30thbrigade Research Paper
The 30thbrigade was originally the 6th brigade located in Fort Bliss, which moved to Fort Sill in 2010.
It was switched over in May 18, 2012. The reason for the change was because Col. Bill Stacy was
wanting to get a new set of colors. Since there was an upcoming parade, he wanted the colors to be
standing out. The Center of Military History, informed him that there was no set of colors or that they
didn t have any colors for them. Due to the fact that they didn t have any direct link to any wartime
unit. As Col. Bill Stacy being the commander to the unit he was in his belief. After The Center of
Military History showed him some letter of when the 6th ADA brigade came to be he found out that
the unit was created in 1988 and were never assigned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Col. Bill Stacy met with some of the original troops from the old 30th Brigade. The troops that fought
to defend the Ryukyu Islands of Japan. These troops were the ones that manned the Nike Hercules
missiles. He saw the important role that these troops played in defending these islands. So he decides
to come up with a motto and came up with the motto Always on Target . The troops always had to be
aware and focus. The missile was armed with a nuclear war head. It was mostly used in short range
combat. This is why they always need to be on target whenever they launched one of these

Answers to Practice Questions
1. Downward sloping. This is because high coupon bonds provide a greater proportion of their cash
flows in the early years. In essence, a high coupon bond is a shorter bond than a low coupon bond of
the same maturity.
2. The key here is to find a combination of these two bonds (i.e., a portfolio of bonds) that has a cash
flow only at t = 6. Then, knowing the price of the portfolio and the cash flow at t = 6, we can calculate
the 6 year spot rate.
We begin by specifying the cash flows of each bond and using these and their yields to calculate their
current prices:
Investment Yield C1 . . . C5 C6 Price
6% bond 12% 60 . . . 60 1,060 $753.32
10% bond 8% 100 . . . 100 1,100 $1,092.46 From the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5%, five year note: 3. 10%, five year note: d. First, we calculate the yield for each of the two bonds.
For the 5% bond, this means solving for r in the following equation: r = 0.05964 = 5.964% For the
10% bond: r = 0.05937 = 5.937% The yield depends upon both the coupon payment and the spot rate
at the time of the coupon payment. The 10% bond has a slightly greater proportion of its total
payments coming earlier, when interest rates are low, than does the 5% bond. Thus, the yield of the
10% bond is slightly lower.
e. The yield to maturity on a five year zero coupon bond is the five year spot rate, here 6.00%.
f. First, we find the price of the five year annuity, assuming that the annual payment is $1:
Now we find the yield to maturity for this annuity:
r = 0.05745 = 5.745%
g. The yield on the five year Treasury note lies between the yield on a five year zero coupon bond and
the yield on a 5 year annuity because the cash flows of the Treasury bond lie between the cash flows
of these other two financial instruments. That is, the annuity has fixed, equal payments, the zero
coupon bond has one payment at the end, and the bond s payments are a combination of these.
7. A 6 year spot rate of 4.8 percent implies a negative forward rate: (1.0486/1.065) 1 = 0.010 = 1.0%
To make money, you could borrow $1,000 for 6 years at 4.8 percent and lend $990 for 5 years at 6
percent. The

Subchapter Case Study
Homework Assignment 1
1. Define and discuss Subchapter J of the Internal Revenue Code
Subchapter J of the Internal Revenue Code provides guidance for the treatment of Estates, Trusts and
its beneficiaries as well as the income in respect to its decedents. It allows the researcher to determine
if and when the income from a property is considered taxable to the estate, trust or its beneficiaries. It
also imposes certain procedures for the Fiduciary ( 26 U.S. Code Chapter 1, Subchapter J Estates,
Trusts, Beneficiaries, and Decedents )
Estates and Trust bare some similarities and federal tax law takes hold of these similarities to tax them
under Subchapter J .
Subchapter J may not always provide the guidance for the taxation of income generated as an estate or
trust if its administration is alive longer than what is deemed necessary for administration or existence
for federal income tax purposes.

What is the duration of a Subchapter J estate of the Internal Revenue Code
According to regulations, the duration of the estate is however long it is necessary to collect assets and
pay liabilities, expenses, administration and beneficiaries to finalize the settlement of the estate. Local
law does not govern the duration of the estate for federal income tax purposes. If deemed unnecessary
to be active once required activity is performed any additional income may be taxed to the individuals
at their applicable rates and not the estate.
3. What is the property comprising the Subchapter J Estate of the Internal Revenue Code

John Watson and Classical Conditioning
In psychology, respondent behavior is behavior learned through classical conditioning. This type of
learning is defined as a way in which one learns to link two or more stimuli while also anticipating
events; or other wise, known as a kind of learning that occurs when a conditioned stimulus is paired
with an unconditioned stimulus. While classical conditioning was accidently discovered by Ivan
Pavlov, John B. Watson was interested in taking Pavlov s experiences a bit further. Watson s ultimate
goal was to research how classical conditioning could be seen through humans and not just through
animals. An in depth look on John Watson s actual experiment can be better explained and found in
the article titled, The Little Albert Experiment on
http://psychology.about.com/od/classicpsychologystudies/a/little albert experiment.htm.
John Watson s Contribution
Classical conditioning is identified as the type of learning where the nature of the research conditions
a fear response to the subject being experimented on. An implication of the research for human
behavior involving conditioned fear response would describe how a child might be afraid of storms
because of the partnership between the storm and the sound of the loud thunder. This being said, John
B. Watson wanted to further explain this reasoning of classical conditioning through his own
experiment that many people call The Little

