Joan Of Arc Influence On Women
One can note how certain female figures have had an influence on their nation and society s
perspective of them. Women have commonly been perceived as being housewives in early history
and in the domestic sphere, however, some women have opposed that norm and made a name for
themselves. Joan of Arc is one women in history who has opposed this norm since she was a
successful military leader who helped turn the Hundred year war around for the French.
Furthermore, her bravery and determination has led her to stand out amongst the women in her
time period. Joan of Arc is one womanthat many can agree is a woman warrior due to her military
success, bravery, and determination. In 1412, the French and English were engaged in a war
known as the Hundred year... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ida Taylor once wrote Alone, and at full speed she galloped through the stone paved streets,
sparks flying from her horse s hoofs as she made her way straight towards the Burgundian Gate,
the direction in which the sounds of battle where loudest. The enter breath of the city had to be
traversed before the gate was reached (104). This line demonstrates Joan s bravery since even
though she was alone she still rode into battle. Additionally, Larissa J. Taylor writes In all these
instances, against the odds she had emerged victorious, at least until Paris. She therefore
approached the trial as she did any battle: with skill, boldness, audacity, and ruses (130). This
exemplifies how despite being on trial Joan of Arc was brave and approached her trial as if it
was a battle. Madison once stated, The whole judicial process was a succession of snares to catch
an inspecting victim, a constant violation of justice and the most established rights. Day after day
the interrogation continued, and the maiden evinced a courage in facing the learned doctors and
divines as a great as she had ever shown in battle (356). This highlights how despite being
frequently interrogated Joan was brave and resisted giving into the pressure that was put on her by
the interrogators and the unfair justice

Ordinary People Sparknotes
In the book Ordinary People by Judith Guest the person I relate with most is going to be Conrad
Jarrett. Conrad is the son of Calvin and Beth. In the story Conrad was in a boating accident with
his brother which caused his brother s death and Conrad blamed himself for his death. Then
Conrad a year later tried to commit suicide and it forced him to have to spend time in a hospital
to get better. When Conrad gets out he still feels little purpose in life and no motivation. He
starts to see Dr. Berger to help him recover from everything he has been through. My relation
with his problems isn t exactly the same but I can relate in a way. My stepdad had a car accident
and the car accident caused his death. Me and my familywere devastated when we found out. It can
really change a lot when a family member dies.
In chapter 13 Conrad gets into an argument with his mother. Beth hears from Lazenby s mother
that Conrad quit the swim team. Beth is mad because he quit and didn t tell them about it. Conrad
says that he just spends his time at the library, Conrad is getting angry and says that he would have
told them if he thought they cared. Then Conrad ends up telling Beth to go to hell. I can relate to
Conrad in this chapter because of him getting in arguments with his parents because I seem to do it
every now and then. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can relate because I do the same I wake up then I just think of everything I have to do and
whatever is on my mind. Conrad also had a passion for a sport that he liked but didn t have fun
because he didn t like his friends but he said he wanted to be better so he decided to do swim. I can
relate because I used to have a passion for basketball and I always wanted to be better but I didn t
like the people I played with but I just played through that so I could do what I loved so that s how
Conrad s situation relates to

Altruism VS The Selfish Gene Essay
Would you give a penny to the needy? How about a kidney? A heart?
The thought of spring break brings up images of partying in warm weather, drunken one night
stands, and the raging hangovers that follow; yet for Rachel Garneau, a junior at Notre Dame, it
represented an pseudo holiday opportunity for giving, and give she did. This twenty year old
gave up a kidney for a complete stranger. There was an air of psychosis to her as she walked right
into the University Of Chicago s Bernard Mitchell Hospital, calm as ever; her demeanor quite
indifferent, her nonchalance quite unnerving. Funny how we find this act of complete altruism
weird ; because it is weird, all that we know from evolution, Darwinism, basic human tendencies,
and even the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies conducted on the early developmental egalitarianism and parochialism in children show
that other regarding factors are, to some extend, exist as inherent tendencies in all humans: when
allowed to choose between how candy is distributed among an anonymous partner and themselves,
the children chose to be heavily selfless in their distribution. As Fehr et al. come to this startling
conclusion in their paper Egalitarianism in young children , we see how proper upbringing and
cultural norms are not solely responsible for our altruistic nature. We have evolved to take others
into consideration in our choices; we have evolved a heart .
The innateness of these selfless tendencies is exemplified by the close study of our primitive
ancestors. Frans de Waal, professor of psychology at Emory University, studied the habit of the
greater apes. In his work Homo homini lupus? Morality, the Social Instincts, and our Fellow
Primates , deWaal talks about the surprising altruism we see in nature. Adult chimpanzees
consolidate each other after a fight; questioning all we know about how the wild is a cutthroat
struggle for survival.
The most striking evidence was that of the lesser evolved Capuchins. In an experiment to test
altruism in the very basic human precursors, deWaal separated two Capuchian monkeys, Vulcan
and Vergil, giving one the

Navajo Code Talkers
Navajo Code Talkers
National security of every country highly depends on secrecy maintainance, especially during
wartime. Secrecy is an important element of victory. However, it is important not only to code
messages but also to break enemy codes in order to gain military advantages. During the Second
World War it was very important for the United States to send and receive codes without any risk
of being deciphered. For this reason the language of American indigenous population of the
Navajo was chosen by the U.S. Marine Corps. This paper focuses on contributions made by the
Navajo Code Talkers during the Second World War. The military enemies of the United States did
not manage to break the code. One of the reasons why the Navajo ... Show more content on

However, they were sworn to secrecy and did not share the information even with their families.
Indians were admitted to the construction of the code only after the training. The initial problem
was that the Navajo language did not contain equivalents for English military terms and phrases.
That is why it was a difficult task to transfer military terminology into the Navajo language.
However, it was recognized that the code should have been both unbreakable and simple, because
under combat conditions rapid transmission and translation of messages was of high
importance.Long phrases might appear ineffective and inefficient. The Navajos decided to choose
words that had direct association with nature, birds, and common Navajo life in order to avoid
perplexity (Townsend 2000, 146).
Generally, there were two methods of communication. According to Townsend (2000, 147), the
first method concerned a words for alphabet system. This method was used to code some terms
that could not easily be replaced with a specific word. It was ineffective to affix an Indian word
to any random Pacific island. According to the alphabet method, each letter of the English
alphabet was replaced by with an Indian word. For example, Tarawa Island was coded as turkey ant
rabbit ant weasel ant . In Navajo, this would be pronounced as Than zie, wol la chee, gah, wol lo
chee, gloe ih, wol la chee . Some English letters were represented by diverse terms in order to

Robin Budowski
Current Situation: In 2016, Robin Budowski has almost acquired ChГўteau d Agel a previously
unprofitable wine property in the South West of France. However, his dream of owning and
running a vineyard does come with its own financial and operational risks. Robin may be the best
candidate for this acquisition opportunity, but to make it worthwhile in the next 5 to 7 year time
horizon, he has to decide which winemarket he should focus his resources on, and how his wine
can be effectively distributed across Franceand exported to foreign developing markets.
The Wine Market: As of 2016, the global wine market shrunk by 7.6 percent, to generate $319,816

