Short Story Analysis Essay Example
Crafting a Short Story Analysis Essay Example can prove to be a challenging task, requiring a
delicate balance between literary analysis and creative expression. Firstly, the writer must
thoroughly understand the chosen short story, unraveling its intricacies and uncovering its
underlying themes. This demands a keen eye for detail and an ability to perceive nuances that
might escape the casual reader.
The next hurdle involves constructing a coherent and compelling argument. The essay must not
merely summarize the short story but delve into its depths, examining the characters, plot, and
literary devices employed by the author. This analytical process demands a comprehensive
understanding of literary techniques and the skill to articulate these insights in a clear and
organized manner.
Furthermore, capturing the essence of the short story and conveying its impact on the reader is a
delicate art. Crafting a compelling introduction that hooks the reader, developing a well-
structured body that delves into the story's nuances, and concluding with a thought-provoking
summary requires a nuanced approach to writing.
Additionally, maintaining a balance between objective analysis and subjective interpretation can
be tricky. The essay should not become a mere expression of personal opinions but should be
grounded in evidence from the text. This requires careful navigation between providing evidence
and allowing space for personal interpretation.
Moreover, mastering the art of concise and impactful writing is essential. Given the limited word
count of most essays, every sentence must contribute to the overall argument. Striking the right
balance between brevity and depth of analysis is a continual challenge.
In conclusion, creating a Short Story Analysis Essay Example demands a multifaceted skill set
encompassing literary analysis, critical thinking, and effective communication. It involves a
meticulous exploration of the chosen short story, an ability to construct a coherent argument, and
a talent for expressing complex ideas concisely. Despite its challenges, successfully navigating
this process can be a rewarding endeavor, resulting in a nuanced and insightful exploration of a
literary work.

Argumentative Essay On Blood Tests
Published in the Journal of Neurotrauma on July 10, a new blood test may soon help
emergency room doctors to diagnose a traumatic brain injury and its severity with
greater speed. What benefits may arise from this new practice? First, it could locate
patients who will benefit from experimental treatment and extra therapy. Frederick
Korley, from John Hopkins University School of Medicine, said that compared to
measuring other proteins related to traumatic brain injury, BDNF predicts the outcome
with greater accuracy.
Millions of Americans strikes to the head or whiplash after a car accident, which can
lead to a traumatic brain injury. The severity of the event will range from a mild

What is the advantage of predicting the outcome of TBI? Doctors can advise patients
early, and they can recommend whether or not they need to take time off work. In
addition, they can decide if the person will need followup treatment with a
neurologist.
This is extraordinarily important considering that TBI is a lead cause of disability
and death within the United States. With blood tests accurately identifying if a
patient has suffered from TBI, they can reduce the amount of unnecessary CT scans
by about 30 percent. We have seen a need for an accurate and faster screening tool.
Coupled with a CT scan, it becomes much easier to detect when things have gone
amiss. While 16 European countries regularly use blood tests as an accepted standard
for testing for TBI, the United States still only uses the CT scan.
What do doctors test for? In previous studies, researchers discovered that the protein
known as S 100B serum increased rapidly after brain injuries. Medical practitioners
plan to test the blood within four hours of an injury to predict if a patient will suffer
from hemorrhaging or skull fractures. While it does take 20 minutes to learn of the
results, it could spare numerous patients the need for unnecessary exposure to

Greatest satisfaction? His biggest challenge day to day is finding people to hire.
There is a great need for drywallers in Michigan right now. He believes this is
caused by the recession. All of the local drywallers are extremely busy and do not
always show up for work when they say they will. Chris would really like to find
his own drywallers; however, this has been very difficult for him. He has turned to
social media and business friends for help in this area. His greatest satisfaction is
that owning his own businesses allows him to have a flexible schedule. He is able
to run his very active children around and coach football. Both of these things are
very important to him. Conclusion After interviewing Chris Bouwens and listening
to Joe Smith talk about his business. I have learned that they both have owner
multiple companies. It is very interesting to see the business that they started with
and what business they are running or looking to run today. Another similarity to
both of their business stories was that they both have a hard time hiring people. It
is interesting to me because they both seem like very intuitive people. I am so glad
that I took the time to sit down with Chris to really understand what he does. I am
also glad that I had the opportunity to meet Joe Smith. He is a kid wise beyond his
Prayer Of Your Servant And His Prayer Essay
regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O Lord my God, and listen
to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You: that your eyes
may be open toward this temple day and night, toward the place where You said You
would put Your name, that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes
toward this place. And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your
people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven Your dwelling
place, and when you hear, forgive. (2 Chronicles 6:14 15, 18 21)
When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the
burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. And the
priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled
the Lord s house. When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and
the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the
pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying: For He is good, For His
mercy endures forever. (2 Chronicles 7:1 3)
Lord, remember David and all his afflictions; How He swore to the Lord, and vowed
to the Mighty One of Jacob: Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, or go
up to the comfort of my bed, I will not give sleep to my eyelids, Until I find a place
for the Lord, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.

Soccer Descriptive Speech
The crowd is stomping their feet chanting USA! USA! , trying to make as much
noise as they can despite their gloved hands and frozen feet. The entire stadium is
shaking as the fans show their support for our goalie who just laid out for a
stunning save. As we settle back into our seats, wrapping blankets back around our
shoulders, I hear from behind me, God is helping out between those poles tonight.
Yeah, he must be a U.S. Women s fan too cuz Lord knows the men s team is

this exchange. It s just a fact around here: the women play better. Just three months
later I walk into Jordan Field, home of the Boston Breakers, a professional women
s soccer team and as we walk towards the stands one of my friends jokes that even
our high school has a better stadium than this. The sun is beating down on me, I
squint up at the stands noticing how empty they are despite the small number of
seats. Once the game starts it s clear that the fans here are just as enthusiastic as
U.S. Women s National Team (USWNT) fans, there just happens to be a lot less of
them. I began to wonder how is it that 26,500 people are willing to stand in the
freezing cold to support the USWNT, but a professional women s soccer league that
runs in the middle of the summer only averages about 6,610 fans per game ( U.S.

Nectar In A Sieve Essay
Nectar in a Sieve
Kamala Purnaiya Taylor is an Indian novelist and journalist from Mysore in southern
India. Being a very private person in nature, her literature is usually written under the
pseudonym of Kamala Markandaya. After studying history at the University of
Madras, she worked as a journalist and published short stories in Indian newspapers.
A couple of years after she immigrated to England with her English husband,
Markandaya published her first novel, Nectar in the Sieve.
This novel won several awards, was chosen as a Book of the Month Club Main
Selection in the United States, and the American Library Association named it a
notable book in 1955. Despite her success, Markandaya remained an extremely
private person, revealing little about her personal life and influences. Even so, insight
can be gained into her work by evaluating the religious, political, and social contexts
of her writing.
Having been raised in India as a Hindu Brahmin, in her work, Markandaya addresses
a fundamental question of Hindu belief: What does it mean to be human? Her Hindu
beliefs, and traditions are central to Nectar in a Sieve, and remnants of the epic
Ramayana, one of the best loved Indian folktales, are also woven throughout the
novel. Markandaya shapes Rukmani, the main character in Nectar in a Sieve, and her
story around the traditional life stages of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

My Favorite Poem By Carol Ann Duffy Essay
Together with four classmates in my English class, I created an anthology of five
poems. The theme of our anthology was based on love. We chose love because we
thought it applies to all aspects of life, including career, business, personal
relationships, personal development, self care and more. What stands out to most to
me about these poems is that in all these poems it shows that loveis something that
part of our life. My favorite poem is you by Carol Ann Duffy who happens to be
my, favorite author. I felt strongly connected to our theme of love because it
experienced by all of us at some point in our lives.
Over the years of my High school, I have progressed and learned more than I
imagined possible and that my ability to write and express my ideas has grown. In
the past, I have always struggled to put my thoughts on paper in a manner that is
consistent. As a matter of fact, I would just restate what I learned in class and what
I had found in my research and did not develop my own ideas nor support them
with the works of others. However, now I feel presumptuous that I could write a
paper about almost anything, my viewpoints are now capable of being more
convoluted because I have learned how to support my argument in an orderly
manner. When we were asked to do a poetry anthology based on a theme, our group
decided to go with love, for love is essentially quite engrossed and illustrated distinctly
in any humanity. Throughout history, love is to be found in music,

