The American Eagle Ethos
Motivation drives us to accomplish our goals in life. A simple sentence such as I can get through
this day. or I can become president. turns into the driving factor that helps us reach our destination.
We all have used the I can statement and American Eagle has taken that statement to the next level
in their #WeAllCan Campaign. The minute long video features a cast of celebrities in different
settings throughout New York like Coney Island wearing a casual style of clothing. Black and
white scenes intertwine with color scenes throughout the video, with even a vintage style of film
shown. Through the credibility of the cast, the American Eagle Campaign effectively appeals to a
target audience of millennials. The campaign uses pathos to create a cause of individuality and
speaking out, but only uses those celebrities in a stereotypical way to sell the brand of clothes.
This advertisement features a group of well known millennials from our generation that give an
immense amount of credibility to the commercial. It has role models of social media, music,
television, and the fashion industry. Some actors that appear frequently are Troye Sivan, an out of
the closet gay musician, Hailee Steinfeld, famous actor of Blackish, and Cody Christian, the
recurring actor from Pretty Little Liars. This cast shows individuality and the new generation by
having different races, sexual orientation, and gender. The ethos in the video attracts not only
heteronormative buyers with the

Young And Immature In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet, the star crossed lovers , do not have real love at all (Shakespeare). They are
too young to have true love, instead it is just based off looks. If they are older they might
understand what love really is. Since they are young and immature they rush into decisions they
make. They also take drastic measures in the decisions and how to handle themselves. They are
young and immature, and this is why their story ends the way it does, in complete tragedy.
Romeo loves with his eyes, but he does not love with his heart. He is too immature to stay true to
one girl if there is another girl that is more beautiful. Romeo meets Juliet and says to Friar
Laurence . . . my heart s dear love is set / On the fair daughter of rich Capulet ... Show more content

When Romeo tells Friar Laurence . . . but this i pray, / That thou consent to marry us today Friar
knows it is very immature, but only does it to possibly end the feud between the families (II, iii,
63 64). They could be mature and wait things out to see if them loving each other would work, but
instead they just get married. If they would just wait to find a good time to maybe talk to their
parents about it, that would be the mature thing to do. Romeo also has immaturity not in love, but
in revenge. After Tybalt kills Mercutio, Romeo immaturely goes and gets Tybalt. Most of us would
do this, but it is still immature. Romeo should just wait for the Prince to give Tybalt his
punishment and everything would be fine. Instead Romeo goes and kills Tybalt, and puts his own
life in jeopardy. If Romeo would be mature and think about these things, the Prince would not
banish him to Mantua and he could still see Juliet and be with his

Lifetime Goal
It is never too late for further education, it was something that I ve always wanted to do but didn t
have the opportunity when I was young and then the business required much of my attention to
ensure it strive and continue to grow in this competitive, complex environment. I ve taken the
approach of lifetime learningto better prepare myself for the challenges that lies ahead. Studying
Bachelor of Business Administration will make me become a better leader in broadening my
horizon by constructing and deconstructing my views, attitudes, beliefs and behaviors through
extensive research and openness to new ideas.
It would be important to monitor the progress of each term and then taking a balance and variety
approach in selecting the set of courses for the following term by balancing the new with the old;
required courses and elective courses. Exploring the curriculum with a balance approach will allow
me to be more productive and less mentally fatigued. For example, I might be familiar with Basic

The Role of Sacred Space in Judeo-Christian Religions
The Role of Sacred Space in Judeo Christian Religions
Certain physical locations take on important meanings in the world s religions. Religions consider
various geographic elements such as different cities, regions, mountains, and rivers to be sacred.
For example, Hindus travel to the Ganges River to cleanse themselves from their sins (Momen
157). One of the requirements of all Muslims is that they make a pilgrimage to the holy city of
Mecca (Eastman 398). Judeo Christian religions also have certain places that are held sacred to
their followers. The concept of sacred space is important to Judeo Christian religions, because it
helps to explain the questions of existence. Sacred space provides something tangible to represent ...

With the current knowledge of humans, these matters cannot be adequately explained. Furthermore,
these ideas cannot be expressed with current human language (Barbour 90). To compensate for the
inability to explain the unexplainable and the lack of sufficient answers to life s questions, Judeo
Christian religions tend to employ tangible phenomena as much as possible. The concept of sacred
space is important to religions, because it offers a tangible representation of the religion for its
believers. This can help to humanize the supernatural and the concept of spirituality. Sacred space
helps to provide a structure for religions, as it closes the gaps of understanding of concepts that are
difficult to grasp with human understanding.
Judeo Christian religions employ the concept of location as a storytelling tool. Stories help to
explain intangible concepts, and the use of specific places in biblical stories helps to concretize
these concepts. In the story of Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden is described as a beautiful
place. In the center of the garden are the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and
Evil (Gen. 2.8 3.24 NAB). This story utilizes tangible elements to represent deeper meanings. The
Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil symbolizes the Lord s omnipotence. When Eve eats from this
tree, it represents humanity s sinful desire to be like God. In the New Testament, the story

How Did Jean Chreten Improve Canada
Prime Ministers have one of the hardest and most stressful jobs in the world. They need to take
care of the people of a country and to make them happy at all times. Prime Ministers need to have
really good leadership skills and need to make the best decisions for the country. If one Prime
Minister has failed to accomplish to improve a country, someone else has to be elected. But for
Jean Chretien, this has not been the case.
Jean Chretien was one of Canada s most important people in its history. He improved Canada s
economy. He was mostly famous for being Canada s 20th Prime Minister for 10 years. Jean
Chretien is from Shawinigan, Canada and was born on January 11, 1934. He studied in Laval
University of Quebec (Quebec City) and studied law. He is a married man and helped Canada in

Around 1990, Chretien became the leader of the Liberal party and went back to the House of
Commons to help out New Brunswick with their BeausГ©jour project. Also, he improved Canada
s state in economy by getting rid of deficit and having more savings by the government to improve
Canada for five straight years. Additionally, he supported war but he wouldn t send troops to Iraq
because of the United Nations resolution.
Back in 2001, Canada was dependant with United States of America. When America got attacked
by the terrorist group Al Queda, Chretien was worried because it s been the first time since World
War 2 that the American border has been a huge problem. It was a problem because Canada needed
the American exports. Chretien wanted to help America but the Canadian troops had very little
recourses and a weak army. But in 2002, Canada sent their troops to help the Americans in
Afghanistan. But Chretien refused to send troops to the Iraq war without Authorization from the

Polar Bear Bones
Based on the jawbone s shape, scientists were confident that it belonged to an adult male polar
bear. The rock layers in which it was embedded, along with other dating techniques, suggest that
it is 110,000 to 130,000 years old older than any other known polar bear fossils. This date alone is
interesting because previous estimates for the origin of polar bears have ranged from 70,000 to
more than a million years ago. But, based on the new fossil s age, we can infer that the polar bear
lineage must be more than 110,000 years old. The anatomy and rocks in which the jawbone was
preserved provided useful information but the fossil had an even more powerful line of evidence:
DNA.

