Threat Modeling Overview
This session will cover the basic elements of threat modeling, looking at what it does and why it is important. The goal is to provide a high level overview of the process and the use of things like data flow diagrams to look for trust boundaries attacks may come across. We will go through some common threats and hopefully a list of dangers to watch out for when carrying out threat modeling. The session will then work to interactively develop a flow diagram of Amazon.com and possibly another subject if we have time. This will all be based on looking at the system as a user, without any insider knowledge, though Threat Modeling is normally carried out by those who do know the system well.
According to Cisco’s 2018 Cyber security automation Study, organizations overwhelmingly favor specialized tools to get the most robust capabilities across their environment. The more disparate technology a SOC uses, the greater the need for security orchestration and automation platform to help tie everything together.

Gaining Your STRIDE – Applying S.T.R.I.D.E. to a system
This session is a continuation of Part 1 and will briefly look at the components of the STRIDE model often used as a part of threat modeling. These are Spoofing, Tampering, Repudiation, Information Disclosure, Denial of Service, Elevation of Privilege. We will then seek to work to find out what threats Amazon.com might face using the diagram we developed in the previous session. This session will expect those present to be involved in raising potential risks. Other systems may also be covered if we have time remaining in the session.
Use of Amazon.com is the only likely experience of most participants, but even that is not required. The goal is to work with something everyone can relate to, not to expose insider information for a specific company.

As delusions of effective risk management for application environments continue to spread, companies continue to bleed large amounts of security spending without truly knowing if the amount is warranted, effective, or even elevating security at all. In parallel, hybrid, thought-provoking security strategies are moving beyond conceptual ideas to practical applications within ripe environments. Application Threat Modeling is one of those areas that, beyond the hype, provides practical and sensible security strategy that leverages already existing security efforts for an improved threat model of what is lurking in the shadows.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Network Security.pdfCareerera
The world is abuzz with innovations to harness the power of global IT. Network security is one such invention contrived for the cyber and digital world that is woven by the web of the internet of things. Network Security covers many applications, including devices, processes, and technology. To put it in the most basic terms, it implies a set of rules and regulations employing both software and hardware technologies with the objective to safeguard the fundamental principles of cyber security - Confidentiality, Integrity, and Accessibility. There is a need for network security in every organization cutting across variance of sectors regardless of their size and structure. The principal motive is to secure the organization. Securing your network is what network security is all about. Private networks, like those within a firm, can be private or public. Preventing any misuse or illegal access to the network or its resources is part of network security. To access data relevant to them, each user is given a unique user ID and password. No user is allowed to enter the network without this authentication. The network administrator is in charge of the network's operations. As with any technical area, there are advantages and disadvantages of Network Security. We will learn all about them today here in this post.
Advantages of Network Security
Keep your data safe previously stated, network security prevents illegal access. A network holds a lot of sensitive information, such as personal customer information. Anyone who gains access to the network could jeopardize this critical information. As a result, network security should be in place to safeguard them. Protects against cyber-attacks the internet is the source of the majority of network attacks. There are professionals in this field, and then there are virus attacks. They can play with a lot of information available in the network if they aren't careful. Computers will not be harmed as a result of these attacks if network protection is in place. Accessibility levels different users have different levels of access to the security software. After the user's authentication, the authorization approach is used to determine whether the user is authorized to access a specific resource. You may have noticed that some shared documents have been password-restricted for security reasons. The software clearly understands who has access to which resources. Centrally Controlled Network security software, unlike desktop security software, is managed by a single user known as the network administrator. While the former is vulnerable to worms and viruses, the latter can prevent hackers from causing damage. This is due to the software being installed on a machine that does not have access to the internet. Updates from a central location are critical that anti-virus software be updated on a regular basis. You may not have enough security against attackers if you are using an older version.

http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2. The new era of digitization has made cybercrime
more complex and sophisticated. Every business
sector has suffered from attacks, data thefts, and
system breaches. Cybersecurity has become an
obvious priority. More and more organizations are
focused on hiring employees with proven network
security skills to mitigate cybersecurity attacks
and hasten recovery endeavors.
3. Importance of Network Security
Network security jobs are essential because they
raise security procedures/policies that prevent
unapproved users from penetrating organizations’
defense systems. Network security specialists
constantly monitor security systems and
implement extra layers of protection to network
systems. In short, it increases the overall security
of the organization’s computer networks.
4. Important Skills Required
for Network Security Jobs
If you want to make your network security training
easy, you need to hone specific skills. One of the
reasons employers can’t find enough talents with
computer security skills is that there aren’t enough
tech professionals who have mastered the
mandatory skills. Network security officers who
took advantage of this opportunity are now
earning lucrative salaries.
5. 5 Network Security Skills
Network security jobs are easier for professionals who have prior
expertise with network or IT administration. Working as a network
admin gives you an understanding of everything you need to figure
out defects or a potential attack point. You will also complete your
network security certification faster.
Network/IT Administration Training
You must be able to assess security policies to prevent, protect, and
mitigate existing and potential network security threats and
weaknesses.
6. Incidence Response
Incidence response helps you detect threats promptly. It is also
an important part of almost all the top cybersecurity courses.
This skill prepares you to come up with an adequate response
to mitigate the impact of an attack. With incidence response
skills, you’ll be able to preserve detailed records of security
checks and incident response pursuits. You’ll also be able to
assist with communicating with staff about possible cyber
threats and propose remedial actions. This skill helps you
design and implement SOPs such as Firewall Installation
Guidelines, Incident Response, and Firewall Change
Procedures.
7. Technical Aptitude
Network security is a technology-focused job
profile. A network defense officer should know
about troubleshooting, maintaining, and updating
information security systems. You will acquire
these essential skills during your job as a
network admin, and it will help you move further
during the certification program faster than your
peers.
8. Knowledge of Hardware Usage
Your network security journey would be more effective when
you understand how specific tools work. Today, several
businesses adopt the “set-it-and-forget-it style since they
lack the expertise on how to operate the network security
tools. Adequate hardware-based network security skills will
make you one of the top picks in a recruitment process if
you know how to apply novel hardware and upgrade the
present hardware on different workstations.
9. Project Management
Project management skills are constantly in high demand in
the IT field. Even more valuable are project managers that
focus on handling security projects. A domain that used to
be the duty of network administrators and system admin
has now progressed into a more specialized responsibility.
You need security-based project management skills to
facilitate your network security training.
