Traditional Families Vs Single Parent Families
Traditional families versus single parent families. A traditional family household is a household
with two parents, mother and father. A single parent family household is a one parent household a
mother, or father. This household is usually occurs when a parent dies, parents divorce, or the
parents was never married and separated after having a child together. The question at hand is
would a child be more successful and mentally stable in life growing up in a traditional family
household, or single parenting household? This has been an intriguing argument for many years. I
strongly believe a child in a single parent home could grow up to be just as emotionally stable and
also be just as successful as a child who grows up with both parents.
Many children in today s society have grown to become successful and mentally stable whether
they had two parents, or one parent raise them. With everything in life it is never about quantity,
but quality. This could apply to single parenting as well. As long as a parent create a stable and
nurturing home their child will grow up to be a mature, hard working, independent, and loving
adult. Family structure should not be the main focus when it comes to raising children, the focus
should be on the values and life lessons that are taught to the child as they mature in life. Family
structure in the last decade have change drastically. Children are being raised by same sex parents,
grandparents, extended family, a single father, or a single

The American Dream In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man
Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison was written in 1952, a time in which the African American
community was facing new hardships that differed from the hardships of the generation before
them. Slavery in the United States was outlawed in 1865 after the Civil War with the passing of the
Thirteenth Amendment, but Jim Crow Laws, social norms, and inherited biases continued to make
the American Dream virtually impossible for anyone whose skin color was darker than eggshell.
Today, many of us believe that outright racismhas been defeated; that because we eradicated
sayings like separate but equal , and white is right means there is no way we are like the people in
the 1800s or the early 1900s. In Invisible Man, Ellison highlights the differences between two
generation s problems, however, many of the stereotypes, phrases, and anecdotes Ellison utilizes in
this work shines a light on our own generational issues with race.
President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to
win or lose. L.B.J alludes to the idea of an American dream that if you failed yesterday you can
work hard enough and still make a good life for yourself or your family, but can African
Americans work hard enough? Many older generations of the black community did truly believe in
the American dream. When someone goes from being in bondage to being free, even if that
freedom is limited, it may feel as though anything is possible but for the generations that were

Technology in the Classroom Essay
As we progress further into the 21st century, our society is quickly becoming more and more
integrated to technology. The creations of new laptops and tablets, and the easy access to new
and improved phones have driven younger generations to recruit to these advances as well. The
quick and widespread implementation of these technological advances has shaped the new way we
conduct our daily lives, as well as how knowledge is processed and taught in our classrooms. Today
s technologyprovides teachers, as well as students, with opportunities for teaching and learningthat
were impossible in the past. Technology is being used as a tool to promote human learning, not just
calculators, but including Smart Boards, tablets (iPads), video... Show more content on

When asked to write, young students often struggle to express their ideas on paper because they are
concentrating on how the write the specific letters, however through the use of technology students
enhance their writing because they are not concentrating on how to write the letters, but on the flow
of ideas (Hertzog and Klein 27). Students have successfully improved their writing skills through
the use of technological advancements while still going back to the old fashioned way of hand
writing. Based on experiments done by Hertzog and Klein, they have found many advantages to
using technology in early childhood classrooms. While many supports the idea of technology being
implemented in educational plans, there are many who oppose and argue that technology in today s
classroom can take away important learning time and can also turn educational experiences into
games for students (Klaus 1). However, technology must be appropriately used and with well
trained teachers that can assist students to use these technological advancements for their
educational benefit. As Kenny mentions, integrating technology into the schoolroom is hard work
and can only succeed when

The Role of Music in Forming and Transforming Identities
Write an essay of 2,500 words on the following topic: With reference to two contrasting musical
forms and cultural traditions, discuss the role of music in forming and transforming identities.
Introduction This essay will explore the role of music with regards to the formation and
transformation of identities within the emosubculture contrasting it to the dance music tradition.
The subculture of emo music engulfed many young adults of today s generation including myself
and those who were drawn to its spectrum and their affiliation to the music will allow for an in
depth analysis of points made by scholars which will allow me to contrast the emo subculture to
that of dance music. Dance music has become increasingly popular in the current popular music
scene and it offers a distinct contrast to emo music. Therefore, this provides a genuine contrast that
can be anaylsed and by exploring the contrasting features of these two music forms and their
cultural traditions, it will be possible to conclude the role of music in how it forms and transforms
identities today.
Before delving into the meaning of emo I will first explore the definitions of culture and in
particular, youth subculture, to which emo is linked with. A culture as Stuart Hall describes is a
way in which groups of people handle the raw material of their social and material existence and
also notes Marx in saying that culture is the practice of realising group life in meaningful shape
and form (Marx,

Becoming A Mentor Leader Who Can Work
Using the Northcentral Library and Research Tools to Select a Topic Becoming a mentor/leader
who can work with others to assist them in becoming better educators is my ultimate goal. In
order to accomplish this task, I need to learn more about many topics. One way that will help me
to learn is to utilize the tools of keywords and search limiters to assist my searches in the
Northcentral Library and other sources. Another tool to take advantage of is the use of peer
reviewed materials. Using these will help me save time and focus on the really good material
instead of material that may not have been written by a reliable source. Here are some ways that I
have utilized my research to help motivate my students to be more successful in middle school
allowing me to become a better educator and one who can help others to motivate their students.
Motivating Minority Students I selected three topics interest that I felt would help me to achieve
my goal of learning more about how to work successfully with different types of students. My
topics are 1) Inclusion of Special Education Students in Regular Education Classes, 2) Motivating
Minority Students, and 3) Working with ESOL Learners. I chose Motivating Minority Students
because my school already has many different minorities. I feel that if I can find new ideas and
tools that would motivate them, then the success that they feel would improve the school year for
them. I am pursuing an Educational Specialist degree in Teaching and

The Use of Characters in A Man For All Seasons by Robert Bolt
The Use of Characters in A Man For All Seasons by Robert Bolt
In Robert Bolt s A Man For All Seasons , there is a significant key to the use of characters. Bolt
uses the characters in this play very well and in an unique fashion. Bolt has the character the
common man, who takes the roles as many other characters. This is what makes this play special in
its own way. Bolt uses the common man as other characters which makes the reader really think. He
uses the common man as the narrator, servant, publican or innkeeper, boatman, foreman of the jury,
and the executioner. The common man is used in this play as a symbol of just common everyday
people with common jobs. These people are not of high class just common people. The common ...