Legendary Betsy Ross and the American Flag Essay
Legendary Betsy Ross and the American Flag
The American flag has long been a symbol of our country, but there have been certain doubts
about its origin. No one really knows who sewed the American flag. The legend of Betsy Ross
has been told many times, but some people look upon it as a myth, saying Betsy Ross never even
existed. Betsy Ross was indeed a real person who lived in the 1700 s, but no one can prove she
actually sewed the American Flag.
Betsy Ross did not have an extremely interesting childhood. She was born Elizabeth Griscom on
January 1, 1752, to a Quaker couple. Her father s name was Samuel Griscom, who worked as a
carpenter. The Quakers were members of the religious society of friends. (Comptons 1). She lived in

He died a military prisoner on March 3, 1782, leaving the once again widowed Betsy with two
young daughters. Then on May 8, 1783, Betsy Ross married for the third time to a man named
John Claypoole, who was the cellmate of Joseph Ashburn. They had five daughters, but John
Claypoole died in 1817. Following the death of her third husband, she lived with one of her
daughters in Philadelphia until her death on January 30, 1836 (Walters 335).
The American Flag is a symbol of our country. The leaders of the Revolution realized the need for
a distinctive American flag. Betsy Ross had taken up flag sewing in addition to upholstery. In fact,
she was the official flagmaker for the Pennsylvania Navy. George Washington came to Betsy Ross
in June of 1776 with two other men (Davidson 177).
When they came to Betsy Ross, George Washington and his committee had originally chosen a six
pointed star for the flag, but the six pointed star was the English rule (Tonn 18). Betsy convinced
them to use the design of a five pointed star, which was the French rule.
The committee of men who came to Betsy Ross were Robert Morris and Colonel Ross. Colonel
Ross was an uncle to Betsy s late husband John Ross, and that might have been the reason they
came to Betsy Ross in the first place (Compton s 1). However, she is credited to making the
Cambridge Flag, or the Continental Colors, which was raised at Somerville,

What Is The Extraordinary And Inspirational Beauty Of A...
The Extraordinary and Inspirational Beauty of a Thangka I chose to do my research paper on the
colorful and extraordinarily detailed mural titled Dhrtarastra (Dharma King of the East Direction)
with 16 Attendants by Shashi Dhoj Tulachand. Shashi is also known as Guru Nawang Chhogyall
Tenzin is a 69 year old spiritual leader of the Chhairo gompa, a branch of Tibetan Buddhismfrom
Tuksche, a remote village located in Mustang, Nepal s northernmost district, adjacent to Tibet. He is
a master in Buddhist thangka painting who is committed to re establishing the lost teaching
tradition of Chhairo gompa. Shashi comes from a long line of Buddhist artists, his father Kamal
Dhoj Tulachan, and grandfather were responsible for many wall paintings and statues to be
found in gompas, chortens and private household shrines in the villages of the Thak Kola and
the upper Kali Gandaki area. He began his artistic lifestyle at the young age of nine assisting his
father and older brother Krsna Dhoj Tulachan and accompanying them to villages around
Mustang. By the age of 18 he had begun his first solo project to paint the Mani Lha K an of
Gemi village, Mustang. Numerous Tibetan Buddhist monks are not necessarily trained, but have
practiced Buddhism and cohesive art techniques for most of their lives. The art pieces they
made have been used to hold peace and love in these towns. It is not only a form of art, but a
wonderful spiritual practice that relies on patience and true appreciation. A thangka, thanka or
tanka is a Tibetan Buddhist painting made on cotton, or silk appliquГ© using natural pigments
usually representing a Buddhist deity, scene, or mandala. Thangkas are traditionally kept
unframed and rolled up when not on display, mounted on a textile backing somewhat in the style
of Chinese scroll paintings, with an additional silk cover on the front. Thangkas can last a long
time, but because of their delicate nature, they have to be kept in dry places where moisture will
not affect the quality of the silk. Most thangkas are somewhat small, comparable in size to a
Western half length portrait, but some are extremely large, several meters in each dimension; these
were designed to be displayed, typically for very brief

My Position From A Kantian Perspective Essay
The Categorical Debate George told Martha where a large sum of money he had accumulated
was stored. He asked her to see that the money was given to the Society for Protection against
Alien Control of the Earth (SPACE). Now that he has died, she is considering using the money
to support the activities of the local Hunger Task Force, an organization that provides donated
food to those who need it. What should Martha do? My position from a Kantian perspective is
that Martha should give the money to the Society for Protection against Alien Control of the
Earth (SPACE) because of the agreement Martha made with George before he died. I shall
present arguments to support my position from a Kantian perspective by setting the precedence
demonstrated by Kant as is evidence in duty and moral obligation. I will also present arguments
to refute the utilitarian position that Martha should use the money to support the activities of
the local Hunger Task Force, an organization that provides donated food to those who need it. As
well as the arguments present by Kants catergorical imperative. Kant ascribes Duty means that
we should never act in any way that we wouldn t want the principle we act on to be a universal
law. Which in effect is something that is done as part of a job or because the law requires it.
Here, Martha agreed to ensure that the money left by George be given to (SPACE) therefore

The Teachings Of Phaedrus And Alcibiades
Phaedrus, an aristocrat, takes the stage first at the symposium. He explains that ErЕЌs is one of the
primordial gods, and that the love between a boy and a lover is the greatest love that exists. The
lover is meant to guide the boy, and the two must lead each other to examine themselves and feel
ashamed. ...[The boy] is especially ashamed before his lover when he is caught in something
shameful (Sym. 178E). Phaedrus later adds that ...Loveis...the most powerful in helping men gain
virtue and blessedness... (Sym. 180B). Alcibiades is the perfect example of shame when he speaks
about Socrates. He says that Socrates is the only man in the world who has made [him] feel

Alcibiades proves what Pausanias has said about Heavenly Love it s an attachment to the soul
and intelligence of a man, which Alcibiades feels toward Socrates. Eryximachus, a doctor, builds
on Pausanias speech. He says that Heavenly Love and those who feel it ...must be encouraged
and protected (Sym. 187D). Alcibiades encourages his own Heavenly Love for Socrates by
praising Socrates himself. He devotes his entire speech to the philosopher s image. There is not
much else to compare between Eryximachus and Alcibiades because Eryximachus simply adds to
what Pausanias has already stated. Aristophanes is a playwright who s eager to take a different
approach to the origins of erЕЌs. He says that humans were once great beings with four arms, four
legs, two faces and two sets of sexual organs. There were male, female and androgynous beings,
which were both male and female. They became prideful and planned to ascend to the heavens and
attack the gods. The gods couldn t kill the humans because then no one would worship them. Zeus
instead opts to cut the human beings in two and asks Apollo to smooth out their edges. This
decision created unforeseen consequences. ...Each [human] longed for its own other half, and so
they would throw themselves together, wanting to grow together. In that condition they would die

Salary Wages In Corrections
On a cold, bitter morning standing in a yard watching people move about, the wind stirs fallen

Listening Well-A Chaplain Vocation Summary
In Listening Well A Chaplain Vocation, Nicole Chivilis surprises me when he points out that
listening has a sacramental dimension. I have no doubt of that, but I never think of listening as
sacrament. Indeed, Chivilis indicates that in the hospital setting, circles of unity, understanding,
reconciliation and forgiveness among family members and friends could be formed to share about
their loved ones. They form a communion table and the chaplain is in the sacred space. Thus,
according to Chivilis, listening well creates a space in which a truth can be spoken. I think that
recognizing listening as sacrament is very significant because the stories that we the listeners
receive are sacred treasures. For that reason, I always feel blessed

