An Example Of Being Naked In Public From Modern Pop-Culture
Hi all, I m a dog, so I will talk about few examples of being naked in public from modern pop
culture. In the story The emperor s new clothes , the king walked out without any clothes at the
end of the story in front of the public because two rascals sell an invisible suit of clothes that only
smart people can see to the king. Since the king and all the helpers around do not want to admit
they are not smart enough to see the cloth, the king walked out naked with his servants walked
behind him with their hands raised to hold the imaginary mantle. I think this would be an example
that a humorous character (the king) gets his comeuppance (walking naked in front of the public)
because of his hypocrisy. Another one I can think of is the

Increasing the visibility of a newly founded business can be a difficult task. Even if your product
is solving an important, previously unresolved problem, you ll still need to put serious effort in
order to make it stand out in the sea of new startups that are popping up each day. Among manifold
methods to promote a newly launched startup, submitting it to various web directories emerges as
the first logical step.

What are the pros and cons of these services?
If we compare the two services, it is evident that they both offer very similar features at a similar
price. Effective and efficient, time saving, nicely designed, as well as affordable, both
StartupLister and Promotehour are use useful tools that will spare you the effort of manual
submission and help get the word out quicker (and to more relevant people). In addition to
increased traffic, improved page rank and SEO, being listed on multiple startup website directories
will also result in receiving relevant feedback from early adopters, so whichever of the two you
may choose, you won t make a mistake.
While StartupLister and Promotehour share the advantages of easier promotion, they also have the
same downsides, which chiefly concern their unsuitability for smaller local businesses and/or non
English speaking environments. Although these services are undoubtedly capable of boosting
massive traffic and spreading the word out, this only refers to startups that are competing on an
international level. But when it comes to locally focused companies, as well as the ones that
operate outside of the English speaking markets, due to the language barrier things are quite more
complicated, as these entrepreneurs primarily ought to be noticed in their own countries. Should
you consider launching a startup that aims a specific local market in Europe, in others words, a
pitch to VentureBeat won t be of much

Memento Mori Short Story Romanticism
After close reading the short story Memento Mori by Jonathan Nolan I have come to the
conclusion that Romanticism is prevalent in the story. After the attack that killed Earl s wife
and injured Earl s brain, he lost his ability to make new memories and so he was controlled and
confined by other people saying what they are doing is for his own good. Earl was trying to find
his place in the universe, as every day he had to wake up and relearn where he is and what he is
doing. He was a man driven by emotion, he had lots of hate and seemed pretty helpless but he
also has a sense of dark humor that helps him deal with his reality. His emotion was a key part of
the story as it triggered his actions. But of course, the only way he kept track of information... Show

When Earl was looking at the picture of himself with flowers standing over his wife s fresh
grave, Earl looks at the picture for a long time. Maybe he begins to cry. Maybe he just stares
silently at the picture. Eventually, he makes his way back to the bed, flops down, seals his eyes
shut, tries to sleep (p. 87). The hall of mirrors shows how lost and confused Earl still is. Earl
would make jokes that are sly remarks aimed at no one but himself. An example of this is,
CIGARETTE? CHECK FOR LIT ONES FIRST, STUPID. Earl laughs at the sign, lights his
cigarette, and takes a long draw (p.86). He also titles himself The ten minute man . These all
show how Earl did not take anything too seriously, he really had nothing to lose and he knew it.
You can t have a normal life anymore. You must know that. How can you have a girlfriend if you
can t remember her name? Can t have kids, not unless you want them to grow up with a dad who
doesn t recognize them. Sure as hell can t hold down a job (p. 88). Being that he remembers
everything before the accident he vividly remembers the accident it also means that he will never
forget the face of the man who do it. After searching the internet, I found the name of the article
Memento Mori has Latin roots, quoting Wikipedia, Memento mori is the medieval Latin theory
and practice of reflection on mortality . What this all means for the story is it s about destiny and
Earl is reflecting upon his wife s death, he would probably be content if he had gotten

Analysis Of Edna St. Vincent Millay
Edna St. Vincent Millay was a poet who was conventional in her execution of poems using the
form of a Shakespearean sonnet, but her words are powerful. She wrote of love and loss that
resonate with readers to this day. A poem illustrating her choice of words is If I should learn, in
some quite casual way. St. Vincent Millay writes of the speaker thinking of how he or she will
react calmly if in some tragic way he or she discover a lover is dead. It is a poem that hits a reader
hard with its sadness but its serenity in how she writes. It is tragic how the speaker says he or
she will hold in guilt. If I should learn, in some quite casual way is a poem that deals with the
theme of losing a lover, as well as how the form of a Shakespearean sonnetand the author s rhyme

Comparing Christianity, Judaism, and Islam Essay
Similarities and Differences between Christianity, Judaism and Islam There are many
similarities and differences between Judaism, Christianity and Islam. There are also many
differences that separate the three major religions of the world. This paper will delve into all
three of them. The major similarities that all three religions share are that they are all
monotheistic. This all means that they believe in one god and that he is the supreme ruler of all
things. They also believe that all things are created equal under one god. They all have books of
what they believe to be God s word. The Jews have their book known as the Torah. The Christian

There are two parts in Jerusalem. There is the New City and the Old City. In the Old city there
are many temples, one of the most important being the Haram esh Sharif, or Venerable
Sanctuary. In the Old City there is also the Christian Church of Holy Sepulchre, which is the
place where they believe Jesus Christ was buried after coming off the Cross. There is also the
Wailing Wall that the Jews go to pray at. The Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque are
there for the Muslim community. Jerusalem is the third holiest site for the Muslim population
behind Mecca and Medina. Other things that the religions all share are that they all have their
sacred places of worship. For the Christians there is the church. For the Jewish people there is
the synagogue and then for the Muslims there is the mosque. They also all have their Sabbath or
day of rest that they take time to go to their holy place of worship. The Jewish Sabbath is on
Saturday while the Christian Sabbath is on Sunday. All three of these religions started off small
and a long time ago. Judaism started a long time before the birth of Jesus Christ. Christianity
started after the birth of Christ but was not really known about or taught until after Jerusalem was
destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. Islam was started later on but still a long time ago. It is
thought to be started in 622 A.D. by a man known as Muhammad. Seeing how many similarities

