This reference letter is provided for Stephen Yen. Stephen interned at Kaiser Permanente’s
Sales, Marketing, & Administration office in Burbank under my supervision during the summer
of 2016. Kaiser Permanente is an integrated managed care organization, based in Oakland, CA
with regional offices in Pasadena, CA and operates in 8 states and the District of Columbia.
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan is one of the largest not for profit organizations in the United
States. As of December 31, 2015, Kaiser Permanente had 10.2 million health plan members,
186,497 employees, 18,652 physicians, 51,010 nurses, 38 medical centers, and 622 medical
offices. For the quality of his work, I recommend Stephen Yen to all future employers.
The Greater Los Angeles Account Management department consists of 31 team members. Our
department is responsible for retention, increasing membership, and the sale of new products
and services for existing accounts in assigned book of business to achieve membership, revenue
and margin targets in the Greater Los Angeles service area. The Greater Los Angeles service
area consists of Metro Los Angeles, Panorama City, Antelope Valley, Woodland Hills, and
Western Ventura.
I managed Stephen Yen through his 10 weeks with the team. His projects included creating a
market plan for our Greater Los Angeles Service area, assembling a market initiative tracking
plan, as well as providing a comprehensive market analysis on the service areas that are
managed by our Account Management team. During that time, Stephen i, his familiarity with
dynamic markets, and most importantly, his ability to analyze the market from different
perspectives and without clear set of guidelines in the instructions.
Stephen’s analytical work and recommendations, demonstrated in his market plan for Greater
Los Angeles, provided our team with a strategizing blueprint that has served as a valuable,
evolving document. He was able to complete all the projects in a detailed and timely manner
and could work independently without close supervision when appropriate, going beyond what
was instructed. Stephen’s market plan, market initiative tracking plan, and his
recommendations are examples of his knowledge of various sales, marketing, and business
processing concepts. As part of the INROADS program, he had the opportunity to present the
market plan to a panel of Kaiser Permanente leaders and executives. He presented the detailed

plan clearly, concisely, and with an intimate knowledge of the information – amazing in the
short amount of time he spent with us.
During his time here, Stephen has proved himself to be an innovative, dependable, and a hard-
working and driven team player capable of self-directed and group work. He has my
recommendation for roles that require organization, clear communication, data analysis, and
most importantly, a confident personality. He will be a tremendous asset to any organization. If