That which Is Accepted as Knowledge Todays Is
Sometimes...
Human beings are much of a strange creature many are attracted by what the majority
of the
population accepts as knowledge and follow this path for many years without asking
themselves the
reason why it is said to be that way. Others prefer completing their own knowledge
by referring to an
entity which is thought to be superior to all the living on Earth. Then there are those
which are open
minded, which stand out from the crowd, whose own curiosity takes the lead into
finding out the
secrets of the world. What the question is implying, is the fact that sometimes a
statement is said to be a

It was simply because they based
their idea on their present evidence; it was not just a matter of how it looks , as the
Earth looks
chaotically bumpy, with hills, cliffs, mountains and much more. It was another way
of looking at the
Earth which raised the idea of it being flat. This was by looking at the curvature of
the planet s
surface over a considerable length; how much does the Earth deviate (on average)
from perfect flatness.
The flat Earth theory would make it seem that the surface doesn t deviate from
flatness at all, that its
curvature is 0 per mile. The actual curvature of the Earth is on average 0.000126 per
mile (being it not
perfectly spherical), a quantity very close to 0 per mile, and certainly not easily
measured by the
equipment used by the ancients. The very small difference accounts for the fact to
why it took so long
to pass from the flat Earth to the round Earth. It is also however essential not to
discard this scientific
evidence as the Earth could not be mapped over large areas without extreme accuracy,
and long
voyages can t be undertaken with any reasonable way of locating one s own position
unless the Earth is
considered round rather than flat. Hence, although the flat Earth theory is only
slightly wrong in small
dimensions, it is enough to be discarded in favour of the round Earth theory.
As previously stated, not all theories have an absolute right or wrong , however, is

the Black cooler is always refer to death, bad luck, evil, anger and
hatred while the White cooler is always refer to good ,purity, religion and optimism .
First stanza the poet introduced the woman who attract him and he given description
of how he found her beautiful. The poet start comparing the woman he is enchanted
by her beauty to a beautiful thing in nature. He compare her to the night which is
cloudless sky and full of shiny stars. She was in a black dress set with spangles.

her eyes. It show the beauty of the contrast between bright and dark you can see it in
her eyes
that seem her eyes too white and very black.
This particular line clearly suggests that the darkness is also a part of the beauty the
poet describes. He does not only cling to the brighter and radiant aspects of beauty.
The poet confirm that the beauty of the moon does not appear on the day time
because it is bright. You can see the beauty of the moon at night it mean when the
sky gets dark and her beauty was so apparent because her black hair and her black
dress. Lord Byron show us in this line that sometimes the beauty of cooler does not
appear in light it appear in dark and black. The poet is fascinated by her beauty and he
declares that the woman s face is composed of all that is best of dark and bright. He
contrasts her beauty to gaudy day light.

He uses Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn s patient study as well as himself to show these
benefits and by doing so, he effectively gets his point across. Dr. Caldwell
Esselstyn shows credibility through successfully treating over 250 patients with
heart disease by mainly using a whole food, plant based diet and shares some of his
patient s stories (Forks 00:36:58). Dr. Esselstyn was given 24 patients, who were

Binary Oppisition Essay
Binary Opposition
In Greek tragedy there are many themes that are contrasted with each other. This is
known as binary opposition, which s defined as a contrast of themes that are the
opposite poles of each other. There are many conflicts in Euripides Medea and
Bacchae: perhaps the three most conspicuous oppositions are rational versus
irrational, foreigner versus natives, and stereotypical dichotomy of female and male.
The first binary opposite in Euripides plays are rational versus irrational thinking, his
characters are changing constantly within the plays; there are a couple of characters
that stays in a rational thinking which they do not favor any side of the conflict. In
Medea, Euripides showed rational thinking through the ... Show more content on

As they were on their way to worship Dionysus they see Pentheus and stopped to talk
with him (212). Pentheus started to speak about how he was out of the city and
heard rumors of the women leaving their homes and rather engage in cult

about how [Semele] lied about her union with Zeus and that he is not a god (244).
But Tiresias replies back to Pentheus that [w]henever a wise man sets out to argue
an honest case it s no great undertaking to argue well (266 67). Tiresias also states
that Pentheus rejoice whenever crowds gather at the palace gates and the city
glorifies [your] name... Dionysus too, ... takes delight in receiving [the same] honor
(319 21). In the mean time Cadmus also explains that [e]ven if the god does not
exist, as you claim, let him be considered a god in your eyes. Lies for good cause... In
this way [Semele] might seem to have given birth to a god and honor might accrue to
our entire family (332 36). Equally important, that Pentheus and Dionysus constantly
change from rational to irrational thinking throughout the play. Pentheus thinks
irrationally about what the women behavior is while they are in the mountains (354).
He believes that the women are in acts of lust with Aphrodite s pleasure (225). As for
Dionysus irrational thinking is when he punishes his family for their hybris acts
towards him (1347). Although there is a rational and irrational
The Pros And Cons Of The Alien And Sedition Act
US I America s bloodiest war fought was on its own soil, and it is known as the
Civil War. The road to the Civil War will begin in 1798 with the Virginia and
Kentucky Resolutions. The Resolutions were drafted as an opposition of the Alien
and Sedition Acts signed in by President Adams. These Acts were passed due to a
foreseen war with France. The Naturalization Act made it more difficult for an
immigrant to become a citizen of the United Statesby increasing the amount of time it
takes to complete citizenship from five years to fourteen years. The Sedition Act
forbid public opposition towards the government, which goes against the first
amendment in the constitution which states that Congress shall not prohibit freedom
of speech and of the press. The Alien and Sedition Acts were passed through
Congress in 1798 which prompted the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions published
by James Madisonand Thomas Jefferson. According to Britannica the Kentucky
Resolutions written by Thomas Jefferson declared that the national government did
not hold supreme authority and that states would get to decide what is passed within
the state and were voted to be invalid while the Virginia Resolutions published by
James Madison proclaimed the acts to be unconstitutional because the states have
supreme authority over what is occurring in the state. After this Thomas Jefferson and
John Adams will campaign against each other in the election of 1800 in which
Thomas Jefferson wins and becomes
The Many Forms of English
In America we have many immigrants from other countries that come over to
America speaking only the language that is known to them. In Mothers Tongue by
Amy Tan, she talks about the many kinds of English that she uses to speak with
her mother, husband, and people outside her home. Most immigrant children end
up learning their parents language, English, and the broken, yet passing English
that their parents use. This isn t just exclusive to immigrant homes; many
Americans have different forms of English that they use daily. We have the often
informal, laidback English we speak with our families, the English we speak to our
friends with, which tends to be more slang filled, and the more formal type of
English we speak to our colleagues and bosses with. Why do we have these many
variants of English and why do we use them, and is one better than the other? In a
bilingual home the child is usually the first person to learn English in the home. This
usually leads to the parents using the child as a translator or in Amy Tan s story her
mother uses her because of the fact that Amy can speak better English than her, My
mother has long realized the limitations of her English. When I was fifteen, she used
to have me call people on the phone and pretend I was she. (Tan 656). During this
time the parents learn their own broken form of English that they can use to
communicate with either their children or other people. This leads to the other form
of English that Amy Tan
Violence In Colonial America
The process of colonization in the Americas was a complex and complicated series
of events, each driven by the varied interests of an array of European empires. For
some, the Americas were a world of untold riches, while for others, this discovery
allowed for missionary efforts to convert Native Americans to their faith. Regardless
of the reason, violence against the many Native Americans who inhabited this new
land was a common colonization tool to achieve these means. Direct violence is the
most well known approach, one that Spain wielded so effectively that the Black
Legend was created to attest to their cruelty. Yet, the violence used was not all direct
in nature. Cultural violence, which England employed itself, was used just as often.
Overall, though the Black Legend has led to Spain being viewed as the most violent
colonizer in the Americas, England s use of indirect violence through engagement in
the fur tradeand missionary efforts was just as destructive to Native Americans. As
mentioned above, the concept of violence used in colonization, especially that of the
Americas, is usually thought of in only one form. The word conjures images of
conquistadores storming villages, officials forcing Natives into slavery, and the
brutal killings of those who did not adhere to European rule and religious ideals.
This is a direct and vivid form of violence. However, violence in colonization
extended into another variety. Indirect violence, which was much more common after

