Strategic Plan For Canada
According to the Business Dictionary (n.d.), "the strategic plan is a broadly–defined plan aimed at
creating a desired future" (para. 1). A strategic plan is a long–term plan that provides a direction for
an organization's activities by defining specific aspects needed for success. A growing number of
organizations realize the importance of strategic plan, and they would like to establish strategic
plans to guide their performance. I consider that the strategic plan not only plays a significant role to
organizations and individuals but it is also needed to determine how to balance all of their
obligations. When it comes to me, as a graduating student, I am going to apply for a good career. In
recent years, a growing number of graduates are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will use PEST analysis to scan the environment by analyzing local political, economic, social and
technological conditions. In recent years, the Canada government has established many policies to
promote employment and increase minimum wage. According to Government of Canada (2015),
"the percentage of the total Canadian population who held a job (an alternative measure of how
many individuals are working) increased from 41.6% in 1976 to 50.2% in 2012" (para. 2). This
employment climate is a political opportunity for me. In addition, "five years after the global
recession, and despite ongoing global uncertainty, Canada's economic performance continues to be
among the strongest of the advanced economies. Indeed, the Canadian economy has performed well
since 2009, outpacing most of its Group of Seven (G7) peers" (Government of Canada, 2015, para.
2). It shows that Canada is in a healthy economic state. Furthermore, with the development of
globalization, Canada has become one of one of the most multicultural and diverse countries in the
world. Government of Canada (2013) states "in 2014, Canada will welcome between 240,000 and
265,000 new permanent residents who will contribute to the Canadian economy. The 2014
Immigration Levels Plan reinforces the Government of Canada's commitment to jobs and economic
growth" (para. 1). It reveals that the Canadian government will address labor markets needs and
provide more work chances to new immigrants. In conclusion, the Canadian political, economic,
social and technological conditions are good now, and it is a good time to start my

Personal Narrative: My Internship At Superdome Sports
Throughout my internship this summer, I have had the opportunity to meet many new people and
learn a lot about them. While interviewing them, however, I was able to learn about their
experiences; how they all had different paths and ended up at the same place and industry,
Superdome Sports.
Nancy Walters, the program director at Superdome Sports, was the first person I interviewed. As the
program director, her responsibilities are to nurture and develop new and existing programs. She
also has the responsibility of developing relations with outside parties, such as schools, PTO's,
recreation departments, and other parties that will allow business to flow into the organization. She

in this industry more as a way to build her public relations and business skills for her own company,
I am still able to see how dedicated she is at anything she does. She is a great role model and I am

Donald Trump Dbq
On November 9, it was announced that Donald Trump would be president. This essay isn't entirely
about Donald Trump, but rather about one of the reasons why he was elected: he's not afraid to "tell
it like it is" rather than worry about being politically correct. One of the complaints from the
millions of people who voted for Trump is that America is too politically correct, almost to the point
that it infringes on free speech. Whether this is true or not is debatable. In an article from The
Washington Post, Cathy Cuthbertson, a Trump supporter, said, ""You know, I couldn't say 'Merry
Christmas.' And when we wrote things, we couldn't even say 'he' or 'she,' because we had
transgender. People of color. I mean, we had to watch every word that came out of our mouth,
because we were afraid of offending someone,"(Tumulty and Johnson). Cuthbertson's feelings
embody much of those who oppose political correctness. Most of the oppositions to political
corrections stem from the argument ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He appeals to this dislike of political correctness, "They have put political correctness above
common sense, above your safety above all else," he said regarding Obama and Hillary Clinton
(Weigel). He takes anti–political correctness to the extremes, as he disregarded political correctness
through his actions in his campaign. He "tells it like it is," no matter how offensive. These are just a
few quotes from him this campaign season: "You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes,
blood coming out of her wherever," regarding Megan Kelly, "Look at that face. Would anybody vote
for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president? I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not
s'posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?" regarding Carly Fiorina, and
"They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us.
They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists" regarding Mexican immigrants

