Examples Of Hero s Journey
Maria Paula Murcia V.
В·We all can be heroesВ·
The hero s journey is a pattern of narrative that describes the steps that a story should have when
it talks about a hero that goes out to achieve great deeds on behalf of the group, tribe or
civilization. This order describes how the story develops as the story advances.
Romulus and RemusВґs myth starts with a king that had a younger brother who wanted all the
power over the kingdom. ThatВґs why the younger brother killed the king, but the king had a
daughter and a son to inherit the power over the kingdom but he killed his nephew and made the

Dido of Carthage s myth is about a woman who was supposed to rule an Empire but her brother
killed her husband and got all the power for himself. As she didn t want revenge, she searched
for a new kingdom for her to rule and after she found it, fought for it and won. Years later, her
land became a big Empire but one of the rulers of the neighbor lands asked for her hand with a
threat, so in order to protect her kingdom and not getting married to him she decided to kill herself.

Global Political Economy Essay
Global Political Economy In the chapter, the authors provide an overview of the key approaches
to IPE. In the first part of the chapter, they provide an overview of the International Political
Economy approaches by focusing on their assessments of the key actors, dynamics and
prospects for conflict and coopering in IPE. In the second part, they outline the development of
the field since the 1970s by considering the careers and works of the three prominent major IPE
scholars Susan Strange, Robert Cox and Robert Keohane and the issue around which existing
scholarship clusters. And, in the final part, they conclude with the approach of the book. In the
chapter, the authors O Brien Robert and Marc Williams starts by giving a brief example of the
1997 Asian financial crisis in order to demonstrate the interpretation of the same event through
some of the key approaches such as the liberal, economic nationalist and critical approach. The
event that took place with the investors withdrawal of their money and investments has led to the
1997 Asian financial crisis. As a outcome, several Asian countries experienced economic
depression and were forced to seek loans from the (11). According to the authors, theories help us

Final Project Lady Macbeth
Macbeth Final Project Living in a world where even nature is at war with itself is challenging, and
only the bravest, good hearted people will emerge triumphant. The play Macbeth is a tragedy
written by William Shakespeare and takes place in eleventh century Scotland. Featuring a plot full
of twists and turns engages readers throughout the play. Even when the main character, Macbeth, is
enticed to commit a treacherous deed which causes a chain of murders and deceptions eventually
leading to Macbeth s unsightly demise, suspense is not lost. It is a masterpiece giving insight into
human nature and temptation, proving that only the characters who remain true to themselves will
escape unscathed from this backward place; because, in a world where... Show more content on

After receiving a prophecy from the witches the he will be king, Macbeth is excited to share the
news with his beloved wife. Both of them, alone, started plotting King Duncan s murder. Lady
Macbeth seems better prepared to wear this mask, and hide her true intents than Macbeth does.
Since Macbeth is seemingly incapable of facing Duncan without their plan written across his
face, Lady Macbeth encourages him to Look like th innocent flower, but be the serpent under t
(I, v, 56). It is almost as if Shakespeare wanted Macbeth to be portrayed as an actor, having to put
on this mask, and deliver a convincing performance of trust and loyalty. This is evident because
even though Macbeth openly expresses his distaste in Duncan s murder when he tells Lady
Macbeth We will proceed no further in this business (I, vii, 32) he still ends up killing Duncan.
Wearing this mask has taken its toll on Macbeth. His mind and body were opposed to the deed;
which is shown to the readers when Macbeth sees a floating dagger. Perhaps hinting that his
sanity is not intact. However, after it is done, Macbeth changes and starts molding himself to fit
the mask he wears, accepting murder, and moving forward with his life. Masking intentions
does not have to be for evil means. Malcolm masks himself in order to test Macduff, and by
doing this he gains a friend and ally, rather than a crown and subjects. So while masking one s
intentions can yield bountiful rewards, it can also pull them towards the path of evil, for there is
no yellow brick road to get lost on in this world of

Inferno And Dante s Inferno
In our world each one of us have opinions on many things.Such as preference of chocolate or
vanilla. Like a famous actor Richard Simmons once said You are one of a kind and unique. Never
forget that. (Simmons) Therefore each unique person has an unique understanding of Hell and
Satan. This could also explain the many controversial ideas Milton and Dante depicted helland Satan
in their books. In Dante s Alighieri book The Inferno it set in the year 1300.The book starts with
Dante getting lost in the woods and meeting his guide to his journey of Hell.As Dante goes on
his journey he shows us the many horrors in Hell.Such as before entering Hell Dante reads a
sign stating All hope abandon, ye who enter here! (Alighieri) Which would be very horrific to
read in my belief. As we read further Dante explores the evil in Hell such as souls being tortured
and turned into inanimate things.(The Inferno) As Dante goes further through Hell , Hell becomes
unbelievably scary .Dante explored Hell and met the fierce leader of Hell at his dear home.Satan is
unbelievably a scary character he doesn t even notice when Dante and Virgilpass through his
chambers. Gathering the information from above and from the book, I believe that Dante depicted

Short Story The Sniper
In reality, one will never know who the true enemy is until one kills. In the plot twisting short
story The Sniper, by Liam O Flaherty, a republican sniper faces an enemy which later discovers it
is his own brother. The republican sniper soon finds the truth of how the enemy was such a good
shot. The theme of this story is one can never be sure of the enemy. The snipers curiosity leads to
realizing who caused the death of his brother. The enemy shoots at the republican sniper and it
hits his forearm, therefore his arm is not capable of doing was has to be done. The sniper kills the
enemy, not realizing it until curiosity leads to the truth, that it was his brother who he murdered.
Don t ever assume the person firing towards oneself is the enemy because it could lead to disaster.
The republican sniper is concentrating on the enemy. The enemy is focusing on the republican. The
only objective is to kill. Both want to survive this war. This civil war is between republicans and
free staters. Suddenly, there was a flash and a bullet whizzed over his head. He dropped
immediately. He had seen the flash. It came from the opposite side of the street (O Flaherty 1). The
enemy missed. The republican was terrified, there was nothing to be seen just the dim outline of the
opposite housetop against the blue sky. His enemy was under cover (O Flaherty 1). Suddenly,
another shot was fired. It penetrated the republican, it hits his forearm.

Compare And Contrast Team N2 Vs Call Of Duty
Hat Fortress 2 or Call of Reboot Which would you prefer, a multiplayer game where you and
your teammates grunt and groan like cavemen, or a multiplayer game where the in game
dialogue sounds like it would belong in an actual conversation? While almost everyone knows
about Call of Duty from at least one of its many re embodiments, not a lot of people know about
Team Fortress 2. There are a lot of similarities and differences between the two games. One of
them is the gameplay, another is the in game dialogue, and the final point is the storyline. In my
personal opinion, I would rather play Team Fortress 2, and keep as far away as possible from the
weed smoking professional players of Call of Duty. Team Fortress 2 is a PC game, meaning it is...

Some of these unique actions are rancho relaxing, pop it don t drop it, and the kazotsky kick.
The kazotsky kick is a taunt that, when preformed, causes the player s character to do a dance to
Russian folk music that is unique to their class. For example, a soldier doing the kazotsky kick,
will salute every so often, while a demoman will start doing extreme breakdancing. The most
unique thing about this taunt is that it can be joined in by anyone, meaning that even if they
don t have the taunt or are even on opposite teams, they can still dance along. As for the unique
dialogue, each class has different hot keys assigned to different speech quotes. For instance,
pressing the e key on default settings will call for a medic to heal you. Meanwhile, Call of Duty
doesn t have the same lighthearted dialogue and actions as Team Fortress 2. While Team Fortress
2 is talkative than Call of Duty, Call of Duty is much more silent in its dialogue. In Call of Duty,
you re more likely to get grunts, groans, and dying screams than the lighthearted banter of Team
Fortress 2. Also, the only taunt in Call of Duty is tea bagging, which is disgusting and boring, as
opposed to the numerous taunts available in Team Fortress

