A crusher is a machine deigned to reduce large rocks into a smaller
rocks, gravels, or rock dust.
Crusher may be used to reduce the size, or change the form, of waste
material so they can more easily disposed of or recycled, or to reduced
the size of a solid mix of raw material .

1. A Crusher uses compressive force for braking the particle.
2. This mechanical pressure is achieved by the two jaws of crusher of which one is fixed
while other reciprocate.
3. It has three types :

II.II. Dodge crusherDodge crusher : The sawing jaw fixed at lower portion.

1. It consist of a concave surface & a conical head; both surface are
typically lined with manganese steel surface.
2. It mainly used in mine or ore processing plant.

1. It is mainly used for crushing a variety of mid-hard & above mid-hard ores & rocks.
2. It has advantage of reliable construction, high productivity, easy adjustment, &
lower operational cost.
3. It has four types :
I.I. COMPOUND CONE CRUSHERCOMPOUND CONE CRUSHER : It can crush material of over medium
hardness. It mainly used in mining, chemical industry, road & bridge construction
etc.
II.II. SYMONS CONE CRUSHERSYMONS CONE CRUSHER : It can crush material of above medium
hardness. It is widely used in metallurgy, hydropower, transportation, chemical
industries etc.
III.III. SINGLE CYLINDER HYDRAULIC CONE CRUSHERSINGLE CYLINDER HYDRAULIC CONE CRUSHER : It mainly
composed of main frame, transmission device, eccentric shaft, bowl-shaped
bearing, crushing cone, mantle, bowl liner etc.
IV.IV. MULTI CYLINDER HYDRAULIC CONE CRUSHERMULTI CYLINDER HYDRAULIC CONE CRUSHER : It mainly consist of
main frame, eccentric shaft, crushing cone, mantle, bowl liner, dust ring,
hydraulic control system etc.
IMPACT CRUSHERIMPACT CRUSHER
 Impact crusher involve the use of impact rather than pressure of crush
material.
 It has two types :
I.I. HORIZONTAL SHAFT IMPACTORHORIZONTAL SHAFT IMPACTOR : It breaks rock by impacting
rock with hammers that are fixed upon the outer edge of a spinning
rotor.
II.II. VERTICAL SHAFT IMPACTORVERTICAL SHAFT IMPACTOR : It use a different approach
involving a high speed rotor with wear resistance tips & a crushing
chamber designed to throw the rock against.
INDUSTRIAL USEINDUSTRIAL USE
 Mining operation use crushers, commonly classified by the degree to which they
fragment the starting material, with primary & secondary crushers handling
coarse materials, & tertiary crusher reducing ore particle to finer gradation.
 Each crusher is designed to work with a certain maximum size of raw material ,
& often delivers its output to a screening machine which sorts & direct the
product for further processing.
