This document discusses cyber safety and the responsible use of social media. It cautions about oversharing photos online, notes that nearly 75% of social media users are teenagers, and highlights the story of Essena O'Neill who amassed over 600,000 Instagram followers before quitting social media due to the inauthenticity it created in her life. The main messages are to think before snapping and sharing photos online, be aware of how social media can negatively impact users, and not to assume everything shared is real.

If your organization works with youth, this session is for you. This session will present a case study of how an organization that serves over 600 youth living in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods was able to successfully implement a social media strategy to better meet program objectives. This session will also provide an overview and understanding of the youth perspective on social media, trends, and mobile usage. Session participants will be given specific strategies to address issues such as: organizational buy-in; staff training; implementation and effective usage of Facebook, Twitter, and SMS broadcasting; integration with organizational goals; and adapting to emerging technologies.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

THINK BEFORE YOU SHARE
17. • Essena had 621,000
followers on Instagram. To
me she was just Essie.
• Whilst at high school she
spent 50+ hours a week on
social media. Her “hobby”
became very lucrative.
• “I created an image of
myself that was merely
contrived perfection.”

19. SIMPLE MESSAGE 3
• Essie has received a lot of
criticism. She has been
accused of being “fake”and
some have suggested her
social media exit is a “hoax.”
• She was especially criticised
for using social media to
publicise WHY she was
leaving social media.
• She hasn’t appeared on any
social media site since
November 5.