This is precisely More s tactic, too (Bryfonski,Harris 90). The publicans pub is where Cromwell
and Rich plot their conspiracy on More. Cromwell tells Rich of his deviant plan but, Rich
wanted no part. Cromwell grabbed Rich, sits him down and gives him a proposition that Rich
would not refuse. This is where Rich betrays More. The common man as the role of the boatman
is important where as this is the point in the play that it is unhealthy to know More. When More
is out late trying to get home, he calls for a lone boatman also on his way home. The boatman is
off duty but, is willing to take More home because he believes More will make it worth his while
(Bolt 25). More says that there are fixed rates and he will pay what he always does. The whole
way the boatman would not give up. He hassled More about the rate but, More did not budge. The
boatman is just a common man trying to earn some fast cash. As foreman of the jury, this common
man has more power than any one person should have. The foreman of the jury has the final say to
convict Sir Thomas More of treason. With the jury being poles with hats on them and the foreman
of the jury being told what to say, More has no chance of getting out of these counterfeit charges.
The foreman of the jury sentences More to execution without a second thought. Even though More
is a honest man and sticks to what he believes in, this is Bolt s way of asserting that even under the
greatest of pressures man can exist

Essay On Maycomb In To Kill A Mockingbird
Maycomb County was a sleepy town in Southern Alabama; everyone knew one another, there was
hardly any violence, and each resident knew their place in the town s social system. This would
easily entitle Maycomb as the perfect town, wouldn t it? Unfortunately, there is always a flaw in the
system. Under the kindness and welcoming environment of this county and its people lies a hidden
layer of judgement, uncivilization, and discrimination. Although these traits are hidden, Maycomb
County isn t your ideal, small Southern town. Throughout the first section of To Kill a Mockingbird,
we get glimpses of how the town bases judgement off of rumors and lies without considering
others points of view. In chapter one Scout tells the reader Inside the house lived a malevolent
phantom. People said he existed, but Jem and I had never seen... Show more content on

In chapter 3 of this novel Burris Ewell says to Miss Caroline, Ain t no snot nosed slut of a school
teacher ever born c n make me do nothin ! . This excerpt from the text proves that not all of
Maycomb was civilized because Burris Ewell has disrespected a female teacher and used crude
language. Back then, disrespecting women was a sin and a crime, therefore proving that Burris
Ewell is uncivilized and rude. Later in chapter 3, Atticus says They live like animals... When a
man spends his relief checks on green whiskey his children have a way of crying from hunger
pains. I don t know any landowner around here who begrudges those children any game their
father can hit. From this quote, the reader learns that Burris Ewell s father is paid by the
government to live properly but spends that money on alcohol instead of caring for his children.
This quote also reveals that the Ewell s are allowed to illegally hunt because of how they live at
home, thus proving that not everyone in Maycomb county is

Gallipoli Film Analysis
This film analysis will define the importance of mateship and sportsmanship in the ANZAC culture
of Gallipoli (1981). Peter Weir film of the Gallipoli Campaign from 1915 196 revolves around the
mateship of Frank Dunne (Mel Gibson) and Archy Hamilton (Mark Lee) that binds them through
sportsmanship and militarynationalism. The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC)
culture is typically based on the athleticism of soldiering culture, which allows Frank to become a
runner of information dispatches during the campaign. More so, Archy s speed is deferred
because of his patriotic desire to be on the front lines of the war. However, Frank and Archy are
bound by the mateship that they experience as alienated short distance runners, which... Show more

The mateship of Archy and Frank is based on the sportsmanship culture of Western Australia
, which
was a popular recruitment method for young men that joined ANZAC and, eventually, fought in
the Gallipoli Campaign. Archy is a the blindly loyal nationalist that relies on his running skills
to put peer pressure on Frank to join ANZAC. Frank initially declines, but the sportsmanship
culture encourages a deep bond with a fellow short distance runner in the effort to maintain
mateship. However, there were many different soldiers from a wide variety of backgrounds,
such as lower class backgrounds, which define a different and less romantic view of
sportsmanship that Weir presents in this film. In reality, man men from the lower working classes
joined ANZAC as a way to avoid poverty and low wage work. Archy and Frank s relationship is a
heroic and romantic view of the Gallipoli Campaign, yet it does show the horror and carnage of
bloody murder of young men, such as Archy, that died in this failed attack against the Turkish
Army. In this manner, the film Gallipoli provides insight into some aspects of mateship and
sportsmanship between Archy and frank that was certainly valid, but it does not provide a
comprehensive and realistic understanding of the multiple perspectives of class status and identity
that defined enlistment in ANZAC in WWI.

St. Francis Of Assisi Essay
St. Francis of Assisi was born in Umbria in the year 1182. He was a child every father hoped for,
he was filled with life, a determined and courageous individual. He was gifted with rather good
looks, qualities that attracted friends and a gift of leadership. His father was an extremely wealthy
merchant in Assisi. But this son, his favourite, was the one who broke Peter Bernardone s heart.
The boy turned on his father, and in a vicious event that eventually resulted into a public scene. St.
Francisof Assisi stepped away from his father, his business and left his father in a state of immense
emotional suffering.

rejoiced at his return, Francis was known as their leader during the time, they soon sensed that
Francis had changed. Something was troubling him. The townspeople concluded that Francis
had fallen in love. Francis companions would ask him who it was. Francis had to answer, but he

Chapter 11 Analysis
After reading chapter 11 of our textbook, there were three important topics that stood out to me. The
first topic that I thought was interesting was the purposes of assessments. According to Carjuzaa
and Kellough, the purposes of assessments are for assisting student learning, identify students
strengths and weaknesses, assess the effectiveness of a particular instruction strategy, assess and
improve the effectiveness of curriculum programs, assess and improve teaching effectiveness, to
provide data in order to communicate with parents and guardians and to involve them in their
children s learning, and to provide data that assist in decision making about a student s future

The three stage process of assessing a student s achievement is diagnostic assessments, formative
assessment, and summative assessment. Diagnostic assessment is the assessment of the student s
knowledge and skills before the new instruction. Formative assessment is the assessment of learning
during the instruction and summative assessment is the assessment of learning after the instruction,
ultimately represented by the student s final term, semester, or year s achievement grade (Carjuzaa
Kellough, 2017, pg. 340). For example, in a physical education class, there can be a unit on golf and
the diagnostic assessment for this unit can be to have students try to hit the golf ball without any
instruction. This will give the PE teacher a great understanding of his or her students skill level.
Following that, the teacher will give lessons on different types of swings and throughout these
lessons, the teacher can provide formative assessments to check for understanding. At the very end
of the unit, the teacher can give a summative assessment to test everything the teacher covered
throughout the golf

government system this form of politics began to trend and within the past two centuries a lot
had happened. Opensecret.org released information on a timeline to expose the history of
lobbying by saying By the Gilded Age of the 1870s, the lobbying industry was in full swing, and
Sam Ward was the undisputed King of the Lobby. Ward was the pioneering social lobbyer, who
dazzled members of Congress with fancy dinners, fine wines, and conversation that often
eventually won them over to his side. However, in 1875, Ward was convicted of and admitted to
bribery. In his testimony to Congress, Ward is quoted as saying of his position as a lobbyist, I
do not say I am proud but I am not ashamed of the occupation. To show that in the Gilded Age

number of people who bribed politicians and this went on until the passing of the Foreign Agents

Sherman began her famous series of Untitled Film Series at the end of 1977. The small black

Caledonian Credit Company (C.C.C)
Outcome DJ42 34 CCCCC
The managing director of C.C.C had asked me to answer the following 7 questions relating to
customer care/ focus and aftercare.
To understand what excellent customer care and the impact of both positive and negative
experiences can have on a customer, we must firstly understand what a customer is and secondly
what Customer Care is.
A customer can either be an individual or a business, on a daily basis we interact with customers
both internally and externally. Each customer will have a unique set of requirements and needs.
For external customers this could be to have bank accounts to save money in, ability to pay bills
(Direct debits etc), buy/sell shares, create pension ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To enable C.C.C to embrace this concept there needs to be a radical change in the management
style. Obstacles which will stand in the way of customer care would be poor communication, lack
of commitment from management, proper staff training and lack of resources.
The most appropriate style of management would be no.3 the Flat organisation. This will remove
some of the barriers between external and internal customers.
Question 4 overlaps with no.3, to remove some of the decision making levels of management
means that that front line staff need to have the ability and responsibility to make decisions and
respond to customer complaints in a manner which does not need to be authorised by the high level
management. An example of this could be charges placed on a customer s account for their account
going overdrawn due to an oversight. The front line staff can be given the authority to on individual
cases to refund those charges if they felt that it was more an oversight that intentionally abusing the
overdraft facility. In doing this it gives both the customer satisfaction and also the staff in that they
are making a difference helping C.C.C in attaining targets. Empowering the staff should also make
the role of management easier, if issues arise the managers can ask the staff how they think they can
resolve or improve services without them

confidence and opening up. Being dropped in a room with twenty five strangers, all of which

at least I was told that I talked differently than they did. Towards the beginning of the week, being
labeled as different made me not want to talk. I stayed quiet for most of the week when I was in a