Examples Of Prejudice In A Passage To India
A Passage to India: Race, Inequlity and Suppression
A rape trial unveils more than an ethic issue, but an ethnic opposition. In A Passage to India, the
rape trial of Adela Quest to Dr. Aziz aggravates the opposition between the British and Indians, at
the same time, crystalising how nationalism as well as colonialism thoroughly lead everyone in
India to be powerless. Under the colonial system, no room is for individuality or individualism
with everyone struggling for defining themselves, not by the complexity and diversity of
personalities and mindsets, but a collective identity of being either British or Indian. In other
words, in colonized India, individuality is highly suppressed by the prejudiced stereotypes and
social norms caused by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

superiors and the rulers of India. Both Dr. Aziz and Hamidullah commend that, the British, all are
exactly alike (Foster, 9), under the colonial system, a to be unanimously contemptuous. Even
though at first, some of the English newcomers are friendly, they all turn out to be racists as their
conversation goes: They (the Englishmen) come out intending to be gentlemen, and are told it will
not do. Look at Lesley, look at Blakiston, now it is your red nosed boy, and Fielding will go next.

to detest the Indians as his senior generation and the majority of the English. Thus, this
discrimination against Indians becomes an inheritance for every English in India. For Indians, they

Hot Rod Vs Napoleon Dynamite
Hot Rod vs. Napoleon Dynamite On one hand, Hot Rod is cool beans ,on the other, Napoleon
Dynamite is flippin sweet! Both these weird humored comedies have various on the surface
aspects that generate similarity, yet different components of each film set the two apart. The
plot of these movies are more different than they are alike. Napoleon Dynamite is set in a small
town and has a fairly insignificant plot: Pedro for class president. Napoleon, himself, is an
awkward teenager trying to help his friend. Comparing this to Hot Rod, there is a step up. The
plot of the Hot Rod showcases a fairly more significant than that of Napoleon Dynamite. Rod

Napoleon and his friends retain PG humor with comments that are so simply odd a viewer has
to laugh, What the flip was Grandma doing at the sand dunes? Rod and his crew, though, amp
up their humor level to PG 13 with drug use, crude humor, and profanities. A considerable
amount of the humor in Hot Rod relies on violence to draw laughter from the audience, You re
wrong, Frank. I m not a kid, I m a man. I am gonna get you better, and then I m gonna beat you to
death! Violence is nearly absent in Napoleon Dynamite with the exception of Uncle Rico
launching a steak at Napoleon s face. There is a minute romance in Hot Rod with Rod and
Denise, yet there is an even more nonexistent one in Napoleon Dynamite with Napoleon and
Deb: almost nonexistent. Napoleon Dynamite is a movie that almost anyone could watch and
enjoy. Hot Rod, however, is a hit or miss movie. The controversial topics of Hot Rod could also
be concerning for parents, whereas parents would easily let their children watch Napoleon
Dynamite. Napoleon Dynamite and Hot Rod are the same type of movie on the surface, but their
differences in plot and humor display how they cater to different audiences. Napoleon Dynamite
remains an enjoyable movie with a steady pace while Hot Rod goes on as not resolute. These two
classic movies have certain aspects that both set them apart from one another as well as adding to

The Case Of A Christmas Carol
marriage and gender roles. In the case of A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens wants readers to see
how living a life that radiates love and promotes happiness is better than being selfish and living a
miserable life, and how past circumstances heavily influence who we are as people. The two
messages both authors want readers to take away from the story, although different, achieve the
takeaway through the utilization first person narration. Furthermore, the narration in these stories
also consists of free indirect discourse, which is a type of third person narration that also
incorporates elements of first person narration. In both A Christmas Caroland Pride and Prejudice,
free indirect discourse has the same purpose it acts as a way for a way the characters thoughts to
shine through and become intertwined with the narrators thoughts. This causes the characters
feelings and thoughts to be validated and be made known, which adds credibility to the narrator
and creates another layer of depth within the stories. The use of first person narration and free
indirect discourse is the same in both novels and allows the reader to take away the message at
hand, however, the tone of the narration within the two novels slightly differs. In Pride and
Prejudice, Jane Austenallows her voice and opinions to be known through her narrator by being
subtly critical of social hierarchy and marriage for power and status. Even though she does this, the

Architecture As Space By Peter Goldberger
Critical Studies 3 2015
Art Gallery Analysis
Rohini Contractor 1430251 Architecture as space by Peter Goldberger discusses the significance
of the interior space within architecture as it is where the viewer has a true experience. The
feeling when entering a building builds a foundation for the viewers expectations and is most
influential to their judgement of the space. With a comparison of a person s reaction to a building
from the exterior to the interior, Goldberger explains that an exterior is viewed as a whole and
seen in a context however the interior will mould the persons experience with choice of lighting,
form and space. His discussion of how space can influence the users movement proves that the
architect can directly control the user or even through light determine the mood either with natural
lighting or use artificial lighting for something that can be controlled .
After reading this text I believe there are many different aspects of the interior that play a
significant role in creating an experience for anyone that enters the building. I believe it a
responsibility of the architect to create a feel appropriate for the space, in the case of art
galleries it should be expressive to invite visitors yet not to detract from the artwork itself. Being
a commercial space it should also be suited for an audience of all ages while creating a sense of
community. However Goldberger focusses mainly on interior being a primary experience and

them from certain age groups. Another way includes, how 451, does not permit its citizens

My Personal Philosophy of Nursing Essay
This paper is a first attempt at forming and articulating my own philosophy of nursing.
Our course, Transition to Professional Nursing, is barely two weeks old and already I am being
enlightened and challenged to expand my experience of nursing. I will attempt to explain my
personal journey and experience thus far including how and why I got here, my beliefs about
nursing and related values, and my visions for the future.
The Nursing Choice Nursing came in a round about way for me. I had little direction when I
graduated high school and had already disregarded the nursing field due to an incident with a
family member (who was a nurse) that had left a negative impression about the nursing field on me.

Care enough to listen, to do a thorough job at all you do whether it be assessing, documenting or
routine patient care. Care enough to see beyond the chief complaint and think about what may be
the root cause of the patients symptoms. Care enough to be ethical at all times and to complete
invasive and potentially embarrassing procedures with as much empathy and compassion as
possible. Care enough to connect to and treat your patient and their families and visitors with
respect and dignity. Do everything in your power to provide the most suitable environment and
emotional tone for the patient, and care enough to strive for the best possible outcome for the
patient, both in the hospital and beyond, advocating for the patient when necessary. Even by
definition the word care can be applied to different aspects of nursing. According to The Oxford
Pocket Dictionary of Current English (2009), among the meanings of the word care are:
1. The provision of what is necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance, and protection of
someone or something.
2.Serious attention or consideration applied to doing something correctly or to avoid damage or risk.
3.Feel concern or interest; attach importance to something. Upon reading about the different
nursing philosophies and the ANA Code of Ethics, I found that this core value, my perceived
essence of nursing, is supported by both historical and ethical factors. Jean Watson s entire

Loneliness and Isolation in of Mice and Men
Loneliness In Of Mice And Men Of mice and men is a tale of loneliness and hardship felt by the
people living in America during the 1930 s. Written by John Steinbeck and published in 1937, it
tells the heartbreaking story of two ranch workers during the depression; George Milton and
Lennie Small. At the time America was very poor, with a shortage of jobs so people had to
travel in search of new jobs. As many people were constantly moving, lasting friendships or
relationships were hard to come across. People became scared to have friendships, scared of each
other making them lonely and isolated. Most of the characters lived by every man for himself ;
only having to care for themselves, not having to worry about others and therefore... Show more

This animal imagery carries on through the book. This presents Lennie as almost less than
human. It continued right till the end of the book when Lennie returns to where the book began.
Lennie s movement is compared to that of a bear, As silently as a creeping bear moves , when
he gets to the river he falls to his knees and laps up the water like an animal, just as he did at the
beginning of the book. The book rounds off nicely; starting just where it had begun. Plus the
first and last scenes are both described in the same manner, and both scenes talk of a water
snake, with a periscope head slithering across the deep green river. In the first scene it s just
sliding along no problems. However in the last scene, as it copies this gilding along the river, it s
eaten by a heron. The heron symbolizes Lennie s destiny. The first scene is set at sunrise, at the
beginning of the week and the beginning of George and Lennie s journey. When the week is
ending and the sun is setting Lennie is shot, this the end of his journey (and the last scene of the
book), but for George it s just the beginning of guilt, despair and true loneliness. Crooks, Curley,
Candy and Curley s wife are all lonely, but all for different reasons such as discrimination and
prejudice. Crooks is a black man who has always been pushed aside from every group. He is treated

