Examples Of Lying In Huckleberry Finn
Lying is known as a bad thing, but sometimes it can be used for good. Dishonesty just depends on how
you utilize it. In the story, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain you will see lying
happening very often. When Huckleberry Finn lies it is usually for a good purpose. While the king and
duke use it for more greedy reasons. Huckleberry Finn was a very caring character to me. He used his
lying for the good things in life. Everybody in their lifetime lies at some point, and hopefully most of
the time it s for the better. For example, Huck was often lying to protect or help his friend Jim. In
particular, when Huck and Jim stumble across a couple of men Huck tells them that it is just his family
aboard the raft. He also tells them that his family has smallpox so they won t catch Jim as a runaway
slave and get him in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Huck is also stuck in the situation of turning Jim in or not. He knows that turning Jim in would be
honest, but he also doesn t want to let his friend down. Huck did choose the lying side of it, but once
again it was to protect Jim. He cares about Jim and doesn t want to see anything happen to him, so he
would rather just tell little lies to keep Jim out of trouble. Not only does Huck lie for unselfish reasons,
but he also feels very bad when he does lie. For instance, Huck feels very dishonest for lying to Mary
Jane and her sisters. Huckleberry Finn feels bad that the sisters have given these two frauds all the
money and property, so he decides to tell Mary Jane the truth about them. Don t you holler. Just set
still, and take it like a man. I got to tell the truth, and you want to brace up, Miss Mary, because it s a
bad kind, and going to be hard to take, but there ain t no help for it. These uncles of yourn ain t no
uncles at all they re a couple of frauds regular dead beats. There, now we re over the worst of it you

Taking a Look Back at Smallville
The series Smallville takes place is a small farm town of the same name. Twelve years before the
show begins the town was affected by a meteor shower. The meteors brought the main character,
Clark, to planet Earth; he was found by an older couple, Jonathan and Martha Kent, who weren t able
to have children. Clark is no ordinary boy though, he has the powers of Superman; the super strength,
and fast speed. Throughout the show we see him wear all three of Superman colors red, yellow, and
blue. The television takes the audience twelve years after the meteor shower struck Smallville and
shows how the town is still being affected by red and green kryptonite. The series Buffy the Vampire
Slayer takes place in a small town Sunnydale, which is above the hellmouth. Buffy who is the main
character, became a vampire slayer when she turned fifteen. She has the duties to protect her town,
and save the world from vampires, and demons taking over. Her parents are divorced, she is taken care
of by her mother and her watcher Giles.
Over the past decades, the outtake of what a superhero is, what superheroes do, and how they look like
has changed drastically. Superheroes as Dream Doubles written by James Whitlark focuses on just
that, the changes from the Golden Age to the newer Bronze Age. Whitlark covers how people get the
idea of what a superhero is made they see in themselves at least two individuals a present self greatly

The Initiation Of 3 D Printing
Initiation of 3 D printing took place in end 1980s. Fundamentals of 3 D printing were laid by Japanese
Professor. Although he was not able to contribute 100% with his idea, but later on, Mr. Charles Huck
carried on with this idea and finally came up with a machine that can create prototypes. Later he also
co founded a 3 D manufacturing company that is right now one of the largest 3 D company in the
world and contributes a lot to modern era problems. After this initiative, progress on additive
manufacturing process or 3 D printing got started, and since then, it became one of the most important
sector of science, specifically engineering, as it have produced a lot of useful results and have also
simplified some lengthy tasks, transforming them into efficient, accurate and cost effective activity.
As discussed in introduction about types of 3 D printers and variety of industries where they can be
used, explanations regarding these aspects are as follows:
i. STEREO LITHOGRAPHY (SLA) ii. FUSED DEPOSITION MODELLING iii. SELECTIVE
LASER SINTERING (SLS) iv. MULTI JET MODELLING (MJM)
v. VFLASH PRINTER vi. FUSED FILAMENT FABRICATION (FFF) OR FUSED DEPOSTION
MODELLING (FDM)
Fundamentals of all types of printers stated above are same. As prototypes are printed layer by layer,
so certain dimensions are required by printers to print that part. As all designing activities are
performed on computer and computers are used to directly send commands to printers, defining actual

Essay on Gabriel García Márquez s One Hundred Years of...
Gabriel García Márquez s One Hundred Years of Solitude
By far, Garcia Marquez s most acclaimed work is Cien Anos de Soledad or One Hundred Years of
Solitude. As Regina Janes asserts, his fellow novelists recognized in the novel a brilliant evocation of
many of their own concerns: a total novel that treated Latin America socially, historically, politically,
mythically, and epically, that was at once accessible and intricate, lifelike and self consciously, self
referentially fictive. lt;4 gt; In it, the totality of Latin American society and history is expressed. Upon
first reading, the novel appears to relate a regional history of the town of Macondo and the many
generations of Buendias that inhabit it. This local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gabriel Garcia Marquez has dealt with historical themes in several of his fictions, but in One Hundred
Years of Solitude, the author makes a statement about history and the importance of historical
consciousness. In this paper, the view of history expressed by Gabriel Garcia Marquez in One
Hundred Years of Solitude will be the focus.
Circularity and Repetition
History is represented in two different ways in One Hundred Years of Solitude: the way in which the
characters experience it, and the method in which it actually develops. The characters are caught
between the pressures of past and present, and from their perspective everything is repeating itself
cyclically. [They] see the past in general as part of the circular pattern of recurring events and in
particular, as filled with negative personal experiences which they do everything possible to repress.
lt;6 gt; This presentation of time and history as repetitious is obvious to the reader, but she would be
deceived to believe it is the way in which history really is progressing. Still, the cyclic structure of the
novel is an important part of its historical analysis.
In her article entitled Cien Ados de Soledad, Historia y Mito de lo Americano (One Hundred Years of
Solitude, History and Myth of the American ), Fanny Carrion de Fierro asserts that the symbolic one
hundred years of Macondo s time are divided into two historic periods which repeat themselves.

Who Was Responsible For The Titanic Disaster
The Question: Who/what was responsible for the Titanic disaster? There are two things that I, myself,
think carry responsibility for the wrecking of the magnificent ship, The Titanic. The first one was that
I think that the captain was responsible in one way because he didn t think that the ship could sink, on
page eighteen, it states, Besides, what danger could a few pieces of ice present to an unsinkable ship? .
It shows how the captain thought it couldn t be conquered. Secondly, the captain ignored seven of
them. Seven! He would have to have a very large amount of confidence to ignore that many. Last, but
not least, is that on page twenty, it says that the captain didn t think that the lookout needed binoculars.