Have you ever stopped at a bar or at a traffic light and overheard a conversation
between cyclists and thought to yourself... what on earth are they talking about?
Well, I am going to tell you a little bit more by talking about Marianne Vos being a
visionary and ethical leader within the women s peloton. I will talk to you about
Marianne being a visionary leader because she uses her cognitive flexibility to
change her plans when she needs to as the race goes down. She is also an advancer in
women s cycling because she is one of the driving forces behind a new big race.
Personally, I would like to be more cognitive flexible than I am now as I
experienced it feeling uncomfortable during an airshow. I would also like to be able
to step over boundaries as advancers do. As my mentor did when the new enlisted
forces structure for the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) was still in the
development stage. Marianne is also an ethical leader because she uses her
knowledge on Emergent Leadership Issues, in particular about equal opportunity
using at least one of Toner s Principles. The three O s apply to her, as she is the
biggest champion in women s cycling. Personally, I can relate to the equal
opportunity issue due to the fact of how my father always warned me. And when I
was asked for the enlisted forces structure, I immediately thought I owed it to my
fellow Airman. So hereafter, I

Nero s Rulership
The cruel acts carried out by Nero in his rulership can be directly linked back to his
administrators, how they affected his morals and values to become the cruel leader
that he was. It is human nature that the values, morals, and attitudes shown later in
one s life are a result of the environment an individual grows up in. Nerowas

Nero would be led into carrying out the same act as his mother, killing her for full
power, nevertheless also revealing his own emerging corrupt behaviours. This
matricide was taken in great shock, in the annals of Tacitus, whose work is
representative of high class roman society around the time of 56 CE to 120 CE,
Tacitus writes as seen in appendix 2, on the reasoning behind the act. This change
in attitude from Nero can be linked to his second wife and mistress Poppaea.
Poppaea was another woman who was ambitious in gaining power. She is thought
to have had a great impact through seduction on convincing Nero to kill his
Mother but also Octavia, Seneca, who was one positive influence on Nero, and to
also use the Christians as a scapegoat to the great fire of Rome. To quote Tacitus

killing his not only wife but a future child is further evidence into the growing

In America, human nature is perceived as good or bad at given times, because
citizens are encouraged to keep on furthering themselves as individuals, building the
foundation for our society. For example, Americans who make the right decisions
are more likely to be successful in their career, instead of those who fall victim to
their impulses, leading them to the wrong path. This shows that one side requires
little to none constraints, while the other side needs to be monitored for some time,
until they start making the right calls. However, in other cultures, some believe that
human nature is considered as bad, needing to be corrected and monitored as much
as one can. This is clearly seen when governments observe their citizens daily,
ensuring they remain on track, if not, then they could pass new regulations to help
correct their citizen s behavior. Depending what culture you come from, one could
consider this as a correct or incorrect way to monitor
Nerdy Starcat Research Paper
The Nerdy Starcat lives in the deepest part of the ocean which is the ocean floor.
Its habitat has to be very dark, gloomy and cold. When the temperatures are cold, it
has the ability to use its thick skin to keep itself warm. However, if the temperatures
are hot, the Nerdy Starcat will overheat due to so much fur on its body. Because of
this, the Nerdy Starcat swims around the ocean floor to create its homes. Being very
picky and cautious about homes and environments, the Nerdy Starcat builds its home
behind the coral reefs. And the shape of its home is a banana. Due to such a unique
style and architecture of a home, fish swimming around it get attracted. The fish then
swim towards the banana and get eaten by the Nerdy Starcat. Having this
Gifted And Talented In Ender s Game
In society, there are a limited amount of individuals who are given the title Gifted
and Talented . In Ender s Game, Card accurately displays the aspects of the gifted
and talented and their relationship with society. The type of gifted and talented
individuals, the way they conform to society, and the way they are treated are key to
this relationship.
One important characteristic of gifted and talented individuals is their level of
intelligence. The gifted and talented are children who have potential to develop
significantly beyond what is expected of their age , which means their intelligence
is above average for their age (BBC News). Ender not only shows the characteristics
of a gifted child, but he also shows the traits of being a highly gifted child. Aspects of

Rhino Poaching Research Paper
The End of Rhino Poaching414 Everyday more and more rhinos die from
poaching. Did you know that every 11 hours one rhino dies from poachers? How
will we end rhino poaching? Now people are using drones to stop poachers. There
is an increasing demand for rhino horns. Everyday we lose more and more rhinos

How will drones catch the poachers? The drones are hand launched so there is no
need for a big runway. Also, the drones are only 12 pounds. Drones also have a six
mile range camera. The drones computer calculates a hot spot for poaching and
watches it from the sky. Next, if the drone sees a poacher then it sends an alert to
notify the game wardens. When the game wardens see the alert they rush down to
the poaching sight and try to catch the poachers before they attack. The drones film
a video of the scene including the weather, if there was a sun or moon, when it
happened and where. The drones film this to show the trends/patterns of poachers.
Drone technology can be very different. For example, they can have different
features. Thomas Smith and team at the University of Maryland have tested out
drones to stop poachers. In the last six months Smith s team had arrested a lot of
poachers with not one single gunshot. Their drones have infrared cameras and the
camera sends live video to the command center on the ground. Air Shepherd is

The Path Of Nursing And The Path To Nursing
A pathway towards nursing Nursing is one of the many appreciated careers within
the medical field. Nurses provide safe and efficient care for patients. They have
the chance to make a difference in people s lives. Nurses require many
responsibilities because patients and family members rely upon nurses so they
achieve goals that are crucial for the well being of a patient. They inform patients
and families about diseases and how to prevent them. Nursing requires empathy
and effort in order to succeed and help patients that need them the most. Nursing
would be a great career to pursue because it deals patient care and safety , it is a
promising career, and the job stability is high because it is in demand. Nursing is the
practice that involves patient care and safety because nurses treat and monitor a
patient. Nurses have a huge responsibility that requires intensive training and
knowledge within this position. The ability to make your own decisions is a huge
responsibility, for example working in a pre operative surgical unit and PACU (post

Dr. Martin Luther King
The United States has had countless influential leaders. Most of our praised leaders
have risen in times of depression, and in eras when we lacked the ability to come
together for ourselves. Dr. Martin Luther King was and will forever be
remembered as one of the greatest leaders in American history for his public
speaking skills that united millions during the civil rights movement. Born on
January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia, Dr. King was raised in a family of prominent
pastors. He later followed in his families footsteps and became the third member to
become a pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. He followed his Father and
grandfather by attending Morehouse College, which is a historically black
university. He later attended Boston College where he received his doctorate
degree and met his wife Coretta Scott who was his partner in his civil rights
campaign. He was an executive committee member on the NAACP board, and led
a 382 day boycott of the Montgomery Alabama bus system. In his lifetime he gave
over 2,500 speeches and wrote 5 books about the issues in regard to civil rights. He is
most famous for his I have a dream speech at the Lincoln memorial in which
spotlighted his dreams for blacks and all Americans to receive equal rights. He went
on to receive honors such as the Nobel Piece Prize, and man of the year awards. In
1968 he was in Memphis Tennessee for a civil march where he was assassinated
outside the Lorraine Motel at just age 39. Dr. King was
Memory And Repression Analysis
Memory used for testimony and convictions can be a very controversial way to
incarcerate those who are being accused of a crime. For instance, some may believe
that witness statements are reliable evidence able to prove someone s innocence or
guiltiness. Despite this, witness statements may contain lies or hidden, yet essential,
parts of the truththat had been purposefully forgotten, which is also known as
repression. In addition, witnesses or victims who have experienced trauma will most
likely experience amnesia as a result of facing an appalling act. Memories of
witnesses or victims should not be used to convict people who are allegedly charged
with a crime.
Many interviewers tend to interfere with the victim s current memories by pressuring
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One such case depicts this scenario, which is the Friedmans case. In the documentary,
Capturing the Friedmans, former computer students who had once attended Arnold s
classes were interviewed about the situation. When asked whether they had recalled
anything inappropriate going on in that class, some admitted while others denied.
This just goes to show that using memories is inaccurate and repression are
sometimes used to deny these accusations. However, even if these people were not
using repression, they may be experiencing amnesia due to the traumatic occurrences
of these horrendous events that happened during their childhood. Nonetheless,
whether the former computer students did lie or truthfully forgot about it, these
memories should still not be used to convict people wrongfully without hardcore
evidence.
To sum up, courts should not use memories of witnesses as a way to imprison those
who are charged with a crime. This is because memories tend to be easily influenced
and can also contain concealed lies within it. As a result, there is inaccurate
information told in the witnesses statements. Furthermore, interviewers include lots
of bias in their questions, which eventually screws up the truth since the potential
victims are put into too much pressure. Memories should not be used to convict
people with a crime because it is an unreliable approach to claim someone guilty or

