A Brief Biography Of Laura Ingalls Wilder
Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote many books that we are familiar with today; in particular, the Little House
series. Even before Laura Ingalls Wilder had the fame of the books, which were not published until
later in her life, she would write short nonfiction pieces for newspapers and magazines (Hines). Laura
Ingalls Wilder started first as a teacher, fell in love with and married Almanzo Wilder which caused
her to quit teaching, and subsequently had two children a daughter named Rose and a son who died
soon after his birth. Although Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote many books which are what gained her
lasting success; she also wrote essays about her outlook on life as well as politics during WWI. Rose,
her daughter, grew up and like her mother eventually began to write for a newspaper. She encouraged
her mother to write about her childhood. The original story Ms. Wilder wrote was very different than
the one we are familiar with today. Originally called, Pioneer Girl, it was a first person account
covering her life from about the time she was three until the age of eighteen, and began with the words
Once upon a time... (Mumford). The publishers kept on rejecting it, but Laura never gave up (Hines).

She overcame every odd, so that she could tell her story and let others know her truthful opinion on
the matter at hand. She never gave up and therefore published her famous book series The Little
House on the Prairie. She once said, I did not realize I was writing history. (Laura). Nevertheless that
is exactly what her writings have done, they have captured the essence of the pioneer way of life that
those of us today can only imagine about. Her characters have remain well loved and enjoyed for
many generations, and will likely be so for the foreseeable future. Even though she faced many trials
in her lifetime, she was able to share them in her writings that reflect her attitude of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of E4clicks
1.0 History/Origin
Introduction:
In the current manufacturing environment, estimating can affects the economic condition of a
business. It is the basis of your profit or loss. Estimates that are huge, produce no work, because we
are underbid and hence would not gain those potential orders or sales. We may win underbid jobs, but
they do not produce the efficiency profit from which we can successfully involve a business.
Employers and engineers find it easier to justify purchase of equipment and software used on the floor
rather than estimating software. Obtaining the correct quantity of sheets, bars, or castings is necessary.

Sensitive Periods During The Caterpillar Of The Prosthesis...
SENSITIVE PERIODS
Introduction:
Sensitive periods is a term developed by the Dutch geneticist Hugo de Vries and later used by the
Italian educator Maria Montessori.
Montessori cites DeVries example of a Sensitive Period in the caterpillar of the Prosthesis butterfly.
The caterpillar must feed on very tender leaves, and yet the butterfly lays its eggs in the most hidden
fork of the branch, near the trunk of the tree. Who will show the little caterpillars hidden there, the
moment they leave the egg, that the tender leaves they need are to be found at the extreme tip of the
branch, in the light? Now the caterpillar is strongly sensible to light; light attracts it, summons it as by
an irresistible voice, fascinates it, and the caterpillar goes wriggling towards where the light is
brightest, till it reaches the tip of the branch, and thus finds itself, famished for food, among the
budding leaves that can give it nourishment. It is a strange fact that when the caterpillar has passed
through its first stage and is full grown, it can eat other food, and then loses its sensibility to light. This
has been proved in scientific laboratories where there are neither trees nor leaves but only the
caterpillar and the light.
According to Montessori sensitive periods, refers to several overlapping periods of development
where a child is sensitive to a particular stimuli or type of interaction. A child passes through special
times in his life when he easily incorporates a particular

In the documentary, A Pleasure Unwoven, Dr. McCauley explains that until over a hundred years ago
doctors would usually try and treat the symptoms of a disease with poor outcomes and that most
diabetics died in early childhood (2009). It was not until the famous work of Louis Pasteur and Robert
Koch that doctors formulated what is known as the disease model (Lynch amp; Henifin, 1998). The
disease model is a causal model and works as follows:
Cause
Defect
Symptoms
By using this model we can see that if the organ was the pancreas, the defect Islet cell death (no
insulin), and the symptoms were elevated blood glucose, blurred vision, and coma, treating the
symptoms would get you nowhere. If, however, doctors were to treat the defect (no insulin) by using
insulin replacement therapy then the symptoms would recede and the disease would enter remission.
For many years doctors did not understand how to put addiction into this model and so left the

William Shakespeare Mentorship Essay
Shakespeare: A Question of Authorship
For centuries scholars have been examining the question whether William Shakespeare wrote all the
work that has been credited to him. In his short 52 years of life, he is said to have authored 154
sonnets, two epic poems, and 38 five act plays. Following the death of Shakespeare, many scholars
began researching information that may have proven why Shakespeare could not have been the
primary author or the author at all for many of these works. Four theories as to why Shakespeare could
not have written all the work that has been credited to him include: his limited education as an
individual of common birth; the shear difficulty and near impossibility for one individual to write so
many varied pieces, not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some believe that Queen Elizabeth I, wrote works attributed to Shakespeare because she devoted
herself to the study of the classical period and enjoyed theatrics. According to Sir Roger Naunton,
Queen Elizabeth translated one of the tragedies of Euripides from Greek to English for her own
amusement (Brown). Queen Elizabeth would be a good candidate because she had the best schooling,
understand royal court life, and a lot of theater as well as translation. During her time it was unlikely
to have a woman writer and Elizabeth actually did write other literary poems found in her possession (

Wou Wound Healing Essay
Introduction The skin, the most important organ in the human body has many vital functions
including: sensation, thermoregulation, protection and synthesis of vitamin D. Routinely and
consistent assessment and monitoring of the patients skin condition is one of the most important duty
we have as nurses. This is very important because any change in the condition of the skin may often
be an indication of underlying disease Injury of either the epidermis or the dermis can result in
systemic infection, increased morbidity, increased cost of care, and negative psychosocial
consequences (Schindler, Kuhn, Christopher, Conway, Ridling Simpson; 2011). Wound healing is a
very complex process. Wound healing has three phases: the inflammatory phase, the proliferative
phase, and the maturational or remodeling phase. These phases might overlap at times (Porth, 2011).
Inflammatory Phase The inflammatory phase starts at the time of injury with the formation of a blood
clot and the migration of phagocytic white blood cells into the wound site. The first cells to arrive, the
neutrophils, ingest and remove bacteria and cellular debris. After twenty four hours, the neutrophils
are joined by macrophages that continue to ingest cellular debris and play an important role in the
production of growth factors for the proliferative phase (Porth, 2011).
Proliferative Phase The proliferative phase typically follows and overlaps with the inflammatory
phase,

