Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in Nigeria
Abstract
This report studies sustainable management of natural resources in Nigeria. This it does with the
aim to determine the extent to which the exploration of natural resources is managed in our country
from 1960 till date. Also, given recommendations in which the resources can be managed.
CHAPTER ONE
1.0Introduction
Nigeria is one of those countries in Africa that is fairly rich with natural resources. For example
Crude Oil, Coal, Iron, forest, farming, Fishing and so on. It is believed that natural resources
development is one of the factors that help the country in some many areas like employment
opportunities, economy and so on.
The concept of resource is human centered concept. In order for something to be considered as ...

One fundamental premise for sustainable development is the recognition that environment and
development are not exclusive of one another but are complementary and inter dependent and in the
long run man mutually reinforcing (Ahmad and Sanny 1987). This complexity explains the
difficulty in operational zing the concept of sustainable Development. Yet there has been ever
increasing demand on the limited forest resources and the carrying capably of the fragile forest
ecosystem. Under the conditions of poverty for which Nigeria is known, the environment often
exhibits the ravages of long years of mismanagement as illustrated by high rate of deforestation,
overgrazing, desertification and endangering the forest species. In advanced countries, most forests
are managed but in developing countries like Nigeria, relatively few forests are formally managed.
Much timber production in Nigeria still comes from natural forest. The organized forest
management is the Teak (tectona grandis) plantations in the South West which have been
bastardized by the military administrators of these states in the 90s. Their impact favoured
deforestation. This has generated public pressure to manage forests. With this pressure and with
much timber production, forests are now in demand for other goods and services in fact, the goods
of forest management are broadening. The

Game Related Statistics
Anyone who is a sports fanatic can say that when their team is playing, they will go all out in
cheering and showing their support so that everyone else can see how much their team means to
them. So how does one choose their favorite team? In basketball, there is no argument that fans
stick true to their teams, whether it s because it s their hometown or they have the most valuable
players on the team (MVP) or simply just based on statistics. Whichever way a person decides
which team they ll go for, one thing remains constant; a supporting fan that will always be quick to
defend their team in any situation. Whenever it s basketball season, there is always one question
that arises, Who are you going for? For most the answer is simple, the team... Show more content on

Based on the article by Sampio, Jamie; McGarry, Tim; Calleja Gonzalez, Julio; Saiz, Sergio
Jimenez; Alcazar,Schelling and Balciunas, Mindauhas (2015) One of the most common
methods of monitoring sports performance is using game related statistics to evaluate technical
and tactical behavior . There are people who can rave about a team s overall statistics or just an
individual player, especially when their trying to prove their point in a dispute against an
opposing team fan. Statistics can show evidence in ranking which player is worth talking about.
A person who bases their favorite basketball team by statistics can easily back up their
information by showing numbers. No matter what any other person can throw at them, they will
be quick to mention how many championship rings a player has gotten, or how many
championships a team has won overall. They will have knowledge in their team player s overall
shooting percentage as well as their rebounds, assists and so on. So, if a person is deciding their
basketball team by statistics, they will have a pretty good advantage in always proving their team
as the best by evidence in

Parker 51 Essay
Parker 51
Peace, love and harmony. A saying often used by writers and poets.
People cannot have everything in life, and achieving both peace, love and harmony is rarely
obtainable. In the text, Parker 51, love came alongside war, and the harmony was ruined by peace.
The main character, who goes by the name Rose, loved to play with words, and was convinced that
her love for words could maintain her love for Nat. The year was 1946, and the war was over. The
GI, Nat Racket, was returning to Philadelphia after fighting side by side with the British troops.
Mr. Racket was ready to take Rose with him back to Philadelphia. He was ready to marry her.
Rose loved the thought of establishing a family on the other side of the Atlantic, but was still in
strong doubt. Things happened so fast, and Rose had to think about the ... Show more content on

The pen is the only memory of Nat, that Rose has.
The pen is very important to the story. A pen is often used as a symbol of intellect or destiny. In
this short story, Nat s feelings for Rose is a personification of the pen. Rose ends things with Nat,
but the memory of him and his love for her, still live inside the pen. Later on Roland lost the pen.
This seems to be a way for Roland to get Nat out of Rose s head, and make her focus on him
instead. This is in many ways very selfish and egoistic. As Roland says himself in line 30 page 114

After Roland s death, Rose and her daughter Lily found the pen. Rose offered Lily the pen, but
she just laughed. The pen did not mean anything to Lily, because she did not know anything about
Nat, and Roland was her father. Though, it still had a place in Rose s heart, and after Roland s
funeral, Rose wrote one of her lists.
Rose was holding on to Nat throughout the story, despite the fact, that he was not suitable for her
standards. Roland loved to use the pen, because then he had the power over Rose s feelings for

Lord Of The Flies And The Destructors
I am most interested with the characters in The Destructors written by a British author Graham
Greene. It focuses on a gang of adolescent boys who decide to destroy an old man s house. The
behaviors of these boys remind me of a book I read, Lord of The Flies by William Goldings, it
tells the story of a group of British school boys who are attacked on an airplane during World War
II and they crash on a deserted island. The two stories happen during and after World War II, the
extreme violence and injustice of the war has overwhelmed people at that time, horrific incidents
such as the holocaust have left people questions about religions, authorities and human nature. The
Destructors responses to these questions by suggesting

The Correlation between Crime and Poverty Essay
A violent crime occurs every 23.5 seconds in the United States of America. Even though crime has
been at a low during the past decade, violence is still prevalent in today s society. Most of these
crimes happen in places that are socio economically disadvantaged. There then is the debate of
whether violent crimeis associated with environments struck with poverty. There is a correlation
between violent crimes and poverty because of the unemployment rates in major cities, the culture
of poor areas, and drugs.
There are three components that must be looked at before carrying on. They are: poverty, social
inequality, and relative depravation. Poverty is defined according to an economic standard. The
income deemed necessary to meet basic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These cities are also among the list of cities with the highest rates of unemployment. Los Angeles:
9.2 %, Chicago: 9.1%, New York: 7.9%, to name a few (Statistics).
Why would anyone follow the right way if you see your parents did so and are still jobless? This
is a problem all over the world evident by demonstrations such as the Occupy movement, the
Brazil protests, the protests in Greece, etc. These protestors are still voters and this causes a
divide in a nation, hence the escalated instability and violence. Another big contributor is that of
discrimination. If the majority of the poor in the US are black and brown, and poverty leads to
crime, then most of the criminals will be black and brown. This is the case wherever the criminals
are the poor ones.
It can be argued that the right way is to get an education. Some say education leads to a more
civilized person and in turn the violence is reduced. A free education does not guarantee that a
child will go on to go to college. Some personally do not like the idea of any post secondary
schooling. Others can say that the majority of black and brown criminals suggest problems within
the social structures of those certain ethnic groups. This association with an ethnic group is worse
when the word criminal implies a moral value. The mass incarceration tactics targets the black and
brown population of the US and that is a huge issue.

The Influence Of Moral Panics
Chances are that in a given person s lifetime, they have experienced a number of moral panics
that have in some way affected society. The term moral panic encompasses a wide variety of
events that can be applied to something as severe as a terrorist attack or to a mass media craze,
such as the one over the death of Harambe, the gorilla from Cincinnati. In order for a certain social
pattern to develop into what sociologists would call a moral panic, it must disrupt the operation of
society. The historical American timeline has been greatly influenced by a number of moral panics
that created cultural and structural changes in society. Sociologists started defining public debate
using the social conflict approach. The sociological paradigm concerning

The Dark Matter, By Sir Isaac Newton
The universe is made mostly of dark matter and dark energy, and we don t what either of them is,
a quote by Nobel Prize winning astrophysicist Saul Perlmutter. Dark Matter is currently a
conundrum for modern physicist. Only 4% of our universe is known to us, which means 96% is
still a mystery. This paper will focus on the dark matterthat currently makes up 27% of our current
universe. To understand dark matter, we must understand how we came to identify dark matter.
From there we can understand where it came from, are there certain types of dark matter, the
current theories of dark matter and finally where do we go with our current understanding.