Synapsin Staining Report
Discussion
Based on the results of this experiment, it can be stated that there was no correlation between
serotonin and synapsin staining in both Camponotus floridanus and Pogonomyrmex badius. The
quality of synapsin and serotonin staining varied among all the individuals in the lab, some
individuals would get good quality stains, while others get subpar stains. This would be due to
many factors such as, amount of time spent in blocking solution, fixative, and both primary and
secondary antibodies, dehydrating the brains for too long. The initial hypothesis was that there
would be a large trace of serotonin and synapsin staining in the mushroom bodies and optic lobes of
both ant species as both areas of the brain are critical to their survival, with respect to olfactory
sensitivity and visual processing (Heisenberg 1998; Holldobler 1976). But, the quality and trace of
serotonin and synapsin staining was not significant across almost all of the brain samples. This
signifies that samples were affected by an outside source, thus causing less than desirable staining
results.

fixative and staining quality. In future experiments, the time samples are placed in blocking

get better and more accurate results, concerning staining quality. On the contrary, there was a
positive correlation between the amount of time the samples were left in the antibody solutions and
staining results. The longer the samples were left in the antibody solution, the better the staining
results were as attested by the statistical

Lone Wolf s Attacks
1)Goals As leaders responsible for the security of our own constituents, the most important goals
would need to be the security of British civilians working in Sureno. The deaths of innocent
civilians, especially in a foreign land would undoubtedly lead to strong media attention and
eventually public indignation that would be aimed at both the inability of the government to
protect them as well as a public sentiment for retributive justice against One Way, especially via
the use of military action. As it is also known that One Way leaders have called for members of

The British government should consider the attacks on British companies in Soreno as criminal
acts of violence. This should be followed by condemnation of any violence against any British
entity and state resolve to end the conflict. However, we should also explain that given the
complex political situation in Soreno, it would be unwise to commit British lives to a foreign and
uncertain conflict, especially it aggravates Soreno s opposition and motivate further attacks on
British targets. The conflict should also be presented as a benign movement fighting in the
interests of democracy and social justice. The small number of British troops deployed in Soreno
will only be for the guarantee of peace in facilitation of the negotiation process and the protection
of British citizens and companies. This will be argued to the public as necessary in order to
resolve the root of the issue, prevent further attacks both by Liberty and Honor and One Way and
prevent a spread of extremist ideology which may inspire further inspired attacks to undermine
British society. The political narrative should also point out that One Way represent a narrow sect

1.8 Connection
Connections Report 1.8 Connections
The theme of love connection between people is a very important part of life. I choose this theme
as it is a very relevant and relatable subject for many people in our society. The four texts I chose
were: the fictional novel Delirium , by Lauren Oliver, the song Blank Space by Taylor Swift, song
Same Love by Macklemore and fictional novel Girl Online , by Zoe Sugg. There was a strong
connection of love between two people in all of these texts.
The first text that I looked at that showed the connection of love was Delirium. This novel discusses
the connection of love. Love is the main theme of this novel. The main character ... Show more

This song is about the struggles society creates for people identifying as a homosexual and
discusses equality and discrimination of people that like the same sex. Macklemore was driven to
write this song because of the issue of equal marriage right and the use of gay as degrading word
in society and in the hip hop industry. He wanted to set an example for others in the music industry,
and help change the stereotypes of homosexuality. As Macklemore writes in his song a bunch of
stereotypes all in my head this shows that society riddles our brains into thinking that it isn t
alright to be gay, when really it is. These stereotypes make it hard for people to feel accepted
about their sexuality. This song discusses how gay is used in an insultive way as quoted in the
lyrics; If I was gay I would think hip hop hates me, Have you read the YouTube comments lately,
Man that s gay Gets dropped on the daily, We ve become so numb to what we re sayin These
examples show the connection of love, but in a different way to what we would usually expect.
This song has a different view on the connection of love compared to other books with the theme
of love, as it is about homosexuality rather than heterosexuality. In my opinion I think what
Macklemore is trying to convey is very smart, and I believe that there should be equality on who
you love. I also thing that the words such as gay shouldn t be used with such negative connotations,
and I m sure many others in our society would

Essay about Rational Choice Theory in Political Science
Rational Choice Theory in Political Science
According to one of rational choice theory s prominent and more thoughtful contemporary
exponents, Peter C. Ordeshook, four books mark the beginning of modern political theory:
Anthony Downs s An Economic Theory of Democracy (1957), Duncan Black s Theory of
Committees and Elections (1958), William H. Riker s A Theory of Political Coalitions (1962), and
James Buchanan and Gordon Tullock s The Calculus of Consent (1962). These volumes, along with
Kenneth Arrow s Social Choice and Individual Values (1951), began such a wealth of research that
political scientists today have difficulty digesting and synthesizing all but small parts of it.
Consequently, the full value of this research often goes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First I will provide an overview of what rational choice theory is and why it has staked such a
prominent position in the discipline of political science. In this section I conclude that rational
choice theory has indeed developed advanced methodologies at telling us how rational agents
should behave. Then in my second section I will show, using the empirical case of the free rider
problem and collective action, as well as the case of suicide terrorism, that rational choice theory
cannot adequately account for actual political phenomena. In my third section I will provide some
reasons for why this is the case. Finally, in my concluding section I will posit a theoretical
framework incorporating some refinements to the assumptions behind rational choice theory that
would better aid a predictive (but not universalist) political science.
What is Rational Choice Theory?
Rational choice theory is actually more than one theory per se, but the basic similarities among its
variants mean that they can be intelligibly amalgamated for the purposes of critiquing its
implementation in political science. Therefore public choice theory, positive political science,
rational actor models, and the economic approach to politics, among others, refer to what we may
call rational choice theory for the purposes of this essay. (See Green and Shapiro 1994, xi.

The Morality Of Bystanders In The Holocaust
It is a challenge to reconcile human beliefs in compassion and morality with the actions, or
inactions, of bystanders in the Holocaust. How is it possible that hundreds of thousands of people
stood by while millions faced pain and suffering? Before exonerating or condemning all of them, it
is necessary to consider the differences in bystanders. For the context of the Holocaust, a bystander
is someone who was neither a target of the Nazis or a Nazi themselves. Putting all of these
people in the same group is an oversimplification, because it ignores the power system in place
during the Holocaust and the various positions of bystanders in that system. The wealthy
business owner is not the same as the working class mother of four. In this situation, one has
considerable power and ability, and the other does not. Applying a blanket statement, and calling
the latter unjust when they are ordinary people in a time of horrific war is contrary to reason. It
is also necessary to consider the extent of bystander s actions. Have their actions merely helped to
ensure their own survival, or do they directly hurt Holocaust victims? The magnitude of each
situation is varied. In conclusion, to gauge the morality of a bystander s actions, they need to be
judged on an individual basis, with two qualities in mind: that person s ability to act and the effect
of their actions. In All But My Life, the memoir of Holocaust survivor Gerda Weissmann Klein, the
first bystanders the audience