Dance is a sport Essay
Persuasive Speech Outline
Dance is a Sport!
I. Introduction:
a) Attention Getter: What is the definition of a sport? A game played with a ball? Is
it people in tight pants running around? How about an athletic activity requiring skill
or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature ? That sounds more like it.
Football, baseball, and track fit those definitions, but so does another recreational
activity that is not typically considered a sport: dance.
b) Personal Statement: I myself am a dancer and have been dancing my whole life.
Being a dancer, one of the worst things anyone can say is that dance is not a sport
and I want to prove them wrong.
Transition: Dance fits all those requirements. An athletic activity? Oh... Show more

c) Balance is a vital part of dance. Dancers must have strong core muscles. Men need
strong shoulders for lifts, since they must not only support their own body weight but
also their partner s. Dancers are some of the toughest athletes in the world, claims Dr.
McNitt Gray.
IV. Dance is a competitive nature.
a) Many ask, How can dance be a sport? You can t judge on time and the scoring is
subjective! Just like figure skaters, competitive dancers are judged on many criteria:
technique, posture, timing, line, hold, poise, togetherness, expression, presentation,
power, and foot or leg action. Dancers have a lot on their minds while performing.
They are constantly asking themselves, am I extending correctly? Is my technique
right? Is my head facing the right direction?
b) Some people think dance involves less endurance than sports like cross country
running. However, these runners exert forces in only one direction but, as Dr.
McNitt Gray said, in dance, your hands, legs, and head are exerting forces in
different directions all at the same time.
c) Dance is a cardiovascular, aerobic, and

David being a skeptic doubted a lot of concepts, one of these concepts was the
concept of personal identity. Hume believed that there is no such thing as a personal
identity that resembles the core of people s true selves that is unchangeable
throughout life. Hume believed that people s identities are bundles of different
properties and perceptions, and it is impossible to picture someone without these
properties, same way it is impossible to picture the sun without light. Hume argues
that the reason why most people believe that personal identity is unchangeable is the
misinterpretation of self awareness, Hume believes that humans could never be truly
aware of themselves, but through experience using their senses and imagination they
might think that they are truly aware of themselves, but they are only aware of their
surroundings. Therefore, it would be sound to conclude that Hume s theory of the
self is a critical aspect of David Hume s philosophy as it helps shape his skeptical

In the book fate is shown a lot but one main area of fate shown is when Stanley gets
sent to camp green lake and so does Zero, because later in the book we see that
Stanley and Zero become best friends and that Zero is the great, great grandson of
Madame Zeroni who is the person that put the curse on Stanley and his family. In
the book, it quotes I should have just kept them, said Zero. I d already made it out
of the shelter and everything. I ended up getting arrested the next day when I tried
to walk out of a shoe store with a new pair of sneakers. If I had just kept those old
smelly sneakers, then neither of us would be here right now. (41.27). Then later in
the novel [Stanley] remembered what Zero had said a few days before. If Zero
had just kept those shoes, then neither of them would be here right now. As
Stanley stared at the glittering night sky, he thought there was no place he would
rather be. He was glad Zero put the shoes on the parked car. He was glad they fell
from the overpass and hit him on the head. When the shoes first fell from the sky,
he remembered thinking that destiny had struck him. Now, he thought so again. It
was more than a coincidence. It had to be destiny . (42.26 28). This shows signs of
fate in the book because if zero didn t throw the shoes the curse would have never
been lifted because Stanley and zero would have never

The film follows the Witch in her attempt to track down the shoes. Dorothy leads

picked locations around campus that had minimal background noise. Because of the
location and our film budget,
What Are The Stereotypes In My Cousin Vinny
My Cousin Vinny (1992) is a perfect way to show Italians in Hollywood movies. It
gives the gangster stereotype, the family sticks together, names that people associate

These characters all carry some sort of stereotype that corresponds with being Italian.
Although some have a more dominant presence of the stereotype, it can still be found
during the movie. The movie starts off with two friends driving around in the south.

The Macroeconomics of Unemployment
The Macroeconomics of Unemployment In any economy, no matter whether it is
controlled by the government or by free markets, people need to work in order to
support it. The government does not generate tax revenue by magic. There have to
be people in that economy earning an income to ensure that the government
continues to collect taxes. In a free market economy, the same applies because
there are some services which only an organized government can supply (such as
protection from extra national threats), but there also those which the people get
for themselves because of the working of the markets. In any scenario,
unemployment is, at the very least, a drag on the economy, and it can be much
worse. This paper examines how the unemployment rate in the United States is
underreported, and how that fact effects the sluggishness of the present economy.
Unemployment is currently measured in the United States by counting those who
do not have a job, have actively looked for work in the prior four weeks, and are
currently available for work (Leonhardt). This means that a great deal of people
are not counted as unemployed because they are discouraged and have not looked
for work in the past four weeks. Or, the person was injured in some way and they
are not currently available for work. This does not mean that the people in either of
these groups do not actually wish to find work, but it does mean that they are not
counted because of an archaic system that has been used by
Portrayal Analysis Of Old Spice
Old spice is a very important brand for men, but not many people would know that
Old Spice was originally made for women. Until little before Christmas time of 1937
Shulton Company sales were doing well and figured they could do better by
transitioning into men products which began the Old Spice we know today. Over the
years the company grew into selling shaving soap, aftershave lotion, shampoo,
conditioner, deodorant, body wash and body sprays leading to high selling products
and manly ads that changed the advertisement game.
Most ads use high movie stars or athletes to grab people s attention for their
product. Old Spice is one of the few who doesn t just depend on their voice but
their physical features to grab everyone s attention. Men like Terry Cruz, Ray Lewis,
and Isaiah Mustafa with muscles and a 6 pack to make the ladies go crazy. Putting
them on an ad grabs the female s attention whether they have a man or not, they want
their boyfriend or husband to be like them. Buying that product that Isaiah Mustafa
was in is bond to make their man become somewhat like him especially if Isaiah tells
you to become the man that he is.
In the ad that Isaiah Mustafa is featured in, you can see a white soap bubble made

mustache, wearing only a vest to show his abs. There is a pretty looking female
looking up to him with awe and wonder clearly attracted to him by her body tones.

budget, NEVER try to save money on the power supply. The power supply is the
heart of the PC, it gives the computer life. Without the power supply the other
components would not be anything but metal and plastic. The first portion of the
computer build for either casual or hardcore, is the CPU. There are two major
companies to pick from, Intel and AMD.The only difference in the two is the
compatibility with certain motherboards. Whichever is picked, Intel or AMD, will
help narrow the decisions on the motherboard, which will in turn help figure out the
RAM needed. After the decision has been made of one company or the other, the
next step is to pick which CPU from either company is the right one for the builder.

Antimicrobial Effectiveness Of Spices And Herbs
From the ancient times spices and herbs has been mainly used as natural food
preservatives, as food additives and as flavouring agents. Various spices indicates
antimicrobial action against distinctive sorts of microorganisms. This project
proposal gives a literature review considering antimicrobial action of vital oils
generally utilized as spices and herbs. For e.g.: garlic, mustard, bay, cumin, thyme,
basil, oregano, pepper, ginger, sage, rosemary etc. Against most regular bacteriaand
fungi that contaminated food (Staphylococcusspp, Salmonella spp, Escherichia spp
and many others). Antimicrobial activity is depending on the content of extracts and
essential oils, types of food and microorganisms, type of spice and herb and chemical
composition.

