Persuasive Essay On Immigration
Immigration has been, and continues to be a sensitive issues facing the country. The conceptions
of who should and shouldn t be welcomed are evolving, causing the proposals of new policies that
will alter the current immigration system. In May, both the Senate and White House agreed on a
new policy, only to have it criticized by people from both the left and right wings ( Immigration).
This act focuses on a shift from the importance of family reunification, or the advancement of those
with previous family ties, to a point based system, benefitting those with more education and
language skills (Immigration). Although transitioning to a point system hurts those U.S. citizens
hoping to bring family from other countries, immigration should focus on the halting of
discrimination against beneficial non relative immigrants who would contribute considerable
capital to the American economy.
Per year, around one million immigrants are granted lawful permanent residence into the United
States: family based immigration accounts for nearly two thirds of this annual quota (Gelatt). The
RAISE Act, as this new proposal is called, aims to reduce this number to half a million by
eliminating current family sponsored immigration categories to allow only spouses or minor
children of U.S. citizens to gain citizenship (Gelatt). This would result in a reduction of 226,000
family reunification green cards to 88,000 after the bill s passing (Gelatt). The most unfavorable

Queen Nzinga During The 1500 s
Queen Nzinga was believed to be born during the last half of the 1500 s. During her early life,
she grew up with her father as a leader. Her father Ngola Kiluanji Kia Samba was a ruler before
her. He started his ruling by leading his people against Portuguese colonialists. Queen Nzinga
Mbande was the monarch in Mbundu people. She became the queen when her brother committed
suicide. During that time there was rising demand for the slave trade. She always refused to
allow anybody to control her nation. This lead to tons of struggles throughout the 16th century.
Though she had no formal education she was a great leader. This was because during this time
there was some enlightenment in the education field in England but none in Africa. In 1626
Nzinga s brother had died. Some believe it was suicide because of strong people from Portugal.
The king was said to have sent Nzinga to negotiate a peace treaty with Portugal. Portugal did not
agree with these terms, then King Ngola committed suicide. Leaving Nzinga to become the queen.
Following this time Ndongo was being attacked by Portugal and other African enemies. She
decided she wanted the peace treaty to go... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

knew of everything that had happened in Congo. She also realized that if she refused to trade
with them it could remove other potential allies from her own land. After they knew the allies
would cease to exist they had several fights and disagreements with Portugal and the Portuguese
people she fought them and ended up losing. Despite this, she was not captured or killed she died

Kesha Symbolism
The release of Kesha s song, Praying signals the liberation of Kesha s musical purgatory after 4
years. Over the past few years, Kesha Rose was bound to an exclusive contract with Dr. Luke
which hasn t allowed her to release or produce any new music. She claimed in a lawsuit that this
contract enabled Dr. Luke to control every aspect of her life. Kesha has accused him of both
verbal and sexual abuse during this contract. As of March 2017, Dr. Luke s role as CEO of his
record company has been expired and Sony, the company that owned Dr. Luke s record label
didn t renew it, and has released Kesha from her contract. Now, Kesha is able to release new
music she writes on her own, all seen on her new album Rainbow which Praying is on. To
develop the underlying message of the song, Kesha uses setting, point of view, and symbolism
throughout her music video. Coming from a sensitive place in her life, Kesha uses setting in her
music video to convey her emotional state. In the music video Kesha starts off in a dark basement

Solely in the music video Kesha states If I am alive, why? Why? What is the lesson? What is
the point?... God give me a sign or I have to give up. I can t do this anymore (Rose). Kesha s
point of view is in the first person revealing only her thoughts and feelings. She does this by
speaking in the background as an inner monologue, letting the viewer/listener know that she is
only asking herself these questions. Kesha is doing this because it shows how she feels and her
attitude towards not only her life, but the concept of why she should be alive. Kesha s point of
view demonstrates her true colors by revealing her tone through rhetorical questions in the
beginning of her music video that later set a path that reveal what happens next through her song

Ebola In The Hot Zone
Introduction
In the medical thriller, The Hot Zone, Preston states that flawed decisions in outbreak situations are
a threat to human survival. Ebola is known by many to be lethal and in recent years, has caused an
interest within the public. Many in the United States have shown fear towards the threat of Ebola in
the country, which has caused many to also research the effects of Ebola on the human body.
Moreover, Ebola poses a threat to the safety of medical professionals; doctors must be able to
safely help patients without high risk of exposure to the hot virus. Of equal importance, medical
professionals involved with the treatment of hot viruses must be trained properly in order to
effectively make decisions and protect all patients and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Preston (1995) argues, [a] hot virus from the rainforest lives within a twenty four hour plane
flight from every city on earth (p. 16). In addition, only one host is needed to spread the hot
virus into a massive outbreak in any part of the world, and such an outbreak could plunge the
global population into oblivion. To further explain, Preston (1995) draws the conclusion that the
airline routes that tie earth s cities together are a web, and once a hot virus enters the web, it can
be delivered to far corners of the earth in one day (p. 16). Simple and flawed decisions by humans

Cardiac Arrests Of Children, And Opening The Reality Of...
Abstract Almost everyone who works in EMS has this one thing in common, the fear of the
pediatric call. Due to those calls being few and far between, the skills needed for a pediatric call
are rarely at their best. There are also some who don t keep their pediatric skills as sharp as
others, because of the low amount of calls they might run on kids. This paper will be focusing
on cardiac arrests in children, and opening the reality of how common it is becoming. Everything
from what causes it, what is the most common cause, and the unexplainable. The what s, how s
and whys are all questions that we will be expected to know. There is so much that goes into
these patients, physically and mentally. Knowing these things and understanding how to handle
these situations is just as important as knowing the information for a registry test. In almost most
of these incidents the family doesn t care how much you know, they care about how much you
care. Cardiac Arrests in Children We have heard it more than once, the high school football
player who has never had a health issue in his life, playing on a chilly, friday night, collapses in
the middle of the game. The player dies instantly. What was the cause, why did it happen, and how
can it be prevented are all common questions that friends, family and the strangers that share the
story on facebook, are all asking. As an autopsy is finished it is concluded that the young athlete
died of a heart abnormality that was never

The Obstructions Of The Voting Rights Movement In The...
The United States was born with democratic ideals, and the will to have an impartial government.
But throughout the existence of this nation, there have been several stutters to the goal. Many of
the obstructions to the democratic ideals come in the form of voter suppression, discrimination,
amongst others, which, throughout American history have had a large impact in the way our
government works today. Yet, many believe that events that happened in the past can t repeat
themselves today, although that is far away from the truth. To start with the current problems that
government has had in expressing true democratic values, one must look no farther away than
North Carolina, a perfect example of gerrymandering. This year, the Supreme Court ruled that two
districts, district 1, and district 12, used an exceeding amount of racial bias, effectively violating the
votingrights act of 1965. The problem with gerrymandering is that it s used to skew elections, by
redrawing districts using racially, or partisan information, a party might set up elections so that the
ruling stays in power for an indefinite amount of time, thus stopping other groups to be represented
properly, such as minorities
A problem that compromises our democratic values is voter suppression, although several pieces of
legislation have tried to take down voter suppression, particularly Jim Crow discrimination that
reigned in the south until the Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed. But, it s widely considered that