Evolution Of Live Birth And Snakes
Evolution of Live Birth in Snakes
The evolution of how snakes reproduce by bearing live offspring will be discussed by determining,
the evolutionary pathway of live birth, viviparity, egg laying birth, oviparity and giving live birth
but being kept in the womb in eggs until being ready to hatch, ovoviviparity. Discussion of the
advantages and disadvantages of each reproduction method will be determined. The objective of
this paper is to discuss the factors that have contributed to the evolution of snakes being viviparous.
The way snakes give birth is either through live birth, viviparity, or by laying eggs, oviparity.
Snakes are located within, Reptilia, the same class many dinosaurs were located in. Reptiles are the
descendants of creatures in the Paleozoic period called, Labrynthodonts. One of the earliest reptiles
that resembles the snake is the, Eophis, an eight inch long snake that lived in England (Guillette
Jr. 1993). The Eophis was very different compared to modern snakes, Eophis had four legs and is
believed to have been living near water. The limbs are what enabled Eophis to move rapidly in
water (Guillette Jr., 1993). Around 100 million years ago the limbs in Eophis were loss and
limbless snakes evolved (Guillette Jr., 1993). The fossil record of early snakes is very rare due to
snakes consisting of many small and very fragile bones making them easily destroyed. Most of the
species classified within Reptilia are oviparous. (Guillette Jr., 1993). Snakes are no

I do recommend the yield of this study and the satisfaction that the employee had, but I do prefer to
include the marital status of the employees. Moreover, nurse manager needed to be more restricts
with those who did not follow the schedules. However, researchers should have asked those
freaking nurses about their impression in order to know the reasons. Reasons might be some thing
between them and the nurse manager which could be handled easily by third party.
Agreement OR disagreement
The study was implemented only in one unit that consists of high numbers of nurses. However, I
would have preferred to run this study in two different units in order to have precise result, and
compare the data from both units.
Self scheduling did not work for everyone and there were some nurses wanted to ruin it for every
one. I would have preferred that these observation or opinions were held with those nurses who
were not abeyance to the self scheduling study. There could be social problems, work problems or
even there might be no harmony between them and their manager.
Another point, I noted that the sick calls remained steady and did not change. In my opinion,
there should have been decreased sick calls but the study did not indicate clearly about the
reasons for sick calls. Thus couple things come in my mind, did sick calls come from the same staff
for the previous years? Did they have social problems or were seasonal sick

Sustainable business philosophies are a system of fundamental or motivating principles that a

businesses to have a sound business philosophy is the cornerstone of a successful business (Burney,

explains the company s overall goals and their purpose of being in business (Burney, n.d.). Mission
statements are a guide for a company to develop and implement a corporate sustainability strategy

Vibrio Cholera Essay
Vibrio cholerae, the Human Immune System, and Vaccines
Cholera remains a drastically severe disease, killing hundreds of people each outbreak. When
ingested, it attaches to the mucosal lining of the intestines and disrupts the normal flow of ions so
that there is more sodium, chloride, and water in the intestinal lumen than normal and results in
massive diarrhea. Cholera has made a global impact and been endemic in almost all parts of the
world. Cholera control strongly emphasizes sanitation, clean drinking water, isolation, and careful
food preparation. Two ways our body works against cholera as a self limiting disease are sloughing
cells and the secretory immunoglobulin (sIgA) antibody produced by mucus throughout our body.

Although the mucosa itself does not appear to be damaged by CT, the net flow of Na+ into
tissue is decreased and the net flow of Cl and water out of tissue is increased so as a result, there
is more Na+, Cl , and water in the lumen than there should be. This leads to massive diarrhea and
great electrolyte imbalance. A patient with severe cholera can lose up to 20L of water a day
(Salyers A., Abigail, 141). At times, diarrhea becomes so dilute it is almost clear, containing
flecks of mucus that it is called rice water stool because of its watery consistency (Salyers A.,
Abigail, 142). This rapid rate of water loss and dehydration is tremendously fatal. At its most
extreme, symptoms emerge in 3 4 hours, previously healthy patients can die within 6 8 hours of
infection, and more commonly go into shock 6 12 hours after infection and die within 18 hours
(Weekly Epidemiological Record, 6). Cholera s level of severity is very life threatening and
remains a big problem even in our world today. Almost 100 countries worldwide are still affected
by cholera and it s virtually impossible to completely prevent an outbreak. If left alone, this rapidly
infectious disease can cause many fatalities. However, improved methods for surveillance,
diagnosis, and treatment, paired with higher standards of sanitation and personal

The Major Causes Of The Boxer Rebellion
The boxer rebellionв€’the fight between China and Western countriesв€’has been a debate since
the end of 1901. Many people have been wondering how the war happened and what were the
reasons that lead to it. While some people think that Western foreigners were the reason, others feel
that Chinese themselves was the cause of the controversy. This paper mainly supports the claim that
suggested the true major causes of the boxer rebellion, and refutes the point that the new
technologies and innovations that the West had introduced was the reason why the war happened.
It will define three main causes that leaded to the boxer uprising which were the personal beliefs of
Chinese people, the support from Qing dynasty, and the rise of Christianity. As the... Show more

To clarify, after the end of the second Opium wars, as China suffered defeat, Qing dynasty, the
ruler of China, had to pay war reparations, which were 8 million taels of silver apiece, granting
civil rights and rights to own property to Western people, and lastly, approving freedom of
religion in China (Sheng Shaw, 2007). From this point, foreigners were allowed to own
properties, which they built churches afterwards, and missionaries were able to spread their
religion everywhere in China. However, these actions had destroyed Chinese people s lands, and
agitated them. For example, in October 1898, the boxers first attack was the Catholic Church,
which was converted from the temple to Jade Emperor by Western priests. Because of the temple
that had been converted was a sacred place for Chinese people, they got dissatisfied by the West s
action and felt that they had to dismiss their intruders (Preston, 2000). Moreover, as the famous
actions called Juye Incident that the Chinese fighters took on Christianity, which was murdering 2
German priests, had stimulated Western rulers to take a revenge on China. Meanwhile, according to
George M. Stenz, who was the priest at the Church where Juye Incident was located, he stated that
the two priests that were killed had suffered many wounds caused by knives and both of them died
instantly (Stenz, 2013). When Western rulers had heard about the

Essay about Challenges Faced by Immigrants
Challenges Faced by Immigrants
The changing environments throughout the ages have caused the movement of thousands of
families out of their homelands. Whether forced to make such decisions or doing so by their own
desires, all immigrants have had to survive the physical and psychological challenges encountered
along the way. To speak about the experiences of all these different people using the same ideas
and examples would be quite inaccurate. They all, however, had to live through similar situations
and deal with similar problems. Many of them succeeded and found the better future they were
looking for. Many others found only hardship and experienced the destruction of their hopes and
dreams. All of them were transformed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many immigrants feel the same way about the things they leave. I know I did when I left my
home country of Bulgaria. My parents were hoping to provide my brother and me with a
brighter future by moving to the US, the country where anything is possible, or so everyone
said. It was 1998 and I was thirteen. I still remember the day we left and how hard it was for my
whole family. Through tears, I said goodbye to all my relatives and friends whom I cherished
and loved. I felt as if the whole world was closing up in me. I was being taken away from
everything I knew and everything I loved. The cool breeze of that autumn day rushed through
me as if foreshadowing a hard and cold future. The moment came for us to get on the plane. I
wanted to stop time and run away, back to everything I knew. But that was impossible; the
choice of turning back did not exist. As I was going up the stairs of the plane, I looked around at
the airport and its surroundings. I looked and saw the warmth and light of the familiar places. I
took a deep breath of the air around me, knowing it was the last time I could sense it, and went in.