The Struggle Of Control And Women
Ah knows uh few things, and womenfolks thinks sometimes too! Aw naw they don t. They just

understand one. Times and scenes like that put Janie to thinking about the inside state of her
marriage. Time came when she fought back with her tongue as best as she could, but it didn t do
her any good. It just made Joe do more. He wanted her submission and he s keep on fighting until
he felt he had it. (Hurston 71) (E) In this passage, Hurston effectively conveys the struggle of
control and the roles of gender in a relationship. The dominating figure of the relationship is the
man, Jody, who oppresses her and exercises his power over her in order to boost his social
reputation and to retain the control in the relationship. Men are capable of proving their dominance
by belittling and disrespecting women, who are deemed as the less stronger and more delicate ones
in the relationship. These beliefs are held by Jody, as he deems women less intelligent than men,
because they see ten things and don t understand one. Janie, opposing these traditional values set by
their society, has a different viewpoint, believing that women can be smart and ambitious. As much
as she challenges him and invalidates his arguments, Jody does not care about a fair argument, and
he only retaliates further. In their relationship, her verbal fight is no match against his physical
dominance over her, which

This report complies the analysis of the new strategy for Saab Automobile following its acquisition
by Spyker Cars. The report attempts to assess this strategy and its potential success with an
evaluation and analysis of the industry, strategy, macro environment, competitive advantage and
sustainability of the competitive advantage. Various frameworks were applied in this report,
including Porter s 5 Forces, Strategic group analysis and VRIN analysis. Findings show, that Saab

In terms of its operational performance Saab has managed to improve since the Spyker take
over (in early 2010). The number of cars sold increased by 15% from 2009 to 2010 while the
number of cars produced improved by 53% in the same time. Therefore Saab was able to re stock
the inventories of dealers that were running low, especially in the US (Saab, Saab Automobilesees,
2011). This shows that the company is on the way to a viable company and has the potential to
expand further in the upcoming years. However, an issue of up most importance is the dealing with
the large debt obligations that Saab has accumulated. The figure of net working capital of €
220 million illustrates the severity of the п¬Ѓnancial situation and the cost of new capital, meaning
it will be very difficult and costly for Saab to obtain further funds which are needed to
implement their strategic decisions (Spyker cars N.V., 2011) .

Driving Age Research Paper
The driving age in the state of Virginia is fine and should not be changed. Making the driving
age higher doesn t help anyone. If the driving age is changed teens that have jobs that drive
themselves to work will not be able to anymore. Even though it would make a little less traffic it
will inconvenience a lot of people. Lots of accidents happen because of people not looking at the
road, using their phones, Dozing off, or even just daydreaming, but if teens are taught better while
in school, or drivingclass, they will know not to do something silly like that.
Only 6.4% of accidents are caused by teens, Over 50% of these accidents are caused by alcohol
impaired drivers. Over 50% of all fatal highway crashes involving two or more cars are alcohol
related. According to the NHTSA, over 3,000 people were killed and over 300,000 injured in
motor vehicle accidents connected to distracted driving. That represents 10% of all fatal crashes
and 17% of all accidents that caused injuries. Teen drivers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A lot of people don t trust teen drivers with driving in heavy traffic, and long distance trips. If an
adult gets into an accident with another adult, like if one turned when the other had the right of

would try to blame it on the teen saying that they are inexperienced and it s all their fault and most
likely the teen would get their brand new license revoked.
If you want someone to be successful you will help them in anyway you can. Like if someone

you see a teen driver struggling on the road driving badly you should correct them. Increasing the
age of driving doesn t help 16 year olds that have jobs it just makes life harder for

Essay Cinematography in Schindler s List
The paper I decided to do was on Schindler s List . I have seen this movie four times and yet had
not really noticed the many ways in which the director, Steven Spielberg, used the camera to
emphasis a million words . It was interesting, when watching this film from this stand point, how I
was able to see the importance of the way the director uses sounds and color to make some much
significant points of a film.
I decided to emphasis the way certain close ups and facial expressions were used to show very
significant emotions of the characters in the film. In these particular scenes, no words had to be
used. The camera focuses on the character involved in the scene and one can tell exactly what is
going on in the mind of the character. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The relieved boy runs off. The next scene is a powerful scene. The camera does a close up of
Goeth looking into a mirror. He is adjusting his hair. He seems to slip into a dream world. He
envisions himself the powerful emperor that Schindler describes. He whispers I pardon you . The
camera then focuses on Goeth eyes. Without saying anything, the viewer knows that Goeth is far
too gone. He doesn t have the power described by Schindler. He is a mad man.
Another scene with Goeth that uses camera scene only and silence to depict so much is the scene
where all the Jewish is in the hot trains. Schindler feels compassion toward these suffering
people. He asks that some hoses be provided in order to cool the passengers. The SS guards
think, because of their own perversions, that Schindler is trying to be cruel. They think he is
trying to give the Jewish false hope. Schindler laughs a long with them. He then asks that his
very long hoses be brought so that they will reach the end of the train cars. The next scene
shows Schindler spraying the cars at the end of the line. The camera shows a close up of Amon
Goeth. Goeth s expression, without any words, shows a man that is very confused. You can tell
that Goeth now sees that Schindler is not being cruel. He sees a man that is powerful,
compassionate and a member of the Nazi party. Goeth s expression seems to ask how???

The Role Of Religion In The Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages or the Medieval times, religion was a huge aspect of many people s
lives, especially the Christians. During the early Middle Ages, Christianity was a new religion that
was not accepted in the Roman Empire. As it became more popular and the religion spread, it soon
became the religion of the Roman Empire, and people began to worship openly. As the Middle Ages
progressed, it quickly became the most popular religion. Churches were built and they were a huge
influencer. Art was also a huge influencer, as many artists who were Christian created sculptures,
paintings, and other forms of art to display their devotion to Christ. People of the faith would
also use these forms of art to worship. Depictions of Christ in his early life were very prominent
during this time, and people would visit them and worship these forms of art. People would go to
or create these artworks that depicted the early life of Christ, whether they were sculptures or
paintings, to show their devotion to the faith, to worship, and also for expanding their influence.
During the Middle Ages, people of the Christian faith would both create and visit these artworks
that depicted the early life of Christ to show their devotion to the religion. Even though religious art
has been around since the beginning of Christianity, it became very prominent during the central
Middle Ages when an abundant amount of churches, abbeys, and cathedrals were being built. These

Though most groups are targeting the higher ups in a business or production, many of the lower

not the right way to approach the situation. Legal actions should, and are often taken against these
individuals that see it necessary to cause destruction to fix a problem. Because of their violent
actions, environmental activists have been legally deemed terrorists. They have inflicted millions

Eco terrorist came into play because the goal of these domestic terrorists are the same as those of