Animal Experimentation And The Medical Field
Every year in high school, the discussion about animal experimentation would be brought up either in
a Science or English class. The discussions would last about three quarters of a period, and they would
go nowhere because nobody could agree whether it was a good or bad thing to do. I would always be
in the middle of the debate because, I believed that it was a good thing. I am for animal
experimentation because it has revolutionized the medical field, regulates the overpopulation of
certain animal species in the environment, and follows a certain set of laws set by the Animal Welfare
Act. The first reason I support animal experimentation is because it has revolutionized the medical
field. For thousands of years there have been reports of animal experimentation throughout the courses
of history. Ancient Greek philosophers such as Aristotle (384 322 B.C.E.) observed and manipulated
numerous animals, establishing that mammals in particular resembled humans to the extent that they
could act as stand ins. (Bruce Jennings) As Bruce Jennings described, animal experimentation has
been around since the great historians. Also, one hundred years after Aristotle made the discovery that
the human and animal anatomy were similar, a physician made a miraculous discovery. The Roman
physician Galen (199 129 B.C.E.)...tied off the utters from a cow to show they channeled urine from
the kidneys to the bladder, and he cut the spinal cord in different places to demonstrate the
connections

The Pros and Cons of Object Orineted Programming and...
Object oriented programming vs. procedural programming the pros and cons Computer programming
as we know is an important engineering task in modern world where a maximum number of electronic
equipment are based on microcontrollers and microprocessors. The cost of microprocessors and
controllers have gone so low that the cost of entire electronic circuit which used to be sky high in
1970s and 80s, has now gone to down drastically. Even the simple microcontrollers we use today are
able to perform complex arithmetic tasks along with several other tasks such as on chip network
interface, wireless interface, etc. In order to utilize all the functions of a given processor, one must
know the important programing procedures available today. In ... Show more content on

Now, we will look into what Object Oriented Programming is. Before that we must first understand
what an object is, because that is what the entire programming method is based on. An object is
something which has a defined state and characteristics of its own. This concept was taken from the
real world scenario, where each object we see has those two states. An example would be a cup, it has
a height, it has a purpose and it has a specific volume which it can hold. The shape of the cup can also
be taken into consideration. In software programming, the object is worked upon by use of methods.
The methods are what help two or multiple objects communicate with each other ( Object Oriented
Programming ). Thus we can now say, Object oriented programming works on objects instead of
working directly on the actions as in case of Procedural programming. Although, indirectly we are
working on their actions because that is what makes the entire program work. Objects once defined
can be used infinite times in a program and we do not have to define them. Thus, object oriented
programming focusses more on getting the logic of the program right instead of spending several lines
of code trying to get the data definitions right. The most commonly used Object oriented
programming languages are Java, C#, PHP and Visual basic designed for .NET framework. An
example of PHP object oriented programming would help us understand the actual programming

The Person Who Taught Me How To Read
I ve been reading as long as I can remember. The person who taught me how to read was my mother, I
remember her making sure I knew how to read and write my name before I started preschool. After
that point, I would read anything I could get my hands on that was my level. I also wrote, but not as
much as I read. Magazines, the backs of cereal boxes, even the little books my mom would buy me. I
remember my mom telling me stop writing in your books, you ll ruin them, after that, I made sure to
keep a pencil and paper with me in case I felt like I wanted to write.
In addition to reading and writing in my books, I would sit with my sister after she had checked out
her books from the library at the school she attended. I d wait until she finished, and then get her
books and read as much as I could. The books she had checked that I had been really fond of would
have to be the Clifford the Big Red Dog and Junie B Jones series. She didn t really like to read so she
would get small books and let me read them. After I had read her books, I would read other things
around the house,I also liked to read the Sunday comics. It was around that time I discovered how
much I liked to read. I read so much that by the time I had reached second or third grade, I didn t have
a reading level. I would just go into the library and get any book I wanted.
Although I loved small books, I would try to check out the largest books I could find because they had
the most AR points. I would try to pick

omnibuses, vans, sandwich men shuffling and singing; brass bands, barrel organs;
in the triumph and the jingle and the strange high singing of some aeroplane
overhead was what she loved; life; London; this moment of June. (5)
These words serve as a synoptic account both of the novel s own aesthetic
project (a heightened account of this moment, or day, of June) and of
Clarissa s own characteristic meaning making flânerie (the continual creation of
every moment afresh ). Each of the two sentences is built on a syntactic
pattern which creates a gentle suspense through preterition, the delaying of the
concluding verbal component nearly to the point of exhaustion or incoherence.
The musically lulling effect of the sentences alliteration
(doorsteps/drink/downfall; love/life; tramp/trudge; shuffling/singing; brass
bands/barrel; loved/life/London) lends a subtle cohesiveness to what otherwise
threatens to become a random list of mutually alienated scraps of urban
perception. The suspense and fulfillment effect of this preterition is the
principle which gives the novel its overall architecture (Clarissa s party waits
at the end of this June day like the verbal fastener at the end of a clause)

The Psychological Effects of War Exposed in The Sniper by...
The Psychological Effects of War Exposed in The Sniper, by Liam O Flaherty War can destroy a man
both in body and mind for the rest of his life. In The Sniper, Liam O Flaherty suggests the horror of
war not only by presenting its physical dangers, but also by showing its psychological effects. We are
left to wonder which has the longer lasting effect the visible physical scars or the ones on the inside?
In this story the author shows how location plays a big part in how physically dangerous a war is.
Gunshots heard throughout the city are a sign of how close the fighting between the Republicans and
Free Staters... is to innocent citizens (this is most often the case in civil war). The sniper s positioning