(See exhibit B). Craft beer, whiskey, and spirits are unfortunately stealing most customer segments,
and are experiencing strong growth. (Wine Enthusiast, 2016). All s not lost as millennials have
shown an increasing interest to taste various wine flavours from across the world. (The Fix,
2016). This gives wine producers an opportunity to invest in product innovation to capture this
younger market s interest. Today, millennials consume more costly wine than their parents do.
(The Fix, 2016). Evidently, price does not yet have a strong influence on their wine selection. In
support of this, a survey conducted by Nielsen data indicated that 17 percent of this young
demographic spends over $20 per wine bottle in one month this percentage is larger than the
boomers and generation Xers. (The Fix, 2016). In addition, female drinkers are now responsible for
56 percent of the overall wine consuming population due to their buying power. (Wine Enthusiast,
2016).
Moving on to global consumers, The CEO of Luxury Institute stated that, Consumers are
purchasing wine at higher volumes because they enjoy the restaurant and at home dining
experiences that include a great quality wine. (Luxury Daily, 2016). An implication of this
quality preference is that restaurants have seen a decrease in sales of wine priced at $8 a bottle or
lower while higher priced wine is more popular. (Cheers Online, 2016). Now, the average cost of

Rites of Passage: Laotian Culture
Here I am at the crossroads into adulthood. I stand before the threshold to adulthood ready to
sever the ties of my youth, and begin new growth on the dead tree that represents childhood. The
tree of youth that once stood tall with all of it s quirky branches and knots, now lays horizontal,
ready to give my new growth all the water and nutrients it needs to grow. (Eli Keltz) From birth to

For example after a couples first child is born, a ceremony is held to give an honorific name to the
young father. The ceremony marks the young grooms passage into full familial responsibility.
During the event the father in law is invited to give the child an honorific name which usually
means he would add one name to the son in laws original name. Occasionally the father in law
would give the young man a completely new name which is usually two or more syllables long.
Hence Laotians long first and last names on paper. But that isn t all, three days after a child is
born the family holds a sort of soul calling ceremony which is added on to the naming ceremony
also. The purpose of the ritual is to call upon the soul of the newborn towards the family to aid in
giving the child a name. Being a highly superstitious culture the belief in ghosts, spirits and
monsters is highly regarded. This relates back to the roots that are retained from ancient Buddhist
beliefs that came throughout history over time. Yet in order to call the soul of the child to the
family a pig or a chicken is ritually slaughtered, then roasted and eaten by the family thus ending
the ritual. As the child gets older there is not really any rite of passage into the adolescent stage of
life. Unlike those who have Bar mitzvahs and quincineras to signify passage into adulthood for
women and men Lao culture is more simple and everything is based on gender and again reflects

The Importance Of Cooperative Learning And Learning
Introduction Great facilitators implement effective learning by introducing and perfecting different
instructional lessons to meet the emotional, social, and academic needs of all their students.
Research into teaching practices allows educators to customize learning for every one of their
students. Today s classrooms, students work both independently and in groups to demonstrate what
they have learned. Learners now have choices over how they summarize their understanding of the
lesson material. The teacher paces the lesson based on the students understanding and needs,
providing appropriate learning experiences for different learners providing a path to reach all
learners in the most effective way. This paper will explore Cooperative Learning , Learning by
Teaching , and Flipped Classroom as just a few of the numerous ways educators can explore new
and effective forms of disseminating educational material and instruction. Teaching Practices http:/

Essay on The Controversial Issue of Job-Outsourcing
With the United States economy in a depression and our unemployment rate skyrocketing to
record highs, job outsourcing has moved to the top of the list of controversial issues. Froma
Harrop s essay New Threat to Skilled U.S. Workers and Thomas Friedman s essay 30 Little Turtles
discuss two different viewpoints of job outsourcing, and their effects on society. Does our
government really want to cut back on job outsourcing, and what can society do to help the issue?
Friedman s standpoint on job outsourcing shows how it is emotionally beneficial to other countries
and Harrop s factual standpoint shows job outsourcing regulation, however, I feel that our citizens

By adding her own knowledge and ideas, she makes the essay very complex. Continuing on in
the essay Harrop brings in another source, professor of public policy Ron Hira. She shares Hira s
research results which show that the top applicants for H 1B visas are outsourcing companies.
The companies send worker to the United States to train and work before going back home to
improve the companies they work for. Harrop continues to use quotes from Hira along with
adding her knowledge about how job outsourcing affects the wages of American workers. The
very last sentence in Harrop s essay warns future workers about the rising issue. This is a very
strategic move as a last chance to engrave the message in the reader s mind. Harrop s facts and
uses of other sources help the readers immensely as they are trying to understand the issue. This
essay was easy to understand and well written. Thomas Friedman has taken a very different
approach when trying to grab his audience s attention. 30 Little Turtles, by Thomas Friedman is
emotional essay that appeals to pathos. Friedman tries to persuade people into seeing the positive
effects of job outsourcing on the young adults of India. Friedman wants those who oppose to job
outsourcing to understand how it would be beneficial to others. He begins the essay with an in
depth description of his emotion as he read an accent neutralization poem to a group of Indian
trainees. He also says that he enjoys

Joy Luck Club Character Analysis
No one is the same everyone is a different person and while people may have similarities they are
still different people with different ideas and thoughts and outlooks on life even mothers and
daughters. Such as the daughters and mothers in the book, The Joy Luck Club. For starters, a
young girl named June and her motherSuyuan Woo were both alike in one common idea that they
had completely different views on everything even in speaking as she states, these kinds of
explanations made me feel my motherand I spoke two different languages, which we did. I talked
to her in english, she answered back in chinese. (Joy Luck, Tan,34) In saying this June tells
metaphorically that they don t speak the same language as in her mother and her never really seen
things in the same light and literally as she does not speak her mother s tongue. Even when they
relate physically the mother relays to her daughterthat she is a foreigner to her and her past as the
story goes, A friend once told me that my mother and i were alike, that we had the same wispy
hand gestures, same girlish laugh and sideways look. When I shyly told my mother this, she
seemed insulted and said, you don t even know little percent of me how can you be me. (Joy
Luck,Tan,27) This shows that while the daughter was trying to relate to the mother by telling of her
friends thoughts of their physical similarities she dismisses these and says that her own daughter
does not know her as a person. Secondly, over the

Process Essay On How To Play Golf
When you are first starting to learn how to play golf, or even if you are a seasoned golfer, you
will probably always be on the look out for golf tips. This is especially true if you have a
problem area that you would like to improve upon, or if there is just something you can t quite
seem to get right. Following are a few short tips that might help you the next time you are out on
the golfcourse.
1. Balance is quite important when it comes to playing a good round of golf, especially when you
are executing your golf swing. By keeping your knees bent, your weight will rest in the middle of
your feet, thus keeping you balanced during your golf swing.
2. Another of the useful golf tips to remember is that you should not swing your golf club at 100
percent power. If you swing at 70 percent, you will keep your balance, which gives you enough
distance for a good golf swing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you own one of the new drivers with 420 or 460 printed on the bottom, you will need to tee
your ball higher to make sure you get it on the up swing.
4. When you have a short putt to make, it works best to keep the putter in line with the hole. To get
really proficient at this, try practicing 1 foot putts.
5. In order to make a good pitch and run shot, think of hammering a tack into the ball. It will give
you a solid hit.
6. One of the useful golf tips for winter play involves putting. If you are playing when the greens
are dewy, you need to putt firm in order to make it to the hole.
7. Always remember to keep your golf grips clean so that you will have a good feel of the club.
8. When your ball lands on an un even spot, don t swing too hard, as you are off balance already.
Swinging too hard will make the situation worse.
9. For long putts, it works better to stand taller. You will have a better view of the

