his resignation as commander in chief, but he was
promoted away from the front line, created a Marshal of France . Despite the prestigious title, his final
years were performing symbolic duties and nothing in particular of substance. In the end, he is a figure
who is still the subject of much controversy to this day (Rickard).
He was not without flaws. He overstepped his boundaries, and as a result, his pitfall. Joseph Joffre was
a flawed man, but that does not overshadow his overall legacy: Halting the Germans at the Battle of

The Political Relationship Of The United States And South...
The Vietnam conflict was a ruthless and long war that had serious consequences for everyone
involved and would prove to be a shameful and infamous snapshot of American foreign policy at
work. This paper will highlight the geo political relationship of the United States and South Vietnam,
focusing on events taking place after the Geneva accords of 1954, in the attempts to insure a non
communist Vietnam.
The United States refused to sign the Geneva accords (because the U.S. refused any possibility of
communist control over Vietnam), but elections were to be held in 1956 to decide the ruling
government by popular vote. The U.S. government created SEATO (Southeast Asia Treaty
Organization), a regional alliance that swore to protect South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos in the
event of Communist rule. SEATO quickly came into full force and became the exact mechanism
Washington used to justify its support of South Vietnam. This support of course even became the
direct involvement of U.S. troops in Vietnam. In 1955, the U.S. picked Ngo Dinh Diem to replace Bao
Dai as the head of the regime in South Vietnam. In a move to consolidate the power, Prime Minister
Diem called for a referendum between Emperor Bao Dai and himself. In a very banana republic esque
way, Diem won that referendum by over 98% of the vote (although a questionable legitimacy to say
the least). With help, guidance and U.S. encouragement, Diem refused participation in the Geneva
planned elections that Ho Chi Minh

Global Climatic Changes
Introduction
Global climatic change can be defined as a long term shift in the overall and average climatic
conditions. It is quite evident from various statistics that there has been a significant change in the
global climate. The end of the 20th and the 21st century have witnessed some of the warmest periods
of the globe. The temperature recorded during this period was reported to be highest when compared
with the instrumental temperature records. The evident shifts in the Global climate started in the mid
of the 19th century and after that the global climate kept on getting worse with the passage of time.
(Unknown, 2007)
Human behavior and activities trigger climatic changes in a significant manner. These activities cause
the climate of the globe to change by altering the energy balance of the earth. The major threat to the
global climate is the burning of fossil fuels. These fuels, when burnt, produce Carbon dioxide and
other green house gases and aerosols which are great threats to the atmosphere. These gases alter the
solar radiations,

To believe or not to believe that is the question. Robertson Davies depicts a novel in which two
opposing characters strive for self completion. The journey of completing one s self is one of Jung s
archetypes. According to Jung, completing both the body and soul lies within the characteristics of the
psyche. The psyche is composed of three parts: the collective unconscious, ego and the personal
unconscious. The collective unconscious is what people come into this world knowing, how children
are shaped as adults through their childhood experiences and parental influences. The ego is the image
people believe they are. It is this image which people pursue through the rest of their lives until they

he decides to leave his father. He was going to be a very rich man richer than his father by far and he

The Chemical Evolution Of Prebiotic And Biotic Materials
The work presented here attacks the issue of understanding the chemical evolution of prebiotic and
biotic materials, such as amino acids, from multiple fronts. From an observational standpoint, the
identification of carbodiimide in the ISM for the first time has added a new molecule to the known
molecular inventory. Beyond this result, and perhaps more importantly, it has hopefully opened others
up to the possibility that searches for molecules that should be undetectable under LTE conditions may
yet be fruitful. With the thoughtful exploitation of phenomena such as masing, important transient or
intermediate species, which have a non negligible effect on the overall chemical and physical
evolution of a system, may yet be detected.
Through the studies of chp presented here, it has been shown that careful examination of the chemistry
and chemical environments probed by the observations can provide a robust and deep insight into the
mechanisms at work and the species present. Without any laboratory work having been conducted,
and examining only archival observational data, chm was dismissed as the carrier of B11244 based on
an analysis of the emph{chemistry} at work in the environments where it had been detected. This
work now expands, seeking to explore how chp can probe the environments, and the thus far rare
conditions in which it is present in detectable abundance.
Again, using only archival observational data, a serious gap in the completeness of state of the art