The Disquieting Duckling Asger Jorn
The Disquieting Duckling by Asger Jorn (1959) is oil on canvas painting. The style of this painting
is Neo Dada, a movement with audio, visual and literary manifestations that had similarities in
method or intent with earlier Dada artwork. Asger Jorn played a massive role in this movement.
The title refers to a fairy tale by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersencalled The Ugly
Duckling. The story is about a duckling that is born in a corral and who suffers abuse from his
surroundings until, much to his delight and the surprise of others, matures into a beautiful swan,
the most beautiful bird of all. In the story, there are descriptions of this idyllic scenery, where all
appears to be nice and beautiful but is not. They feel disturbed by the duckling because it is
different and does not fit in.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The duckling was printed on the image. Another reason why the duckling is misplaced in this
painting, is that it is not formally a part of the art. It is a painting found at a flea market that Jorn
has modified. He makes only the abstracted elements, but since he chose to paint on this exact
surface, it holds a great significance as his adjustments. The Painting can roughly be divided into
two. The left side of the natural elements and the house that is made by an unknown painter and
with its naturalistic style is in high contrast to the right side with the duckling made by Asger Jorn
himself. The duckling is painted with very aggressive brush strokes that creates a movement in the
figure. It has an extensive range of colors uses primary and secondary pure colors to produce light.
The placement of the house gives a geometric element in the composition with the straight lines.
The house is an essential part of the painting because it adds the geometrical element and the
element of humans in what otherwise is nature and abstracted organic shapes. The bottom base is
somewhat neutral and unifies the two

The Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act ( Ppaca )
With the establishment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), more and more
Americans are able to have access to the healthcare, but roadblocks have occurred in the road to get
there. After the signing of the bill into law, about 26 states filed a lawsuit in the setting of a federal
court. This was done to challenge the constitutionality of the individual mandate (individuals must
possess a minimum level of health insuranceor face financial penalties) and the Medicaid
expansion (individuals earning less than 133% of the poverty level baseline are eligible for
Medicaid). The Medicare expansion is optional, however, as of current, all the states are
participating in it. The federal court had decided to determine is the two provisions of the bill were
unconstitutional or not and if it is right for other courts to rule on the constitutionality of the
Affordable Care Act. On the basis of this, the Supreme Courtdecided that the individual mandate is
a constitutional exercise of Congress to lay tax plans out. This decision was unexpected by many,
as lower courts believed the opposite of the mandate. The court ruled in favor on the basis of three
factors, which were Americans eventually have to pay less for the penalties rather than the price of
insurance, the mandate provision does not turn on an individual if they do not purchase insurance
and it does prohibit the IRS from collecting the payments through punitive means such as criminal
prosecution. These

The Most Important Importance Of Plants In Our Society
The importance of plants is often overlooked by the general public. They don t realize when they
eat, wear, or build something that none of it would be possible without plants. Complex life itself
only exists thanks to the evolution of plants. Throughout this essay, I hope to highlight some of the
most important aspects of plants including their ecological roles, historical roles, source of food,
medicinal uses, spices, erosion control, soilcontribution, and many others. The list of plant
importance could go on and on forever, but these seem to play the most pertinent role in our society.
Plants provide many products that benefit other organisms and their environments. Perhaps one of
the most important roles of the plant is photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which
light energy is converted into a usable form. Of this energy obtained by the plant, ten percent is
passed on through each level of the trophic chain, and the rest is given off as heat. This theory is
known as the 10% Law. The process of photosynthesis also consumes carbon dioxide, and releases
oxygen as a byproduct. This is arguably one of the most important functions of plants, because
oxygen is such a vital ingredient to life on Earth. With their oxygen producing capabilities, plants
have been coined as, The Lungs of the Earth . Another benefit that plants provide to their
ecosystems that has only been discovered since an increase in human pollution is their
detoxification potential. Many plants

Native American Healing Traditions Could Supplement Modern...
Many traditional Native medicines and healing practices were discouraged with the advent of
Western medicine, but now there is a movement to return to traditional ways (Zubek, 1994, p.
1924). Modern Western medicine treats the symptoms to cure a diseased state when the body is
out of homeostasis. Native American healing traditions do this as well with herbs and plants suited
to the purpose. These Native healing traditions also include sacred rituals, chants, and purification
rites to help bring the spirit and mind of the afflicted back into balance. In effect, treating the
whole person, not only the disease. A blending of these two healing practices could bring about

The findings of this survey showed that 73.6% agreed with the use of traditional medicines for
health maintenance, 79.2% agreed for benign illness, such as colds or sprained ankles, and
90.3% agreed for palliative care (Zubek, 1994, p. 1926). Where they disagreed the most was with
the use of traditional healing in the intensive care units, only 16.9% agreed with the use of this
treatment for serious illness, such as cardiac or respiratory compromise, whether in the hospital
(21.2% agreed) or as outpatients (26.4% agreed). Nearly half (48.6%) agreed with using traditional
medicines for chronic illnesses, such as non insulin dependent diabetes or Parkinson s disease
(Zubek, 1994, p. 1926). One instance where physicians were unwilling to allow their patients to use
Native medicine was while the patient is in the hospital, because the physician could be held
legally responsible for any treatment administered while admitted under their care. There is also
the problem of differentiating between legitimate Native healing practitioners and those who would
take advantage of anyone not aware of the proper rituals and techniques that need to be performed
(Zubek, 1994, p. 1929). This could be overcome by having a formalized licensing organization such
as is used by Western practitioners (i.e. American Society of Clinical Pathology [ASCP]). That
poses another problem though, as to whether traditionalists would be willing to have such an
organization.

Importance Of Proofs Of Teaching Mathematical Proofs
For many math students around the world, proofs are dreaded; they are seen as pointless
memorization of obvious ideas. These are most student s beliefs because they have never truly
been taught or experienced the true purposes of proofs. Zaslavsky, Nickerson, Stylianides, Kidron,
and Winicki Landman (2012) write to discuss the importance of teaching mathematical proofs in
school. They continue on to express reasons why students need proofs and the multiple ways in
which teachers can facilitate the learning and importance of proofs to their students. Zaslavsky et
al. (2012) cite numerous reasons for the importance of proofs, but the most prominent reasons
include strengthening student s ability to communicate mathematical knowledge, to instill
problem solving skills and methods, and lastly, to fulfill human intellectual needs. Each of these
reasons have been supported by research, and also come with challenges and concerns. The
most basic reason Zaslavsky et al. (2012) cite as to why proofs should be taught in school is
because doing so can increase and strengthen student s abilities to communicate mathematical
knowledge. Most students are more than capable of applying formulas and solving the problems
presented to them in classes with a little practice. A majority of these students, however, have no
clue as to why the methods they are using work, or if they will work with any set of numbers they
are presented (Yopp, 2009). Proof researcher David Yopp (2009) has observed