The Values Of A College Is A Community College
A college is an educational institution where you earn the skill, the values, the education, the
degree to succeed in life. It may be a four year college, a community college or an institution that
offers vocational education. Now that you know how I define a college, I would like to explain
the prompt and my viewpoint. Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill, in their report published in
2013 by the Brookings Institution, mention for certain schools, majors, occupations and
individuals, a college may not be a smart investment (page 209), to which I completely disagree.
I will use the following paragraphs to substantiate my viewpoint that, college indeed is a smart
investment irrespective of the occupations and majors, by citing examples, quotes, and some
personal anecdotes. As John Stuart Mill once said and I quote the objective of universities is not
to make skillful lawyers, physicians, or engineers, but capable and cultivated human beings .
From the discussion in the class, we reached a similar conclusion about how college plays an
important role in our lives and enlisted reasons for attending college. College presents a myriad of
opportunities in terms of networking, for jobs. It helps a person to grow into a skillful, well

Should Ionizing Radiation Be Used In Medical Diagnosis
INTRODUCTION
Radiation procedures used to diagnose medical conditions over the past century have grown from a
scientific curiosity to a pervasive, essential part of modern health care. Radiology originated with
ionizing radiation to diagnose human disease, however since discovering the physiological risks
associated with ionizing radiation, such as mutation/cancer, an ongoing controversy arises as to
whether ionizing radiation should be used in medical diagnosis. This investigation will analyze
each end of the argument continuum to determine if ionizing radiation should continue to be used
in medical diagnosis.

There are different types of ionizing radiation, including gamma rays and x rays, which have been
known to cause cancer. Additionally, because x rays can kill living cells, when improperly used
they can cause severe burns, cancer, leukemia, and cataracts. They can speed aging, reduce
immunity to disease, and bring about disastrous changes in the reproductive cells.
Having few procedures employing ionizing radiation throughout your life may seem harmless, but
as the levels of doses increase, your risk of developing cancer rises at the same rate, according to
the LNT model. Figure 4 below exhibits potential medical consequences of certain periods of
exposure to ionizing radiation:
CONCLUSION
Given the evidence, it can be concluded that while there are risks that arise with ionizing radiation
in medical diagnosis, overall the benefits outweigh the risks, as doctors are able to diagnose various
health concerns that would go undetected otherwise. That being said, ionizing radiation should
continue to be used in medical diagnosis as they provide valuable medical procedures that can

Cause And Effects Of The Korean War
Recently there has been a few state actors who are now threating the United States much more then
they have in the past. The foremost and greatest threat to the U.S. is North Korea as it stands right
now. This was confirmed by Defense Secretary James Mattis stating, North Korea s advancing
missile and nuclear programs were the most urgent threat to national security and that its means to
deliver them had increased in speed and scope (Ali, 2017). Over the past six months, the Korean
Warpart II has been slowly starting to take shape and threat of war could be looming in the future.
The Korean War, which started 67 years ago, which has technically never ended, led to the deaths
of about 600,000 North Korean and 1 million South Koreans, along with hundreds of thousands of
U.S. troops (Berlinger, 2017). The legacy of the brutal war lives on in North Korea, where key
pieces of propaganda are still used by the regime today. The world is closely watching the tug of
war between the world s super power and the lonely North Koreans, having both President
Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un aware of the immense cost of the another Korean
War (Berlinger, 2017). Defense Secretary James Mattis stated: both the U.S. and North Korea
have proved over time they can demonstrate restraint, de escalate a crisis and step back from the
brink of war. Both have interest in avoiding a war, which would be in nobody s best interest. If
this goes to a military solution, it is going to be

Set realistic goals.
Make it your goal to adopt healthier eating and exercise habits. If you feel compelled to set a
weight loss goal, losing 10 to 15 percent of your current body weight is a realistic objective. The
good news is that a weight loss of as little as 5 to 10 percent of body weight can significantly
improve risk factors for heart disease such as high blood pressure, high blood glucose and
triglycerides, and low HDL cholesterol levels. The safest rate of weight loss is 0.5 to 2 lbs a

The Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) strike of August 3. 1981was a

FAA won similar orders in Minnesota and Alaska (Northrup 169). As a direct result, the FAA
fired fifty two controllers, of whom forty six were later reinstated to their positions. The FAA also
suspended nearly on thousand more controllers for a short period of time. As a result of the strike,
Bailey s tenure as executive director of PATCO came to an end when his position was abolished.
Subsequently, John F.

Assistant Secretary of Labor W. J. Usery disqualified PATCO as a bargaining agent for 126 days.
The union was later reinstated by Usery and it won exclusive bargaining rights election in 1972.
In July and August of 1976 tensions ran high again after the Civil Service Commissioner declined
to reclassified controllers to a higher salary grade. The result was that PATCO staged slowdowns
for five days at the nation s busiest airports. Its tactics proved successful when on
January 13, 1977, the Commission reversed itself and increased controllers wages (Northrup

Why Is Frankenstein Bad
Good people do bad things. Doing a bad thing does not make someone a monster. For example, if
a young boy was raised in the ghetto where he and his family never had enough to eat he might
have to steal to get for his family. Even though he has done something illegal and immoral that
does not make him a bad person. He was just doing what he had to do to get his family food to

This kid just made a bad choice in an awful situation but he made the choice for the right reason, to

Assignment On Steeple And Swot Analysis
Part 3: Critically analyse task 6, 7 and 9 from the workbook
Task 6 and 7: STEEPLE and SWOT analysis
Strategic analysis tools or strategic frameworks are developed to direct organisational tactics and
match faculty abilities with market chances so that the faculty can achieve a strategic planning and
a unified set of goals including continuing analysis and evaluation (Tomlinson, 2011). Most
institutions can adopt one or more strategic frameworks to drive faculty development by providing
critical external and internal factors using STEEPLE and SWOT analysis, respectively to formulate
the strategy. However, errors and potential limitations of strategic frameworks can occur, if
organisations have inabilities of managerial and administrative such as lack of skill and experience
to create an effective strategy (Tomlinson, 2011).
According to the STEEPLE analysis framework, this framework is used to categorise and
determine the factors of macro environment and external influences that may affect the
performance of organisations and future activities in both the short and long term (Grant, 2008).
STEEPLE is an acronym for social, technological, economic, environmental, political, legal and
ethical considerations so a strategic project team needs to analyse and identify the potential impact
of these composing factors such as changes, trends and movements in order to maximise efficiency
of the organisation (Jones Murray, 2008). Moreover, it requires a deeper knowledge and critical

1984 Controlling The Mind Analysis
In 1984 by George Orwell, Big Brother uses fear and lies to control its citizens and their thoughts.
They are constantly being monitored using Telescreens, so everything done or said is recorded by
Big Brother and used against them. O Brien, an inner party member, tricks Winston Smith into
believing there were other people like Winston who oppose Big Brother. O Brien tells Winston that
his thoughts and memories are delusions that never occurred. O Brien later explains that Big
Brother controls all, including reality itself. Reality is what someone feels and experiences so it s
possible that Big Brother controls reality by controlling the mind.Reality is what is perceived to be
true, but what exactly is the truth when someone controls your mind. In science, reality is a
theoretical notion of understanding that can never be proven. In the Copenhagen Interpretation
from the school of quantum mechanics, reality does not exist without an observer to observe it so