United States Political Thought As A Democracy
United States political thought today as of today is considered a democracy. A democracy is where the
citizens of the United States are eligible to vote for the leaders that represent the country. Without the
drafting of the British documents, such as The Magna Carta and the Petition of Rights along with the
political upheaval of the Glorious Revolution and Enlightenment, America today would be following
the traditional acts of arbitrary monarchical rule. All of these specific times in history were outcomes
of people seeing that absolute monarchies were trouble for the fundamental rights of the people. Being
under an absolute monarchy is similar to being under a dictatorship which leaves no say in the hand of
the people.
The Magna Carta, also known as The Great Charter, was the first step into people receiving the rights
that they deserved. The King of England, King John was forced by his barons to sign the charter to
establish that the monarch was no longer absolute and that the people were guaranteed a trial by jury
and due process of law. King John is considered to be one of the worst kings in history. He was not in
favor of the people, he was in favor of himself. He was such a greedy King who would penalize any
baron who went against his wishes.
In 1206, King John lost some land that he was insistent on getting back. Normandy, Anjou, Maine and
parts of Poitou were no longer under his control. The way he went about it was to harshly raise the
taxes. If the people

What Is Piaget Theory Of Cognitive Development
Cognitive development Piaget theory of cognitive development. According to Piaget, there are four
stages in children and that are completed in a set order in all children. The second stage in children is
the Preoperational stage. The ages of Preoperational Stage in young children is three to six years.
Preoperational children can think in symbols and learn to interact with their environment .During this
stage, the development of language occurs. Children learn to interact with their environment through
the use of words and images. Piaget states that symbolic thought as characteristic of preoperational
thought. In symbolic thought, an object or word can stand for something else, including something out
of sigh or imagined (Berger, 10th edition pg.no. 278). Piaget states four limits that for preoperational
children to think logically, they are centration, Focus on appearance, static reasoning, and
irreversibility. He highlighted a set of experiments called conservation in which preoperational stage
children disregards logic. Conservation means the notion that the amount of a substance remains the
same even when its appearance changes (Berger, 10th edition,pg.no.279).According to Piaget, the
reason young children fails to understand conservation is they focus (center) on what they see
(appearance), noticing only the immediate (static) condition. It does not occur to them that they could
reverse the process and recreate the level of a moment earlier (irreversibility) (Berger,

stress is a consequence of the environment in which dancers practice ballet everyday, which is a world
of no pain, no gain that is characterized by perfectionism and competition (Yatabe et al. 2). In this
case, pain and stress can be further ignored and create a negative impact on dancers due to
perfectionism if instructors do not cut down with their excessive trainings. Ballet dancers who demand

currently 21,000 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in the United States. In different
levels of the government, there are thousands of different agencies that are responsible for specific
tasks. Due to a high amount of different law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Research Paper On Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela: Man with a Motivation A man of true influence was born on July 18, 1918 in
Mvezo, South Africa and was born into the royal Mandela name. His father was the sub chief to the
king of the Thembu, and the influential man s name was Nelson Mandela, which would be a name that
would resonate throughout the world. Life for Mandela was hard at times, but through the difficulties
came a striving motivation to make his life and the lives of others better. Due to Nelson Mandela s
imprisonments, politics, and apartheid involvement, a strong motivation and lasting legacy of leading
by example was brought forth. For twenty seven years, prison was home for Nelson Mandela. After
the white supremacist party won South Africa s election in 1948, a constitution was formed that was
known to be racist towards black. That brought uprising which Mandela was a part of, since he was a
black male with limited rights. Through early protesting, Mandela made sure his voice was heard, and
it was heard so much that the law officials started to inhibit his ... Show more content on