Javert Rebellion Quotes
After being set free for an act of crime he has committed, Javert realizes that his ideals on duty and
that all criminals are unjust may not be as absolute as he once believed. After capturing JVJ for the
first time, he makes it his life goal to put an end to JVJ. He follows him around Europe and even
becomes a spy to see JVJ. When he get s caught for being a spy by the revolutionaries in the war, he is
sentenced to death and JVJ is the one to kill him. However, JVJ only pretends to kill him, and he lets
Javert free. Javert knows that getting killed would have been the right thing to do according to the law,

Javert s ideas were overturned. (pg 530/531) Javert depicts his thoughts as a rebellion because they are
going against his lifelong beliefs and it begins to irritate him . He knows that having one distinct
outcome for anyone who has committed a crime would be the easy way out of things, but he is unable
to control himself from now thinking that there is more than one right answer. He had always believed
that strict authority and giving people sentences was the right call for every case he had, but now these
phrases show less of an impact due to his overturned ideas. It is in this moment that Hugo shows the
change that is brewing within Javert, as he is beginning to not only realize that there is more that one
solution to those who commit crimes, but he s beginning to make an effort to perform actions that
show he does believe in second chances. Javert knows that time is running out and he must make a
decision on what to do with JVJ

The Fractal Geometry Method of English Teaching in Kazakhstan
(Inspired by Mandelbrot s Chaos Theory) Almost all the second language learners in Kazakhstan have
the same schedule every day. They go to schools or universities where lessons are held in Russian or
in Kazakh, they attend additional classes to prepare for the exams also in Russian or may be in Kazakh
sometimes, they are on the job working mainly in Russian, they go to their English classes, may be
they start speaking English a little bit, but then they go home and revert back to their native tongue
again. May be they are making slow improvements in speaking English, but still it is not enough to be
fluent in English. The biggest problem for Kazakhstan students is that they almost never speak
English in their everyday lives. They can do it only attending English classes and only if their teacher
creates such opportunity, so that students can practice oral speech. Passive listening is okay, but
interacting is even better. It is of vital importance for the teachers to have students speak in the target
language as much as they can, stick to English. That is why teachers of the English in Kazakhstan
need practical, easy to implement, effective methods to increase the use of the English in the
classroom. One of the most effective methods for improving speaking skills is Fractal Geometry
method. The teacher provides students with How to questions and students need to write instructions
on how to perform everyday activities (How to cook perfect rice for 4 people?

Cool Hand Luke s Relationship
There are many movies that make the contrast of the lives of prisoners and their guards. So often do
we see a colorful group of people who struggle under the control of a tyrannical leader, struggling to
keep both their spirits and sanity up. Cool Hand Luke is not an exception to these films. However, it
does contain a main character with a nonchalant type attitude that irks his superiors and earns respect
from his fellow prisoners, which is not often seen. This leads to him becoming a very popular
character in the prison, specifically to his new admirer Dragline. Dragline the former head honcho
among the prisoners grew quite fond of Luke due to his admiration for Luke s coolness. This new
relationship would cause Dragline as well as Luke ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third time he escaped was when everybody believed he had thrown in the towel. On a day
working in the trenches Luke was told to fetch the sniper from the truck (Rosenberg, Caroll, 1967). He
used this opportunity to steal the truck and escape for a third and final time. Dragline also saw this as
an opportunity and jumped on the truck as it sped away. Luke and Dragline made it to a river to hide
the truck and Dragline talks about how Luke fooled the bosses. Luke replies you can t fool them about
something like that, they broke me (Rosenberg, Caroll, 1967). Revealing that he was truly made to
conform to the Captains norms under his power, and still ultimately chose to not conform and give
escape another try (DeLamatter, Myers, 2011). They continue to talk and Dragline talks to Luke and
says If I hadn t lost my head I only had a couple of years to do (Rosenberg, Caroll, 1967). Showing
that Dragline suffered a distortion of action. He knew that it would be wise to stay and finish out his
sentence but, he was caught up in with Luke s assuredness. This is reflective of the Stanford Prison
Study. Although all through the movie we see that Dragline s core belief is that he should stay within
the laws of the captain he breaks these beliefs to escape with Luke (Glavin, 2015a). In the prison study
we saw afterwards that almost all the participants acted differently than they would in their everyday
lives. Luke and

Japan And Its Effects On Japan
Japan unlike many other countries has thrived on globalization. Japanese companies have investments
all over the world, Japan exports modern technology such as new and innovative vehicles, and Japan s
people tourist in many iconic places outside of their country. But at the same time, globalization is
hurting Japan. Globalization in Japan has led the country into issues with pollution. An overflow of
waste incineration sites and construction, and also the butchery of Whales. These matters have steered
Japan into harming its environment. Japan owns 70% of the world s waste incinerators which come
with the main benefit of being able to burn garbage instead of having it piled up in dumps. With this
intention, it poses threats to anybody nearby the facilities because they re so many. Additionally, Japan
has only given the public very vague or unsatisfactory reasons for their slaughter of Whales such as
using very broad terms like science and ineffectual arguments like tradition. This killing is putting the
Whales species in very dire danger. Not to mention that the vast amount of construction taking place
in Japan in years could lead the way to deforestation if it hasn t already. At the same time, Japan has
its reasons for using so many waste incinerators, massacring Whales, and to assemble buildings over
and over so much. Waste incinerators provide hot water, electricity, and material for construction. As
stated already, the Japanese government claims they re whaling for

Miliary Tuberculosis
Clinical manifestations of miliary tuberculosis are nonspecific and wide ranging, depends on the
predominant site of involvement. Fever, night sweats, anorexia, weakness and weight loss are
presenting symptoms in the majority of cases. Occurrence of daily morning temperature spikes is
reported to be characteristic of miliary TB5. Patients have cough and other respiratory symptoms due
to pulmonary involvement. Physical findings include hepatomegaly, splenomegaly and
lymphadenopathy. Eye examination may reveal choroidal tubercles, which are pathognomic of miliary
TB, in up to 30% of cases. Various hematologic abnormalities may be seen, including anaemia with
leukopenia, lymphopenia, neutrophilic leukocytosis and leukemoid reactions, and polycythemia. ...

Bronchoalveolar lavage and transbronchial biopsy are more likely to provide bacteriologic
confirmation, and granulomas are evident in liver or bone marrow biopsy specimens from many
patients. If it goes unrecognized, miliary TB is lethal; with proper early treatment, however, it is
amenable to cure. The following criteria have been proposed for the diagnose of miliary TB6: (1)
clinical presentation consistent with the diagnosis of TB like pyrexia with evening rise of temperature,
night sweats, anorexia and weight loss of greater than 6weeks in duration responding to
antituberculosis treatment; (2) typical miliary pattern on hest radiograph; (3) bilateral, diffuse
reticulonodular lung lesions on a background of miliary shadows demonstrable either on chest
radiograph or HRCT scan and (4) microbiological or histopathological evidence of TB. Non parasitic
causes of pulmonary eosinophilia include miliary tuberculosis, Wegner granulomatosis, sarcoidosis
and drug reactions, tropical pulmonary eosinophilia etc. There are some diseases like JOB s syndrome
in which there is hypereosinophilia, eczema, recurrent skin and pulmonary infections (like miliary
tuberculosis) apart from other

Luxembourg Research Paper
Luxembourgs flag is divided into three equal size stripes of red, white and blue. The colours
originated from the 13th century coat of arms used by the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. The coat of
arms displays a red lion with a striped blue and white background. In the 13th century the country had
a banner that represented the dukes of Luxembourg not the nations people. Luxembourg declared its in
dependence from Germany in 1835 and officially designed their flag ten years later. This flag is
similar to the flag of Netherlands with the exception of having a lighter shade of blue on the bottom
strip. The flag was not influenced by the Netherlands but instead by the flag of France.
Luxembourgs population is very diverse with their ethnic groups and age. The country has 44% of
people ages 25 54 which is the majority of the population . The second largest age group are children
under the age of 14 making up almost 17% of the population with the smallest age group as adults 55