The Cubs Way By Tom Verducci
The Cubs Way, written by Tom Verducci, reveals how the Chicago Cubs finally
won the World Series after being cursed for 108 years. Tom Verducci is a baseball
writer for Sports Illustrated and baseball analyst for Fox Sports. Verducci
announced his first World Series in 2014 for Fox. He has also written The Yankee
Years and several other baseball books. In The Cubs Way, Verducci details Chicago
Cubsfirst World Series championship since 1908 in a way that cannot be found
anywhere else.
Prior to 2016, the Chicago Cubs had been winless in the World Series since 1908.
They had only reached the World Series once, in 1945, and came within five outs of
it in 2003 in the famous Steve Bartman game. The Cubs first initiative in rebuilding
the team was the hire of Theo Epstein. Epstein had previously been with the Red Sox,

He saw the Cubs as a chance to be a part of history and knew what a World Series
championship would mean to the Cubs fans. Epstein first established his goals for
the Cubs and his plan to rebuild the team. He wanted impact players , players who
were not only skilled players on the field, but were leaders and genuinely good
people off of it. His four impact players he would acquire were Kris Bryant,
Anthony Rizzo, Addison Russell, and Kyle Schwarber. These players would be at
the core of the 2016 World Series championship team. In 2014, Epstein hired Joe
Maddon as the Cubs manager, the final piece of the puzzle. As soon as I found out
he was available I knew we had to have him. After Maddon s hire, the Cubs would
quickly develop into a successful team, winning 97 games in 2015, and beating the
Cardinals, their arch rival, in the NLDS. In 2016, the Cubs would start the season
Information Communication Technology ( Ict )
Information communication technology (ICT) continues to play a major role in
business especially in electronic commerce or e commerce. E commerce is the
financial business that is conducted in an electronic network and mainly the internet.
Through e commerce, consumers are allowed to make purchases from both
businesses as well as other consumers where payments are made through various
options. For information systemto flourish there is a need to have the necessary
infrastructure and the requisite technology to facilitate any technological platform.
On the other hand, the platform requires an information system in order to run
smoothly.
Introduction
An information system is an integral part in any business in enhancing the
development of new products as well as services and the innovation of business
models. It is also significant in the decision making process and the development of
business networks and relations. Additionally information systems are critical in the
enhancement of business efficiency in operations that is important in creating a
competitive advantage. There are different information systems which differ with
their purpose and type of industry as well as different levels of management that use
them.
There is the Executive Information System (EIS) used by the top level of executives,
whereas senior managers require a Decision Support Systems (DSS), and the middle
level managers use the Management Information Systems (MIS). finally, there are

Universal Set of Principles in the Field of Accounting Essay
Introduction
A principle is defined as a rule, or even an idea that forms the basis of deciding
what is wrong and what is right in context to our actions. As opposed to principles,
we all have our own personal practices and traditions, which determine our behavior
in the society. These practices are determined from our culture, society, ancestors,
experiences and religion etc. But since we live in a world where every person has
their own set of practices and traditions, we cannot expect to live the way we want
and this is where rules and principles come in. The very foundations of any principle
are built upon its underlying morals, ethics and laws, which are expected to be
accepted universally (Chippendale, 2001).

The paper then evaluates International Accounting Standards Board s (IASB)
attempts to develop a conceptual framework and the current state. In the final section
I will discuss and reflect upon the evidence presented to support the topic of this
essay along with a conclusion of facts and ideas presented.
The need for a conceptual framework
As we can understand from above that one person s principle cannot necessarily be
another one s too; there needs to be an independent body, which can produce
universally acceptable principles to resolve matters systematically and uniformly.
When we talk about the introduction of a universal set of principles in the field of
accounting, it was the famous stock crash of 1929, which wreaked havoc in the
financial markets around the globe and created a situation where the need for
generally accepted accounting principles was felt the most! (Lawrence et al, 1993).
The resulting economic downturn, which lasted until 1939, was one of the gravest
depressions ever recorded in the history and a lack of universal accounting standards
was blamed to be one of the reasons for over valuation of stocks and overtrading.
Although the depression arose in the United States but output losses, deflation and
job cuts were observed all over the globe (Romer, 2003). Between these times the
accounting profession started to promote the idea of independent audits and
The French Revolution And The Example Of The
American...
The revolution resulted, among other things, in the overthrow of the Bourbon
monarchy in France and in the establishment of the First Republic. It was generated
by a vast complex of causes, the most important of which were the inability of the
ruling classes of nobility, clergy, and bourgeoisie to come to grips with the problems
of state, the indecisive nature of the monarch, impoverishment of the workers, the
intellectual ferment of the Age of Enlightenment, and the example of the American
Revolution. Recent scholarship tends to downplay the social class struggle and
emphasize political, cultural, ideological, and personality factors in the advent and
unfolding of the conflict. The Revolution itself produced an equally vast complex of

Unable to stem the rising tide of revolt, Louis XVI withdrew his loyal troops. He
recalled Necker, and then he formally legalized the measures that had been taken by
the provisional authorities. Unrest and disorder, known as the Great Fear, stimulated
the National Constituent Assembly to action. During the night session of August 4,
1789, the clergy, nobles, and bourgeoisie renounced their privileges; a few days later
the assembly passed a law abolishing feudal and manorial prerogatives.
The assembly proceeded to grapple with its primary task, the drafting of a
constitution. In the constitutional preamble, known in history as the Declaration of
the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, the delegates formulated the revolutionary
ideals later summarized as Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. While the Constituent
Assembly deliberated, the hungry population of Paris, a hotbed of discontent and
of rumors of Royalist conspiracy clamored for food and agitated for action. On
October 5 6 a large body of Parisians, mostly women, marched on Versailles and laid
siege to the royal palace. Lafayette, on demand of the crowd, escorted Louis and his
family to Paris. After this episode some conservative members of the Constituent
Assembly, which followed the king to Paris, handed in their resignations. In Paris,
both the court and the assembly became increasingly subject to pressures from its
citizens. Radical sentiment became predominant in the
Leadership Theory Of Leadership Development
Leadership Theory
I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with
people.
Mahatma Gandhi
Ethical leadership has established on following principles.
Leadership is a process whereby individual influences a group of individuals to
achieve a common goal (Northouse, 2013, p. 5). So, to better understand the
fundamental principles preceding leadership philosophy, we have to understand the
theory of leadership development and its essential characteristics. The leadership
theories that are greatest associated with my personal developmental plan are the
theory of relationship and transformational leadership. The transformational
leadership theory is allied with my personal development plan because it is also
known as the transformational leadership model, which emphases on the influences
that inspires both the leader and the followers. According to this theory, the main
elements or fundamental base is created on vision, trust, power, authenticity,
motivation, and communication.
The development within the organization depend on, how the leaders lead the
organization and distinguish the change or growth. Drucker (2012) has provided the
five basic functions of organizational work culture like; planning, organizing,
controlling, motivating and coordinating. The transformational leader understands
these basic factors and inspire and encourage those who perceive the importance of
the higher good of the task.
Analysis Of Junot Diaz s The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar
Wao
In Junot DГaz s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, one crucial point in the
novel is in its questioning of the well known tension between writers and dictators.
The narrator problematizes the conventional idea that tyrants and scribblers are
natural antagonists by claiming that both just know competition when they see it....
Like, after all, recognizes like (DГaz, 97). The idea that writers and dictators share
similarities is contradictory by itself; but, DГaz plays with this idea through his
representation of the Historical Dominican Dictator Rafael Trujilloand characters
such as Yunior. While the ties between these two political and creative powers can be
made clear through observations of DГaz s story, the same connection can also be
made apparent in other works of art. Written by Hector Oesterheld and drawn by
Francisco Lopez, The Eternaut is an Argentina graphic novelthat revolves around the
main character gaining the power of time travel through his survival of an incoming
alien invasion. A subject of various interpretations, The Eternaut is often understood
as a massive metaphor that criticizes the dictatorships and the political strifes of its
time. This paper will analyze the paradoxical connection between writers and
dictators introduced in Diaz s novel; as well as, compare its connection to the political
interpretations made in Oesterheld s The Eternaut.
To understand the comparable relationship between writers and totalitarian leaders in
the book, it is
Essay about Lessons in Leadership in Demian
Lessons in Leadership in Demian
In Demian, Hesse uses a comparison to the Biblical story of Cain and Abel to
convey his ideas about those who are different. The idea arises again and again,
causing the reader to look at it from a very unique perspective. Through this
comparison, the reader begins to see the mark of Cain as a positive symbol as the
mark of those who would lead the world into the future of mankind, without fear.
When Emil Sinclair first meets Max Demian, he sees that Demian is not like anyone
he has ever known. Unconsciously, he views Demian as having a mark something
that sets him apart from the others. Sinclair isn t sure if it is the ... Show more content