Perry later on, in the same article, would write, . . . Mandela was arrested once again and put on trial
for inciting labor unrest and leaving South Africa without permission. (3) However, the original five
year sentence was increased to life in prison, which would not last since after twenty seven years he
was released. On that release day, headlines were made and Mandela gave a heartfelt speech.
According Mandela s speech titled Nelson Mandela Speech Upon Release, he stated, On this day of
my release, I extend my sincere and warmest gratitude to the millions of my compatriots and those in
every corner of the globe who have campaigned tirelessly for my release. (1) With Mandela free, he
would eventually go back to work for involving himself and others in ways to make apartheid

American Born Chinese Identity
All sentient beings have an acquired cultural identity and an innate racial identity; in the state of being
the other in a society that oppresses minorities, one can have a feeling of being displaced and alone,
discouraged and even ashamed. American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang depicts a dissatisfied
American born Chinese tween who tries to grapple with living in a community that is largely not of
his ethnicity. It s easy to become anything you wish . . . so long as you re willing to forfeit your soul,
(Yang 29) says a wise Chinese herbalist s wife at her store calculating bills on an abacus to Jin Wang,
the unknowingly curious American boy who sits with his mother and his toy Transformer. The graphic
novel depicts the tween s clash of emotions and how he wrestles with accepting his Chinese identity,

Some Americans perpetuate derogatory remarks against Asians in general by even grouping Eastern
countries together and simply say, Oh, Chinese and Japanese are the same thing. No more of this! As
human beings, we should have the responsibility to be kind to one another Yang positively reflects just
that concept with placing a set of truly round characters in the story who evoke emotion. That is
needed. As the three excellent and well written sub stories within the novel come to a close, a
simplistic idea sprouts from Yang s writing and can be seen as this: be proud of who you are. Of
course, this may seem to be an easy and basic solution to Jin s issue at hand, but the idea of
individualism and being proud of one s own sense of self could be an issue concerning with the
concept of intersectionality. In Yang s tale, Jin must not only be proud of his Chinese ethnicity, but his
American identity

Essay on A Closer Look at the Vietnam War
The Vietnam War The Vietnam war was a very hard and emotional time for many people. From the
vietnamese to the u.s., the vietnam war was a tradgedy. People said that the vietnam war had been the
longest lasting battle that took place in the cold war. The whole thing started because the vietnamese
wasnted to have their independence. They no longer wanted to be under the control of france. France
did not want to give up the land that they had ruled for years. France was getting supplies and goods
from vietnam so they didnt want to give it up so they fought for it. Ho Chi Minh was vietnams
president as you can say he was in control of north vietnam. He wanted vietnam to be a communist
country much like the soviet union. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Countries such as the soviet union , the U.S. , China , Vietnam and the French all met in Geneva to
negotiate. They wanted a peace agreement which later turned into dividing up vietnam into two
regions that would split the north and south between a boundary called the DMZ line. Then at that
time the north and south was divided between the line. The line was called the Demilitarized Zone
where the vietnamese were given total control of all territory of the north and everything to the south
was controlled by the country of vietnam and france. (Don Lawson the united stantes in the vietnam. ,
p. 16) . When the DMZ line went in full , the north vietnamese went through the south , which created
a food shortage throughout south vietnam. The U.S. supported them and gave them aid for food. Ho
Chi Minh and Diem agreement came to a reunification election that would basically depend on
vietnam being a communist country or not. In the mean time, the U.S. wanted Diem to take the land
that the wealthy land owners had and give it to the peasants for farm land so he had their full support.
Gary B. Nash said Diem didn t want anything that would weaken the ruling class (Nash, p. 770).
Eisenhower knew that if the elections went on , Ho Chi Minh would win and vietnam would become a
communist country. He convinced Diem to cancel the reunification election. with the U.S. support ,
He cancelled the elections which led to

