 Annotate: you need a pen, highlighter or post
it notes. What do you highlight? Why?

8. Strategy: Summary Statement
 The summary statement is a “nutshell
statement” for an essay or article.
 You always include the Title, Author, Genre
(TAG) and author’s main idea.
 Ex:In the essay “I Can’t Accept Not Trying,”
Michael Jordan explains the importance of
breaking large goals down into smaller steps.