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Iliad
The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Iliad are two extremely different stories, The Iliad being a tale of
war (specifically the Trojan War) while the Epic of Gilgamesh is a true Epic in the sense that it is
a journey, all about the development of the characters. While there are many different themes
throughout both books, one of the most important themes is the way that friendship develops both
of the people involved and the way that it ties into the story overall. In the Epic of Gilgamesh,
Enkidu and Gilgamesh start off as polar opposites while in the Iliad, Achillesand Patroclus are great
friends from the very beginning. In each of the stories, one of the friends dies and it leaves a
permanent mark on the other that changes his behavior in a way that sets the stage for the rest of
the story. However, I think that the greater change of the two happens in Achilles since the death
of his friend leads him to completely change character, from the man who allows his friend to take
his place while he cowers in fear to the man who leads the charge that wins the war. Gilgamesh on
the other hand, continues the journey that he and Enkidu started but even until the end he struggles
with his selfish nature. Prior to Enkidu and Patroclus their deaths, the friendships in each of the

Internal Conflict In Macbeth
Conflict happens when two or more people have an disagreement on same topic, or when people
clash in relationship. Warfare is presented as gruesome, unspeakable of hatred and sickening
dream, warfare is often portrayed as bloody and troublesome in literature, because many of the
battles involves violence and death. Hero in many occasions are presented as abnormal, who is
very talented, who is capable to safe people, nevertheless when it comes to failure, the hero is just
like an ordinary human, Shakespeare played and twisted the role of hero, using the character
Macbeth. The play Macbeth and pro also con poems about the war, made me determine that conflict
involves physical strength in fighting, but also serious internal breakdown in emotions... Show more

At this point, Macbeth appears to the audience, that he is suffering from inner conflict, we can
see this, because Shakespeare presents his indicate messed up feelings, and his over running
lines in the play. Shakespeare has Macbeth present as cowardice human in this scene, compared
to before, because from this scene Macbeth is expressing all his worries and his fear of the
consequences after the murder of Duncan. The impression of Macbeth to the audience has rapidly
changed from loyal gallant, brave and trustworthy after the greed of ambition ,to become king, to a
man that has lost his way, that doesn t know how to continue on wards. Macbeth stating, we still
have judgement here, that we but teach/bloody instructions which being taught return/ to plague
the inventor within the soliloquy it s showing how concerned and nervous he is, Macbeth s
speech is symbolizing his nerves, and his hear rate within that long enjambment speech, because
clearly it s showing us the lines from the speech is running over each other. The word judgement
suggest it s another word for god, this shows Macbeth is frightened about god judging on him in
afterlife, because he knows if he kills the king, he is going against god, because the king has the
divine right, that is given by godпјЊthis connotes in the Jacobean period, people believed a lot in
god, for considering decision before doing it, linking with god. This is why Macbeth is so
worried, he is scared, that he may go to hell, because of his ambition to become king, for he who
didn t have the divine right. From the massive changes, we can see Shakespeare is telling us that
there s no perfect hero, hero fails too, everybody makes mistakes even hero

The Roman Empire was from 200 B.C.E to 200 CE located in Rome, now called Greece. And

north of the Persian Gulf. Even though the empires thrived during different time periods, they both
had a well built and expanded empire and how they treated people. At the same time, they also had
very opposing ideas of who was in charge of the empire and how they ruled the government. Other
differences, were that the two empires believed in contrasting religions and how it spreads to

Mayan Culture
The Mayan culture utilizes traditional and holistic medical practices well outside the scope of
modern technological and medical advances. Their heavy use of plant life as a medicinal cure for a
variety of ailments allows modern medical practitioners to experiment with their incorporation into
mainstream medical cures. HernГўn Garcia, Antonio Sierra, and Gilberto Balam (1999) discuss the
Mayan view of the physical body in relation to their spiritual roles in the universe, as well as
Mayan medicinal traditions and predictions in their book Wind in the Blood. In a more detailed

In order to cleanse the body, the Mayans place a heavy value on dualities comparatively like hot
and cold, the pixГ n and ool forces, and the right and left side of the body. The balance of hot and
cold as it relates to body temperature and illnesses is highly regulated in Mayan medical
traditions. Since the disturbance of this equilibrium is considered the most common cause of
illness, Mayans have developed a system of recognizing ailments as cold or hot. If a condition is
considered hot , i.e. pregnancy or drunkenness, treatment will avoid cold medicines and foods
because the mixture of temperatures will cause further illness (Garcia et al., 1999). The Mayan
conception of this symmetry narrows their focus on medicine as hot or cold rather than based on a

Biodiversity is the grand diversity of all life on Earth and the interconnections that support these
forms of life. This astonishing diversity supports the human existence by providing numerous
priceless resources such as food, fuel, and medicine. Many of these resources can not be duplicated
by the human race. For these reasons it is obvious that the environment and the biodiversity that it
supports are detrimental to human survival. There is one major problem that is growing each day,

Site 1: Provo Canyon I chose a site south of the river and about 100 feet above it. The vegetation
was beginning to provide a high level of cover on the ground which made for an even distribution
of the plant life.
Site 2: Rocky Canyon I chose a site north of the canyon and off the trails so that I may find some

new species during my survey.
Site 3: Wymount Park I chose a site northwest of the Y symbol. The vegetation here seemed to be

Then divide the area into 15 separate 1 meter by 1 meter boxes. Then assign a number to each

Children s Testimony Of Judicial Proceedings Throughout...
Abstract
This research paper investigates children s testimony in judicial proceedings throughout the past
few decades. An increase in child abuse allegations in the 1980s resulted in mass allegations
throughout the United States. As a result, a child is interviewed by law enforcement and social
workers regarding what happened during specific incidents. Tactics to acquire the testimonyof the
children has been up for debate by the judicial system and psychologists. These tactics include
suggestibility, repeated questions, or stereotyping that may alter the testimony of children to
accommodate interviewers biases, knowingly and unknowingly, resulting in false arrests and
imprisonments. Psychological research has initiated a growing concern ... Show more content on

Children s testimonies have serious implications for the accused and the question of whether or
not children are reliable sources of information have been brought to the attention of judges and
cognitive psychologists. The history of court proceedings allowing child witnesses to testify has
seen an increase in false accusations against teachers, friends, and family members, bringing to
question as to why or how a child may come up with false memories. Psychological research into
the subject has shed some light on some possibilities as to how some children may be susceptible
to manipulations. Research into children s memories has serious implications to society an
individual s involved in a specific case. Three outcomes are possible (a) the researchers may
discredit the children s testimony in real abuse cases and strengthens the defenses case against a
real perpetrator; (b) the child who has witnessed or experienced a crime testifies accurately and
truthfully, resulting in a perpetrator going to prison and not committing another crime; or (c) the
child has given false accusations as a result of faulty interview tactics by law enforcement or social
service workers that result in false charges and imprisonment. Cognitive psychologists take these
instances into consideration when creating studies regarding children s memories and relating them
to the judicial system (Ceci Bruyn, 1993). One may be wondering why interview tactics that allow

