2. WHAT HAVE I RESEARCHED
▪ Lennox – Gastaut Syndrome:
▪ 5 years of extensive solo research into pediatric epilepsies of childhood due to son’s illness
▪ Three syndromes considered catastrophic; Lennox-Gastaut, Dravet, and Progressive Myoclonic.
▪ My son developed LGS in 2015. Due to my research and his rapidly declining cognitive state I
made the decision to have my son have his Corpus Calossum removed surgically.
▪ CC is the primary neural pathway between the hemispheres. Removal attempts to asynchronize
hemisphere activity and keep seizures lateralized.
▪ CBD Trial:
▪ CBD (cannabadiol) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid extremely effective in treating Dravet
syndrome
▪ 12 Research Hospitals are now conducting CBD testing on Lennox Gastaut Syndrome.
▪ These trials are using 100% CBD from GW Pharmaceuticals.
▪ Many doctors believe some THC is necessary for maximum effect.
3. WHAT I AM TRYING TO RESEARCH
▪ Anxiety & Related Disorders, Depression, and Mood Disorder Symptom Management
▪ Neurophysical Fitness and Nutrition is working from the belief that exercise induced
pharmacology plays a critical role in the mental well being of every individual.
▪ I work with many clients who have mental health concerns, I am interested primarily in
exercise induced endorphins pre or post psychotherapy sessions and outcome.
▪ Cognition and Exercise Science
▪ “Consistent, moderate exercise is the single most important thing you can do for brain
health” Neuroscience; 5th edition
▪ How can Exercise Science and Cognitive Science leverage each other?
4. WHAT DO I EXPECT FROM THIS C0URSE
▪ How to Properly Design and Conduct Research that holds up to Scholarly Critique
▪ Where can an MS student do research that will be recognized?
▪ How can I do the research that I described earlier
▪ Do you have to be a PhD to conduct “real” research, or to get grants?
▪ Do Physicians, Psychologists, etc. ever team up with MS level or PhD candidates to
do research?