Montagu And Capulet In William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Once upon a time there lived in Verona two great families named Montagu and Capulet. They
were both rich, and I suppose they were as sensible, in most things, as other rich people. But in
one thing they were extremely silly. There was an old, old quarrel between the two families, and
instead of making it up like reasonable folks, they made a sort of pet of their quarrel, and would
not let it die out. So that a Montagu wouldn t speak to a Capulet if he met one in the street nor a
Capulet to a Montagu or if they did speak, it was to say rude and unpleasant things, which often
ended in a fight. And their relations and servants were just as foolish, so that street fights and
duels and uncomfortablenesses of that kind were always growing out of the Montagu and
Capulet quarrel. Now Lord Capulet, the head of that family, gave a party a grand supper and a
dance and he was so hospitable that he said anyone might come to it except (of course) the
Montagues. But there was a young Montagu named Romeo, who very much wanted to be there,
because Rosaline, the lady he loved, had been asked. This lady had never been at all kind to
him, and he had no reason to love her; but the fact was that he wanted to love somebody, and as
he hadn t seen the right lady, he was obliged to love the wrong one. So to the Capulet s grand
party he came, with his friends Mercutio and Benvolio. Old Capulet welcomed him and his two
friends very kindly and young Romeo moved about among the crowd of courtly

Eye Opening Trip To The Caribbean Essay
The Eye Opening Trip to The Caribbean It was a Sunday morning in the middle of May when
our family was on our way to the Caribbean. With that being said, we had a long 14 hour flight
ahead of us, but the sky was blue and we were all filled up with excitement as to what would
come next. I had never been in the Caribbean before and I did not know what to except. As we
sat impatiently waiting to board our plane, I started writing my diary for the trip. Because we
were going to be away for a good month or even more, I had to write a diary of my experiences
and what I learned so that I could turn it in when I got back to school. As I began writing, I
started to brainstorm of what I thought it was going to be like being in a very different culture
with people you had never seen before. As a blond, young girl, I did not know much about
different cultures as I am from a country with very little diversity. The only thing I knew was that

Bristol Myers Squibb and other pharmaceutical companies have very limited space for the
development of competitive advantage. This is due to the limitations set in patents available for
new pharmaceuticals. Most chemicals in pharmaceutical products have an equivalently functional

outcomes. This being the case, pharmaceutical companies can t rely on one particular product to

Since Bristol Myers Squibb s is organized in this way, it has been able to keep the pace very well
making it one of the largest research based pharmaceutical company in the world.
Brand Name
Bristol Myers Squibb s gains competitive parity from its brand name in that it has a good
reputation for creating products that work well and are safe. This provides value to the customer
because they know that the product was heavily researched before it was marketed to the general
public.
However, this is not rare among firms in this industry as all new products must be cleared by the
Food and Drug Administration before it can be marketed which gives consumers a certain
amount of security when choosing a product regardless of who produced it. This also means that
it is somewhat easy to imitate. Once you get past the start up costs, if you produce a product that
is not already patented and is approved by the FDA, your product is just as good as the
competitors. The reason for the lack of rarity and ease of imitability of the brand name is that, like
other pharmaceutical companies, Bristol Myers Squibb does not push the brand name but rather the
name they have assigned to their product. The company s name does not appear in any of its
product s advertisements. This being the case they must diversify their product line.

The evidence in the literature suggests that the reproductive neuroendocrine axis is centrally
regulated through inputs from kisspeptin expressing neurons to GNRH expressing neurons, which
afterward regulate the release of LH and FSH from the anterior pituitary [Aki et al., 2015].
Kisspeptin primarily participates in the regulator of the reproductive axis performed its capability
to operate upon, and evoke GNRH neurons, which have been shown to express GPR54 [d

increased relative to animals with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism [Kotani et al., 2014]. Moreover,
kisspeptin 54 concentration level in the blood of control group was significantly higher than
treatment group [Messager et al., 2005]. Further, peptide 234 suppressed the synthesis of GNRH in
both prepubertal and pubertal monkeys [Guerriero et al., 2012] and administration of peptide 234
delays the onset of puberty in rodents [Pineda et al., 2010]. Beale et al., [2014] reported that the

secretory response to intracervical vaccine immunization of kisspeptin. This cumulative evidence
indicates that the kisspeptin antagonist inhibited GNRH neuron and would reduce hypothalamus

Public Suspicion Of The Freemason Essay
Public suspicion of the Freemasonry has always been a huge issue for the organization, but in the
1820 s, tensions came to new heights. In 1826, the Anti Masonic was founded as an official third
party political platform. This came in wake of the disappearance and suspected murder of a former
Mason named William Morgan. It was said that Morgan had put together a book detailing the
secrets of Freemasonry(Britannica). Although this is only a myth, and no conclusive evidence
was ever found, it still caused a public uproar and the Anti Masonic worked hard against the
Freemasonry. They caused enough suspicion of the masons for their numbers to reach a record
low in the 1830s to 1840s (Obelisks and Freemasonry). These numbers continued to decrease until
the first World War, where they picked back up, the same being true for the second World War.
Then, during the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depressions, numbers fell dramatically once more
(Founding Fathers). During these time periods, the American people had much greater things to
worry about. People of the Great Depression were far too busy trying to make ends meet... Show

Complexity And Algorithms That Can Take An Impossible...
Complexity and Tractability
The area of tractability explores problems and algorithms that can take an impossible amount of
computation to solve. Tractable problems can be roughly defined as problems that can be solved
in a reasonable amount of time, while intractable problems are those which take too long to solve
to be useful. Finding solutions to these problems is a key problem in computer science today and
has been for many years. It is also important for a computer scientist to recognise intractable
problems as it would be a huge waste of time trying to write a program to an intractable problem.
It would be better to recognise this and take a different more suitable approach that would save
time and effort but also would come up with a valid solution. However there are advantages to
making a problem intractable though as when securing things using intractable codes which cannot
be hacked into easily. Complexity can be simply defined as a rough estimation of amount of time it
takes a particular algorithm to solve a problem. This is not only measured in time but can be
expressed as the number of steps taken in order to solve a problem. It is important to be able to
measure the complexity of a problem as this can help to indicate how good/effective an algorithm
will be and whether it is tractable or not.One of the most popular intractable problems that has been
found is the Traveling Salesman problem. This problem represents a salesman who wants to find