This is important in explaining how both Demian and Sinclair are so separate from
the others: they bear this metaphorical mark. This explains, also, the characters in
the book toward which Sinclair is drawn Frau Eva, Pistorius, Beatrice; all people
whom are different from the herd. This notion of superiority is supported constantly
throughout the novel, but never quite so clearly as when Demian demonstrates his
inherently stronger will. He somehow scares Kromer, Sinclair s childhood
tormentor, away; he stares down the Confirmation class teacher in order to sit
wherever he likes. Being so much stronger and bolder than others, he is capable of
exerting his will over theirs. This is a product of that which his mark implies.
People such as these do, in fact, exist in the real world. They are not just creations of
an imagination in application to the Biblical tale of Cain and Abel. Though the
difference in these stronger, perhaps better, people is not quite so apparent in reality
as in Demian, they do bear the same sort of mark. These people are the ones who
show no fear, who innovate and create without concern for the standards of others.
They write novels such as Demian and The Fountainhead; they sculpt statues like the
Madonna della Piet aacute;. They are wise, intelligent, and bold.
Gender Pay Gap for Women Athletes Essay
Traditionally men have dominated the world of sports however in recent year s
women s sports have become popular and with their new found popularity, women s
sports have evolved into marketable leagues of their own. Although women s sports
took a huge leap forward, women players still don t receive the same financial
compensation for playing the same sports in the same arenas as their male
counterparts. In Purse Snatching by Donna Lopiano, she points out sexism may have
a huge effect on this financial discrepancy between women and men athletes.
Analyzing sports economics may point to a different reason why women are
receiving such a compensation disparity. Women sports have come a long way, since

the NASCAR Nationwide Series. With all the success and financial gains women
have reached in sports, Women are still underpaid when compared to male
athletes. Lopiano complains that there s too much of a salaries gap between man
and women playing the same sports. The right to play has been established.
However, the issue that has been confronted is the barrier to being treated equally
when it comes to money (Lopiano 1). Most people will say women s tennis
matches are more exciting than men s matches; men s victory purses are still
considerably higher than women s victory purses. Top women tennis players
earned 59 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts. The average
total purse was $63,031,000.00 for top men players and $41,000,000.00 for top
women players (Daniel Frankl 2). In soccer, the Women s World Cup soccer team
was promised $12,500 if they won compared to the $300,000 male players were to
receive. The payout for women players was increased to $50,000 because fans
protested the unfair payout gap between the male and female players (Lopiano 1); it
s still 1/6 the payout
Essay On Cement Industry
Compiled by: Mirza Rohail B
http://economicpakistan.wordpress.com/2008/02/12/cement industry/
History Introduction
Growth of cement industry is rightly considered a barometer for economic activity.
In 1947, Pakistan had inherited 4 cement plants with a total capacity of 0.5 million
tons. Some expansion took place in 1956 66 but could not keep pace with the
economic development and the country had to resort to imports of cement in 1976 77
and continued to do so till 1994 95. The industry was privatized in 1990 which led to
setting up of new plants. Although an oligopoly market, there exists fierce
competition between members of the cartel today.
The industry comprises of 29 firms (19 units in the north and 10 units in the south), ...

However, this growth is magnified, as FY2007 08 was an abnormally low profit
period for the sector.
Moreover, the performance is skewed towards large players with export potential as
profitable companies in both years posted increase of just 109 percent, said analyst at
JS Research Atif Zafar.
He said that cumulative profitability of companies in FY09 stood at Rs 6.2 billion
or $78.2 million as compared to Rs 386 million or $6.2 million depicting a massive
growth of 1,492 percent. Companies with profits in both the years posted 109 percent
earnings improvement.
Though total dispatches were down 2 percent, net sales grew by 55 percent to Rs
101.4 billion or $1.3 billion on the back of higher net retention prices (up 59
percent) and improved export based revenues. Cost of sales/tonne also rose by 33
percent on yearly basis amid higher realised coal prices and inflationary pressures, the
analyst maintained.
Production Capacity
In Pakistan, there are 29 cement manufacturers that are playing a vital role in the
building up the country s economy and contribution towards growth and prosperity.
After 2002 3, most of the cement manufacturers expanded their operations, and
increased production. This sector has invested about $1.5 billion in capacity
expansion over the last six years.
The operating capacity of cement in 1991 was 7 million tons, which increased to
become 18 million tons by 2005 06 and by end of 2007 rose to above 37 million
The Moulton Family Crest
The Moulton family Crest is characterized by seven distinct attributes that include the
four symbols found within the crest, the unicorn lion supporting characters on the
side of the crest, the knight on top of the crest, and the main color. The four main
sections that represent my families heritage are a crescent, a griffin, a hand and a
heart. The crescent is a sign of hope and enlightenment, the griffin is a sign of
vigilance, the hand is a sign of truthfulness and charity, and the heart is a sign of
justice and sincerity. Each of these characteristics are strongly present in the Moulton
family as we carry hope in our hearts, act with vigilance, and treat others with
truthfulness, sincerity and justice. The lions on the side act as supportive
A Whole New Mind Summary
The Conceptual Age In A Whole New Mind: Why Right Brainers Will Rule the
Future, Daniel Pink explained that we are moving from an Information Age built
on the sequential, logical, analytical skills of the knowledge worker towards the
Conceptual Age, where creators and empathizers will lead society. Right Brain
Rising In the Conceptual Age, it will not longer suffice to rely heavily on the logic
of the left brain. Computers, cheaper sources and labor will continue to lead to
outsourcing of this work; instead, creativity and innovation will give rise to future
development. To prosper in the Conceptual Age, people will need to weave together

countries such as China, India and Russia by 2015. In order to avoid being

The Theories Of Regulatory Capture
While some would argue that Reagan s administration and his radical reign of
deregulation helped the economy in America recover from the rough economic
periods in the 1970 s and brought down the over powering big government, much of
the literature, when synthesized, can show how his policies have produced long
lasting problems. By looking into the theories of regulatory capture, the literature
focusing on the evolution of the FDA, and his administration in hindsight, it is
feasible to connect his policy decisions to the results of the capturing of the FDA by
the pharmaceutical industry.
Regulatory Capture Theory
When discussing regulatory policies in America and the influential relationship
between the FDA and the pharmaceutical drug industry, it is important to understand
the theory of regulatory capture. Regulatory capture theories emerged in the 1960s as
an extension of the regulatory theory of public interest. The most rudimentary
definition of regulatory capture is a form of political corruption in which a regulatory
agency [such as the Food and Drug Administration] is influenced by firms within the
industry it is created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The issue surrounding high levels of fraternization between the agency and the
industry is the risk of acting in ways that threaten public interest. If the firms within
the industry are too influential in the formation of regulations, their interests
outweigh that of the public. It is a common concern that this capturing could lead to
policies that hinder competition to the benefit of a particular firm or give one firm a
substantial advantage in the market. It is evident that regulatory capture is a failure
in policy making because the purpose of regulation is to distinguish between
programs that regulate and those that promote business enterprise. If the industry is
promoted in the regulation process, there is a clear conflict of interest and evidence of