Designing A Bedroom With Vintage Style
If you love vintage decor, the bedroom is a great place to begin decorating, especially if some of
your items have sentimental value. The top of a dresser or chest can be used as a display place
for items with personal meaning, and the rest of the room can be decorated with color and style in
mind. From fancy floral tissue holders to framed tabletop photos, the space can ooze with old
fashioned charm. Use these ideas for decorating a bedroomwith vintage decor, and turn back the
hands of time while creating a comfy place for rest and relaxation.Hang a Grouping of Vintage
Paintings with Composite Frames Vintage paintings are available at flea markets, resale shops,
estate sales and online. Look for those with gilded composite frames and paper on the back that
has obviously darkened with age. They are decades old and ideal for decorating a bedroom with
vintage style. Choose subjects that coordinate with the decorating theme of the bedroom, or go
with an eclectic arrangement of pieces from around the same time period. The largest painting in
the first photo was displayed for decades on my grandmother s living roomwall, and it was an ideal
piece for my bedroom. I created a special area on top of a tall chest of drawers to hold vintage items
that had once belonged to family members. The wallabove the furnishing was the perfect place to

Swot Analysis Of Jim Sinegal s Idea For A New Business

Jim Sinegal
In 1983, Jim Sinegal s idea for a new business was a place where there were no signs identifying
isles, no advertising, no way for customers to bag their purchases, and before customers would
be allowed to shop, they had to pay an annual fee. That business is Costco and during Jim s 30
years as founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), he grew that business into the fourth largest
retailer in the country. Looking back on the legacy Jim left behind when he retired, it is clear that
Jim is one of the most visionary and ethical leaders of our modern times. First, we will look at
how Jim implemented his vision while demonstrating idealized influence by setting aside his self
interests and gaining the trust of the customer for the good of the company. Then we will explore
Costco s code of ethics that employs Dr. Toner s principles of owing, ordering, and oughting.
Finally, we will explore how Jim s leadership style has impacted me and influenced my leadership.
Visionary Leader
Jim Sinegal was a visionary leader as demonstrated by his departure from the generally accepted
retail business practices in favor of a transformational leadership style that gained the trust of his
customers. Jim founded Costco with the idea that no product would be marked up by more than 15

Examples Of Theatricalism In Angels In America
Three ways in which Angels in America fits the qualifications of theatricalism: In order to
understand the examples that I give, firstly, I will provide a brief definition of theatricalism.
Theatricalism, for the purpose of answering the question, is the following of a 20th century theatre
movement, that rather than being focused on the natural world, and staying true to that realism,
focused on the story and lesson to be said and taught without regard to whether or not the work
was realistic. Example 1, The Angel: The angel is probably the most obvious example of
theatricalism, because, though angels, may or may not exist, it is unheard of to be visited by one.
Yet, by not focusing on what is, rather what can or could be, the angel

Furthermore, when women move forward into the public sphere they are met with the sweating

Sonia Sotomayor s Book About Her Life And Her Climb From...
Sonia Sotomayor s book is about her life and her climb from the streets of New York to the place
that she is today. Her book explains the challenges that she faced growing up, losing her father at
such a young age and working hard to accomplish the great achievements that she has
accomplished today. She explains how her upbringing affected how she turned out in life. She
explains what it takes for a woman of a Latino origin to sit on the bench, and she explains her
reasoning. Sonia shows how she used what she has learnt from her past experiences and how she
applied these lessons to the new situations she faced in her life. The book is distributed all over
the United States and inspired more and more Latinos every day. In this way, she has helped them
by giving them an inspirational story that will be told for years to come, and she will be
remembered for much more than her book.
When Sonia Sotomayor was 7 years old, she was hospitalized with diabetes and she had to learn
how to give herself insulin shots by practicing on an orange. At home, her mother showed her
how to light the stove with a match, and together they would fill a pot with water to disinfect the

The Role And Development Of Gender Stereotypes In Society
There is no doubt that gender stereotypes have been a common practice throughout time. In most
societies, women have had the disadvantage when compared to the almighty male. The
responsibility of each sex has been delegated by physical and social means. Throughout history,
females largely played the lesser of genderroles, but certain criteria of specific aspects of male
expectations can negatively harm the psyche and physique. Due to social conditioning, male s
willingness to cry is heavily impacted because expressing emotionsimilar to a female is criticized
by social normality s.
On a molecular level, men acquire the hormone, testosterone, which makes them physically superior
to females. Testosterone is the, hormone responsible for male secondary sex characteristics such as
beard, body build, and voice, and aggression ( Male Sex Hormones and Aggression to Be Studied.
224). In a nomadic culture, strength is crucial to survival, thus the development of gender
stereotypes. Due to the fact that men have more testosterone than women, their responsibility was
to hunt game and offer protection for their people. However women, produce estrogen. Estrogen is
a hormone released that causes secondary sex characteristic in women (Shirtcliff). Women fulfilled
the position as a homeВmaker . Considering the physical aspects of both genders, men held the
dominant roll in society.
As civilization formed a pathway of inferiority for women, it also created unrealistic ideals for male

Prescriptive English Essay
Linguists and other scholars who study language do not take prescriptive grammar rules
seriously. To them, understanding the meaning and function of words is more important than
correction. They belief that language is not an empirical fact and that it is not universal, there
are hundreds of dialects in a language which means that there are hundreds of grammars as well.
There is also no scientific validation that can be done on prescriptive grammar. The majority of
what native speakers know about their language wasn t taught to them explicitly but in an
implicit way through the communicative teaching approach which is a more natural way of
speaking and has more to do with whether the message the speaker tries to convey is
understood. One example of this is a very common one; a person says Can I use the bathroom?
which is grammatically wrong because of course he/she can, but the question should be May I
use the bathroom? which is asking for permission. If both of the questions are meant to be
understood in the same way by the person who is asking it and the person who is listening, why
should it be wrong? Some examples of popular, enduring prescriptive rules in English are that a
person shouldn t split infinitives, for example: He decided to quickly leave the room you should
say he decided quickly to leave the room. You shouldn t end a sentence with a preposition, for
example: which student did you talk to? you should say: To which student did you talk? Knowing

Aircraft Carriers Research Paper
Aircraft carriers are essentially the backbone of the United States Navy as they are a hybrid
warship with the unique ability to provide the greatest projection of power through the aircraft
launched off of their 4.5 acre flight decks. Beyond their vital aircraft launching capabilities, they
support the largest number of crew members over any other class of ship making them a
powerhouse for almost any mission type designated to them. With the aircraft carrier holding the
title of being the flagship and most valued asset of the United States Navy also comes the
accompanying hefty price tag of production and running costs. All that the aircraft carriers offer

6). Although the carriers have adequately carried out their missions during their decades of
service, constant repairs are signaling the end of their lifespan. Furthermore, significant
advancements in technology have necessitated a successor class. The flagship for the new Ford
class, the USS Gerald R. Ford, comes with a hefty price tag of $13.5 billion (Hendrix, At What
Cost a Carrier? 6). For the price, the Ford class carriers come with an improved aircraft launch
system which increases its potential sortie rate to 160 a day, which translates to a 33 percent
increase in launch capacity from its predecessor (Hendrix, At What Cost a Carrier? 6). An
aircraft carrier is only as effective as its air wing. Therefore the potential sortie number for a
carrier versus its cost can accurately be used to determine the effectiveness of the carrier. When
comparing the Ford class to the Nimitz class, Hendrix argues that the nation is paying nearly 94
percent more for a carrier that can only do 33 percent more work (At What Cost a Carrier? 6).
Although some members of the Navy believe the increase in the output of the new Ford class
carriers to be significant enough to justify the increase in cost. This is reflected in their willingness