The fact that the stars are confined within the galaxy, even though their vertical velocities are
measured to be high enough, necessitates the presence of unseen mass in the galaxy . Swiss
astronomer, Fritz Zwicky, in 1933 was investigating a galaxy cluster. While making his
investigations in the galaxy cluster at Coma constellation 90 Mega parsecs (one million parsecs)
away and also at the cluster in Virgo constellation and calculated its gravitational mass using the
Virial Theorem. (2T=n{Vtot} He then used the mass luminosity relation of the stars of the
individual galaxies and estimated the mass of the luminous matter in each of the clusters. He
came up with a huge discrepancy between these two masses and predicted the existence of dark
invisible matter. He would call this invisible dark matter, dunkie Materie. At the time of this
proclamation was not widely accepted until a Bullet Cluster was observed. Authors report that the
cluster is undergoing a high velocity (around 4500 km/s) merger, evident from the spatial
distribution of the hot, x ray emitting gas, but this gas lags behind the sub cluster galaxies.
Furthermore, the dark matter clump, revealed by the weak lensing map, is coincident with the
collision less galaxies, but lies ahead of the collisional gas. This and other similar observations
allow good limits on the cross section of the self interaction of dark matter. Now that we have an

The City of Roseburg Roseburg, Oregon, is a small, rural, timber town, located in Douglas County,
within the Umpqua River Valley. It became a notable town when the timber industry took off,
bolstering the city. With a current population around 22.5 thousand people (The City of Roseburg,

Health and Social Support The overall health of the people of Roseburg seems to be on par, with a
few key exceptions. There is a homeless issue within Roseburg, reflective in the data from Douglas
County. The most current information shows that within Douglas County, there are over 400
homeless people, roughly half or which are sheltered, and half are not (State of Oregon, 2010). It is
also shows within Douglas County that 31% of the population are obese, 17% use tobacco
products, and 16% report fair to poor health (County Health Rankings, 2017). Commenting on the
health status of Roseburg, key informants believe that there are issues surrounding obesity, drug
use, and homelessness, especially homeless youth. Fortunately, there are multiple health and
wellness services that can be accessed by the people of Roseburg.
Access to Services The physical observation of Roseburg revealed numerous health related
facilities. There is a major hospital and well as a veteran s hospital, both with emergency services,
urgent care facilities, and many clinics, rehab facilities, and long term care options. In terms of the
populations access to services, 14.8% do not have health insurance (U.S. Census Bureau, 2016).
Fortunately, information garnered from key informants shows that there are options for these

Lgbtc Reflection Paper
LGBTQ I would say that my views on the LGBTQ community haven t really changed, but rather,
I ve gotten a better picture of what LGBTQ experiences are outside of my own cluster of friends
who identify within the LGBTQ community. As a high school student, my LGBTQ wasn t a big
deal. I wanted to confirm this fact and asked the few friends I knew from my hometown that had
been out in in high schoolwhat their experiences were like. They had been afraid to come out
because they knew other students that had run into issues in rural districts, but like the You ve Got
to Talk Him Out of It article by Nicholas Pace said, we should remember that our school might
surprise us (Pace 39).
Gender Gender has always been a hot button topic for me. I ve experienced, first hand,
discrimination that occurs based on gender, but this semester has taught me a lot more about
gender than I expected. Thanks to the discussions on LGBTQ and gender, I understand that
while the topics overlap, the idea of sexual orientation, sex, and gender are very different things.
In the Who Said It? article, written by Jessica Press, it is stated that, even before you re born,
doctors can tell if you re a boy or a girl based on your body that s your sex. But your gender falls
along a spectrum. We hold onto these categories of being masculine or feminine, but there are
degrees inbetween (Press 16). Gender has too many stereotypes associated with it and I think it s
vitally important to help our future students deconstruct those stereotypes.
Race I would say that I still have a lot to learn when it comes to racial bias and racial issues. This
semester taught me how to understand and work through implicit bias. Before this semester, I
didn t know what implicit bias was, but I understood the concept because I was able to recognize
my thoughts when situations occurred. I ve spent a long time worrying that I was racist and that
I wouldn t be able to overcome that part of me that I ve never meant to have. I m not sure if I m
supposed to be comforted by the fact that I can now give that feeling a name, or not. It s nice to
know I m not crazy, but more importantly, I now have more knowledge on the subject so that I can

An Organism s Capacity Regulate Gene Expression
First, you will summarize the relevant background that leads up to the hypothesis to be tested in
this paper.
An organism s capacity to regulate gene expression in the response to ecological elements, for
instance, nourishments levels and oxygen accessibility is basic for survival. Taking to account that
sirtuin genes act to regulate protein expression by two distinct mechanisms: deacetylation of
histones proteins, leading to tighter chromatin packaging and therefore decreased transcription; or
deacetylation of various other proteins, leading to inactivation. The first experiment implicating
sirtuin genes in aging was done in yeast cells. This experiment showed, overexpression of sir2
protein in yeast led to an increase in lifespan. From ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later, researchers integrated geEx1 (geIn1, geIn2) and geEx2 (geIn3), which had an increase in sir
2.1 compared to N2. These integrated lines showed the same lifespan as extrachromosomal arrays.
Authors then conclude, as in yeast, expanding the dose of a SIR2 gene augments the lifespan of C.
elegans.
Research further knocked down daf 16 to examine if sir2.1 augments the lifespan by causing
mutations in the insulin like signalling pathway, which is suppressed by daf 16. The findings
showed, animals, which did not have daf 16, lived shorter. Researchers then conclude, sir 2.1,
requires DAF 16 for lifespan extension. Also, it appears to function in the insulin signaling pathway
shown to regulate aging and dauer formation in C. elegans. .
в—Џ Identify and discuss the underlying assumptions that must be true in order for either the
conclusion and/or experimental evidence to be sound and valid.
One of the underlying assumptions is, aging is regulated by genes, and overexpression of sir2 in
yeast leads to an increase in lifespan. Another assumption is, aging is a universal and genuine
process and its mechanisms are conserved in all organisms. Consequently, researchers specifically
examined the dosage of sir2 proteins in C.elegans. Moreover, it is also assumed that all the animals
tested, are under

Peruvian Economic System
2.1. Ecosystem Services in the Peruvian Andes
Nowadays, worldwide economy has behaved in a very explosive and surprising manner. Specially
in developing countries, the local economy has faced a great challenge for the people towards
globalization. In South America, Peru is a traditional country trying to fit its customs and
techniques in agriculture with the fixed and aggressive markets of the world. According to Javier
Escobal and Denice Cavero (2014), Peruvian national statistics indicate that the country has
experienced persistent economic expansion recently (annual growth averaging over 5% during the
last 15 years). However, poverty has not been reduced, specially in rural areas, where it affects two
of every three inhabitants. Commonly, people within this marginal regions, have practiced
agriculture as a profession and as a tradition since ages.
According to Erin Lennox and John Gowdy (2014), the Peruvians have created and maintained their
agricultural system in the Peruvian Andes over many generations using local and ancestral
techniques. Over thousands of years, the Peruvian farmers have used these methods in their favor

Reading And Writing Of Reading
Are reading and writing connected? Reading and writing have always been strong elements, in our
lives, studies have shown that reading affects writing and vise versa. Stephen King said, If you
could put together a model car or assemble a piece of furniture from directions you could write a
sentence . He states the importance of two powerful elements, reading and writing, and by putting
them together we could make something out of them. I can come to terms with the fact that
reading and writing are the key elects to many opportunities although it has not always been easy to
convey. Reading and writing together are both the path to improving our vocabulary and expanding
of our knowledge, even though certain people will argue differently, and say that only one (reading
or writing) of them is the key element.
First, the important connection that reading and writing has to our vocabulary is that we expand
our mind and our words as well. Elements like reading and writing are both major factors on
what someone can accomplish, reading helps us become better writers in writing an essay or even
a book. It also starts from the time we start going to school, that we learn how to read and write,
how to sound our consonants and vowels. Instilling in us from the beginning the importance of
reading and writing; are our teachers, preparing us for our future, academically and in the
workforce. Roseanne Rocha Tavares once said, In recent years many authorities have called for the

Urinary Incontinence And Its Effects On Women
Approximately seventy percent of people experience urinary incontinence (UI) as a result of being
admitted into the hospital. Urinary incontinence is more prevalent in elderly people, and
predominantly affects women more often than men. Urinary incontinence can be is described as the
uncontrolled loss of urine, and can be broken down into five different types. The first type of urinary
incontinenceis stress incontinence, which occurs when there is involuntary emission of urine due
to coughing, sneezing, or applying any increased pressure to the abdominal region. The second
type is urge incontinence, which is when a person has a strong need to void, the bladder then
spasms, and the person experiences a spontaneous loss of urine. The third type of incontinence
that a person may experience is referred to as mixed incontinence. A person may experience a
combination of symptoms from any of the five types of incontinence. The fourth type of
incontinence is overflow incontinence. Typically a person s bladder fills completely, often without
the urge to void, resulting in urinary dribbling. Lastly, there is functional incontinence. During this
type of incontinence a person is generally aware of the urge to void, but due to some physical or
mental deficit, a person has the inability to make it to the restroom. This poses many problems for
both the patient and for the hospitals. As the numbers for UI continue to rise, the risk for falls will