Walmart and the Elements of Business
Walmart and the Elements of Its Business
Molly Taylor
American Intercontinental University
Walmart and the Elements of Its Business The history of Walmart is quite interesting and goes all the
way back to the 1960 s. Walmart was started by a man named Sam Walton and his brother. Mr. Walton
had a degree in economics and used this degree to secure a management trainee position at JC Penny
s. With his degree and experience he gained working at JC Penny s he, along with his brother, opened
a Ben Franklin store. By the late 50 s they owned 9 Ben Franklin franchises.
Mr. Walton and his brother had a vision to bring large retail stores with low, low prices to small towns.
They took this idea to Ben Franklin franchise owners ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been said in the recent past that Walmart says they treat their employees well but there have
been cases recently where this was found not to be true unfortunately.
Treating employees unfairly could have a negative economic impact on the community because if
workers aren t treated fairly then no one wants to work for the company that s not treating their
employees well. Which then has a domino effect because chances are, if that s the case, then people
will begin to bash Walmart driving consumers away to possibly purchase from other retailers. This
would not be a positive economic environment at all and the chances of the business failing would be
pretty good.
To best maintain a thriving legal, social and economical environment Walmart needs to have in place a
good management structure and for the most part I think they do. If they didn t they would not have
risen to be one of the largest retailers in the world over the past almost 50 years. They have a company
wide management structure that all stores abide by. This structure includes planning and promotions,
goal setting amongst employees, organizing how operations flow on a day to day basis, directing its
employees and controlling finances. In order to operate Walmart has to provide services to consumers
and make a profit off providing these services. To do that Walmart must constantly stay on top of how
the stores are run on a daily basis. To operate a business and be

Significance Of Shake Hands With The Devil
Shake Hands with the Devil The movie Shake Hands with the Devil is a true story about the brutal
history of the Rwandan genocide. It is originally a book that was written by Romeo Dallaire; who is a
Canadian humanitarian, and retired senator, that served as a force commander of UNAMIR (United
Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda). The movie shows tragic scenes of how the feud between the
Hutus and Tutsis affected their way of living harshly. Overall, the validity of the film is quite high,
however, it contains some additional incorrect facts. Therefore, the accuracy of most of the
information in Shake Hands with the Devil is reliable.

since I know about what happened in the Rwandan genocide, I found this movie interesting and have a
lot of opinions to share or analyze. I think the film displays the brutality that is in some people s hearts
perfectly. I also think I can relate the history of the genocide to current situations around the world like
in Syria, or Yemen. These two countries do not have the same history as the Rwandan genocide,
however the fact that there are many fundamentalists involved in the killing of numerous people in the
three countries relates them ideally. Therefore, I enjoyed watching Shake Hands with the Devil ,

The Influenza Pandemic of 1918 Essay
The influenza pandemic of 1918 had not only altered the lives of thousands, but the habitual lives of
family and work as well. The Spanish Influenza collected more lives than all of the casualties of war
in the twentieth century combined. After the disease had swept through the nation, towns that once
began their days in lazy, comfortable manners had begun to struggle to get through a single day. What
started as a mild neglect of a typical fever or case of chills had escalated and grown at an alarmingly
rapid rate to be fearsome and tragic. The influenza spread through the simplest means of a welcoming
handshake, a gentle touch, or the lightest kiss. Anna Milani, a survivor of the disease, solemnly

Homemade remedies were not uncommon and varied from necklaces of garlic to the distinct scents of

further away from the pandemic or had spare bedrooms that better the chances of surviving. Family
members that passed away were denied a proper church service as a method of slowing the spread of
influenza; only immediate members of the family were allowed a small and rather quick procession
alongside the coffin. Ministers and priests were scarce and hardly had the time to attend every
procession thus leaving it to the remaining mourners albeit the mother, father, brother or sister to give
an offer of prayer and bow their heads in sorrow of their departure of their loved ones. Face to face

Essay on The Trial of Socrates
Socrates was accused of being a sophist because he was engaging in inquiries into things beneath the
earth and in the heavens, of making the weaker argument appear the stronger, and teaching others
these same things. (Apology, Plato, Philosophic Classics page 21) Socrates is also accused of denying
the existence of the gods, and corrupting the youth. Socrates goes about trying to prove his innocence.
The jury that Socrates was tried by was made up of 501 Athenian citizens of all classes of society.
While he fails to convince the Athenian jury of his innocence, he does a wonderful job in this effort. I
personally believe that Socrates is innocent, and that the Athenian jury made the wrong decision.

Socrates tells a story in an attempt to explain this. It starts with a man named Chaerephon, a well
respected citizen of Athens, who had died recently. Chaerephon goes to the Oracle at Delphi and he
asked if there was anyone wiser than Socrates. (Apology, Plato, Philosophic Classics, page 23) The
Oracle, of course, says that there is no man wiser than Socrates. When Socrates heard of what the
Oracle said, he begins to wonder what riddle is hidden in those words. He knows that he is not a wise
man, so he knows that he cannot be the wisest of men. Not knowing what then Oracle truly meant, he
goes out to investigate this. He went to a man who was reputed to be very wise. He thought that he
would find a man who is wiser than himself, and thus point out to the Oracle its mistake. Socrates
finds that this man actually knows nothing that is worth knowing. When Socrates tries to point this out
to the man, he and the bystanders become angry. Socrates says that he is wiser than this man because,
while they both know nothing, Socrates realizes this. The other man thinks he knows things that he
does not, while Socrates knows that he knows nothing. Socrates claims that he has done this with
many men, and that each time, he came to the same result: the man knows nothing and thinks he
knows everything, and Socrates has made the man angry. In continuing to do this, Socrates made
many men angry, and that anger turned into

Marine Corps Leadership Threats
Irregular warfare comes with irregular threats, and irregular threats must be approached with irregular
thinking. The Marine Corps Leadership Traits are the qualities that every Marine should consider
while engaging irregular threats, and are an integral part of leadership as a whole, because they make
up the basic foundation that our institution is built upon.
The three leadership traits that I feel are most important when operating against irregular threats are
Judgment, Initiative, and Courage, both moral and physical. These characteristics are fundamental to
not only an individual s success, but the success of the team. They are the blueprint that drives the

Courage is broken into two categories; moral and physical. Moral courage is having the ability to
stand up for a defend what is right. Moral courage in an irregular environment can be having the
ability to differentiate between what is wrong, or right, such as when capturing an enemy prisoner.
You must have the understanding and strength to treat the prisoner with humility, rather than letting
your frustration and anger fog your ability to do what is right, and what you are bound by law to do.
While moral courage can be something that is instilled from childhood, the strength to see it through
in the worst of times will ultimately define your character. Physical courage is having the strength to
act when the presence of danger, or physical harm presents itself. The ability to continue with the task,
with the understanding that you may be injured, or killed, is one of the greatest forms of courage.
There are many scenarios to describe examples of having physical courage, and it may not be able to
be developed prior to actually testing yourself.
However, if you go into the any scenario with an understanding of your purpose and