World War I When The Treaty Of Versailles
After the conclusion of World War I when the Treaty of Versailles was signed, the seeds were
planted that led to the beginning of World War II. The immediate cause for the beginning of the
second war was popularly considered to be the German army s invasion of Poland. As the leader of
the Nazi party, one of Hitler s key goals was to be the domination of Europe, which he aimed to
take by force. France and Britain had warned Germany in 1939 that invading Poland would lead to
a declaration of war, so when Hitler invaded Poland in September 1939, war broke out in Europe.
This resulted in a violent war that lasted for several years and resulted in the loss of several soldier
as well as civilian lives. The Second World War was a devastating war

The intention when the plan was introduced was that all countries would join the League and
thus all international disputes would be settled by negotiation as opposed to being settled by war
(Breuer, 286). If this plan were to fail then the other nations would have to stop trading with the
country breaking the agreement and if that failed, the other countries would be forced to then use
their armies to fight. The diplomatic philosophy behind the League of Nations represented a shift
in thought from the preceding century, where an agreement such as this one would be unlikely to
be agreed upon. The older philosophy, coming from the Congress of Vienna, had led to the
continent of Europe being a shifting map of alliances among several nation states, creating a
balance of power that was maintained by aligned armies and secret treaties. Under this newly
introduced philosophy, the League was to be a government of governments, with the established
role of settling disputes between individual nations. Although the idea for the founding of the
League came from U.S. President Wilson, the United States never joined (Breuer, 288). This
lessened the power and credibility of the League, although the addition of an industrial and
military world power would have added more, later necessary, force behind the League s demands
and requests. Also, because the League lacked an armed force of it depended on the members to

Disputed Territory of Israel and Palestine
The territory of Israel and Palestine has been disputed since 1947, and the conflict in this region
continues to this day. It has become an international conflict as it has spread outside the boundaries
of those nations involved, associating other countries such as Syria, Jordan and Egypt with the
contentions. Other countries have also become involved, with the aim of generating peace and
stability throughout the region, but as of yet, the unrest remains. The recent conflict originally
arose after world war two as a result of the UN (United Nations) allowing the division of the
Palestine region into Jewish and Arab sectors because of the migration of many Jews into the
region, in 1930 alone 230,000 Jews moved into this location to avoid the negative attitudes and
actions that were brought about as a result of the Hitler Regime. The Palestinians believe that Israel
belongs to them, and that the UN s decision is wrong, whereas the Jews believe that parts of the
land belong to them because of the religiously important history related to the location, a
movement known as Zionism also encouraged Jews to move to Palestine as they saw it as the
natural location to create a Jewish state. One location that was proven in court to religiously belong
to the Jews is the Sheik Jarrah neighbourhood, where Jews are now being allowed to settle, with the
other parts of the population being forcefully evicted from their homes.
One location that is populated by Palestinians is that of the

Diversified companies, straddling multiple industries, or even just different parts of one large

How Does Marijuana Affect The Body
For many years scientists have conducted studies about marijuana and the different effects that it
has on the mind and body. Marijuana smoke can cause many of the same respiratory problems
experienced by tobacco smokers, such as increased daily cough and chest illnesses such as
bronchitis, and a greater instance of lung infections, according to NIDA. Whenever a person
smokes marijuana, THC quickly passes from the lungs into the bloodstream. Tetrahydrocannabinol

blood carries the chemical to the brain and other organs throughout the body. The body absorbs

Essay on The New Liberal Arts

English 101
The New Liberal Arts is an article written by Sanford J. Ungar, who is a president of Goucher
College in Baltimore, Maryland. In the beginning of his article, Ungar wrote, Hard economic times
inevitably bring scrutiny of all accepted ideals and institutions, and this time around the liberal arts
education has been especially hard hit. In other words, Ungar means that recent economic
recessions have made a huge impact on what people think of going for a liberal arts degree. In his
essay, Ungar lists seven misperceptions and how he reacts to them. The most common
misperception that Ungar identified is that liberal arts degrees are no longer affordable. The cost
for liberal arts education is very expensive while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wrote, The career bandwagon seems to suggest that shortcuts are available to students that
lead directly to high paying jobs leaving out frills like learning how to write and speak well, how
to understand the nuances of literacy texts and scientific concepts, how to collaborate with
others on research What he means by that is there is no shortcuts to a high paying jobs. He also
implies that liberal arts education is the only right way to prepare an individual for their future
career because it equips ones with the abilities to write and speak formally, and understandings
on scientific matter or how to cooperate with other people for your work, etc. However, I do not
think he can deny the fact that the starting salary for a liberal arts graduate is approximately
$32,500 while for an engineer is $75,000, (http://www.mtu.edu/engineering/outreach/welcome
/salary/). For instant, what can a person possibly do with his philosophy degree right after
graduating? He will probably have to go for more schooling before he can find a high paying job at
some big firms or he will have to struggle a lot before he can open his philosophy shop or publish
his book. In short, a liberal arts degree will take longer to see its worth than career education or
vocational training.

The Mathematics Of Blood Alcohol Concentration
The Mathematics of Blood Alcohol Concentration
As I approached my sixteenth birthday, I began to study for my G1 written test in order to
receive my drivers licence. While doing a practice test, I came across a statistic that stated, In
the United States in 2013, it was estimated that 10 076 people were killed in crashes that
involved one or more drunk drivers and 290 000 people were injured in these accidents . I had
heard a variation of this statistic many times, however I didn t truly grasp the magnitude of these
numbers until I began to reflect on the effects of driving under the influence. As a potential new
driver, I was concerned about the use of alcohol while driving so I began to wonder how toxins,
specifically alcohol, react within our bodies. I also wondered how, or even if, this interaction could
be represented through the use of mathematical analysis.
In my research I discovered for myself a field known as pharmacokinetics, which is a branch of
pharmacology that deals with the interactions of drugs in our bodies. In pharmacokinetics, the
interaction of alcohol with the body can be visually represented using a concentration time graph,
where the concentration can be graphed as a function with respect to time in hours. The
concentration in this case refers to Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC), which is the amount of
alcohol in 100 mL of blood with units, mg/100mL, or often expressed as a percent. BAC is a means
by which doctors can determine a person s

Causes And Disadvantages Of Tooth Discoloration
A recent survey has found that 80% of Americans aged eighteen to forty nine want their teeth whiter
(Lisa Vernon Sparks 2010). According to the American Association of Orthodontists, they have
found that 90% of their patients request tooth whitening (Mouth Healthy 2013). Many claim a
brighter smile would help boost their self confidence and it is also a cost effective way to enhance
teeth(Your Smile Becomes You). Teeth whitening has become an easy way to instantly improve
appearance or first impression on someone. Numerous toothpastecompanies claim their brand of
toothpaste can whiten teeth the best, but can they really? Top toothpaste brands include Colgate
Optic Whitening Toothpaste, 3D Crest White Luxe Toothpaste, AP 24, Arm Hammer Advance
White Toothpaste, Sensodyne Pronamel Whitening Toothpaste, and many more. Overall AP 24
Toothpaste has the best whitening result on ceramic tile.
What is the tooth discoloration? The main causes of tooth discoloration is antibiotics, genetics,
certain foods, and aging. There are two types of tooth discoloration. They consist of internal and
external tooth discoloration. Internal tooth discoloration is caused by changes in enamel of the
dentin and tooth. Main causes of internal tooth discoloration are exposure to high level fluoride,
tetracycline, use of antibiotics as a child, developmental disorders, tooth decay, trauma, root canal