Too much money on something so pointless.
Pointless? Yes pointless. Do you remember why we originally went to war with Iraq? Bush told
us they had weapons of mass destruction. Do they? No. Why are we still there? I don t know...
do you? After searching Iraq for weapons and coming up empty handed George Bush decided he
did not like Sadam Hussein and the world would be much safer with out him so he attacks. He
did not even have the support of the European Union. Opposing countries included France,
Germany, Russia, Greece, Belgium and Belarus. He is now trying to make Iraq a democracy,
like the American government, which is not a bad idea at all. There is just way too much
opposition from Iraq, they obviously do not want it, let them have there dictatorship, it is not our
problem. This is a useless war now. We do have to give credit to the many countries that helped us
by sending in there own troops to Iraq. Mainly England, Italy and Poland who sent a combined total
of almost 15,000 troops to the 130,000 America sent. Unfortunately there are casualties.
Casualties include over 1000 American deaths and 7722 wounded American s in Iraq. What
about the Iraqi people? Are they cooperating? Nope, so far around 15,000 have been killed 30%
of the deaths were civilians. This is not right for Bush to do. He should not be in Iraq killing that

Chilean Revolution Strengths
There were many strengths and weaknesses of the Chilean revolution. There were negative as well
as positive changes that occurred. As a result, the Chilean revolution overall produced only a small
number of positive changes. The Chilean revolution occurred in 1973 in part from a series of
worker strikes that resulted from economic policies that drastically changed the economy. President
Allende nationalized foreign sectors of the economy, including copper mines, one of Chiles most
important exports. Chile s economy was in ruin, and its citizen were looking for a way out of the
mess that was occurring. The middle class was fed up with President Allende s policiess, and a

Baseball Is The Oldest Professional Sport

The Majors have two leagues known as the National and the American League. Each MLB year

regular season. Many teams do not play on opening day, therefore, opening day is extended a week
from the first game. In fact, former St. Louis Cardinal Ozzie Smith with Anheuser Busch started a
petition on Whitehouse.gov, stating that Opening Day should be considered an official holiday.
The regular season of major league baseball is composed of one hundred and sixty two games for
thirty teams ranging from April October. Twenty of these games is between the American and
National league called interleague play. Each of these games are a minimum of nine innings
and twenty seven outs. However, if the game was tied in the 9th inning, it continues until the
winning run comes across home plate. These games lead up to the famous All Star Home Run
Derby and the All Star Game in the second or third Tuesday in July. At the mid point of the
regular season, there is an All Star break. Besides the postseason, this break is known for the All

Beethoven Piano Sonata Analysis
Beethoven was one of the most influential composers of the late classical era. Of all the forms of
music he composed one constant during Beethoven s career were his piano sonatas, which were
composed during his early, middle, and late periods. These sonatas far exceeded those created by
composers before and are considered to be the bridge between salon musicand the concert hall for
solo pianorepertoire. The early sonatas follow the same traditions established by Mozart and
Haydn and by the end of the late period are radically different from conventional form. The late
sonatas, Op. 101, 106, 109, 110, and 111, are distinctly different from the other sonatas that came
before in their style, forms, and composition. The pieces that I have chosen are the last five
piano sonatas from Beethoven s late period. These pieces are reflective of the changes of
Beethoven s compositional style as in his older age he began to stretch the limits of the classical
style. The piano sonatas are reflective of what he was doing in all of his later works and are sort
of condensed versions that still show the same ideas. Because piano sonatas were composed
throughout his lifetime, they can be interpreted as a timeline of the changes in Beethoven s style
of composing, particularly in the late sonatas. Beethoven had never been a very rapid composer
and these five sonatas were the chief output of six years of work in the second to last decade of his
life. Beethoven s increasing deafness was a major

Israel s Invasion Of Lebanon
Israel s 1982 invasion into Lebanon brought down the phase of Lebanon s political history, which
started with the 75 56 war. The civil war made a mark of trends that has been rising since 1958.
The civil war of 1975 96 had the Lebanese front against the Lebanese s national movement, which
were a reformist coalition and the Palestinian allies. The heart of the issue in this war was the
change in political circumstances in Lebanon. The political aspect and the economy were run by
French mandates. The government split each section s part of Lebanese seats and service
positions. A Maronite Christian would hold the presidency seat. A Sunni Muslim would hold the
premiership and a Shi a Muslim would hold the speakership. By diving the positions up to the
power families it gives deep roots to Lebanon s religious groups. The agreement to share the power
was formally called the National Pact in 1943. These transformations disputed the dynamics of
power between the older ruling families and undercut the authority of the state. An uprising in
Sunni Muslim social forces brought an increased labor movement and a deprived Shi a peasantry,
which stood up against the ruling families.
The Lebanese national movement constituted the new social forces. The goals of this group were
expressed in 1975 to diminish the political monopoly, to destroy the government sections, and to
change the Lebanese state into a democratic one. This program showed the desires of the non

Big Bang Theory Or A Big Fabrication
Adair Day
AP English IV
Mrs. Britt Collins

Big Bang Theory or a Big Fabrication The concept of creation has boggled human s minds for
centuries. Human nature has an intuitive sense of longing for an answer to solve the unknown, and
creation embodies the concept of unknown. In an effort to compile reason and scientific knowledge,
an explanation of the formation of the universe was formed and is widely known as The Big Bang
Theory. The Big Bang Theory is considered, ...the leading scientific explanation for the formation
of the universe (Howell). The Big Bang Theory articulates that before this event there was
nothing; and after it there was something. This suggestion to how the universe was created was
originally born from the sighting that the surrounding galaxies are moving away from our own at
an immense speed as if they had been propelled by some force (Howell). The standard theory
states that the entire universe originated as a condensed, infinitely pressured, singularity, which
defies the laws of today s understanding of physics. It is a misconception this event occurred as an
explosion; rather it resembled more of an expansion. At one moment there was nothing in existence
and in the following, the universe expanded as a balloon would, from a sub atomic particle, to all
that it is today. This notion of how the universe was created, is nothing more than a shot into the
dark, literally, and holds no validity. At this exact moment there are roughly 100,000

Oral History In Ella Cara Deloria s Waterlily
Only so that my people may live! Ella Cara Deloria dedicated much of her life to helping outsiders
understand Native American life. Deloria was born on a Yankton Sioux Reservation on 31 January
1889. Although her father was an Episcopal missionary, Deloria still grew up learning the traditions
of the Siouxand speaking the Dakota language. Upon graduating college, she served as a health
education secretary for Indian schools and reservations. But her true passion in life was studying
and informing others on Dakota culture and life. When given the opportunity, Deloria dropped
everything to become a research assistant. This first step enabled her to ultimately become an
ethnologist and write the historical fiction novel Waterlily. Waterlily details the life of two fictional
nineteenth century Sioux characters: Blue Bird and Waterlily. Deloria s experiences enabled her to
contribute to the study of nineteenth century Dakota life through the historical novel Waterlily;
especially, the use of oral history in the creation of the novel, gender roles, and kinshipdynamics.
Much of the experiences portrayed within Waterlily come from interviews Deloria conducted, thus
it is important to examine the role of oral history in the creation of Waterlily. One of the main
criticisms of oral history is the tendency to assume, that because someone says something it
automatically contains a truth. Deloria specifically addressed this issue when she interviewed her
subjects. First, she

