Work Experience
26/05/2014 - Present: DHL - Bristol
As a Systems and Planning first line Manager for DHL working on The Range CDS contract
my main role involves the daily running of the Goods Out administration operation using the
Red Prairie Warehouse management system, as a Systems Manager my role also covers the
maintenance of the Management System and direct communication to the JDA Red Prairie
support team to fix any issues that may arise. Within my role I oversea a team of 7 staff over
seven days a week who have all been trained by me to a competent standard for operating the
system we have in place. The planning side of my role involves the daily transport planning
for the Bristol site, servicing 90 plus stores at three deliveries per week with an increase of 10
new stores per year to maintain a 95% order age and delivery to customer/stores within a 3
day period, I also oversee the training aspect for any new/existing staff that use the
management system in place at Bristol with competence sign offs aswell as the maintenance
of the hand held terminals and PC’s we have on site. During my time on site at Bristol I have
completed both Behaviour based safety conversations and DHL accident investigation reports
to operate a safe site mentality.
23/11/2012 – 23/05/2014: The Range (CDS) - Stoke on Trent
Promoted within the business to Warehouse Operations deputy warehouse Manager of one of
the fastest growing companies in Europe overseeing the day to day operation of a 365,000sqft
warehouse employing 74 permanent staff and up to 50 temporary agency workers at any one
time, working closely with my supervisors and team leaders to achieve the receiving, picking,
consolidation and despatching over 80,000 cases per week, closely monitoring KPI’s and
performance objectives as well as the chairing of daily, weekly and monthly meetings with
my management team to deal with any issues. I am in regular contact with external temporary
worker agencies to ensure the best hourly rates are achieved and a brilliant working
relationship. I do a full monthly Health and Safety checklist of the distribution centre whilst
also sitting in on Health and Safety forums.
10/02/2011 – 23/11/2012: The Range ( CDS ) - Stoke on Trent
Starting as a Warehouse Operative: picking orders, loading trucks and stock control I
progressed to a Systems Administrator using the ‘Red Prairie’ warehouse management
system creating runs for the drivers, releasing work for the warehouse operatives, staging
vehicles ready for loading as well as normal office duties such as E-Mailing Stores and
customers, using Excel spread sheets, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office. controlling the
daily running of the ‘Red Prairie’ warehouse management system in an office environment as
well as overlooking five office staff and their duties. My position involves managing the
‘behind the scenes’ of the ‘Red Prairie’ system which includes the warehouse operational
reports, the managing of five members of staff, controlling the running of the warehouse
system and the stock integrity within the distribution centre, this role is challenging due to the
nature of the business being fast paced and extremely profitable with many areas for issues to
arise therefore foreseeing a problem before it becomes a problem is key, providing reports for
my Distribution Manager and also discussing business improvements in daily meetings with
members of staff from all areas and levels.
March 2007- November 2010: Co-operative Distribution centre - Stoke on Trent
Starting as an order picker working to strict deadlines picking stock ready for delivery to
stores throughout the U.K. Within this position I have learnt how to load and unload vehicles
correctly and safely, cross docks and security picking for high priced goods. I was promoted
to the position of a despatch team leader/supervisor where my duties included:
• Designating work to loaders and delivery drivers through Manhattan warehouse
management system.
• Planning routes for drivers using the web and e-mails.
• Hitting targets set by the warehouse manager and working closely with transport to
ensure the smooth running of the shift and overcoming any problems that arise.
• Working under pressure to drive the business forward and training staff to the
appropriate levels to ensure every position is always covered
Whilst working for the Co-operative I also became a stand - in warehouse supervisor
covering absence, holidays and sickness overseeing the daily running of the business, staff
management and training/development,
.