Self-Expression in Theodore Roethke s Elegy for Jane Essay
Self Expression in Theodore Roethke s Elegy for Jane
Theodore Roethke demonstrates an abiding honesty toward the facts of his experience. Roethke, who
was one of America s teaching poets before his death, was self absorbed, and his poetry derives much
of its imaginative strength from his quest for that communion joining self and creation (Mills 527 28).
In Elegy for Jane, one of his most successful poems, he blends his grief for his student Jane Bannick
with his childhood memories, his students experiences, and his role as teacher.
Childhood memories of his father s greenhouse, field, and stand of virgin timber in Michigan s
Saginaw Valley characterize Roethke s poetry. The poet s memories provide a fund to draw from for
the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the poet s grief may be the result of a mix of reality and imagination.
The teacher poet could be imagining how he would feel at the death of another of his students. At the
University of Washington, as at his other teaching posts, he enjoyed popularity with his students and
frequently formed close relationships with them; however, this was not true in the case of Jane
Bannick. Seager reveals that the poet had not known Jane very well. She was his student for only one
quarter. In addition to the grief that he felt at Jane s tragic death, his emotions may have been stirred
by the experiences of Lois Lamb, another of his students. Lamb, who fell from a horse the previous
summer, described the fall and her fears to her teacher in detail (193). Seager also mentions that
Roethke and Lamb conducted a series of `experiments with a flock of turkeys at the Pinel Sanitarium
during Roethke s 1949 50 hospitalization for manic depressive illness (187). These visits indicate that
Roethke was closer to Lamb than to Bannick. It would seem that his relationship with Lamb would be
more likely to create an awareness in the poet of the intense grief that would result at the tragic
severing of an exceptionally close teacher student bond.
Roethke finally expresses his loss and perhaps an imagined loss in terms of a unique human
relationship: neither father nor lover. As a

Lac Vien
Lac Vien is a casual restaurant which serves basic things in Vietnamese cuisine with all sorts of the
classic Pho, but there are a great variety of Asian foods in the menu for dine in or takeout. They
opened in 2010, and now are running three locations in North York, Mississauga, and Scarborough,
but I will deal with in this paper only North York branch near Yorkdale Mall. I have been going there
for one year, foods are consistently good and the staff members are friendly and accommodating.

spaces reserved for disabled customers. The doors are wide enough for wheelchair access as well. It is

As for their service, servers need to continuously perform in a sophisticated way. You may get the Pho
even before the appetizer arrives. Once it gets busy, food runners tend to rush, delivering as soon as
one plate comes out of the kitchen. Also, they should try to serve everyone at a table all at once,
especially main dish instead of one person getting one s food in advance while the rest of the people at
the same table are waiting. Lastly, although they have an extensive menu selection, this place, in fact,
is not specializing in vegetarian dishes in that Pho is made with either beef stock or chicken stock.
Such use of raw vegetables is one of the great things about this restaurant that makes it so fresh, but, it
does not necessarily mean it is a good place for vegetarians. Due to the fact that lots of their recipes
leans toward using fish sauce, non meat eaters may find there is a lack of choice over the hundred
menus.
By the time I was about to leave, the server had brought complimentary coffee for me, and this one
was in the top three coffees in my life. I am not a big enough coffee connoisseur to say whether the
coffee here is the best or not, but I did enjoy it. If you have a sweet tooth like me, make sure to get the
famous Vietnamese Filtered Hot/Ice Coffee with Condensed Milk, simply,

In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. This quote proves that Anne
Frank cared about everyone even if they did not treat her with respect. Anne Frank was a strong,
young girl who was alive during the Holocaust. She and her family had to go into hiding because of
what they believed in. During the Holocaust it was a very rough time for Jewish people. For example,
they had to wear the star of David and if they were found they were taken to a concentration camp,
where they were treated rudely and with no respect. After Anne and her family were found they were
sent to a concentration camp, but while they were there Anne was still happy and positive there. She
also had to stay strong even though they were given very little food and water. Finally, Anne was a

The Symbolism In Sorrow Of War
Throughout the novel Sorrow of War , The author Bao Ninh uses the symbolism of alcohol to serve as
hope to further demonstrate the sorrow in vietnamese soldiers, and the loss of identity in soldiers.
In the novel alcohol is used as a symbol to further emphasize the sorrow of post war soldiers. In the
text Cu states I ve tried to discipline myself, to fulfill my duties, no disobedience, no gambling, no
alcohol, no dope, no women, no swearing. And for what? All for nothing! I m not jealous, just
depressed (20). It s clear that the alcohol serves as a way to think positive in the harsh war an escape
route for the mind of the soldiers per say. Cu describes himself as depressed so essentially alcohol
serves as a symbol of hope for the soldiers a way out, hope that they will make it through war and
back home. In addition the author further emphasizes the need for alcohol for soldiers. Cu describes
not having alcohol as feeling Jealous and depressed without alcohol. The author gives alcohol this
positive connotation in order to emphasize to the contrast of the sorrow in the soldiers and reality. ...

Historic Value Of The Oregon Historical District
The Oregon Historical District is a twelve city block area in Dayton, Ohio that is registered with the
National Register of Historic Places. This reasonably small area has both commercial and residential
land uses. Though mixed use space, commercial and residential, is seen as a modern phenomenon, this
area of land is quite old for an American city with the original plat recording in 1829. However, the
homes in the area developed over a period of 100 years which allowed for them to development with
different architectural features with the most common being Classic Revival. This different
architectural development could also be seen throughout the business district. Intriguing ideas held
within the historic value of the Oregon Historical District are the ideas of preservation and protection.
Instead of requiring its residents to rehabilitate the homes to original status the requirements are that
the home look authentic and have the appeal of authenticity. The aesthetic nature of the homes should
be less museum like and more home like with the intention of preserving the architectural character of
the past. In 1975, the Oregon Historical District ratified a Constitution with the most recent
amendment in 2014. This Constitution requires that residents that live within the twelve block radius
of the district be part of the Oregon District Historic Society. These residents are known as members
and pay a yearly membership fee. There is a board of trustees that consists of nine

countless problems facing towards koalas and frogs and they are obviously not all the same. The
troubles that the koalas and frogs face can easily be compared and contrasted. Scientists have been

similarities and distinctions between the problems for frogs and koalas. As a matter of fact, there are
not too many similarities between the problems for these animals. Nonetheless, there is one major
thing that has caused both of these animals to be endangered species, and that one thing is the work of
humans. Without a doubt, humans specifically play a crucial role in killing off frogs and koalas around