Choosing Unhampered Market Process
Analyse of what would happen if the steering (injection of money) would be abandoned and a
return to the unhampered market process was chosen instead.
Systems exist to maintain the society and bring prosperity, the monetary system is one and have
gone through different stages and uses in its development. Due to different needs, societies develop
at different pace so, the advantages and disadvantages of monetary system varies from one society
to another. Today, money is no more backed by commodity, not equal to gold reserves; it has only a
promissory standard. Thus no standard can effectively determine true money value as it is
constantly redefined by consumers with relative understanding of other products true values in the
market. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem is that it takes time to produce. The too much money injected in the economy is
chasing outputs of lesser values. Thus, less valuable products are produced and then kept alive in
the market with this artificial government money. The values of our commodities are now unreal
making them to cost much less than they would have in the unhampered market process.
In Finland as well as well as other western states, most people that bought apartments with
government backed loans could not have afforded it if the governments were not giving home loan
interest tax deductions. Some profit calculations in the housing market investments are based on
negative cash flow deductions and 100% deduction of the investment expenses. These types of
investments would crash if we return to the unhampered market process, as the government will
be unable to give those tax breaks or loan backups. All toxic firms that are creating ponzi schemes,
and service providers like cleaning companies ran by people who would not be in the business
without support money (startti raha) from the unemployment office will die off. There will be more
unemployed people.
Finland as a social welfare state cannot be the same in an unhampered market process because
government will not be a producer. Cheap public services like free education, cheap medical care
and social insurance like Kela would be more expensive.

What Led to the Decline of Indentured Servitude and the...
The decline of indentured servitude and the rise of chattel slavery were caused by economic
factors of the English settlers in the late 17th century. Colonists continually tried to allure laborers
to the colony. The head right system was to give the indentured servant a method of becoming
independent after a number of years of service. Colonists chiefly relied on Indentured Servitude,
in order to facilitate their need for labor. The decreasing population combined with a need for a
labor force, led colonists to believe that African slaves were the most efficient way to acquire a

Analysis Of The Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy
I have talked before about coming from a simple life. That could be a slight understatement as I
have never previously attended a ballet, and when the question, Surely, you ve all heard of
Tchaikovsky, right? was posed I struggled to recognize the name or any significance to my life. It
was not until I heard the musical number of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy that the gears of my
mind finally associated it with memory. While the first few notes of the celesta filled the room
with carefree delight, I was transported back to the cold, laminated floor of my farmhouse
bedroom. Sitting on the gaily colored rug in the middle of my six feet by seven feet small
expanse of space, I remember holding my china ballerina/music box so gently. The object itself
is about twenty inches tall. It is a beautiful ballerina in a lavender tutu with matching slippers and
a delicate crown of flowers in her hair. The ballerina is perched upon a white cylinder, almost
reminiscent of a cake topper, that is embellished with glitter and flowers and all of the pretty
works. When the key is turned, the melody flows angelically through my small room, and I feel as
if I am not longer present instead, I am swept away to a wonderous, snowy world with enchanting
dancers. My only connection to Tchaikovsky let alone The Nutcrackeris a ballerina figurine that I
left back home. I did not have a clue what to expect, but I could barely contain my excitement.

The Legal Validity Of The Federal Government
Betty Blackacre is in contract with Donald Developer to sell a tract of land to him for the
development of an industrial park. Several distinct issues have arisen concerning an EPA
regulation, the Virginia fee structure for waste facilities, and the jurisdiction of the suit brought in
NY by Donald Developer. We turn to question the legal validity of the EPA order, the
constitutionality of the waste disposal fee structure under the commerce clause, and the grounds for
which Betty s motion to dismiss the case for lack of jurisdiction stand. Betty does not believe that
the federal government should be able to tell her what she can and cannot do with her property.
Since the property has been identified as a major migratory route for at least one endangered bird
species, the EPA has the authority to regulate the use of her land under the Endangered SpeciesAct
(ESA). Under the order, if Donald were to use the land as intended, it would significantly alter the
property and the surrounding area. Such alteration of the property can be defined under section 10

Central Pacific Railroad Research Paper
The railroad was first developed in Great Britain. A man named GEORGE STEPHENSON
successfully applied the steam technology of the day and created the world s first successful
locomotive. The first engines used in the United States were purchased from the
STEPHENSON WORKS in England. Even rails were largely imported from England until the
Civil War. Americans who had visited England to see new STEAM LOCOMOTIVES were
impressed that railroads dropped the cost of shipping by carriage by 60 70%. Railroad

The Superior Parenting Style Of Parenting
The Superior Parenting Style In society, a child s character can often be a direct reflection of his or
her parents. Not the parents themselves, but rather their style of parenting is what is often seen as
wrong or sub par to other parenting styles. An example of this would be the differences between
opposite techniques utilized by Chinese and Western parents. However, neither the Chinese nor the
Western style of parentingprovides the maximum amount of happiness and structure in a child s
life. Rather a fusion of the two parenting styles designs an environment where the child has freedom
while still maintaining a level of discipline.
One common question that occurs in the world with parenting, is how do Chinese children almost
always succeed. Well the answer definitely does not lie within the stereotypical assumption of an
average Chinese child s life consisting of ping pong, karate, and casually playing the piano. In
contrast to belief, a leisurely structured childhood is the exact opposite of what most Chinese
children endure during the early stages of their life. Demanding success, Chinese parents expect
nothing but excellence from the time you exit the womb. Chinese parents enforce strict rules and
guidelines for their children to follow, and do not shy away in their punctuality whatsoever.
In contrast to the harsh parenting Chinese children receive, the Western style of parenting offers
freedom. Allowing children to chose their own path in life, Western

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Tariffs
CHALLENGES
BARRIERS RELATING TO CUSTOMS
Many companies, particularly those in the retail sector, have suggested that tariffs present the
greatest barrier to cross border e commerce. This problem does not exist within the EU, which is a
free trade area; however, when exporting to countries outside of the EU tariffs are, indeed, a major
problem. One business suggested that outside of the EU, tariffs are always the most problematic .
Tariffs raise the price of the products sold by e traders and consequently reduce their
competitiveness. Tariffs are, however, not more of a problem for e commerce than they are for
traditional trade. Therefore, in this study we have chosen not to delve deeper into the levels of the
tariffs, but instead to focus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One clear example of this is the requirement to use paper invoices and handwritten contracts. This
increases the administrative burden for companies and makes the use of various online based
services impossible. One business gave an example of a service using an internet based platform
where the delivery of goods is automatically registered in the recipient s invoicing system. It is not
possible to use this service in countries such as Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine, where the use of
paper invoices and handwritten contracts is a requirement.
Double taxation
E commerce creates revenues overseas, and there is, therefore, a risk of double taxation.
Fortunately, bilateral agreements often exist to deal with this. Despite such agreements being in
place, one business reported having problems in Norway, in this respect. The company had
established a subsidiary in Norway and sold its products online to customers from this subsidiary in