Benefits Of A Company On The World One Car At A Time

they are saving their customers money, which I find interesting due to the fact it is similar to

of hyping them up one last time before they would charge onto their enemies. When viewing this
speech we can see that he uses a combination of several rhetorical devices in order to persuade his
men. He uses a combination of ethos, appealing to the ethics, and pathos, appealing the the
emotions. The use of such strategies gave legitimacy to the words Henry spoke, and rallied his
troops. He stated in the speech On, on, you noblest English, whose blood is fet from father of
war proof, father that, like so many Alexanders, have in these parts from morn till even fought
and sheathed their swords for lack of argument. Dishonor not your mothers. Now attest that
those whom called fathers did beget you (Henry III.i.). In this section of his speech he is using
pathos to utilize the emotions of the soldiers as motivation to go out into battle and give
everything they have. He tells them to not embarrass their families and to do something that
they will be proud of. Later he states Follow your spirit, and upon this charge cry God for Harry,
England, and Saint George! (Henry III.i.). This last piece brings in the device of using ethos to
persuade them. By saying his name and their country he is applying an ethical piece to his speech
that shows them that they have to do this for their country and for him. They need to win this fight
to do those two things proud. The use of these two rhetorical devices are part of the last things
these soldiers hear before they put their life on the line in battle. They give them the last push
needed to win the

Political Socialization
Chapter 11 public opinion Political Socialization Essay Question Most people are exposed to the
same principals and agents of political socialization. Families spread values that support political
authorities and can heavily contribute to children s initial political ideological views, or party
preferences. Families influence political knowledge and identification depending on variables
such as family demographics, life cycle, parenting style, parental level of political skepticism and
frequency of political discussions. Demographics such as gender and age also attribute to political
socialization. School is another agent of political socialization. Spending numerous years in school,
children in the United States are taught and reinforced a view of the world that their text books tell
them to trust. Through primary, secondary and high schools, students are taught key principles
such as individual rights and property, personal responsibility and duty to their nation. Another is
mass media. Mass media is not only a source of political information; it is an influence on political
values and beliefs. Various media outlets, through news coverage and late night programs, provide
different partisan policy stances that are associated with political participation. Religions, beliefs,
and practices play a role in political opinion formation and political participation. The perspective
offered by religious institutions shape judgement regarding public policy, and political decision

Essay On Frankenstein
Mary Shelley is one of the best known authors of gothic literature. Her most famous work is the
horror novel Frankenstein which she wrote at the early age of 20. Since she was so young when
writing the novel, it is interesting to ask for her ideas and the source of inspiration for the content
of her story. In literary studies, Roland Barthes theory says that the author and so his or her life
should not be the reference point for an analysis (Jannidis et al. 182). Nevertheless in some stories,
the traces of the author are so strong and important that they cannot be ignored when analysing the
story. Therefore, this essay will examine the traces of Mary Shelley s biography in Frankenstein
with reference to mother s death, different places... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shelley s stepmother did not want the children to be highly educated due to her own only
average education. Shelley probably educated herself through reading a lot and the comings and
goings of such rare personalities as Lamb and Coleridge to the house (Sparks 13). This might
serve as an argument why books and reading are often mentioned in Frankenstein. Education is
also important for Victor Frankenstein. He studies in Germany and becomes a scientist with
deep knowledge in this area. Not only for Victor, education also plays a major role for other
characters. For example, Elizabeth is sad because she [has] not the same opportunities of
enlarging her experience, and cultivating her understanding (Shelley 106) when Victor leaves to
visit France, the Netherlands, Scotland and England. So even for a woman, knowledge was
desirable. Due to the lack of a high education, it might be that Shelley was not able to speak any
foreign languages. She might come to terms with it and the probable wish to speak other
languages through the detailed description of the acquisition of a language (Shelley 74 79). In
conclusion, one can see that education played a key role in Shelley s life even if she was not
allowed to take part in it as much as she would have

A Study On Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), founded in 1865, is a private higher education institute that
is dedicated towards science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. There are 75 departments
that are currently active at WPI. The departments consists of undergraduate and graduate research
along with supporting departments such as the Library, Admissions, Sports Recreation just to
name a few. There are over 6,000 active students and about 2518 employees at WPI of which only
480 of them are faculty members, professors of practice, or instructors.
At WPI in order to buy anything for the department they have to use an out dated purchasing
system that wastes a lot of time to get a simple order placed. When a department wants to place
an order for any supply whether its simple office supplies, lab supplies or lab equipment it can
involve many tedious steps. For example, in the Chemical Engineering Department where
Felicia currently works, a professor or student will submit an electronic Purchase Order sheet
which indicates quantities, prices, descriptions and any other pertinent information such as a
needed by date or coupon codes and/or quote numbers. From there Felicia or her coworker (also
a purchasing agent) will visit a specific vendor site and order exactly what s indicated. In order to
do any kind of comparison shopping other individual vendor sites would also need to be visited
but if a purchasing agent is not familiar with where to get a specific product

The Effects Of Climate Change On Natural Disasters
The Effect of Climate Change on Natural Disasters What is climate change? According to
Dictionary.com climate change is: a long term change in the earth s climate, especially a change
due to an increase in the average atmospheric temperature . The increase of the Earth s surface
temperature is largely due to the effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxideemissions from
burning fossil fuels or from deforesta tion. These emissions are what traps heat onto the Earths
surface, which, in turn, dramatically increase the climate. Climate change has many consequences
including various natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and storms.
Recently, a link has been drawn between the increase in global warmingand recent hurri cane
activity in the Atlantic Ocean. Hurricanes have always been a major concern for those living on
the coast, but research has shown that global warming is only making them worse. Due to climate
change and the arctic ice melt, sea levels are rising, which then heightens the frequency and
severity of the storms. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, in a tropical cy clone, air
rotates inward to the center (the eye), then rises to higher altitudes. As warm, moist air rises, the air
cools and condenses to rain, releasing heat. This cycle of evaporation and condensa tion powers the
storm . Recent scientific research suggests a connection between the destructive power of
hurricanes and global warming. There are

Noninfective Fluid Occur In The Middle Ear
The middle ear, which can be referred to as the Tympanic membrane, is responsible for transmitting
sound waves from the outer ear into the inner ear. It accomplishes this by using three bones which
are called the auditory ossicles. The three bones involved are the Malleus, the incus and stapes.
These bones connect the tympanic membrane (eardrum) to the oval window of the inner ear. Each
bone has a special function in the transmission of vibrations that will be discussed below. Although,
the middle ear is usually good at maintaining balance and free from organisms; it can also be
infected from other factors and complications. The middle ear can be easily infected when foreign
matter enters the canal or the Eustachian tube, which connects to the nasopharynx. This can also
lead to ear infections even if the patient has sinus infection or any upper respiratory infection that
can contribute. Since the nasopharynx connects to the middle ear, drainage and bacteriacan invade

The US Economy In The 19th Century
The United States had the world s largest national economy and most diversified economy not
including the benefit of colonial empires since the 1890s. The United States began as a European
settlement in the 16th Century. The economy blossomed to an independent agrarian economy from
a moderately successful colonial system and went on to become a powerful industrial nation in less
than a century after the nation became independent of Great Britain in 1776. The resulting high
wages and high rates of employment attracted immigrants from all over the world. By the middle of
the 19th Century, the US economy began to go through growing pains due to its rapid expansion.