Netherlands Research Paper
Netherlands Culture The Netherlands is home to more than 16 million people and is home to what
is perhaps one of the most diverse and complex cultures on the continent of Europe. The
Netherlands is bounded by the North Sea to the north and west, Germany to the east, and Belgium
to the south (Michael J. Wintle, n.d.). One of the more densely populated countries in the world, the
Netherlands has a wide array of ethnic and ideological heritage. Cultureis the characteristics and

Spain played a particularly large role during the early years of the nation, with England and France
also attempting to impose their will upon the Dutch. Victories against the Spaniards in the
decades following 1587 claimed many lands and helped to separate the Dutch as an
independently governed nation. Recognition by the English and French of Holland as individual
also helped this cause. From 1621 1648 the Dutch were once again at war with Spain. At the
onset of this war, the outcome did not look well for the Netherlands, as Spain had captured Breda,
an important fortress in the south. Following this, however, the Dutch began to take back key
pieces of land in the south and had several pivotal naval victories against the Spanish. Included in
these naval victories were Piet Heyn s celebrated capture of the Spanish silver fleet, off the coast of
Cuba, and the destruction of a Spanish fleet in the Downs, off the English coast (Michael J. Wintle,
n.d.). Following the signing of a treaty in 1648, the Spaniards now formally recognized the
Netherlands as an independent state. The Dutch once again experienced naval success in the 1670s
against French forces. This time, the Netherlands succeeded in driving away France, and pushing
England out of its territories. Throughout the next century, or more, the Dutch clashed with French,
English, and Prussian forces. Dutch patriots played a key role in taking back the land with help

The Decision Making Process At York College
Part Two Decision making, as defined by Mintzberg, is The process of developing a
commitment to a course of action (Dee Bess, 2008,2012). The decision by York College to stop
using their old data mining software was made about ten months ago, and the process for finding
the new software began about six months ago. It is difficult to classify academic analytics as a
strategic, tactical, or operational decision because it has elements of all three. Strategic applies as
one of the primary goals is to improve student graduation rates and retention. It is a tactical
decision because the software will be used to improve the product we are providing our students to

Introduction
Cats are among the earliest companions of men and have been kept as pets in several homesteads
for decades. The health of the cat is very important, and thus, the owner needs to make sure that the
pet is always in good vigor. Attainment of good heath transpires with the use of foods that have the
right ingredients needed by the cats. Mainly, a majority of the food that cats consume is a
composition of foodstuffs that their owners offer. However, some of the foodstuffs that individuals
consume are not recommended for the pet as they affect their health. Vegans and vegetarians are
individuals, who do not consume a number of animal products such as meat, milk, and in some
instances, eggs. Fundamentally, there is a wide range of vegan food that manufactures provide in
the market for various pets. It is vital that the individuals purchase vegan food manufactured by
approved vendors because a wrong choice in food leads to serious complications on the health of the

Biopsychosocial Factors Of Mental Health And Occupations
Mental Health and Occupations
Aspasia Manettas
Mercy College
October 2017
Abstract
Two types of medical interviews are the biomedical approach, involving only biological factors,
and the biopsychosocial approach that includes both psychosocial factors and biological factors.
Because of the psychosocial factors in the latter approach, the medical practitioner can build a bond
with the patient and treat them as a whole. Social factors such as a patient s occupation play a huge
role in mental health. Occupations can cause stress on someone s body and mind, leading to mental
illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Knowing patients on a more personal level can strengthen
the outcome of their diagnosis and treatment.
There are two model approaches to patient interviewing in the medical field. The biomedical
interview approach, and the biopsychosocial interview approach. The biomedical approach focuses
only on the biological effects on health and medicine. This approach is faster and sees a higher
quantity of patients. According to Science The Need for a New Medical Model: A Challenge for
Biomedicine, the biomedical model, ...assumes disease to be fully accounted for by deviations
from the norm of measurable biological (somatic) variables (Engel 130). The biopsychosocial
approach, on the other hand, focuses not only on the biological effects, but also the psychological
and social effects on health and medicine as well. This approach digs deeper into the patient s
history, uses more variables, and finds the source of the problem and solves it. According to the
article Reflections on a New Medical Cosmology, the biopsychosocial approach ...gives recognition
to the difficulties and distortions involved in framing qualitative issues, whether psychological or
social, in quantitative terms, and so provides a separation between those appropriately... (Greaves
82). It is often seen that because the biomedical approach does not include psychological and social
factors, much information is left out, and the patient and medical professional cannot fully make a
connection with each other. It is important to form a trustworthy bond with patients so that you

Application Of A New Computer Network Linking All Of It ...
Networking is required to make accessible communication between computers possible by a
network connection. Networking allows for many possibilities, such as accessing the internet, file
sharing, file transferring and system communication. Throughout this assignment I will be
attempting to provide information to facilitate the introduction of a new computer networklinking
all of IT D s premises.
In order to do this I intend to analyse the options available to assess which one, in my opinion is
their best option in terms of both network system and topologies.
Networking System Types
There are two types of networks; peer to peer and client server. I will discuss both networks in
detail before explaining which network I believe would work best for IT D s.
Peer to peer (p2p)
A peer to peer (P2P) network is created when two or more PCs are connected and share resources
without going through a separate server computer. This is a special kind of network type (
Network topology ). It describes computers that are networked to each other without a central
server being in between.
Peer to Peer networks are very popular with people who want to share files directly with one
another. The files do not have to be stored on a central server. Software has been developed that
can even put together a file from bits of the file stored across several peers on the network. For
example Torrent programmes can do this. The advantage is that no single computer needs to be
over loaded

Karen Dill, author of Violent rap lyrics make listeners more accepting of violence , states: Radio

type of language is used by minorities in rap music . Rap music has made their own image of
what women are in their eyes and this has caused others to treat females a certain way. Women

this about themselves having low self esteem, not wanting to be in relationships, and thinking they

Erich Maria Remarque s All Quiet On The Western Front
Book Review of All Quiet on the Western Front Mankind must put an end to war before war puts
an end to mankind. During his address to the United Nations General Assembly in 1961, John F.
Kennedy explained how war was an unnecessary and detrimental action to take for means of peace.
This quote exhibits the true values of the protagonist in the novel All Quiet on the Western Front
written by Erich Maria Remarque. The novel All Quiet on the Western Front is a remarkable way
to immerse into the lives of German soldiers during World War One due to the fact the author had
firsthand experience in the life of the war. To put it briefly, All Quiet on the Western Front is
considered the greatest war novel of all time by many sources and critics from all over the world
such as Redakteur Stohr, the Manchester Guardian, Le Monde, the Swedish Academy, and the
Saturday Review. The novel centers on the protagonist, Paul Bäumer, and his encounters while he
and his classmates were enlisted in the German army during World War One. The novel introduces
the many of the main characters in chapter one when the regiment is in line at the cookhouse to get
their evening ration of food. Paul encounters his first experience with death early in the novel when
one of his classmates dies in army hospital after they amputated his leg. In chapter three, the novel

The Effect of the Stroop Effect on Accuracy, Time and Self Confidence Levels
Stroop s 1935 study was the first experiment to test the Stroop effect as we know it now. The
Stroop task measures the participants ability to ignore some parts of the stimuli, either the color of
the word or what the word actually reads and pay attention to others. This is especially the case
when the stimuli is incongruent, or when color written does not match the color of the font it is
written in. The research question that this study seeks to answer is what effect if any does the
Stroop Effect have on accuracy, time and confidence levels of participants.
In their 2012 study, Khanna and Gupta asked how lunch and sociability affected Stroop test scores.