The Code Of Federal Regulations Essay
What is a Veteran? According to Title 38 of the Code of Federal Regulations, a Veteran is a
person who served in the active military, naval, or air service and who was discharged or released
under conditions other than dishonorable. This definition clarifies that any individual that has
completed a service for any branch of the Armed Forces classifies them as a Veteran
, as long as they
were not dishonorably discharged. Veterans also have different classifications, which help
identify their Veteran Benefits. Our nations Veterans deserve the highest quality care. The US
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) operates more than 1700 sites and provides 8.76 million
Veterans annually. Veterans have served their country, provided a service to protect and fight for
our country, they have given up their freedom to provide the US citizens Freedom. These are our
heroes of today and our Veterans of tomorrow. Once these courageous men and women are back
on US soil they should have somewhere to turn to for health care (Norcross 2015). Currently there
have been some issues regarding the Health care that our Veterans are receiving. The Veterans
Administration has been stuck in debates about negligence and not providing Veterans prompt
treatment, for days to weeks to months for basic primary care services. There have been

The Fifth Symphony By Ludwig Van Beethoven
I have chosen to share three of my favorite pieces. Each piece is different by genre, artist, style,
and time. These three pieces should be familiar to most of the populations ears. I tried to choose
different types of pieces because I do not like to listen to the same artists or genre. My personal
musical taste is a variety of genres and choosing the three pieces represents my musical mixture.
The Fifth Symphonycomposed by Ludwig Van Beethovenis one of my favorite classical pieces.
Beethoven was a famous deaf composer and the most leading influential musical figure in the
Romantic era. The Fifth Symphony was written between 1804 and 1808. Beethoven held a
concert to debut his pieces, but it did not go as well as planned. The audience was bored and tired
from sitting in the auditorium too long that their interest level decreased. It was not until a critic by
the name of E.T.A Hoffmann wrote a review analyzing the symphony, in order to show his readers
the particular affects Beethoven used to create his music. The symphony soon began its popular
status as being the central item in that time period. The overall expression of this piece is about
the struggle against inner soul searching and winning the battle. Some listeners might perceive the
following events: an encounter with a force or struggle, a period of quiet soul searching, followed
by a further wrestling with the blocking barrier, and a victory over the combat while listening to
this piece. I do not believe that

Similarities Between Hard Rock And Hard Rock Music
Hard rock and heavy metal, not a solid mineral or a substance on a periodic table, but music.
Heavy metal and hard rock, both categories of the expansive rock genre. Even though rooted in the
same tree, these subgenera s have expanded to an indistinguishable sounds, and both have
cemented names into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their origins were not different. Starting in
England, landed a multitude of large groups rising the post war industry of 1960s. Bands such as
Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest formed to combat feelings of angst as a
low income factory workers, and to express thoughts counterculture that brewed in England. This

class youth of England, and slowly grew to the British and American top charts. ( Factory Music:
How the Industrial Geography and Working Class Environment of Post War Birmingham Fostered
the Birth of Heavy Metal ) However, as they grew, groups such as Led Zeppelin and Black
Sabbath changed their art style and subject matter to their own directions, this consequently created
a void between the hard rock and heavy metal groups that is known today. Style is everything, and
this is where both groups separate at the fork. Hard rock s style as stated by Allmusic, Hard rock

The Importance Of Sustainable Development On The Environment
Over the course of the past few decades, humans have truly started to understand and study issues
that threaten our environment in great depth. Modern environmental sustainability is defined as the
link between the health of nature and society, population growth, distribution of wealth and the
combined approach to development, equity and conservation not new to social and environmental
policy (Oiamo 23). The definition of sustainabilityhas transformed over time along with our
knowledge and continually evolving understanding of the word. Sustainable developmentis a
process that goes hand in hand with sustainability, however the definition is widely deliberated.
Nonetheless, the most accepted definition was coined from the Brundtland Report in 1987 is
development that meets the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations
to meet their needs (Oiamo 28). Succinctly, sustainable development is only using the essentials
needed to preserve ourselves as of right now, and nothing more. What lead to this present day
concept of environmentalism and sustainability were economic, environmental and social shifts
prior to the 1970s.These are known as the three pillars of sustainability and were contrived by
environmentalists such as Ebenezer Howard and Rachel Carson.
The major event that caused organizations, such as the World Conservation Strategy to develop the
three pillar concept was the industrial revolution and the effects it had on the world. One

Prior to the war the Ordinance Bureau had decided to begin evaluating breech loading carbines
for the cavalry. Ripley opposed breech loaders or repeating rifles for infantry use. There was a
belief that they would waste ammunition, and were expensive. His main complaint was that the
production of these weapons would curtail production of carbines. He saw the inherent advantage
of the breechloader for mounted service. It was far simpler to reload from horseback than a
muzzle loading arm. Because of this there many options for domestic carbines at the start of the
war. The Sharps carbine was the weapon that the North wanted. The Sharps Company would
produce over eighty thousand carbines during the war. But these were not enough. In response to
the demand for carbines various other arms of good quality such as the Smith and Burnside were
acquired. Some others of lesser quality such as the Cosmopolitan and Maynard were also
purchased at this time. Carbine production was centered in Massachusetts also. Smith carbines, of
which large numbers were ordered by the Government, were built in part by Massachusetts Arms,

Prohibition and the Effect on America
From the beginning of the 20th century multiple political organizations and the federal government
have fought to control alcoholism in America. I chose to do prohibition because the fact that the
action taken by the federal government in order to form a better society has led to an explosion of
criminal offences in the past as well as today. The effects of prohibition consistently offer a hand in
the shaping of American culture. Full fledged black markets and organized crimegroups both offset
the supposed benefits of prohibition. Today, teenagers often turn to the underage consumption of
alcohol to make them seem cool, or as a form of rebellion against parental and governmental
authorities. The temperance movementacted as a predecessor to the prohibition of alcohol in the
1920 s. The temperance movement relied heavily on the efforts put forth by the Women s Christian
Temperance Union (WCTU) and the Anti Saloon League. The WCTU lead thousands of women
united against alcohol to make great pushes against alcoholism; they introduced an anti alcohol
education into schools, and led protests for laws regulating and banning alcohol. The Anti Saloon
League used the saloon must go as the war cry of their moral crusade against the production, sale,
and consumption of alcoholic beverages. Both groups blamed alcohol for issues in society, issues in
the home, and the wretched living conditions found in the immigrant slums. Together these two
groups pushed America into