Isotopes and Its Uses
ISOTOPES
History of the term:
In the bottom right corner of JJ Thomson s photographic plate are the separate impact marks for
the two isotopes of neon: neon 20 and neon 22.
The term isotope was coined in 1913 by Margaret Todd, a Scottish physician, during a
conversation with Frederick Soddy (to whom she was distantly related by marriage).[4] Soddy, a
chemist at Glasgow University, explained that it appeared from his investigations as if each
position in the periodic table was occupied by multiple entities. Hence Todd made the suggestion,
which Soddy adopted, that a suitable name for such an entity would be the Greek term for at the
same place .
Soddy s own studies were of radioactive (unstable) atoms. The first observation of different ... Show

The proton:neutron ratio is not the only factor affecting nuclear stability. Adding neutrons to
isotopes can vary their nuclear spins and nuclear shapes, causing differences in neutron capture
cross sections and gamma spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance properties.
Even mass number
Beta decay of an even even nucleus produces an odd odd nucleus, and vice versa. An even
number of protons or of neutrons are more stable (lower binding energy) because of pairing
effects, so even even nuclei are much more stable than odd odd. One effect is that there are few
stable odd odd nuclei, but another effect is to prevent beta decay of many even even

Experiential-Descriptive Theory Of Personality Disorders
The American system for the classification of mental disorders added personality disorders to the
DSM III in 1980. At this point, interest and clinical research of the disordersbegan to grow. Studies
soon confirmed what many clinicians believed; personality disorders were under diagnosed and
extremely common. Nearly 80% of individuals seeking mental health treatment met the criteria for
at least 1 of the 10 personality disorders. In An Experiential Descriptive Method for the Diagnosis
of Personality Disorders Edward E. Hunter state that The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Health Disorders,Fourth Edition defines personality disorders as enduring patterns of
perceiving, relating to, andthinking about the environment and oneself that are exhibited in a wide
range of social and personal contexts (630) (1).Often times people with a personality disorderhave
difficulty communicating. They may feel inferior or believe they will be judged and ridiculed.
Hunterinsists that When these traits are inflexible and maladaptive, causing significant functional
impairment or subjective distress, they constitute a disorder (1). Intensive therapy will likely be
required if these patterns are to be disrupted. The disorder is defined as an enduring pattern of inner
experiences and behavior that deviates markedly from expectations of the individuals culture in two
of the following areas: cognition, affectivity, interpersonal function and impulsecontrol (qtd. In
Hunter 1). Although all 10 personality disorders carry different symptoms, they all must fall under
these guidelines to be diagnosed. It is widely believed that personality
Fowler2 disorders, when severe, are untreatable; however, some forms of therapy are affective and
lessen the symptoms. I have been diagnosed with a personality disorder and understand the stigma
around these disorders; stigmas that need to be brought to the light. Personality disorders are the
onlydisorders some clinicians refuse to treat. However, this group of people may need treatment
more than any other group battling a mental illness. In Reconceiving Personality
Disorders:Adaptations on a Dimension? Hamilton Fairfax reports that The diagnosis, treatment and