Volkswagen As A Car Company
The company I have chosen for my project is Volkswagen. Volkswagen is in the automotive
industry. Volkswagen is a German car company that is best known for the punch buggy and their
diesel model cars. Volkswagen mostly produces cheap to mid priced cars. Volkswagen has always
been one of the most successful companies in the automobile industry.
Volkswagenhas always been a very large competitor in automotive industry, however recently
Volkswagen has seen a drop in sales due to a discovery made by the EPA. The EPA found that
diesel engine cars made by Volkswagen had a program that lowered emissions readings when the
cars were tested. So when the car was tested the reading would show the car was producing a lower
amount of emissions then it actually was. Volkswagen recently came out in September and
admitted they placed the program in their cars and cheated the emissions testing. More than ten
million Volkswagen cars have been effected by this scandal. So what does this mean for
Volkswagen?
First off this causes a shift in demand. Because of the news of Volkswagen cheating on
emissions testing people aren t going to trust them or their cars and this is going to cause a
decrease in demand. One of the demand shifters that we learned in class was taste and
preferences. Taste and preferences is a shifter that would decrease the demand of Volkswagen.
Many people buying cars today prefer buying a car that produces less emissions because it s better
for the environment. One of the

Man And Leapor s Essay On Woman
Optimism vs. Pessimism in Pope s Essay on Man and Leapor s Essay on Woman
Both Alexander Pope s Essay on Man, Epistle 2 and Mary Leapor s Essay on Woman expound the
fatalist contention that neither man nor woman can win, as each individual exists in a world of
trade offs. Yet, by each author s singulartechnique of sculpting his ideas with the literary tools of
contrast, argument, and syntax, the cores of the two essays turn back to back, evolving into
distinct, but contrary perspectives of Man s (in respect to mankind) and Woman s existence. Pope
asserts that a profusion of trade offs establish a certain equilibrium point where Man hangs on this
isthmus of a middle state (Magill 2629). After defining the boundaries of Man s ... Show more

Pope chooses neither good nor bad connotations ( A being darkly wise, and rudely great ) to avoid
judging either of man s extremes. Instead he skillfully chooses each word to avoid judging either
extreme as good or bad, right or wrong. Darkly, on its own, connotes the unseen, the undefined
and is uniquely paired with wise, a word denoting a grasp on definition or reason. Rudely great
again combines two impartial words that seem to stand in a paradox as a unit rudely suggests low
class and lack of refinement (but lacks the moral judgment of crudely ) while great indicates
superiority, prominence and nobility (without implying self righteous conceit, as grand might have
done). Paired, however, each phrase ( Darkly wise and rudely great ) carries on its own distinctive
hybridized meaning. Darkly wise, comes to depict an indefinite sensibility and rudely great, denotes
an unrefined dignity. Much simpler contrasts between black and white, dark and light, strength and
weakness might have sufficed, but, efforting to capture the depth of Man s character, Pope creates
contrasts that escape the banality of common antonyms and espouse the sundry spectrums of
qualities that comprise Man s character. By these contrasts, Pope was able to construct his thesis,
case in point, by illustrating the creative conglomeration that propitiously sets Man apart from God
and beast.
Leapor contrasts images to illustrate the perfection of woman and the

A Visit to the Saturn V Rocket
Underneath the largest rocket in the world, on May 8, starting at 11:00, were sixth graders. The
entire sixth grade of South Mckeel Academy slept underneath the Saturn V rocket. Not an
experience to forget. Previously, the middle schoolers had taken a brief tour of the Kennedy Space
Center Visitor Complex, which houses the space shuttle Atlantis. They would actually get to visit
the shops and kiosks on Friday, the day after. Onto the subject of the rocket itself. Mostly yellow,
the Saturn V rocket is the only functional rocket still fully intact. This is because it has never been
out of Earth s orbit, much less in space. The length? The equivalent of 9 KSC (Kennedy Space
Center) tour buses. In other words and measurements , 363 feet. Underneath the rocket, among
the sleeping 6th graders, was a cold temperature. By the displays of astronauts suits, lunar rovers,
lunar landers, samples of the moon s surface, etc. the coldness was not as evident, in fact by the
exhibits one might go so far as to say warm. The area where the base of the rocket was built was
visible, painted a light shade of green, towards the tip of the rocket. Boys were to sleep in stage
one, near the base of the rocket, while girls occupied stages two and three closer to the tip of the
rocket. Around 9:30 the ravenous juveniles were given a snack of sun chips and water bottles, the
latter of which they were welcome to at any time of the night. The staff members of the

If students were shouting and protesting in classrooms, the school would be able to step in because

Has freedom of speech changed since then? Some schools nowadays punish kids for online
social media comments. (WHEELER) For example, if a student posts something on Facebook,
and another kid comments on that status with a rude remark, the kid who posted it could take
that to the principal s office and the kid who commented on it could get in trouble. Some could
say it was cyber bullying, some could say it was just a witty/rude remark, not meant to be taken
seriously. Is this a violation of free speech/expression? Another reason school authority figures
have a lot of power over whether or not a student gets in trouble for what they say, posts, or wears,
is that the school can discipline a student just because they personally or morally did not like the
comment/post. Most of the time, the kids that get in trouble for something they post are in their
own home, on their own laptop, during their free time outside of school. So why does the school
have so much power over these situations the majority of the time? The digital age, with its
wonderful capacity to democratize speech, is so important to students rights, but also carries new
and interesting threats to students rights, Tinker says. If we don t encourage young people to use

Introduction Of Inheritance Tax ( Iht )
Introduction to Inheritance Tax (IHT)
Inheritance tax or IHT is becoming more of a concern to many people.
Most properties or assets you leave after you pass away are not being charged with inheritance tax
because their cumulative value isn t high enough. However more properties are being dragged into
the net of IHT due to the increasing real estate prices but with careful planning there s a lot that can
be done to soften the effects of Inheritance Tax.
Who is liable to pay inheritance Tax?
Individuals with permanent address in the UK are caught by IHT on assets they own anywhere
around the world. Individuals with permanent address outside the UK only pay UK inheritance tax
on assets that are physically located in the UK, but they may be liable to pay foreign inheritance tax
on non UK assets in their home countries.

risk of diseases that may be carried. Therefore, the decision to halt the migration of Norwegian rats

The Negro Artist And The Racial Mountain By Langston Hughes
The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain is a short essay written for The Nation Magazine by
the poet Langston Hughes, it quickly became a manifesto for the Harlem Renaissance. The
Racial Mountain , is the racial struggles that black Americans face in all areas, but with a
particular focus on art. It explores issues of standardisation and a form of cultural identity crisis
with black artists in America who rather than accepting themselves with a cultural pride, try to
emulate the white Americans. Hughes asserts that black artists should stop trying to copy whites
as they will never create anything great that way. Instead they should draw from black culture
and express it through art with pride. He uses an unidentified promising young black poet to
affirm these views, one day this poet told him I want to be a poet not a Negro poet . This
statement to Hughes meant I want to be a white poet , or more alarmingly to Hughes I want to be
white .
Hughes understands the poet s desires to be a desire to turn away from his African American
heritage and instead absorb the white culture. Hughes essay raises the concerns of the Harlem
Renaissance as it celebrates African American innovations such as blues, spirituals, jazz, and
literary works which engage African American life. He highlights that,... Show more content on