Taking a Look at Holden s Inmaturity
Catcher in The Rye Essay
Holden s Immaturity Holden is just a young man, but he is going through a very cruel and
unforgiving world that will change him forever. He overcomes many obstacles and barley gets
out of it with his sanity still in tact. Holden is a different kind of person and he is just not wired
like everybody else. He is represented as an outsider that is clearly different. Holden can change
in his views quickly and they can stay that way for quite a long time. Holden in the beginning is
very very innocent, and doesn t exactly know how bad of a place the world is and know how bad
people can become. Holden is also very immature and doesn t understand what he is doing wrong in
being immature. Holden has many emotions and views that he does not exactly know how to deal
with, or when to deal with. He has certain views that are very hypocritical and immature. He thinks
that he wants to do something, that in the end he would only regret, and he never does do these
things, but the fact that he thinks about it clearly shows off his immaturity. Holden fails to grow
up, and that hurts him throughout the novel multiple times causing, ultimately his path to be very
different than he expected. In J.D. Salinger Catcher in the Rye, the main character, Holden
Caufield, is fails to evolve maturely throughout the whole novel, regarding women, thinking out his
actions, and killing. Holden has very hypocritical and wrong views about women and taking

Energy Drinks In Sports Drinks
Problem and Purpose
The problem is that many people use and rely on sports drinks, many of which contain high
levels of calories coming from sugar. This is a problem not only due to the many headlines on
the obesity epidemic in this country, especially in regards to children, and how too many people
eat too much sugar and this leads to major health problems like obesity and diabetes. I and many
others use these beverages to refuel from an activity and feel more hydrated or just to enjoy, so I
wanted to test these products and other beverages to determine which of the beverages contain the
highest concentration of electrolytes. The purpose of this project is to see if there is the ability to
gain enough electrolytes without the need to use a beverage with high sugar/calorie content.
Hypothesis My hypothesis is that the beverages with the most electrolytes would have the least
amount of calories and the beverages with the least electrolytes will have the most calories
because calories in beverages are usually from sugar while electrolytes are made up of salt,
calcium, potassium. I think this because usually when something is salty (what electrolytes are
made of) it would be less sugary (what calories are made of) and vice versa.
Background Research
A great many athletes will drink a sports/electrolyte drink after an activity or workout, while others
will just drink these to enjoy or to feel more hydrated. In most of these situations the person

Visual arts took on the rococo style during the Enlightenment period. Gardens of the rococo type

Rose and pastel colors were popular throughout the era in paintings and decorations. Jean Honore

amazing pieces of work such as the Arch of Triumph in Paris (at the end of the period). Leonardo s

Jean de Meun. The manuscript was written somewhere between 1351 and 1375 in France. This
version of the Roman de la rose is located in the National Library of France in Paris. The manuscript
can be identified by the number btv1b6000307m. The author s art is located on folio 1 recto and
it takes up the whole page with the painting being mostly on the top half of the page with text and
two small pictures on the lower half. The artist chose to use red and blue paints as well as gold tin
for the medium.
This portrait is related to the manuscript because the manuscript is a love story about a man who
loves a woman named Rose but is walled off from seeing her and guards are sent to protect her
from him, and in the portrait, Rose is seen lying down on a bed with a guard watching over her.
And on the outside of the wall is the man who loves her standing on top of a building with a love
arrow through his hand. Rose is not only portrayed by the women of whom the man loves but it is
also portrayed by the flowers the curl on the vines in the background. This is one of many
illuminations located in this text; however, this is the one with the most detail. This painting unlike
the others in the manuscript is large and very detailed, where the others are all small and

Comparison Of Jane Austen s Sense And Sensibility
On December 16, 1775, Jane Austen was born in Steventon, Hampshire, England. She was born
into a middle class family. Her father was Reverend George Austen, a member of the clergy, and
her mother was Cassandra Leigh who came from a higher social rank. Jane was the second
daughter of a family of eight, and she was closest to the eldest sister Cassandra. From this
information alone, there is a pattern present in Jane s work. She tends to write romance fiction
novels about middle class England. Her characters in Sense and Sensibilityare generally from the
middle class, and the main characters are females and siblings. Likewise, the eldest sister has
amiable traits, and the younger sibling admires her as Jane views her eldest sister in real... Show

Inheritance is a very important topic in Sense and Sensibility since Jane stresses how Mr. John
Dashwood acquires all of Mr. Dashwood s money after his death while his sisters get nothing.
Jane s cousin, Elizabeth Hancock, married a French aristocrat by the name of Jean Capotte. In
Sense and Sensibility, marriage is a highly relevant factor in society, for marriage determines
stability and wealth. Hence, Willoughby marries Miss Grey rather than Marianne, the woman he
loves, due to Miss Grey s fortune. Meanwhile, Mrs. Ferrars abandons her son, Edward Ferrars,
after he marries a woman without fortune. Although Jane almost married Harris Big Wither, Jane
and Cassandra both remained unmarried. Additionally, there are aspects of Jane s life that may
have contributed to her career as a writer. Anne Lefroy was an important friend of Jane Austen. Also
known as Madam Lefroy, she was a writer, fond of literature, and kind to the poor (Kelly).
Subsequently, she encouraged [Jane s] intellectual development and may have influenced Jane s
occupation as a writer (Kelly). Within the Austen household, reading was a common way to
pass the time, so one family member would read aloud to the rest. A person s ability to read
aloud was considered a valuable skill. In the same way, Jane s characters in Sense and Sensibility
compare and judge each other by skill set, which includes one s ability to read with passion and
style. The characters may also judge

The Privilege Of Attending The Bush House Museum
I had the privilege of attending the Bush House Museum here in Salem. I went on Sunday
November 20, 2016 and wanted to go because the house was built in the Victorian era. I ve always
been quite intrigued with the Victorian era overall. That includes architecture, people, and the
culture. The Bush House belonged to Asahel BushII (1824 1913) became editor and publisher of
The OregonStatesman newspaper in 1851, and later served as state printer. He lived in the house
with Eugenia Zieber Bush (1833 1863) and his four children, Estelle (1856 1942), Asahel (1858
1953), Sally (1860 1946) and Eugenia (1862 1932). Later in 1863, Bush s wife died at age 39
with Tuberculosis and so the children only lived with him after that while later moving forth
with their own lives as adults. However, I have declined to provide a ticket due to this following
reason: my good colleague, Karen Howard and I got lost trying to locate the Bush House Museum.
We finally arrived at 1:20 and graciously waited for the tour guideto come to the door after we rang
the bell. She came out and we explained to her that we lost our way in trying to find the house.
We told her we intended to come for the 1pm tour. Thankfully, we did not have to wait for the
2pm tour and she took us right in. After, we finished the guided tour, she said we did not even
need to come back and prove to her that we bought tickets, she said we simply needed to pay the
admission price at the nearby art gallery. When we went to go

humans who developed and evolved during this time 2 million years ago
were called homo erectus, or another name for upright human. They evolved
in east Africa, and they also made tools that specialized in various tasks,
those tools included handheld axes cleavers, even scrapers. The homo
erectus lived in larger groups so they could cooperate in hunting and
gathering even food preparation. It was also found later by archeologist that

How Does Capote Describe The Town Holcomb
Although, Capote writes about a monumental murder he focuses in on how graceful Holcomb is
before the murder; therefore, Capote verbalizes even if a town is safe it can be threatening
anywhere. Capote uses literary devices such as anaphora to describe the town Holcomb to give
readers a comprehension on how Holcomb acted before the chaos began. In the beginning of the
book Capote reports Holcomb town as, Like the waters of the river, like the motorists on the
highway, and like the yellow streaking down the Santa Fe tracks, drama, in the shape of
exceptional happenings, has never stopped there (Capote 5). Life in Holcomb was as if the town
had its own little world and nothing from the outside mattered. Holcomb was just a small, quiet
town in the middle of nowhere. Capote wants people to know how separated Holcomb town was

Prudential Reasoning Patient s Perspective. The infant (child to Kelly and her husband, Dan) is
clearly unable to act as a moral agent. The infant is only a few days old and obviously unable to

agents and have a crucial role in decision making for the infant. The parents are responsible for
making decisions for the good of the child s treatment, but decisions can be overridden. They are
also responsible for releasing, if they choose to, the infant s medical information. It is unknown if
the parents would approve for Jan (neighbor/friend/nurse at Memorial Hospital) to view the

it is morally unethical for others to view. Only the health professionals responsible for the care and
treatment of the infant can and should access the chart. Jan s Perspective. Jan has been an

new to patient privacy laws and HIPPA. She may be curious and worried about her neighbor s

Choosing Two Non Developmental Theories
Select two non developmental theories (or nursing conceptual models applicable to family nursing)
that help you understand an aspect of family functioning that you have noted in your work with
your select family. For each of the two theories, describe its core concepts, then discuss why it
explains the healthy (or not so healthy) functioning of your family. Support with examples. Based
on the theories and models I reviewed the first non developmental theories that have helped assist
me in understanding my family is the Structural Functional Theory. According to Friedman,
Bowden, and Jones (2003), the Structural Functional framework is built on the basis that family
represents a social system and therefore you must examine a families interactions within their
societal construct (p.70). Identifying how a family interacts with one another and how their
relationships with healthcare providers, schools, family, members of society, and other