he also cared and loved for everyone. He would help those in need and enjoy it too. All around
Roberto Clemente was a wonderful man. In these next five pages I will be talking about his life
and how he was a good samaritan throughout his life.
Roberto Clemente was born in the summer in August 18, 1934. He was born in a house of
concrete and wood on an old country road in Barrio San Anton, Carolina, Puerto Rico. He was the
youngest of seven children. His father was a foreman overseeing sugar cane cutters and helped
deliver sand and gravel for a construction company. His mother did laundry, ran a grocery store
and did other jobs on the sugar cane plantation. Roberto did odd jobs so he could help the family
and buy himself a bicycle. Growing up, Roberto played baseball and participated in track and
field. He won medals for the javelin throw and short distance races. Throwing the javelin
strengthened his arm for throwing a baseball. Roberto was a very athletic boy.
Roberto Clemente had four brothers and two sisters. He did have to work with his father loading
and unloading trucks because his family was poor. He was very interested in baseball ever since
he was young and played against teams in his neighborhood. He went to Vizcarrondo High School

John K, Thornton s African Dimension Of The Stono Rebellion
On September 9, 1739, the Stono Rebellion took place in the colony of South Carolina. The
slaves, lead by an Angolan named Jemmy, stunned the plantation owners in their revolt against
their oppressive lifestyle. Their goal was to march all the way to Spanish Florida, but they were
eventually stopped by the militia. In total, about 60 white civilians were killed and many more
slaves experienced the same fate. This was such a significant uprising, not only because of the
lack of information we have about rebellions in general, but because it showed that slaves had the
ability to revolt against the harsh lifestyle that was forced upon them. While most historians can
agree that this was one of the most influential revolts, the best way to interpret this event is still
debated. Some historians, like William Stephen, hone in on the aspect of competition in his piece
Spanish Designs and Slave Resistance . While other look at specific factors. For example, John K,
Thornton sees that the best way to view the Stono Rebellionis to look at the African background of
slaves in his essay, African Dimension of the Stono Rebellion . Edward A Pearson, for example,
asserts gender is the way to comprehend this revolt in his essay Rebelling As Men . All of these
historians address important factors of the Stono Rebellion, however in order to best understand the

The children are encouraged to play because the environment is adequate and has maximized

much room to have many learning centres. According to Crowther, One way to maximize space
is by placing centres that are linked closer together so that the space and many of the materials can

Monetary Policy Essay
Monetary Policy
Monetary policy has some basic goals: to promote quot;maximum quot; sustainable output and
employment and to promote quot;stable quot; prices. The term quot;monetary policy quot; refers
to the actions undertaken by a central bank, such as the Federal Reserve, to influence the
availability and cost of money and credit to help promote national economic goals. The Federal
Reserve Act of 1913 gave the Federal Reserve responsibility for setting monetary policy.
The Fed can not control inflation or influence output and employment directly; instead, it affects
them indirectly, mainly by raising or lowering a short term interest rate called the quot;federal funds
quot; rate. The Federal Reserve has certain tools at its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using these tools, the Federal Reserve influences the demand for, and supply of, balances that
depository institutions hold at Federal Reserve Banks and in this way alters the federal funds rate.
The federal funds rate is the interest rate at which depository institutions lend balances at the
Federal Reserve to other depository institutions overnight. The point of implementing policy
through raising or lowering interest rates is to affect people s and firms demand for goods and
services. Changes in the federal funds rate trigger a chain of events that affect other short term
interest rates, foreign exchange rates, long term interest rates, the amount of money and credit, and,
ultimately, a range of economic variables. This shows how policy actions affect real interest rates,
which in turn affect demand and ultimately output, employment, and inflation.
Monetary policy can be quickly altered and can affect money supply and investments very fast
thus making speed and flexibility one of its strength. Members of the Feds board are appointed a
14 year term. This isolates them from lobbying so therefore no political pressure to contend with.
The tight monetary policy helped the economy succeed from 1980 thru to 1990 by bringing down
the inflation rate.
Monetary policy is not all strengths there are weaknesses also associated

similarities are the overly descript descriptions in the works, the titles that sound more like a short

Both authors are clearly speaking about poverty, discrimination, and the social classes. One key
thing that we can see in both of these passages is how they both take on a damn the man feeling.
We see in Riis work he is speaking out against landlord who is treating the colors tenants poorly,
and in Orwell s we see his feelings of disgust against industrialism. Industrialism is something
that was taking shape when both of these works were written. It also was a time period when
many people found themselves struggling to survive on the poor pay they were getting in the
factories. The unhappiness of the poorer class does seem to serve as inspiration for both of
these works. We can also see the social realism come into play in both of these works, as well as
their other works. However if we continue to focus on these two works we can see that both od
these authors distinctly focused on the conditions of the poorer class. Which is a key element of
social realism. By using social realism they also blurred the lines of fiction and

Tony The Tiger
Tigers are one of the fiercest species in the jungle, known for being courageous, strong, ambitious,
and independent. These animals fight to survive every day, but before knowing any of these
characteristic traits of the tiger I always wondered why people described themselves as the animal.
Tigers have been a great part of American culture, there is Tony the Tiger
on the cover of the
Frosted Flakes package, Tigger the energetic tiger from the animated series Winnie the Pooh ,
there is even two famous songs, one by a band named Survivor called Eye of the Tiger and
another by famous pop singer Katy Perry called Roar . I grew up with those famous references of
the tiger my whole life, but I never thought about the tiger until I read a... Show more content on

In the first sentence it states that Aunt Jennifer s tigers prance across a screen (Rich), which
does not tell the audience much and makes them think about what type of screen it maybe, but
there are only two types of screens that it could possibly be. During this period cell phones were
not created so that is out, computers were not invented yet so that is another no, but there were
screens for doors and screens from a television. I am going to go with door screen because as the
protagonist is a mother she had duties to fulfill at the house, and sitting watching tv was not
going to get anything accomplished. As Aunt Jennifer is washing dishes, and tidying up the
house for her hard working husband, she looks outside from her depressing life and looks at her
pride and joy, her children. Going back to the meaning of tigers with their courage, ambitions,
and strength the protagonist has none because she gave it all to her children. You can tell that
Jennifer has pride in her children from the words that are being used in the first stanza, chivalry ,
and do not fear , they are strong, and they will continue to give great joy and love. By the actions,
and thoughts of Aunt Jennifer there you can see how she really feels about her everyday life, by
using psychoanalytical criticism you can see that she loves being a mother to her children, but hates