How Did You Call The Period Between 1860 And 1877 Nothing...
As the Civil War ended, conflict, that was much less violent, arose. The matter of putting the
country back together laid heavily upon the shoulders of the government. Questions of rights to
power emanated. Discrimination grew steadily more powerful. This period of time was not as
radical as events such as the Revolutionary War that began the country, but the many parallels to it
brought it awfully close. Through questioning of the central and state governmentpower levels,
heavy constitutional observation and interpretation, and morality based decision making, it is fair
to call the period between 1860 and 1877 nothing short of revolutionary.
The Revolutionary War was as its title states; revolutionary. The people of the colonies were
disconsolate with the power that Great Britain was exhibiting over them. Similarly, the South was
unhappy with the central governments right to declare the way they discriminated against the black
peoples unlawful. In South Carolina s Declaration of Causes of Secession, they directly stated that
the exercise of certain of their powers was restrained, which necessarily imperiled their continued
existence as sovereign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Traditional Families Vs Single Parent Families Traditional families versus single parent families. A traditional family household is a household with two parents, mother and father. A single parent family household is a one parent household a mother, or father. This household is usually occurs when a parent dies, parents divorce, or the parents was never married and separated after having a child together. The question at hand is would a child be more successful and mentally stable in life growing up in a traditional family household, or single parenting household? This has been an intriguing argument for many years. I strongly believe a child in a single parent home could grow up to be just as emotionally stable and also be just as successful as a child who grows up with both parents. Many children in today s society have grown to become successful and mentally stable whether they had two parents, or one parent raise them. With everything in life it is never about quantity, but quality. This could apply to single parenting as well. As long as a parent create a stable and nurturing home their child will grow up to be a mature, hard working, independent, and loving adult. Family structure should not be the main focus when it comes to raising children, the focus should be on the values and life lessons that are taught to the child as they mature in life. Family structure in the last decade have change drastically. Children are being raised by same sex parents, grandparents, extended family, a single father, or a single ... • 4. The American Dream In Ralph Ellison s Invisible Man Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison was written in 1952, a time in which the African American community was facing new hardships that differed from the hardships of the generation before them. Slavery in the United States was outlawed in 1865 after the Civil War with the passing of the Thirteenth Amendment, but Jim Crow Laws, social norms, and inherited biases continued to make the American Dream virtually impossible for anyone whose skin color was darker than eggshell. Today, many of us believe that outright racismhas been defeated; that because we eradicated sayings like separate but equal , and white is right means there is no way we are like the people in the 1800s or the early 1900s. In Invisible Man, Ellison highlights the differences between two generation s problems, however, many of the stereotypes, phrases, and anecdotes Ellison utilizes in this work shines a light on our own generational issues with race. President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose. L.B.J alludes to the idea of an American dream that if you failed yesterday you can work hard enough and still make a good life for yourself or your family, but can African Americans work hard enough? Many older generations of the black community did truly believe in the American dream. When someone goes from being in bondage to being free, even if that freedom is limited, it may feel as though anything is possible but for the generations that were ... • 5. Technology in the Classroom Essay As we progress further into the 21st century, our society is quickly becoming more and more integrated to technology. The creations of new laptops and tablets, and the easy access to new and improved phones have driven younger generations to recruit to these advances as well. The quick and widespread implementation of these technological advances has shaped the new way we conduct our daily lives, as well as how knowledge is processed and taught in our classrooms. Today s technologyprovides teachers, as well as students, with opportunities for teaching and learningthat were impossible in the past. Technology is being used as a tool to promote human learning, not just calculators, but including Smart Boards, tablets (iPads), video... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When asked to write, young students often struggle to express their ideas on paper because they are concentrating on how the write the specific letters, however through the use of technology students enhance their writing because they are not concentrating on how to write the letters, but on the flow of ideas (Hertzog and Klein 27). Students have successfully improved their writing skills through the use of technological advancements while still going back to the old fashioned way of hand writing. Based on experiments done by Hertzog and Klein, they have found many advantages to using technology in early childhood classrooms. While many supports the idea of technology being implemented in educational plans, there are many who oppose and argue that technology in today s classroom can take away important learning time and can also turn educational experiences into games for students (Klaus 1). However, technology must be appropriately used and with well trained teachers that can assist students to use these technological advancements for their educational benefit. As Kenny mentions, integrating technology into the schoolroom is hard work and can only succeed when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Role of Music in Forming and Transforming Identities Write an essay of 2,500 words on the following topic: With reference to two contrasting musical forms and cultural traditions, discuss the role of music in forming and transforming identities. Introduction This essay will explore the role of music with regards to the formation and transformation of identities within the emosubculture contrasting it to the dance music tradition. The subculture of emo music engulfed many young adults of today s generation including myself and those who were drawn to its spectrum and their affiliation to the music will allow for an in depth analysis of points made by scholars which will allow me to contrast the emo subculture to that of dance music. Dance music has become increasingly popular in the current popular music scene and it offers a distinct contrast to emo music. Therefore, this provides a genuine contrast that can be anaylsed and by exploring the contrasting features of these two music forms and their cultural traditions, it will be possible to conclude the role of music in how it forms and transforms identities today. Before delving into the meaning of emo I will first explore the definitions of culture and in particular, youth subculture, to which emo is linked with. A culture as Stuart Hall describes is a way in which groups of people handle the raw material of their social and material existence and also notes Marx in saying that culture is the practice of realising group life in meaningful shape and form (Marx, ... • 8. The Use of Characters in A Man For All Seasons by Robert Bolt The Use of Characters in A Man For All Seasons by Robert Bolt In Robert Bolt s A Man For All Seasons , there is a significant key to the use of characters. Bolt uses the characters in this play very well and in an unique fashion. Bolt has the character the common man, who takes the roles as many other characters. This is what makes this play special in its own way. Bolt uses the common man as other characters which makes the reader really think. He uses the common man as the narrator, servant, publican or innkeeper, boatman, foreman of the jury, and the executioner. The common man is used in this play as a symbol of just common everyday people with common jobs. These people are not of high class just common people. The common ... Cromwell tells Rich of his deviant plan but, Rich wanted no part. Cromwell grabbed Rich, sits him down and gives him a proposition that Rich would not refuse. This is where Rich betrays More. The common man as the role of the boatman is important where as this is the point in the play that it is unhealthy to know More. When More is out late trying to get home, he calls for a lone boatman also on his way home. The boatman is off duty but, is willing to take More home because he believes More will make it worth his while (Bolt 25). More says that there are fixed rates and he will pay what he always does. The whole way the boatman would not give up. He hassled More about the rate but, More did not budge. The boatman is just a common man trying to earn some fast cash. As foreman of the jury, this common man has more power than any one person should have. The foreman of the jury has the final say to convict Sir Thomas More of treason. With the jury being poles with hats on them and the foreman of the jury being told what to say, More has no chance of getting out of these counterfeit charges. The foreman of the jury sentences More to execution without a second thought. Even though More is a honest man and sticks to what he believes in, this is Bolt s way of asserting that even under the greatest of pressures man can exist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Essay On Maycomb In To Kill A Mockingbird Maycomb County was a sleepy town in Southern Alabama; everyone knew one another, there was hardly any violence, and each resident knew their place in the town s social system. This would easily entitle Maycomb as the perfect town, wouldn t it? Unfortunately, there is always a flaw in the system. Under the kindness and welcoming environment of this county and its people lies a hidden layer of judgement, uncivilization, and discrimination. Although these traits are hidden, Maycomb County isn t your ideal, small Southern town. Throughout the first section of To Kill a Mockingbird, we get glimpses of how the town bases judgement off of rumors and lies without considering others points of view. • 10. Gallipoli Film Analysis This film analysis will define the importance of mateship and sportsmanship in the ANZAC culture of Gallipoli (1981). Peter Weir film of the Gallipoli Campaign from 1915 196 revolves around the mateship of Frank Dunne (Mel Gibson) and Archy Hamilton (Mark Lee) that binds them through sportsmanship and militarynationalism. The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) culture is typically based on the athleticism of soldiering culture, which allows Frank to become a runner of information dispatches during the campaign. More so, Archy s speed is deferred because of his patriotic desire to be on the front lines of the war. However, Frank and Archy are bound by the mateship that they experience as alienated short distance runners, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mateship of Archy and Frank is based on the sportsmanship culture of Western Australia , which was a popular recruitment method for young men that joined ANZAC and, eventually, fought in the Gallipoli Campaign. Archy is a the blindly loyal nationalist that relies on his running skills to put peer pressure on Frank to join ANZAC. Frank initially declines, but the sportsmanship culture encourages a deep bond with a fellow short distance runner in the effort to maintain mateship. However, there were many different soldiers from a wide variety of backgrounds, such as lower class backgrounds, which define a different and less romantic view of sportsmanship that Weir presents in this film. In reality, man men from the lower working classes joined ANZAC as a way to avoid poverty and low wage work. Archy and Frank s relationship is a heroic and romantic view of the Gallipoli Campaign, yet it does show the horror and carnage of bloody murder of young men, such as Archy, that died in this failed attack against the Turkish Army. In this manner, the film Gallipoli provides insight into some aspects of mateship and sportsmanship between Archy and frank that was certainly valid, but it does not provide a comprehensive and realistic understanding of the multiple perspectives of class status and identity that defined enlistment in ANZAC in WWI. ... This will give the PE teacher a great understanding of his or her students skill level. Following that, the teacher will give lessons on different types of swings and throughout these lessons, the teacher can provide formative assessments to check for understanding. Figure 4 below exhibits potential medical consequences of certain periods of exposure to ionizing radiation: CONCLUSION Given the evidence, it