Friedman et al., (2003) this approach characterizes the family as open to outside influences, yet at
the same time, is concerned with maintaining its boundaries (p.70). Thus, allowing adaptability
among the family units as an individual institution in their society. The theories primary
assumptions include a family as a social system that has functional requirements and that function

Changes in Customary Land Administration and Building Synergy in Pluralistic Institutional
Environment in Sub Sahara Africa: Examining the Impact of the Land Administration Projects
(LAP) in Ghana
Research Background and Problem
Plurality of institutions is a unique feature of the land administration system in Africa. This system
is characterized by the operations of traditional landholding institutions that have been in existence
and has been holding land time immemorial on ground of ancestry together with statutory
established formal land agencies that is required to complement efforts of the former. Traditional
institutions in some countries continue to play key role in the system, despite widespread

It is argued that multiple institutional and legal structures could bring about contradictions and
insecurity regarding whose rights count, whose rights will be supported in the event of a contest,
and which decision making structures are paramount resulting in institution shopping (Toulmin,
2009). In Ghana, the pluralism systems are poorly articulated and has been the cause of growing
contradiction and conflict (Kasanga and Kotey, 2001). This can be substantiated by studies from
Yeboah and Shaw (2011) that find the traditional institutions are making makeshift plans in order to
sell lands even without the knowledge of the appropriate planning authority. Also, Biitir and Nara
(2016) finds that land governance in Ghana is hampered by lack of cooperation and collaboration
between these institutions. The state of the pure distinct operations of the customary and statutory
land tenure institutions therefore denies synergistic effect (Cousin and Hornby, 2005).
In the wake of the aforementioned factors and address resulting problems, previous and present
governments of Ghana have made attempts to streamline the system through land policies and
projects. The Land Administration Projects (LAP) is currently being implemented (Government of
Ghana, 2008). This

The Kingdom Of Heaven And Jesus s Mission On Earth
One dominant study from the New Testament has been The Kingdom of Heaven as it is believed
to be the central theme within the novel and Jesus s mission on earth. The phrase Kingdom of
Heaven is supposed to be the Kingdom of God, in which those who are spiritual believe in his
existence in their hearts leaving this kingdom as the place where God is unfolding his divine
plans (Walvoord, 2015). Christians believe that God is the creator of all things and sovereign over
the universe however the Islamic faith believe that God sent prophets to teach his laws and one
was Muhammad. Christian texts represent the concept of the Kingdom of Heaven to be the
exercise of God s power and dominion. The Christian faith in contrast to Islamic beliefs, ow sacred
texts are interpreted with parables, how they represent beliefs and how religious founders taught
will be discussed throughout this essay.
The Bible is a sacred texts to religions such as Christianity, it not only holds stories and rules or
expectations to follow but hidden messages from God about the Kingdom of Heaven. The Parable
of the Sower represents four different ways the word of God from the Kingdom of Heaven can be

Common Cold Recovery
The runny nose, the painfully scratchy throat, and clammy body are all common symptoms of
the common cold, a sickness that almost everyone has experienced in their lifetime. A cough
heard in the cold weather is normal and even expected, but what if one never had to deal with
problems like these again? Or if they did only have them with a fraction of the severity and a
much quicker recovery time? By following three simple and very effective steps, one can
recover more quickly from a cold and possibly avoid catching one altogether. Some of the best
ways include following certain, specific hygienic protocols, eating the proper, nutrient rich foods,
and most importantly of all, resting. First, we all must remember to be clean, which includes
washing one s hands regularly. By washing hands regularly using warm water, soap, and a little

things happen while we sleep, such as the encoding long term memories. The repair of tissues and

once it fights its way into our bodies, begins the task of injecting its own DNA into our cells, not

Apple owes 14.5 billion in back taxes to Ireland
On Tuesday, August 30 the European Union ordered Ireland to collect 14.5 billion in taxes from
apple. Europe s competition enforcer said that apple s deal with the Irish allowed the company to
pay basically nothing on its business. This deal allowed apple to pay only 50 euros for every

lowest in the developed world. This low tax rate is a huge incentive for companies to cut down on

Charles Dickens Hard Times Essay
Charles Dickens Hard Times
There are a huge variety of characters in Hard Times, ranging from the good to the unnaturally
cruel. The novel is full of extremity in its characterisation; cruel, bitter and selfish characters such as
Mrs.
Sparsit contrast dramatically with characters such as Stephen
Blackpool and Rachael, who are benevolent and altruistic. Among the cruellest and most villainous
characters in the novel is James
Harthouse, who is completely ammoral, and therefore rendered very dangerous by Dickens. Josiah

Stephen, though kind and giving, does not seem happy in his life. He, like Harthouse, seems to
have little motivation. However, in contrast to Harthouse, who has no morals and thus no
motivation, Stephen has been continuously ground down by life; physically and mentally worn by
the constraints of a working class existence. He seems to have subconsciously given up even
trying to pursue his right for a better life, accepting his situation with a kind of quiet submission.
In a way, Stephen s kindness is partly to blame for his unhappiness. It could be argued that he hasn
t fought hard enough for the things he wants; for example, he is not actually a member of the
worker s union.
Stephen has a tendency to seem meek and quite passive. He seems gentle but is often depicted with
too much sentimentality. It is almost frustrating the way that Stephen simply accepts that he cannot
be with
Rachael, and must remain in a loveless marriage, when it is clear that he is unhappy (though of
course, moral conventions differed in

Ronald Wilson Reagan As government expands, liberty contracts (Ronald Reagan Quotes). Those
who know anything about Modern Politics in the United States know that Ronald Reagan is the
poster child and founder of today s Conservatism. Today s Conservatism is at its core a hybrid
between the Conservatism of Theodore Roosevelt and that of the Libertarianism of Thomas
Jefferson. Libertarians believe that the Central or Federal government should be as small as
possible. As shown in the opening quote from Ronald Reagan he firmly believed that to keep the
freedom entitled to us by the Bill of Rights, the People must constrict government to give them
as minimal amount of power as possible. Ronald Reagan is certainly a controversial figure in the
face of politics. Democrats despise him and Republicans try to mimic his policies on both
foreign and domestic stages. Ronald Wilson Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in a small

frozen organic carrot juice during pregnancy and bottled water after giving birth. The second
group drank the bottled water during pregnancy and the carrot juice after. The control group
drank the water for both periods (Mennella, Jagnow, Beauchamp, 2001, p. 3). Consuming the
drinks had to be done during a specific time of day for four days a week for three weeks of their
last trimester, and the first two months after giving birth. The participants could not drink carrot
juice other than from the experiment, or eat carrots. This was reinforced by keeping a log of what
they ate and drank during the period of the study. The participants in the groups were roughly
around the same age. The sex ratio and body mass index of the infants were not too different. The
major difference was the body mass index of the male infants was higher than that of female infants

The Significance of Nazi Propaganda under Hitler s Rule Essay
The Significance of Nazi Propaganda under Hitler s Rule
The appointment of Adolf Hitler as chancellor of Germany in 1933 should, in theory, have been
nothing more than merely a change of administration. However, from the start of their seizure of
power the Nazis were prepared to apply this power in revolutionary ways. (Fest, 1974, p.373). In
the elections of 1933 that resulted in Hitler s chancellorship, the Nazi party only managed to gain
43.9% of the vote; yet by 1939 they had the support of the majority of the German population. There
has been much debate during the last fifty years, questioning how Nazism managed not only to have
initially attained their power, but also, how they managed to ... Show more content on

Moreover, underlying all of these arguments is the existence of terror and repression within the
regime which cannot be ignored if attempting to ask why Hitler was able to maintain power from
1933 39.
Following the Nazi seizure of power in 1933, Joseph Goebbels, the head of the newly formed
Ministry of Propaganda, stressed how important it was to centrally control propaganda. He said
It is not enough for people to be more or less reconciled to our regime, to be persuaded to adopt a
neutral attitude toward us; rather we want to work on people until they have capitulated to us, until
they grasp ideologically that what is happening in Germany today not only must be accepted but
also can be accepted. (Lee, 1998, p.33)
According to David Welch, Goebbels attempted to do this through four propaganda themes. Firstly
appeal to national unity and attempt to promote the idea of a people s community
(Volksgemeinschaft); secondly attempt to establish a FГјhrer cult (FГјhrerprinzip); thirdly, closely
linked with the idea of a people s community was the idea of a need to establish racial purity, and
finally propaganda would be used to direct hatred towards the Jews and the Bolsheviks (The Third
Reich Politics and Propaganda, 1995, p.52). Whilst all of these aims have a significant part to play

