2. Strategy for Swedish support to Russia 2020-
2024
• Environment, climate and energy.
Sida’s support should strengthen the capacity in Russia:
1. sustainable management of natural resources,
biodiversity, reduce emissions to Baltic Sea;
2. combat climate change and phasing out of fossil fuels;
3. civil society and other relevant actors for improved
environment and reduced impact on the climate.
3. Northern Dimension Environmental
Partnership (NDEP)
• Fund established 2002 under EU Northern Dimension policy
• Two windows:
–Nuclear Safety projects – 100% grant funded
–Non nuclear projects – loans and grants
• Primary objective: improve the environment in the Baltic and
Barents Seas Region of the Northern Dimension Area