Bay Of Pigs Research Paper
Bay of Pigs: An American Embarrassment The day of April 17, 1961, was nothing short of a
horrific, albeit shameful period for President John F. Kennedy and America. The infamous
Operation Pluto, known as The Bay of Pigs, intended to overthrow and assassinate President Fidel
Castro, was, without debate, a disastrous ploy to protect U.S. interests. Accounts of just how tragic
the event was can be found in a book written by Howard Jones, The Bay of Pigs: "When the tank
commanders finally called off the assault, 'we heard the yelling of the wounded,'. . . "There was a
concert of the dying." Understanding what took place on that day, as well as why, boils down to
more than just the events of that one era. Therefore, a close look dating back to 1898, must be taken
to truly comprehend why the U.S. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the Cuban election of 1947, Carlos Prio quickly became known as "the most polarized,
corrupt, violent, and undemocratic" president in history (Sweig 5). His atrocities prompted General
Batista to carry out a coup that would put him in power, backed by the States. The relationship
between Batista, Cuba, and the U.S. was one of complete economic gain. Despite the violent uproar
President Batista's coup had sparked, America continued to back and use him to establish an
economic stronghold in Cuba. However, Fidel Castro, a young lawyer slated to run for the
presidency pre–Batista chose to mount a revolution against him, calling it M267. "As the M267's
military strength solidified beginning in the summer of 1985, it became possible for the movement
to relate to the broad anti–Batista opposition from a position of political strength" (Sweig 10). By

Conspiracy Theories By Maggie Koerth Baker Summary
Conspiracy theories
Maggie Koerth Baker's piece titled Why rational people buy into conspiracy theories represents the
reasons why rational people believe in conspiracy theories. Throughout the article Baker tries to
explain the reasons behind the belief of conspiracy theories supported by research and evidence.
This paper will review Baker's article as well as her main arguments, will evaluate the quality of
Baker's writing and focus on any areas of weakness within the article.
In her introduction Baker uses the example of Boston bombings to describe the theories formed by
people in the happening of an event. There are two reasons why people believe in conspiracy
theories. Firstly, due to psychological reasons and secondly because they believe ... Show more

Whether conspiracy theories are formed due to psychological reasons or the media is still unclear.
The conclusion of the article is too vague. After giving all the examples and evidence to prove that
powerlessness and uncertainty causes conspiracy theories she provides an incomplete conclusion.
She fails to encompass how these conspiracy theories would affect the lives of people and why they
should care about conspiracy theories. Moreover, she fails to provide contrary evidence on the
subject matter. However, the essay achieves its effectiveness and credibility by including real life
examples given by the writer to support media theory and by using the work of scientists and
psychologists to persuade the readers.
Additionally, she also uses compelling anecdotal evidence to support her argument that the brain of
a rational person forms these conspiracy theories as it is a human tendency to latch onto
interpretation of facts as they become available. The writer also uses scientific terms like amygdala
and theories such as 'confirmation bias and the 'backfire effect' to persuade the readers that
conspiracy theories are formed by rational people due to psychological reasons.
In conclusion, even though Baker uses credible and compelling evidence to support her argument,
she does not succeed in answering why non–American should actually care about conspiracy
theories in general. Baker fails to justify her

Mental Illness: A Case Study
In pursuing a PhD at University of Texas El Paso, I seek to address a broad question: Is our
correctional system equipped to successfully manage and improve outcomes for mentally ill
offenders supervised in the community? One particularly disheartening conclusion that I reached
from my educational experiences as an undergraduate and graduate student was that mental illness is
still not well understood by professionals and lay persons alike. Much was–and is–still to be
discovered about accurate and reliable diagnosis, effective treatment, and successful integration of
people with mental illness in our communities. In my pursuit of knowledge on this topic, I quickly
discovered an even more troubling reality that people with mental illness are ... Show more content

I also considered how our overburdened justice system and societal stigma influences the general
public's responses to mentally ill individuals in the community and wondered how the system could
be improved. If mentally ill offenders face challenges in institutional confinement, what happens
when they live in the community and similar issues arise? How does the training and expertise of
our community corrections officers affect supervision outcomes for this population? I wonder what
researchers and policy makers can do to better inform practitioners about how to manage and
improve outcomes of mentally disordered offenders supervised in the