The sniper brushes with death again when he throws his revolver down without thinking and it goes
off. Bullets make a war very deadly, as they are much more precise than earlier and much simpler
weapons (such as swords and muskets). The psychological effects of war bring on a very different
aspect of horror. The sniper becomes quite fanatical about his job in the war. He gets very excited over
the thrill of the kill, turning his job into a game. His hand trembled with eagerness as he was trying to
shoot the enemy sniper, showing the intense excitement he felt. He has such a lust for battle that he
even stops eating! The sniper also begins to see all others as the enemy the woman in the shawl, an
innocent citizen, is seen as an enemy to him because she tipped off the tank commander (which she
probably did for her own safety). War has psychologically changed the sniper to refer to all others not
on his side as the enemy. The sniper develops insensitivity to death during the war. When he kills the
old woman, she s trying to run away and isn t really a threat. He even utters a cry of joy when he
finally shoots the enemy sniper. This shows how war can get people caught up in the cat and mouse
game aspect of it and forget what they re actually doing killing people. People get so caught up in the
game that they don t think about the repercussions for their actions. War is dangerous; however it does
more than injure you

Comparing Cinderella And The Brothers Grimm
Folk tales and fairy tales are stories that have been told to us since we were kids. Some stories are
passed down from generation to generation and change along the way. Fairy tales as Cinderella have
many different variants depending on the origin of where the story was created. A Cinderella story in
the United States differs from a Cinderella story from Russia. Cinderella is nothing of a mere template
of a specific folk tale. Cinderella is a story of a daughter who is looked down upon by her evil
stepmother and her stepsisters. Her stepmother does not allow her to go to a ball announced by a
prince, but Cinderella eventually finds a way of going and she marries the prince. Charles Perrault and
The Brothers Grimm are both famous for their variations of this story. Perrault is famous for adding
many elements to the story such as the fairy godmother and the glass slipper. Grimm is famous for his
gruesome version of Cinderella that ended in the eyes of the sisters getting pecked out by birds.
Despite both stories being similar, Perrault and Grimm show many aspects of the story that are
sparingly different.
Both stories consisted of an evil stepmother, but there is a father in both stories who play a different
role. In Perrault s version of the story, he says The poor girl bore all patiently, and dared not complain
to her father, who would have scolded her if she had done so, for his wife governed him entirely
(Perrault, 236). The father is fully controlled by the

Meaningless Life In Ecclesiastes
After I read Ecclesiastes, I learned that everything is meaningless if you don t believe in God. Our
hearts still have a hole in it and only God could fill up that emptiness in our lives. According to the
writer, he hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to...[him]. All of it is
meaningless, a chasing after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 2:1 26). This proves that life without God is
meaningless and empty, you would hate life because there isn t a meaning to it. The quote gives us an
example of a meaningless life; it is like chasing after the wind because it s pointless and no use, it isn t
beneficial. This is disappointing to know because I think that life can be meaningful if you make the
best out of it. Try your best in everything and don t give up, don t be lazy and actually try contributing
to this world because a lot of things could surprise you. In Life Shaping Decisions , it states that God
has a plan for everyone and we should follow it, or else you will be tragically disappointed. Solomon
told this in a perspective most people pursue in life, which is a interest centered life. In Life Shaping
Decisions it tells us that doing whatever interests isn t always the smartest way to go, you have to
consider other things. The person in the story just did whatever he wanted to do and at the end he felt
empty and that everything was meaningless. This is because he didn t accept God into his life, so he
didn t follow God s plan. The parable in

Pros and Cons of Single Sign On, and Kerberos and Its...
Pros and Cons of Single Sign On In single sign on, the user registers and authenticates with one site
and uses those credentials for identity with other sites (Pros and Cons to Single Sign In, 2009). For the
user, it lowers the barriers to participation of registering with sites without trusting them first and
reduces the number of credentials with having to remember all the usernames and passwords, making
it convenient. The downside for the user is if that one password is lost or forgotten, the user would
have to start over rebuilding and online identity, which can be time consuming (Chng, 2008). Single
sign on is also highly susceptible to phishing attacks. Enterprises that use single sign on may receive
more traffic to their websites by using third party vendors, but there are things that need to be
considered. The site does not see the user credentials with single sign on. They have to trust the third
party site. Without seeing the user email, the enterprise cannot leverage the registrations against
revenue streams of selling mailing lists to spam companies. The dependence on a third party vendor is
without a legal binding agreement, so if the third party shuts down, the enterprise can lose part of the
user base overnight. If the enterprise wishes to send email advertisements to the users, they could not
do that with single sign on because of not having access to the emails. With most enterprises being a
result of mergers with divergent systems, this could present

Ethics In Call Of Duty
War is unforgiveable. Even to the novices and the arm chair commanders whose combat experience
does not extend past Call of Duty , it is clear that choosing one path over another can mean the
difference between life and death for oneself and one s unit. Sometimes there is no right decision, and
yet in others our own prejudices, fears, and emotions get in the way of the right decision. While the
former is often the well known reality of life that is seldom overcome, the latter leads people to make
the wrong decision when the right one is clear. The same can be said of the unit from the Academy
Award winning 1986 film Platoon that fell victim to their own prejudices, fears, and emotions,
eventually committing a number of war crimes before the film was through.
Despite the fictional nature of the film, Chris Taylor, played by Charlie Sheen, and the rest of the
soldiers in his platoon are forced to face not only their own ill advised actions, but whether or not to
report the illegal killing of a Vietnamese civilian. After Sergeant Elias, one of the platoon s squad
leaders, reports the killing, he is killed in action under suspicious circumstances after coming face to

The mediation of the concept of balance in the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu;

insightful, through which we are taken on a journey, our final destination being the true meaning of
life. In a world where we are all yearning for the meaning for life, true harmony and real balance it is
no surprise that the Tao Te Ching is a very haunting piece of literature that holds the reader in an
almost trans like state of mind as it attempts to portray the way to accomplish the above.