The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fist Fight In Heaven Analysis
Throughout the book, The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in Heaven, life is heavily portrayed on
the Spokane Indian Reservation. Some factors of life such as tradition and storytelling are easily
noticed throughout the book; however, some less noticed factors of life such as resilience and
forgiveness might forgo the reader s attention. The challenges faced by those living on the
reservation are abundant. The way these individuals, especially Victor, overcome these challenges
is just a testimony to their character and emotional strength. Tradition plays a huge role in the
characters lives that live on the reservation. Thomas portrays his respect towards traditional
Spokane culture by participating in Spokane storytelling. He is always trying to convince Victor to
join in on the storytelling, dancing, and ceremonies, but Victor seems uninterested. Compared to
Thomas, Victor seems to be quite removed at the beginning of the book. Victor actively makes fun
of Thomas and how much he cares about the culture on the reservation. Although Thomas is
constantly being made fun of by Victor, he still continues his traditions and still continues to try to

Stereotypes On Friday Night Lights

Friday Night Lights
Across our beloved nation, it is strikingly evident there are a numerous amount of stereotypes that
we can never seem to rid of, which is tremendously emphasized through daily television watching.
In my own personal opinion, one of the truly heart pounding and influential series to be
displayed on television was the Friday Night Lights series; a show mainly focuses on a small
town, dead center in the heart of Texas. The small town, Odessa, relies heavily and whole
heartedly on the high school football team, Odessa Permian. As odd as it may seem, this show
doesn t only focus on football, but also displays the lives of the people that surround the football ...

Nonetheless, why did there have to be stereotypes to define specific roles. Why couldn t Smash
be part of a two parent middle class household? Or why couldn t he have been a good student
who had an opportunity to go to college without football? Why couldn t the two Hispanics have
been normal teenagers, not part of a gang, without tattoos, or without beating up a white kid. Why
couldn t Tim Riggins and Tyra have been clean cut individuals with a bright future? The questions
go on, would the show have been successful without stereotypes? The show has so much heart in
the small town, where the focus is not only the characters, but the small town. It is apparent this is
a successful show, but the stereotypes will always exist and be noticeable to viewers because of
the history of this country. As a country we know more statistics about how unsuccessful and
troubled minorities are than whites. We know that the crime rate is higher among blacks and
Hispanics than whites, which is why shows find it important to focus that on television. Even fifty

America s Favorite Sport Of The Super Bowl Essay
Another major business decision that Pete Rozelle made that further solidified football as
America s favorite sport was the creation of the Super Bowl, which is now the most profitable
single event for NFL every year. The Super Bowl today has become something like a national
holiday for the people. It is the most anticipated sporting events every year as many people look
forward to the Half Time Show as well as commercials from specific companies like Doritos and
the ever popular Mt.Dew. The Super Bowl was only possible from the NFL and AFL agreeing to
merge in 1966. In January 1967, the first ever Super Bowl, which at the time was known as the
NFL AFL National Championship showcased the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Although the first Super Bowl did not sell out the stadium the game managed to reach the largest
television audience for a sporting event with an astonishing 65 million viewers. According to
Wallace (1996), Soon after the first championship matchup between the established N.F.L. and the
upstart American Football League in 1967, the Super Bowl became one of the most watched
television programs, garnering ever higher rights fees from the networks and escalating ticket
prices (p. 1). When the two leagues officially merged in 1970 the following season started to
integrate the regular season games which brought new rivalries and more profit. The NFL has had

Maternal Depression in Women and Its Effect on the Family
Maternal Depression
Depression is a prevalent issue among women. Approximately 25% of women in will have a major
depressive disorder at least once in their lifetime and 15% of the female population will experience
post partum depression. (Women and Mental Illness, 2003) With these numbers, it is obvious that
maternal depression has profound effect on the Canadian family. Mother have the most influence in
a child s life, since they generally more involved in raising the children then men are. In most cases,
this influence serves to direct the child to healthy development. But when the mother is suffering
from depression, what effect does it have on the intellectual and emotional development of her
child? The child is definitively affected starting as early as infancy and through adolescence.
Depression: Symptoms and Causes
Depression may be simply defined as a state of sadness. Many may feel depressed for a short time
when things do not go their way, but when this feeling persists and interferes with daily activity a
doctor may diagnose an individual with clinical depression and order medication. Genetic
predisposition, personal problems, and seasonal hormonal changes are some of the many things that
may trigger depression. A depressed individual may encounter feelings of despair and sadness,
constant fatigue, constant headaches, among other things. If left untreated, depression may lead to
suicide. (Mood Disorders, 2003)

The most notable flag signifying piracy is the skull with the two crossed swords that is seen
today in Hollywood movies. This flag was flown under the control of Calico Jack, who terrorized

Is It Immoral To Watch The Superbowl By Steve Almond
Imagine watching a loved one s memory slowly fade away. Their cognitive abilities dwindle and
family members are forced to make tough medical decisions. I personally know about this
because my Uncle was officially diagnosed with dementia four years ago. Every day he becomes
more childlike and my Aunt is being forced to consider alternate care possibilities for him. She
even had to curtail their traveling, which was my Aunt and Uncle s favorite activity to do together.
Unfortunately, it s not just my family that has had to come to terms with a severe brain illness.
Even sadder, in many cases it is preventable. In Is It Immoral to Watch the Superbowl? by Steve
Almond, he suggests that chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or C.T.E., related illnesses, such as
dementia, and other football injuries are a main contributor as to why football is an unethical sport.
Almond argues that football fans are complicit in the multitude of inevitable injuries that take place
in the game and should consider halting their support. He often compares war and football,
attempting to connect the prominent violence in both activities. In addition to this, Almond uses
personal stories of harm caused during football games to further his point. He illustrates hard hits
on the field from well known players and a personal friend. Furthermore, Steve Almond uses bits
of irrefutable medical evidence to prove why watching the Super Bowl may is a negative thing. He

In May 1945, soldiers scaled a 400 foot cliff onto a plain that had been torn by war. Almost

men had fallen and the leader ordered the men to retreat and take cover. All the remaining
soldiers dashed back to safety. Only one man refused to take cover. That man was Desmond

the night, he kept moving around and rescuing more and more men. In the morning, more than
seventy five men had been saved. Doss was a Seventh Day Adventist with strong beliefs in God.
His childhood taught him to never kill. When World War II arrived, he enlisted in the army.
However, he refused to carry a gun into battle and kill others. As a result of his actions, he became
the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor and inspired many to be self

The Financial Crisis Is Considered By Many People As One...
Introduction to Business Assignment 1 Travis J. Sisson 01 Oct 2016 The 2008 Financial Crisis
is considered by many people as one of the worst recession since the Great Depression that
occurred from 1929 1939. The loss for that week was an astounding $30 billion. This was ten
times more than the annual federal budget and far more than the U.S. had spent in WWI (30B
dollars would be equivalent to $377,587,032,770.41 today). Additionally after posing a huge
effect on the U.S economy, the financial crisis expanded to Europe and the rest of the world. It
brought down governments, wiped out retirement accounts, ruined economies and left a bad taste
of Wall Street in the mouths of generations. These collapses caused a global scale of reform
resulting in the intervention of governments by changing and expanding the monetary and fiscal
policy or giving bailout that were needed in order to eliminate and control enormous effects of the
financial crisis. The financial crisis of 2008, commonly referred to as The Great Recession and the
Global Financial Crisis of 2008 , began with the downfall in the housing market in the United
States. There were many factors that played into the housing bubble to finally burst. Some of these
factors included: subprime loans, overall housing prices that peaked in 2005 2006 (and which are
starting to peak again today), government policy and regulation (or lack thereof), and faulty
mortgages that took advantage of unsuspecting home owners. In

7). The combustion increases the temperature of the exhaust gases, any residual air in the
combustion chamber, and the combustion chamber itself. From the ideal gas law, the increased
temperature of the gases also produces an increased pressure in the combustion chamber; the
high pressure of the gases acting on the face of the piston cause the piston to move to which
initiates the power stroke (para. 8). Unlike the compression stroke, the hot gas does work on the
piston during the power stroke. The force on the piston is transmitted by the piston rod to the
crankshaft, where the linear motion of the piston is converted to angular motion of the crankshaft.
Hall s article for NASA states that the work done on the piston is then used to turn the shaft (para.
8). Having produced the igniting spark, the electrical contact remains opened. During the power
stroke, the volume occupied by the gases is increased because of the piston motion and no heat is
transferred to the fuel/air mixture (para. 9). As the volume is increased because of the piston s
motion, the pressure and temperature of the gas are decreased. Heat that is left over from the
power stroke is now transferred to the water in the water jacket until the pressure approaches