The Impact Of Gender On Organizational Work Unit Teams
The Impacts of Gender on Organizational Work Unit Teams
Nada Nafissa
Morgan State University
The influence of women in society has undergone a paradigm shift in America over the last
century. Indeed, women have gone from being solely relegated to the roles of mother and
housewife to legislators and CEOs, from not having the basic right to vote to being elected officials,
Supreme Court Justices and frontrunners for the office of President of the United States. But while
the power of women in society has grown exponentially during this time, American society remains
largely bureaucratic and male dominated in many ways. Gender differences remain part of the
American landscape, and throughout the world. While America can be viewed as setting the bar
for women s rights on a global scale, gender inequity remains part of the fabric of our society. This
multi disciplinary study will concentrate on the identification of the impacts of gender on
organizations and organizational work unit teams, an ever increasingly important dimension in
organizations. It is expected that findings will include increased productivity of heterogeneous
teams across disciplines.
Keywords: gender, diversity, performance, efficiency, teams, organization

How I Started Playing Baseball Essay
Narrative essay
I started playing baseball in my high school year. As a matter a fact, I struggled in my high
school baseball team because my teammates, who already had been playing baseball since they
were in kindergarten or elementary school, were better than I. However, in the middle way of
junior year, I made the varsity baseball team. I was glad and quite honored that I made the varsity
team. However, my happiness would soon be depleted. Although I was on the team, I spent
most of my time on the bench. I tried to find a baseball technique that I could take advantage
over other players. When I tried to find some skill frantically, I found out that bunting is one of
my key factors to be a starting member. I practiced bunting all day long even if people told me
that bunting is a drab and an unattractive strategy. Although I spent most of the varsity game on
the bench, there were few times I had to go up for bunting. Eventually, I successfully laid a bunt
most of the time. At the end of junior year, I was a starting member of the varsity team. After I
got myself to be a starting member, I stopped practicing bunting because I enjoyed hitting base hit
and home run. However, in the final game of my high school year, it paid me a prize.
In my senior year, it had been the unbelievable season for me, my team and I went into a CIF
final. My teammates and I were cheered and excited to be in the final. Besides, my high school
stats were pretty decent. I had confidence with my stats

need to be able to process the information, we need to concentrate and we also need to pay a lot
of attention, we can t be distracted while reading. We all have to decide if we read for pleasure
or because we are forced to. If we read for pleasure, we will sure get a reward, a personal one; by
reading a book for pleasure, we can create our own images based on the words. The story is quite
different regarding rewards in a game. You can also get a reward after accomplish your tasks.
Real life is also full of rewards, which is one of the reasons why there are so many forms of

There is more flexibility for manipulation of the accounting figures. The authors also points out that
this flexibility for manipulation should not be underestimated citing past loans and goodwill
policies crisis.
The article also finds after discussing the arguments for and against Historical Cost Accounting that
is could not be a good replacement for FVA and HCA has problems more severe than the problems
with FVA.
The article concludes that the debate about FVA is full of arguments that do not hold up to further
scrutiny and need more economic analysis. The authors concludes that in their view, it is better to
design prudential regulation that accepts FVA as a starting point but sets explicit counter cyclical
capital requirements.
The article concludes that trade off between transparency and financial stability as well as the
interactions between accounting and prudential regulations needs further analysis and suggest areas
for further research which includes whether FVA did in fact contribute to the financial crisis
through contagion effects, and the interactions between FVA and other important elements of the
institutional framework.
The articles also suggests the study should be done to find out the what role HCA may have
played for the banking crisis and the role of, off balance sheet vehicles and retained positions

Australian Football Field Decision-Making Analysis
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION
1.1Introduction
Australian Football is a unique invasion game comprised of two teams of 22 players per side (36
afield), utilizing many skills (*****back and afl). The combination and display of long kicking,
high marking, tackling and nonstop action make it Australia s number one spectator sport (****
ref) and separate it from other football sporting codes. The overall aim of the game is to kick a ball
between goal posts positioned at the opposition team s end of the field to score a goal worth 6
points and the ball can be moved in any direction by hand (handball) and by foot (kick).

1.3.3 Kick Side
The execution of a kick on a players preferred or non preferred foot is likely to alter the kick
technique and pattern (ball 2011 ref*************). A kick performed on the non preferred foot
is typically less coordinated than that of a preferred foot kick (ball 2011), and is likely to travel a
shorter distance and miss the target.
1.3.4 Kick Source
Kick Source is the method in which a player comes in possession of the ball before performing a
kick. These include, but are not limited to marking the ball, receiving the ball via a handball from
either a team in general play or after a mark and a ground ball. Kick source is likely to have an
impact on accuracy of the resulting kick as it can often be an indication of the scenario and the
pressure being applied. For example a player executing a kick as a result of a stoppage is likely to
be under pressure due to congestion of opposition players in the immediate area.

Social Unrest In Russia
3. Use source F and your own knowledge to explain why there was social unrest in Russia between
1890 and 1914.
Extremely unbalanced economy, uneven distribution of wealth and power between social classes
alongside political repression and military defeat were all contributing factors to the social unrest in
Russia. Social classes played an important role since the Tsar only satisfied the Upper Class
resulting in a lavish lifestyle for them meanwhile 87.5% lived in extreme poverty. The contrast
between classes and the different standards of living is what truly catalysed the social unrest. In
1902 bad harvests and economic slumps meant starvation was a battle that peasants had to face