Short Story Analysis Essay Example

  • 1. Short Story Analysis Essay Example Crafting a Short Story Analysis Essay Example can prove to be a challenging task, requiring a delicate balance between literary analysis and creative expression. Firstly, the writer must thoroughly understand the chosen short story, unraveling its intricacies and uncovering its underlying themes. This demands a keen eye for detail and an ability to perceive nuances that might escape the casual reader. The next hurdle involves constructing a coherent and compelling argument. The essay must not merely summarize the short story but delve into its depths, examining the characters, plot, and literary devices employed by the author. This analytical process demands a comprehensive understanding of literary techniques and the skill to articulate these insights in a clear and organized manner. Furthermore, capturing the essence of the short story and conveying its impact on the reader is a delicate art. Crafting a compelling introduction that hooks the reader, developing a well- structured body that delves into the story's nuances, and concluding with a thought-provoking summary requires a nuanced approach to writing. Additionally, maintaining a balance between objective analysis and subjective interpretation can be tricky. The essay should not become a mere expression of personal opinions but should be grounded in evidence from the text. This requires careful navigation between providing evidence and allowing space for personal interpretation. Moreover, mastering the art of concise and impactful writing is essential. Given the limited word count of most essays, every sentence must contribute to the overall argument. Striking the right balance between brevity and depth of analysis is a continual challenge. In conclusion, creating a Short Story Analysis Essay Example demands a multifaceted skill set encompassing literary analysis, critical thinking, and effective communication. It involves a meticulous exploration of the chosen short story, an ability to construct a coherent argument, and a talent for expressing complex ideas concisely. Despite its challenges, successfully navigating this process can be a rewarding endeavor, resulting in a nuanced and insightful exploration of a literary work. • 2. Argumentative Essay On Blood Tests Published in the Journal of Neurotrauma on July 10, a new blood test may soon help emergency room doctors to diagnose a traumatic brain injury and its severity with greater speed. What benefits may arise from this new practice? First, it could locate patients who will benefit from experimental treatment and extra therapy. Frederick Korley, from John Hopkins University School of Medicine, said that compared to measuring other proteins related to traumatic brain injury, BDNF predicts the outcome with greater accuracy. Millions of Americans strikes to the head or whiplash after a car accident, which can lead to a traumatic brain injury. The severity of the event will range from a mild concussion that temporarily blurs the vision to more serious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is the advantage of predicting the outcome of TBI? Doctors can advise patients early, and they can recommend whether or not they need to take time off work. In addition, they can decide if the person will need followup treatment with a neurologist. This is extraordinarily important considering that TBI is a lead cause of disability and death within the United States. With blood tests accurately identifying if a patient has suffered from TBI, they can reduce the amount of unnecessary CT scans by about 30 percent. We have seen a need for an accurate and faster screening tool. Coupled with a CT scan, it becomes much easier to detect when things have gone amiss. While 16 European countries regularly use blood tests as an accepted standard for testing for TBI, the United States still only uses the CT scan. What do doctors test for? In previous studies, researchers discovered that the protein known as S 100B serum increased rapidly after brain injuries. Medical practitioners plan to test the blood within four hours of an injury to predict if a patient will suffer from hemorrhaging or skull fractures. While it does take 20 minutes to learn of the results, it could spare numerous patients the need for unnecessary exposure to

I had the opportunity to watch him take these ideas to fruition. He runs both of these companies out of the same Grand Rapids office. Each company has its own employees, logos, and phone numbers. Professional Safety Solutions is centered on hospital and construction site safety, inspections and testing. ProDry is a water and mold remediation company. All of the local drywallers are extremely busy and do not always show up for work when they say they will. Chris would really like to find his own drywallers; however, this has been very difficult for him. He has turned to social media and business friends for help in this area. His greatest satisfaction is that owning his own businesses allows him to have a flexible schedule. He is able to run his very active children around and coach football. Both of these things are very important to him. Conclusion After interviewing Chris Bouwens and listening to Joe Smith talk about his business. I have learned that they both have owner multiple companies. It is very interesting to see the business that they started with and what business they are running or looking to run today. Another similarity to both of their business stories was that they both have a hard time hiring people. It is interesting to me because they both seem like very intuitive people. I am so glad that I took the time to sit down with Chris to really understand what he does. I am also glad that I had the opportunity to meet Joe Smith. He is a kid wise beyond his
  • 4. Prayer Of Your Servant And His Prayer Essay regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O Lord my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You: that your eyes may be open toward this temple day and night, toward the place where You said You would put Your name, that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place. And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive. (2 Chronicles 6:14 15, 18 21) When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord s house. When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying: For He is good, For His mercy endures forever. (2 Chronicles 7:1 3) Lord, remember David and all his afflictions; How He swore to the Lord, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, or go up to the comfort of my bed, I will not give sleep to my eyelids, Until I find a place for the Lord, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob. • 5. Soccer Descriptive Speech The crowd is stomping their feet chanting USA! USA! , trying to make as much noise as they can despite their gloved hands and frozen feet. The entire stadium is shaking as the fans show their support for our goalie who just laid out for a stunning save. As we settle back into our seats, wrapping blankets back around our shoulders, I hear from behind me, God is helping out between those poles tonight. Yeah, he must be a U.S. Women s fan too cuz Lord knows the men s team is terrible. This come from two middle aged women decked out in U.S. Soccer gear sitting a row behind me. The group of people around them chuckle after hearing this exchange. It s just a fact around here: the women play better. Just three months later I walk into Jordan Field, home of the Boston Breakers, a professional women s soccer team and as we walk towards the stands one of my friends jokes that even our high school has a better stadium than this. The sun is beating down on me, I squint up at the stands noticing how empty they are despite the small number of seats. Once the game starts it s clear that the fans here are just as enthusiastic as U.S. Women s National Team (USWNT) fans, there just happens to be a lot less of them. I began to wonder how is it that 26,500 people are willing to stand in the freezing cold to support the USWNT, but a professional women s soccer league that runs in the middle of the summer only averages about 6,610 fans per game ( U.S. WNT vs. England 1, 2017 NWSL
  • 6. Nectar In A Sieve Essay Nectar in a Sieve Kamala Purnaiya Taylor is an Indian novelist and journalist from Mysore in southern India. Being a very private person in nature, her literature is usually written under the pseudonym of Kamala Markandaya. After studying history at the University of Madras, she worked as a journalist and published short stories in Indian newspapers. A couple of years after she immigrated to England with her English husband, Markandaya published her first novel, Nectar in the Sieve. This novel won several awards, was chosen as a Book of the Month Club Main Selection in the United States, and the American Library Association named it a notable book in 1955. Despite her success, Markandaya remained an extremely private person, revealing little about her personal life and influences. Even so, insight can be gained into her work by evaluating the religious, political, and social contexts of her writing. Having been raised in India as a Hindu Brahmin, in her work, Markandaya addresses a fundamental question of Hindu belief: What does it mean to be human? Her Hindu beliefs, and traditions are central to Nectar in a Sieve, and remnants of the epic Ramayana, one of the best loved Indian folktales, are also woven throughout the novel. • 7. My Favorite Poem By Carol Ann Duffy Essay Together with four classmates in my English class, I created an anthology of five poems. The theme of our anthology was based on love. We chose love because we thought it applies to all aspects of life, including career, business, personal relationships, personal development, self care and more. What stands out to most to me about these poems is that in all these poems it shows that loveis something that part of our life. My favorite poem is you by Carol Ann Duffy who happens to be my, favorite author. I felt strongly connected to our theme of love because it experienced by all of us at some point in our lives. Over the years of my High school, I have progressed and learned more than I imagined possible and that my ability to write and express my ideas has grown. In the past, I have always struggled to put my thoughts on paper in a manner that is consistent. As a matter of fact, I would just restate what I learned in class and what I had found in my research and did not develop my own ideas nor support them with the works of others. However, now I feel presumptuous that I could write a paper about almost anything, my viewpoints are now capable of being more convoluted because I have learned how to support my argument in an orderly manner. When we were asked to do a poetry anthology based on a theme, our group decided to go with love, for love is essentially quite engrossed and illustrated distinctly in any humanity. Throughout history, love is to be found in music,

Human beings are much of a strange creature many are attracted by what the majority of the population accepts as knowledge and follow this path for many years without asking themselves the reason why it is said to be that way. Others prefer completing their own knowledge by referring to an entity which is thought to be superior to all the living on Earth. Then there are those which are open minded, which stand out from the crowd, whose own curiosity takes the lead into finding out the secrets of the world. It was simply because they based their idea on their present evidence; it was not just a matter of how it looks , as the Earth looks chaotically bumpy, with hills, cliffs, mountains and much more. It was another way of looking at the Earth which raised the idea of it being flat. This was by looking at the curvature of the planet s surface over a considerable length; how much does the Earth deviate (on average) from perfect flatness. The flat Earth theory would make it seem that the surface doesn t deviate from flatness at all, that its curvature is 0 per mile. The very small difference accounts for the fact to why it took so long to pass from the flat Earth to the round Earth. It is also however essential not to discard this scientific evidence as the Earth could not be mapped over large areas without extreme accuracy, and long voyages can t be undertaken with any reasonable way of locating one s own position unless the Earth is considered round rather than flat. Hence, although the flat Earth theory is only slightly wrong in small dimensions, it is enough to be discarded in favour of the round Earth theory. As previously stated, not all theories have an absolute right or wrong , however, is there such an

