I. OBJECTIVES Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives, necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and remedial
activities may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies
and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides.

B. Performance Standards Performs vocal and dance forms of Afro-Latin American and selections of popular music.

II. CONTENT
Content is what the lesson is all about. pertains to the subject matter that the
teacher aims to teach. In the CG, the content can be tackled in a week or two.

II. PROCEDURES
These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from
formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions
about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new
lesson

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson Show the class some examples of
instruments and let them name it.
Play selected recordings of Latin American
music. Let the students listen and ask
them to describe the music they listened.
Let the students watch video clip
from the animated movie โ€œThe
Princess and the Frogโ€ and let them
listen to the background music which
is jazz.

Africa through power point
presentation.
Identify them according to their
classification.

Lead the class to the discussion regarding
the popular Latin American music.
Discuss the history of each musical
genre in relation to your Social studies
subject.

instrument of Aztec and Mayan culture.
Which type of music is popularized by Bob

Ask students to perform atleast two
genres in class.

I. Evaluating learning Have the students choose a new
favorite musical genre. On ยผ sheet of
pad paper, have them describe the
character and classification od African
music and tell which is their favorite
and why?
Group the class into four.
Each group will be asked to draw lots
to sing a song from one of the musical
genres:
*For Jazzโ€”Someone to watch over
me or All that Jazz
* For Pop- choose our own song
Have the students decide among
their group members to do the
following:
๏‚ท Sing
๏‚ท plan the choreography
๏‚ท Play a musical instrument
๏‚ท Record the groupโ€™s
performance on video
They will learn their assigned song
using the lyrics provided. Let them
practice it with the choreography and
accompaniment.

OBJECTIVES Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives, necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and remedial activities may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides. A. Content Standards Demonstrates understanding of characteristics features Afro-Latin American music and popular music. B. Performance Standards Performs vocal and dance forms of Afro-Latin American and selections of popular music. C. Learning Competencies/Objectives Write LC code for each Dances to different selected styles of Afro-Latin American and popular music. ( MU10AP-IIa-h-4 ) Analyzes musical characteristics of Afro-Latin American and popular music. (MU10AP-IIa-h-5 ) Analyzes musical characteristics of Afro-Latin American and popular music. (MU10AP-IIa-h-5 ) Sings selections of Afro- Latin American anf Popular music in appropriate pitch, rhythm, style and espression. ( MU10AP-IIa-h-6 ) II. CONTENT Content is what the lesson is all about. pertains to the subject matter that the teacher aims to teach. In the CG, the content can be tackled in a week or two. Varied sources of materials sustain childrenโ€™s interest in the lesson and in learning. Ensure that there is a mix of concrete and manipulative materials as well as paper-based materials. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step. A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson Give examples of spiritual and call and response. What are the classifications of African musical instrument ? Define and describe African and Latin American music. B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson Show the class some examples of instruments and let them name it. Play selected recordings of Latin American music. Let the students listen and ask them to describe the music they listened. Let the students watch video clip from the animated movie โ€œThe Princess and the Frogโ€ and let them
  • 2. listen to the background music which is jazz. C. Presenting examples/Instances of the new lesson Discuss the musical instruments of Africa through power point presentation. Identify them according to their classification. Who among you are interested in dancesports? Lead the class to the discussion regarding the popular Latin American music. Discuss the history of each musical genre in relation to your Social studies subject. D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1 Name game! Pictures of instrument will flash in the screen and students will identify their classification. What is Samba? โ€ฆSon โ€ฆSalsa Give examples of musical instruments of Latin America. Describe how each one is influenced by modern culture society and technology. E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2 What are the different vocal and dance forms of Latin American music? What are the characteristics of each vocal and dance form of Latin American music? Let the students listen to recordings from youtube of Ragtime, bigband, bebop and jazz rock. Let the students listen to Folk, country and western, ballad, standard, rock and roll, pop, alternative music and crossover F. Developing Mastery (Leads to Formative Assessment 3) Name and describe atleast one instrument of Aztec and Mayan culture. Which type of music is popularized by Bob Marley? Ask students to perform atleast two genres in class. G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living Describe how African musical instruments are sourced from the environment. Give examples. How did the different forms of popular music reflect life of the 20th century? H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson What have you learned from our lesson today? Which type of music di you like best and why? What is the effect of these music in our lives specially in the rising of new technology? I. Evaluating learning Have the students choose a new favorite musical genre. On ยผ sheet of pad paper, have them describe the character and classification od African music and tell which is their favorite and why? Group the class into four. Each group will be asked to draw lots to sing a song from one of the musical genres: *For Jazzโ€”Someone to watch over me or All that Jazz * For Pop- choose our own song Have the students decide among their group members to do the following: ๏‚ท Sing ๏‚ท plan the choreography ๏‚ท Play a musical instrument ๏‚ท Record the groupโ€™s performance on video
  • 3. They will learn their assigned song using the lyrics provided. Let them practice it with the choreography and accompaniment. J. Additional Activities for application or remediation III.