Similarities And Similarities Between Francis Bacon And...
The personal lives of great artists are often the most tragic; neglectful parents, drug addictions, failed
relationships, and mental instability seem to the most common tropes. The British painter Francis
Bacon and Anna Kavan, born as Helen Woods, are no exception. The similarities between their
personal lives and artistic creations are striking. Both had the misfortune of neglectful parents, both
moved from country to country throughout their lives, both were addicted to either heroin or alcohol,
but both created gruesome and masterful works of art. Anna Kavan s mother was detached and
negligent. Both of Kavan s two marriages failed. She became addicted to heroin in her twenties as a
way to self medicate for her depression. She spent time in insane asylums towards the end of her life.
Francis Bacon s parents were far from caring; his father exiled him after Bacon expressed his
homosexuality. After being entrusted to the care of a family friend, he fell in love with the older man
that whisked him around the European continent. He began painting after seeing an exhibit of Pablo
Picasso s work and took many years to find success with this trade. Often he resorted to alcohol and
held private, and very illegal, gambling clubs to make a sort of income. He entered an extremely
mentally and physically abusive relationship. These adversities from personal lives influenced the
work of both individuals to a tremendous degree. Characters in Kavan s stories are frequently a kind
of autobiography Anna Kavan was one of her character s names that Helen Woods eventually adopted
after a mental breakdown. Francis Bacon s work pictured many of his acquaintance and lovers, scenes
of homosexuality, and scenes of pain. Understanding the individual s personal circumstances adds a
new layer of meaning and interpretation to their creations. A most encompassing comparison of the
two individuals is that they both produced works of cosmic horror; however, it is not entirely the
typical Lovecraftian horror associated with the genre. Bacon s paintings as visual experiences are
quite unlike other works considered to be cosmic horror; however, their unconventionality does not
exclude them. Rather than focusing on the fear of the

Causes Of The Pequot War
The Pequot War started in 1636 and ended in 1637. The war consisted of the Pequot people and a
coalition of English settlers from the Massachusetts Bay. It was a brutal war and was the first
sustained conflict between Native Americans and Europeans in northeastern North America.
The primary cause of the Pequot War was the struggle to control trade. The Dutch brought on
economic, political, and cultural changes when they arrived on Long Island and in the Connecticut
River valley at the beginning of the 17th century and of English traders and settlers in the early 1630s.
The world they entered into was dominated by the Pequot. The root of the Pequot War was the
struggle for control of the fur and wampum trade in the Connecticut River valley. Before the arrival of
the English in the early 1630s, the Dutch and Pequot controlled all the region s trade. The situation
was precarious because of the resentment held by the subservient Native American tribes for their
Pequot overlords. So, when the English wanted to join in on the scene, those other tribes sought
alliance with them, shifting the balance of regional power. This brought conflict as the competition for
control of trade escalated quickly. As tensions grew between all parties, the murder of trader John
Oldham by the Manisses Indians of Block Island in July, 1636 resulted in a military response by the
English of Massachusetts Bay that led directly to the Pequot War. This was the beginning of the
Pequot War.

Arm Wrestling With My Father Rhetorical Analysis
The relationship between a father and their child is tremendously salient, and will influence the life of
both the parent and the adolescent in many ways. Often, it can be difficult for someone to share their
personal relationships that they had with their father, as it can be a very delicate subject. Despite this,
renowned authors Brad Manning and Sandra Cisneros are two people who chose to write about their
unique experiences and childhoods that they shared with their fathers. Both Brad and Sandra felt their
childhood relationships with their fathers were unorthodox. This was explicitly outlined in Brad s
freshman composition paper titled Arm Wrestling With My Father and Sandra s magazine article titled
Only Daughter. Through varying rhetorical strategies, the authors purpose and audience is clearly
portrayed in both selections. One of the most important components to any piece of writing is the
intended audience. In Arm Wrestling With My Father, Manning s intended audience is anyone who
may have had an abnormal or physical relationship with their father. He wanted his paper to be read
by individuals that grew up with a lack of emotional love and an abundance of physical contact with
their fathers. Although there was love between Manning and his father, it was clear that neither party
wanted to acknowledge it. He wrote this in his freshman composition course at Harvard, knowing that
although it was going to his professors, it was meant for anyone who may have experienced

Medical Records And Electronic Records
This case study has presented multiple issues concerning converting paper medical record to
electronic medical records. The first concerns are the inefficiencies of the paper medical records and
the steps needed to convert the current records to digital records. A second concern was that the
medical staff would have to change their work habits to adjust to using the electronic medical records
and the training that would be needed to implement the electronic record software. Another concern
would be the various formats of software programs and the ability to complement each other. The final
concern was the security of the electronic records, misuse of the information or problems accessing
the information due to unforeseen circumstances. As the case stated paper records are cumbersome,
bulky and difficult to access. As you read through the case it does make one think about how your
own medical records are maintained within the doctor s office. As with my own medical records there
was a time that the doctor was looking back through the actual sheets of paper in my file looking for
information how he treated a certain medical issue that I had experience years prior, because the same

Forshadowing In Jack London s To Build A Fire
Some stories can have an emotional impact on readers, but every so often a story will reach out and
help the reader escape into it. Jack London s To Build a Fire is a fascinating story with a remarkably
well described setting, and geographical descriptions of the surrounding Yukon areas. It portrays an
overconfident man, whom because of his lack of intuition and stubbornness, succumbs to natures
unforgiving climate.
Claim 1: In 1897 London and his brother in law, Captain James Shepard joined the Klondike Gold
Rush. He used this experience to describe the settings of some of his first successful writings. His time
spent in the Klondike was very harmful to his health. Like many other men working in the harsh
conditions, London was malnourished in the goldfields, and he developed scurvy. He lost four of his
front teeth and he was plagued by constant pain in his hips and legs. His face was scared by the rigid
work he endured, and these hard ships inspired London to write his short story, To Build a Fire .
London s exceptional use of foreshadowing in the title and within the first couple of lines of his story
tells the reader that the character of the story will come into hardship, his use of foreshadowing is
expressed within the first sentence of his story, There was no sun or promise of sun, although there
was not a cloud in the sky. It was a clear day. However, there seemed to be an indescribable darkness
over the face of things. (London) of not traveling alone.