This is known as binary opposition, which s defined as a contrast of themes that are the opposite poles of each other. There are many conflicts in Euripides Medea and Bacchae: perhaps the three most conspicuous oppositions are rational versus irrational, foreigner versus natives, and stereotypical dichotomy of female and male. He speaks about how [Semele] lied about her union with Zeus and that he is not a god (244). But Tiresias replies back to Pentheus that [w]henever a wise man sets out to argue an honest case it s no great undertaking to argue well (266 67). Tiresias also states that Pentheus rejoice whenever crowds gather at the palace gates and the city glorifies [your] name... Dionysus too, ... takes delight in receiving [the same] honor (319 21). In this way [Semele] might seem to have given birth to a god and honor might accrue to our entire family (332 36). Equally important, that Pentheus and Dionysus constantly change from rational to irrational thinking throughout the play. Pentheus thinks irrationally about what the women behavior is while they are in the mountains (354). He believes that the women are in acts of lust with Aphrodite s pleasure (225). The road to the Civil War will begin in 1798 with the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions. The Resolutions were drafted as an opposition of the Alien and Sedition Acts signed in by President Adams. These Acts were passed due to a foreseen war with France. The Naturalization Act made it more difficult for an immigrant to become a citizen of the United Statesby increasing the amount of time it takes to complete citizenship from five years to fourteen years. The Sedition Act forbid public opposition towards the government, which goes against the first amendment in the constitution which states that Congress shall not prohibit freedom of speech and of the press. The Alien and Sedition Acts were passed through Congress in 1798 which prompted the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions published by James Madisonand Thomas Jefferson. According to Britannica the Kentucky Resolutions written by Thomas Jefferson declared that the national government did not hold supreme authority and that states would get to decide what is passed within the state and were voted to be invalid while the Virginia Resolutions published by James Madison proclaimed the acts to be unconstitutional because the states have supreme authority over what is occurring in the state. After this Thomas Jefferson and John Adams will campaign against each other in the election of 1800 in which Thomas Jefferson wins and becomes
  • 16. The Many Forms of English In America we have many immigrants from other countries that come over to America speaking only the language that is known to them. In Mothers Tongue by Amy Tan, she talks about the many kinds of English that she uses to speak with her mother, husband, and people outside her home. Most immigrant children end up learning their parents language, English, and the broken, yet passing English that their parents use. This isn t just exclusive to immigrant homes; many Americans have different forms of English that they use daily. We have the often informal, laidback English we speak with our families, the English we speak to our friends with, which tends to be more slang filled, and the more formal type of English we speak to our colleagues and bosses with. Why do we have these many variants of English and why do we use them, and is one better than the other? In a bilingual home the child is usually the first person to learn English in the home. This usually leads to the parents using the child as a translator or in Amy Tan s story her mother uses her because of the fact that Amy can speak better English than her, My mother has long realized the limitations of her English. When I was fifteen, she used to have me call people on the phone and pretend I was she. (Tan 656). During this time the parents learn their own broken form of English that they can use to communicate with either their children or other people. This leads to the other form of English that Amy Tan
  • 17. Violence In Colonial America The process of colonization in the Americas was a complex and complicated series of events, each driven by the varied interests of an array of European empires. For some, the Americas were a world of untold riches, while for others, this discovery allowed for missionary efforts to convert Native Americans to their faith. Regardless of the reason, violence against the many Native Americans who inhabited this new land was a common colonization tool to achieve these means. Direct violence is the most well known approach, one that Spain wielded so effectively that the Black Legend was created to attest to their cruelty. Yet, the violence used was not all direct in nature. Cultural violence, which England employed itself, was used just as often. Overall, though the Black Legend has led to Spain being viewed as the most violent colonizer in the Americas, England s use of indirect violence through engagement in the fur tradeand missionary efforts was just as destructive to Native Americans. As mentioned above, the concept of violence used in colonization, especially that of the Americas, is usually thought of in only one form. The word conjures images of conquistadores storming villages, officials forcing Natives into slavery, and the brutal killings of those who did not adhere to European rule and religious ideals. This is a direct and vivid form of violence. However, violence in colonization extended into another variety. Indirect violence, which was much more common after

Well, I am going to tell you a little bit more by talking about Marianne Vos being a visionary and ethical leader within the women s peloton. I will talk to you about Marianne being a visionary leader because she uses her cognitive flexibility to change her plans when she needs to as the race goes down. She is also an advancer in women s cycling because she is one of the driving forces behind a new big race. Personally, I would like to be more cognitive flexible than I am now as I experienced it feeling uncomfortable during an airshow. I would also like to be able to step over boundaries as advancers do. As my mentor did when the new enlisted forces structure for the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) was still in the development stage. Marianne is also an ethical leader because she uses her knowledge on Emergent Leadership Issues, in particular about equal opportunity using at least one of Toner s Principles. The three O s apply to her, as she is the biggest champion in women s cycling. Personally, I can relate to the equal opportunity issue due to the fact of how my father always warned me. And when I was asked for the enlisted forces structure, I immediately thought I owed it to my fellow Airman. So hereafter, I

This just goes to show that using memories is inaccurate and repression are sometimes used to deny these accusations. However, even if these people were not using repression, they may be experiencing amnesia due to the traumatic occurrences of these horrendous events that happened during their childhood. Nonetheless, whether the former computer students did lie or truthfully forgot about it, these memories should still not be used to convict people wrongfully without hardcore evidence. To sum up, courts should not use memories of witnesses as a way to imprison those who are charged with a crime. This is because memories tend to be easily influenced and can also contain concealed lies within it. As a result, there is inaccurate information told in the witnesses statements. Furthermore, interviewers include lots of bias in their questions, which eventually screws up the truth since the potential victims are put into too much pressure. The Macroeconomics of Unemployment The Macroeconomics of Unemployment In any economy, no matter whether it is controlled by the government or by free markets, people need to work in order to support it. The government does not generate tax revenue by magic. There have to be people in that economy earning an income to ensure that the government continues to collect taxes. In a free market economy, the same applies because there are some services which only an organized government can supply (such as protection from extra national threats), but there also those which the people get for themselves because of the working of the markets. In any scenario, unemployment is, at the very least, a drag on the economy, and it can be much worse. This paper examines how the unemployment rate in the United States is underreported, and how that fact effects the sluggishness of the present economy. Unemployment is currently measured in the United States by counting those who do not have a job, have actively looked for work in the prior four weeks, and are currently available for work (Leonhardt). This means that a great deal of people are not counted as unemployed because they are discouraged and have not looked for work in the past four weeks. Or, the person was injured in some way and they are not currently available for work. This does not mean that the people in either of these groups do not actually wish to find work, but it does mean that they are not counted because of an archaic system that has been used by

As opposed to principles, we all have our own personal practices and traditions, which determine our behavior in the society. These practices are determined from our culture, society, ancestors, experiences and religion etc. But since we live in a world where every person has their own set of practices and traditions, we cannot expect to live the way we want and this is where rules and principles come in. The need for a conceptual framework As we can understand from above that one person s principle cannot necessarily be another one s too; there needs to be an independent body, which can produce universally acceptable principles to resolve matters systematically and uniformly. When we talk about the introduction of a universal set of principles in the field of accounting, it was the famous stock crash of 1929, which wreaked havoc in the financial markets around the globe and created a situation where the need for generally accepted accounting principles was felt the most! (Lawrence et al, 1993). The resulting economic downturn, which lasted until 1939, was one of the gravest depressions ever recorded in the history and a lack of universal accounting standards was blamed to be one of the reasons for over valuation of stocks and overtrading. Although the depression arose in the United States but output losses, deflation and job cuts were observed all over the globe (Romer, 2003). During the night session of August 4, 1789, the clergy, nobles, and bourgeoisie renounced their privileges; a few days later the assembly passed a law abolishing feudal and manorial prerogatives. The assembly proceeded to grapple with its primary task, the drafting of a constitution. In the constitutional preamble, known in history as the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, the delegates formulated the revolutionary ideals later summarized as Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. While the Constituent Assembly deliberated, the hungry population of Paris, a hotbed of discontent and of rumors of Royalist conspiracy clamored for food and agitated for action. So, to better understand the fundamental principles preceding leadership philosophy, we have to understand the theory of leadership development and its essential characteristics. The leadership theories that are greatest associated with my personal developmental plan are the theory of relationship and transformational leadership. The transformational leadership theory is allied with my personal development plan because it is also known as the transformational leadership model, which emphases on the influences that inspires both the leader and the followers. According to this theory, the main elements or fundamental base is created on vision, trust, power, authenticity, motivation, and communication. This notion of superiority is supported constantly throughout the novel, but never quite so clearly as when Demian demonstrates his inherently stronger will. He somehow scares Kromer, Sinclair s childhood tormentor, away; he stares down the Confirmation class teacher in order to sit wherever he likes. Being so much stronger and bolder than others, he is capable of exerting his will over theirs. This is a product of that which his mark implies.