The Swing Portrays by Jean-HonorГ© Fragonard
Jean HonorГ© Fragonard created The Swing in 1766 with oil paints on a 2 8.6 by 2 2 canvas. It
is located in London, England in the Wallace Collection. During the time this work was created,
France was an aristocracy and The Swing portrays a glimpse of the luxurious life of the ruling
class. King Louis XV ruled during a time when France was the most prosperous and powerful
country in all of Europe. Through the influence of Madame de Pompadour, the arts prospered
during this time. In the 18th century during King Louis reign the arts seemed to consume the
thoughts of not only the artists themselves but also the King and other wealthy and influential
members of society. This in turn resulted in neglect of the undertakings of the state, which had its
consequences. In 1789, the bloody French Revolution took place and soon after, the fall of the
monarchy. The Swing is undoubtedly the most famous of all Fragonard s compositions. It
epitomizes the Rococo style of the 18th century with tranquil colors and gentle light, exaggerated
diagonals, decorations, and nature. . The libertine Baron de St. Julien commissioned this piece. He
ordered that Fragonard paint the bishop pushing his Madame on a swing. Fragonard painted for
the baron de Saint Julien his first great masterpiece and from then on he knew that for the rest of
his life he would paint for people of wealth. He painted for many individuals including the king
because his talent was something that everyone desired. The

Extreme Poverty In The United States
Extreme poverty is characterized as the lack of ability to access essential items to live such as food,
clothing, medicine, and shelter. In the United States, and many other wealthy and developed
nations, many people experience what is known as relative poverty which is essentially a measure
of income inequality and is usually dependent on social views and opportunity rather than complete
scarcity. Povertyin the United States, while not as severe, is still a major issue. I will discuss the
effects that poverty has on families today in America and how it relates to single mothers, food
insecurity, and education.
Stephanie Mencimer states in her article, What if Everything You Knew About Race Was Wrong? ,
that poverty has had a deep and negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While A Place at the Table reveals the intrinsic link between poverty and hunger in the United
States and how food insecurity affects children s health and education, Sarah Garland, in her
article, When Class Became More Important to a Child s Education Than Race, explains many
other aspects of how social class effects education. Garland describes an education gap amongst
lower and higher income families that is due to several causes related to social classes. The low
test scores and concentration issues discussed by Jacobson and Silverbush could possibly be

The Radicalism of the American Revolution
In The Radicalism of the American Revolution Gordon Wood attempts to disprove the common
thought that the American Revolution was simply a war for independence from a tyrannical
mother country. He explains how America formed such a unique from of government. The form
that American government took was a collaboration of many different forms that emphasized the
rights of individuals. Woods finds it essential to explain colonial life and the factors that dictated
people s lives to understand how radical the revolution was compared to other revolutions. In the
1700 s it was impossible for people to imagine a society operating independently of government, but
through shifts in society and through parallel shifts in government that is what emerge. Up until the
American Revolutionsociety and government were interwoven. Once Woods explains society and
the shifts that were taking place in society and government, he goes on to explain the nature of
republicanism. The ideals of republicanism took a firm hold in the colonies. He claims that
republican disinterest was essential to the formation of America. This term is oftenly thought of as
public virtue or the willingness to sacrifice private interests for the sake of the community including
serving in office without pecuniary reward . When the nation formed citizens, particularly the
elites, were pushed to overlook private interests and developed a disinterested state of mind in order
to further the state of the republic.

Change Management At The Workplace
CHANGE MANAGEMENT IN THE WORKPLACE THOMAS M. GILL WAYLAND
BAPTIST UNIVERSITY Change management in the working setting is constant for all
Managers and leaders alike. To stay applicable and competitive businesses, managers, and
supervisors should as often as possible reclassify their technique for working, item/benefit
offerings and the impact this may have on your team, or shareholders. (Holmes, 2013) for
instance when we lead change (vast or minute) see to it that these four fundamentals are on your
agenda of things to do; make a feeling of earnestness, make a reasonable tomorrow, get people
consideration and get people involved at the right level, have clear actions or expectations and
desires. Nevertheless, managing change in the workplace shapes a feeling of uneasiness for a
great many people, any change is uncomfortable. Therefore, while we oversee changes in the
work environment, it is our obligation to help people in understanding that whatever they have
done truly should now change. Therefore, Managers and leaders must work to jump start interest
of purpose to get individuals excited to work out of their usual range of familiarity and grasp the
change. (Holmes, 2013) Let shareholders know why the old way is no more viable, by disclosure
persuading and genuine proof that individuals can feel, see, and touch that change must happen.
Whether we understand it or not, change is important in an association for it to keep being relevant
as a business, or for it to

Studies in Emotional Intelligence
There is a growing interest in the concept of emotional intelligence, and with that growth is a gap
between what we know and what we need to know. In the article, Emotional Intelligence: Issues and
Common Misunderstandings, Robert J. Emmerling and Daniel Goleman inquire as to what
emotional intelligence is, how it differs from other established constructs within psychology,
whether or not it can be developed, whether or not it can be a better predictor of work performance
than traditional measures of intelligence, whether or not it should be measured at all, and how it
relates to ethics.
Emotional intelligence has a potential utility in predicting a range of criterion across different
populations, but its predictive validity depends on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first major theory in the emotional intelligence paradigm was that of Bar On and it was
developed in 1988. In his theory he coined the term emotional quotient (EQ). His model is
defined by a selection of abilities and traits related to social and emotional knowledge that
influence our ability to cope with environmental demands. It can be viewed as a model of
psychological adaptation and well being. The Bar On model includes the abilities to be aware of,
understand, and express oneself, to be aware of, understand and relate to others, to deal with
strong emotions and control one s impulses, and to adapt to change and solve problems of a social
or personal nature. It deals with general mood, stress management, adaptability, interpersonal
skills, and intrapersonal skills. EQ provides a reliable and valid estimate of an individuals ability to
cope with everyday demands and pressures.
In 1997, Mayer and Salovey developed a theory of emotional intelligence and instruments to
measure it because traditional measures of intelligence failed to measure differences in the ability
to perceive, process, and manage emotions. Their theory is defined by the ability to regulate
emotions to promote emotional and intellectual growth, understand emotions and emotional
knowledge, access and generate

The Bible And Forgiveness
What injuries to yourself from others would you find especially hard to get over or forgive? Explain.
The Bible says, Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ
God forgave you (Ephesians 4:32). I personally try to live by the Bible every day. Times do get
hard and certain circumstances hurt more than others, but we are all called to forgive one another at
the end of the day. Forgivenessand getting over a situation are, in my opinion, two separate acts.
Forgiveness should be given to all, but completely ignoring and disregarding the situation is not
appropriate. I have a hard time in trusting others; every person is broken and flawed, and although it
is not always meant to be intentionally hurtful, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was the longest relationship I had ever been in, and he was my first love. I don t give out
trust to many people, and he was the first person who I felt as if I could trust my life with. He
was able to gain all my trust and he held me in the palm of his hand. I thought we would last for a
long time and that we would never give up on one another. Whenever I moved, we were both
determined to keep our relationship alive and well until he could come down to Georgia to live.
He was soon to be enlisted. I had always thought highly of him, even when he was at his lowest.
I never thought bad about him or felt as if there was any reason for me not to trust him. Right
before he went off to boot camp I found out he had been cheating on me the last six months of
our relationship with many different girls who claimed to be some of my best friends. I was
hurt more than ever, and it was because I trusted that he would be faithful and that the girls
would have enough sense to not be involved in unfaithful acts with my boyfriend at the time. My
trust for both him and my friends were lost that day, and my heart ached of a pain that it had
never felt before. I couldn t breathe, and I did not know how I was going to go on with my life. No
person knew what to say to make me feel better. I blamed myself. I blamed myself for trusting
someone who did not deserve my trust. I did forgive him for the things he did to me, as I forgave
the girls he did it