Ephedrine and It s Effect on Weight Loss Essay
Ephedrine and It s Effect on Weight Loss
The Dilemma
It is dilemma that affects the world over, its scope nothing short of the earth s 25,000 mile
circumference. However, in certain cultures it is a more significant issue than in others. Nevertheless,
it can affect every aspect of our lives, driving many even to suicide. Few, if any, are naturally
invincible to its hidden wrath. This invisible, yet potent dilemma is obesity, or simply weight control.
In countries, such as the United States, weight control is a common, yet, dire issue. Especially, in a
society where thin is in, but for many, so are fatty foods and infrequent exercise, there is a huge and
growing demand for quick, easy schemes to lose weight. However, the true ... Show more content on

In Western terms, ma huang is considered to have diaphoretic, diuretic, central nervous system
stimulating and antiasthmatic activity. The stem (herb) of ephedra contains a number of active
compounds, including small amounts of an essential oil, and most important, one or two percent
alkaloids composed mainly of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine, with ephedrine ranging from thirty to
ninety percent depending on the source.
Alone, ephedrine is a very powerful amphetamine like compound. However, as Mark Blumenthal
editor of HerbalGram and executive director of the American Botanical Council, was quoted...as
saying that he has used the stems and twigs of the Chinese herb ma huang as a cold remedy for twenty

isolated constituents must be considered separately. One should not confuse ephedrine and

Girls And 10 Things I Hate About You
Life as a teenager is arguably the most confusing, difficult, and stressful time in a person s life. There
is a great amount of expectations and insecurities placed on teens that hinder them from being active
participants in the world. They must undergo all of the changes of young adult life to develop into
successful members of society. In the 1990 s and the 2000 s, two separate films were released that
depict the cultural norms, social expectations, and developments of teenagers at that period of time.
Those two films, Mean Girls and 10 Things I Hate About You, successfully illuminate the motives and
characterizations of young adult life and the troubles and tribulations that come along with it. 10
Things I Hate About You is a film about teenagers growing up in Seattle in the 1990 s. The music,
clothing, and slang presented in the movie all emulate the time period in which it was released. The
movie itself is based off of the play by William Shakespeare, The Taming of the Shrew. Senior, Kat
Stratford, portrays an angsty teenager, degrading any and all typical high school experiences. Her
sister Bianca, on the other hand, is well liked and well desired by two boys in school. She emulates the
typical teen girl, obsessed with fashion, boys, and popularity. As per their father s rules, Bianca cannot
date until uninterested Kat does. Patrick Verona, the mysterious bad boy of school, is approached by
the popular Joey Donner as he offers to pay Verona to take out

Face Your Giant Bear Research Paper
The Giant Slayer One important lesson that my teachers and friends from Saline Christian Academy
taught me was that no matter the obstacle in life whether in school, work, or in the world, nothing is
impossible with Christ. Goals are achievable, challenges are accepted, and dreams come true with
faith and hard work. Our theme my senior year was Face your Giant , and I faced my giant with the
people in my important picture.
Our theme, Face your Giant , was inspired by the Biblical story of David and Goliath. David was a
young shepherd boy and Goliath was a Palestine soldier who stood over nine feet tall. Goliath had
defiled the God of Israel. While the other soldiers did nothing, David prepared to battle Goliath. With

I did a science theoretical project on genetic engineering, and made a clay sculpture of the wall of

bell choir, and bell trio. Then for the athletic platform I had volleyball. I went to convention my senior
year with the mindset to place in every event I performed. I was determined to give it my all, and I
did. The girls in this picture are part of my volleyball team. We had won the national title the previous
year in New Mexico, so we were ready to go out there and get another national title. Every year we
pick a new theme for that team. Our theme last year was Face your Giant . It seemed like in
everything we did there was always that giant in our way that we had to stand up and face. Our school
was small, so unlike larger schools our school did not have all the players on the bench, our winning
was entirely up to this small group. Many teams we had to face were bigger and more athletic. We
were a young team. Other than myself, and one junior, the team consisted of four fourteen year old

Powerful Imagery and Themes in The Killer Angels Essay
In The Killer Angels, Michael Shaara fictionally illustrates the historical facts of the battle at
Gettysburg. Shaara gives action and words to characters of another time, and then places these players
on the stage of this great battle. Through the use of powerful biblical and non biblical imagery and
themes the epic nature of the battle at Gettysburg and its characters are enhanced. Such imagery and
themes, combined with Shaara s fictionalization, help to contribute to why this single battle holds such
monumental significance and influence upon the lives of Americans over a century removed from its
occurrence.
In the Foreword, before the battle begins, Shaara starts with a list of the principle players in the

This helps to give the entire event a timeless characteristic. The Confederates tend to fill the aspects of
biblical imagery and themes in more numerous ways than that of the Union side. This is due, in part,
to the fact that the Confederate Army had a more unified religious belief system as well as a solid ,
devotional like faith in Lee as their leader. (Shaara ix)
Lee is the pinnacle of the Confederate hierarchy. He is like an angel of the Lord (Shaara 67) in the
presence of his men. On the first day of battle he is prompted from within himself to ride out to merely
be seen by his soldiers in the midst of battle in order to boost morale. (Shaara 112) Not only is Lee
aware of the importance he holds in the eyes of his men and the strength that he gives them, but also
in his weakness and weariness. He does not attribute to himself qualities that superseded God. Shaara
emphatically states that Lee believed absolutely in God . (Shaara x) Lee s divinity is attributed to him
by his men. For instance, Longstreet conveyed to Arthur Fremantle a conversation concerning Darwin
s theory of evolution. He stated that even though those discussing the issue agreed that Darwin s
theory was probably true, one person spoke out that Lee didn t come from no ape . (Shaara 138) This
implies that in the eyes of his men, Lee was viewed as being apart from mere mortals. Although Lee

Essay about Improving Change Management
Throughout every organization is an opportunity to introduce new change. Change can have a positive
or negative impact on the surrounding environment, both internally and externally. Implementing a
change requires adjustments to the status quo, sometimes leading to employees that are directly
affected by the change to feel threatened. Change can also produce positive reactions, such as boosting
morale, increasing profits, or decreasing costs. A new change in an environment must be carefully

rule to having a positive impact on the esprit de corps of the firm. This rule in particular allows firms
that are struggling with introducing change to overcome this resistance. Another valid rule of Riskin s

not everyone in the firm has to be 100% on board with the impending change, but everyone has to be

emphasizing the fact that everyone must be on board for what is best for the firm, it allows the
reduction or elimination of possible sabotage efforts from people who are resistant to change. Riskin
concludes, fostering change in a law firm seems impossible because most Managing Partners treat the
activities associated with such change as if they were component piece of a legal transaction. All of
these resistances can be overcome by following the rules outlined by Riskin. When focusing on the