However simultaneously during this time of anarchy and imperialism there were many different
cultural and religious sects forming in China. This provides the modern day reader with one of the
main obstacles from fully comprehending the text seeing as it cannot be approached from a mere
linguistic point of view, as to do this a comparison between various translations would be necessary.
Having said this, to overlook the one link in all of the translations would be impossible. That being the
image of equilibrium it tries to obtain by putting forward two almost totally opposing concepts and
within them making the reader to ponder on it for a while and sieve out the rightful meaning. Which
makes it almost like mathematical formula that just has to be applied, this is present in the translation
of the Tao Te Ching by Stephen Mitchell and Stanley Lombardo also in the translation done by
Thomas Cleary and C. Lau.
A clear example of this sense of equilibrium is in the second chapter as is talks about the necessity of
the presence of both extremes so that one can appreciate both, invariably proving that the only way to
recognize things is to accept the opposite of it, be it a good or bad thing. It is a simple equation of
comparison plus balance which equals to tranquil understanding but the real task is putting that into
practice. Therefore having and not having arise together.

Uniform Crime Statistics
Although crime has been around for ages, we only started collecting crime data around the 1930 s.
Crime statistics show a lot about a country, state, county, etc. Crime can be linked to the environment,
behavior of others, and personal experiences, it all depends on how the person deals with the hand
they are dealt. Crime data is collected from three sources, which are uniform crime reports (UCR),
national incident based reporting system (NIBRS), and national crime victimization survey (NCVS).
Originally crime data began in the summer of 1870, when congress passed the law creating the
department of justice. When the department of justice was created, their duties was to make reports to
give to congress based on the crimes happening. During ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today most all states participate in crime statistics. Years ago, not every state would turn in their crime
reports, which effected the total percentage of crimes in the nation. The Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) and Bureau of Justice Statistics report crime statistics. Police stations from all over
the U.S. send their reports of crimes to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Justice
Statistics. For example, a police station will report to the FBI that they had twenty one reports of
robberies for the current year. The Uniform Crime Report (UCR) is a report that is used for the more
serious crimes, such as forcible rape, murder, arson, etc. The UCR is calculated three different ways.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation are specific about the number of how many incidences were
reported for a certain crime. Also, when the FBI calculates the percentages of the crime reports for a
crime and compares the crime rates and an examination is completed to tell if the crime rate has
increased or decreased for the current year. The Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) also calculates the
number of crimes out of one hundred thousand people. Another report the FBI creates is the National
Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS), this report is an elaborated version of the UCR. It takes all
the serious crimes from the Uniform Crime Reports and breaks them down into certain categories that
creates more vivid reports. These reports are very well detailed and give more information about the
crimes, like how many people were arrested. The National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS)
is collected from police stations around the United States. The NIBRS is a report of basically incident
reports. The Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) and National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS)
reports are the most used reports to view crime statistics in the United

The Use of Computer Systems to Read the Handwriting of...
With a few modifications, computer systems that can read the handwriting of doctors and that
automatically check for medicinal conflicts for patients can be improved and provide immense benefit
to both physicians and patients. The principle problem with these systems is that sometimes doctors
do not log out and, when another doctor uses this system, medicine is prescribed for the wrong patient.
The first feature that can be added to such a computer system to prevent this issue from occurring is to
make it so that each time medicine is prescribed for a patient, doctors have to log in possibly by
utilizing the new OneID technology (Skelton, 2012). This way, doctors will readily identify
themselves before they prescribe medication, virtually assuring patients that they will not get the
medicine that a previous doctor prescribed to someone else. It is possible to change settings for
password requirements (Mitchell, no date) Although this system may become tedious for doctors who
are attempting to prescribe more than one medication for a particular patient, it will certainly correct
the greater wrong of patients getting incorrect medicine. An alternative solution to this problem, which
may not be as tedious as the first, would be for the computer system to require doctors to input the
name of the particular patient they are prescribing medicine for following the conclusion of ordering a
prescription. The implementation of this measure would also greatly reduce, if not

contribution to the world was Islamic medicine. The Islamic scholars gathered vast amounts of

Analysis Of The Movie Facing Death
Facing Death is a compelling documentary on, oftentimes, the final journey patients and their families
will venture through together in life. The documentary seeks to capture how the patients and their
families respond to the inevitability of death. The film includes families who respond to the issue by
allowing their family member, the patient, to pass through the door of death without aggressive care,
while there are yet other families who insist on everything being done to delay the moment of death.
This topic of fighting death is attributed with producing much debate. On one hand are those who do
not see the point of fighting death, however, on the other hand, there are those who believe that
delaying death and staying alive is what ought to be done. Personally, from what I understand of either
party, I think that I am a part of the later party. In addition, this issue naturally delves into what one
believes occurs after death, as it is an issue dealing directly with death. This also compels me to view
this topic from the viewpoint of the later party. One philosophy that people may take on the topic of
delaying the moment of death is that it is pointless and should not be delayed beyond reason. From
what I have observed, people of this philosophy do not protest against emergency care. Rather, I think
that they would only disapprove of the aggressive care that may lessen quality of life in the patients.
For example, if a patient is being sustained by a respirator, but

Social Learning Theory and Its Application to Aggression...
Social learning theory proposes that social learning occurs when the individual views a modeled
behavior that they value, observes an act if the model has a role model or admired status, and when a
person imitates a learned behavior (Bandura, Ribes Inesta, 1976). The basic foundations of the theory
are applied to education policies, understanding psychological disorders, training courses, behavioral
modeling, in the media and has a plethora of further applications in today s society. Another
application of the theory is for criminals, violence and aggression. Whether referring to violence in the