The Mystery Behind King Tut Essay
The Mystery Behind King Tut; Life and Death of the Boy King.
By all accounts, King Tutankhamun ascended to the throne at the tender young age of 9 years,
inheriting a tumultuous populace after the reign of the radical Pharaoh, Akhenaten. The young
king s reign was cut short when he died prematurely, when he was around 19 years of age, leaving
no surviving son to follow as his successor.
For 3 000 or so years following his death, Tutankhamun remained an elusive figure, with little
detail about his life. With the discovery of his tomb in 1922 by Archaeologist Howard Carter, the
mystery only deepened.
The most burning question; how did he die?
British Egyptologist and Archaeologist, Carter found Tutankhamun buried in a lavish tomb crammed

Tut, who had dies over 3, 000 years ago, is not about to give up his secrets easily, and we are left
to resort to science and technology to solve the mystery. There are three recurring theories that try
to explain his death; chariot accident, illness, or, more sinisterly, murder.
The murder theory inflamed when the first x ray test of the mummy in 1968 indicated an inter
cranial bone fragment lodged within the skull suggesting a blow to the death. Pharaohs were
regarded as living Gods, even more than the political and religious leader, and to kill the Pharaoh
was inconceivable. Throughout history, there are very few instances that record a Pharaoh being
assassinated, and in Tut s case too the murder theory was discarded when conclusive evidence
emerged that showed that the damage had been done after the mummification.
Unfortunately, Tut s mummy sustained heavy damage when Carter attempted to remove the body
from the confining space which housed it. Further damage occurred when the death mask, which
had stuck to the face and torso was removed. Therefore it is difficult to say that the extensive bone
damage had occurred when Tut was alive, the result of a devastating

Broadcasting Decision Rtc Case Summary
Case Summary of Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004 271
Founded in 1996, Genex Communications, Inc. is a Quebec City based private broadcasting
group with interests in the sports, radio, web property, and indoor advertising industries
(Bloomberg, 2017). From 1997 to 2004, the company owned CHOI FM QuГ©bec, Quebec City
s most popular radio station (Ha, 2004). After its first license to operate CHOI FM concluded in
August 2001, Genex was questioned by the CRTC over its failure to honour conditions of the
license, such as keeping logger tapes and meeting the quota for French language music. A high
volume of public complaints (47 from 1997 to 2001) also led the CRTC to establish that CHOI
FM aired abusive comment, offensive on air contests, personal ... Show more content on

Genex was also fully aware of the potential consequences of ignoring its license requirements or
broadcast law. Public complaints against the broadcaster had quadrupled. Abusive content on
CHOI FM violated both the law and the conditions of Genex s license, and it was not an honest
mistake; instead it reflected a pattern of behaviour ... that continued and grew even worse over
... two consecutive license terms despite clear, unequivocal warnings from the Commission, the
CBSC and even ... [Genex s] own advisory committee (CRTC, 2004). Genex had done nothing to
censure its most abusive morning talk show hosts, Fillion and AndrГ© Arthur; instead, it gave
them even bigger roles. Genex s proposed changes were unsatisfactory and its senior executives
did not recognize their legal responsibility for the actions of CHOI FM participants. The CRTC
decided that giving Genex a legal order to follow the Radio Regulations, or temporarily
suspending its license to operate CHOI FM, would not be good solutions because Genex showed
no sign of realizing its mistakes and duties or making real changes in the future. For all of these
reasons, the CRTC decided not to renew Genex s license at all, and the company lost all rights to

Core Values Of Equality And Social Justice In American...
The core values of equality and social justice in American society have changed significantly over
the last decades. The once dignified country that upholds both its traditional core values are now
eroding through the systemic unjust laws, which favors the affluent ones. In consequence, there is
an uneven distribution of power and wealth in the United States, where some become extremely
powerful and rich, while the others become miserably poor and vulnerable. This serious
ramification can be seen in the widespread concerns among the Wall Street executives and the
middle lower class people. According to The Divide by Matt Taibbi and the documentary Inside
Job, white collar Wall Street offenders are more likely to get away with their crimes even though
they perpetrate profitable felony such as corporate fraud, whilst the blue collar offenders get... Show

Slowly but steadily, this then widen the current divide in the American society in which the
wealthy get more privileges despite the crimes they committed; and the impecunious get more
oppressed, furthering the gap between the rich and the poor. Under prosecution of white collar
criminals and over prosecution of street criminals are, therefore, degrading the American core
values of equality and social justice in addition to the elite level crime offenders being treated and
seen as more socially acceptable than the low level crime offenders. White collar crimes possessed
future horrific harms and consequences to our nation, especially in the financial spectrum; yet, the
society s main concerns laid on street crimes because of their physical and immediate effects. It is
important to note, however, that no crime is better than the other. Even though the impact of white

Free Trade And International Trade
Free trade occurs when there are no artificial blockades put in place by governments to restrict the
flow of goods and services between trading countries. When trade barriers, such as tariffs and
subsidies are put in place, they protect domestic producers from international competition and
redirect, rather than create trade flows. This results in less productivity and competition. Free Trade
promotes international trade, multilateralism, and the development of lesser developed nations and
increases the standard of living. American opulence rests on the framework of global trade. Free
trade guidelines have created a level of contest in today s open market that produces persistent
innovation and leads to better commodities, better paying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The destruction created by these protectionist tariffs led succeeding U.S. administrations to
support free trade after World War II. Americans today do not sew their own clothes, grow their
own food, build their own houses, or buy only products made in their own states. It would simply
cost too much, since Americans can acquire such items on the open market with comparative
comfort and usually for cheaper prices. It makes economic sense to buy a product from another
who specializes in such production or who can make it more easily or for less cost. This does
mean that your local producers will have to compete with international competition and job
protection is not granted. Free trade encourages competition, spurring companies to innovate and
develop better products and to bring more of their goods and services to market, keeping prices low
and quality high in order to retain or increase their market share. Since companies must compete
with their overseas counterparts, American firms can take note of all the successes as well as the
failures that take place in the global marketplace. Free trade also spurs innovation. The U.S. market
has demonstrated repeatedly, particularly over the last decade, that competition leads to increasing
innovation. This is unmistakable, for example, in the intense competition to create the latest
personal computer at the lowest cost. In fact, America

Similarities And Differences In The Princess Bride By...
William Goldman wrote an epic book called The Princess Bride. The Princess Bride tells a story
of a Beautiful lady who sworn not to love again after her true love is presumed dead. The book and
the movie, The Princess Bride, have many interesting similarities and differences. The differences
outnumber the similarities by a long shot.
Like many movies that have been made from books, The Princess Bride did not follow the book
closely. One of the similarities tho is that Buttercup thinks that Westly has died. In the book and in
the movie she finds out by hearing that the ship he was on was captured by the Dread Pirate
Robinson who takes no prisoners. Another similarity is that The Man in Black battles both The
Spaniard and the giant. As in the Book and the movie he fights the Spaniard (Inigo Montoya) and
the Giant (Fezzik) in the same way. One more similarity is that he outsmarts the Sicilian (Vizzini).
Just like the book the movie has the man in Black outsmarting Vizzini by putting the poison in both
cups. There are many more similarities but even then in the similarity, there are differences.... Show

One of the differences is what s in the water when she jumped in. In the book when she jumped
in Vizzini told her that there were sharks in the water. In the movie tho there are water shrieking
eels in the water with her. Another dissimilarity was before each fighting scene on the cliffs. In
the novel before the fight with Inigo, they went into his background, but in the movie, they did
not. Also in the book that was not in the movie was the background of Fezzik before his fight
with the man in black. One more difference is how it was told. In the book, it is the father of the
young boy who basically just cut and pasted the good parts of the original book and made the
story that we have in the book. In the movie the little boy is sick and the grandfather is reading the
good parts of the original book to

The Numbers And Counting System In Ancient Egypt
Numbers and counting systems are used daily by everyone. Numerous civilizations throughout
history like Egypt, Babylonian, Maya and Africa developed a unique number system. They were
commonly used to communicate numbers in an everyday life. Since then counting has changed. A
few of the earlier systems had principles that survived and helped in some way, shape or form to
create our current Hindu Arabic numbering system. It has become widespread. Back in 3000 B.C,
ancient Egypt was using the numbersystem to calculate areas of land, distribute money, and much
more. The Egyptian counting system consisted of hieroglyphs and pictorial signs. The graphic
numbers can be of a person, animal, or plant. The hieroglyphic numbers were a written form of
the number system. It used a decimal base approach. For all the powers of ten, there was a unique
symbol. For example, the number ten was represented as a upside down U , for the number a
hundred thousand it was tadpole, for a million it was represented by a man kneeling with his arms
raised. When reading or writing the number, it is written from right to left. It was written on
temples, vases, and stone monuments. The Egyptians used hieroglyphic numbers to advance in
architectural achievements. Math was used to make historical creations like tombs and pyramids.
Greenwald and Thomley agree that the ancient Egyptians were also aware of fractions, which were
primarily written as unit fractions of the form 1вЃ„n, such as 1вЃ„2or 1вЃ„4...

