Emi Choraria chose to study social, mobile, analytics, and cloud (SMAC) because these fields have powerful effects when used together that are greater than their individual impacts. Specifically, social media data can be managed through cloud computing and analyzed for valuable insights. The author believes SMAC will become even more important in the next 5 years as businesses, governments, education, healthcare and other sectors implement customized SMAC-based models to improve products, services, and processes. However, ensuring data security and privacy will be important challenges to address as flexibility increases. The author wants to work on adapting SMAC for different industries and sectors to help organizations innovate more effectively.

2. Why did I choose this topic?
 Social media, Mobile Technology, Analytics and Cloud
Computing are fields that were developed individually. Each
were develop to cater to specific needs and each have
been successful in their own arenas.
 But in current age, the effect produced when using the four
together is unsurpassed; provided the use is efficient. I
chose this topic to learn more on the effective use of
harnessing the four together for betterment of products and
services in terms of quality, consumer base, consumer
satisfaction and more to stay ahead in the market or develop
on the emerging market. How well these four different fields
converge to one with perfect sync as though they were
developed as a single package to begin with interests me;
especially in the many different implementation methods of
the whole concept.

3.  The volume of digital content is increasing rapidly. It is
the result of the vast amount to information fed everyday,
new data or the digitized version of old data. The
information ranges from the data collected while using a
particular service, voluntary feeding of data by the
consumer through personal devices, storing of data by
the organizations for their book keeping and many more.
Especially the information flowing in from social medias is
vast and vital. It has a huge potential to be used in
analytics. The social media popularized especially by the
emergence of personal mobile devices can be made
manageable by the help of cloud computing.
 I believe the importance of SMAC will grow rapidly,
especially because the rate at which information spreads
today is several magnitudes greater compared to the pre-
internet era.

4. Where do I see SMAC in next 5 years?
 Today there are many business model comparisons
made between major corporate giants that used to be
leader in their market before SMAC and the leaders of the
market today using SMAC. SMAC was not a separate
concept to begin with; when different technologies were
developed companies simply worked on model that uses
the available technologies to their advantage. Now the
whole package has been identified and named as SMAC.

5.  The existing companies are working on new revolutionary
business model based on SMAC and new organizations
are building the foundations of their business model with
SMAC.
 However, it won’t be just the businesses that will use
SMAC for their development. Any other organization has
the potential to tap SMAC as a core part of their system.
Many have realized this and are working towards it. For
e.g., governments of developed nations use social media
to interact with the citizens, mobile technologies to provide
services on the fingertips, analytics to study and monitor
the activities of the society (by the vast amount of
information collected and processed)and finally cloud
computing to store the vast amount of interrelated
information in a common place for proper book keeping
and freedom to access anytime from anywhere.

6.  Similarly, education, health, and many more are the
sectors which can benefit and improve largely by using
SMAC. With SMAC, any kind of product or service can be
highly customized and hence increase in the
effectiveness of the whole process. Hence not just the
actual use, SMAC will also be a popularized marketing
term in the near future.
 Nevertheless there are loopholes and drawbacks that
need to be tackled to prefect the SMAC concept. To name
a few would be data security, consumer privacy and so
on. The flexibility gained by SMAC model use should be
well-controlled to prevent misuse and loss of important
data.

7. Conclusion: What would I want to work
on?
 Many organizations have started to expose themselves to
few of the following- Social Media, Mobile Technology,
Analytics and Cloud Computing. But have not utilized them
in correlation and as a whole as SMAC. These
organizations will realize the potential of SMAC once they
understand the ways in which their business models can be
revolutionized with SMAC. I would like to work on
customizing the concept of SMAC for different sectors for
their implementation of a business model based on SMAC.
How the industries can reduce the efforts and costs in
sections to redirect it towards investing more in innovation.
There is a lot I want to learn about SMAC and I would love
to grab an opportunity to expose myself.