Theme Of Richard Bone
The subject matter of death isn t the theme of this poem. The poem prevails truth being disguised and
manipulated over documented history. This not only opens the mind into questioning whether
historical events truly happened the way historians say it did, or whether documentation can prove a
justification of truth, but it forces the second idea to raise questions whether any of the history being
told is true at all. The poem Richard Bone carries out this idea strongly. The reason this poem plays an
interest in my mind is that it synthesizes to current events happening every day in the real world in a
variety of ways. The poem places the tactic of truth versus false and how reality plays with this
fundamental game with scenarios of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, because that person had already passed, he began to raise questions: whether those people
were really who they said they were. Richard Bone is prone to the idea that evil dominates the
goodness in the world, so why don t some of the tombstones describe the characteristics that were
strongly disliked of that certain individual? Only being described as a good person only prevails that
the truth is being hidden. After all, because the tombstone represents what the person was, people
paying for the chisels wanted to remember the goodness in the heart of that individual, not that that
person at some point in their lives betrayed them. Tombstones are a certain scar. Richard Bone, tells
up to be aware.
In the poem Richard Bone there a very few parts of the poem where it appeals to my senses. However,
there are a few, specifically the line that reads,
...made myself party to the false chronicles
Of the stones,
Without absolute hesitation, Richard Bone delights himself with the idea that he will always profit
from his job economically. He forces himself to think that the truth does not matter as long as he has
lived and he is successful. This second line proceeds to the figurative language device of a hyperbole,
Without knowing the truth,
Or because he is influenced to hide it.
Here is displaying that because he is making money from his job of chiseling false labels onto
tombstones, the lies do not matter to him. He convinces

The Identity Of The Arab Nations National Identity
Cultures in MENA are traditions, beliefs, and behaviors shaped by history, religion, ethnic identity,
language, and nationality . MENA consists of a mix of ethnic, language, and religious groups. The
diversity of these groups allow for cultures to co exist in the region. The family is very import and the
values that come from having strength in a solid extended family allows for respect, honor, and
loyalty. Religion plays a huge influence in the daily lives of the people in MENA.
Language, culture, social, and political, economic interests, and a collective memory of their place and
role in history. The logic of nationhood is frequently being formed and reformed, reflecting changing
conditions and self conceptions; together these deny total separation as well as complete incorporation
in the way communities relate to one another is fortified by shared images and origins (Barakat,
Halim). The national identity of the Arab Nations national identity is said to be focused on language.
Albert Hourani stated in his most famous book, Arabic Thought in the Liberal Age by Albert Hourani
asserts that Arabic people are more focused on their language more than any other peoples of the
world. This theory is also stated by Jacques Berque, saying the East is the home of the word the
Arabic language does not really belong to the world of men; rather, it seems to be lent to them, and
that Arabic writing is more suggestive than informative.

Messiah Of The Masses Summary
This paper is a review of the book Messiah of the Masses: Huey P. Long and the Great Depression.
The book was about the life history of Huey P. Long during the great depression era. The author of
this book was Glen Jeansonne and it was edited by Oscar Handlin. In 1993 this book was published by
Addison Wesley Educational Publishers Inc. There are many pros and some cons in this book but
overall it was a very interesting book. The author s goal was to educate everyone about the
misunderstood Huey P. Long. I agree that Jeansonne did accomplish his goal of doing that while
keeping a steady and fine flow throughout the book. It is also a good narration on human nature during
the time of the great depression. The only cons I have about the book was that it was very hard to
comprehend at points. I assume it was because I need to extend my vocabulary. Also, I did not like
how the book criticized Huey P. Long a lot. Even though he was somewhat a bad person I believe the
author could have put more accomplishments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Long is how he believed that was a master politician. I agree with this very much because of the way
Jeansonne wrote about his campaigning strategy. He basically had citizens of Louisiana wrapped
around his fingers by telling them what they wanted to hear. In chapter 7 it said that a national
correspondent wrote, They do not merely vote for him, they worship the ground he walks on... (p.142)
Also in chapter 3, Jeansonne supported his argument when he talked about how Huey limited his
points in a speech to only five points. Afterwards he stated that an assistant of Huey said, Smith
compared this tactic to promising a child a red bicycle for Christmas. (p.44) This view closely aligns
with my reasoning for my position of agreeing because he would talk about doing things and no one
would question how they got

Before I start getting into anything I just want to say Thank you.
Thank you for 20 years of unparalleled greatness. Thank you for allowing fans all over the world to
see some of the best basketball they ve ever seen. Everything you ve done will forever go down in
history.
Now that, that s out of the way down to business.
Kobe Bryant is one of the top 10 people to ever pick up a basketball period. This is not something that
is up for discussion. But his career is split into two parts. There is #8 and there is #24. The two are
different in every way, but help make up what is Kobe. Both had an equal opportunity to showcase its

Number 24 won two more rings, passed MJ on the all time scoring list and won two gold medals.
Sunday night Kobe announced his retirement through a heart felt letter in the Players Tribune. It marks

Short Essay On Mother Teresa
Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier. Mother Teresa.
She was always loving people no matter what and she would always help out anyone in need. She
dedicated her life in helping homeless, the sick , the poor and the dying. Mother Teresa was a petite
woman who spent most of her life caring for the sick and dying. She fed, washed, and cared for
anyone who needed it. Mother Teresa s use of unique missionary work in India was an effective
method for change because she provided for the impoverished, improved healthcare for the poor, and
established a safe haven for everyone.
Mother Teresa devoted her life to helping the poor, sick, needy, and dying people in India. In 1948 she
asked the Pope if she could quit teaching so she could help the people in need and he finally said yes
after a year of lobbying. In the year 1952 she was able to open the first available hospice in Calcutta
where she stayed with the people who were living there until they died. Next year she opened the first
orphanage which took care of handicapped children and the children of dying mothers. One day she
stumbled upon a lady whose flesh was being eaten by mice. So she took the lady and stayed with her
until she died (Demkovich). Meeting with the abandoned women in streets of Calcutta, made Mother

Tet Offensive
The Vietnam war was started and lasts until 1968 when the Vietnamese launched their Tet Offensive.
The Tet Offensive was a surprise for the United States because at that time we didn t think any country
would be able to surprise attack us like the Tet Offensive did. The Tet offensive was one of the largest
military campaigns of this war, it was built of over 80,000 communist troops all coming together to all
attack the United States hoping in return, we would end the war.
On January 31, 1968, thousands of North Vietnamese forces launched the Tet Offensive, originally
named for the lunar new year holiday called Tet. Many large attacks on more than 100 cities and

Although the Tet Offensive did not have incredibly huge problems in South Vietnam as the leader
expected, it made a major impact in the United States. It turned out to be a rather good result for
Vietnam because the American public opinion against the war had us thinking that we should not be
supporting the war. According to encyclopedia even if the offensive did not bring immediate victory,
the Communists calculated it would allow rural forces to disrupt the pacification program, destroy the
American illusion of success ( Paragraph 2 )The Tet Offensive proved to be a good success but also
very tragic. More than 200,000 troops were sent to be a part of Tet Offensive. The War finally ends on
February 22nd 1968. It resulted in thousands of deaths, and an ending that neither side was happy
about. The United States and Vietnam both didn t win the war although they refused to show that or