Revolutionary War Influence
The American Revolutionary War was the most influential war in American History. The
Background of the war is the British were taxing the colonists heavily and creating outrageous
laws. Such as the Intolerable Acts, where the British took away access to the Boston Port. They
also took away some of their rights to self government. They made trail for British officials
available in Britain and made it legal to search homes and buildings. The colonists were fed up with
the British and started rebelling. They had rebellions such as the Boston Tea Party, where they
dumped tons of Britain s tea into the Boston Harbor. The start of the battle took place in Lexington
Massachusetts. A unknown minuteman fired a shot at a British soldier which, started... Show more

Query Sequence And Analysis Of Verify3d
According to the model evaluation program Verify3D, 80.00% of the amino acid residues in this
homology model had an average 3D 1D score greater than 0.2, which qualifies it as a passing model
(LГјthy et al., 1992). However, between residues 44 66 on the Verify3D plot, the score dips below
the 0.2 threshold, falling as low as 0.04. This can be explained by the fact that when aligned against
each other, the query sequenceand template sequence consist of different types of amino acid
residues in this range (Table 1). The query sequence consists of the residues
YTAEADGNTIFTKTIPSGITISA, while the template sequence 4IPU_A consists of the residues

Moreover, based on ProSA s local plot, the model displays low energy scores (negative delta g)
throughout most of the plot in the template sequence, indicating a highly favorable model.
Additionally, as shown in figure 1, for this template model, ProQ3 shows a ProQ3D score of
.659 (Uziela et al., 2017). Similarly, as shown in figure 2, for the experimentally determined
structure of this template (PDB ID: 4IPU), ProQ3 shows a ProQ3D score of .537. Since the
template model scored slightly higher than the known structure and is closer to 1, the model
generated can be deemed as acceptable. Overall, given the positive results of most of these these
evaluation programs, it can be concluded that the template model 4IPU_A is likely reliable and
gives a highly accurate alignment.
According to the model evaluation program Verify3D, 79.63% of the amino acidresidues in this
homology model had an average 3D 1D score greater than 0.2, which qualifies it as a warning
model (LГјthy et al., 1992). This indicates that it may be a reliable model, but other evaluation
programs must be used in order to verify this. Between residues 19 32 and 65 71 on the Verify3D
plot, the score dips below the 0.2 threshold, falling as low as 0.04. This can be explained by the