This experiment was very controversial as Bandura sought to prove that aggression was learned
through imitation of others. Children between the ages of three and six were brought in to a room with
an adult in one corner and the child in the other. The child s side contained fun activities while the
adult s side contained a toy set, a mallet and a Bobo doll. The child was told that the toys in the adult
corner were only for the adults. In three different groups, children were either subjected to an
aggressive adult that would punch and kick the Bobo doll, a non aggressive adult that would play with
the small toys and ignored the Bobo doll and another group where no adult was present. After the ten
minute session the child was brought into another room with many toys and after only two minutes,
the child is told that they are no longer allowed to play with those toys. The frustrated children were
then brought back into the first room, where the experiment sought to measure the physical and verbal
aggression, the amount of times the mallet was used as other forms of aggression and other forms of
aggression that did not show imitation of the original adult. The experiment found that children
exposed to the aggressive adult were more likely to act more aggressively than the others. The study
also found that boys were much more likely to be aggressive and that imitation increased when the
model was of the same sex (Bandura, Ross, Ross, 1961).

The facility must promote, preserve and protect the safety of every individual within their care. The
facility should be situated at a central location in which a large number of community members have
access to it. The facilities should be able to provide all the services of a healthcare institution including
birthing centers and psychiatric care centers. There is a need for medications and other supplies within
the institution. Medical suppliers may provide all the necessary supplies like medications and surgical
instruments. In most institutions, there are individuals who are responsible for ensuring that the
supplies do not run out. Business challenges are part of operating any business therefore the healthcare
institution must be able to solve the toughest business challenges while the suppliers mustbe able to
take on their responsibilities, hence the quality of the care delivered is not compromised (Marmor
Wendt, 2011). Technology Presently, technology has saved countless lives. The advancement in
technology has allowed healthcare professionals to diagnose illnesses and deliver treatments to
patients in an enhance manner. Moreover, technology has improved the quality of care offered in a
healthcare institution. Therefore, technology should be incorporated in the healthcare system in areas
such as diagnosis of illnesses, surgical procedures, and treatment improvements for patients.

The Supreme Court, Which Does Overrule Its Precedent From
The Supreme Court, which does overrule its precedent from time to time, does not need to do a
lengthy analysis of each precedent s viability in every case. Rather, through its certiorari jurisdiction
(certiorari an order by which a higher court reviews a decision of a lower court), it selects cases and
issues that allow it to reconsider precedent on its own time. When the Court decides that a previous
decision may be in jeopardy, it often asks the parties to brief whether precedent should be overruled.4
The Court must still confront petitions questioning precedent, but it can dispose of these quickly and
without explanation if it so chooses through a simple denial of certiorari. This shows that horizontal

In their opinions it stated In approaching this problem, we cannot turn the clock back to 1868 when
the Amendment was adopted, or even to 1896 when Plessy v. Ferguson was written. We must consider
public education in the light of its full development and its present place in American life throughout
the Nation. Only in this way can it be determined if segregation in public schools deprives these
plaintiffs of the equal protection of the laws. They never say they overturn or change their minds on a
decision. They simply state that even though at the time of Plessy v. Ferguson the idea of it was
theoretically possible to be separate but equal, but when it was enforced the outcome did not support
that.
Here are the main arguments for the opposing side. The Supreme Court views it as a non mandatory
judicial policy. Stare decisis has an effect on collegiality within the Supreme Court justices. Schauer s
studies indicate that stare decisis has a rare and weak influence on the Court and most Supreme Court
decisions have not taken their predecessors seriously.
One of the main opposing arguments is that The Supreme Court has viewed horizontal stare decisis as
a non mandatory judicial policy. Example: Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v.
Casey. The Court chose not to overturn Roe v. Wade 8 despite its conflicted feelings about the
decision. Horizontal stare decisis is not applied with equal vigor in all cases.

The Differences Of Alexander Hamilton And Thomas Jeffersons
Like many in their time, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson were friends and on the same side
to absolve colonial ties with Great Britain. But once the war was over and independence was
documented in the Treaty of Paris, the new business of creating a new nation was at hand. During this
time, it became apparent that those who shared the same side during the revolution would now find
themselves at odds with one another. Both men had visions and desires for the new nation. However,
nearly one hundred years later and following the civil war, one vision in particular, was closer to
reality than the other. Both of these men were fundamental in the birth of this nation, but their views
on government, economics, and politics differ substantially. Economically speaking, Hamilton wanted
a growing and thriving society based on trade and large manufacturing companies. In contrast,
Jefferson envisioned a society that was based mainly on the presence of many small farmers. Jefferson
particularly did not want large amounts of manufacturing to be done in the US. He argued that
manufactured goods could be imported from Europe, while the US could remain primarily agrarian.
During the Reconstruction period, the South went through a major reconstruction and rebuilding
phase. Although farming was still a large part of the economy, large manufacturing facilities emerged
as well. The increase in large manufacturing facilities and international trade mirrored the vision of
Hamilton much more so than Jefferson s. Jefferson and Hamilton differed widely in their views of
politics and the structure of society. Jefferson envisioned an egalitarian country vs Hamilton s
aspirations of a more stratified society. Jefferson wanted pure equality for everyone regardless of
social, economic, or background. In contrast, Hamilton wanted a growing manufacturing society were
owners of factories and large industries were politically more powerful than the people that worked
for them. Although the Reconstruction was designed to create a perfect equal rights society, other than
freeing the slaves, it failed miserably and was unlike Jefferson s vision of an egalitarian society.
Although the slaves were free, they still didn t receive equal