Cults And Its Effect On Society
Cults have played major roles in how society has developed. They surround us everywhere. We
have been in contact with them and we don t even realize it. According to
Merriam Webster, a cult is a religious group that is not part of an accepted religion because their
beliefs are seen as extreme and/or dangerous. Cults have carried out many attacks and have caused
many deaths due to their beliefs.
Cult leaders are the controllers that have the reins to their followers minds. They can brainwash
them into believing and doing whatever they desire in order to feel power. Many people have
gone to great extents to harm others and even themselves. Many have killed for their devotion to
their leader. How can leaders achieve such control over others? Everything that cult leaders use to
manipulate all comes down to psychology. Some use fear and guilt to persuade while others
brainwash them into believing that what they are doing is for the greater good and that it is all
part of God s plan. Shoko Asahara gained power over his followers in the
Aum Shinrikyo cult, which led various chemical attacks against the citizens of Japan, by exalting
himself as the Messiah whose mission was to save humanity, a mission that many cult leaders

Insomni A Common And Overlooked Sleep Problem
A common and overlooked sleep problem throughout college aged people is insomnia. While
some people don t even know they have it, it could be greatly affecting their outlook on life. Not
getting the correct amount of sleep each night can lead to some very extreme mental health
problems. These include: paranoia, hallucinations, schizophrenia, and night terrors. Could
therapy help people who suffer from these health problems caused by insomnia? Researchers
who conducted this experiment in the UK, Freeman at el, (2015) hypothesized insomnia is a
contributory casual factor to psychotic like experiences. With the help of cognitive behavioural
therapy (CBT), the subjects will get better sleep, therefore they will have less psychotic like
experiences. The subjects for this experiment are a randomized controlled group of 2,614 college
students in the UK who tested positive for insomnia (Freeman at el., p.1). The students will then
be randomly split into two groups by the automated online system (p.4). One group will be
treated with CBT for insomnia and the other group will be receive treatment as usual. Although it
is explained that there are no exclusion criteria, all participants must be at least 18 years of age
and they must test positive for insomnia. However, the participants don t have to test positive for

As the New York Herald in Paris remarked, It is difficult to fly. It is easy to say, We have flown,
two things fueled skepticism in the face of scientific achievement: a disbelief in technological
capabilities, and a lack of demonstrable results. The Apollo missions extinguished both
concerns. In terms of technology, hoax believers frequently mention the Soviets constant lead in
the Space Race. They achieved many firsts, but were never able to send men to the moon; it
seems logical, then, that this feat must have been beyond the Americans as well. But in reality,
the United States was never far behind. In fact, by 1965, it overtook its rival, reaching many
milestones that were key to manned lunar missions (e.g. space rendezvous). NASA, thus, was
in a good position to travel to the moon and to the moon it traveled. As noted in Lunar Rocks and
Soils from Apollo Missions, it even brought back some souvenirs, in the form of 842 pounds of
moon rocks. These samples possess unique properties unseen in any Earth counterparts, and to
forge these rocks in such large volumes would have been impossible. Rocks aside, there are other
reasons to believe in the moon landings as well: reflectors left on the lunar surface, or landing site

Stress Management
Stress management is something we as people should take a lot more seriously than we really do.
Whenever I tell someone that they need to learn how to control their stress they always tell me
they need their stress. They are right, they do need their stress, we all need a certain amount of stress
in our lives. No stress is almost just as unhealthy as too much stress. Just the right amount of
stress is called Eustress. Eustress is a healthy stressor because it helps to keep us motivated.
Unhealthy stress is called Distress. Distress is unhealthy because it can cause all sorts of health

#61623; Exercise regularly
Nothing beats aerobic exercise for relieving stress. The stress reaction in the body consists of
tightened muscles, increased heart rate, Increased blood pressure, and heavier breathing . The
result is our bodies go into a state of high energy but there is usually no place for that energy to
go. Exercise is the most logical way to dissipate this excess energy. In turn relieving stress.
#61623; Humor
Humor is the best medicine. Laughter reduces the heart rate and arterial blood pressure to below
their original levels and causes the chest, abdomen, and shoulder muscles to contract, thus
providing release from stress. Do the quiz in one of my humor potential quiz books located in the

Realistic Expectations
A common source of stress is unrealistic expectations. People often become upset about
something not because it is innately stressful but because it is not what they expected. For
example, If you get caught in slow moving traffic during rush hour you may not like it but it won
t surprise you or necessarily upset you. However if it occurs on a Sunday afternoon it is more
than likely to stress you out considerably. When expectations are realistic life seems more
predictable and therefore more manageable because you can plan ahead and prepare yourself. As for

Trace Evidence
Crime scenes are known to have many clues left behind. The obvious would be a the body or
bodies, clothing, and sometimes even the murder weapon. While these are great way to solve a
case there s another kind of evidence; trace evidence. Trace evidence are small pieces of evidence
that are laying around a crime scene. There are many types of trace evidence some of them include
metal filings, plastic fragments, gunshot residue, glass fragments, feathers, food stains, building
materials, lubricants, fingernail scrapings, pollens and spores, cosmetics, chemicals, paper fibers
and sawdust, human and animal hairs, plant and vegetable fibers, blood and other body fluids,

Glass can also hold fingerprints which can be very valuable to an investigation as the
fingerprints can be taken up on tape and then ran through a database, possibly finding a match
and allowing the investigators to find and capture a suspect. Weapons, pray bars, blunt objects,
clothing, and shoes are where paint chips from door, walls, and furniture can be found. In order
for paint to chip off there needs to be a pretty serious struggle or a pretty hard force that will chip
away at the paint then causing it to land somewhere that the suspect forgot about. The Crime
Scene labs have about forty thousand different types of paint in their database. The majority of
paint chips are from hit and run cases involving automobiles. Dust and Dirt can determine many
things to help an investigation along. It can tell the investigators where a person has been,
where they work, where they live, and if they have pets in the house. Most soil samples will
come from the top soil and only need to be a little bit over a tablespoon to be processed. Pollen is
also included in this as it is a subtype of dust and dirt Pollen allows the investigators to know if
they suspect or victim were outdoors, and if so where they could have been. Firearms that are left
behind at a crime scene can be extremely helpful. This evidence includes not only the firearm itself
but also the ammunition used in the firearm, componets that make up the firearms, and the residue
that comes out when the

Disney Golden Age Of Animation
1. Disney golden age of animation a) 1940
b)Though Disney films are considered wholesome and upbeat, characteristic of this era of films is
their darkness.
Though they are somewhat eerie and perhaps disturbing, scenes like these are typically sandwiched
between two more upbeat and positive scenes, creating an extreme mood shift that engages all of
the audience s emotions. This style of animation also landed the Golden Age the nickname
The Tar and Sugar Era , due to its dramatic jumps from dark to sweet . In just about every way
these films pushed the limit of filmmaking. This era also includes the first and only time that
breasts were openly shown in a Disney film, found in Fantasia.