Why Do Two Parties Dominate American Politics
Topic: Explain why two parties dominate the history of American politics
Political Parties in the United States are mostly dominated by a two party system. However, the
United States Constitution has always been silent on the issue of political parties; at the time it was
signed in 1787, there were no parties in the nation. At that time, no nation in the world had voter based
political parties. The need to win popular support in a republic became popular to the American
people. This led to the invention of voter based political parties in the 1790s (1). Americans were
especially innovative in devising new campaign techniques that linked public opinion with public
policy through the party they supported.
The modern two party system consists of the Democratic Party and the Republican. Over the years,
there have been several third ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the development of these two major parties, it awards seats in Congress and the presidency, by
the votes of the people. These votes are not popular votes. These votes are determined by the Electoral
College. Candidates running for Congress need only to get a plurality of the vote to be elected. In
short, the presidential candidate needs to win the individual state s electoral votes. Here s how the
Electoral College works. Each state is assigned a number of electoral votes, based on the size of its
population. The 538 electoral votes are chosen by the political parties in each state. A candidate needs
270 electoral votes to become President. If no candidate gets a majority of electoral votes, members of
the House of Representatives choose the President. In 48 states, the winner of the popular vote (the
votes cast by citizens) gets all of the state s electoral votes. The way in which presidents are elected
are state by state, as long as they win a plurality of the vote in that state

Narrative Speech About Bullying
Miss. Webb, I ve been talking a lot with Brayden here lately about these accidents he has been having
at school. I know at home when his attention is focused on something he likes watching or likes doing
he will sometimes have accidents. I felt like it was because he didn t want to miss out on whatever was
going on at that moment and was ignoring his body. I ve had many talks with him about making sure
he always stops and goes when he needs to go! That whatever he is doing at that time will still be
there when he gets back. We did have this issue before he started school, but he had showed a lot of
improvement before school had started and we followed through with letting him start. He really
wanted to go to school and we explained that in order to come to school everyone had to follow the
same rules and that they also had to be able to use the bathroom and not accident on themselves. I
even made sure he knew he could take a bathroom break anytime he needed to. I wanted to make sure
he understood what I was saying and so I would have talks with him a little everyday before school
had started. I talked to him about the stuff he would be doing in school, all the fun stuff he would be
learning, and everything that was expected of everyone who went to school. We got to the point where
he was only having a accident here and there and by the time school started he was doing great!