My Mother As A Hero
Sitting on my mother s lap has always been the safest place for me. Although she beholds a lovely
image, I imagine her as a fearless warrior ready and armed to attack anyone who dared to touch her
child. I admired my mother s strength as I watched her work for tireless hours, but, furthermore, I
admired her willingness to sacrifice resting time in order to be with my siblings and me. Although my
mother did not have a warrior s armor consisting of a sword and shield, listening to her stories about
Mexico, her love for my father, and their struggle in America, she became that fearless fighter who
protected me and guided me through hardships.
Unlike my mother, I was not fearless. I could not watch horror movies because I would not sleep for
weeks. I could not stand in a pitch black room because I would search frantically for a ray of light.
Many times I would awake terror stricken and call out for my mother, yet due to her night shifts she
would not answer. I would spend entire nights looking at the ceiling, hoping for the sun to rise, and for
my mother to show. These immense fears, which plagued my childhood, have been the ones to teach
me that great courage is needed in life. I would force myself to be brave or to at least act brave. Not
having my mother come to me every time I called for her, made me realize that I cannot depend on
anybody to get me through obstacles, especially, if that obstacle is my own fear.
Going through life I stuck to acting brave.

How Did Indi Build Agile Animals
Many years ago, long before humans were around, animals roamed Africa. There were tigers, lions,
bears, elephants, spiders, and so on and so on. The tigers were the kings of Africa and did whatever
they wanted wherever they wanted. Their leader was Indi and he told all the tigers what to do and how
to act. All other animals envied the big cats for their beautiful orange fur and long envious tails.
Siberias, god of life, favored them over all other creatures that she created. They were one of the
strongest and most agile creatures she had created and she loved them as her own. The one thing she
wishes was different was that they were not as self centered and rude. Indi and his streak got away
with too many things and they did not like to listen. Indi believed that rules did not apply to tigers.
One day Siberias decided to make more animals for Africa. She had created gemsboks, antelope,
cows, wildebeests, and other horse like creatures. She even decided to create some sea creatures for
her lakes. Siberias most proved new animals were her zebras, giraffes, and pufferfish. Siberias decreed
that the tigers and other big cats were allowed to eat any animal they wanted except for her new most
prised possessions. If they did, there would be terrible consequences. ... Show more content on

Benefits in Youth Football
Since the creation of man, sports have had a tremendous role in the way people live their lives. From
the time we are born, until our elderly age, most of us are involved in some way with sports. Whether
it is a scrimmage game of soccer at recess in elementary school, playing on the varsity athletic team or
simply watching the Olympics or sporting events on television, sports have an influential role in our
everyday lives. The outstanding popularity of the sports industry has profoundly affected youth sports
organizations that an estimated twenty six million children ages six through eighteen participate in at

This is a large boost in the physically disabled youth s self esteem because that youth knows that their
participation in sport allows them the opportunity to advance in sport just like a healthy youth can.
Physical activity is essential for children; therefore sport participation has many physical benefits for
youths (Willox, 1994). In the United States there is a very unhealthy trend of physically unfit children
going on. According to a recent study by the Harvard School of Public Health seven out of ten kids in
our nation are out of shape and the incidence of obesity has increased by more than 50 percent among
America s children and teen since 1976 and continues to grow at a staggering rate (Metzel Shookhoff,
2006). When children participate in sports activities they get some of the exercise they need to
improve their quality of life and can help prevent children from becoming obese. Physical activity
regulates obesity because it increases energy expenditure, suppresses appetite, increases metabolic
rate, and increases lean body mass (Willox, 1994). Even though regular physical sport activity has
been shown to improve physical fitness, it can also help in preventing many different health problems
down the line that youths who participate in sports are more likely not to develop than youths who do
not participate in sports. Women who participated in organized sport and fitness programs as

The Portrayal Of Women Of Contemporary Rap Videos
The aim of this study is examine the portrayal of women in contemporary rap videos, and to see if it
could be potentially harmful. Unfortunately within the music industry like many industries sex sells,
and the media has brought to light this fixation. Hip hop has persuaded a large portion of society that
this is how women should be treated, but new times call for new measures and it is time that people
realise this and give women the respect and dignity that many believe they surly deserve. In the rap
world, women are a status of success, and they are treated almost as trophies: a way for rappers to
show that they have made it to the top of their game. It is not that rappers feel that women are inferior,
but they feel treating women like a collector s item is how they should go about flaunting their new
found success. Rappers always try to have the best looking girls in their videos, which make other
people, predominantly young men, think how they are living the high life, being able to get the best
looking girls, girls they could only dream of getting. The intent of this façade is to simply make
money, but rappers do not realise how much of an impact their music is having on the younger
generations. When the younger generation watch television and see artists throw money in the air,
with expensive cars and women, that image is stored in their minds as the definition of success. They
begin to believe the idea that in order to accomplish success, you must have beautiful

The Rise of Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela is one of the greatest honorable and governmental leaders. Mandela, was a universal
idol, whose enduring devotion was to fight against racial oppression in South Africa. Mandela won the
Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, then he became the presidency of his country in 1994. Up until his prison
release in 1990 Nelson Mandela has been at the center of the most captivating and inspirational
governmental concerns in the world. President of the African National Congress (ANC) and the leader
of South Africa s antiapartheid movement, he was relentless in the movement of a nation towards a
multicultural government. Nelson Mandela served everywhere as a vigorous strength for the fight of
human civil rights and racial equal opportunity. African tradition was you were not a man unless you

Ultra Running Essay
Running is the purest form of exercise. Its simplicity requires minimal equipment or experience, as the
running motion is an innate movement for the human body. More specifically ultra running is beyond
the marathon distance of 26.2 miles and incorporates distances of 50, 100, and 200 mile races. While
it takes any novice athlete to take part in the simple act of running a few advanced individuals turn
running into an art form and expand their expertise to endurance running as seen in ultra marathon
competitions. Running is currently applicable to society as the proportion of obese to healthy
individuals continues to increase. As a result of the obesity epidemic health and wellness has hit major
media headlines running in general has transformed into the most popular mode of exercise. The
increasing popularity in running has brought more attention to the specific world of ultra running and
researchers, health practitioners, and the media have become critics of the how running extreme
distances can be detrimental to health. While many argue that ultra running will pose greater health
risks for the competing individuals, historically distance running has been a crucial component of
human survival and evolution further supporting the development of biomechanical and physiological
health benefits. Despite the skepticism, ultra running provides holistic health benefits and does not
subject the competing individual to increased health complications or risk of injury.