You will need your marshmallow and stick for this part, but keep your other ingredients nearby.
Making s mores is an outdoor activity, in which you must construct a fire. Building a fire might
seem like a lot of work, but to me it is all the fun. After you have constructed your fire, use your
stick to puncture through the center of the marshmallow, make sure it secure. Once the
marshmallow is in place you should now angle your stick and marshmallow over the flame, and
let it begin t roast over the open flame. You may roast the marshmallow to your liking. If you
want to ensure the marshmallow is evenly cooked, you may want to rotate your stick while
holding it over the flame. Now that you have roasted your marshmallow, you are one step closer
to enjoying your tasty s more. For the finale step, you will combine the rest of the components of
a s more. From your ingredients, you will need your roasted marshmallow, one small piece of
chocolate, and two square graham crackers. Place the small piece of chocolate alongside a graham
crackers, then place the roasted marshmallow between the cholate and remaining cracker. If you
squeeze the grow graham crackers together, the warmth of the roasted marshmallow will melt down
the chocolate, ensuring the best flavor. Now, that you have put everything together completed the
process of making a s more, you can finally reward yourself, by digging into the delicious

Essay on An Annotation of Wallace Stevens Of Modern Poetry
An Annotation of Wallace Stevens Of Modern Poetry
In Of Modern Poetry, Stevens describes the purpose of modern poetry given what the audience
knows and values. Modern poetry must be different from traditional poetry, because people of his
time perceive themselves and their world differently than the people of earlier times. Stevens
suggests that war, like other changes, have affected what people believe. Poetry must reflect to its
audience what they want to hear. It must show them that the order, meaning and value they need is
real, in so much as their minds both need it and can create it.

Stevens first points out how modern poetry differs from traditional poetry. The implication is that
people are now questioning some fundamental aspects of intellectual constructs that used to be
considered necessary and true. In particular Stevens questions tradition of reading the book of
nature, of starting with religious presumptions and assuming nature communicates these ideas to
humans. Other traditions had changed as well thoughts about the social roles of men and women
and social propriety; thoughts about religious values and scientific discovery; nature and purpose of
communication resulting from new inventions. These changes sometimes reflected, sometimes
caused the development of new values. The rest of the poem records the change that occurs after
traditional assumptions are uprooted.
The past was a souvenir because once people realized that certain traditions could be changed,
they had no reason to believe those traditions had to be the standard. Like a souvenir, the scene
and the script became only a reminder of where people had been, it has no practical use for the
present. Once people conceived of a new stage, a new script, a new way of thinking, it had to be
experimented with. They valued experimentation, because they did not have a required standard.
They valued finding

The Chaser By John Collier
Each story is unique in their own way. For each piece of literature, a name is to be branded for
the piece of work. Titles are more often than none looked over, the reader anxious to flip through
the pages of words. However, for some pieces of literature, the title of the story is the most
fundamental part of the process in trying to understand a story. The short storyThe Chaser by John
Collier is an excellent example as to why overlooking the title can be a great taboo. This story
describes a desperate man s attempts to make the loveof his life love him back by a love potion.
However, through the lines of the text, the old potion seller was hinting that further on in his
consumer s life, he would realize he had made a grave mistake.

Who Is David Adjaye Sunken House
Sunken House Analysis
One of the things that most architects strive to achieve in their work is to make it stand out and
really add to its location s surroundings. This was definitely accomplished by David Adjaye in his
Sunken House project. In 2007, Adjaye designed a house for photographer Ed Reeve which is why
today it is also called Ed s Shed. However, the Sunken House is also a very deserving name. On the
lot there was a space already dug out for a basement foundation, however Adjaye had no intentions
of including some traditional basement. Instead, he used the lowered area to make a hidden first
floor, and then have the driveway connect to the second floor rather than the first/ground floor. This
is just the beginning of some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the simple box style he uses, most all of the walls were constructed off site and then
assemble or put together on site. This caused the actual construction process of this building to be
completed in just weeks with efficiency that should be considered rather innovative. This shows
that even the way something comes together can be part of design or architecture. Ultimately the
end result or final product can reflect to the process and the journey made to get to it, which is just
another outstanding design reflected in Adjaye s project.
In conclusion there are many innovative or modernized design styles of Adjaye in this Sunken
House project, and many of his other projects reflect similar design concepts. This just goes to
show that you can really see an artist, a designer, and also an architect as they mature in their
design concepts and as they gain experience and go through their career. Also however, it is
important to maintain your design concepts and build upon them to improve your work and set
apart yourself from others, just like your work will set apart itself form its

Colossian Epistle To The Church In Colossae
The epistle to the church in Colossae was written by Paul during his incarceration at Rome in
A.D. 60. Many years after the establishment of the church, Epaphras travels to Rome to visit Paul
and bring some good news of the Colossian congregation. But the main purpose of his visit is to
request Paul s help against the heresies that were tearing at the core of the Colossian church. Paul s
letter to the Colossians not only exhorts and cautions, but primarily focuses on the supremacy of
Christ and the power of the gospel message (Elwell and Yarbrough 301).
Paul begins his Colossians epistle by expressing his interest in the church. He had never had a
chance to visit Colossae, for this community of faith was the result of his nearby ministry in
Ephesus. Paul speaks of gratitude for the faith the Colossians have shown thus far, as we have
heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints (English Standard
Version, Col. 1.4).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Someone had come to Colossae and taught an alluring but dangerous philosophy regarding strict
rules for eating, drinking, and religious festivals (Elwell 302). Paul knew these teachings were
empty deceit... and not according to Christ (Col. 2.8). Rather than subjecting themselves to the
bondage of false teachers, they are to understand who they are in Christ and experience the true
freedom that knowledge brings. Their sin debt has been paid by the work of Christ on the cross,
and they are now alive to God. He exhorts the Colossians to progress in faith, with the living Christ

Through the process of reform, women gained access to public spheres, allowed them to

This was stimulated by women s ability to spread petitions, participate in public meetings, and