On December 8, 1811, both of Poe s parents died from the dreadful disease, tuberculosis. Poe s foster mother, with whom he was close with, dies in Richmond on February 28, 1829 from a long sickness. Upon the date Aug 1, 1831, Poes older brother Henry dies of either tuberculosis or cholera at the age of 27. Poe s wife Virginia died of tuberculosis on Jan 30, 1847 (Poe Museum). Poe has been so despondent while the illness consumed the final months of Virginia s life that friends thought he was going insane. The loss of his wife extended Poes dependency on alcohol. Some of Poe s beliefs were viewed as ludicrous, but truly were coherent. Poe expresses these beliefs throughout his stories. These beliefs include, alcohol can end and destroy one s life, there s nothing to stop death, and that true happiness is not possible as long as moral evil lurks within the darkness. Edgar Allan Poe believed that alcohol could end and destroy one s life. He conveyed this belief throughout Hop Frog, and Cask of Amontillado. In Poe s story Hop Frog, a self righteous king coerced a jester to drink knowing he was especially not fond of alcohol. • 5. Summary Of The Night Odyssey Lost It was the summer of 1998; I was pregnant with my second child, when my two year old son, my husband, my brother Vladimir, his girlfriend Nicole, two other couples and I went on vacation to Brittany, France. Usually, I spent the summer in Serbia with my two grandmas and the rest of the family. But this year, we decided to go another time to visit them. I never thought this would be one of my most regretted decisions I have ever made. I cannot remember the name of the place where we stayed for two weeks. The only thing I do remember is our night odyssey in Paris, how we weren t able to find the way out through the maze tunnels to the highway which was supposed to lead us to the no name village in Brittany. Eventually, around midday, we arrived at our house. As we were the only ones with a child, the rest of the group treated my son like an alien whose task was to turn the nightly rest upside down, so the banned us to the only bedroom in the first floor. In hindsight, it was the best room of the whole house, due to the heat which emanated at night heavily from the attic rooms and made breathing difficult. The area was beautiful, green hills everywhere; the few houses looked like they were put into the lush meadows by a creative behemoth. Both versions of Electra can be compared to Aeschylus Libation Bearers. However, they are both more dramatic, and more similar to each other than if each Electra was individually compared to the play by Aeschylus. I believe Sophocles uses the supposed death of Orestes to cause a reaction in Electra, in turn enhancing character development. Euripides gives Electra s character power by making her more decisive. He does not rely on the other characters as much to cause Electra s reactions. Electra has more internal initiative. She pushed for Orestes to kill Clytamnestra, even when Orestes was having second doubts, I myself will arrange my mother s death (Euripides, 45). Both Sophocles and Euripides give a sense of more free will to the characters by reducing divine interventions. In both versions Orestes has come from an oracle, and was told he should supply justice to his father s murderers. This is different from the Libation Bearers. In The Libation Bearers, Orestes not only comes with advice from the oracle, but with an ultimatum. Apollo told him to avenge his father or live a life of torment and a shameful death. This makes the gruesome murder and revenge seem like he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Health Issues Of Health Of Women And Infants Essay When a child is born the mother is also born again, as rightfully quoted by Gilbert Parker. Childbirth is one of the greatest privileges on the earth anyone could have and we, as women, should feel proud to be major contributors for it. A mother plays a key role in aiding healthcare workers to mitigate the health crisis associated with childbirth by performing her duties faithfully. One such associated health crisis is Premature (preterm) birth which occurs when the baby is born too early, before 37 weeks of gestational period(CDC,2015). It is an important public health priority in terms of health of women and infants. Extent of this public health problem: Every year an estimated 15 million pretaerm babies are born and this number is still rising.(WHO,2015).In 2014, 1 of every 10 babies born in United States were premature and black infants were 50% more likely to be born premature than white, Hispanic and Asian/Pacific islander infants(CDC,2015). Almost 1 million children die each year due to complications of premature birth(WHO,2015). A major challenge in decreasing the rate of preterm birth is lack of knowledge about the etiologies and effective strategies for prevention. In order to create awareness and mollify premature birth, a community based outreach program based on Transtheoretical Model is proposed to strategically prevent premature birth among high risk population of African American women. • 17. The Concept Of Sustainable Development The concept of sustainable development has been at the centre of many big debates of late including world conferences on development and developmental planners. It is gaining impetus as people get more informed on the current effects of climate change and the looming devastating effects of the same on future generations increasing the unpredictability of the future. At the core of sustainable development is the fragile condition of balancing between protection as well as maintenance of the productivity of the environment and the quest for economic growth. This is a fundamental function of environmental politics. The concept of sustainable development makes us believe that it is possible to realize economic prosperity and protect the environment at the same time (Carter, 2007). Although tradeoff may be made between ecological sustainability and fulfilment of basic human needs (Lélé, 1991), this should not be an encouraged practice because human beings will always give preference to their needs over environmental protection no matter how trivial they may be. The ultimate remedy