Automobiles and Pollution Essay
Automobiles and Pollution
In years past, levels of air, noise, and sight pollution were much lower than they are today. There are
more cars on the road today, and because of this we experience higher levels of pollution than
before. The automobile is probably the leading contributor pollution in our cities. They release toxic
emissions into our atmosphere. Automobiles are linked particularly to carbon monoxide pollution.
They are noisy (especially if you are living near the highway), and they take up valuable space in
the form of vast parking lots that are unpleasing to the eye. Why are there more automobiles on the
road today than there was in the past? Understanding the answer to this question is important when
trying to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Americans are known for our passion for the automobile. The automobile symbolizes freedom and
independence. Freedom is the backbone of our country. Many of our historical documents were
written with freedom as the major theme. For example, the declaration of independence proposes
freedom from an oppressive government. Freedom is a concept that most Americans take pride in.
For this reason, the automobile is attractive to us. If you own your own automobile, you are free to
go any place you like whenever you want. You suddenly become independent and you no longer
have to rely on other people for rides. This is a common feeling among 16–year–olds. With the
acquisition of the drivers license comes a whole new world of opportunity and responsibility.
Another factor to be considered is the American concept of time. Time is money. Because of this we
are usually in a hurry, so we hop in our cars and off we go, late for some sort of an appointment. We
could use alternate forms of transportation like busses or railways which decrease pollution by
decreasing the total number of cars on our roads, but these forms of transportation are not as
convenient as driving ourselves. After all, time is money and I'm late for a class. I don't have time to
wait for the bus. Is this

Government Involvement In College Sports
Federal and state governments should stay on the bench when it comes to funding professional and
collegiate sports. The costs of becoming a player in the game would greatly outweigh any benefits
government involvement would bring. Furthermore, using federal or state money to subsidize and
incentivize sports would not stop at giving teams additional capital; such funding opens the door for
government involvement in the sports themselves. Imagine the government wanting a say in
important decisions like rule changes or coach and player signings. Bryce Harper of the Washington
Nationals would certainly not get the $500 million–dollar payday he is expected to be receive if the
government had any say! Even if the government was willing to pay ... Show more content on

The military is a great example of a government program that returns a greater benefit than the
funding of sports would. The support of the military is what allows the community to enjoy
professional and collegiate sports. Ensuring the military has the financial support it needs and even
paying the military members more for their service enforces the privilege of sports. Increased staff
of police and firefighters would benefit at the community level. The recent barrage of gun violence
warrants the need for increased regulation via police and fire. Restricting funding or not providing
more funds to the beforementioned programs or others like healthcare, education, transportation,
and community centers to support sports would switch a focus on community that promotes health
and safety to one that promotes entertainment. In addition, there is not a great return on investment
for the government to subsidize and incentivize sports. Per Forbes, the most profitable sports league,
the NFL, had its teams earn an average net profit of $91 million in 2016 before taxes and interest.
Many of these teams are billion–dollar franchises. To get any profit out of the income, the
government would have to invest a significant amount of money – likely more than they would get
back. Besides any financial benefits, there are virtually no other benefits that the government could

Religious Freedom In Healthcare Essay
Affordable Healthcare vs. Religious Freedom Jenna Cox Fairleigh Dickinson University Abstract
One of the latest changes in President Barack Obama's Affordable Healthcare is that all employers'
must cover contraceptives, more specifically birth control. Their has been backlash towards this new
requirement stating that forcing employers to cover birth control violates the Religious Freedom Act
of 1993 since contraceptives may go against their beliefs. The government is allowed to intercept in
the least intrusive way if it protects the government's interests and the general population. Since the
government is not forcing any one to consume birth control, there are no rights being violated
against religious freedom. Having contraceptives covered under all birth control policies is just a
way to ensure everyone has access to contraceptives and should be looked at in a positive manner
and not as a religious freedom violation. Maintaining Religious Freedom in Affordable Healthcare

An objective look into distance learning
"Can You Be Educated from a Distance," an insightful essay by James Barszcz, brings to focus
some of the benefits and disadvantages of Distance Learning education (DL). In it, Barszcz
discusses the mechanics of DL courses available to students, the quality of education DL can offer,
and some reasoning behind its rapidly growing popularity. "Can You Be Educated from a Distance"
is an engaging article that students of all ages can benefit from. Barszcz cleverly introduces a