  • 2. Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in Nigeria Abstract This report studies sustainable management of natural resources in Nigeria. This it does with the aim to determine the extent to which the exploration of natural resources is managed in our country from 1960 till date. Also, given recommendations in which the resources can be managed. CHAPTER ONE 1.0Introduction Nigeria is one of those countries in Africa that is fairly rich with natural resources. For example Crude Oil, Coal, Iron, forest, farming, Fishing and so on. It is believed that natural resources development is one of the factors that help the country in some many areas like employment opportunities, economy and so on. The concept of resource is human centered concept. In order for something to be considered as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One fundamental premise for sustainable development is the recognition that environment and development are not exclusive of one another but are complementary and inter dependent and in the long run man mutually reinforcing (Ahmad and Sanny 1987). This complexity explains the difficulty in operational zing the concept of sustainable Development. Yet there has been ever increasing demand on the limited forest resources and the carrying capably of the fragile forest ecosystem. Under the conditions of poverty for which Nigeria is known, the environment often exhibits the ravages of long years of mismanagement as illustrated by high rate of deforestation, overgrazing, desertification and endangering the forest species. In advanced countries, most forests are managed but in developing countries like Nigeria, relatively few forests are formally managed. Much timber production in Nigeria still comes from natural forest. The organized forest management is the Teak (tectona grandis) plantations in the South West which have been bastardized by the military administrators of these states in the 90s. Their impact favoured deforestation. This has generated public pressure to manage forests. With this pressure and with much timber production, forests are now in demand for other goods and services in fact, the goods of forest management are broadening. The ... • 3. Game Related Statistics Anyone who is a sports fanatic can say that when their team is playing, they will go all out in cheering and showing their support so that everyone else can see how much their team means to them. So how does one choose their favorite team? In basketball, there is no argument that fans stick true to their teams, whether it s because it s their hometown or they have the most valuable players on the team (MVP) or simply just based on statistics. Whichever way a person decides which team they ll go for, one thing remains constant; a supporting fan that will always be quick to defend their team in any situation. Whenever it s basketball season, there is always one question that arises, Who are you going for? For most the answer is simple, the team... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on the article by Sampio, Jamie; McGarry, Tim; Calleja Gonzalez, Julio; Saiz, Sergio Jimenez; Alcazar,Schelling and Balciunas, Mindauhas (2015) One of the most common methods of monitoring sports performance is using game related statistics to evaluate technical and tactical behavior . There are people who can rave about a team s overall statistics or just an individual player, especially when their trying to prove their point in a dispute against an opposing team fan. Statistics can show evidence in ranking which player is worth talking about. A person who bases their favorite basketball team by statistics can easily back up their information by showing numbers. No matter what any other person can throw at them, they will be quick to mention how many championship rings a player has gotten, or how many championships a team has won overall. They will have knowledge in their team player s overall shooting percentage as well as their rebounds, assists and so on. So, if a person is deciding their basketball team by statistics, they will have a pretty good advantage in always proving their team as the best by evidence in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Parker 51 Essay Parker 51 Peace, love and harmony. A saying often used by writers and poets. People cannot have everything in life, and achieving both peace, love and harmony is rarely obtainable. In the text, Parker 51, love came alongside war, and the harmony was ruined by peace. The main character, who goes by the name Rose, loved to play with words, and was convinced that her love for words could maintain her love for Nat. The year was 1946, and the war was over. The GI, Nat Racket, was returning to Philadelphia after fighting side by side with the British troops. Mr. Racket was ready to take Rose with him back to Philadelphia. He was ready to marry her. Rose loved the thought of establishing a family on the other side of the Atlantic, but was still in strong doubt. Things happened so fast, and Rose had to think about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pen is the only memory of Nat, that Rose has. The pen is very important to the story. A pen is often used as a symbol of intellect or destiny. In this short story, Nat s feelings for Rose is a personification of the pen. Rose ends things with Nat, but the memory of him and his love for her, still live inside the pen. Later on Roland lost the pen. This seems to be a way for Roland to get Nat out of Rose s head, and make her focus on him instead. This is in many ways very selfish and egoistic. As Roland says himself in line 30 page 114 [ His loss is my gain .]. After Roland s death, Rose and her daughter Lily found the pen. Rose offered Lily the pen, but she just laughed. The pen did not mean anything to Lily, because she did not know anything about Nat, and Roland was her father. Though, it still had a place in Rose s heart, and after Roland s funeral, Rose wrote one of her lists. Rose was holding on to Nat throughout the story, despite the fact, that he was not suitable for her standards. Roland loved to use the pen, because then he had the power over Rose s feelings for ... • 5. Lord Of The Flies And The Destructors I am most interested with the characters in The Destructors written by a British author Graham Greene. It focuses on a gang of adolescent boys who decide to destroy an old man s house. The behaviors of these boys remind me of a book I read, Lord of The Flies by William Goldings, it tells the story of a group of British school boys who are attacked on an airplane during World War II and they crash on a deserted island. The two stories happen during and after World War II, the extreme violence and injustice of the war has overwhelmed people at that time, horrific incidents such as the holocaust have left people questions about religions, authorities and human nature. • 6. The Correlation between Crime and Poverty Essay A violent crime occurs every 23.5 seconds in the United States of America. Even though crime has been at a low during the past decade, violence is still prevalent in today s society. Most of these crimes happen in places that are socio economically disadvantaged. There then is the debate of whether violent crimeis associated with environments struck with poverty. There is a correlation between violent crimes and poverty because of the unemployment rates in major cities, the culture of poor areas, and drugs. There are three components that must be looked at before carrying on. They are: poverty, social inequality, and relative depravation. Poverty is defined according to an economic standard. The income deemed necessary to meet basic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These cities are also among the list of cities with the highest rates of unemployment. Los Angeles: 9.2 %, Chicago: 9.1%, New York: 7.9%, to name a few (Statistics). Why would anyone follow the right way if you see your parents did so and are still jobless? This is a problem all over the world evident by demonstrations such as the Occupy movement, the Brazil protests, the protests in Greece, etc. These protestors are still voters and this causes a divide in a nation, hence the escalated instability and violence. Another big contributor is that of discrimination. If the majority of the poor in the US are black and brown, and poverty leads to crime, then most of the criminals will be black and brown. This is the case wherever the criminals are the poor ones. It can be argued that the right way is to get an education. Some say education leads to a more civilized person and in turn the violence is reduced. A free education does not guarantee that a child will go on to go to college. Some personally do not like the idea of any post secondary schooling. Others can say that the majority of black and brown criminals suggest problems within the social structures of those certain ethnic groups. This association with an ethnic group is worse when the word criminal implies a moral value. The mass incarceration tactics targets the black and brown population of the US and that is a huge issue. The term moral panic encompasses a wide variety of events that can be applied to something as severe as a terrorist attack or to a mass media craze, such as the one over the death of Harambe, the gorilla from Cincinnati. In order for a certain social pattern to develop into what sociologists would call a moral panic, it must disrupt the operation of society. • 9. The Dark Matter, By Sir Isaac Newton The universe is made mostly of dark matter and dark energy, and we don t what either of them is, a quote by Nobel Prize winning astrophysicist Saul Perlmutter. Dark Matter is currently a conundrum for modern physicist. Only 4% of our universe is known to us, which means 96% is still a mystery. This paper will focus on the dark matterthat currently makes up 27% of our current universe. To understand dark matter, we must understand how we came to identify dark matter. From there we can understand where it came from, are there certain types of dark matter, the current theories of dark matter and finally where do we go with our current understanding. The fact that the stars are confined within the galaxy, even though their vertical velocities are measured to be high enough, necessitates the presence of unseen mass in the galaxy . Swiss astronomer, Fritz Zwicky, in 1933 was investigating a galaxy cluster. While making his investigations in the galaxy cluster at Coma constellation 90 Mega parsecs (one million parsecs) away and also at the cluster in Virgo constellation and calculated its gravitational mass using the Virial Theorem. (2T=n{Vtot} He then used the mass luminosity relation of the stars of the individual galaxies and estimated the mass of the luminous matter in each of the clusters. He came up with a huge discrepancy between these two masses and predicted the existence of dark invisible matter. He would call this invisible dark matter, dunkie Materie. At the time of this proclamation was not widely accepted until a Bullet Cluster was observed. Authors report that the cluster is undergoing a high velocity (around 4500 km/s) merger, evident from the spatial distribution of the hot, x ray emitting gas, but this gas lags behind the sub cluster galaxies. Furthermore, the dark matter clump, revealed by the weak lensing map, is coincident with the collision less galaxies, but lies ahead of the collisional gas. This and other similar observations allow good limits on the cross section of the self interaction of dark matter. Now that we have an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Lgbtc Reflection Paper LGBTQ I would say that my views on the LGBTQ community haven t really changed, but rather, I ve gotten a better picture of what LGBTQ experiences are outside of my own cluster of friends who identify within the LGBTQ community. As a high school student, my LGBTQ wasn t a big deal. I wanted to confirm this fact and asked the few friends I knew from my hometown that had been out in in high schoolwhat their experiences were like. They had been afraid to come out because they knew other students that had run into issues in rural districts, but like the You ve Got to Talk Him Out of It article by Nicholas Pace said, we should remember that our school might surprise us (Pace 39). Gender Gender has always been a hot button topic for me. I ve experienced, first hand, discrimination that occurs based on gender, but this semester has taught me a lot more about gender than I expected. Thanks to the discussions on LGBTQ and gender, I understand that while the topics overlap, the idea of sexual orientation, sex, and gender are very different things. In the Who Said It? article, written by Jessica Press, it is stated that, even before you re born, doctors can tell if you re a boy or a girl based on your body that s your sex. But your gender falls along a spectrum. We hold onto these categories of being masculine or feminine, but there are degrees inbetween (Press 16). Gender has too many stereotypes associated with it and I think it s vitally important to help our future students deconstruct those stereotypes. Race I would say that I still have a lot to learn