The landscape of academic research has changed rapidly in the past decade, with access to high-performance networks, and the focus on data-intensive and interdisciplinary scholarship. Research libraries in North America are developing new services and programs aimed at meeting scholars’ needs for data-intensive, and interdisciplinary research support. Examples of some emerging programs include:
• Supporting digital research (graphical information systems, digital humanities, survey research methodologies, working with large datasets)
• Educating users about copyright and author rights
• Supporting content-creation and publishing activities in numerous ways: institutional repository to store and host works, establishing maker spaces, and developing infrastructure and workflows for more formal library-located publishing efforts
• Collaboration with research offices to educate researchers about federal mandates for open access publications and datasets
• Establishment of data management and archival resources
• Partnering with third-party vendors and with consortia to achieve scale-efficiencies and facilitate impact
• Development of researcher information management systems to support collaboration, discovery, and reporting
We present a case study of the development of a suite of new tools and services at the University of Illinois Library at Urbana-Champaign within its newly established Office of Research to support digital scholarship and to provide sustained and broad access to research. We will also discuss the significant challenges and opportunities of library/campus partnerships for cyberinfrastructure and research support.

Since that point the organisation has gained considerable experience of the issues involved in the development and maintenance of a sustained linked data service.

KBART (Knowledge Bases And Related Tools) is a recommended practice for publishers to provide standardized metadata to knowledge bases to improve the accuracy of holdings information. Phase 1 focused on serials while Phase 2 expanded the scope to ebooks, open access resources, and consortial holdings. The KBART standing committee oversees the recommended practice. Knowledge bases aggregate holdings data to support linking, discovery, and electronic resource management. Inaccurate holdings data in knowledge bases can negatively impact these services. KBART provides guidelines for data formatting and delivery, educational materials, and an endorsement program to recognize compliant publisher data feeds. Current priorities include increasing adoption of KBART best practices.
Walk this way: Online content platform migration experiences and collaboration
In this session, a librarian and a publisher share their perspectives on content platform migrations, and the Working Group Co-chairs will describe the group’s efforts to-date and expected outcomes. Our publisher-side speaker will describe issues they must consider when their content migrates, such as providing continuous access, persistent linking, communicating with stakeholders, and working with vendors. Our librarian speaker will describe their experience and steps they take during migrations, such as receiving notifications about migrations, identifying affected e-resources, updating local systems to ensure continuous access, and communicating with their front-line staff and patrons.

KBART (Knowledge Bases and Related Tools) is a joint NISO and UKSG project that establishes best practices for content providers to supply metadata to knowledgebase vendors in order to ensure users can access subscribed content. The Mohammed VI Library at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco implemented EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS) to improve access to its resources and user experience. EDS was selected due to the library's existing relationships with EBSCO and familiarity of users with the EBSCO interface. The implementation process from June 2013 to November 2013 involved setting up the EDS system, customizing the catalog, testing, and branding. Early usage statistics showed growing use of EDS, and the library is promoting EDS through workshops, meetings with faculty, and embedding it in course guides. The library plans to formally evaluate EDS in Fall 2014 through a user survey.

Implementing a discovery services @ mohammed vi library final draft
The Mohammed VI Library at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco implemented EBSCO Discovery Services (EDS) to improve access to its resources and user experience. EDS was selected due to the library's existing relationships with EBSCO and familiarity of users with the EBSCO interface. The implementation process from June 2013 to November 2013 involved setting up the EDS system, customizing the catalog, testing, and branding. Early usage statistics showed growing use of EDS, and the library is promoting EDS through workshops, meetings with faculty, and embedding it in course guides. The library plans to formally evaluate EDS in Fall 2014 through a user survey.

This document discusses the implementation of discovery tools at two historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Interoperability Without Effort

Session 5 - SOPAC: Further Separateing Front Office and Back Office Application
This session will focus on how a tool developed in a few weeks for a single library in New Zealand has become an award winning ILS, developed worldwide, used by more than 1000 libraries, and supported by many OSS companies. Paul Poulain has been involved in free software since 1998 and the Koha project since early 2002. He has been Release Manager for Koha 2.0 and 2.2, and remains a major contributor. Paul co-founded BibLibre in 2007 to provide high level support, training, migration on Open Source software for libraries (Koha and Drupal)
Session 6 - The Myths of Support and Development
Companies are now established to help libraries adopt Open Source software solutions without the need for in-house support and development staff. Nick describes the ways in which a company such as PTFS Europe can help overcome some of the procurement, implementation and support barriers preventing the more widespread adoption of these solutions.
Session 9 - Open Products, Open Interfaces, and Open Source
Today, proprietary and open-source software can and do coexist and complement each other. Constrained by limited resources, libraries can do more and offer more if they start with functionally-rich products and build from there. The Ex Libris open-platform program provides a framework in which open-source code developed by the library community is integrated with robust, vendor-supported software. The result is a groundbreaking environment that is achievable and affordable in the short and long run.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