However, Barszcz points out that freshman enrolled in only DL courses are 15 percent more likely
to drop out, and that the "Students themselves seem to understand the weaknesses inherent in the
setup."(7) Another example of this is where the author speaks of a survey conducted for eCornell.
The survey showed that "Less than a third of the respondents expected the quality of the on–line
courses to be as good as the classroom course."(7) Barszcz strongly produces yet another
illustration: "Regardless of their expectations or desires," (7) Fairleigh Dickinson University
students, "are now required to take one DL course per year."(7) This is supposed to give students the
skills necessary to function properly in today's technological age. Conversely, he explains that these
universities are more interested in making money that preparing their students for the future.
In Barszczs' essay conclusion, he gives poetically clear examples why students will benefit from
taking campus–based courses. He stresses the value of face to face interaction between the students
and the faculty. Being late to a class, or missing an assignment has a stronger effect if the student
has to personally interact with the instructor. Barszcz defines the word education as a process of
"drawing out", stating that campus life can "draw out, from within a person, qualities of intellect and
character that would have otherwise remained hidden or dormant." (8).

Reduce Workplace Stress to Reduce Workplace Violence
Reduce Workplace Stress to Reduce Workplace Violence The workplace can be a very stressful
environment. Everyone has to be concerned with deadlines, with performance, with interpersonal
communication. With each decision comes the potential for repercussions which could cost the
company money, time, energy, and lead to the expansion or destruction of the company as a whole
and the loss of employment of a single individual or of all those employed in the most dire of
situations. In fact, according to Rebecca Maxon (1999), "three out of every four American workers
describe their work as stressful." It is therefore no surprise that in a place with so much stress and
where the stakes are so high, things can become tense and, if the wrong sets of conditions are met,
violence can break out. Incidences of workplace violence are more prolific than ever before and the
costs are greater with people being assaulted (simple assault is the most common act of workplace

traditional workplace stress, but it is a very real possibility. Researchers have endeavored to discover

My Hero Journey
A hero comes in many different shapes and sizes and the lessons learned from the experience is one
to never forget. Sometimes a hero is needed to save others, and sometimes you have to be your own
hero and save yourself. This is my journey and how I needed to change myself. Getting by was the
way I lived my life in high school. Every morning I would wake up, go to school, zone out, and
have a single care in the world. I wasn't a disruptive student who always got in trouble, I just did not
care to be there. For the first two years, I was in remedial classes because I did poorly in some
classes in middle school. I would miss homework assignments because I was too busy off doing
other things to even care if I had homework. I just figured I would ... Show more content on

The letters started to roll in and I went four for five, getting into Monmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson

I Want To Be A Nurse Practitioner
I was born in Ghana, West Africa, where I had my education through to graduating with my first
Bachelor's degree in Economics/ Geography from University of Cape Coast. As a requirement for
new university graduates in Ghana, I served the Ghana Government for one year at the Ghana
National Commission on Children where my encounter with children living in deprived
communities helped me appreciate basic life essentials I took for granted, like easy access to water
or not walking two miles to go to school. Before becoming a nurse I lost a friend to sepsis which
made me do more research on the disease and enabled me to choose this career.
Enacting nursing theory in decision–making when caring for patients and their families is something
that I've incorporated into my day to day activities as a nurse. Being a proud oncology nurse for
almost two years, I've come to know the different types of cancer and how they mutate and destroy
the various body systems. It has made me a good listener by listening and addressing the various