Sheehan, Donovan and MacLeod (1988) sought to find out if hypnosis affected Stroop test
performance. Participants were sorted into two groups, those highly susceptible to hypnosis, and
those not really susceptible to hypnosis. The subjects were tested three times, waking, under
hypnosis with no strategy manipulation and hypnosis with strategy manipulation. This study found
that reaction times and accuracy were not significantly different between those highly susceptible
to hypnosis and those not susceptible, however, both groups of participants had significantly
slower reaction times when hypnotized. This study shows that hypnosis slows down reaction
time, and does not increase accuracy. The gap in research that this study is aiming to fill is the
relationship between the stroop effect and time, accuracy, and confidence self ratings. This study
will have participants read both a congruent and incongruent Stroop task for both time and
accuracy. After they are finished they will self rate their confidence levels. Based on previous
studies, I predict that there will be a main effect of list type, I think that the congruent list will be
read faster, with better accuracy and a higher confidence level. I also predict that there will be a
main effect of task type. I think that the word naming task will be read faster, with better accuracy,
and a higher confidence level. I also predict that there will be an interaction effect. The

Literary Analysis Of The Turn Of The Screw
Gothic horror has been an interest to many people for centuries. It first peaked around the 1790
s. It is a stylistic genre of horror that uses a set of characteristics to cause a sense of fear in the
audience or readers. The Turn of the Screw, by Henry James, who also wrote his story in 1898
during the Victorian area, uses gothic horror conventions to reflect the complexity of the human
psyche which, leaves the audience with a sense of ambiguity, or fear of the unknown. The Turn of
the Screw is a great short storythat uses rhetorical and literary devices to express a ghost story. The
story involves a governess who becomes obsessed with the idea of trying to prove that there are
ghosts in the household, while also trying to do her job of protecting the children. She often
encounters two ghosts that she believes are trying to corrupt her pupils, and are also
communicating with them without her knowing. Henry Jamesuses his story to invoke the fears of
the Victorian era; fears of which include the corruption of children, potential evil, and the
reliability of a governess in a household. In our world, people are often asking themselves if they
can ever trust having someone entering their home. In The Turn of the Screw, Henry James uses
the fear of reliability to trigger the audience s fear of trusting someone into their home. For
example, in his short story, the governess questions what happened to the previous governess.
Mrs. Grose then proceeds to state, The last governess? She was also young and pretty almost as
young and almost as pretty, Miss, even as you, (James 130). Mrs. Grose implies that there was
an affair and because of it, the previous governess is no longer there. It can later be seen that Mrs.
Grose is suggesting that the current governess may cause trouble and end up being in the same
position as the previous governess; especially when Mrs. Grose says, ...almost as young and almost
as pretty, Miss, even as you, (James 130). The audience then becomes fearful and more cautious of
their choices because they wouldn t want this situation to occur to them. In There is a strong
prejudice against governess by Mary Maurice, the author states that in the Victorian era,
governesses often have

Some polygons of different kinds
In geometry a polygon ( /Л€pЙ’lЙ

joined to form a closed chain or circuit.
A polygon is traditionally a plane figure that is bounded by a closed path, composed of a finite
sequence of straight line segments (i.e., by a closed polygonal chain). These segments are called
its edges or sides, and the points where two edges meet are the polygon s vertices (singular:
vertex) or corners. An n gon is a polygon with n sides. The interior of the polygon is sometimes
called its body. A polygon is a 2 dimensional example of the more general... Show more content on

The polygon is also equilateral. * Tangential: all sides are tangent to an inscribed circle. *
Regular: A polygon is regular if it is both cyclic and equilateral. A non convex regular polygonis
called a regular star polygon.
Miscellaneous
* Rectilinear: a polygon whose sides meet at right angles, i.e., all its interior angles are 90 or 270
degrees. * Monotone with respect to a given line L, if every line orthogonal to L intersects the
polygon not more than twice.
Properties
Euclidean geometry is assumed throughout.
Angles
Any polygon, regular or irregular, self intersecting or simple, has as many corners as it has sides.
Each corner has several angles. The two most important ones are: * Interior angle The sum of the
interior angles of a simple n gon is (n в€’ 2)П
Ђ radians or (n в€’ 2)180 degrees. This is because
any simple n gon can be considered to be made up of (n в€’ 2) triangles, each of which has an angle
sum of ПЂ radians or 180 degrees. The measure of any interior angle of a convex regular n gon is
radians or degrees. The interior angles of regular star polygons were first studied by Poinsot, in
the same paper in which he describes the four regular star polyhedra. * Exterior angle Tracing
around a convex n gon, the angle turned at a corner is the exterior or external angle. Tracing all the
way around the polygon makes one full turn, so the sum of the exterior angles must be

Causes And Consequences Of Premature Birth Essay
Introduction Babies born before thirty seven weeks gestation are considered to be preterm, or
premature. More than one in every ten babies is born too early. Preterm birth complications are
the leading cause of death among children under five years of age. Premature birth has a wide
range of effects. All babies born before thirty seven weeks gestation are at risk for complications
that can have a lasting effect on the growing baby and family. At twenty four weeks, the survival
rate of a premature baby is only fifty percent. The many different causes and effects that
premature birth can have on the baby, his/her future development and family will be further
discussed in this paper. At birth a baby is considered one of the following: Premature (less than
thirty seven weeks gestation), Full term (thirty seven to forty two weeks gestation), Post term
(born after forty two weeks gestation) (Kaneshiro). A premature baby is not fully developed due
to exiting the womb prior to reaching full term. Due to this complication, premies will spend time
in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) if the doctor deems it necessary. A baby born at full
term weighs somewhere between five pounds eight ounces and eight pound thirteen ounces. A baby
born at thirty two weeks weighs somewhere around three and a half pounds, twenty eight weeks

As usual, Demetrius insists Helena stop following him; he even vows to harm her if she doesn t
leave him alone. Taking pity on Helena, Oberon instructs Puck to put some love juice in
Demetrius eyes at a moment when Helena will be the first person he sees upon waking. Titania

pursuit of Demetrius, Helena wanders past and notices the sleeping Lysander. She awakens him,
and he immediately falls in love with her. Cautious and heartbroken, Helena assumes Lysander is

Trenton Leadership Style Analysis
Leadership
Review of Subject
Leadership has a variety of meanings to different individuals, often based upon the circumstance
and situation which defines the term leader or leadership. Northouse (2016) defines leadership as,
a process by which an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. (p.
6). Sammi Caramella writes, Leadership is critical to every company. Workers need someone to
look to, learn from and thrive with. Every leader has their own style and strategy. Further,
leadership styles and methods vary because of outside influences and personal challenges. While
leadership is unique to everyone, there are some common ways to define the term. (2017).

