Subject Description : Teaching Music in Elementary Grades
No. of Hours per week : 3 Hours/Week
No. of Hours per Semester : 54 Hours
Credit Units : 3 units
Pre-requisites : None

ELEMENTARY EDUCATION PROGRAM OUTCOMES (PO) (as per CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 74, series of 2017)
The graduates of Elementary Education shall be able to:
PO1 Facilitate learning using a wide range of teaching methodologies and delivery modes appropriate to specific learners and their environments,
PO2 Develop innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, and resources for diverse learners,
PO3 Apply skills in the development and utilization of ICT to promote quality, relevant, and sustainable educational practices,
PO4 Demonstrate a variety of thinking skills in planning, monitoring, assessing, and reporting learning processes and outcomes,
PO5 Demonstrate in-depth understanding of the diversity of learners in various learning areas,

VII. Course Description : This course deals with the educational foundations of Music as these apply to teaching and learning in the elementary grades.
Various teaching strategies and assessment appropriate for each area shall be given emphasis in this course.
VIII. Course Outcomes:
At the end of the course, the students should be able to;
1. Demonstrate in-depth understanding of the concept, elements, and principles of music in the elementary grades.
2. Utilize varied teaching strategies, methods, learning activities and resources relevant to the learners with aligned objectives of the lesson.
3. Design and use appropriate different assessment tools in assessing music in the elementary grades.
4. Adopt and manifest the lessons applying all the approaches and strategies in teaching learner’s diverse interests and abilities in elementary level.
5. Recognize nature and background of various styles, genres, music timeline and composers.