The Bible And The Holy Bible
Any Christian who reads the Holy Bible and studies to Bible knows many of Jesus s as parables. The
new testament is filled with numerous amount of parables which seem to be stories that Jesus told in
order to get his message across. The word parable comes from παροιμιαν which means a figure of
speech., and this is the way that Jesus spoke. I have spoken to you in figures of speech; the hour is
coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but tell you plainly of the Father.
(John 16:25) When Jesus spoke to the people this is how he spoke to them However, while it seems
that these were simple stories it is apparent from the reading that Jess s parables were methodically
thought through with each being very precisely accurate in the structure of the stories. Moreover,
followers can seem to have a different meaning to these parables because depending on the situation
and relationship with Jesus that a particular person had it is possible for the interpretation may not
match the next persons. Yet, Jesus has used these analogy to illustrate his point, people of Jesus time
may have understood him better when the parables could be related to their every day lives. In the new
testament of the Bible there is an astounding 46 parables. Of the 46 parables in the bible some of those
are repeated within the other gospel but one which is unique to all the others is one parable the good

Social Communication and Rehabilitation of Adolescents with Traumatic Brain Injury
Introduction Adolescence, the time between puberty and adulthood, is marked by a shift toward

(Turkstra, 2004). One could surmise the many reasons for this increased risk taking or increased

portion of the frontal lobe, has been associated with both awareness and theory of mind, which are two
very important functions that are necessary for effective social communication (Blakemore, 2006).
Additionally, the surge of hormones during adolescence, the increased time spent with peers and the
continued development of emotion processing contribute to the rapid development and proliferation of
social communication at that age.
Assessment Just as with adults, the impact that a traumatic brain injury has on the communication
skills and their underlying cognitive processes of an adolescent depends greatly on the nature,
specifically location, and severity of the insult. Closed brain injuries in adolescents tend to damage the
prefrontal regions. As a result,

Greek Art Evolution
The evolution of Greek art has expanded over hundreds of years and has contributed to many artistic
developments, especially in sculpture. The depiction of the human figure has drastically changed over
time from an undeveloped form to a more detailed rendering. This transformation can be seen from
Early Bronze Age figurine models to Ancient Hellenistic sculptures. Examples of early figurines are
small with disproportionate and unusual bodies while much later sculptures are large scale showing
the importance of corrected bodily proportions. Tiny figures generally had the same poses lacking
facial and body definition details while later sculptures have exquisite, clear facial features, and
deeply chiseled bodies. The developments of sculptors overtime produced advancements in Greek
sculpture. This can be seen especially in certain sculpture subjects like Greek athletics, mythology,
political depictions, as well as scenes of tragedy or death. Athletic Greek sculpture was an important
way in which statues were intended to immortalize successful athletes. The development of these

Natural Monopoly Supplies All for a Lower Price
atural monopoly is a type of monopoly that was because of high fixed or set up cost of operating a
business in an industry. And governments often regulate those in operation, to make sure that every
consumer can get a fair deal. In fact, the size of production that can achieve productive efficiency may
be a high proportion of the total demand of the products in the industry. Natural monopolies are often
associated with industries sector where there is a high ratio of fixed to variable costs. For example, for
a product to establish a national distribution network the fixed cost can be enormous but the marginal
cost of each additional output supply can be very small. Natural monopoly occurs when one large
business can supply the entire market at a lower price than two or more smaller ones, which there
cannot be more than one efficient provider of a good. In this situation, competition might increase
costs and prices. It is an industry where the minimum efficient scale is a large share of total market
demand such there is room for only one firm to fully exploit all of the available internal economies of
scale, and the industry has long run average cost curve falls continuously as output rises. Market
failure is when resources cannot be efficiently allocated due to the fault of price mechanism caused by
factors such as establishment of monopolies. It s also used to describe when market can t satisfy
public interest, and will result of a loss of economic and social welfare.

Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Pachelbel, And Handel
There are three big periods of music. Theses periods are Baroque, Classical, and Romantic. In these
periods there where several different composers who helped shape that period. Here are but a few in
each of the period. In the Baroque period some composers are Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Pachelbel, and
Handel. There of course are many more as these are just four composers. First, Vivaldi his full name is
Antonio Lucio Vivaldi. Vivaldi was born in 1678 and grew to be an Italian violinist and a composer.
He was born with angina pectoris or chest pain due heart disease of his heart not gaining enough
oxygen, he was also born with asthma. Due to these conditions he was known for running out of
church, but he was also known to run out due to a composition idea he would have. Once Vivaldi
started to work he worked in a place called Ospedal Della Pieta where he would teach women to play
the violin. This place would later be known as an orphanage since noble men would drop off the
female children that they would have with their mistresses and leave them there. The fathers of these
girls helped pay the orphanage as hush money to keep the knowledge silent. Vivaldi was known to
work here for several years on and off before he died in 1741 at the age of sixty three years old. Now
another composer was Pachelbel. He was a German composer fully named Johann Christoph
Pachelbel. His exact birthday is unknown, but he was born in the year 1653. Pachelbel wrote mainly

Negative Effects of the Lincoln Assassination
Soon after President Abraham Lincoln died on Good Friday, April 15, 1865, the fatal bullet with
which he was murdered was removed. Dr. Curtis, one of the doctors who performed the procedure,
later wrote, There it [the bullet] lay upon the white china, a little black mass no bigger than the end of
my finger dull, motionless and harmless, yet the cause of such mighty changes in the world s history
as we may perhaps never realize (Swanson 135). The doctor was correct in his statement that Lincoln

Booth s family, a well known family of actors that was famous before the assassination, lost its
positive reputation forever. Also, people who knew Booth or were associated with him were
persecuted for his wrongdoing. An article from the American Civil War Roundtable of Australia, a
conference in Australia for people interested in the Civil War and its aftermath, says that four
supposed co conspirators Lewis Powell, David Herold, George Atzerodt, and Mary Surratt were
hanged for their part in the assassination plot. Mary Surratt s sentencing was considered very
controversial because some evidence against her was later determined to be erroneous, and her
sentence of death shocked the nation. Three men Sam Arnold, Michael O Laughlin, and Dr. Samuel
Mudd were given life prison sentences, and another man, Edmen Spangler, was imprisoned for six
years (Curry 24). These people were accused of assisting Booth in his assassination plot. While
Powell, Herold, Atzerodt, Arnold, and O Laughlin were actually found guilty in helping Booth in his
plot, and Dr. Mudd had aided Booth s escape, Spangler and Surratt s participation in the assassination
plot or its execution was uncertain; they were tried and punished partially because they were
associated with Booth. As a result of Lincoln s death, Booth s family and acquaintances were blamed,
hated, and persecuted.