  • 2. Joan Of Arc Influence On Women One can note how certain female figures have had an influence on their nation and society s perspective of them. Women have commonly been perceived as being housewives in early history and in the domestic sphere, however, some women have opposed that norm and made a name for themselves. Joan of Arc is one women in history who has opposed this norm since she was a successful military leader who helped turn the Hundred year war around for the French. Furthermore, her bravery and determination has led her to stand out amongst the women in her time period. Joan of Arc is one womanthat many can agree is a woman warrior due to her military success, bravery, and determination. Ida Taylor once wrote Alone, and at full speed she galloped through the stone paved streets, sparks flying from her horse s hoofs as she made her way straight towards the Burgundian Gate, the direction in which the sounds of battle where loudest. The enter breath of the city had to be traversed before the gate was reached (104). This line demonstrates Joan s bravery since even though she was alone she still rode into battle. Additionally, Larissa J. Taylor writes In all these instances, against the odds she had emerged victorious, at least until Paris. She therefore approached the trial as she did any battle: with skill, boldness, audacity, and ruses (130). This exemplifies how despite being on trial Joan of Arc was brave and approached her trial as if it was a battle. Madison once stated, The whole judicial process was a succession of snares to catch an inspecting victim, a constant violation of justice and the most established rights. Day after day the interrogation continued, and the maiden evinced a courage in facing the learned doctors and divines as a great as she had ever shown in battle (356). This highlights how despite being frequently interrogated Joan was brave and resisted giving into the pressure that was put on her by the interrogators and the unfair justice ... • 3. Ordinary People Sparknotes In the book Ordinary People by Judith Guest the person I relate with most is going to be Conrad Jarrett. Conrad is the son of Calvin and Beth. In the story Conrad was in a boating accident with his brother which caused his brother s death and Conrad blamed himself for his death. Then Conrad a year later tried to commit suicide and it forced him to have to spend time in a hospital to get better. When Conrad gets out he still feels little purpose in life and no motivation. He starts to see Dr. Berger to help him recover from everything he has been through. My relation with his problems isn t exactly the same but I can relate in a way. My stepdad had a car accident and the car accident caused his death. Me and my familywere devastated when we found out. It can really change a lot when a family member dies. In chapter 13 Conrad gets into an argument with his mother. Beth hears from Lazenby s mother that Conrad quit the swim team. Beth is mad because he quit and didn t tell them about it. Conrad says that he just spends his time at the library, Conrad is getting angry and says that he would have told them if he thought they cared. Then Conrad ends up telling Beth to go to hell. • 4. Altruism VS The Selfish Gene Essay Would you give a penny to the needy? How about a kidney? A heart? The thought of spring break brings up images of partying in warm weather, drunken one night stands, and the raging hangovers that follow; yet for Rachel Garneau, a junior at Notre Dame, it represented an pseudo holiday opportunity for giving, and give she did. This twenty year old gave up a kidney for a complete stranger. There was an air of psychosis to her as she walked right into the University Of Chicago s Bernard Mitchell Hospital, calm as ever; her demeanor quite indifferent, her nonchalance quite unnerving. Studies conducted on the early developmental egalitarianism and parochialism in children show that other regarding factors are, to some extend, exist as inherent tendencies in all humans: when allowed to choose between how candy is distributed among an anonymous partner and themselves, the children chose to be heavily selfless in their distribution. As Fehr et al. come to this startling conclusion in their paper Egalitarianism in young children , we see how proper upbringing and cultural norms are not solely responsible for our altruistic nature. We have evolved to take others into consideration in our choices; we have evolved a heart . The innateness of these selfless tendencies is exemplified by the close study of our primitive ancestors. Frans de Waal, professor of psychology at Emory University, studied the habit of the greater apes. In his work Homo homini lupus? Morality, the Social Instincts, and our Fellow Primates , deWaal talks about the surprising altruism we see in nature. Adult chimpanzees consolidate each other after a fight; questioning all we know about how the wild is a cutthroat struggle for survival. The most striking evidence was that of the lesser evolved Capuchins. In an experiment to test altruism in the very basic human precursors, deWaal separated two Capuchian monkeys, Vulcan and Vergil, giving one the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it is important not only to code messages but also to break enemy codes in order to gain military advantages. During the Second World War it was very important for the United States to send and receive codes without any risk of being deciphered. For this reason the language of American indigenous population of the Navajo was chosen by the U.S. Marine Corps. This paper focuses on contributions made by the Navajo Code Talkers during the Second World War. The military enemies of the United States did not manage to break the code. Indians were admitted to the construction of the code only after the training. The initial problem was that the Navajo language did not contain equivalents for English military terms and phrases. That is why it was a difficult task to transfer military terminology into the Navajo language. However, it was recognized that the code should have been both unbreakable and simple, because under combat conditions rapid transmission and translation of messages was of high importance.Long phrases might appear ineffective and inefficient. The Navajos decided to choose words that had direct association with nature, birds, and common Navajo life in order to avoid perplexity (Townsend 2000, 146). Generally, there were two methods of communication. According to Townsend (2000, 147), the first method concerned a words for alphabet system. This method was used to code some terms that could not easily be replaced with a specific word. It was ineffective to affix an Indian word to any random Pacific island. According to the alphabet method, each letter of the English alphabet was replaced by with an Indian word. For example, Tarawa Island was coded as turkey ant rabbit ant weasel ant . The ceremony marks the young grooms passage into full familial responsibility. During the event the father in law is invited to give the child an honorific name which usually means he would add one name to the son in laws original name. Occasionally the father in law would give the young man a completely new name which is usually two or more syllables long. Hence Laotians long first and last names on paper. But that isn t all, three days after a child is born the family holds a sort of soul calling ceremony which is added on to the naming ceremony also. The purpose of the ritual is to call upon the soul of the newborn towards the family to aid in giving the child a name. Being a highly superstitious culture the belief in ghosts, spirits and monsters is highly regarded. This relates back to the roots that are retained from ancient Buddhist beliefs that came throughout history over time. Yet in order to call the soul of the child to the family a pig or a chicken is ritually slaughtered, then roasted and eaten by the family thus ending the ritual. They were both rich, and I suppose they were as sensible, in most things, as other rich people. But in one thing they were extremely silly. There was an old, old quarrel between the two families, and instead of making it up like reasonable folks, they made a sort of pet of their quarrel, and would not let it die out. So that a Montagu wouldn t speak to a Capulet if he met one in the street nor a Capulet to a Montagu or if they did speak, it was to say rude and unpleasant things, which often ended in a fight. And their relations and servants were just as foolish, so that street fights and duels and uncomfortablenesses of that kind were always growing out of the Montagu and Capulet quarrel. Now Lord Capulet, the head of that family, gave a party a grand supper and a dance and he was so hospitable that he said anyone might come to it except (of course) the Montagues. But there was a young Montagu named Romeo, who very much wanted to be there, because Rosaline, the lady he loved, had been asked. This lady had never been at all kind to him, and he had no reason to love her; but the fact was that he wanted to love somebody, and as he hadn t seen the right lady, he was obliged to love the wrong one. This provides value to the customer because they know that the product was heavily researched before it was marketed to the general public. However, this is not rare among firms in this industry as all new products must be cleared by the Food and Drug Administration before it can be marketed which gives consumers a certain amount of security when choosing a product regardless of who produced it. Once you get past the start up costs, if you produce a product that is not already patented and is approved by the FDA, your product is just as good as the competitors. The reason for the lack of rarity and ease of imitability of the brand name is that, like other pharmaceutical companies, Bristol Myers Squibb does not push the brand name but rather the name they have assigned to their product. The evidence in the literature suggests that the reproductive neuroendocrine axis is centrally regulated through inputs from kisspeptin expressing neurons to GNRH expressing neurons, which afterward regulate the release of LH and FSH from the anterior pituitary [Aki et al., 2015]. Kisspeptin primarily participates in the regulator of the reproductive axis performed its capability to operate upon, and evoke GNRH neurons, which have been shown to express GPR54 [d Anglemont and Colledge, 2010]. Moreover, kisspeptin 54 concentration level in the blood of control group was significantly higher than treatment group [Messager et al., 2005]. Further, peptide 234 suppressed the synthesis of GNRH in both prepubertal and pubertal monkeys [Guerriero et al., 2012] and administration of peptide 234 delays the onset of puberty