An Aesthetic Experience
To have an aesthetic experience there are two criteria that need to be met. The first is paying close
attention to intrinsic features. The second is that the object we focus on must be viewed as worthy of
our attention. An example from the book of an object being viewed as valuable is on page 58. Young
children will pick weeds and think they are just as beautiful as flowers because they do not see a
difference. As they get older they begin to see what is held at a higher value in society (p.58). I see this
at work when children bring me grass or rocks to hold onto because they see them as special. Most of
the girls only pick things with color, so they can kind of tell the difference. During the spring one of
our teachers was admiring a large bloom on the hydrangea bush. An older student then decided to pick
it and bring it to the teacher. This upset the teacher because that flower was not meant for the kids to
pick, but this shows how children understand and copy the ideas of adults. From the book I learned
that the most common way of assessing a child s maturity level in the 1940 s was to look at how well
they could draw a picture of a person (p.58). I can see this as a realistic way of assessing young
students. However, as you get older I don t think this would work as well. I am very bad at imagining
things so I would have a difficult time conjuring up a picture of a person in my mind to draw. I am
also not very good at drawing and when I draw people they are mostly

Postmodernism Or The Cultural Logic Of Late Capitalism...
Fredric Jameson is admired as a standout amongst the most imperative and persuasive artistic and
social pundit and theoretician in the Marxist convention of the English speaking world. In his work
Postmodernism or the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism Jameson endeavors to portray the way of
social creation in the second half of the twentieth century, the period of late capitalism, and to
recognize it from different manifestations of social generation of going before capitalist periods. A
generous part of Jameson s Postmodernism or the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism is committed to
differential investigation of masterpieces and building design from what Jameson terms high
innovation and postmodern works. He describes the postmodern mode of generation as a social
prevailing in the wake of ideas like depthlessness or the concealment of depth, the fading of influence
and pastiche, terms which as per Jameson identify with the postmodern type of production and
experience.
The idea of postmodernism quickly raises the issue of periodization, involved by the prefix post doled
out to the time of modernism. What was the starting point of modernism and when did it end? Is it
safe to say that it is conceivable to define clear boundaries between modernism and postmodernism?
Jameson accepts that it is conceivable to discuss social modes with in a characterized course of events.
In any case, he limits his periodization of postmodernism to the unbinding idea of social

Allusion In Infinite Jest
In his celebrated 1,079 page novel set at a tennis academy and addiction recovery house, David Foster
Wallace borrows a phrase from Shakespeare s Hamlet for the title, Infinite Jest. The allusion is
grounded in the vital plot device also named Infinite Jest, a necromantic film that engrosses the viewer
to the point of catatonia and eventually death. The filmmaker is the character James O. Incandenza,
who sought to produce a film so radically entertaining that it would affectively tear his son Hal from
anhedonia, a sarcastic and apathetic state of being that characterized, for Wallace, American culture at
the time. As it becomes clear very early on in Infinite Jest, James is dead for the majority of the plot,
appearing as a ghost late in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Catherine Nichols points this out, calling James the infinite jester of the novel (11). In view of his
connection to Yorick, the allusion to the graveyard scene in Hamlet is twice made explicit: once near
the beginning and once toward the end of Infinite Jest; Hal shares a dream with the novel s other
protagonist, whereby the two dig up James head (16 17; 934). Of course, the graveyard dream recalls
the grave scene from Hamlet, where the titular character discovers that the skull uncovered by the
gravediggers is that of his childhood jester Yorick, whom he describes as a fellow of infinite jest
(5.1.191 2). As Indira Ghose suggests, the infinite in this line is enclosed within Hamlet s recollection
of the jester, so the infinity is reduced to the confines of a single character s memory and is recalled
only upon his chance encounter with the skull; the infinite is juxtaposed with the image of the empty
skull he holds up to the audience, so the infinite as a concept is exposed as a huge joke (1015). Aside
from James The Joke, his film Infinite Jest itself functions as a jest: the overt impossibility of a film
engaging a viewer to the point to death, the hyperbolic mother son theme parodying psychoanalytic
theory, and, perhaps most poignantly, the glaring absence of the infinite. In Hal s dream, he digs up his
father s head in order to find, as it is elsewhere inferred, the master copy of the film. However, as the
reader and Hal are aware, James head was destroyed, thus the film no longer exists. This absence
recalls the gaping emptiness of the jester s skull as Hamlet holds it up to the audience. In both cases,
the infinite itself becomes the joke, in the sense that the yawning absence belies the immutable nature
of infinity. Likewise, Wallace s