I was not sure I could handle the position, but I had a Chief Petty Officer who took me under his
wing and began a rigorous on the job training program as the ship was deploying to the
Mediterranean within a matter of weeks. I learned years later the Chief was using a variety of
leadership techniques to help with my progression as a leader. He began with a skills approach
and later moved to more of a situational approach to help me learn my new role.
A skills approach takes a leader centered perspective on leadership with more emphasis on the
skills and abilities that an individual can learn. Using Katz s 1955 model, the three skill approach
suggests that effective leadership depends on three essential personal skills: technical, human, and
conceptual. The technical skill is knowledge and skill in a type of work or activity while the
human skill is the ability and knowledge around working with people. Human skills involve people,
technical involve working with things, and conceptual skills involve working with ideas (Northouse,

The Wonder Woman Feminism
During my junior year, my parents had allowed my uncle to live with us. At one point I got tired
of hearing some of the things he was saying so I got up to walk away. Immediately he got up and
charged after me shouting. I locked myself in my room and listened as he screamed to my
parents that I was a stuck up bitch who needed to learn some goddamn respect . I shouldn t be
called a bitch for having my own opinions and deciding to walk away from a situation. This idea
that men are superior to women, and women need to be submissive to them has been ingrained into
our society. With the recent release of Wonder Woman
, directed by Patty Jenkins, many people
have called into question how well Wonder Woman otherwise known as Diana in the movie
relates to feminism, and represents a positive image or an inspirational figure for women and
young girls in today s society. One of these people is Zoe Heller, who in turn wrote the article
God s Gift to Men . While I don t believe this was meant to be the typical inspiring feminist movie
that tells women to act like ball busters . I believe that Heller over analyzed this movie, and tried
to make it into her idea of what feminism is: where women preach about how they should be
treated and how others should view themselves. Heller started off by providing a quote from the
New York Times where it stated that they would be ending a campaign to make Wonder Woman
into an inspirational figure. She then addresses Diana s costume, which the

Pelagic Shark Evolution
Transformations in marine ecosystems produced by the functional elimination of apex predators,
recently due to the increasing scale of human exploitation of the sea, can derive in complex and
unpredictable consequences. As a consequence, it is expected a presumably increase of their
prey populations, many of them secondary predators, with severe cascade down effects on the
food webs (Baum et al. 2003, Myers et al. 2007, Dulvy et al. 2008). Hence, the management and
conservation of wide range predators such as pelagic sharks becomes highly necessary, yet
extremely difficult due to fast changes in their population dynamics as well as their high mobility
often in open oceans beyond countries jurisdiction zones (Dulvy et al. 2008, Sims 2010).... Show

the study of this shark s ecology, during the last decades mark recaptured and tagging studies have
documented that blue sharks use currents as the Gulf Stream and the Atlantic North Equatorial

populations. The North eastern Atlantic population consists primarily of immature individuals,
while adult males occupy more western NA Latitudes and adult females migrate to southern

Witchcraft Essay
Witchcraft is a fascinating subject that comes out of many regions of the world. There have been
time periods in which witchcraft was a prominent feature in society, and there has been times
when it has died down. One of the most interesting things about witchcraft is how it has
physically changed, how the concept of witchcraft has changed, and how people perceive and
view it has changed over centuries. What many people do not know is that witchcraft is actually
still practiced today in the US and all over the world. After a Religious Identification Survey by
the City University of New York in 2001, it was found that Wicca, which is what current day
witches call themselves, was the country s fastest growing religion, with 134,000 people,... Show

This was largely meant to discourage people for practicing these villainous acts of treachery. The
bible even goes as straightforward as to say Do not practice divination or sorcery (Leviticus 19:26).
Many other primary and secondary sources cite the bible for their argument, in fact arguments are
largely based around them.
An example of using a bible to prove a point is on a website called Harry Potter Power. It is about
witchcraft in terms modern era literature. Many authors such as JK Rowling have written using
heavily influenced witchcraft in their work, and it is essential to the plot of the book. C.S. Lewis
has similar magical stories, but he does not think witchcraft to be good, or valid. He says, People
all across America are being deluged with books on witchcraft. And the situation is going to get
worse, not better. For witchcraft brings you into contact with demons (Harry Potter Power/destroy).

The Integration Of The Mdgs Into The Indonesia s National...
3.2.The NLTDP, NMTDP and the MDGs
As a reflection of Indonesia s increased willingness to play a cooperative role in the international
arena, the government is becoming increasingly aware of the importance of providing a systematic
data to measure development progress. Although there are many instances where various
international development programs are being incorporated into the national development plan, in
this dissertation I present a case study on the integration of the MDGs into the Indonesia s national
development plan as a specific example where the Indonesian government takes a proactive role in
integrating an international development agenda into its national development plan.
3.2.1.Why MDGs?
Aside from the MDGs being the first comprehensively outlined global development goals that
were agreed by UN member states, the fact that they provide specific indicators illustrate that the
MDGs are able to provide the initial frameworks for developing countries to achieve development
objectives deemed as important by setting specific goals and targeted indicators which statutory
countries have pledged to fulfil by the end of 2015. The multi dimensional nature of what consist
of development as outlined in the MDGs will also enable us to incorporate a more holistic view of
development, as opposed to the traditional interpretation of development that almost exclusively
refers to economic progress.
Furthermore, Indonesia was one of the 189 UN member state signees of the

Critical Appreciation Of Dover Beach
Eternal Note of Elegy A sensitive mind can often feel the essence of The Times more deeply

poem Dover beach sang desperate elegy for the crisis in the whole western civilization. In nature,
Dover beach is a masterpiece recalling with emotion. It starts with a peaceful picture, and ends
with a feeling of reasoning, using a sense of the word. But it is different from traditional feeling
poetry, but it uses some dramatic treatment techniques, in the way of the poet s monologue. The
dramatic scene in the poem is the night of the moon, in a house on Dover s seashore, where people
sail across the English Channel to French ports. The poem started when the tidewas full, and the sea
was calm, and everything seemed so quiet under the moonlight. Such good night is a perfect time
for the lovers to date. So, the poet could not help but telling his lover, Come to the window, how
sweet the evening breeze is! But then came the waves at low tide from the gravel. It gently and
repeatedly chanted the beat, recalled the poet endless thoughts, turning the scenery into lyrical