for sustainable development therefore lies with practical good governance and political will locally, nationally and globally. The origin and prominence of the concept sustainable development can be traced back to the 1980 IUCN s World Conservation Strategy(WCS) which aimed at achieving sustainable development through conservation of living resources (Lélé, 1991). According to Table 2 in the article, as with CP, higher levels of each of the assessed maternal parenting risks were associated with risks for higher levels of child aggression. The Vietnam conflict was a ruthless and long war that had serious consequences for everyone involved and would prove to be a shameful and infamous snapshot of American foreign policy at work. This paper will highlight the geo political relationship of the United States and South Vietnam, focusing on events taking place after the Geneva accords of 1954, in the attempts to insure a non communist Vietnam. The United States refused to sign the Geneva accords (because the U.S. refused any possibility of communist control over Vietnam), but elections were to be held in 1956 to decide the ruling government by popular vote. The U.S. government created SEATO (Southeast Asia Treaty Organization), a regional alliance that swore to protect South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos in the event of Communist rule. SEATO quickly came into full force and became the exact mechanism Washington used to justify its support of South Vietnam. This support of course even became the direct involvement of U.S. troops in Vietnam. In 1955, the U.S. picked Ngo Dinh Diem to replace Bao Dai as the head of the regime in South Vietnam. Robertson Davies depicts a novel in which two opposing characters strive for self completion. The journey of completing one s self is one of Jung s archetypes. According to Jung, completing both the body and soul lies within the characteristics of the psyche. The psyche is composed of three parts: the collective unconscious, ego and the personal unconscious. The collective unconscious is what people come into this world knowing, how children are shaped as adults through their childhood experiences and parental influences. The ego is the image people believe they are. It is this image which people pursue through the rest of their lives until they achieve self completion. Lastly, the ... The Chemical Evolution Of Prebiotic And Biotic Materials The work presented here attacks the issue of understanding the chemical evolution of prebiotic and biotic materials, such as amino acids, from multiple fronts. From an observational standpoint, the identification of carbodiimide in the ISM for the first time has added a new molecule to the known molecular inventory. Beyond this result, and perhaps more importantly, it has hopefully opened others up to the possibility that searches for molecules that should be undetectable under LTE conditions may yet be fruitful. With the thoughtful exploitation of phenomena such as masing, important transient or intermediate species, which have a non negligible effect on the overall chemical and physical evolution of a system, may yet be detected. Through the studies of chp presented here, it has been shown that careful examination of the chemistry and chemical environments probed by the observations can provide a robust and deep insight into the mechanisms at work and the species present. Without any laboratory work having been conducted, and examining only archival observational data, chm was dismissed as the carrier of B11244 based on an analysis of the emph{chemistry} at work in the environments where it had been detected. • 35. United States Political Thought As A Democracy United States political thought today as of today is considered a democracy. A democracy is where the citizens of the United States are eligible to vote for the leaders that represent the country. Without the drafting of the British documents, such as The Magna Carta and the Petition of Rights along with the political upheaval of the Glorious Revolution and Enlightenment, America today would be following the traditional acts of arbitrary monarchical rule. All of these specific times in history were outcomes of people seeing that absolute monarchies were trouble for the fundamental rights of the people. Being under an absolute monarchy is similar to being under a dictatorship which leaves no say in the hand of the people. The Magna Carta, also known as The Great Charter, was the first step into people receiving the rights that they deserved. The King of England, King John was forced by his barons to sign the charter to establish that the monarch was no longer absolute and that the people were guaranteed a trial by jury and due process of law. King John is considered to be one of the worst kings in history. He was not in favor of the people, he was in favor of himself. He was such a greedy King who would penalize any baron who went against his wishes. In 1206, King John lost some land that he was insistent on getting back. According to Piaget, there are four stages in children and that are completed in a set order in all children. The second stage in children is the Preoperational stage. Preoperational children can think in symbols and learn to interact with their environment .During this stage, the development of language occurs. Children learn to interact with their environment through the use of words and images. Piaget states that symbolic thought as characteristic of preoperational thought. In symbolic thought, an object or word can stand for something else, including something out of sigh or imagined (Berger, 10th edition pg.no. 278). Piaget states four limits that for preoperational children to think logically, they are centration, Focus on appearance, static reasoning, and irreversibility. He highlighted a set of experiments called conservation in which preoperational stage children disregards logic. Conservation means the notion that the amount of a substance remains the same even when its appearance changes (Berger, 10th edition,pg.no.279).According to Piaget, the reason young children fails to understand conservation is they focus (center) on what they see (appearance), noticing only the immediate (static) condition.