  • 2. Examples Of Lying In Huckleberry Finn Lying is known as a bad thing, but sometimes it can be used for good. Dishonesty just depends on how you utilize it. In the story, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain you will see lying happening very often. When Huckleberry Finn lies it is usually for a good purpose. While the king and duke use it for more greedy reasons. Huckleberry Finn was a very caring character to me. He used his lying for the good things in life. Everybody in their lifetime lies at some point, and hopefully most of the time it s for the better. For example, Huck was often lying to protect or help his friend Jim. In particular, when Huck and Jim stumble across a couple of men Huck tells them that it is just his family aboard the raft. He also tells them that his family has smallpox so they won t catch Jim as a runaway slave and get him in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Huck is also stuck in the situation of turning Jim in or not. He knows that turning Jim in would be honest, but he also doesn t want to let his friend down. Huck did choose the lying side of it, but once again it was to protect Jim. He cares about Jim and doesn t want to see anything happen to him, so he would rather just tell little lies to keep Jim out of trouble. Not only does Huck lie for unselfish reasons, but he also feels very bad when he does lie. For instance, Huck feels very dishonest for lying to Mary Jane and her sisters. Huckleberry Finn feels bad that the sisters have given these two frauds all the money and property, so he decides to tell Mary Jane the truth about them. Don t you holler. Just set still, and take it like a man. I got to tell the truth, and you want to brace up, Miss Mary, because it s a bad kind, and going to be hard to take, but there ain t no help for it. These uncles of yourn ain t no uncles at all they re a couple of frauds regular dead beats. There, now we re over the worst of it you can stand the rest middling easy (Twain ... • 3. Taking a Look Back at Smallville The series Smallville takes place is a small farm town of the same name. Twelve years before the show begins the town was affected by a meteor shower. The meteors brought the main character, Clark, to planet Earth; he was found by an older couple, Jonathan and Martha Kent, who weren t able to have children. Clark is no ordinary boy though, he has the powers of Superman; the super strength, and fast speed. Throughout the show we see him wear all three of Superman colors red, yellow, and blue. The television takes the audience twelve years after the meteor shower struck Smallville and shows how the town is still being affected by red and green kryptonite. The series Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes place in a small town Sunnydale, which is above the hellmouth. Buffy who is the main character, became a vampire slayer when she turned fifteen. She has the duties to protect her town, and save the world from vampires, and demons taking over. Her parents are divorced, she is taken care of by her mother and her watcher Giles. Over the past decades, the outtake of what a superhero is, what superheroes do, and how they look like has changed drastically. Superheroes as Dream Doubles written by James Whitlark focuses on just that, the changes from the Golden Age to the newer Bronze Age. Whitlark covers how people get the idea of what a superhero is made they see in themselves at least two individuals a present self greatly in need of improvement and a future one tantalizingly out of ... • 4. The Initiation Of 3 D Printing Initiation of 3 D printing took place in end 1980s. Fundamentals of 3 D printing were laid by Japanese Professor. Although he was not able to contribute 100% with his idea, but later on, Mr. Charles Huck carried on with this idea and finally came up with a machine that can create prototypes. Later he also co founded a 3 D manufacturing company that is right now one of the largest 3 D company in the world and contributes a lot to modern era problems. After this initiative, progress on additive manufacturing process or 3 D printing got started, and since then, it became one of the most important sector of science, specifically engineering, as it have produced a lot of useful results and have also simplified some lengthy tasks, transforming them into efficient, accurate and cost effective activity. As discussed in introduction about types of 3 D printers and variety of industries where they can be used, explanations regarding these aspects are as follows: i. STEREO LITHOGRAPHY (SLA) ii. FUSED DEPOSITION MODELLING iii. SELECTIVE LASER SINTERING (SLS) iv. MULTI JET MODELLING (MJM) v. VFLASH PRINTER vi. FUSED FILAMENT FABRICATION (FFF) OR FUSED DEPOSTION MODELLING (FDM) Fundamentals of all types of printers stated above are same. As prototypes are printed layer by layer, so certain dimensions are required by printers to print that part. As all designing activities are performed on computer and computers are used to directly send commands to printers, defining actual structure of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Gabriel García Márquez s One Hundred Years of... Gabriel García Márquez s One Hundred Years of Solitude By far, Garcia Marquez s most acclaimed work is Cien Anos de Soledad or One Hundred Years of Solitude. As Regina Janes asserts, his fellow novelists recognized in the novel a brilliant evocation of many of their own concerns: a total novel that treated Latin America socially, historically, politically, mythically, and epically, that was at once accessible and intricate, lifelike and self consciously, self referentially fictive. lt;4 gt; In it, the totality of Latin American society and history is expressed. Upon first reading, the novel appears to relate a regional history of the town of Macondo and the many generations of Buendias that inhabit it. This local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gabriel Garcia Marquez has dealt with historical themes in several of his fictions, but in One Hundred Years of Solitude, the author makes a statement about history and the importance of historical consciousness. In this paper, the view of history expressed by Gabriel Garcia Marquez in One Hundred Years of Solitude will be the focus. Circularity and Repetition History is represented in two different ways in One Hundred Years of Solitude: the way in which the characters experience it, and the method in which it actually develops. The characters are caught between the pressures of past and present, and from their perspective everything is repeating itself cyclically. [They] see the past in general as part of the circular pattern of recurring events and in particular, as filled with negative personal experiences which they do everything possible to repress. lt;6 gt; This presentation of time and history as repetitious is obvious to the reader, but she would be deceived to believe it is the way in which history really is progressing. Still, the cyclic structure of the novel is an important part of its historical analysis. In her article entitled Cien Ados de Soledad, Historia y Mito de lo Americano (One Hundred Years of Solitude, History and Myth of the American ), Fanny Carrion de Fierro asserts that the symbolic one hundred years of Macondo s time are divided into two historic periods which repeat themselves. ... He knows that having one distinct outcome for anyone who has committed a crime would be the easy way out of things, but he is unable to control himself from now thinking that there is more than one right answer. He had always believed that strict authority and giving people sentences was the right call for every case he had, but now these phrases show less of an impact due to his overturned ideas. It is in this moment that Hugo shows the change that is brewing within Javert, as he is beginning to not only realize that there is more that one solution to those who commit crimes, but he s beginning to make an effort to perform actions that show he does believe in second chances. • 8. The Fractal Geometry Method of English Teaching in Kazakhstan (Inspired by Mandelbrot s Chaos Theory) Almost all the second language learners in Kazakhstan have the same schedule every day. They go to schools or universities where lessons are held in Russian or in Kazakh, they attend additional classes to prepare for the exams also in Russian or may be in Kazakh sometimes, they are on the job working mainly in Russian, they go to their English classes, may be they start speaking English a little bit, but then they go home and revert back to their native tongue again. May be they are making slow improvements in speaking English, but still it is not enough to be fluent in English. The biggest problem for Kazakhstan students is that they almost never speak English in their everyday lives. They can do it only attending English classes and only if their teacher creates such opportunity, so that students can practice oral speech. Passive listening is okay, but interacting is even better. It is of vital importance for the teachers to have students speak in the target language as much as they can, stick to English. That is why teachers of the English in Kazakhstan need practical, easy to implement, effective methods to increase the use of the English in the classroom. One of the most effective methods for improving speaking skills is Fractal Geometry method. The teacher provides students with How to questions and students need to write instructions on how to perform everyday activities (How to cook perfect rice for 4 people? ... So often do we see a colorful group of people who struggle under the control of a tyrannical leader, struggling to keep both their spirits and sanity up. Cool Hand Luke is not an exception to these films. However, it does contain a main character with a nonchalant type attitude that irks his superiors and earns respect from his fellow prisoners, which is not often seen. This leads to him becoming a very popular character in the prison, specifically to his new admirer Dragline. Dragline the former head honcho among the prisoners grew quite fond of Luke due to his admiration for Luke s coolness. This new relationship would cause Dragline as well as Luke ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third time he escaped was when everybody believed he had thrown in the towel. On a day working in the trenches Luke was told to fetch the sniper from the truck (Rosenberg, Caroll, 1967). He used this opportunity to steal the truck and escape for a third and final time. Dragline also saw this as an opportunity and jumped on the truck as it sped away. Luke and Dragline made it to a river to hide the truck and Dragline talks about how Luke fooled the bosses. Luke replies you can t fool them about something like that, they broke me (Rosenberg, Caroll, 1967). Revealing that he was truly made to conform to the Captains norms under his power, and still ultimately chose to not conform and give escape another try (DeLamatter, Myers, 2011). They continue to talk and Dragline talks to Luke and says If I hadn t lost my head I only had a couple of years to do (Rosenberg, Caroll, 1967). Showing that Dragline suffered a distortion of action. He knew that it would be wise to stay and finish out his sentence but, he was caught up in with Luke s assuredness. This is reflective of the Stanford Prison Study. Although all through the movie we see that Dragline s core belief is that he should stay within the laws of the captain he breaks these beliefs to escape with Luke (Glavin, 2015a). • 10. Japan And Its Effects On Japan Japan