STATEMENT OF RESEARCH INTERESTS
Nano science is now a multidisciplinary field. It is a basic provider of the nano scale ‘building
blocks’ and an enabler of the nanotechnology. Perfection of the building blocks is a foremost
goal.Nano science together with nanophysics and nano chemistry take strength when they face
challenges of humanity. It is indeed, comparable to a visionary mission, considering that nano
science can provide answers to our societal problems in an unprecedented way. Added to this,
Material Science is an area which can render support to develop new materials of the nano
scale dimensions. With my academic research background from the field of laser spectroscopy,
I can possibly propose to undertake the following challenging areas of studies in research
activity, namely, (a)Solar Cells, (b)Medical Diagnostics, (c)Medical Disease Treatment, (d)Safe
Gas Storage Materials,(e)Environmental Remediation, (f)Separation Technologies, (g)Nano
toxicology,(h)Quantum Information Materials, (i)Chemical Detection and (j)Nano composites.
I will now give a brief explain the facets of the various topics of research study.
(a)In the field of solar cells, I would like to study a new design of nano materials for an
improved light harvesting and will like also to improve the photon-to-electron conversion
efficiency.
(b)In the research area of medical diagnostics, I would like to work on (i) molecular imaging of
tissues for functional imaging and diagnosis and (ii) I would like to design a Zero-cost basic
diagnostics kit for the developing world.
2
(c)Based on the physical properties of nano scale materials, I would like to design a new disease
treatment protocol for cancer, virus based diseases and artherosclerosis. Besides, I would like
to develop 100% efficient drug-delivery carriers and coupling of diagnostic capabilities and
treatment within the same nano material.
(d)I would like to design new engineering nano material for a room-temperature and a low-
pressure storage of hydrogen, carbon-di-oxide and methane.
(e)Our environment needs a clean-up of the toxic chemicals and elements. Hence, I would like
to find new materials for sequestration and a thorough clean-up.
(f)Using nano science, nano physics and nano chemistry in particular, water-purification
materials can be found and a cost-effective desalination plant will be designed.
(g)A thorough understanding of the nano toxicology, that is, impact on human beings by using
nano materials is required and I intend to do research this area also.
(h)Material science research is very useful in designing new materials for ‘spintronics’ field of
study and also helpful for ‘quantum computation’.
(i)Nano science can be used to find low-cost molecule and toxin detection platforms for remote
settings and for large-scale screenings.
(j)Nano science can be used to design a low-cost ultra hard materials and to design engineering
synergetic material properties by using mixtures of nano scale ‘building blocks’.
3
If I can succeed in alteast fifty percent of my set goals, my accomplishments in research activity
would certainly be substantial and also useful to the society.
My thanks are due to Ludovico Cademartiri and Geoffrey A.Ozin for the inspiration.
Looking forward to an opportunity to do research work.
Thanks for reading this statement patiently.