Payroll System Provides A Computing System
In today s world technology plays a major role in day to day life. Businesses require a computing
system in place to organise and to run the business effectively. Payroll system helps the employer to
store the details of employees including their name, contact details and financial details such as
wage slips and tax details. Payroll system is an efficient way to store financial details to prevent the
risk of leaking out confidential information to unauthorised personnel (Computer Misuse Act 1990).
Therefore implementing userloginon payroll system strengthens the system s security. The payroll
system helps both small and vast scaled businesses to manage the employee s personal and financial
information efficiently (Gautam, 2010). The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DESCRIPTION OF PLANNED PRODUCT The proposed product is to create a payroll system.
The system will allow the employer to add and delete employee profile as well as updating other
information. An employee record would contain the following details but is not limited to
employee name, date of birth, address, contact numbers, national insurance number, emergency
contact details, medical issues, working hours, hourly rate and exemption reasons (such as sick
leave, maternity leave, annual holiday). These details are confidential and some are sensitive
(e.g. known disability). Therefore the employee record must be protected according to legal
legislations such as Data Protection Act (1998) and Disability Discrimination Act (1995) The
payroll system will be developed on Visual Studio and Microsoft SQL server. Visual studio is
chosen as the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) contains various programming
languages incorporated to it. By developing the system in Windows forms application, the user
will be able to interact with graphical user interface which is more comfortable and easier for
beginners (Peter Ritchie, 2012). Once they get experienced on working in such an environment;
they can then generate new codes and modify the existing ones to make full use of the payroll

Pros And Cons Of A Child With Special Needs
Prisoners with Special Needs
A child with special needs tend to inspire us to be more patient and grateful while a prisoner with
special needs makes us wonder where the parents and inmate went wrong. The United States
Corrections system is home to thousands of prisoners. The purpose of this paper is to explain how
special needs, mentally ill, and substance abusing prisoners affect the jail and prison systems at both
state and federal levels. The effects of neglect towards these prisoners will be explained and
possible consequences associated with the acts. Lastly, the pros and cons of prison programs for
special needs inmates will be thoroughly explained.
Effects on the Jails and Prisons There are several different types of offenders in prison. Among the
prison population are mentally ill prisoners, special needs offenders, and substance abusing
offenders. These special offenders affect the jail and prison systems at state and federal levels
because they require more intensive or specialized services to be successfully reintegrated into
society. If they do not receive special attention, they can harm themselves or others, or become sick
from substance related illnesses. Mentally ill offenders must have access to psychiatric health,
mental health therapies, psychotropic medications, and types of special offenders need to be
separated from the rest of the prison population to prevent them from hurting other inmates. They
also must be monitored at all times so they do not

Anthropogenic Climate Change
Anthropogenic climate change alludes to the generation of greenhouse gasses radiated by human
activities. By analyzing the polar ice centers, researchers are persuaded that human activity has
expanded the extent of greenhouse gasses in the environment, which has soared in the course of the
last few centuries.
Thesis Statement
To study how anthropogenic climate change through technology, fossil fuels, and emissions.
Introduction
Human beings have always been a highly adaptable species. First, when our hunter gather ancestors
started constructing tribal villages to farm 8000 years ago. Then building on larger scale cities that

As a group, we almost hunted the animal to extinction until Edwin Drake drilled the first petroleum
well in 1859 (Spindletop, 2016). With this discovery would fuel the massive industrial revolution
later in the century.
Without a doubt, man has benefited from the progress he has made. However, there is a cost
associated with the progression. Since crude oil is a fossil fuel, it is mainly comprised of carbon
when it is refined a turned into gasoline and burned the carbon is released into the environment.
This process creates a greenhouse effect that causes the planet to warm altering its natural heating
and cooling cycles. Anthropogenic climate change is the known term for this process. Humans
have been dominating the landscape for tens of thousands of years, our technology, fossil fuel
sources, and the polluting emissions have drastic effects upon our planet.
Technology
Technology has been beneficial to humanity since the first human started crafting and stone tools to
build, hunt, and farm. Using technology, we altered our immediate landscape craft such landmarks
at the great pyramids of Egypt. However, that was in the time of antiquity modern marvels have
replaced these wonders. Mans introduction to modern times with the industrial revolution came

Worm Spray: How an Infestation of Worms can Help Catch a Criminal Mr. Malo was waiting in
line at his local general store with a large bundle of Worm Repellent on the conveyor belt in front
of him, and, after waiting in line for a few minutes, he was finally ready to pay for the products.
Slightly embarrassed, for the quantity of Worm Repellent was astounding since his house is
flooded with red, giant, killer worms, he payed for his products and exited the store, but as he was
stepping outside with a shopping cart filled with Worm Repellent, he heard a loud commotion
about one hundred feet down the sidewalk. Instantly uninterested, Mr. Malo turned away from the
sound and continued pushing his shopping cart towards his car, which was on the opposite side of
the parking lot, but after he took a few steps in that direction, he was roughly shoved to the ground

he stole his Worm Repellent, a crucial part of Mr. Malo s life. Eventually, he expressed his true

Protestant Reformation Essay
The Protestant Reformation was an event that helped to change church s from being corrupt money
laundering into the more religious based teaching we know today.
The Diet of Worms was one of the most important events of the protestant reformation.
Beginning on January 28th, 1521, it addressed Martin Luther speaking out against the church and
hoped to have him recant his Ninety Five Theses. While the Diet of Worms was expected to put an
end to the reformation, it only ended up boosting the public s belief that Martin was correct in how
corrupt the church was.

Due to this Luther looked for absolutes about life and was drawn to the idea of philosophy. As a
result of his education and dedication to god, Luther came to reject several teachings and practices
of the Roman Catholic Church. He was strongly indulgences, and didnt believe that freedom from
God s punishment for sin could be purchased with money. To protest this, he posted the Ninety Five
Theses, which he hoped would start to reform the church.
The Ninety five Theses was a list of propositions as a logical argument against the church written
in 1517 by Martin Luther. Martin wrote the Ninety five Theses against the church practices he
viewed as wrong, with a primary aim to get rid of indulgences.
In the Catholic Church at this time, indulgences was the Church s main source of income. In their
system, when a Christian sins and went to confess, they were forgiven by god, and would no
longer be damned to hell , all they had to do was buy the indulgence and they were Forgiven . As
Martin made the Ninety five Theses to reform the church, he nailed it to a church door as a means
of protest. However, the Thesis would eventually be known as the start of the Protestant
Reformation, and caused
Martin to be trialed at the Diet of Worms years later.

Worms, Germany (Other imperial diets took place at Worms, but unless specified, the term Diet of

The United States Military Operations
The United States Military continues to prepare sailors and soldiers for a range of military
operations. While the military is largely known for fighting and winning the nation s wars, it is not
uncommon for military commanders to face challenges outside that of military combat operations.
One of the more challenging operations that Joint Force Commanders face, is that of responding to
natural disasters.
While military commanders may conduct exercises both in the United States and with our coalition
partners and allies, natural disasters that require a military response have unique challenges that are
difficult to prepare and to practice. Natural disasters often occur with little or no warning and have

There are however, several restrictions that prevent the military from being able to directly
respond to foreign or natural disasters inside the U.S borders. A formal request for aid must be
generated through the Department of State for foreign aid (JP3 29, 2014). Likewise, a request
for federal assistance must be made from the state to the President prior to military forces are
authorized to respond to a domestic natural disaster. Unlike the Armed National Guard that is run
by the state and falls under US Title 32 laws, the Department of Defense operates under Title 10
laws that prevent the military from operating in inside the United States borders for defensive
support of civil authorities without the explicit permission from the Secretary of Defense (JP3 28,
2013). Joint Task Forcecommanders can best prepare for the surprise of natural disasters with
routine training and interoperability with coalition partners. Regular multinational exercises and
operations improve the trust and working relationship with foreign governments that are essential in
the time of crisis. Trust between nations is required to allow a country to make the initial request
for assistance. At the time of the 2004 Sumatra earthquake, only 15 percent of Indonesians had a

Consequentialist Theory Of Virtue Ethics
Virtue ethics is a theory that usually has a role of character and virtue in the world of moral
philosophy rather than either doing one s duty or acting in order to bring about good consequences.
In some article they said that some people that give professional advice about moral are called
virtue ethicist. When talking about virtueethicstheories, you need to understand that it came from
Aristotle who declared that, a virtuous person is someone who has ideal character traits. He also
said that these traits are originated from natural internal tendencies, but need to be cherished;
however, once established, they will become stable.
One example would be, a virtuous person is someone who is always kind in any situation over a
lifetime because that is her or his personal character and not because she wants to maximize self
value or gain favors but simply do her or his duty. In the other hand, deontological and
consequentialist theories (that are in the same category) are theories of virtue ethics that do not help
primarily to identify universal principles that can be applied in any moral situation. When talking
about virtue ethics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rule such as Do unto others as you would be done by and the last one, a virtue ethicist would go

puzzles have nine non overlying zones each consisting of three grid rows and three grid columns,

are copied into the three dimensional matrix it pushes back each of the available options onto
each vector. If there is already a space with a confirmed number in it the vector has the number 1
pushed back which signifies that this is box is confirmed and does require changes. In addition
if there is only one element in the vector (not including negative one) then the value of the
element is given to the square. After the number is confirmed every element in the row, column

attempts to make further deductions with the new information. The figure to the right shows how
this process would work. The algorithm starts on the first element and goes row by row until it
finds the 7th element with only the option of 5. It then inserts 5 into the value in the two by two
matrix and checks every element in the same row, column and box to see if it has the option of 5,
while doing this it deletes the option of 5 from the 3rd elements option vector and starts again from
the first element. Then it finds that the 3rd element only has one option of 9, and repeats the