Essay On Stereotype Threat
The Effects of Stereotype Threat and Self Enhancement on Self Esteem Stereotypes or widely held
and oversimplified beliefs about a person or thing have both pros and cons and we are all guilty of
using them. Although they have made life easier by helping us quickly navigate the world and have
helped us understand different cultures norms and values they can also turn sour when they undermine
a culture by portraying them in a negative light. Negative stereotypes about African Americans are an
example of this. Today s culture is filled with stereotypes about African Americans. For instance,
according to Welch (2007) In American society, a prevalent representation of crime is that it is
overwhelmingly committed by young Black men (p. 276). Continuing on, Welch (2007) notes that the
image of a young Black male as a violent and menacing street thug is fueled and perpetuated by
typifications everywhere (p. 276). Such stereotypes can play a major role in how one views a
particular group and if one is part of that in group, how they might view themselves. Nonetheless, my
group chose to focus specifically on stereotype threat. Stereotype threat is defined as the fear of

Satire, Humor, and Shock Value in Swifts A Modest...
Satire, Humor, and Shock Value in Swifts A Modest Proposal
Swift s message to the English government in A Modest Proposal deals with the disgusting state of the
English Irish common people. Swift, as the narrator expresses pity for the poor and oppressed, while
maintaining his social status far above them. The poor and oppressed that he refers to are Catholics,
peasants, and the poor homeless men, women, and children of the kingdom. This is what Swift is
trying to make the English government, in particular the Parliament aware of; the great socioeconomic
distance between the increasing number of peasants and the aristocracy, and the effects thereof. Swift
conveys his message in a brilliant essay, in which he uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This refers to the Catholic doctrine prohibiting birth control.
Swift estimates that there are 120,000 children of poor parents born annually. These children are a
burden on society because . . .we can neither employ them in handicraft or agriculture (2183), they
have no practical skills or uses. To deal with this problem, Swift makes his modest proposal, using a
device that is timeless in its effectiveness shock value:
[A] healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious nourishing, and wholesome food,
whether stewed, roasted, baked or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee
or a ragout. (2182)
Indeed the proposal to eat the poor is a shocking statement, but what adds to the shock value is the
delivery. For example, take the last statement regarding a fricassee. This statement is not necessary for
the point, but it certainly adds to the appalling nature of the quote. The sarcastic nature puts Swift so
far above the poor subjects that it evokes an extremely humorous response. Swift digresses and uses
sarcasm numerous times in the essay, to emphasize truisms in a manner that tries to be less than direct,
but has the ultimate effect of clarity. For example Swift proposes that some one of the uses for the
children would be to

stories. The White Tigers (Pg. 17) chapter has a bird to guide Kingston, as it did with Fa Mu Lan when
she was seven years old, up the mountain to meet her mentors. The representation of the bird is the
bravery of a little girl that would be willing to climb a mountain without fear of anything. It also
represents the possibility of how a girl is rising above her station in life and growing to become a great
leader. In fact, Kingston is especially disturbed that a bird represents death of her fourth uncle s death

An Analysis Of Peter Stanley s Dead Wrong
I strongly believe that Dead Wrong should be selected for study for all year eight students at Mater
Maria Catholic College. This statement roots from effective utilisation of appropriate language, given
that the target audience is year eights with constantly expanding knowledge of the surrounding world.
This is also due to the encapsulation of themes within the novel that are perfectly fitted to year eights
at Mater Maria. The success of this novel is also illuminated through crime fiction conventions, which
are composed to broaden the students knowledge and understanding of the genre and what is required
to construct a plot under the genre of crime fiction. Having assembled these points, I will now outline
why Peter Stanley s Dead Wrong should be selected as the novel of year eight study with literary
evidence.
My first point as to why Dead Wrong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In actuality the struggle of finding a novel with the use of themes suitable for the particular year group
is definitely not a trouble free task. Dead Wrong makes use of the most suitable combination of
gruelling or advanced themes for year eight responders through the perfect interval of literary
elements. Themes prominent within the novel are suspense, tension and not jumping to conclusions.
These themes aid in portraying the mature aspect of the novel and assisting with the students growing
knowledge. The quote Wilson got up, chased and charged at him again, slashing him across the body
once more before Sweeney could raise his gun. implies that the novel uses fairly gruesome language
reflecting the target audience. Having used this language, year eights would advance in their English
and writing skills due to the newfound knowledge of language techniques and age level appropriation.
This makes Dead Wrong the best choice for year eight and should definitely be chosen by all year
eight English

Even before Laura Ingalls Wilder had the fame of the books, which were not published until later in her life, she would write short nonfiction pieces for newspapers and magazines (Hines). Laura Ingalls Wilder started first as a teacher, fell in love with and married Almanzo Wilder which caused her to quit teaching, and subsequently had two children a daughter named Rose and a son who died soon after his birth. Although Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote many books which are what gained her lasting success; she also wrote essays about her outlook on life as well as politics during WWI. Rose, her daughter, grew up and like her mother eventually began to write for a newspaper. She encouraged her mother to write about her childhood. The original story Ms. Wilder wrote was very different than the one we are familiar with today. Originally called, Pioneer Girl, it was a first person account covering her life from about the time she was three until the age of eighteen, and began with the words Once upon a time... (Mumford). The publishers kept on rejecting it, but Laura never gave up (Hines). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Sensitive Periods During The Caterpillar Of The Prosthesis... SENSITIVE PERIODS Introduction: Sensitive periods is a term developed by the Dutch geneticist Hugo de Vries and later used by the Italian educator Maria Montessori. Montessori cites DeVries example of a Sensitive Period in the caterpillar of the Prosthesis butterfly. The caterpillar must feed on very tender leaves, and yet the butterfly lays its eggs in the most hidden fork of the branch, near the trunk of the tree. Who will show the little caterpillars hidden there, the moment they leave the egg, that the tender leaves they need are to be found at the extreme tip of the branch, in the light? Now the caterpillar is strongly sensible to light; light attracts it, summons it as by an irresistible voice, fascinates it, and the caterpillar goes wriggling towards where the light is brightest, till it reaches the tip of the branch, and thus finds itself, famished for food, among the budding leaves that can give it nourishment. It is a strange fact that when the caterpillar has passed through its first stage and is full grown, it can eat other food, and then loses its sensibility to light. This has been proved in scientific laboratories where there are neither trees nor leaves but only the caterpillar and the light. According to Montessori sensitive periods, refers to several overlapping periods of development where a child is sensitive to a particular stimuli or type of interaction. A child passes through special times in his life when he easily incorporates a particular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