can be concluded that while there are risks that arise with ionizing radiation in medical diagnosis, overall the benefits outweigh the risks, as doctors are able to diagnose various health concerns that would go undetected otherwise. That being said, ionizing radiation should continue to be used in medical diagnosis as they provide valuable medical procedures that can ultimately save ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Cause And Effects Of The Korean War Recently there has been a few state actors who are now threating the United States much more then they have in the past. The foremost and greatest threat to the U.S. is North Korea as it stands right now. This was confirmed by Defense Secretary James Mattis stating, North Korea s advancing missile and nuclear programs were the most urgent threat to national security and that its means to deliver them had increased in speed and scope (Ali, 2017). Over the past six months, the Korean Warpart II has been slowly starting to take shape and threat of war could be looming in the future. The Korean War, which started 67 years ago, which has technically never ended, led to the deaths of about 600,000 North Korean and 1 million South Koreans, along with hundreds of thousands of U.S. troops (Berlinger, 2017). The legacy of the brutal war lives on in North Korea, where key pieces of propaganda are still used by the regime today. The world is closely watching the tug of war between the world s super power and the lonely North Koreans, having both President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un aware of the immense cost of the another Korean War (Berlinger, 2017). Defense Secretary James Mattis stated: both the U.S. and North Korea have proved over time they can demonstrate restraint, de escalate a crisis and step back from the brink of war. Both have interest in avoiding a war, which would be in nobody s best interest. If this goes to a military solution, it is going to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) strike of August 3. 1981was a remarkable day in the history of this country. Under the direction of union president, Robert E. The FAA also suspended nearly on thousand more controllers for a short period of time. As a result of the strike, Bailey s tenure as executive director of PATCO came to an end when his position was abolished. Subsequently, John F. The union was later reinstated by Usery and it won exclusive bargaining rights election in 1972. In July and August of 1976 tensions ran high again after the Civil Service Commissioner declined to reclassified controllers to a higher salary grade. The result was that PATCO staged slowdowns for five days at the nation s busiest airports. Its tactics proved successful when on January 13, 1977, the Commission reversed itself and increased controllers wages (Northrup 170). Most institutions can adopt one or more strategic frameworks to drive faculty development by providing critical external and internal factors using STEEPLE and SWOT analysis, respectively to formulate the strategy. However, errors and potential limitations of strategic frameworks can occur, if organisations have inabilities of managerial and administrative such as lack of skill and experience to create an effective strategy (Tomlinson, 2011). According to the STEEPLE analysis framework, this framework is used to categorise and determine the factors of macro environment and external influences that may affect the performance of organisations and future activities in both the short and long term (Grant, 2008). STEEPLE is an acronym for social, technological, economic, environmental, political, legal and ethical considerations so a strategic project team needs to analyse and identify the potential impact of these composing factors such as changes, trends and movements in order to maximise efficiency of the organisation (Jones Murray, 2008). They are constantly being monitored using Telescreens, so everything done or said is recorded by Big Brother and used against them. O Brien, an inner party member, tricks Winston Smith into believing there were other people like Winston who oppose Big Brother. O Brien tells Winston that his thoughts and memories are delusions that never occurred. O Brien later explains that Big Brother controls all, including reality itself. Reality is what someone feels and experiences so it s possible that Big Brother controls reality by controlling the mind.Reality is what is perceived to be true, but what exactly is the truth when someone controls your mind. In science, reality is a theoretical notion of understanding that can never be proven. The immediate cause for the beginning of the second war was popularly considered to be the German army s invasion of Poland. As the leader of the Nazi party, one of Hitler s key goals was to be the domination of Europe, which he aimed to take by force. France and Britain had warned Germany in 1939 that invading Poland would lead to a declaration of war, so when Hitler invaded Poland in September 1939, war broke out in Europe. The intention when the plan was introduced was that all countries would join the League and thus all international disputes would be settled by negotiation as opposed to being settled by war (Breuer, 286). If this plan were to fail then the other nations would have to stop trading with the country breaking the agreement and if that failed, the other countries would be forced to then use their armies to fight. The diplomatic philosophy behind the League of Nations represented a shift in thought from the preceding century, where an agreement such as this one would be unlikely to be agreed upon. The older philosophy, coming from the Congress of Vienna, had led to the continent of Europe being a shifting map of alliances among several nation states, creating a balance of power that was maintained by aligned armies and secret treaties. Under this newly introduced philosophy, the League was to be a government of governments, with the established role of settling disputes between individual nations. Although the idea for the founding of the League came from U.S. President Wilson, the United States never joined (Breuer, 288). It has become an international conflict as it has spread outside the boundaries of those nations involved, associating other countries such as Syria, Jordan and Egypt with the contentions. Other countries have also become involved, with the aim of generating peace and stability throughout the region, but as of yet, the unrest remains. The recent conflict originally arose after world war two as a result of the UN (United Nations) allowing the division of the Palestine region into Jewish and Arab sectors because of the migration of many Jews into the region, in 1930 alone 230,000 Jews moved into this location to avoid the negative attitudes and actions that were brought about as a result of the Hitler Regime. The Palestinians believe that Israel belongs to them, and that the UN s decision is wrong, whereas the Jews believe that parts of the land belong to them because of the religiously important history related to the location, a movement known as Zionism also encouraged Jews to move to Palestine as they saw it as the natural location to create a Jewish state. I had heard a variation of this statistic many times, however I didn t truly grasp the magnitude of these numbers until I began to reflect on the effects of driving under the influence. As a potential new driver, I was concerned about the use of alcohol while driving so I began to wonder how toxins, specifically alcohol, react within our bodies. I also wondered how, or even if, this interaction could be represented through the use of mathematical analysis. In my research I discovered for myself a field known as pharmacokinetics, which is a branch of pharmacology that deals with the interactions of drugs in our bodies. In pharmacokinetics, the interaction of alcohol with the body can be visually represented using a concentration time graph, where the concentration can be graphed as a function with respect to time in hours. Isotopes and Its Uses ISOTOPES History of the term: In the bottom right corner of JJ Thomson s photographic plate are the separate impact marks for the two isotopes of neon: neon 20 and neon 22. The term isotope was coined in 1913 by Margaret Todd, a Scottish physician, during a conversation with Frederick Soddy (to whom she was distantly related by marriage).[4] Soddy, a chemist at Glasgow University, explained that it appeared from his investigations as if each position in the periodic table was occupied by multiple entities. Hence Todd made the suggestion, which Soddy adopted, that a suitable name for such an entity would be the Greek term for at the same place . Soddy s own studies were of radioactive (unstable) atoms. The first observation of different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the 80 elements that have one or more stable isotopes, the average number of stable isotopes is 257/80 = 3.2 isotopes per element. Adding neutrons to isotopes can vary their nuclear spins and nuclear shapes, causing differences in neutron capture cross sections and gamma spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance properties. Even mass number Beta decay of an even even nucleus produces an odd odd nucleus, and vice versa. An even number of protons or of neutrons are more stable (lower binding energy) because of pairing effects, so even even nuclei are much more stable than odd odd. One effect is that there are few stable odd odd nuclei, but another effect is to prevent beta decay of many even even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Experiential-Descriptive Theory Of Personality Disorders The American system for the classification of mental disorders added personality disorders to the DSM III in 1980. At this point, interest and clinical research of the disordersbegan to grow. Studies soon confirmed what many clinicians believed; personality disorders were under diagnosed and extremely common. Nearly 80% of individuals seeking mental health treatment met the criteria for at least 1 of the 10 personality disorders. In An Experiential Descriptive Method for the Diagnosis of Personality Disorders Edward E. Hunter state that The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders,Fourth Edition defines personality disorders as enduring patterns of perceiving, relating to, andthinking about the environment and oneself that are exhibited in a wide range of social and personal contexts (630) (1).Often times people with a personality disorderhave difficulty communicating. They may feel inferior or believe they will be judged and ridiculed. Hunterinsists that When these traits are inflexible and maladaptive, causing significant functional impairment or subjective distress, they constitute a disorder (1). Intensive therapy will likely be required if these patterns are to be disrupted. The disorder is defined as an enduring pattern of inner experiences and behavior that deviates markedly from expectations of the individuals culture in two of the following areas: cognition, affectivity, interpersonal function and impulsecontrol (qtd. In Hunter 1). Although all 10 personality disorders carry different symptoms, they all must fall under these guidelines to be diagnosed. It is widely believed that personality Fowler2 disorders, when severe, are untreatable; however, some forms of therapy are affective and lessen the symptoms. I have been diagnosed with a personality disorder and understand the stigma around these disorders; stigmas that need to be brought to the light. Personality disorders are the onlydisorders some clinicians refuse to treat. However, this group of people may need treatment more than any other group battling a mental illness. • 57. How Did You Call The Period Between 1860 And 1877 Nothing... As the Civil War ended, conflict, that was much less violent, arose. The matter of putting the country back together laid heavily upon the shoulders of the government. Questions of rights to power emanated. Discrimination grew steadily more powerful. This period of time was not as radical as events such as the Revolutionary War that began the country, but the many parallels to it brought it awfully close. Through questioning of the central and state governmentpower levels, heavy constitutional observation and interpretation, and morality based decision making, it is fair to call the period between 1860 and 1877 nothing short of revolutionary. The Revolutionary War was as its title states; revolutionary. The people of the colonies were disconsolate with the power that Great Britain was exhibiting over them. Similarly, the South was unhappy with the central governments right to declare the way they discriminated against the black peoples unlawful. In South Carolina s Declaration of Causes of Secession, they directly stated that the exercise of certain of their powers was restrained, which necessarily imperiled their continued existence as sovereign ... The constitution was catechized in many ways by people searching for answers to impossibly unpredictable questions. The world as many Americans knew it resolved drastically in several different ways. Though it was no Revolutionary War, the few years between 1860 and 1877 were revolutionary years for the ever growing structure of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