when it comes to racial bias and racial issues. This semester taught me how to understand and work through implicit bias. Before this semester, I didn t know what implicit bias was, but I understood the concept because I was able to recognize my thoughts when situations occurred. I ve spent a long time worrying that I was racist and that I wouldn t be able to overcome that part of me that I ve never meant to have. I m not sure if I m supposed to be comforted by the fact that I can now give that feeling a name, or not. It s nice to know I m not crazy, but more importantly, I now have more knowledge on the subject so that I can better handle any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. An Organism s Capacity Regulate Gene Expression First, you will summarize the relevant background that leads up to the hypothesis to be tested in this paper. An organism s capacity to regulate gene expression in the response to ecological elements, for instance, nourishments levels and oxygen accessibility is basic for survival. Taking to account that sirtuin genes act to regulate protein expression by two distinct mechanisms: deacetylation of histones proteins, leading to tighter chromatin packaging and therefore decreased transcription; or deacetylation of various other proteins, leading to inactivation. The first experiment implicating sirtuin genes in aging was done in yeast cells. This experiment showed, overexpression of sir2 protein in yeast led to an increase in lifespan. From ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later, researchers integrated geEx1 (geIn1, geIn2) and geEx2 (geIn3), which had an increase in sir 2.1 compared to N2. These integrated lines showed the same lifespan as extrachromosomal arrays. Authors then conclude, as in yeast, expanding the dose of a SIR2 gene augments the lifespan of C. elegans. Research further knocked down daf 16 to examine if sir2.1 augments the lifespan by causing mutations in the insulin like signalling pathway, which is suppressed by daf 16. The findings showed, animals, which did not have daf 16, lived shorter. Researchers then conclude, sir 2.1, requires DAF 16 for lifespan extension. Also, it appears to function in the insulin signaling pathway shown to regulate aging and dauer formation in C. elegans. . в—Џ Identify and discuss the underlying assumptions that must be true in order for either the conclusion and/or experimental evidence to be sound and valid. One of the underlying assumptions is, aging is regulated by genes, and overexpression of sir2 in yeast leads to an increase in lifespan. Another assumption is, aging is a universal and genuine process and its mechanisms are conserved in all organisms. Consequently, researchers specifically examined the dosage of sir2 proteins in C.elegans. Moreover, it is also assumed that all the animals tested, are under ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Specially in developing countries, the local economy has faced a great challenge for the people towards globalization. In South America, Peru is a traditional country trying to fit its customs and techniques in agriculture with the fixed and aggressive markets of the world. According to Javier Escobal and Denice Cavero (2014), Peruvian national statistics indicate that the country has experienced persistent economic expansion recently (annual growth averaging over 5% during the last 15 years). However, poverty has not been reduced, specially in rural areas, where it affects two of every three inhabitants. Commonly, people within this marginal regions, have practiced agriculture as a profession and as a tradition since ages. Reading and writing have always been strong elements, in our lives, studies have shown that reading affects writing and vise versa. Stephen King said, If you could put together a model car or assemble a piece of furniture from directions you could write a sentence . He states the importance of two powerful elements, reading and writing, and by putting them together we could make something out of them. I can come to terms with the fact that reading and writing are the key elects to many opportunities although it has not always been easy to convey. Reading and writing together are both the path to improving our vocabulary and expanding of our knowledge, even though certain people will argue differently, and say that only one (reading or writing) of them is the key element. First, the important connection that reading and writing has to our vocabulary is that we expand our mind and our words as well. Elements like reading and writing are both major factors on what someone can accomplish, reading helps us become better writers in writing an essay or even a book. It also starts from the time we start going to school, that we learn how to read and write, how to sound our consonants and vowels. The second type is urge incontinence, which is when a person has a strong need to void, the bladder then spasms, and the person experiences a spontaneous loss of urine. The third type of incontinence that a person may experience is referred to as mixed incontinence. A person may experience a combination of symptoms from any of the five types of incontinence. The fourth type of incontinence is overflow incontinence. Typically a person s bladder fills completely, often without the urge to void, resulting in urinary dribbling. Taking a Look at Holden s Inmaturity Catcher in The Rye Essay Holden s Immaturity Holden is just a young man, but he is going through a very cruel and unforgiving world that will change him forever. He overcomes many obstacles and barley gets out of it with his sanity still in tact. Holden is a different kind of person and he is just not wired like everybody else. He is represented as an outsider that is clearly different. Holden can change in his views quickly and they can stay that way for quite a long time. Holden in the beginning is very very innocent, and doesn t exactly know how bad of a place the world is and know how bad people can become. Holden is also very immature and doesn t understand what he is doing wrong in being immature. Holden has many emotions and views that he does not exactly know how to deal with, or when to deal with. He has certain views that are very hypocritical and immature. He thinks that he wants to do something, that in the end he would only regret, and he never does do these things, but the fact that he thinks about it clearly shows off his immaturity. Holden fails to grow up, and that hurts him throughout the novel multiple times causing, ultimately his path to be very different than he expected. In J.D. Salinger Catcher in the Rye, the main character, Holden Caufield, is fails to evolve maturely throughout the whole novel, regarding women, thinking out his actions, and killing. This is a problem not only due to the many headlines on the obesity epidemic in this country, especially in regards to children, and how too many people eat too much sugar and this leads to major health problems like obesity and diabetes. I and many others use these beverages to refuel from an activity and feel more hydrated or just to enjoy, so I wanted to test these products and other beverages to determine which of the beverages contain the highest concentration of electrolytes. The purpose of this project is to see if there is the ability to gain enough electrolytes without the need to use a beverage with high sugar/calorie content. Hypothesis My hypothesis is that the beverages with the most electrolytes would have the least amount of calories and the beverages with the least electrolytes will have the most calories because calories in beverages are usually from sugar while electrolytes are made up of salt, calcium, potassium. I think this because usually when something is salty (what electrolytes are made of) it would be less sugary (what calories are made of) and vice versa. Background Research A great many athletes will drink a sports/electrolyte drink after an activity or workout, while others will just drink these to enjoy or to feel more hydrated. It could be argued that he hasn t fought hard enough for the things he wants; for example, he is not actually a member of the worker s union. Stephen has a tendency to seem meek and quite passive. He seems gentle but is often depicted with too much sentimentality. It is almost frustrating the way that Stephen simply accepts that he cannot be with Rachael, and must remain in a loveless marriage, when it is clear that he is unhappy (though of course, moral conventions differed in Victorian times, meaning people had a different view of marriage ... In the case of Breakin, the someone is the great superstar, James Brown, and the something is the dance, the Good Foot. Ronald Reag As Government Expands, Liberty Contracts Essay Ethan MartinMartin 1 Mrs. Langerot English 4 October 14, 2015 Ronald Wilson Reagan As government expands, liberty contracts (Ronald Reagan Quotes). Those who know anything about Modern Politics in the United States know that Ronald Reagan is the poster child and founder of today s Conservatism. Today s Conservatism is at its core a hybrid between the Conservatism of Theodore Roosevelt and that of the Libertarianism of Thomas Jefferson. Libertarians believe that the Central or Federal government should be as small as possible. As shown in the opening quote from Ronald Reagan he firmly believed that to keep the freedom entitled to us by the Bill of Rights, the People must constrict government to give them as minimal amount of power as possible. The Significance of Nazi Propaganda under Hitler s Rule Essay The Significance of Nazi Propaganda under Hitler s Rule The appointment of Adolf Hitler as chancellor of Germany in 1933 should, in theory, have been nothing more than merely a change of administration. However, from the start of their seizure of power the Nazis were prepared to apply this power in revolutionary ways. (Fest, 1974, p.373). In the elections of 1933 that resulted in Hitler s chancellorship, the Nazi party only managed to gain 43.9% of the vote; yet by 1939 they had the support of the majority of the German population. Moreover, underlying all of these arguments is the existence of terror and repression within the regime which cannot be ignored if attempting to ask why Hitler was able to maintain power from 1933 39. Following the Nazi seizure of power in 1933, Joseph Goebbels, the head of the newly formed Ministry of Propaganda, stressed how important it was to centrally control propaganda. He said It is not enough for people to be more or less reconciled to our regime, to be persuaded to adopt a neutral attitude toward us; rather we want to work on people until they have capitulated to us, until they grasp ideologically that what is happening in Germany today not only must be accepted but also can be accepted. (Lee, 1998, p.33) According to David Welch, Goebbels attempted to do this through four propaganda themes. Firstly appeal to national unity and attempt to promote the idea of a people s community (Volksgemeinschaft); secondly attempt to establish a FГјhrer cult (FГјhrerprinzip); thirdly, closely linked with the idea of a people s community was the idea of a need to establish racial purity, and finally propaganda would be used to direct hatred towards the Jews and the Bolsheviks (The Third Reich Politics and Propaganda, 1995, p.52). The murder theory inflamed when the first x ray test of the mummy in 1968 indicated an inter cranial bone fragment lodged within the skull suggesting a blow to the death. Pharaohs were regarded as living Gods, even more than the political and religious leader, and to kill the Pharaoh was inconceivable. Throughout history, there are very few instances that record a Pharaoh being assassinated, and in Tut s case too the murder theory was discarded when conclusive evidence emerged that showed that the damage had been done after the mummification. Unfortunately, Tut s mummy sustained heavy damage when Carter attempted to remove the body from the confining space which housed it. When trade barriers, such as tariffs and subsidies are put in place, they protect domestic producers from international competition and redirect, rather than create trade flows. This results in less productivity and competition. Free Trade promotes international trade, multilateralism, and the development of lesser developed nations and increases the standard of living. Americans today do not sew their own clothes, grow their own food, build their own houses, or buy only products made in their own states. It would simply cost too much, since Americans can acquire such items on the open market with comparative comfort and usually for cheaper prices. It makes economic sense to buy a product from another who specializes in such production or who can make it more easily or for less cost. Free trade encourages competition, spurring companies to innovate and develop better products and to bring more of their goods and services to market, keeping prices low and quality high in order to retain or increase their market share. Since companies must compete with their overseas counterparts, American firms can take note of all the successes as well as the failures that take place in the global marketplace.
