SPATIAL AUDIO HISTORY
• Stereo Recordings -- able to pan a phantom source
between two speakers
• 5.1 audio -- horizontally pan a source
• 7.1 audio -- provides more elevation
• Virtual Reality (VR) era – ambisonics, provides
true audio immersion . Simulate real world acoustics in VR.
SPATIAL AUDIO ROLE IN VR
Examples :
• If someone calls us, we immediately know where to look
• If a train passes by we can feel from which direction it passes

• How Spatial Audio Works in VR
In VR user is put into the middle of the action and he might not even know where to look.
Spatial Audio provides a powerful tool to control user attention by providing spatial audio queues from the
direction of interest that a user can be guided through Virtual Reality
• What will Happen if Spatial Audio is not provided in VR
The illusion of being in a different world immediately breaks as soon as there is a mismatch between our senses.
Particularly the lack of spatial audio immediately breaks in the VR immersion

• Many researches are being carried out
• VR and AR have most of its applications
• This can be further implemented in medical devices
• Spatial Audio can also be used as a tool for Medical
Students
• Most of Future Games will have this
• This will further provide more and more immersion in
sound technology with the user
CONCLUSION
• Spatial Audio is a very emerging technology in the
current era.
• Applying spatial audio in many day to day life devices
will change the scenario of viewing the world.
• The addition of Spatial Audio in AR and VR in most
devices will have a great positive impact in human life.

  • 8. THEORY • How Spatial Audio Works in VR In VR user is put into the middle of the action and he might not even know where to look. Spatial Audio provides a powerful tool to control user attention by providing spatial audio queues from the direction of interest that a user can be guided through Virtual Reality • What will Happen if Spatial Audio is not provided in VR The illusion of being in a different world immediately breaks as soon as there is a mismatch between our senses. Particularly the lack of spatial audio immediately breaks in the VR immersion