William Shakespeare Mentorship Essay Shakespeare: A Question of Authorship For centuries scholars have been examining the question whether William Shakespeare wrote all the work that has been credited to him. In his short 52 years of life, he is said to have authored 154 sonnets, two epic poems, and 38 five act plays. Following the death of Shakespeare, many scholars began researching information that may have proven why Shakespeare could not have been the primary author or the author at all for many of these works. Four theories as to why Shakespeare could not have written all the work that has been credited to him include: his limited education as an individual of common birth; the shear difficulty and near impossibility for one individual to write so many varied pieces, not ... Wou Wound Healing Essay Introduction The skin, the most important organ in the human body has many vital functions including: sensation, thermoregulation, protection and synthesis of vitamin D. Routinely and consistent assessment and monitoring of the patients skin condition is one of the most important duty we have as nurses. This is very important because any change in the condition of the skin may often be an indication of underlying disease Injury of either the epidermis or the dermis can result in systemic infection, increased morbidity, increased cost of care, and negative psychosocial consequences (Schindler, Kuhn, Christopher, Conway, Ridling Simpson; 2011). Wound healing is a very complex process. Wound healing has three phases: the inflammatory phase, the proliferative phase, and the maturational or remodeling phase. These phases might overlap at times (Porth, 2011). Inflammatory Phase The inflammatory phase starts at the time of injury with the formation of a blood clot and the migration of phagocytic white blood cells into the wound site. The first cells to arrive, the neutrophils, ingest and remove bacteria and cellular debris. After twenty four hours, the neutrophils are joined by macrophages that continue to ingest cellular debris and play an important role in the production of growth factors for the proliferative phase (Porth, 2011). Proliferative Phase The proliferative phase typically follows and overlaps with the inflammatory phase, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The discussions would last about three quarters of a period, and they would go nowhere because nobody could agree whether it was a good or bad thing to do. I would always be in the middle of the debate because, I believed that it was a good thing. I am for animal experimentation because it has revolutionized the medical field, regulates the overpopulation of certain animal species in the environment, and follows a certain set of laws set by the Animal Welfare Act. The first reason I support animal experimentation is because it has revolutionized the medical field. For thousands of years there have been reports of animal experimentation throughout the courses of history. Ancient Greek philosophers such as Aristotle (384 322 B.C.E.) observed and manipulated numerous animals, establishing that mammals in particular resembled humans to the extent that they could act as stand ins. (Bruce Jennings) As Bruce Jennings described, animal experimentation has been around since the great historians. Also, one hundred years after Aristotle made the discovery that the human and animal anatomy were similar, a physician made a miraculous discovery. Object oriented programming vs. procedural programming the pros and cons Computer programming as we know is an important engineering task in modern world where a maximum number of electronic equipment are based on microcontrollers and microprocessors. The cost of microprocessors and controllers have gone so low that the cost of entire electronic circuit which used to be sky high in 1970s and 80s, has now gone to down drastically. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, we will look into what Object Oriented Programming is. Before that we must first understand what an object is, because that is what the entire programming method is based on. An object is something which has a defined state and characteristics of its own. This concept was taken from the real world scenario, where each object we see has those two states. An example would be a cup, it has a height, it has a purpose and it has a specific volume which it can hold. The shape of the cup can also be taken into consideration. In software programming, the object is worked upon by use of methods. The methods are what help two or multiple objects communicate with each other ( Object Oriented Programming ). Thus we can now say, Object oriented programming works on objects instead of working directly on the actions as in case of Procedural programming. Although, indirectly we are working on their actions because that is what makes the entire program work. Objects once defined can be used infinite times in a program and we do not have to define them. Thus, object oriented programming focusses more on getting the logic of the program right instead of spending several lines of code trying to get the data definitions right. The most commonly used Object oriented programming languages are Java, C#, PHP and Visual basic designed for .NET framework. An example of PHP object oriented programming would help us understand the actual programming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He gets very excited over the thrill of the kill, turning his job into a game. His hand trembled with eagerness as he was trying to shoot the enemy sniper, showing the intense excitement he felt. Some stories are passed down from generation to generation and change along the way. Fairy tales as Cinderella have many different variants depending on the origin of where the story was created. A Cinderella story in the United States differs from a Cinderella story from Russia. Cinderella is nothing of a mere template of a specific folk tale. Cinderella is a story of a daughter who is looked down upon by her evil stepmother and her stepsisters. Her stepmother does not allow her to go to a ball announced by a prince, but Cinderella eventually finds a way of going and she marries the prince. Charles Perrault and The Brothers Grimm are both famous for their variations of this story. Perrault is famous for adding many elements to the story such as the fairy godmother and the glass slipper. Grimm is famous for his gruesome version of Cinderella that ended in the eyes of the sisters getting pecked out by birds. Despite both stories being similar, Perrault and Grimm show many aspects of the story that are sparingly different. Both stories consisted of an evil stepmother, but there is a father in both stories who play a different role. The downside for the user is if that one password is lost or forgotten, the user would have to start over rebuilding and online identity, which can be time consuming (Chng, 2008). The principle problem with these systems is that sometimes doctors do not log out and, when another doctor uses this system, medicine is prescribed for the wrong patient. The first feature that can be added to such a computer system to prevent this issue from occurring is to make it so that each time medicine is prescribed for a patient, doctors have to log in possibly by utilizing the new OneID technology (Skelton, 2012). This way, doctors will readily identify themselves before they prescribe medication, virtually assuring patients that they will not get the medicine that a previous doctor prescribed to someone else. It is possible to change settings for password requirements (Mitchell, no date) Although this system may become tedious for doctors who are attempting to prescribe more than one medication for a particular patient, it will certainly correct the greater wrong of