Energy efficiency projects are often derailed by legitimate concerns regarding financial risk. Will the initial capex outlay be offset by future opex savings? And how well will new energy efficient equipment and systems perform over time? At Optimum Energy, we take these questions seriously, and we've developed an approach for minimizing risk: the three laws of optimization. This presentation gives an overview of the three laws and how they form a foundation for managing financial risk.

Comparitive analysis of doa and beamforming algorithms for smart antenna systemseSAT Journals
Abstract This paper revolves around the implementation of Direction of arrival and Adaptive beam-forming algorithms for Smart Antenna Systems. This paper also investigates the implementation of algorithms on various planner array geometries viz. circular and rectangular. Music algorithm is primarily finds the possible location of desired user and adaptive beam-forming algorithms such as LMS, RLS and CMA algorithms adapts the weights of the array. DOA estimation gives the maximum peak of spectrum with respect to angle of arrival where the desired user is supposed to exist. After DOA estimation weights of array antenna are changed with the changing received signal. This methodology is called as Spectral estimation, which allows the antenna pattern to steer in desired direction estimated by DOA and simultaneously null out the interfering signals. Rate of convergence is the major criterion for comparison for adaptive beam-forming algorithms. Keywords: DOA, MUSIC, LMS, RLS, CMA, SAS.
These slides use concepts from my (Jeff Funk) course entitled analyzing hi-tech opportunities to analyze how transparent electronics are becoming economic feasible. Transparent electronics can turn windows into displays and solar cells and enable more aesthetically pleasing designs. Home, car, and office windows can be used to display information or absorb solar energy. The former is also applicable to contact lenses and glasses. Transparent electronics can also enable new forms of designs such as transparent phones, appliances, and monitors. Improvements in transparent conductive films such as indium tin oxides, other forms of oxides, and graphene enable these transparent displays.