Face Construct And Criterion-Related Validity Essay
There are differences among face, construct, and criterion related validity. Face validity assesses
a task under evaluation. A group of subjective experts evaluate face validity (Maribo, Pedersen,
Jensen, Nielsen, 2016). Face validity can be utilized to motivate stakeholders within an
organization. If stakeholders are not supportive of the results from face validity they will become
disengaged. For example, when measuring the level of professionalism during the hiring process
questions should relate to different levels of professionalism. If not stakeholders will not be
motivated to give their opinion and the true assessment of the hiring process will not be achieved.
Face validity considers the relevance of a test as it appears to testers ... Show more content on

367, 2012). This particular validity is important when it comes to legal defensibility. Construct
validity explains how what is being studied matches the actual measure. Criterion validity answers
the question of whether a test reflects a certain set of abilities. One way to assess criterion validity
is to compare it to a known standard. A reference is needed to determine an instrument s criterion
related validity. Criterion related validity predicts the future. If a nursing program designed a
measure to assess student learning throughout the program, a test such as the NCLEX would
measure student s ability in this discipline. If the instrument produces the same result as the
superior test the instrument has a high criterion related validity. The higher the results the more
faith stakeholders will have in the assessment tool. A criterion related validity study is conducted
by statistically correlating scores with some measure of job performance (Biddle, p.308, 2010).
Criterion related validity is most important when it comes to predicting performance in a specific
job, and predicting future

Monty Python Satire Essay
In the film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a confabulation took place between a nonsensical
King Arthur and a soldier with a keen interest in birds. In Monty Python and the Holy Grail we see
everyday acts of chivalry, being hilariously mocked. What, ridden on a horse?
Yes!
You re using coconuts!
What?
You ve got two empty halves of coconuts and you re bangin em together.
This is a prime example of satire directed at chivalry today. People seem to think that chivalry is
rooted so far in the past that it s gone. I can say that it may be gone from some minds, but
definitely not all. To be a good and true knight, a man had to follow certain ideals, ideals of
chivalry and courtly love. That consisted of, being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through means of this story, chivalry seems like a perfect ideal that everyone can and should do,
but in Monty Python and the Holy Grail viewers can see that maybe chivalry was sort of silly and
kind of hard to follow. In the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail they satirize the sort of
chivalry shown in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. For example, while Sir Gawain was
honorable and brave, Python s Arthur and his men were exactly the opposite. Arthur and his men
ran away from danger, they ran away when the French castle threw whole animals at them, they
ran away from the killer bunny and Sir Robin ran away when he realized that he was not going to
win the battle against the three headed knight. Clearly, the characters in Monty Python and the
Holy Grail didn t exhibit any of the ideals of chivalry. Chivalry was also well represented and
adored in the film Knights of the Round Table. In the film we see many chivalric acts take place,
but one act that I focused on was, when Arthur and Sir Lancelot were unknowingly fighting in the
woods. The film shows Arthur getting his sword stuck in a tree and Sir Lancelot getting it out for
him. So the chivalric idea of fighting a fair fight is shown when Sir Lancelot helps his opponent,
instead of just taking the advantage and winning. Once again this aspect of chivalry was

Dante Symphony Essay
Around the year 1855 Franz Liszt began working on the composition for one of his most praised
works, The Dante Symphony. The Dante Symphony is based of Dante s Divina Commedia,
which was introduced to Liszt by his mistress Marie D Agoult. The Symphony is composed of
two movements depicting Dante s Inferno and Purgatorio. At first Liszt wanted to depict the three
movements of Dante s Divina Commedia but an effective representation of Paradise in music,
Wagner insisted was impossible, and he counseled Liszt to abandon plans for an elaborate choral
finale (Grey, pg.56). However, towards the end of the sonata Liszt gives a glimpse of Paradise
from afar, setting it further from our reach, showing that Paradise is beyond comprehensible and

The introduction for the symphony, the Inferno, is slow and begins with three themes, the first
theme repeating itself. Each theme reflecting the lines that are inscribed over the Gates of Hell,
the last theme being Lasciate ogni speranza mi ch entrate! which translates to All hope abandon,
ye who enter here (Alighieri 9). After the three themes have been depicted there is a descent
motif which word paints or reflects Dante and Virgil as they descend into hell. One can find word
painting in the descent into hell, laughter painted into parts of the symphony, and the first people
Dante sees in hell who where neither good nor evil who seem to tread back and forth a path,
which Liszt paints in his symphony with melodies that go in one direction and then reverse
themselves. There are many examples of word painting in The Dante Symphony, which help the

new experience and idea of Dante s Divina

IMPERIALISM IN MOROCCO
Kendall Scarborough
Ms. Barile
Modern World History Honors
19 December 2016
Europe and specifically France had been after the land in Morocco for a long. As explained by
Furlong in his portion of A World s Work; The French Conquest of Morocco
, he states the reason for
European powers wanting control over Morocco.
Morocco is a white man s country once and a half the size of France four and a half times the size
of New England and the most productive state of North Africa perhaps the most productive area of
the entire African continent. A key to the Mediterranean almost touching Europe and a veritable
market garden for that continent contiguous to the
French territory of Algeria and but seven hundred miles from Marseilles with double the
population of Algeria and Tunisia combined good climate variety of mountains and plains
including the snow crowned classic Atlas range which shuts off or cools the heated winds that
blow up from the desert a rich fertile soil abundant rainfall well distributed rivers and a coastline of
1300 miles 300 on the Mediterranean 1000 on the Atlantic
Morocco is indeed the golden orange of Barbary and cannot escape the international grab bag of
Europe (Furlong).
The size of Morocco compared to those of other European nations and other geographical features
made Morocco a valuable asset to the imperial powers. In the beginning of the 20th century
Morocco had become a protectorate of France, and

Persuasive Essay On Parents At Home With Your Senior
The advice I am about to give you parents is priceless. It might fix any conflicts that may occur at
home with your senior. You need to listen carefully. Take notes. Lots of notes. Everyone knows
that you want be that parent with the honor student. You know, the one that drives around with
that sticker on their mini van. Don t deny it. Well, as a fellow senior, ill give you the key to
making your child good enough to brag to all your friends about. All parents care about their
child s GPA ... am I right? when approaching the seriousness of GPA with your senior you need to
lay down the rules. Make sure that you turn your beautiful house into a prison of sorts. Your
child needs to be told that they can not leave the house at any point in time (except for school)
unless their GPA is well above a 4.0. I mean an average GPA is obviously not acceptable. While
your senior might get angry at this, explain to them over and over that you just care about their
future. Making your child sit in a room for hours doing unnecessary busy work will most
definitely make them the star student you have always dreamed of parenting. Remember, no
friends and/or social life is the best for your child. Grades are the only thing that matter.
Technology is a huge part of students lives nowadays. Especially seniors. They have basically
grown up in the era of new technology. Thats if you have let them have any. Remember that
technology has completely ruined your senior and that you need to remove all