A simple sentence such as I can get through this day. or I can become president. turns into the driving factor that helps us reach our destination. We all have used the I can statement and American Eagle has taken that statement to the next level in their #WeAllCan Campaign. The minute long video features a cast of celebrities in different settings throughout New York like Coney Island wearing a casual style of clothing. Black and white scenes intertwine with color scenes throughout the video, with even a vintage style of film shown. Through the credibility of the cast, the American Eagle Campaign effectively appeals to a target audience of millennials. The campaign uses pathos to create a cause of individuality and speaking out, but only uses those celebrities in a stereotypical way to sell the brand of clothes. This advertisement features a group of well known millennials from our generation that give an immense amount of credibility to the commercial. It has role models of social media, music, television, and the fashion industry. Some actors that appear frequently are Troye Sivan, an out of the closet gay musician, Hailee Steinfeld, famous actor of Blackish, and Cody Christian, the recurring actor from Pretty Little Liars. • 3. Young And Immature In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet Romeo and Juliet, the star crossed lovers , do not have real love at all (Shakespeare). They are too young to have true love, instead it is just based off looks. If they are older they might understand what love really is. Since they are young and immature they rush into decisions they make. They also take drastic measures in the decisions and how to handle themselves. They are young and immature, and this is why their story ends the way it does, in complete tragedy. Romeo loves with his eyes, but he does not love with his heart. He is too immature to stay true to one girl if there is another girl that is more beautiful. When Romeo tells Friar Laurence . . . but this i pray, / That thou consent to marry us today Friar knows it is very immature, but only does it to possibly end the feud between the families (II, iii, 63 64). They could be mature and wait things out to see if them loving each other would work, but instead they just get married. If they would just wait to find a good time to maybe talk to their parents about it, that would be the mature thing to do. Romeo also has immaturity not in love, but in revenge. After Tybalt kills Mercutio, Romeo immaturely goes and gets Tybalt. Most of us would do this, but it is still immature. Romeo should just wait for the Prince to give Tybalt his punishment and everything would be fine. Instead Romeo goes and kills Tybalt, and puts his own life in jeopardy. • 5. The Role of Sacred Space in Judeo-Christian Religions The Role of Sacred Space in Judeo Christian Religions Certain physical locations take on important meanings in the world s religions. Religions consider various geographic elements such as different cities, regions, mountains, and rivers to be sacred. For example, Hindus travel to the Ganges River to cleanse themselves from their sins (Momen 157). One of the requirements of all Muslims is that they make a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca (Eastman 398). Judeo Christian religions also have certain places that are held sacred to their followers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the current knowledge of humans, these matters cannot be adequately explained. Furthermore, these ideas cannot be expressed with current human language (Barbour 90). To compensate for the inability to explain the unexplainable and the lack of sufficient answers to life s questions, Judeo Christian religions tend to employ tangible phenomena as much as possible. The concept of sacred space is important to religions, because it offers a tangible representation of the religion for its believers. This can help to humanize the supernatural and the concept of spirituality. Sacred space helps to provide a structure for religions, as it closes the gaps of understanding of concepts that are difficult to grasp with human understanding. Judeo Christian religions employ the concept of location as a storytelling tool. Stories help to explain intangible concepts, and the use of specific places in biblical stories helps to concretize these concepts. In the story of Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden is described as a beautiful place. In the center of the garden are the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Gen. 2.8 3.24 NAB). This story utilizes tangible elements to represent deeper meanings. The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil symbolizes the Lord s omnipotence. When Eve eats from this tree, it represents humanity s sinful desire to be like God. In the New Testament, the story ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This date alone is interesting because previous estimates for the origin of polar bears have ranged from 70,000 to more than a million years ago. When they came to Betsy Ross, George Washington and his committee had originally chosen a six pointed star for the flag, but the six pointed star was the English rule (Tonn 18). Betsy convinced them to use the design of a five pointed star, which was the French rule. The committee of men who came to Betsy Ross were Robert Morris and Colonel Ross. The Extraordinary and Inspirational Beauty of a Thangka I chose to do my research paper on the colorful and extraordinarily detailed mural titled Dhrtarastra (Dharma King of the East Direction) with 16 Attendants by Shashi Dhoj Tulachand. Shashi is also known as Guru Nawang Chhogyall Tenzin is a 69 year old spiritual leader of the Chhairo gompa, a branch of Tibetan Buddhismfrom Tuksche, a remote village located in Mustang, Nepal s northernmost district, adjacent to Tibet. He is a master in Buddhist thangka painting who is committed to re establishing the lost teaching tradition of Chhairo gompa. Shashi comes from a long line of Buddhist artists, his father Kamal Dhoj Tulachan, and grandfather were responsible for many wall paintings and statues to be found in gompas, chortens and private household shrines in the villages of the Thak Kola and the upper Kali Gandaki area. He began his artistic lifestyle at the young age of nine assisting his father and older brother Krsna Dhoj Tulachan and accompanying them to villages around Mustang. By the age of 18 he had begun his first solo project to paint the Mani Lha K an of Gemi village, Mustang. Numerous Tibetan Buddhist monks are not necessarily trained, but have practiced Buddhism and cohesive art techniques for most of their lives. The art pieces they made have been used to hold peace and love in these towns. It is not only a form of art, but a wonderful spiritual practice that relies on patience and true appreciation. Thangkas can last a long time, but because of their delicate nature, they have to be kept in dry places where moisture will not affect the quality of the silk. Now that he has died, she is considering using the money to support the activities of the local Hunger Task Force, an organization that provides donated food to those who need it. What should Martha do? My position from a Kantian perspective is that Martha should give the money to the Society for Protection against Alien Control of the Earth (SPACE) because of the agreement Martha made with George before he died. I shall present arguments to support my position from a Kantian perspective by setting the precedence demonstrated by Kant as is evidence in duty and moral obligation. I will also present arguments to refute the utilitarian position that Martha should use the money to support the activities of the local Hunger Task Force, an organization that provides donated food to those who need it. As well as the arguments present by Kants catergorical imperative. Kant ascribes Duty means that we should never act in any way that we wouldn t want the principle we act on to be a universal law. The style of this painting is Neo Dada, a movement with audio, visual and literary manifestations that had similarities in method or intent with earlier Dada artwork. Asger Jorn played a massive role in this movement. The title refers to a fairy tale by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersencalled The Ugly Duckling. The story is about a duckling that is born in a corral and who suffers abuse from his surroundings until, much to his delight and the surprise of others, matures into a beautiful swan, the most beautiful bird of all. The Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act ( Ppaca ) With the establishment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), more and more Americans are able to have access to the healthcare, but roadblocks have occurred in the road to get there. After the signing of the bill into law, about 26 states filed a lawsuit in the setting of a federal court. This was done to challenge the constitutionality of the individual mandate (individuals must possess a minimum level of health insuranceor face financial penalties) and the Medicaid expansion (individuals earning less than 133% of the poverty level baseline are eligible for Medicaid). The Medicare expansion is optional, however, as of current, all the states are participating in it. The federal court had decided to determine is the two provisions of the bill were unconstitutional or not and if it is right for other courts to rule on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act. On the basis of this, the Supreme Courtdecided that the individual mandate is a constitutional exercise of Congress to lay tax plans out. This decision was unexpected by many, as lower courts believed the opposite of the mandate. The court ruled in favor on the basis of three factors, which were Americans eventually have to pay less for the penalties rather than the price of insurance, the mandate provision does not turn on an individual if they do not purchase insurance and it does prohibit the IRS from collecting the payments through punitive means such as criminal prosecution. • 18. The Most Important Importance Of Plants In Our Society The importance of plants is often overlooked by the general public. They don t realize when they eat, wear, or build something that none of it would be possible without plants. Complex life itself only exists thanks to the evolution of plants. Throughout this essay, I hope to highlight some of the