How To Achieve Single Pane of Glass Performance Management: A Road Map to Uni...eG Innovations
Achieving a single pane of glass for performance management has been an elusive goal, as organizations are faced with an increasingly complex mix of legacy, virtual and cloud technologies, as well as emerging operating models and evolving roles/skillsets.
But, monitoring the performance of digital business services demands more than visibility to just the end user experience, applications, or the underlying infrastructure. It requires an ability to automatically anticipate and isolate performance issues across a heterogeneous mix of technologies, devices and suppliers.
Digital business services are how end users experience IT, and that is how IT services must be managed. Achieving unified performance management will continue to be elusive until all stakeholders are aligned with this approach.
Watch this presentation by John Worthington, Director of Product Marketing at eG innovations, where he details some best practices for achieving the single pane of glass vision.
In this webinar, you will:
• Learn how monitoring can be leveraged in continuous improvement and other transformative change programs
• See how converged APM/IPM can accelerate achievement of a single point of glass for performance monitoring
• Identify some best practices you can apply for achieving unified monitoring and improving organizational transparency

Since Google's inception of the term SRE, companies across the world have adopted a new operations mindset along with automation, deployment and monitoring principals. Most of what SRE does now is well established throughout the industry, so what is the next-wave of reliability principals and automation frameworks?
This session will dive into what the future holds for reliability engineering as a field and what will be the next areas of investment and improvement for reliability teams.
Digital transformation in the manufacturing industryBenji Harrison
Industry 4.0 is here. It is all about the fourth industrial revolution which is all set to transform the manufacturing process using advanced capabilities and IT solutions for manufacturing such as smart sensors and actuators. As a result, manufacturers are gaining benefits from increased visibility into operations, cost minimization, quicker production times and provide excellent customer support. The only way manufacturers can take a leap ahead of competitors and win market share and embrace the latest in growth-driven Industry 4.0 technologies. Right from Enterprise Mobility Solutions to emerging technologies, digital transformation is critical to building and executing growth strategies for manufacturing.
Getting started with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)Abeer R
"Getting started with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): A guide to improving systems reliability at production"
This is an intro guide to share some of the common concepts of SRE to a non-technical audience. We will look at both technical and organizational changes that should be adopted to increase operational efficiency, ultimately benefiting for global optimizations - such as minimize downtime, improve systems architecture & infrastructure:
- improving incident response
- Defining error budgets
- Better monitoring of systems
- Getting the best out of systems alerting
- Eliminating manual, repetitive actions (toils) by automation
- Designing better on-call shifts/rotations
How to design the role of the Site Reliability Engineer (who effectively works between application development teams and operations support teams)
Many of today's business-critical applications and services are running on heterogeneous server platforms. Most enterprise have a mix of UNIX servers running Oracle Solaris, IBM AIX, Red Hat Linux, HPUX, Novell SuSE Linux, CentOS or Free BSD and Microsoft Windows servers. As applications and IT infrastructures are getting more complex and interconnected, performance issues anywhere in the IT infrastructure can quickly cascade and negatively impact end user experience.
Watch this webinar to see how next-generation performance monitoring & analytics provides deep visibility into UNIX and Windows environments to accelerate the diagnosis of application and server performance issues, and quickly restore user experience. During the live demonstration, we will show you how to:
• Have a single unified monitoring solution that addresses your server & application monitoring, diagnosis, analytics, and reporting needs;
• Use intelligent analytics to analyze and correlate performance inside the server and across the tiers of your IT environment to provide unparalleled speed & ease of proactive alerting, diagnosis & analysis;
• View best-in-class customizable dashboards that integrate server performance metrics to provide real-time role-based and domain-based views on user experience, system and service health, resource consumption, capacity and more;
• Report on historical performance and trends and analyze usage patterns to right-size and optimize your IT infrastructure for maximum ROI;
The modern IT stack has become diverse and distributed, and it’s increasingly challenging to manage heterogeneous platforms and multi-vendor devices. Customers are looking to the cloud and APM to help address these hurdles, as well as accelerate IT transformation.
But migrating to the cloud will take time, it won’t make infrastructure ‘just disappear’, and legacy workloads are going to remain part of the enterprise reality for many. In addition, while APM will continue to be increasingly important, all applications are not the same and an application is still not equal to a digital business service.
Watch this webinar as John Worthington, a service management expert and Director of Product Marketing for eG Innovations, continues our Shift-Left series. You can learn:
• Why domain expertise is important when defining monitoring requirements
• What analytics are useful from a monitoring and observability context
• How end-to-end monitoring with converged application and infrastructure performance can drive ITSM and DevOps integration

My Application is Slow | Best Practices for Troubleshooting and PreventioneG Innovations
IT performance management isn’t about monitoring CPU, memory or disk space any more. One of the toughest application performance challenges for any IT administrator is when a user says "my application is slow". How to Position Your Globus Data Portal for Success Ten Good PracticesGlobus
Science gateways allow science and engineering communities to access shared data, software, computing services, and instruments. Science gateways have gained a lot of traction in the last twenty years, as evidenced by projects such as the Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) and the Center of Excellence on Science Gateways (SGX3) in the US, The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and its platforms in Australia, and the projects around Virtual Research Environments in Europe. A few mature frameworks have evolved with their different strengths and foci and have been taken up by a larger community such as the Globus Data Portal, Hubzero, Tapis, and Galaxy. However, even when gateways are built on successful frameworks, they continue to face the challenges of ongoing maintenance costs and how to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community they serve with enhanced features. It is not uncommon that gateways with compelling use cases are nonetheless unable to get past the prototype phase and become a full production service, or if they do, they don't survive more than a couple of years. While there is no guaranteed pathway to success, it seems likely that for any gateway there is a need for a strong community and/or solid funding streams to create and sustain its success. With over twenty years of examples to draw from, this presentation goes into detail for ten factors common to successful and enduring gateways that effectively serve as best practices for any new or developing gateway.
