Health Care costs have been growing at an unsustainable rate. Reaching an estimated 17.3 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2009, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), representing the largest one-year increase in history when the nation itself was in the midst of the “great recession.” Predictions are for health care costs to be 19.3 percent of GDP in 2019 (four times the 5.1 percent of GDP in 1960). Despite the high cost of health care, gaps and inequities persisted, leading to health care reform. The 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), or commonly Affordable Care Act (ACA) is attempting to change the US health care system from a volume-based to a value-based model.

Good Managers (Leaders)
This deals with the application of the concepts, principles, theories and methods of developing nursing leaders and managers in the hospital and community-based settings.
Organizations that use a Balanced Scorecard approach tend to outperform organizations without a formal approach to strategic performance measurement
- World-class companies are 159% more likely to have mature BSC in place than less successful organizations
- Among 164 publicly traded companies, those with well-deployed BSC outperformed the control group by nearly 30% (Advances in Accounting, 2008)
- Organizations using BSC outperform the other companies by about 100 percent in having everyone in the organization understand what the organization's strategy is (Norton, The Strategy-Focused Organization, 2000)
The Talent Management Navigator Performance ManagementSeta Wicaksana
Effective Performance Management supports the achievement of both individual and business objectives. Through the Performance Management Process:
Employees understand how the work they are doing supports the broader goals of the organization
Employees understand what is expected of them, how they’re performing against those expectations, and how they can continue to improve their performance and contributions to advance their own career and business objectives
Managers provide feedback and coaching throughout the year to support employees in sustaining and improving their performance and developing their capabilities in alignment with their career goals
Employees and managers maintain on-going communications about performance and development progress and use the Company’s approved documents and/or technology to document progress
