Seminar: Software Engineering 
Topic Number: 3
Key topics and learning outcomes of this Seminar 
Students are to make a decision whether they wish to: 
1. Design and build an Android App; 
2. Redesign an existing Android App; 
Option 1 is for students who wish to work with programming; 
Option 2 is for students who wish to work with design.
Working in Groups 
• You will be required to work up your app design or app redesign in an Agile/Scrum 
Development Environment. 
• Work in your group and discuss the development of your choice of app design, ie 
either: 
1. your group’s new app design 
or 
2. your group’s redesign of an existing app 
… depending upon whether option 1, or option 2 is your group’s choice. 
Set up your Agile/Scrum timetable.
Next Session 
• In the Workshop related to this topic, you will work through the ‘Scrum Training 
Series’ and then complete the Question and Answer section. 
• Please check the OLE for the link to the Scrum Training Series in Workshop 3.
Summary 
• In this Seminar, students will have decided whether to work with either: 
– designing and building their own group Android App design; 
– working on the group redesign of an existing Android App. 
• Students will have been divided into two groups: 
– students choosing to design and build an Android App; 
– students choosing to redesign an existing Android App; 
• The two groups will have then been further sub-divided into smaller working 
groups. 
• students have started planning their design route.