In May, both the Senate and White House agreed on a new policy, only to have it criticized by people from both the left and right wings ( Immigration). This act focuses on a shift from the importance of family reunification, or the advancement of those with previous family ties, to a point based system, benefitting those with more education and language skills (Immigration). Although transitioning to a point system hurts those U.S. citizens hoping to bring family from other countries, immigration should focus on the halting of discrimination against beneficial non relative immigrants who would contribute considerable capital to the American economy. Per year, around one million immigrants are granted lawful permanent residence into the United States: family based immigration accounts for nearly two thirds of this annual quota (Gelatt). The RAISE Act, as this new proposal is called, aims to reduce this number to half a million by eliminating current family sponsored immigration categories to allow only spouses or minor children of U.S. citizens to gain citizenship (Gelatt). This would result in a reduction of 226,000 family reunification green cards to 88,000 after the bill s passing (Gelatt). The most unfavorable aspect of the revision ... But throughout the existence of this nation, there have been several stutters to the goal. Many of the obstructions to the democratic ideals come in the form of voter suppression, discrimination, amongst others, which, throughout American history have had a large impact in the way our government works today. Yet, many believe that events that happened in the past can t repeat themselves today, although that is far away from the truth. To start with the current problems that government has had in expressing true democratic values, one must look no farther away than North Carolina, a perfect example of gerrymandering. This year, the Supreme Court ruled that two districts, district 1, and district 12, used an exceeding amount of racial bias, effectively violating the votingrights act of 1965. The problem with gerrymandering is that it s used to skew elections, by redrawing districts using racially, or partisan information, a party might set up elections so that the ruling stays in power for an indefinite amount of time, thus stopping other groups to be represented properly, such as minorities A problem that compromises our democratic values is voter suppression, although several pieces of legislation have tried to take down voter suppression, particularly Jim Crow discrimination that reigned in the south until the Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed. In most societies, women have had the disadvantage when compared to the almighty male. The responsibility of each sex has been delegated by physical and social means. Throughout history, females largely played the lesser of genderroles, but certain criteria of specific aspects of male expectations can negatively harm the psyche and physique. Due to social conditioning, male s willingness to cry is heavily impacted because expressing emotionsimilar to a female is criticized by social normality s. To them, understanding the meaning and function of words is more important than correction. They belief that language is not an empirical fact and that it is not universal, there are hundreds of dialects in a language which means that there are hundreds of grammars as well. There is also no scientific validation that can be done on prescriptive grammar. The majority of what native speakers know about their language wasn t taught to them explicitly but in an implicit way through the communicative teaching approach which is a more natural way of speaking and has more to do with whether the message the speaker tries to convey is understood. One example of this is a very common one; a person says Can I use the bathroom? which is grammatically wrong because of course he/she can, but the question should be May I use the bathroom? which is asking for permission. If both of the questions are meant to be understood in the same way by the person who is asking it and the person who is listening, why should it be wrong? Some examples of popular, enduring prescriptive rules in English are that a person shouldn t split infinitives, for example: He decided to quickly leave the room you should say he decided quickly to leave the room. You shouldn t end a sentence with a preposition, for example: which student did you talk to? you should say: To which student did you talk? Knowing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the price, the Ford class carriers come with an improved aircraft launch system which increases its potential sortie rate to 160 a day, which translates to a 33 percent increase in launch capacity from its predecessor (Hendrix, At What Cost a Carrier? 6). An aircraft carrier is only as effective as its air wing. Therefore the potential sortie number for a carrier versus its cost can accurately be used to determine the effectiveness of the carrier. When comparing the Ford class to the Nimitz class, Hendrix argues that the nation is paying nearly 94 percent more for a carrier that can only do 33 percent more work (At What Cost a Carrier? 6). • 24. Essay On Frankenstein Mary Shelley is one of the best known authors of gothic literature. Her most famous work is the horror novel Frankenstein which she wrote at the early age of 20. Since she was so young when writing the novel, it is interesting to ask for her ideas and the source of inspiration for the content of her story. In literary studies, Roland Barthes theory says that the author and so his or her life should not be the reference point for an analysis (Jannidis et al. 182). Nevertheless in some stories, the traces of the author are so strong and important that they cannot be ignored when analysing the story. Therefore, this essay will examine the traces of Mary Shelley s biography in Frankenstein with reference to mother s death, different places... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shelley s stepmother did not want the children to be highly educated due to her own only average education. Shelley probably educated herself through reading a lot and the comings and goings of such rare personalities as Lamb and Coleridge to the house (Sparks 13). This might serve as an argument why books and reading are often mentioned in Frankenstein. Education is also important for Victor Frankenstein. He studies in Germany and becomes a scientist with deep knowledge in this area. Not only for Victor, education also plays a major role for other characters. For example, Elizabeth is sad because she [has] not the same opportunities of enlarging her experience, and cultivating her understanding (Shelley 106) when Victor leaves to visit France, the Netherlands, Scotland and England. So even for a woman, knowledge was desirable. Due to the lack of a high education, it might be that Shelley was not able to speak any foreign languages. She might come to terms with it and the probable wish to speak other languages through the detailed description of the acquisition of a language (Shelley 74 79). In conclusion, one can see that education played a key role in Shelley s life even if she was not allowed to take part in it as much as she would have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. The Effects Of Climate Change On Natural Disasters The Effect of Climate Change on Natural Disasters What is climate change? According to Dictionary.com climate change is: a long term change in the earth s climate, especially a change due to an increase in the average atmospheric temperature . The increase of the Earth s surface temperature is largely due to the effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxideemissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforesta tion. These emissions are what traps heat onto the Earths surface, which, in turn, dramatically increase the climate. Climate change has many consequences including various natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and storms. Recently, a link has been drawn between the increase in global warmingand recent hurri cane activity in the Atlantic Ocean. Hurricanes have always been a major concern for those living on the coast, but research has shown that global warming is only making them worse. Due to climate change and the arctic ice melt, sea levels are rising, which then heightens the frequency and severity of the storms. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, in a tropical cy clone, air rotates inward to the center (the eye), then rises to higher altitudes. As warm, moist air rises, the air cools and condenses to rain, releasing heat. This cycle of evaporation and condensa tion powers the storm . Recent scientific research suggests a connection between the destructive power of hurricanes and global warming. There are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Noninfective Fluid Occur In The Middle Ear The middle ear, which can be referred to as the Tympanic membrane, is responsible for transmitting sound waves from the outer ear into the inner ear. It accomplishes this by using three bones which are called the auditory ossicles. The three bones involved are the Malleus, the incus and stapes. These bones connect the tympanic membrane (eardrum) to the oval window of the inner ear. Each bone has a special function in the transmission of vibrations that will be discussed below. Although, the middle ear is usually good at maintaining balance and free from organisms; it can also be infected from other factors and complications. Volkswagenhas always been a very large competitor in automotive industry, however recently Volkswagen has seen a drop in sales due to a discovery made by the EPA. So when the car was tested the reading would show the car was producing a lower amount of emissions then it actually was. Volkswagen recently came out in September and admitted they placed the program in their cars and cheated the emissions testing. More than ten million Volkswagen cars have been effected by this scandal. So what does this mean for Volkswagen? First off this causes a shift in demand. Because of the news of Volkswagen cheating on emissions testing people aren t going to trust them or their cars and this is going to cause a decrease in demand. Man And Leapor s Essay On Woman Optimism vs. Pessimism in Pope s Essay on Man and Leapor s Essay on Woman Both Alexander Pope s Essay on Man, Epistle 2 and Mary Leapor s Essay on Woman expound the fatalist contention that neither man nor woman can win, as each individual exists in a world of trade offs. Yet, by each author s singulartechnique of sculpting his ideas with the literary tools of contrast, argument, and syntax, the cores of the two essays turn back to back, evolving into distinct, but contrary perspectives of Man s (in respect to mankind) and Woman s existence. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pope chooses neither good nor bad connotations ( A being darkly wise, and rudely great ) to avoid judging either of man s extremes. Instead he skillfully chooses each word to avoid judging either extreme as good or bad, right or wrong. Darkly, on its own, connotes the unseen, the undefined and is uniquely paired with wise, a word denoting a grasp on definition or reason. Rudely great again combines two impartial words that seem to stand in a paradox as a unit rudely suggests low class and lack of refinement (but lacks the moral judgment of crudely ) while great indicates superiority, prominence and nobility (without implying self righteous conceit, as grand might have done). Paired, however, each phrase ( Darkly wise and rudely great ) carries on its own distinctive hybridized meaning. Darkly wise, comes to depict an indefinite sensibility and rudely great, denotes an unrefined dignity. Much simpler contrasts between black and white, dark and light, strength and weakness might have sufficed, but, efforting to capture the depth of Man s character, Pope creates contrasts that escape the banality of common antonyms and espouse the sundry spectrums of qualities that comprise Man s character. By these contrasts, Pope was able to construct his thesis, case in point, by illustrating the creative conglomeration that propitiously sets Man apart from God and beast. The Negro Artist And The Racial Mountain By Langston Hughes The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain is a short essay written for The Nation Magazine by the poet Langston Hughes, it quickly became a manifesto for the Harlem Renaissance. The Racial Mountain , is the racial struggles that black Americans face in all areas, but with a particular focus on art. It explores issues of standardisation and a form of cultural identity crisis with black artists in America who rather than accepting themselves with a cultural pride, try to emulate the white Americans. Hughes asserts that black artists should stop trying to copy whites as they will never create anything great that way. Instead they should draw from black culture and express