The Importance of Confidence Essay
The Importance of Confidence Most of life's situations are learning experiences. People can learn
what activities are right or wrong for them by experiences these emotions in different situations.
These learning experiences can take place at home, school, the workplace, or anywhere else. The
three major experiences that have given me confidence in my ability to learn have all taken place at
Penn State University. One experience that, in the end, gave me confidence was my first semester of
lessons with the Penn State School of Music clarinet professor. The Professor was not a personable
man. He was very quick to criticize every mistake I was making and was very blunt with his
comments. I felt like a failure. I was very sensitive, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

experience that helped me gain confidence was my speech communications class with my professor,
Mrs. Larson. I knew I didn't have any trouble with talking to a group of people. I love to tell jokes
and stories to many people at one time, but I was nervous and somewhat embarrassed about
preparing some boring speech and making everyone else suffer by listening to it. Mrs. Larson
explained that we all have problems with this and that it can be overcome. I remember something
simple she said that stuck in my mind: "The only way to get over the fear of something is to just do
it." She was right. As I had to go up to give the speech, her words constantly kept running through
my mind. After the speech, I realized that we were all in the same boat suffering from the same
seasickness– nervousness, We all had to give speeches. No one was out to criticize anyone else and
we all ended up supporting each other! I learned that I could make a "boring" speech interesting if I
have fun with it and feel comfortable as the speaker of the moment. Becoming a member of the
Penn State Blue Band was the ultimate experience that gave me total confidence. The Blue Band has
been rated as the #1 college or university marching band in the country; it has a very superior
reputation. I had wanted to be a member of this band

Essay about Impact of Diversity on Public Policies
When the Three–Fifth Compromise was ratified and the Constitution written, diversity was rarely an
issue and played little to no importance in the Constitution. However, race has been one of, if not the

During the mid–1900s, several civil rights court cases and movements such as Brown v. Board of

For this, educational institutes view diversity as "as an essential resource for optimizing teaching

Also, it is beneficial in sustaining the nation's prosperity in modern–day terms of diversity and

Examples Of Tragic Flaw In Hamlet
Hamlet Essay Paper A fatal flaw refers to the key element in the precipitous decline of a plan or
person. It is an event that could cause an unexpected problem and prevent an opportunity from
accomplishing its goals and objectives. Fatal flaws can be associated with assumptions which are
difficult to establish. In literature, fatal flaw is associated with a protagonist who has a serious
character flaw which leads to their downfall. (Evans, 158). In the play Hamlet, Hamlet's tragic flaw
is his heart. He is a very clever person because he would make devious plans on finding out if King
Claudius murdered his father or not. He becomes hesitant in carrying out revenge on King Claudius
because Hamlet lacks willpower and passion. His incapability to act is indeed the tragic flaw. He
had an opportunity to kill King Claudius when praying in his chamber but he made excuses as to
why he could not destroy him. This indecisiveness leads to his downfall. He again is sent to England
by Claudius where he goes through many ordeals before his flaws lead to Claudius, Gertrude and his

Hamlet's procrastination brings in him a building anger that leads to Polonius killing. It outlines why
inability to perform is the tragic flaw of character. First, Hamlet's procrastination leads to premature
deaths of some characters throughout. In a different scene Hamlet hears noises from behind curtains.
He immediately thought it was Claudius who was spying, Hamlet passed the sword through the
curtains and stabbed Polonius who falls and dies. Hamlet's procrastination leads to this because his
emotions were built up so when he hears slightest things that might be Claudius he violently reacts
which is not a good thing because Polonius death leads to two different events that eventually cause
other characters to die. (Kliman,

Nature In Wordsworth : The Introduction Of The English...
The introduction of English Romantic Movement is credited to Wordsworth in the publication that
revealed a deep intimate experience with nature in his poetic values. He stood supreme by
pioneering the inclusion of nature in poetry. His love for nature seems tenderer from the position it
occupied differently from the casual treatment in publications of other poets (Pradip Kumar Patra
34). The publication of Lyrical Ballads symbolized Wordsworth belief of nature as an instrument of
romanticism. The incorporation of Wordsworth beliefs about nature allowed him to reveal how the
human heart derived joy. He considered nature to feature a living personality that exercised to
produce healing effects to sorrow–stricken hearts. In his publications, Wordsworth portrays nature
having moral influence over humans. In particular, he portrays it providing the best mother care that
nursed people to elevate his influence (Wesling 59). This extended to reveal the mystic intercourse
of nature that allowed human beings to grow up within her lap through moral perfection in all
aspects. Besides, Wordsworth symbolizes light in The Tables Turned as source of sweet and
freshening element allowing individuals to see and overcome dullness (Boyson 101). This again
revealed in the Ode: Imitations of Immortality, where the speaker uses the light of common day as
illuminating his soul and strengthening him to live positively (Juan 78). The presentation of nature
by Wordsworth illuminates