patients getting incorrect medicine. An alternative solution to this problem, which may not be as tedious as the first, would be for the computer system to require doctors to input the name of the particular patient they are prescribing medicine for following the conclusion of ordering a prescription. The implementation of this measure would also greatly reduce, if not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Analysis Of The Movie Facing Death Facing Death is a compelling documentary on, oftentimes, the final journey patients and their families will venture through together in life. The documentary seeks to capture how the patients and their families respond to the inevitability of death. The film includes families who respond to the issue by allowing their family member, the patient, to pass through the door of death without aggressive care, while there are yet other families who insist on everything being done to delay the moment of death. This topic of fighting death is attributed with producing much debate. On one hand are those who do not see the point of fighting death, however, on the other hand, there are those who believe that delaying death and staying alive is what ought to be done. Personally, from what I understand of either party, I think that I am a part of the later party. In addition, this issue naturally delves into what one believes occurs after death, as it is an issue dealing directly with death. This also compels me to view this topic from the viewpoint of the later party. One philosophy that people may take on the topic of delaying the moment of death is that it is pointless and should not be delayed beyond reason. From what I have observed, people of this philosophy do not protest against emergency care. Rather, I think that they would only disapprove of the aggressive care that may lessen quality of life in the patients. For example, if a patient is being sustained by a respirator, but ... After the ten minute session the child was brought into another room with many toys and after only two minutes, the child is told that they are no longer allowed to play with those toys. The frustrated children were then brought back into the first room, where the experiment sought to measure the physical and verbal aggression, the amount of times the mallet was used as other forms of aggression and other forms of aggression that did not show imitation of the original adult. The experiment found that children exposed to the aggressive adult were more likely to act more aggressively than the others. The Supreme Court, Which Does Overrule Its Precedent From The Supreme Court, which does overrule its precedent from time to time, does not need to do a lengthy analysis of each precedent s viability in every case. Rather, through its certiorari jurisdiction (certiorari an order by which a higher court reviews a decision of a lower court), it selects cases and issues that allow it to reconsider precedent on its own time. When the Court decides that a previous decision may be in jeopardy, it often asks the parties to brief whether precedent should be overruled.4 The Court must still confront petitions questioning precedent, but it can dispose of these quickly and without explanation if it so chooses through a simple denial of certiorari. We must consider public education in the light of its full development and its present place in American life throughout the Nation. Only in this way can it be determined if segregation in public schools deprives these plaintiffs of the equal protection of the laws. They never say they overturn or change their minds on a decision. They simply state that even though at the time of Plessy v. Ferguson the idea of it was theoretically possible to be separate but equal, but when it was enforced the outcome did not support that. Here are the main arguments for the opposing side. The Supreme Court views it as a non mandatory judicial policy. Stare decisis has an effect on collegiality within the Supreme Court justices. Schauer s studies indicate that stare decisis has a rare and weak influence on the Court and most Supreme Court decisions have not taken their predecessors seriously. One of the main opposing arguments is that The Supreme Court has viewed horizontal stare decisis as a non mandatory judicial policy. Example: Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey. • 37. The Differences Of Alexander Hamilton And Thomas Jeffersons Like many in their time, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson were friends and on the same side to absolve colonial ties with Great Britain. But once the war was over and independence was documented in the Treaty of Paris, the new business of creating a new nation was at hand. During this time, it became apparent that those who shared the same side during the revolution would now find themselves at odds with one another. Both men had visions and desires for the new nation. However, nearly one hundred years later and following the civil war, one vision in particular, was closer to reality than the other. Both of these men were fundamental in the birth of this nation, but their views on government, economics, and politics differ substantially. Economically speaking, Hamilton wanted a growing and thriving society based on trade and large manufacturing companies. In contrast, Jefferson envisioned a society that was based mainly on the presence of many small farmers. Jefferson particularly did not want large amounts of manufacturing to be done in the US. He argued that manufactured goods could be imported from Europe, while the US could remain primarily agrarian. During the Reconstruction period, the South went through a major reconstruction and rebuilding phase. Although farming was still a large part of the economy, large manufacturing facilities emerged as well. The increase in large manufacturing facilities and international trade mirrored the vision of Hamilton much more so than Jefferson s. Jefferson and Hamilton differed widely in their views of politics and the structure of society. Jefferson envisioned an egalitarian country vs Hamilton s aspirations of a more stratified society. Jefferson wanted pure equality for everyone regardless of social, economic, or background. In contrast, Hamilton wanted a growing manufacturing society were owners of factories and large industries were politically more powerful than the people that worked for them. Although the Reconstruction was designed to create a perfect equal rights society, other than freeing the slaves, it failed miserably and was unlike Jefferson s vision of an egalitarian society. Essay On Stereotype Threat The Effects of Stereotype Threat and Self Enhancement on Self Esteem Stereotypes or widely held and oversimplified beliefs about a person or thing have both pros and cons and we are all guilty of using them. Although they have made life easier by helping us quickly navigate the world and have helped us understand different cultures norms and values they can also turn sour when they undermine a culture by portraying them in a negative light. Negative stereotypes about African Americans are an example of this. Today s culture is filled with stereotypes about African Americans. For instance, according to Welch (2007) In American society, a prevalent representation of crime is that it is overwhelmingly committed by young Black men (p. 276). Continuing on, Welch (2007) notes that the image of a young Black male as a violent and menacing street thug is fueled and perpetuated by typifications everywhere (p. 276). Such stereotypes can play a major role in how one views a particular group and if one is part of that in group, how they might view themselves. The poor and oppressed that he refers to are Catholics, peasants, and the poor homeless men, women, and children of the kingdom.