in rodents [Pineda et al., 2010]. Beale et al., [2014] reported that the maintenance of ARC kisspeptin concentration is crucial for normal LH pulsatile release and estrous cycle and decrease the LH pulse frequency. Administration of kisspeptin antagonist reduced LH secretory response to intracervical vaccine immunization of kisspeptin. This cumulative evidence indicates that the kisspeptin antagonist inhibited GNRH neuron and would reduce hypothalamus GNRH secretion in vivo. • 20. Public Suspicion Of The Freemason Essay Public suspicion of the Freemasonry has always been a huge issue for the organization, but in the 1820 s, tensions came to new heights. In 1826, the Anti Masonic was founded as an official third party political platform. This came in wake of the disappearance and suspected murder of a former Mason named William Morgan. It was said that Morgan had put together a book detailing the secrets of Freemasonry(Britannica). Although this is only a myth, and no conclusive evidence was ever found, it still caused a public uproar and the Anti Masonic worked hard against the Freemasonry. They caused enough suspicion of the masons for their numbers to reach a record low in the 1830s to 1840s (Obelisks and Freemasonry). These numbers continued to decrease until the first World War, where they picked back up, the same being true for the second World War. Then, during the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depressions, numbers fell dramatically once more (Founding Fathers). During these time periods, the American people had much greater things to worry about. People of the Great Depression were far too busy trying to make ends meet... • 21. Complexity And Algorithms That Can Take An Impossible... Complexity and Tractability The area of tractability explores problems and algorithms that can take an impossible amount of computation to solve. Tractable problems can be roughly defined as problems that can be solved in a reasonable amount of time, while intractable problems are those which take too long to solve to be useful. Finding solutions to these problems is a key problem in computer science today and has been for many years. It is also important for a computer scientist to recognise intractable problems as it would be a huge waste of time trying to write a program to an intractable problem. It would be better to recognise this and take a different more suitable approach that would save time and effort but also would come up with a valid solution. However there are advantages to making a problem intractable though as when securing things using intractable codes which cannot be hacked into easily. Complexity can be simply defined as a rough estimation of amount of time it takes a particular algorithm to solve a problem. This is not only measured in time but can be expressed as the number of steps taken in order to solve a problem. It is important to be able to measure the complexity of a problem as this can help to indicate how good/effective an algorithm will be and whether it is tractable or not.One of the most popular intractable problems that has been found is the Traveling Salesman problem. This problem represents a salesman who wants to find the shortest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Beethoven Piano Sonata Analysis Beethoven was one of the most influential composers of the late classical era. Of all the forms of music he composed one constant during Beethoven s career were his piano sonatas, which were composed during his early, middle, and late periods. These sonatas far exceeded those created by composers before and are considered to be the bridge between salon musicand the concert hall for solo pianorepertoire. The early sonatas follow the same traditions established by Mozart and Haydn and by the end of the late period are radically different from conventional form. The late sonatas, Op. 101, 106, 109, 110, and 111, are distinctly different from the other sonatas that came before in their style, forms, and composition. The pieces that I have chosen are the last five piano sonatas from Beethoven s late period. These pieces are reflective of the changes of Beethoven s compositional style as in his older age he began to stretch the limits of the classical style. The piano sonatas are reflective of what he was doing in all of his later works and are sort of condensed versions that still show the same ideas. Because piano sonatas were composed throughout his lifetime, they can be interpreted as a timeline of the changes in Beethoven s style of composing, particularly in the late sonatas. Beethoven had never been a very rapid composer and these five sonatas were the chief output of six years of work in the second to last decade of his life. The civil war made a mark of trends that has been rising since 1958. The civil war of 1975 96 had the Lebanese front against the Lebanese s national movement, which were a reformist coalition and the Palestinian allies. The heart of the issue in this war was the change in political circumstances in Lebanon. The political aspect and the economy were run by French mandates. A Sunni Muslim would hold the premiership and a Shi a Muslim would hold the speakership. By diving the positions up to the power families it gives deep roots to Lebanon s religious groups. Big Bang Theory Or A Big Fabrication Adair Day AP English IV Mrs. Britt Collins 14 March 2016 Big Bang Theory or a Big Fabrication The concept of creation has boggled human s minds for centuries. Human nature has an intuitive sense of longing for an answer to solve the unknown, and creation embodies the concept of unknown. In an effort to compile reason and scientific knowledge, an explanation of the formation of the universe was formed and is widely known as The Big Bang Theory. The Big Bang Theory is considered, ...the leading scientific explanation for the formation of the universe (Howell). The Big Bang Theory articulates that before this event there was nothing; and after it there was something. This suggestion to how the universe was created was originally born from the sighting that the surrounding galaxies are moving away from our own at an immense speed as if they had been propelled by some force (Howell). The standard theory states that the entire universe originated as a condensed, infinitely pressured, singularity, which defies the laws of today s understanding of physics. It is a misconception this event occurred as an explosion; rather it resembled more of an expansion. At one moment there was nothing in existence and in the following, the universe expanded as a balloon would, from a sub atomic particle, to all that it is today. This notion of how the universe was created, is nothing more than a shot into the dark, literally, and holds no validity. At this exact moment there are roughly 100,000 ... Upon graduating college, she served as a health education secretary for Indian schools and reservations. But her true passion in life was studying and informing others on Dakota culture and life. This first step enabled her to ultimately become an ethnologist and write the historical fiction novel Waterlily. Waterlily details the life of two fictional nineteenth century Sioux characters: Blue Bird and Waterlily. Deloria s experiences enabled her to contribute to the study of nineteenth century Dakota life through the historical novel Waterlily; especially, the use of oral history in the creation of the novel, gender roles, and kinshipdynamics. Much of the experiences portrayed within Waterlily come from interviews Deloria conducted, thus it is important to examine the role of oral history in the creation of Waterlily. Several distinct issues have arisen concerning an EPA regulation, the Virginia fee structure for waste facilities, and the jurisdiction of the suit brought in NY by Donald Developer. We turn to question the legal validity of the EPA order, the constitutionality of the waste disposal fee structure under the commerce clause, and the grounds for which Betty s motion to dismiss the case for lack of jurisdiction stand. • 42. The Superior Parenting Style Of Parenting The Superior Parenting Style In society, a child s character can often be a direct reflection of his or her parents. Not the parents themselves, but rather their style of parenting is what is often seen as wrong or sub par to other parenting styles. An example of this would be the differences between opposite techniques utilized by Chinese and Western parents. However, neither the Chinese nor the Western style of parentingprovides the maximum amount of happiness and structure in a child s life. Rather a fusion of the two parenting styles designs an environment where the child has freedom while still maintaining a level of discipline. One common question that occurs in the world with parenting, is how do Chinese children almost always succeed. Well the answer definitely does not lie within the stereotypical assumption of an average Chinese child s life consisting of ping pong, karate, and casually playing the piano. In contrast to belief, a leisurely structured childhood is the exact opposite of what most Chinese children endure during the early stages of their life. Demanding success, Chinese parents expect nothing but excellence from the time you exit the womb. Chinese parents enforce strict rules and guidelines for their children to follow, and do not shy away in their punctuality whatsoever. In contrast to the harsh parenting Chinese children receive, the Western style of parenting offers freedom. Allowing children to chose their own path in life, Western ... • 46. The Impact Of Gender On Organizational Work Unit Teams The Impacts of Gender on Organizational Work Unit Teams Nada Nafissa Morgan State University The influence of women in society has undergone a paradigm shift in America over the last century. Indeed, women have gone from being solely relegated to the roles of mother and housewife to legislators and CEOs, from not having the basic right to vote to being elected officials, Supreme Court Justices and frontrunners for the office of President of the United States. But while the power of women in society has grown exponentially during this time, American society remains largely bureaucratic and male dominated in many ways. Gender differences remain part of the American landscape, and throughout the world. While America can be viewed as setting the bar for women s rights on a global scale, gender inequity remains part of the fabric of our society. This multi disciplinary study will concentrate on the identification of the impacts of gender on organizations and organizational work unit teams, an ever increasingly important dimension in organizations. It is expected that findings will include increased productivity of heterogeneous teams across disciplines.