Strategic Plan For Canada's Growing Workforce

  • 1. Strategic Plan For Canada According to the Business Dictionary (n.d.), "the strategic plan is a broadly–defined plan aimed at creating a desired future" (para. 1). A strategic plan is a long–term plan that provides a direction for an organization's activities by defining specific aspects needed for success. A growing number of organizations realize the importance of strategic plan, and they would like to establish strategic plans to guide their performance. I consider that the strategic plan not only plays a significant role to organizations and individuals but it is also needed to determine how to balance all of their obligations. When it comes to me, as a graduating student, I am going to apply for a good career. In recent years, a growing number of graduates are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will use PEST analysis to scan the environment by analyzing local political, economic, social and technological conditions. In recent years, the Canada government has established many policies to promote employment and increase minimum wage. According to Government of Canada (2015), "the percentage of the total Canadian population who held a job (an alternative measure of how many individuals are working) increased from 41.6% in 1976 to 50.2% in 2012" (para. 2). This employment climate is a political opportunity for me. In addition, "five years after the global recession, and despite ongoing global uncertainty, Canada's economic performance continues to be among the strongest of the advanced economies. Indeed, the Canadian economy has performed well since 2009, outpacing most of its Group of Seven (G7) peers" (Government of Canada, 2015, para. 2). It shows that Canada is in a healthy economic state. Furthermore, with the development of globalization, Canada has become one of one of the most multicultural and diverse countries in the world. Government of Canada (2013) states "in 2014, Canada will welcome between 240,000 and 265,000 new permanent residents who will contribute to the Canadian economy. The 2014 Immigration Levels Plan reinforces the Government of Canada's commitment to jobs and economic growth" (para. 1). It reveals that the Canadian government will address labor markets needs and provide more work chances to new immigrants. In conclusion, the Canadian political, economic, social and technological conditions are good now, and it is a good time to start my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While interviewing them, however, I was able to learn about their experiences; how they all had different paths and ended up at the same place and industry, Superdome Sports. Nancy Walters, the program director at Superdome Sports, was the first person I interviewed. As the program director, her responsibilities are to nurture and develop new and existing programs. She also has the responsibility of developing relations with outside parties, such as schools, PTO's, recreation departments, and other parties that will allow business to flow into the organization. Nancy is very positive, outgoing, and an overall nice person to be around. She lightens everyone's mood when she walks through the door. Although she is working in this industry more as a way to build her public relations and business skills for her own company, I am still able to see how dedicated she is at anything she does. • 3. Donald Trump Dbq On November 9, it was announced that Donald Trump would be president. This essay isn't entirely about Donald Trump, but rather about one of the reasons why he was elected: he's not afraid to "tell it like it is" rather than worry about being politically correct. One of the complaints from the millions of people who voted for Trump is that America is too politically correct, almost to the point that it infringes on free speech. Whether this is true or not is debatable. In an article from The Washington Post, Cathy Cuthbertson, a Trump supporter, said, ""You know, I couldn't say 'Merry Christmas.' And when we wrote things, we couldn't even say 'he' or 'she,' because we had transgender. People of color. I mean, we had to watch every word that came out of our mouth, because we were afraid of offending someone,"(Tumulty and Johnson). Cuthbertson's feelings embody much of those who oppose political correctness. Most of the oppositions to political corrections stem from the argument ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He appeals to this dislike of political correctness, "They have put political correctness above common sense, above your safety above all else," he said regarding Obama and Hillary Clinton (Weigel). He takes anti–political correctness to the extremes, as he disregarded political correctness through his actions in his campaign. He "tells it like it is," no matter how offensive. These are just a few quotes from him this campaign season: "You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever," regarding Megan Kelly, "Look at that face. Would anybody vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president? I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not s'posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?" regarding Carly Fiorina, and "They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists" regarding Mexican immigrants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Bay Of Pigs Research Paper Bay of Pigs: An American Embarrassment The day of April 17, 1961, was nothing short of a horrific, albeit shameful period for President John F. Kennedy and America. The infamous Operation Pluto, known as The Bay of Pigs, intended to overthrow and assassinate President Fidel Castro, was, without debate, a disastrous ploy to protect U.S. interests. Accounts of just how tragic the event was can be found in a book written by Howard Jones, The Bay of Pigs: "When the tank commanders finally called off the assault, 'we heard the yelling of the wounded,'. . . "There was a concert of the dying." Understanding what took place on that day, as well as why, boils down to more than just the events of that one era. Therefore, a close look dating back to 1898, must be taken to truly comprehend why the U.S. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the Cuban election of 1947, Carlos Prio quickly became known as "the most polarized, corrupt, violent, and undemocratic" president in history (Sweig 5). His atrocities prompted General Batista to carry out a coup that would put him in power, backed by the States. The relationship between Batista, Cuba, and the U.S. was one of complete economic gain. Despite the violent uproar President Batista's coup had sparked, America continued to back and use him to establish an economic stronghold in Cuba. However, Fidel Castro, a young lawyer slated to run for the presidency pre–Batista chose to mount a revolution against him, calling it M267. "As the M267's military strength solidified beginning in the summer of 1985, it became possible for the movement to relate to the broad anti–Batista opposition from a position of political strength" (Sweig 10). • 5. Conspiracy Theories By Maggie Koerth Baker Summary Conspiracy theories Maggie Koerth Baker's piece titled Why rational people buy into conspiracy theories represents the reasons why rational people believe in conspiracy theories. Throughout the article Baker tries to explain the reasons behind the belief of conspiracy theories supported by research and evidence. This paper will review Baker's article as well as her main arguments, will evaluate the quality of Baker's writing and focus on any areas of weakness within the article. In her introduction Baker uses the example of Boston bombings to describe the theories formed by people in the happening of an event. There are two reasons why people believe in conspiracy theories. Firstly, due to psychological reasons and secondly because they believe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether conspiracy theories are formed due to psychological reasons or the media is still unclear. The conclusion of the article is too vague. After giving all the examples and evidence to prove that powerlessness and uncertainty causes conspiracy theories she provides an incomplete conclusion. She fails to encompass how these conspiracy theories would affect the lives of people and why they should care about conspiracy theories. Moreover, she fails to provide contrary evidence on the subject matter. However, the essay achieves its effectiveness and credibility by including real life examples given by the writer to support media theory and by using the work of scientists and psychologists to persuade the readers. Additionally, she also uses compelling anecdotal evidence to support her argument that the brain of a rational person forms these conspiracy theories as it is a human tendency to latch onto interpretation of facts as they become available. The writer also uses scientific terms like amygdala and theories such as 'confirmation bias and the 'backfire effect' to persuade the readers that conspiracy theories are formed by rational people due to psychological reasons. In conclusion, even though Baker uses credible and compelling evidence to support her argument, she does not succeed in answering why non–American should actually care about conspiracy theories in general. Baker fails to justify her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Mental Illness: A Case Study In pursuing a PhD at University of Texas El Paso, I seek to address a broad question: Is our correctional system equipped to successfully manage and improve outcomes for mentally ill offenders supervised in the community? One particularly disheartening conclusion that I reached from my educational experiences as an undergraduate and graduate student was that mental illness is still not well understood by professionals and lay persons alike. Much was–and is–still to be discovered about accurate and reliable diagnosis, effective treatment, and successful integration of people with mental illness in our communities. In my pursuit of knowledge on this topic, I quickly discovered an even more troubling reality that people with mental illness are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also considered how our overburdened justice system and societal stigma influences the general public's responses to mentally ill individuals in the community and wondered how the system could be improved. If mentally ill offenders face challenges in institutional confinement, what happens when they live in the community and similar issues arise? How does the training and expertise of our community corrections officers affect supervision outcomes for this population? I wonder what researchers and policy makers can do to better inform practitioners about how to manage and improve outcomes of mentally disordered offenders supervised in the ... There are more cars on the road today, and because of this we experience higher levels of pollution than before. The automobile is probably the leading contributor pollution in our cities. They release toxic emissions into our atmosphere. Automobiles are linked particularly