unlike many other countries has thrived on globalization. Japanese companies have investments all over the world, Japan exports modern technology such as new and innovative vehicles, and Japan s people tourist in many iconic places outside of their country. But at the same time, globalization is hurting Japan. Globalization in Japan has led the country into issues with pollution. An overflow of waste incineration sites and construction, and also the butchery of Whales. These matters have steered Japan into harming its environment. Japan owns 70% of the world s waste incinerators which come with the main benefit of being able to burn garbage instead of having it piled up in dumps. With this intention, it poses threats to anybody nearby the facilities because they re so many. Additionally, Japan has only given the public very vague or unsatisfactory reasons for their slaughter of Whales such as using very broad terms like science and ineffectual arguments like tradition. This killing is putting the Whales species in very dire danger. Not to mention that the vast amount of construction taking place in Japan in years could lead the way to deforestation if it hasn t already. At the same time, Japan has its reasons for using so many waste incinerators, massacring Whales, and to assemble buildings over and over so much. Waste incinerators provide hot water, electricity, and material for construction. As stated already, the Japanese government claims they re whaling for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The colours originated from the 13th century coat of arms used by the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. The coat of arms displays a red lion with a striped blue and white background. In the 13th century the country had a banner that represented the dukes of Luxembourg not the nations people. Luxembourg declared its in dependence from Germany in 1835 and officially designed their flag ten years later. This flag is similar to the flag of Netherlands with the exception of having a lighter shade of blue on the bottom strip. The flag was not influenced by the Netherlands but instead by the flag of France. Luxembourgs population is very diverse with their ethnic groups and age. With his degree and experience he gained working at JC Penny s he, along with his brother, opened a Ben Franklin store. By the late 50 s they owned 9 Ben Franklin franchises. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has been said in the recent past that Walmart says they treat their employees well but there have been cases recently where this was found not to be true unfortunately. Treating employees unfairly could have a negative economic impact on the community because if workers aren t treated fairly then no one wants to work for the company that s not treating their employees well. Which then has a domino effect because chances are, if that s the case, then people will begin to bash Walmart driving consumers away to possibly purchase from other retailers. This would not be a positive economic environment at all and the chances of the business failing would be pretty good. To best maintain a thriving legal, social and economical environment Walmart needs to have in place a good management structure and for the most part I think they do. If they didn t they would not have risen to be one of the largest retailers in the world over the past almost 50 years. They have a company wide management structure that all stores abide by. This structure includes planning and promotions, goal setting amongst employees, organizing how operations flow on a day to day basis, directing its employees and controlling finances. The movie shows tragic scenes of how the feud between the Hutus and Tutsis affected their way of living harshly. The Spanish Influenza collected more lives than all of the casualties of war in the twentieth century combined. When Socrates heard of what the Oracle said, he begins to wonder what riddle is hidden in those words. He knows that he is not a wise man, so he knows that he cannot be the wisest of men. Not knowing what then Oracle truly meant, he goes out to investigate this. He went to a man who was reputed to be very wise. He thought that he would find a man who is wiser than himself, and thus point out to the Oracle its mistake. Socrates finds that this man actually knows nothing that is worth knowing. • 35. Ultra Running Essay Running is the purest form of exercise. Its simplicity requires minimal equipment or experience, as the running motion is an innate movement for the human body. More specifically ultra running is beyond the marathon distance of 26.2 miles and incorporates distances of 50, 100, and 200 mile races. While it takes any novice athlete to take part in the simple act of running a few advanced individuals turn running into an art form and expand their expertise to endurance running as seen in ultra marathon competitions. Running is currently applicable to society as the proportion of obese to healthy individuals continues to increase. As a result of the obesity epidemic health and wellness has hit major media headlines running in general has transformed into the most popular mode of exercise. The increasing popularity in running has brought more attention to the specific world of ultra running and researchers, health practitioners, and the media have become critics of the how running extreme distances can be detrimental to health. While many argue that ultra running will pose greater health risks for the competing individuals, historically distance running has been a crucial component of human survival and evolution further supporting the development of biomechanical and physiological health benefits. Despite the skepticism, ultra running provides holistic health benefits and does not subject the competing individual to increased health complications or risk of injury. ... • 36. An Aesthetic Experience To have an aesthetic experience there are two criteria that need to be met. The first is paying close attention to intrinsic features. The second is that the object we focus on must be viewed as worthy of our attention. An example from the book of an object being viewed as valuable is on page 58. Young children will pick weeds and think they are just as beautiful as flowers because they do not see a difference. As they get older they begin to see what is held at a higher value in society (p.58). I see this at work when children bring me grass or rocks to hold onto because they see them as special. Most of the girls only pick things with color, so they can kind of tell the difference. During the spring one of our teachers was admiring a large bloom on the hydrangea bush. An older student then decided to pick it and bring it to the teacher. This upset the teacher because that flower was not meant for the kids to pick, but this shows how children understand and copy the ideas of adults. From the book I learned that the most common way of assessing a child s maturity level in the 1940 s was to look at how well they could draw a picture of a person (p.58). I can see this as a realistic way of assessing young students. However, as you get older I don t think this would work as well. I am very bad at imagining things so I would have a difficult time conjuring up a picture of a person in my mind to draw. I am also not very good at drawing and when I draw people they are mostly ... • 38. Postmodernism Or The Cultural Logic Of Late Capitalism... Fredric Jameson is admired as a standout amongst the most imperative and persuasive artistic and social pundit and theoretician in the Marxist convention of the English speaking world. In his work Postmodernism or the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism Jameson endeavors to portray the way of social creation in the second half of the twentieth century, the period of late capitalism, and to recognize it from different manifestations of social generation of going before capitalist periods. A generous part of Jameson s Postmodernism or the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism is committed to differential investigation of masterpieces and building design from what Jameson terms high innovation and postmodern works. He describes the postmodern mode of generation as a social prevailing in the wake of ideas like depthlessness or the concealment of depth, the fading of influence and pastiche, terms which as per Jameson identify with the postmodern type of production and experience. The idea of postmodernism quickly raises the issue of periodization, involved by the prefix post doled out to the time of modernism. What was the starting point of modernism and when did it end? Is it safe to say that it is conceivable to define clear boundaries between modernism and postmodernism? Jameson accepts that it is conceivable to discuss social modes with in a characterized course of events. In any case, he limits his periodization of postmodernism to the unbinding idea of social ... • 39. Allusion In Infinite Jest In his celebrated 1,079 page novel set at a tennis academy and addiction recovery house, David Foster Wallace borrows a phrase from Shakespeare s Hamlet for the title, Infinite Jest. The allusion is grounded in the vital plot device also named Infinite Jest, a necromantic film that engrosses the viewer to the point of catatonia and eventually death. The filmmaker is the character James O. Incandenza, who sought to produce a film so radically entertaining that it would affectively tear his son Hal from anhedonia, a sarcastic and apathetic state of being that characterized, for Wallace, American culture at the time. As it becomes clear very early on in Infinite Jest, James is dead for the majority of the plot, appearing as a ghost late in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Catherine Nichols points this out, calling James the infinite jester of the novel (11). In view of his connection to Yorick, the allusion to the graveyard scene in Hamlet is twice made explicit: once near the beginning and once toward the end of Infinite Jest; Hal shares a dream with the novel s other protagonist, whereby the two dig up James head (16 17; 934). Of course, the graveyard dream recalls the grave scene from Hamlet, where the titular character discovers that the skull uncovered by the gravediggers is that of his childhood jester Yorick, whom he describes as a fellow of infinite jest (5.1.191 2). As Indira Ghose suggests, the infinite in this line is enclosed within Hamlet s recollection of the jester, so the infinity is reduced to the confines of a single character s memory and is recalled only upon his chance encounter with the skull; the infinite is juxtaposed with the image of the empty skull he holds up to the audience, so the infinite as a concept is exposed as a huge joke (1015). Aside from James The Joke, his film Infinite Jest itself functions as a jest: the overt impossibility of a film engaging a viewer to the point to death, the hyperbolic mother son theme parodying psychoanalytic theory, and, perhaps most poignantly, the glaring absence of the infinite. In Hal s dream, he digs up his father s head in order to find, as it is elsewhere inferred, the master copy of the film. However, as the reader and Hal are aware, James head was destroyed, thus the film no longer exists. This absence recalls the gaping emptiness of the jester s skull as Hamlet holds it up to the audience. In both cases, the infinite itself becomes the joke, in the sense that the yawning absence belies the immutable nature of infinity. Likewise, Wallace s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
