4. • CASE STUDY: THE MORNING SHOW
• The Morning Show is a 3-season series on
Apple TV+ released first in 2019, with the
latest season being released in
September of 2023. Since the very
beginning, the show’s promoters relied
heavily on social media, with a particular
focus on Instagram.
5. THE COLOR PALETTE
• Sticking to a contrasting color palette, the morning show uses bright
colors in their graphic design, these being mustard yellow, red, blue,
white, gray, and black. The base colors serve to make the primary
colors pop and have better contrasting when on top of them. The
yellow represents the sunrise, while the blue and red, other than
complementing the yellow and the bright color pattern, seem to
represent the SMPTE color bars in an abstract way, possibly implying a
behind-the-scenes look into the world of morning TV. Season 1 had a
clear prevalence of gray in promotional material, whereas season 2 had
blue accents and wash, with season 3 taking on the yellow/ black/
white color scheme. All of the promotional material seems to have an
element of sunrise to it, whether it be rimlight on of the characters’ hair,
a bright gradient on a background, or an orb of light. These elements
are usually contrasted by a blue feature or a gray element. The blue
could imply nighttime, possibly the moments that lead up to sunrise,
and the gray adds a depressing tone to the image, labeling the show
as a drama. The use of bright colors here could also be ironic in the
context of the fake public image of the characters presented on TV
versus their real thoughts and behavior when the cameras are o
ff
, and
they are in the darkness of their vast, empty homes as opposed to the
bright TV studio loaded with LED screens and confetti.
12. • SUPPORTING CASE STUDY:
• Sunset Boulevard is a theatrical musical
production on The West End, directed by artist
Jamie Lloyd Webber. It was opened in September
2023 and will complete its run January 2024.This
is an example of an Instagram account whose
visual attributes are fundamentally similar to
those of Red-Handed due to the nature of the
genre and the color palette.

Audience and Tone of Voice
Since our account is likely to gain people who know us and are to some extent
involved in the project as followers, we feel like it would be appropriate to use
the platform to acknowledge those people rather than solely promote the
fi
lm.
Namely, we believe we should educate and inform on the
fi
lmmaking process in
an interesting way, and simultaneously show our personalities while discussing
topics, inspirations, etc., taking the audience deeper into our behind-the-scenes
process than the surface level posters and trailers. An informal tone and setting,
along with. The professional look and editing style will communicate , which is
then to be broken by our informal tone. A lot of outtakes will be included in the
behind the scenes - just enough to raise likability, but also be mixed to establish
seriousness and stability for the brand image.
