This slide deck is from a presentation that I gave to members of my local community on how social media could benefit the community and the organizations that serve it.
The document discusses the rise of social networking in the digital era. It begins by defining social networking as interaction between groups of people who share common interests. It then lists some of the most popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The document explores both the pros and cons of social networking. It highlights how social networking allows people to connect globally but can also lead to issues like loss of privacy, addiction, cyberbullying, and repetitive strain injuries. Overall, the key stakeholders that benefit the most from social networking are its creators, advertising agencies, hackers, and gaming businesses.
The document summarizes how The Hobson & Holtz Report podcast builds community and strengthens customer relationships. It discusses how the podcast offers compelling content, asks for listener opinions, and provides platforms for engagement. Key aspects include having regular correspondents, live call-in episodes, and encouraging listeners to share ideas, knowledge, and help solve problems. The podcast network has grown to include multiple shows and engages its global audience through various social media platforms.
From Inbox to iPod: Meshing Today's Social Media Elements into the Marketing ...Greg Cangialosi
A presentation I have at this years edu Web Conference on July 24, 2007. The talk is given to an academic crowd but is highly relevant to marketing in general.
The document discusses building collaboration within the HimGlo movement through the use of technology. It proposes that an online platform could help foster relationships, share resources, and build a shared identity. The platform would allow participants to communicate, share ideas and testimonies, coordinate events, and collaborate on projects from a central online location. The goal is to inspire and empower Nepali/Himalayan Christian leaders through greater connectivity and partnership.
The document discusses how to build communities using content. It outlines that communities today are about conversations rather than one-way information delivery. It then discusses the role of community managers in planning and curating content to connect people and engage the community. Content is described as the key to making a community findable, shareable, searchable, and worth discussing. The document provides tips for community managers, such as developing an understanding of the community and connecting people directly.

The document discusses how personal and professional success can be achieved through networking and social media. It recommends developing a variety of strong and weak ties within and outside one's organization using both online and offline networks. It also suggests being selective, active, and creating awareness in networks by maintaining an online profile and presence. The key is to network broadly across different communities and with people who are diverse rather than just those similar to oneself.
This document provides guidance for councillors at Kirklees Council on using social media for communication, engagement, and collaboration. It discusses how social media has evolved from one-way communication to open conversations and the importance of listening to communities, participating in online discussions, and being open to new ways of working together using these tools. The guidelines encourage councillors to think about how social media can help achieve outcomes, improve public services, and work better with partners and residents.

I became passionate about social media some time around 2005. It was then that I discovered
blogging as a means of reaching people as a REALTOR for Strong Team REALTORS. Ever since
then, I have been committed to exploring social media and its benefits for businesses and
communities. My goal is to share those benefits with as many people as possible so that they can
take advantage of them to achieve their own goals.
For the last few years, Iʼve been able to travel all over the country meeting with and speaking to
real estate professionals; helping them use social media to enrich their businesses and
relationships. This lead to my appointment as the Vice-Chair for the National Association of
REALTORS Business Systems and Information Technology Forum and a position as Community
Manager for Inman News, the countryʼs leading real estate industry news organization. As the
Community Manager for Inman News, Iʼve had the opportunity to put into practice a lot of the
strategies and techniques I talk about in a corporate setting.
If you would like me to speak to your group or organization, Iʼm happy to help. If you want to get to
know me a little better, or need to get in touch, here are some spots on the Internet where you can