Benefits Of Living In A Shared House In College
Living in a shared house while you are in college is for sure your life experience. Either you have
great, good or not that good experience, there is a high possibility that what you experience in a shared
house remain in your memories for the rest of your life. One of the reasons might be the fact that you
have to live with people that probably you had never seen before. Moreover, those people can be from
different parts of the country. But whatever the reason, anyone who study far from his or her
hometown has a strong impact on his or her life, where very positive o very negative.
When a person move to another city because of college, positively influenced by the change. First of
all because it is a great opportunity to expand someone s friendship, for example if the person move to

despite the fact that they are in the same country and even in the same region, there are slight cultural

Negative Long term Effects of Advertising
Advertisements are a way to promote sales of a product or service through visual communication.
Magazine covers, advertisements or any publication embed a set of ideologies. O Shaughnessy and
Standler describe ideologies as sets of social values, ideas, beliefs, feelings and representations by
which people collectively make sense of the world they live in (2012; 174). Ideologies try to
manipulate people into buying a way of life as well as goods (Dyer, 1982:5). Adverts such as the
Pravda vodka example above, which appeared in the January 2014 issue of GLAMOUR magazine add
relevance to a product whether it s a certain trend, desire or mutual value in order for the product to
become a highly favoured commodity. Glamour magazine is popular amoungst young women of all