it through art with pride. He uses an unidentified promising young black poet to affirm these views, one day this poet told him I want to be a poet not a Negro poet . This statement to Hughes meant I want to be a white poet , or more alarmingly to Hughes I want to be white . Hughes understands the poet s desires to be a desire to turn away from his African American heritage and instead absorb the white culture. It is located in London, England in the Wallace Collection. During the time this work was created, France was an aristocracy and The Swing portrays a glimpse of the luxurious life of the ruling class. King Louis XV ruled during a time when France was the most prosperous and powerful country in all of Europe. Through the influence of Madame de Pompadour, the arts prospered during this time. In the 18th century during King Louis reign the arts seemed to consume the thoughts of not only the artists themselves but also the King and other wealthy and influential members of society. This in turn resulted in neglect of the undertakings of the state, which had its consequences. In 1789, the bloody French Revolution took place and soon after, the fall of the monarchy. The Swing is undoubtedly the most famous of all Fragonard s compositions. It epitomizes the Rococo style of the 18th century with tranquil colors and gentle light, exaggerated diagonals, decorations, and nature. . The libertine Baron de St. Julien commissioned this piece. • 46. Extreme Poverty In The United States Extreme poverty is characterized as the lack of ability to access essential items to live such as food, clothing, medicine, and shelter. In the United States, and many other wealthy and developed nations, many people experience what is known as relative poverty which is essentially a measure of income inequality and is usually dependent on social views and opportunity rather than complete scarcity. Povertyin the United States, while not as severe, is still a major issue. I will discuss the effects that poverty has on families today in America and how it relates to single mothers, food insecurity, and education. Stephanie Mencimer states in her article, What if Everything You Knew About Race Was Wrong? , that poverty has had a deep and negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While A Place at the Table reveals the intrinsic link between poverty and hunger in the United States and how food insecurity affects children s health and education, Sarah Garland, in her article, When Class Became More Important to a Child s Education Than Race, explains many other aspects of how social class effects education. Garland describes an education gap amongst lower and higher income families that is due to several causes related to social classes. The low test scores and concentration issues discussed by Jacobson and Silverbush could possibly be related to such a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Radicalism of the American Revolution In The Radicalism of the American Revolution Gordon Wood attempts to disprove the common thought that the American Revolution was simply a war for independence from a tyrannical mother country. He explains how America formed such a unique from of government. The form that American government took was a collaboration of many different forms that emphasized the rights of individuals. Woods finds it essential to explain colonial life and the factors that dictated people s lives to understand how radical the revolution was compared to other revolutions. In the 1700 s it was impossible for people to imagine a society operating independently of government, but through shifts in society and through parallel shifts in government that is what emerge. Up until the American Revolutionsociety and government were interwoven. Once Woods explains society and the shifts that were taking place in society and government, he goes on to explain the nature of republicanism. The ideals of republicanism took a firm hold in the colonies. He claims that republican disinterest was essential to the formation of America. This term is oftenly thought of as public virtue or the willingness to sacrifice private interests for the sake of the community including serving in office without pecuniary reward . When the nation formed citizens, particularly the elites, were pushed to overlook private interests and developed a disinterested state of mind in order to further the state of the republic. ... • 48. Change Management At The Workplace CHANGE MANAGEMENT IN THE WORKPLACE THOMAS M. GILL WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY Change management in the working setting is constant for all Managers and leaders alike. To stay applicable and competitive businesses, managers, and supervisors should as often as possible reclassify their technique for working, item/benefit offerings and the impact this may have on your team, or shareholders. (Holmes, 2013) for instance when we lead change (vast or minute) see to it that these four fundamentals are on your agenda of things to do; make a feeling of earnestness, make a reasonable tomorrow, get people consideration and get people involved at the right level, have clear actions or expectations and desires. Nevertheless, managing change in the workplace shapes a feeling of uneasiness for a great many people, any change is uncomfortable. Therefore, while we oversee changes in the work environment, it is our obligation to help people in understanding that whatever they have done truly should now change. Therefore, Managers and leaders must work to jump start interest of purpose to get individuals excited to work out of their usual range of familiarity and grasp the change. (Holmes, 2013) Let shareholders know why the old way is no more viable, by disclosure persuading and genuine proof that individuals can feel, see, and touch that change must happen. Whether we understand it or not, change is important in an association for it to keep being relevant as a business, or for it to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Studies in Emotional Intelligence There is a growing interest in the concept of emotional intelligence, and with that growth is a gap between what we know and what we need to know. In the article, Emotional Intelligence: Issues and Common Misunderstandings, Robert J. Emmerling and Daniel Goleman inquire as to what emotional intelligence is, how it differs from other established constructs within psychology, whether or not it can be developed, whether or not it can be a better predictor of work performance than traditional measures of intelligence, whether or not it should be measured at all, and how it relates to ethics. Emotional intelligence has a potential utility in predicting a range of criterion across different populations, but its predictive validity depends on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first major theory in the emotional intelligence paradigm was that of Bar On and it was developed in 1988. In his theory he coined the term emotional quotient (EQ). His model is defined by a selection of abilities and traits related to social and emotional knowledge that influence our ability to cope with environmental demands. It can be viewed as a model of psychological adaptation and well being. The Bar On model includes the abilities to be aware of, understand, and express oneself, to be aware of, understand and relate to others, to deal with strong emotions and control one s impulses, and to adapt to change and solve problems of a social or personal nature. It deals with general mood, stress management, adaptability, interpersonal skills, and intrapersonal skills. EQ provides a reliable and valid estimate of an individuals ability to cope with everyday demands and pressures. In 1997, Mayer and Salovey developed a theory of emotional intelligence and instruments to measure it because traditional measures of intelligence failed to measure differences in the ability to perceive, process, and manage emotions. Their theory is defined by the ability to regulate emotions to promote emotional and intellectual growth, understand emotions and emotional knowledge, access and generate ... • 50. The Bible And Forgiveness What injuries to yourself from others would you find especially hard to get over or forgive? Explain. The Bible says, Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you (Ephesians 4:32). I personally try to live by the Bible every day. Times do get hard and certain circumstances hurt more than others, but we are all called to forgive one another at the end of the day. Forgivenessand getting over a situation are, in my opinion, two separate acts. Forgiveness should be given to all, but completely ignoring and disregarding the situation is not appropriate. I have a hard time in trusting others; every person is broken and flawed, and although it is not always meant to be intentionally hurtful, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was the longest relationship I had ever been in, and he was my first love. I don t give out trust to many people, and he was the first person who I felt as if I could trust my life with. He was able to gain all my trust and he held me in the palm of his hand. I thought we would last for a long time and that we would never give up on one another. Whenever I moved, we were both determined to keep our relationship alive and well until he could come down to Georgia to live. He was soon to be enlisted. I had always thought highly of him, even when he was at his lowest. I never thought bad about him or felt as if there was any reason for me not to trust him. Right before he went off to boot camp I found out he had been cheating on me the last six months of our relationship with many different girls who claimed to be some of my best friends. I was hurt more than ever, and it was because I trusted that he would be faithful and that the girls would have enough sense to not be involved in unfaithful acts with my boyfriend at the time. My trust for both him and my friends were lost that day, and my heart ached of a pain that it had never felt before. I couldn t breathe, and I did not know how I was going to go on with my life. No person knew what to say to make me feel better. I blamed myself. I blamed myself for trusting someone who did not deserve my trust. • 51. Revolutionary War Influence The American Revolutionary War was the most influential war in American History. The Background of the war is the British were taxing the colonists heavily and creating outrageous laws. Such as the Intolerable Acts, where the British took away access to the Boston Port. They also took away some of their rights to self government. They made trail for British officials available in Britain and made it legal to search homes and buildings. The colonists were fed up with the British and started rebelling. They had rebellions such as the Boston Tea Party, where they dumped tons of Britain s tea into the Boston Harbor. The start of the battle took place in Lexington Massachusetts. • 53. Query Sequence And Analysis Of Verify3d According to the model evaluation program Verify3D, 80.00% of the amino acid residues in this homology model had an average 3D 1D score greater than 0.2, which qualifies it as a passing model (LГјthy et al., 1992). However, between residues 44 66 on the Verify3D plot, the score dips below the 0.2 threshold, falling as low as 0.04. This can be explained by the fact that when aligned against each other, the query sequenceand template sequence consist of different types of amino acid residues in this range (Table 1). The query sequence consists of the residues YTAEADGNTIFTKTIPSGITISA, while the template sequence 4IPU_A consists of the residues KDWGKGLSIGVLASGSIAAPLRK. After analyzing these two aligned sequences, some stark differences... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, based on ProSA s local plot, the model displays low energy scores (negative delta g) throughout most of the plot in the template sequence, indicating a highly favorable model. Additionally, as shown in figure 1, for this template model, ProQ3 shows a ProQ3D score of .659 (Uziela et al., 2017). Similarly, as shown in figure 2, for the experimentally determined structure of this template (PDB ID: 4IPU), ProQ3 shows a ProQ3D score of .537. Since the template model scored slightly higher than the known structure and is closer to 1, the model generated can be deemed as acceptable. Overall, given the positive results of most of these these evaluation programs, it can be concluded that the template model 4IPU_A is likely reliable and gives a highly accurate alignment. According to the model evaluation program Verify3D, 79.63% of the amino acidresidues in this homology model had an average 3D 1D score greater than 0.2, which qualifies it as a warning model (LГјthy et al., 1992). This indicates that it may be a reliable model, but other evaluation programs must be used in order to verify this. Between residues 19 32 and 65 71 on the Verify3D plot, the score dips below the 0.2 threshold, falling as low as 0.04.