Activism In The Hunger Games
Today is Martin Luther King Day. Martin Luther King Junior was highly known for his activism
during the Civil Rights Movement. In his final Mountaintop speech, he proclaimed, The nation
is sick. Trouble is in the land; confusion all around. That s a strange statement. But I know,
somehow, that only when it is dark enough can you see the stars. And I see God working ... in a
way that men, in some strange way, are responding. Something is happening in our world. The
masses of people are rising up. (1) Martin Luther King Junior was a symbol of hope for equality for
the oppressed, peace for the nation, and most of all, love, for all people. This is a similar theme
found in Mockingjay. As The Hunger Games Trilogy comes to a close, Katniss Everdeen has

She volunteered to take her sister s occupation as a tribute for the 74th Hunger Games not
because she was attempting to be a heroine. However, this move was what catapulted her into
various tiers of activism. Her climatic activism occurred in Mockingjay. Everything she went
through led her to a place where she felt no option but to fight for equality, peace and love for her
people. She battled for complete equality for all 13 districts of Panem, sacrificed herself as a
whole for others safety, and in the resolution, she gave hope for the freedom to love. As the
Hunger Games trilogy draws to close, Katniss finally embraces the tender future ahead. She
might have felt like Martin Luther King Junior when he said, Darkness cannot drive out
darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. If you can t fly

The Visual Characteristics Of Tea And Porcelain In China
The visual sources provided throughout 14.1 14.4 assist in showing what items were used, and
why they were there at the time; while the descriptions give us evidence of how the products
were collected. In 14.1, there s many foreign items to take note of in the visual source provided
that is Tea and Porcelain in China. For example, the Porcelain tea cups, teapot, and saucer are all
in the image to show what materials were used at the time. Though the tea cups were
manufactured in China, they were specifically made for the target audience of European buyers.
There is evidence of this shown in the Chinese patterns on the cups and teapots. The Chinese
floral designs, clothing styles, creativity, and more had a major impact on the desires of the elite
upper class in Europe as they had become widely fascinated with all things Chinese. While the
Chinese had realized this liking of their designs by the European market, they used this to target
their buyers by making the teacups with cultured designs such as the Chinese gardens but also
tied in the European style houses to cater to the tastes of the European consumers. The woman
shown in the visual source looks as if she is from the upper class. Judging by her silk dress and
that she is using the Porcelain cups makes it most likely that this is the case. If the dress was of
unimportance, then there could be the possibility that she is involved in the trade but I would
argue that she is in fact in the elite upper class. This take

American History X Film Model
American History X (Kaye, 1998) is a provocative film that demonstrates various models and stages
of racial and ethnic identity development. This non linear narrative is an excellent example of how
this identity is not like a category that one fits into, but rather something that is dynamic, and in a
constant state of flux. The plot begins with an acquiesce 14yr. old European American boy named
Daniel Vinyard witnessing his swastika tattooed, skinhead , older brother Derek, brutally murder
two African American youths in front of their house. As the story line unfolds, it reveals how these
and other characters came to think in terms of certain development statuses of the models in the

That was the impetus that propelled Derek from disintegration to reintegration. He placed the
blame on any one that is not a European American, claiming the problems of the country aren t
white problems and that immigrants don t give two shits about this country. Derek obviously
spewing some of the twisted ideas of Derek s mentor Cameron Alexander, a notorious White
Supremacist Leader, is poised to become Cameron s protГ©gГ©. Danny narrates that is didn t
take long for Derek to make a neo Nazi name for himself, and Cameron knew how to exploit that.
He got Derek to recruit other confused youths who were exacerbated by the colored and Mexican
gangs that were enjoying a surge in street power Derek does a clever job rallying others into going
along with his hate crimes, and horrendous acts of terror. One particularly ignorant recruit was
named Seth was easily brain washed, thriving as an arbiter of hate. Together with the supremacist
gang, they viciously attacked a Korean grocery store just because they were immigrants, and they
knew people who used to work there. The vignette shows here that the veil of ignorance is so thick
that Derek truly had himself believing that he was doing something honorable by defending his
neighborhood. Instead, he infected his community with a fatal, insidious epidemic of blind hatred.

The Elimination of Natural Theology Essay
The Elimination of Natural Theology
ABSTRACT: The dispute between fideists and rationalists seems intractable since those who
argue for faith alone claim that they are offended by the use of reason in religion. The advocates
of reason claim that they are equally offended by the appeal to faith. This dispute may be
resolved by showing that those who rely on faith may be seen as engaging in an experiment of
living, so they can become part of a rational experiment without having to alter their practice; in
contrast, those who use reason to justify religion can be seen as addressing a spiritual need. From
an evangelical point of view, it would be wrong to disparage the mathematician s use of the
mathematical proof of God s existence (such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

purposes, it is sufficient to provide probabilistic arguments, it is not necessary to provide
demonstrative arguments. integrative rationalism = consider religion an integral part of the whole
enterprise of rational inquiry and accept the following:
(A) All claims with religious content and all religiously motivated actions and practices are subject
to the same kind of rational scrutiny and evaluation as any other claim or form of behavior i.e., the
religious and the secular are at parity as far as the jurisdiction of reason is concerned. By contrast,
pure fideists reject (A) without comment; ratiocinative fideists reject (A) but attempt to explain
their rejection, and conditional rationalists refuse to accept (A) until the kind of rational scrutiny to
which religion is to be subjected is spelled out.
The Controversy
Discovering the right relationship between faith and reason matters as much as finding the right
religion matters, yet the conflict seems irresolvable. Rationalists and fideists can both claim
legitimate descent in the history of religion, but the essence of one view seems categorically
unacceptable to the other.