to carbon monoxide pollution. They are noisy (especially if you are living near the highway), and they take up valuable space in the form of vast parking lots that are unpleasing to the eye. Americans are known for our passion for the automobile. The automobile symbolizes freedom and independence. Freedom is the backbone of our country. Many of our historical documents were written with freedom as the major theme. For example, the declaration of independence proposes freedom from an oppressive government. Freedom is a concept that most Americans take pride in. For this reason, the automobile is attractive to us. If you own your own automobile, you are free to go any place you like whenever you want. You suddenly become independent and you no longer have to rely on other people for rides. This is a common feeling among 16–year–olds. With the acquisition of the drivers license comes a whole new world of opportunity and responsibility. Another factor to be considered is the American concept of time. Time is money. Because of this we are usually in a hurry, so we hop in our cars and off we go, late for some sort of an appointment. We could use alternate forms of transportation like busses or railways which decrease pollution by decreasing the total number of cars on our roads, but these forms of transportation are not as convenient as driving ourselves. After all, time is money and I'm late for a class. I don't have time to wait for the bus. Is this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I wasn't necessarily the kid who was born with a ball in his hand; but, I was pretty close. The first time I caught a pass–playing touch football with some older boys in my neighborhood–I was hooked. I remember running as fast as I possibly could, ignorant of the straining pain in my legs and lungs, not looking back for a second, certain that someone would touch me at any moment, but caring only about the goal line getting closer and closer. The costs of becoming a player in the game would greatly outweigh any benefits government involvement would bring. Furthermore, using federal or state money to subsidize and incentivize sports would not stop at giving teams additional capital; such funding opens the door for government involvement in the sports themselves. The military is a great example of a government program that returns a greater benefit than the funding of sports would. The support of the military is what allows the community to enjoy professional and collegiate sports. Ensuring the military has the financial support it needs and even paying the military members more for their service enforces the privilege of sports. Increased staff of police and firefighters would benefit at the community level. The recent barrage of gun violence warrants the need for increased regulation via police and fire. Restricting funding or not providing more funds to the beforementioned programs or others like healthcare, education, transportation, and community centers to support sports would switch a focus on community that promotes health and safety to one that promotes entertainment. In addition, there is not a great return on investment for the government to subsidize and incentivize sports. Per Forbes, the most profitable sports league, the NFL, had its teams earn an average net profit of $91 million in 2016 before taxes and interest. Many of these teams are billion–dollar franchises. Religious Freedom In Healthcare Essay Affordable Healthcare vs. Religious Freedom Jenna Cox Fairleigh Dickinson University Abstract One of the latest changes in President Barack Obama's Affordable Healthcare is that all employers' must cover contraceptives, more specifically birth control. Their has been backlash towards this new requirement stating that forcing employers to cover birth control violates the Religious Freedom Act of 1993 since contraceptives may go against their beliefs. The government is allowed to intercept in the least intrusive way if it protects the government's interests and the general population. Since the government is not forcing any one to consume birth control, there are no rights being violated against religious freedom. Everyone has to be concerned with deadlines, with performance, with interpersonal communication. With each decision comes the potential for repercussions which could cost the company money, time, energy, and lead to the expansion or destruction of the company as a whole and the loss of employment of a single individual or of all those employed in the most dire of situations. In fact, according to Rebecca Maxon (1999), "three out of every four American workers describe their work as stressful." It is therefore no surprise that in a place with so much stress and where the stakes are so high, things can become tense and, if the wrong sets of conditions are met, violence can break out. Incidences of workplace violence are more prolific than ever before and the costs are greater with people being assaulted (simple assault is the most common act of workplace violence), harassed, battered, and even murdered. This may seem a dramatic escalation from traditional workplace stress, but it is a very real possibility. It is an event that could cause an unexpected problem and prevent an opportunity from accomplishing its goals and objectives. Fatal flaws can be associated with assumptions which are difficult to establish. In literature, fatal flaw is associated with a protagonist who has a serious character flaw which leads to their downfall. (Evans, 158). In the play Hamlet, Hamlet's tragic flaw is his heart.