most important aspects of plants including their ecological roles, historical roles, source of food, medicinal uses, spices, erosion control, soilcontribution, and many others. The list of plant importance could go on and on forever, but these seem to play the most pertinent role in our society. Plants provide many products that benefit other organisms and their environments. Perhaps one of the most important roles of the plant is photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process by which light energy is converted into a usable form. Of this energy obtained by the plant, ten percent is passed on through each level of the trophic chain, and the rest is given off as heat. This theory is known as the 10% Law. The process of photosynthesis also consumes carbon dioxide, and releases oxygen as a byproduct. This is arguably one of the most important functions of plants, because oxygen is such a vital ingredient to life on Earth. With their oxygen producing capabilities, plants have been coined as, The Lungs of the Earth . Another benefit that plants provide to their ecosystems that has only been discovered since an increase in human pollution is their detoxification potential. Many plants ... One instance where physicians were unwilling to allow their patients to use Native medicine was while the patient is in the hospital, because the physician could be held legally responsible for any treatment administered while admitted under their care. There is also the problem of differentiating between legitimate Native healing practitioners and those who would take advantage of anyone not aware of the proper rituals and techniques that need to be performed (Zubek, 1994, p. 1929). • 21. Importance Of Proofs Of Teaching Mathematical Proofs For many math students around the world, proofs are dreaded; they are seen as pointless memorization of obvious ideas. These are most student s beliefs because they have never truly been taught or experienced the true purposes of proofs. Zaslavsky, Nickerson, Stylianides, Kidron, and Winicki Landman (2012) write to discuss the importance of teaching mathematical proofs in school. They continue on to express reasons why students need proofs and the multiple ways in which teachers can facilitate the learning and importance of proofs to their students. Zaslavsky et al. (2012) cite numerous reasons for the importance of proofs, but the most prominent reasons include strengthening student s ability to communicate mathematical knowledge, to instill problem solving skills and methods, and lastly, to fulfill human intellectual needs. Each of these reasons have been supported by research, and also come with challenges and concerns. The most basic reason Zaslavsky et al. (2012) cite as to why proofs should be taught in school is because doing so can increase and strengthen student s abilities to communicate mathematical knowledge. Most students are more than capable of applying formulas and solving the problems presented to them in classes with a little practice. Spain played a particularly large role during the early years of the nation, with England and France also attempting to impose their will upon the Dutch. Victories against the Spaniards in the decades following 1587 claimed many lands and helped to separate the Dutch as an independently governed nation. Recognition by the English and French of Holland as individual also helped this cause. From 1621 1648 the Dutch were once again at war with Spain. At the onset of this war, the outcome did not look well for the Netherlands, as Spain had captured Breda, an important fortress in the south. Following this, however, the Dutch began to take back key pieces of land in the south and had several pivotal naval victories against the Spanish. Included in these naval victories were Piet Heyn s celebrated capture of the Spanish silver fleet, off the coast of Cuba, and the destruction of a Spanish fleet in the Downs, off the English coast (Michael J. Wintle, n.d.). Following the signing of a treaty in 1648, the Spaniards now formally recognized the Netherlands as an independent state. The Dutch once again experienced naval success in the 1670s against French forces. This time, the Netherlands succeeded in driving away France, and pushing England out of its territories. Biopsychosocial Factors Of Mental Health And Occupations Mental Health and Occupations Aspasia Manettas Mercy College October 2017 Abstract Two types of medical interviews are the biomedical approach, involving only biological factors, and the biopsychosocial approach that includes both psychosocial factors and biological factors. Because of the psychosocial factors in the latter approach, the medical practitioner can build a bond with the patient and treat them as a whole. Social factors such as a patient s occupation play a huge role in mental health. Occupations can cause stress on someone s body and mind, leading to mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Knowing patients on a more personal level can strengthen the outcome of their diagnosis and treatment. There are two model approaches to patient interviewing in the medical field. The biomedical interview approach, and the biopsychosocial interview approach. The biomedical approach focuses only on the biological effects on health and medicine. This approach is faster and sees a higher quantity of patients. According to Science The Need for a New Medical Model: A Challenge for Biomedicine, the biomedical model, ...assumes disease to be fully accounted for by deviations from the norm of measurable biological (somatic) variables (Engel 130). The biopsychosocial approach, on the other hand, focuses not only on the biological effects, but also the psychological and social effects on health and medicine as well. This approach digs deeper into the patient s history, uses more variables, and finds the source of the problem and solves it. Networking allows for many possibilities, such as accessing the internet, file sharing, file transferring and system communication. Throughout this assignment I will be attempting to provide information to facilitate the introduction of a new computer networklinking all of IT D s premises. In order to do this I intend to analyse the options available to assess which one, in my opinion is their best option in terms of both network system and topologies. Networking System Types There are two types of networks; peer to peer and client server. I will discuss both networks in detail before explaining which network I believe would work best for IT D s. Peer to peer (p2p) A peer to peer (P2P) network is created when two or more PCs are connected and share resources without going through a separate server computer. This is a special kind of network type ( Network topology ). It describes computers that are networked to each other without a central server being in between. Peer to Peer networks are very popular with people who want to share files directly with one another. The files do not have to be stored on a central server. Software has been developed that can even put together a file from bits of the file stored across several peers on the network. For example Torrent programmes can do this. The advantage is that no single computer needs to be over loaded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Literary Analysis Of The Turn Of The Screw Gothic horror has been an interest to many people for centuries. It first peaked around the 1790 s. It is a stylistic genre of horror that uses a set of characteristics to cause a sense of fear in the audience or readers. The Turn of the Screw, by Henry James, who also wrote his story in 1898 during the Victorian area, uses gothic horror conventions to reflect the complexity of the human psyche which, leaves the audience with a sense of ambiguity, or fear of the unknown. The Turn of the Screw is a great short storythat uses rhetorical and literary devices to express a ghost story. The story involves a governess who becomes obsessed with the idea of trying to prove that there are ghosts in the household, while also trying to do her job of protecting the children. She often encounters two ghosts that she believes are trying to corrupt her pupils, and are also communicating with them without her knowing. Henry Jamesuses his story to invoke the fears of the Victorian era; fears of which include the corruption of children, potential evil, and the reliability of a governess in a household. In our world, people are often asking themselves if they can ever trust having someone entering their home. In The Turn of the Screw, Henry James uses the fear of reliability to trigger the audience s fear of trusting someone into their home. For example, in his short story, the governess questions what happened to the previous governess. Mrs. Grose then proceeds to state, The last governess? She was also young and pretty almost as young and almost as pretty, Miss, even as you, (James 130). Mrs. Grose implies that there was an affair and because of it, the previous governess is no longer there. It can later be seen that Mrs. Grose is suggesting that the current governess may cause trouble and end up being in the same position as the previous governess; especially when Mrs. Grose says, ...almost as young and almost as pretty, Miss, even as you, (James 130). The audience then becomes fearful and more cautious of their choices because they wouldn t want this situation to occur to them. More than one in every ten babies is born too early. Preterm birth complications are the leading cause of death among children under five years of age. Premature birth has a wide range of effects. All babies born before thirty seven weeks gestation are at risk for complications that can have a lasting effect on the growing baby and family. At twenty four weeks, the survival rate of a premature baby is only fifty percent. The many different causes and effects that premature birth can have on the baby, his/her future development and family will be further discussed in this paper. At birth a baby is considered one of the following: Premature (less than thirty seven weeks gestation), Full term (thirty seven to forty two weeks gestation), Post term (born after forty two weeks gestation) (Kaneshiro). A premature baby is not fully developed due to exiting the womb prior to reaching full term. Due to this complication, premies will spend time in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) if the doctor deems it necessary.
