Learning Targets Know guidelines/procedural expectations for sessions and absences. Review of New Teacher (State of Michigan) requirements Begin to know one another and begin to feel comfortable sharing so that we learn together as a community. Share classroom management strategies –  identify personal strengths and challenges. Share strategies to help build effective student and teacher relationships – reflect on personal strengths and challenges.
PROCEDURAL GUIDELINES   for each session When you entered the room today, what were you asked to do? STANDARD PROCEDURES OF OPERATION Beginning of session: Sign-in  Pick up your name badge – please wear it to help us learn each other by name! Pick up handouts on the registration table During Session: Cell phone on vibrate or off Avoid talking when others are talking Share in discussions and/or activities End of session: Clean up after yourself (pick up at your table prior to leaving) Sign-out at the end of the session (Blue form) Return evaluation form in the basket on registration table as you exit
And what are the  procedures for… Arriving after we’ve started… or you need to leave early? When you can’t attend a session?  Let your administration know. Courtesy call or email to Josephine (ext. 1149 or  [email_address] ) or Joyce (ext. 1126 or  [email_address] ) Pick up materials missed in rolling file cabinet.

Jigsaw Activity Art & Science of Teaching – book by Robert J. Marzano (2007) Number off  (by 6) Groups 1 & 2 – What will I do to establish or maintain classroom rules and procedures? Groups 3 & 4 – What will I do to recognize,  acknowledge adherence and lack of adherence to classroom rules and procedures? Groups 5 & 6 – What will I do to establish and maintain effective relationships with students?
Within-Team:  Regroup and determine…! Step 1:  Working Independently Divide up the chapter Read your part Step 2:  Share with your table group – (Roundrobin strategy) Step 3:  Reporting to whole group Determine key points  Prepare how you will share these with the whole group