  • 2. 30thbrigade Research Paper The 30thbrigade was originally the 6th brigade located in Fort Bliss, which moved to Fort Sill in 2010. It was switched over in May 18, 2012. The reason for the change was because Col. Bill Stacy was wanting to get a new set of colors. Since there was an upcoming parade, he wanted the colors to be standing out. The Center of Military History, informed him that there was no set of colors or that they didn t have any colors for them. Due to the fact that they didn t have any direct link to any wartime unit. As Col. Bill Stacy being the commander to the unit he was in his belief. After The Center of Military History showed him some letter of when the 6th ADA brigade came to be he found out that the unit was created in 1988 and were never assigned ... These troops were the ones that manned the Nike Hercules missiles. He saw the important role that these troops played in defending these islands. So he decides to come up with a motto and came up with the motto Always on Target . The troops always had to be aware and focus. The missile was armed with a nuclear war head. It was mostly used in short range combat. This is why they always need to be on target whenever they launched one of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Expected values were calculated by multiplying the totals by 1/4 (0.25) for each phenotype. The X2 values for the section and course results were 1.50 and 10.96, respectively. Discussion The X2 value for each cross was calculated to determine that the observed and expected ratios according to Mendelian inheritance were close in agreement (Garey et. al 2013). In order to determine if the observed deviations for each cross were within the limits expected by chance,10% and 25% of similar trials. • 4. Brealy Chapter 23 Answers to Practice Questions 1. Downward sloping. This is because high coupon bonds provide a greater proportion of their cash flows in the early years. In essence, a high coupon bond is a shorter bond than a low coupon bond of the same maturity. 2. The key here is to find a combination of these two bonds (i.e., a portfolio of bonds) that has a cash flow only at t = 6. Then, knowing the price of the portfolio and the cash flow at t = 6, we can calculate the 6 year spot rate. We begin by specifying the cash flows of each bond and using these and their yields to calculate their current prices: Investment Yield C1 . . . C5 C6 Price 6% bond 12% 60 . . . 60 1,060 $753.32 10% bond 8% 100 . . . 100 1,100 $1,092.46 From the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 5%, five year note: 3. 10%, five year note: d. First, we calculate the yield for each of the two bonds. For the 5% bond, this means solving for r in the following equation: r = 0.05964 = 5.964% For the 10% bond: r = 0.05937 = 5.937% The yield depends upon both the coupon payment and the spot rate at the time of the coupon payment. The 10% bond has a slightly greater proportion of its total payments coming earlier, when interest rates are low, than does the 5% bond. Thus, the yield of the 10% bond is slightly lower. e. The yield to maturity on a five year zero coupon bond is the five year spot rate, here 6.00%. f. First, we find the price of the five year annuity, assuming that the annual payment is $1: Now we find the yield to maturity for this annuity: r = 0.05745 = 5.745% g. The yield on the five year Treasury note lies between the yield on a five year zero coupon bond and the yield on a 5 year annuity because the cash flows of the Treasury bond lie between the cash flows of these other two financial instruments. That is, the annuity has fixed, equal payments, the zero coupon bond has one payment at the end, and the bond s payments are a combination of these. 7. A 6 year spot rate of 4.8 percent implies a negative forward rate: (1.0486/1.065) 1 = 0.010 = 1.0% To make money, you could borrow $1,000 for 6 years at 4.8 percent and lend $990 for 5 years at 6 percent. Classification And The Descriptive Terms The classification and the descriptive terms employed in the present work with some modifications, follows that Peck (1957) and Grambast (1974 1975) for Clavatoraceans as well as the more recently modified classification proposed by Martin Closas (1989), Martin Closas Salas (1994), that subsequently published by Schudack (1993a, 2011, 2012). • 8. Review Of The Little Albert Experiment Madison Berry October 30, 2014 Section #2 NetID: meberry John Watson and Classical Conditioning In psychology, respondent behavior is behavior learned through classical conditioning. This type of learning is defined as a way in which one learns to link two or more stimuli while also anticipating events; or other wise, known as a kind of learning that occurs when a conditioned stimulus is paired with an unconditioned stimulus. While classical conditioning was accidently discovered by Ivan Pavlov, John B. Watson was interested in taking Pavlov s experiences a bit further. Watson s ultimate goal was to research how classical conditioning could be seen through humans and not just through animals. An in depth look on John Watson s actual experiment can be better explained and found in the article titled, The Little Albert Experiment on http://psychology.about.com/od/classicpsychologystudies/a/little albert experiment.htm. John Watson s Contribution Classical conditioning is identified as the type of learning where the nature of the research conditions a fear response to the subject being experimented on. An implication of the research for human behavior involving conditioned fear response would describe how a child might be afraid of storms because of the partnership between the storm and the sound of the loud thunder. This being said, John B. Watson wanted to further explain this reasoning of classical conditioning through his own experiment that many people call The Little ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Self-Expression in Theodore Roethke s Elegy for Jane Essay Self Expression in Theodore Roethke s Elegy for Jane Theodore Roethke demonstrates an abiding honesty toward the facts of his experience. Roethke, who was one of America s teaching poets before his death, was self absorbed, and his poetry derives much of its imaginative strength from his quest for that communion joining self and creation (Mills 527 28). In Elegy for Jane, one of his most successful poems, he blends his grief for his student Jane Bannick with his childhood memories, his students experiences, and his role as teacher. Childhood memories of his father s greenhouse, field, and stand of virgin timber in Michigan s Saginaw Valley characterize Roethke s poetry. The poet s memories provide a fund to draw from for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the poet s grief may be the result of a mix of reality and imagination. The teacher poet could be imagining how he would feel at the death of another of his students. At the University of Washington, as at his other teaching posts, he enjoyed popularity with his students and frequently formed close relationships with them; however, this was not true in the case of Jane Bannick. Seager reveals that the poet had not known Jane very well. She was his student for only one quarter. In addition to the grief that he felt at Jane s tragic death, his emotions may have been stirred by the experiences of Lois Lamb, another of his students. Lamb, who fell from a horse the previous summer, described the fall and her fears to her teacher in detail (193). Seager also mentions that Roethke and Lamb conducted a series of `experiments with a flock of turkeys at the Pinel Sanitarium during Roethke s 1949 50 hospitalization for manic depressive illness (187). These visits indicate that Roethke was closer to Lamb than to Bannick. It would seem that his relationship with Lamb would be more likely to create an awareness in the poet of the intense grief that would result at the tragic severing of an exceptionally close teacher student bond. Roethke finally expresses his loss and perhaps an imagined loss in terms of a unique human relationship: neither father nor lover. As a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lastly, although they have an extensive menu selection, this place, in fact, is not specializing in vegetarian dishes in that Pho is made with either beef stock or chicken stock. Such use of raw vegetables is one of the great things about this restaurant that makes it so fresh, but, it does not necessarily mean it is a good place for vegetarians. She and her family had to go into hiding because of what they believed in. During the Holocaust it was a very rough time for Jewish people. For example, they had to wear the star of David and if they were found they were taken to a concentration camp, where they were treated rudely and with no respect. • 17. Similarities And Similarities Between Francis Bacon And... The personal lives of great artists are often the most tragic; neglectful parents, drug addictions, failed relationships, and mental instability seem to the most common tropes. The British painter Francis Bacon and Anna Kavan, born as Helen Woods, are no exception. The similarities between their personal lives and artistic creations are striking. Both had the misfortune of neglectful parents, both moved from country to country throughout their lives, both were addicted to either heroin or alcohol, but both created gruesome and masterful works of art. Anna Kavan s mother was detached and negligent. Both of Kavan s two marriages failed. She became addicted to heroin in her twenties as a way to self medicate for her depression. She spent time in insane asylums towards the end of her life. Francis Bacon s parents were far from caring; his father exiled him after Bacon expressed his homosexuality. After being entrusted to the care of a family friend, he fell in love with the older man that whisked him around the European continent. He began painting after seeing an exhibit of Pablo Picasso s work and took many years to find success with this trade. Often he resorted to alcohol and held private, and very illegal, gambling clubs to make a sort of income. He entered an extremely mentally and physically abusive relationship. These adversities from personal lives influenced the work of both individuals to a tremendous degree. Characters in Kavan s stories are frequently a kind of autobiography Anna Kavan was one of her character s names that Helen Woods eventually adopted after a mental breakdown. Francis Bacon s work pictured many of his acquaintance and lovers, scenes of homosexuality, and scenes of pain. Understanding the individual s personal circumstances adds a new layer of meaning and interpretation to their creations. A most