Mine was a truly unconventional path, and I advise you not to walk it yourself (Brzezinski 9).
Knowing Your Value investigates the unconventional path Mika alludes to in this quote. After her
many years of experience in news casting and being fired from 60 Minutes, she saw her career
opportunities dwindling away. She mentions in the book how she was so desperate that she begged
MSNBC to give her a job, any job (and looking back she regrets her decision to do so). Although
MSNBC allowed her to have a job, it was not the kind of work she imagined herself doing,
especially with the strong skill set she gained over the years. It was predictable, it was good for the
kids, and it was great to get back in the game, but the work was boring (Brzezinski 13). Brzezinski,
after only a one year break from working, had to yet again climb her way to the top. While most
of the time slots she was given to fill were menial, every once in a while she filled in as a
substitute for more sought after roles. Until one day, there was a new opening at MSNBC for a
three hour time slot (Brzezinski 15). Joe Scarborough saw something in Brzezinski and asked her
to be a part of his new show, which would potentially be a front runner to gain the position in that

True Despair
Four years ago today was his first time feeling true happiness. Now the day reminds him of how
badly he messed up one year ago. Just one wrong turn led to a life of despair.
It was his last time ever experiencing true happiness. Four years ago, Jeff was still in college
when he met the girl of his dreams, or so he thought. Her name was Jessica. Jess was a quiet girl,
but one day in the hall Jess bumped into Jeff and after that, it was love at first sight, though the both
of them were too shy to say anything at first, they both knew from a spark in their eyes that they
were destined to be together in someway.
Over a year both Jess and Jeff were both going about their lives as average everyday students in
college. Jeff attending his classes, doing his chores around his dorm, and keeping up with his
family as they lived far from the college he was attending.Jess usually hanging with her friends,
keeping up with class work and playing video games online. They only saw each other in the hall
every now and then until, by some random chance of fate, they both chose the same class and were
placed together, and that s when Jess thought that she had the courage to tell him how she really felt
but she was too shy, so things didn t move that fast.
Weeks passed until one day Jess came to school but something was different about her. Most didn t
notice at first, but Jeff noticed right away. Her hair was a bright crimson red color. After seeing that,
something made him immediately go speak to her. He asked her out and she said that she

There are many things in my life that represent my identity . Perhaps some things may
be spiritual and some other things may be materialistic . From animals to celebrities , Specific
objects to places all of these things represent my identity in a way whether it is by race , culture ,

Freedom is the idea of being able to do what one wants to, however, in a society, laws are created
to make us all equal. Laws apply to every one of us in a civilized democratic society, which is the

Thomas Hobbes primarily expresses the idea of liberty using sovereignty as a model. According to
him, sovereignty was established by agreement initially, but he goes on to say that sovereignty
established by force incorporates the same rights and requirements of the social contract. The
difference lies in the way the sovereign is retained, installed and thought of. A sovereign coming
into power by universal consent is supported by the masses, as people fear each other. In contrast
to this, a sovereign that comes into power by force gains support as the people fear the sovereign
himself. Both of these sovereigns are mutually consented to by social contract, which is driven
by fear in either case. In the state of nature, liberty was non existent as actions were influenced
by fear of death and fear of the power held by others. While fear and power are present in The
