4. WHAT IS SHORE PILE
▪ Generally piles are sunken support for building.
▪ Shore piling refers to give support to the construction site by inserting
steel or concrete or wooden shores into the ground.
5. Shore piles support the surrounding loads and prevent the surrounding
soil from breaking in at the time of construction.
6. PURPOSE OF SHORE PILE
▪ Supporting the load of surrounding structures during construction.
▪ Remains in the ground and serves as a retaining structure.
▪ Creates a continuous wall along the boundary.
▪ Prevents further decay.
▪ Averts the collapsing of the existing structure.
▪ Shore piling is used before installation of the mat foundation.
7. VISITED PROJECTS
▪ Project No.-1
▪ Project Name: Green Roshnara Tower.
▪ Location: Our 1st project is situated in
Shat Masjid Road, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
▪ Developed By: Amin Mohammad

8. DEFINITION OF PROJECT-1
General Information:
▪ Materials Type: Concrete.
▪ Based On Method Of
Installation: Cast in Situ Piles.
▪ Quantity of Piles: 120
▪ Pile Diameter:20 inch
▪ Depth/Height:60 feet
▪ From one pile to another pile
distance:6 inch

10. EQUIPMENT'S:
Six types of equipment's are
used to drive cast in situ shore
piles.
Rig Machine: Rig Machine is a
mechanical device used to
bore pile hole.
Fig:From Visited Site
11. Steel Casing: A temporary steel
cage is lowered in the borehole
to protect loose assemblies with
the rig.

12. ▪ Drilling Bit/Chisel: Soil
is being chopped by a
drilling bit/chisel for a
certain depth without
any cage by attaching
the boring assemblies
with the rig.

A mechanical device used
to blended and poured
water, cement,shrinkle
chips.

14. ▪ Reinforcement Cage: Pile
reinforcement cage is
fabricated by as per the
details given in drawing
and bar bending schedule.
Lapping should be
welded.

15. ▪ Core/Tremie Pipe:Tremie pipe is
used to concreting the
borehole. The pipe is lowered
through the reinforcement
cage. Keeping gap between the
tremie pipe and the bottom
level of the borehole of
minimum 6 inchs.During
concreting the pipe is vibrated
so that there will be less void
space.

16. STEPS
▪ 1.Digging up soil.
▪ 2.Building Reinforcement.
▪ 3.Casting Piles.
▪ 4.Setting Piles.
▪ 5.Excavation The Soil.
▪ 6.Constructing Tie Beam.
▪ 7.Adding Up Joist.
▪ 8.Joist In Intersection.
▪ 9.Preparation For Foundation.
17. DIGGING UP SOIL
▪ Pits are dug for piling with the
help of wash boring on the
border line of area.
▪ Pits are generally dug 60 feet
deep.

18. BUILDING REINFORCEMENT
▪ There are three parts-
▪ 1.Main Bar (7-16 mm dia straight
bar)
▪ 2.Spiral Bar (8 mm dia,6 inch c/c)
▪ 3.Chair (8 feet away from one to
another)

19. CONCRETE CASTING
▪ For casting piles cement as
binding materials, stone chips as
course aggregate, selection sand
as fine aggregate are generally
used.
▪ Casting ratio 1:1.5:3

21. EXCAVATION THE SOIL
▪ Excavation is done vertically 15
feet bellow from the surface.

22. CONSTRUCTING TIE BEAM
▪ Constructed tie beam to support
shore piles horizontally.

23. ADDING UP THE JOIST
▪ Joist is one of the
horizontal supporting
members. Joist are
used to anticipated
load over a long period
through bracing.

26. VISITED PROJECTS
▪ Project No.-2
▪ Project Name: Home Design Tower.
▪ Location: Our 2nd project is situated in
Jigatola, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
▪ Developed By: Home Design Ltd.
27. DEFINITION OF PROJECT-1
General Information:
▪ Materials Type: Iron Beam(I-
beam).
▪ Based On Method Of
Installation: Blow.
▪ Quantity of Piles: 50
28. EQUIPMENT'S:
Two types of equipment's are used to
drive steel shore piles.
▪ Pile Driver: Pile Driver is a
mechanical device used to drive
steel shore piles. It transit the
hammer to blow over the piles.

29. ▪ Hammering: Done with the help
of tripod and tri ropes. It weights
400 kilograms.It blow atop the
pile,because of pile can
permeate into the soil.
30. STEPS
▪ 1.Hammering The Beam
▪ 2.Excavation The Soil.
▪ 3.Constructing Tie Beam.
▪ 4.Adding Up Joist.
▪ 5.Joist In Intersection.
▪ 6.Preparation For Foundation.
31. STEPS:
▪ 1.Hammering the beam: To
penetrate the steel beam to the
soil, blow top of the beam one to
another by a hammer weight of
almost 400 kgs.

33. COMPARE BETWEEN CAST IN SITU SHORE PILES & STEEL PILES
Cast in Situ Shore Piles Steel Shore Piles
1.Not limited in length. 1.Limited in length.
2.Too expensive. 2. Relatively inexpensive.
3.Easy to delivery, installation. 3.Difficulty in delivery, installation.
4.Corrosion resistant. 4.Relatively higher corrosion.
34. SHORE PILING IN THE CONTEXT OF
BANGLADESH
▪ In Bangladesh shore piling is easier to be executed and it is also
necessary to be provided for our geological location.
▪ Since hard strata is difficult to be found ,shore piles can be driven easily
to the ground.
▪ Bearing capacity is low, so for heavy load structures, shore piling is
must.