Image Inpainting refers to restoring a damaged image in such a manner that manipulation and modification in an image is not recognizable by the observer. In this paper we have simulated and compared results of two different existing algorithms that are based on convolution as given by Oliveira and Hadhoud. The algorithm given by Hadhoud gives faster results but produces strokes in the resultant image while algorithm given by Oliveira is slow but fills the region from all the sides.
A Smart Approach to Number Plate Recognition in Tollgate System using FPGAijsrd.com
This paper reveals about the design and development of smart card for automated toll collection through number plate recognition. Since it is simpler and faster than the traditional token based ticket system, it has all the potential to replace the existing system. Moreover, it saves users valuable time by reducing the queue length in front of the toll counter. It is used to pay the amount automatically and open & close the toll gate automatically. We aim to reduce the time consumed to pay the toll gate amount and also to help the police department to trace the vehicle, incase if it was stolen or used for any illegal activities. As well as we are going to increase the security features in the toll gate because now a day's toll gate are the entrance to the main cities. If the Vehicle passed before paying the money the buzzer will automatically ring & the alert will be given to the police also. If any vehicle carries suspicious gas means the buzzer will ring so improved security than the existing systems. The entire system is developed as hardware based system using SPARTAN3 FPGA kit and associated devices. The software for this system has been developed using VHDL language developed in the Xilinx tool.
Automated signal pre-emption system for emergency vehicles using internet of ...IAESIJAI
Vehicle administration systems are one of the major highlights especially in urban areas. One important critical component that requires attention are signal preemption systems. Every single work on traffic congestion identification either requires prior learning or long time to distinguish and perceive the closeness of congestion. FutureSight performs predictive analysis and control of traffic signals through the application of machine learning to aide ambulances in such a way that, a signal turns green beforehand so as to ensure an obstacle free path to the ambulance from source to destination based on various parameters such as traffic density, congestion length, previous wait times, arrival time thereby eliminating the need for human intervention. The method allows flexible interface to the driver to enter the hospital details to reach the destination with in time. The app then plans out the fastest route from the pickup spot to the selected hospital and sends this route to the system. The system then predict the amount of time that is required by the signal to remain green so as to clear all traffic at that specific junction before the ambulance arrives at that location.
Smart Parking systems typically obtains information about available parking spaces in a particular geographic area and process is real-time to place vehicles at available positions .It involves using low-cost sensors, real-time data collection, and mobile-phone-enabled automated payment systems that allow people to reserve parking in advance or very accurately predict where they will likely find a spot.
Traffic Light Controller System using Optical Flow EstimationEditor IJCATR
As we seen everyday vehicle traffic increases day by day on road is causing many issues. We face many traffic jams due to the inefficient traffic controlling system which is unable to cope up with the current scenario of traffic in our country. To overcome such drastic scenario and looking at current traffic volume we need to develop a system which works on real time processing and works after determining the traffic density and then calculating the best possibility in which the traffic on particular cross road is dissolved. Also, it helps in saving time as on traffic roads. In present traffic control system when there is no traffic on road but the static signal not allow traffic to move to cross and it changes after at fixed interval so at every cycle this amount of time is wasted for unused traffic density road and if one road is at high traffic it continuously grows till human intervention. The basic theme is to control the traffic using static cameras fixed on right side of the road along top of the traffic pole to check the complete traffic density on other side of the road. This system will calculate number of vehicles on the road by moving detection and tracking system developed based on optical flow estimation and green light counter will be based on the calculated number of vehicles on the road.
Online Accessable Traffic Control System for Urban Areas Using Embedded Syste...IJSRD
During recent years traffic congestion is become a serious problem in almost all cities. Due to the high density of traffic, pedestrians find it difficult to cross the road. Even though several advanced strategic plans are introduced to regulate the traffic but due to lack of provision for on- road pedestrian crossing, rate of accidents become very high. One such provision is given is elevated path for pedestrian to cross the road, but the elderly person finds it difficult to use that. Hence an idea is proposed to help the elderly people by giving provision for on- road pedestrian crossing in high density traffic areas like near schools, hospitals, markets, etc. which reduces the accidents rate also. To implement this, here an additional time delay is introduced in the traffic signal for pedestrian crossing in addition to vehicle crossing in all possible direction. Additionally, provision is given to track the vehicle which violates the traffic rules and to clear the traffic for emergency vehicles. All the above said three parameters can be simulated by using PROTEUS software.
With increasing vehicle size in the luxury segment and crunching parking space, traffic congestion is increasingly becoming an alarming concern in almost all major cities around the world. Burning about a million barrels of the world’s oil every day, and considering cities are turning urban without a well-planned, convenience-driven retreat from the cars, these problems will only worsen.
Smart Parking systems is one of the latest disruptive technologies that help address this problem by generating real time contextual information about the available parking spaces particular geographical area to accommodate vehicles low-cost sensors, mobility-enabled automated payment systems, real-time data collection, Smart Parking systems is designed to aid drivers to precisely find a spot.
What’s more, Smart Parking also minimizes emissions from vehicle in urban centers when deployed as a system by decreasing the dependency of people; unnecessarily circling the blocks trying to identify parking space. Apart from this green cause, by employing a host of technologies such as M2M telematics, Smart Parking helps resolve one of the biggest problems when driving around in urban areas – which is illegal parking and identifying free parking space.
Implementation of Fuzzy Logic with High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) fo...cscpconf
In Automobile Industries, to use of High Security Registration plate (HSRP) is still a
challenging problem. There are more options to misuse the vehicle and exchange its engine,
chassis, gear box, axle etc., In an existing system, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) only
determine an abstract of the vehicle and its owner. The vehicles are classified using piezo
sensor and inductive loop systems. The toll-plaza is used only collected fees from the vehicles
for maintain the quality roads. There are no authorized agencies allotted to identify the vehicle
checking and no possibilities to control the vehicle overloading. The proposed system, toll-plaza
will be act as a multi-plaza. Vehicles are classified with weight and speed. Then it is checking in
toll-plaza either passed or checked. In this paper, The system uses illumination (such as Infrared)
and a camera to take the image of the front or rear of the vehicle, then an extracts the plate
information. This data is used for enforcement and it can be used to open a gate if the vehicle is
checked with RTO data in toll-plaza. In vehicle checking, we develop new rules using a fuzzy
logic to improve the performance. The features of this system are implemented in the upgrading
vehicles only. It is used to control the overloading to maintain road safety and to identify the
theft vehicle to reduce the crime and terrorism. As Bharat Stage Emission (BSE) standard
vehicles are implemented in India very aggressively. The emission standard vehicles are
serviced only in authorized service centre not for doing and end root machines.
Smart Car Parking system using GSM Technologydbpublications
In this paper, we present PGS, a Parking Guidance System based on wireless sensor network(WSN) which guides a driver to an available parking lot. The system consists of a WSN based VDS (vehicle detection sub-system) and a management subsystem. The WSN based VDS gathers information on the availability of each parking lot and the management sub-system processes the information and refines them and guides the driver to the available parking lot by controlling a VMS (Variable Messaging System). The paper describes the overall system architecture of PGS from the hardware platform to the application software in the view point of a WSN. We implemented the WSN based VDS of PGS and experimented on the system with several kinds of cars.

However, the not so good news is that many still approach digital as “nice” or “cool to have” rather than treating it as an important aspect for business. Digital is no longer good to have: either be digital or be extinct – there is simply no other option.