The Implications of Facebook Becoming The World s Social Network and Telephone Book
Introduction The next twelve months are pivotal for Facebook globally as the company faces
significant challenges to its growth as both a worldwide social network and first location online
people look to connect with one another. In many respects, Facebook is becoming more like a
virtual phone book that can be used for quickly connecting with someone known in the past, just
met or of interest (Baltzan, 2012). There are very significant business opportunities for
Facebook both as a global social network and virtual phone book, in addition to large scale
implications for social change based on the pervasive adoption of this social networking
platform. Benefits and challenges of social networking, along with the pervasive use of tags and
crowdsourcing are discussion in this analysis as is the impact of Facebook on children.

  • 2. Examples Of Hero s Journey Maria Paula Murcia V. В·We all can be heroesВ· The hero s journey is a pattern of narrative that describes the steps that a story should have when it talks about a hero that goes out to achieve great deeds on behalf of the group, tribe or civilization. This order describes how the story develops as the story advances. Romulus and RemusВґs myth starts with a king that had a younger brother who wanted all the power over the kingdom. ThatВґs why the younger brother killed the king, but the king had a daughter and a son to inherit the power over the kingdom but he killed his nephew and made the girl a priestess so that she could never have children and get ... In the first part of the chapter, they provide an overview of the International Political Economy approaches by focusing on their assessments of the key actors, dynamics and prospects for conflict and coopering in IPE. In the second part, they outline the development of the field since the 1970s by considering the careers and works of the three prominent major IPE scholars Susan Strange, Robert Cox and Robert Keohane and the issue around which existing scholarship clusters. And, in the final part, they conclude with the approach of the book. In the chapter, the authors O Brien Robert and Marc Williams starts by giving a brief example of the 1997 Asian financial crisis in order to demonstrate the interpretation of the same event through some of the key approaches such as the liberal, economic nationalist and critical approach. The event that took place with the investors withdrawal of their money and investments has led to the 1997 Asian financial crisis. As a outcome, several Asian countries experienced economic depression and were forced to seek loans from the (11). According to the authors, theories help us in order to make sense of the world we live in (12). • 4. Final Project Lady Macbeth Macbeth Final Project Living in a world where even nature is at war with itself is challenging, and only the bravest, good hearted people will emerge triumphant. The play Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare and takes place in eleventh century Scotland. Featuring a plot full of twists and turns engages readers throughout the play. Even when the main character, Macbeth, is enticed to commit a treacherous deed which causes a chain of murders and deceptions eventually leading to Macbeth s unsightly demise, suspense is not lost. It is a masterpiece giving insight into human nature and temptation, proving that only the characters who remain true to themselves will escape unscathed from this backward place; because, in a world where... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After receiving a prophecy from the witches the he will be king, Macbeth is excited to share the news with his beloved wife. Both of them, alone, started plotting King Duncan s murder. Lady Macbeth seems better prepared to wear this mask, and hide her true intents than Macbeth does. Since Macbeth is seemingly incapable of facing Duncan without their plan written across his face, Lady Macbeth encourages him to Look like th innocent flower, but be the serpent under t (I, v, 56). It is almost as if Shakespeare wanted Macbeth to be portrayed as an actor, having to put on this mask, and deliver a convincing performance of trust and loyalty. This is evident because even though Macbeth openly expresses his distaste in Duncan s murder when he tells Lady Macbeth We will proceed no further in this business (I, vii, 32) he still ends up killing Duncan. Wearing this mask has taken its toll on Macbeth. His mind and body were opposed to the deed; which is shown to the readers when Macbeth sees a floating dagger. Perhaps hinting that his sanity is not intact. However, after it is done, Macbeth changes and starts molding himself to fit the mask he wears, accepting murder, and moving forward with his life. Masking intentions does not have to be for evil means. Malcolm masks himself in order to test Macduff, and by doing this he gains a friend and ally, rather than a crown and subjects. So while masking one s intentions can yield bountiful rewards, it can also pull them towards the path of evil, for there is no yellow brick road to get lost on in this world of ... Like a famous actor Richard Simmons once said You are one of a kind and unique. Never forget that. (Simmons) Therefore each unique person has an unique understanding of Hell and Satan. This could also explain the many controversial ideas Milton and Dante depicted helland Satan in their books. In Dante s Alighieri book The Inferno it set in the year 1300.The book starts with Dante getting lost in the woods and meeting his guide to his journey of Hell.As Dante goes on his journey he shows us the many horrors in Hell.Such as before entering Hell Dante reads a sign stating All hope abandon, ye who enter here! (Alighieri) Which would be very horrific to read in my belief. As we read further Dante explores the evil in Hell such as souls being tortured and turned into inanimate things.(The Inferno) As Dante goes further through Hell , Hell becomes unbelievably scary .Dante explored Hell and met the fierce leader of Hell at his dear home.Satan is unbelievably a scary character he doesn t even notice when Dante and Virgilpass through his chambers. The only objective is to kill. Both want to survive this war. This civil war is between republicans and free staters. Suddenly, there was a flash and a bullet whizzed over his head. While almost everyone knows about Call of Duty from at least one of its many re embodiments, not a lot of people know about Team Fortress 2. There are a lot of similarities and differences between the two games. One of them is the gameplay, another is the in game dialogue, and the final point is the storyline. The most unique thing about this taunt is that it can be joined in by anyone, meaning that even if they don t have the taunt or are even on opposite teams, they can still dance along. As for the unique dialogue, each class has different hot keys assigned to different speech quotes. For instance, pressing the e key on default settings will call for a medic to heal you. While Team Fortress 2 is talkative than Call of Duty, Call of Duty is much more silent in its dialogue. • 10. The Case Of A Christmas Carol marriage and gender roles. In the case of A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens wants readers to see how living a life that radiates love and promotes happiness is better than being selfish and living a miserable life, and how past circumstances heavily influence who we are as people. The two messages both authors want readers to take away from the story, although different, achieve the takeaway through the utilization first person narration. Furthermore, the narration in these stories also consists of free indirect discourse, which is a type of third person narration that also incorporates elements of first person narration. In both A Christmas Caroland Pride and Prejudice, free indirect discourse has the same purpose it acts as a way for a way the characters thoughts to shine through and become intertwined with the narrators thoughts. This causes the characters feelings and thoughts to be validated and be made known, which adds credibility to the narrator and creates another layer of depth within the stories. The use of first person narration and free indirect discourse is the same in both novels and allows the reader to take away the message at hand, however, the tone of the narration within the two novels slightly differs. In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austenallows her voice and opinions to be known through her narrator by being subtly critical of social hierarchy and marriage for power and status. Architecture As Space By Peter Goldberger Critical Studies 3 2015 Art Gallery Analysis Rohini Contractor 1430251 Architecture as space by Peter Goldberger discusses the significance of the interior space within architecture as it is where the viewer has a true experience. The feeling when entering a building builds a foundation for the viewers expectations and is most influential to their judgement of the space. With a comparison of a person s reaction to a building from the exterior to the interior, Goldberger explains that an exterior is viewed as a whole and seen in a context however the interior will mould the persons experience with choice of lighting, form and space. His discussion of how space can influence the users movement proves that the architect can directly control the user or even through light determine the mood either with natural lighting or use artificial lighting for something that can be controlled . After reading this text I believe there are many different aspects of the interior that play a significant role in creating an experience for anyone that enters the building. I believe it a responsibility of the architect to create a feel appropriate for the space, in the case of art galleries it should be expressive to invite visitors yet not to detract from the artwork itself. Being a commercial space it should also be suited for an audience of all ages while creating a sense of community. Written by John Steinbeck and published in 1937, it tells the heartbreaking story of two ranch workers during the depression; George Milton and Lennie Small. At the time America