encompassing comparison of the two individuals is that they both produced works of cosmic horror; however, it is not entirely the typical Lovecraftian horror associated with the genre. Bacon s paintings as visual experiences are quite unlike other works considered to be cosmic horror; however, their unconventionality does not exclude them. • 18. Causes Of The Pequot War The Pequot War started in 1636 and ended in 1637. The war consisted of the Pequot people and a coalition of English settlers from the Massachusetts Bay. It was a brutal war and was the first sustained conflict between Native Americans and Europeans in northeastern North America. The primary cause of the Pequot War was the struggle to control trade. The Dutch brought on economic, political, and cultural changes when they arrived on Long Island and in the Connecticut River valley at the beginning of the 17th century and of English traders and settlers in the early 1630s. The world they entered into was dominated by the Pequot. The root of the Pequot War was the struggle for control of the fur and wampum trade in the Connecticut River valley. Before the arrival of the English in the early 1630s, the Dutch and Pequot controlled all the region s trade. The situation was precarious because of the resentment held by the subservient Native American tribes for their Pequot overlords. So, when the English wanted to join in on the scene, those other tribes sought alliance with them, shifting the balance of regional power. This brought conflict as the competition for control of trade escalated quickly. As tensions grew between all parties, the murder of trader John Oldham by the Manisses Indians of Block Island in July, 1636 resulted in a military response by the English of Massachusetts Bay that led directly to the Pequot War. This was the beginning of the Pequot War. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Arm Wrestling With My Father Rhetorical Analysis The relationship between a father and their child is tremendously salient, and will influence the life of both the parent and the adolescent in many ways. Often, it can be difficult for someone to share their personal relationships that they had with their father, as it can be a very delicate subject. Despite this, renowned authors Brad Manning and Sandra Cisneros are two people who chose to write about their unique experiences and childhoods that they shared with their fathers. Both Brad and Sandra felt their childhood relationships with their fathers were unorthodox. This was explicitly outlined in Brad s freshman composition paper titled Arm Wrestling With My Father and Sandra s magazine article titled Only Daughter. Through varying rhetorical strategies, the authors purpose and audience is clearly portrayed in both selections. One of the most important components to any piece of writing is the intended audience. In Arm Wrestling With My Father, Manning s intended audience is anyone who may have had an abnormal or physical relationship with their father. He wanted his paper to be read by individuals that grew up with a lack of emotional love and an abundance of physical contact with their fathers. Jack London s To Build a Fire is a fascinating story with a remarkably well described setting, and geographical descriptions of the surrounding Yukon areas. It portrays an overconfident man, whom because of his lack of intuition and stubbornness, succumbs to natures unforgiving climate. Claim 1: In 1897 London and his brother in law, Captain James Shepard joined the Klondike Gold Rush. He used this experience to describe the settings of some of his first successful writings. His time spent in the Klondike was very harmful to his health. Like many other men working in the harsh conditions, London was malnourished in the goldfields, and he developed scurvy. He lost four of his front teeth and he was plagued by constant pain in his hips and legs. His face was scared by the rigid work he endured, and these hard ships inspired London to write his short story, To Build a Fire . London s exceptional use of foreshadowing in the title and within the first couple of lines of his story tells the reader that the character of the story will come into hardship, his use of foreshadowing is expressed within the first sentence of his story, There was no sun or promise of sun, although there was not a cloud in the sky. There is a great amount of expectations and insecurities placed on teens that hinder them from being active participants in the world. In the 1990 s and the 2000 s, two separate films were released that depict the cultural norms, social expectations, and developments of teenagers at that period of time. Shaara gives action and words to characters of another time, and then places these players on the stage of this great battle. Through the use of powerful biblical and non biblical imagery and themes the epic nature of the battle at Gettysburg and its characters are enhanced. Such imagery and themes, combined with Shaara s fictionalization, help to contribute to why this single battle holds such monumental significance and influence upon the lives of Americans over a century removed from its occurrence. This helps to give the entire event a timeless characteristic. The Confederates tend to fill the aspects of biblical imagery and themes in more numerous ways than that of the Union side. This is due, in part, to the fact that the Confederate Army had a more unified religious belief system as well as a solid , devotional like faith in Lee as their leader. (Shaara ix) Lee is the pinnacle of the Confederate hierarchy. He is like an angel of the Lord (Shaara 67) in the presence of his men. On the first day of battle he is prompted from within himself to ride out to merely be seen by his soldiers in the midst of battle in order to boost morale. (Shaara 112) Not only is Lee aware of the importance he holds in the eyes of his men and the strength that he gives them, but also in his weakness and weariness. He does not attribute to himself qualities that superseded God. Shaara emphatically states that Lee believed absolutely in God . (Shaara x) Lee s divinity is attributed to him by his men. For instance, Longstreet conveyed to Arthur Fremantle a conversation concerning Darwin s theory of evolution. He stated that even though those discussing the issue agreed that Darwin s theory was probably true, one person spoke out that Lee didn t come from no ape . Change can have a positive or negative impact on the surrounding environment, both internally and externally. Implementing a change requires adjustments to the status quo, sometimes leading to employees that are directly affected by the change to feel threatened. Change can also produce positive reactions, such as boosting morale, increasing profits, or decreasing costs. A new change in an environment must be carefully planned out, to ensure that the expected results are achieved while maintaining all other processes at an acceptable level. Riskin also correlates this rule to having a positive impact on the esprit de corps of the firm. This rule in particular allows firms that are struggling with introducing change to overcome this resistance. Another valid rule of Riskin s seven is to ask for commitment not agreement (Riskin, 2006, p. 30). This rule displays the need that not everyone in the firm has to be 100% on board with the impending change, but everyone has to be committed enough to the firm to go along with the change. This is invaluable advice for legal firms (such that I have experienced) which struggle to achieve change buy in from select partners. With emphasizing the fact that everyone must be on board for what is best for the firm, it allows the reduction or elimination of possible sabotage efforts from people who are resistant to change. Riskin concludes, fostering change in a law firm seems impossible because most Managing Partners treat the activities associated with such change as if they were component piece of a legal transaction. All of these resistances can be overcome by following the rules outlined by Riskin. When focusing on the practical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The new testament is filled with numerous amount of parables which seem to be stories that Jesus told in order to get his message across. The word parable comes from παροιμιαν which means a figure of speech., and this is the way that Jesus spoke. I have spoken to you in figures of speech; the hour is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but tell you plainly of the Father. (John 16:25) When Jesus spoke to the people this is how he spoke to them However, while it seems that these were simple stories it is apparent from the reading that Jess s parables were methodically thought through with each being very precisely accurate in the structure of the stories. Moreover, followers can seem to have a different meaning to these parables because depending on the situation and relationship with Jesus that a particular person had it is possible for the interpretation may not match the next persons. Yet, Jesus has used these analogy to illustrate his point, people of Jesus time may have understood him better when the parables could be related to their every day lives. In the new testament of the Bible there is an astounding 46 parables. Of the 46 parables in the bible some of those are repeated within the other gospel but one which is unique to all the others is one parable the good Samaritan And these were important information that was needed in order for the ... The depiction of the human figure has drastically changed over time from an undeveloped form to a more detailed rendering. This transformation can be seen from Early Bronze Age figurine models to Ancient Hellenistic sculptures. Examples of early figurines are small with disproportionate and unusual bodies while much later sculptures are large scale showing the importance of corrected bodily proportions. Tiny figures generally had the same poses lacking facial and body definition details while later sculptures have exquisite, clear facial features, and deeply chiseled bodies. The developments of sculptors overtime produced advancements in Greek sculpture. This can be seen especially in certain sculpture subjects like Greek athletics, mythology, political depictions, as well as scenes of tragedy or death. Magazine covers, advertisements or any publication embed a set of ideologies. O Shaughnessy and Standler describe ideologies as sets of social values, ideas, beliefs, feelings and representations by which people collectively make sense of the world they live in (2012; 174). Ideologies try to manipulate people into buying a way of life as well as goods (Dyer, 1982:5).