was very poor, with a shortage of jobs so people had to travel in search of new jobs. As many people were constantly moving, lasting friendships or relationships were hard to come across. People became scared to have friendships, scared of each other making them lonely and isolated. This animal imagery carries on through the book. This presents Lennie as almost less than human. It continued right till the end of the book when Lennie returns to where the book began. Lennie s movement is compared to that of a bear, As silently as a creeping bear moves , when he gets to the river he falls to his knees and laps up the water like an animal, just as he did at the beginning of the book. The book rounds off nicely; starting just where it had begun. Plus the first and last scenes are both described in the same manner, and both scenes talk of a water snake, with a periscope head slithering across the deep green river. In the first scene it s just sliding along no problems. However in the last scene, as it copies this gilding along the river, it s eaten by a heron. The heron symbolizes Lennie s destiny. The first scene is set at sunrise, at the beginning of the week and the beginning of George and Lennie s journey. Evolution Of Live Birth And Snakes Evolution of Live Birth in Snakes The evolution of how snakes reproduce by bearing live offspring will be discussed by determining, the evolutionary pathway of live birth, viviparity, egg laying birth, oviparity and giving live birth but being kept in the womb in eggs until being ready to hatch, ovoviviparity. Discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of each reproduction method will be determined. The objective of this paper is to discuss the factors that have contributed to the evolution of snakes being viviparous. The way snakes give birth is either through live birth, viviparity, or by laying eggs, oviparity. Snakes are located within, Reptilia, the same class many dinosaurs were located in. Reptiles are the descendants of creatures in the Paleozoic period called, Labrynthodonts. One of the earliest reptiles that resembles the snake is the, Eophis, an eight inch long snake that lived in England (Guillette Jr. 1993). The Eophis was very different compared to modern snakes, Eophis had four legs and is believed to have been living near water. The limbs are what enabled Eophis to move rapidly in water (Guillette Jr., 1993). Around 100 million years ago the limbs in Eophis were loss and limbless snakes evolved (Guillette Jr., 1993). The fossil record of early snakes is very rare due to snakes consisting of many small and very fragile bones making them easily destroyed. Most of the species classified within Reptilia are oviparous. (Guillette Jr., 1993). Snakes are no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Self scheduling did not work for everyone and there were some nurses wanted to ruin it for every one. I would have preferred that these observation or opinions were held with those nurses who were not abeyance to the self scheduling study. There could be social problems, work problems or even there might be no harmony between them and their manager. Another point, I noted that the sick calls remained steady and did not change. When ingested, it attaches to the mucosal lining of the intestines and disrupts the normal flow of ions so that there is more sodium, chloride, and water in the intestinal lumen than normal and results in massive diarrhea. Cholera has made a global impact and been endemic in almost all parts of the world. Cholera control strongly emphasizes sanitation, clean drinking water, isolation, and careful food preparation. Although the mucosa itself does not appear to be damaged by CT, the net flow of Na+ into tissue is decreased and the net flow of Cl and water out of tissue is increased so as a result, there is more Na+, Cl , and water in the lumen than there should be. This leads to massive diarrhea and great electrolyte imbalance. A patient with severe cholera can lose up to 20L of water a day (Salyers A., Abigail, 141). At times, diarrhea becomes so dilute it is almost clear, containing flecks of mucus that it is called rice water stool because of its watery consistency (Salyers A., Abigail, 142). At its most extreme, symptoms emerge in 3 4 hours, previously healthy patients can die within 6 8 hours of infection, and more commonly go into shock 6 12 hours after infection and die within 18 hours (Weekly Epidemiological Record, 6). From this point, foreigners were allowed to own properties, which they built churches afterwards, and missionaries were able to spread their religion everywhere in China. However, these actions had destroyed Chinese people s lands, and agitated them. For example, in October 1898, the boxers first attack was the Catholic Church, which was converted from the temple to Jade Emperor by Western priests. Because of the temple that had been converted was a sacred place for Chinese people, they got dissatisfied by the West s action and felt that they had to dismiss their intruders (Preston, 2000). Sisson 01 Oct 2016 The 2008 Financial Crisis is considered by many people as one of the worst recession since the Great Depression that occurred from 1929 1939. The loss for that week was an astounding $30 billion. This was ten times more than the annual federal budget and far more than the U.S. had spent in WWI (30B dollars would be equivalent to $377,587,032,770.41 today). Additionally after posing a huge effect on the U.S economy, the financial crisis expanded to Europe and the rest of the world. It brought down governments, wiped out retirement accounts, ruined economies and left a bad taste of Wall Street in the mouths of generations. These collapses caused a global scale of reform resulting in the intervention of governments by changing and expanding the monetary and fiscal policy or giving bailout that were needed in order to eliminate and control enormous effects of the financial crisis. The combustion increases the temperature of the exhaust gases, any residual air in the combustion chamber, and the combustion chamber itself. From the ideal gas law, the increased temperature of the gases also produces an increased pressure in the combustion chamber; the high pressure of the gases acting on the face of the piston cause the piston to move to which initiates the power stroke (para. 8). Unlike the compression stroke, the hot gas does work on the piston during the power stroke. The force on the piston is transmitted by the piston rod to the crankshaft, where the linear motion of the piston is converted to angular motion of the crankshaft. They can brainwash them into believing and doing whatever they desire in order to feel power. Many people have gone to great extents to harm others and even themselves. Many have killed for their devotion to their leader. How can leaders achieve such control over others? Everything that cult leaders use to manipulate all comes down to psychology. Some use fear and guilt to persuade while others brainwash them into believing that what they are doing is for the greater good and that it is all part of God s plan. Shoko Asahara gained power over his followers in the Aum Shinrikyo cult, which led various chemical attacks against the citizens of Japan, by exalting himself as the Messiah whose mission was to save humanity, a mission that many cult leaders have in common. • 38. Insomni A Common And Overlooked Sleep Problem A common and overlooked sleep problem throughout college aged people is insomnia. While some people don t even know they have it, it could be greatly affecting their outlook on life. Not getting the correct amount of sleep each night can lead to some very extreme mental health problems. These include: paranoia, hallucinations, schizophrenia, and night terrors. Could therapy help people who suffer from these health problems caused by insomnia? Researchers who conducted this experiment in the UK, Freeman at el, (2015) hypothesized insomnia is a contributory casual factor to psychotic like experiences. With the help of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), the subjects will get better sleep, therefore they will have less psychotic like experiences. The subjects for this experiment are a randomized controlled group of 2,614 college students in the UK who tested positive for insomnia (Freeman at el., p.1). The students will then be randomly split into two groups by the automated online system (p.4). One group will be treated with CBT for insomnia and the other group will be receive treatment as usual. Although it is explained that there are no exclusion criteria, all participants must be at least 18 years of age and they must test positive for insomnia. However, the participants don t have to test positive for psychotic like experiences, because they want to see how CBT works on the less extreme cases of insomnia (Freeman at el., p.3). It is easy to say, We have flown, two things fueled skepticism in the face of scientific achievement: a disbelief in technological capabilities, and a lack of demonstrable results. The Apollo missions extinguished both concerns. In terms of technology, hoax believers frequently mention the Soviets constant lead in the Space Race. They achieved many firsts, but were never able to send men to the moon; it seems logical, then, that this feat must have been beyond the Americans as well. But in reality, the United States was never far behind. In fact, by 1965, it overtook its rival, reaching many milestones that were key to manned lunar missions (e.g. space rendezvous). NASA, thus, was in a good position to travel to the moon and to the moon it traveled. As noted in Lunar Rocks and Soils from Apollo Missions, it even brought back some souvenirs, in the form of 842 pounds of moon rocks. These samples possess unique properties unseen in any Earth counterparts, and to forge these rocks in such large volumes would have been impossible. Rocks aside, there are other reasons to believe in the moon landings as well: reflectors left on the lunar surface, or landing site imagery, to name a few. Surely, the validity of the landings lacks no evidence in support. Then again, the vast majority of us have never been in space, on the moon, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