Research: Hereditary Conditions and Deformities
Out of all the different hereditary conditions and deformities that one can have, I chose to talk
about anemia. Anemia is a condition that develops when your body lacks red blood cells or
hemoglobin in the blood. This is very serious because in your body, the red blood cells are there
to transport oxygen to your organs. When you lack the red blood cells, you are losing oxygen.
Anemia will affect everyone differently. There are more than 400 types of anemia that one person
may obtain. The different signs of anemia may vary depending on your type of anemia. Symptoms
to look for include being dizzy, weak, yellow or pale looking skin, headaches, heart problems, chest

But, there are some that we could try to stay away from like iron deficiency anemia and vitamin
deficiency anemia. These two types can be avoided by taking vitamins and nutrients that contain
iron, folate, vitamin B12, and vitamin C. If you may have concerns about the vitamins and
nutrients you are receiving from your foods, ask your doctor about a multivitamin that can help
out with decreasing your chances at getting anemia. There are different treatments for the
different types of anemia. With the form of Iron deficiency anemia (mild case), the treatment
will be to just take more iron. If there is major bleeding, the source of the bleeding must be
located and stopped from doing any further damage. This treatment will include surgery. The
type of anemia called aplastic anemia is treated by doing blood transfusions to raise your blood
cell levels. Each type of anemia is different, and not every single type of anemia can have a
treatment. If the cause of anemia is another disease, the doctors will focus more on trying to treat
the other disease which could possibly stop the anemia. Anemia isn t something that is easy for
others. It will affect their everyday life. A way that we can try to make these people feel better is
by doing only what they can handle with them. It will take off a lot of stress on their side, and can

brightest stars and most significant stars in the sky, the North Star (or Polaris). This constellation

  • 2. An Example Of Being Naked In Public From Modern Pop-Culture Hi all, I m a dog, so I will talk about few examples of being naked in public from modern pop culture. In the story The emperor s new clothes , the king walked out without any clothes at the end of the story in front of the public because two rascals sell an invisible suit of clothes that only smart people can see to the king. Since the king and all the helpers around do not want to admit they are not smart enough to see the cloth, the king walked out naked with his servants walked behind him with their hands raised to hold the imaginary mantle. I think this would be an example that a humorous character (the king) gets his comeuppance (walking naked in front of the public) because of his hypocrisy. Another one I can think of is the ... While StartupLister and Promotehour share the advantages of easier promotion, they also have the same downsides, which chiefly concern their unsuitability for smaller local businesses and/or non English speaking environments. Although these services are undoubtedly capable of boosting massive traffic and spreading the word out, this only refers to startups that are competing on an international level. But when it comes to locally focused companies, as well as the ones that operate outside of the English speaking markets, due to the language barrier things are quite more complicated, as these entrepreneurs primarily ought to be noticed in their own countries. • 5. Memento Mori Short Story Romanticism After close reading the short story Memento Mori by Jonathan Nolan I have come to the conclusion that Romanticism is prevalent in the story. After the attack that killed Earl s wife and injured Earl s brain, he lost his ability to make new memories and so he was controlled and confined by other people saying what they are doing is for his own good. Earl was trying to find his place in the universe, as every day he had to wake up and relearn where he is and what he is doing. He was a man driven by emotion, he had lots of hate and seemed pretty helpless but he also has a sense of dark humor that helps him deal with his reality. His emotion was a key part of the story as it triggered his actions. But of course, the only way he kept track of information... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Earl was looking at the picture of himself with flowers standing over his wife s fresh grave, Earl looks at the picture for a long time. Maybe he begins to cry. Maybe he just stares silently at the picture. Eventually, he makes his way back to the bed, flops down, seals his eyes shut, tries to sleep (p. 87). The hall of mirrors shows how lost and confused Earl still is. Earl would make jokes that are sly remarks aimed at no one but himself. An example of this is, CIGARETTE? CHECK FOR LIT ONES FIRST, STUPID. Earl laughs at the sign, lights his cigarette, and takes a long draw (p.86). He also titles himself The ten minute man . These all show how Earl did not take anything too seriously, he really had nothing to lose and he knew it. You can t have a normal life anymore. You must know that. How can you have a girlfriend if you can t remember her name? Can t have kids, not unless you want them to grow up with a dad who doesn t recognize them. Sure as hell can t hold down a job (p. 88). Being that he remembers everything before the accident he vividly remembers the accident it also means that he will never forget the face of the man who do it. After searching the internet, I found the name of the article Memento Mori has Latin roots, quoting Wikipedia, Memento mori is the medieval Latin theory and practice of reflection on mortality . What this all means for the story is it s about destiny and Earl is reflecting upon his wife s death, he would probably be content if he had gotten ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is the New City and the Old City. In the Old city there are many temples, one of the most important being the Haram esh Sharif, or Venerable Sanctuary. In the Old City there is also the Christian Church of Holy Sepulchre, which is the place where they believe Jesus Christ was buried after coming off the Cross. There is also the Wailing Wall that the Jews go to pray at. The Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque are there for the Muslim community. Jerusalem is the third holiest site for the Muslim population behind Mecca and Medina. Other things that the religions all share are that they all have their sacred places of worship. For the Christians there is the church. For the Jewish people there is the synagogue and then for the Muslims there is the mosque. They also all have their Sabbath or day of rest that they take time to go to their holy place of worship. The Jewish Sabbath is on Saturday while the Christian Sabbath is on Sunday. Synapsin Staining Report Discussion Based on the results of this experiment, it can be stated that there was no correlation between serotonin and synapsin staining in both Camponotus floridanus and Pogonomyrmex badius. The quality of synapsin and serotonin staining varied among all the individuals in the lab, some individuals would get good quality stains, while others get subpar stains. This would be due to many factors such as, amount of time spent in blocking solution, fixative, and both primary and secondary antibodies, dehydrating the brains for too long. The initial hypothesis was that there would be a large trace of serotonin and synapsin staining in the mushroom bodies and optic lobes of both ant species as both areas of the brain are critical to their survival, with respect to olfactory sensitivity and visual processing (Heisenberg 1998; Holldobler 1976). But, the quality and trace of serotonin and synapsin staining was not significant across almost all of the brain samples. I choose this theme as it is a very relevant and relatable subject for many people in our society. The four texts I chose were: the fictional novel Delirium , by Lauren Oliver, the song Blank Space by Taylor Swift, song Same Love by Macklemore and fictional novel Girl Online , by Zoe Sugg. There was a strong connection of love between two people in all of these texts. The first text that I looked at that showed the connection of love was Delirium. This song is about the struggles society creates for people identifying as a homosexual and discusses equality and discrimination of people that like the same sex. Macklemore was driven to write this song because of the issue of equal marriage right and the use of gay as degrading word in society and in the hip hop industry. He wanted to set an example for others in the music industry, and help change the stereotypes of homosexuality. As Macklemore writes in his song a bunch of stereotypes all in my head this shows that society riddles our brains into thinking that it isn t alright to be gay, when really it is. These stereotypes make it hard for people to feel accepted about their sexuality. This song discusses how gay is used in an insultive way as quoted in the lyrics; If I was gay I would think hip hop hates me, Have you read the YouTube comments lately, Man that s gay Gets dropped on the daily, We ve become so numb to what we re sayin These examples show the connection of love, but in a different way to what we would usually expect. This song has a different view on the connection of love compared to other books with the theme of love, as it is about homosexuality rather than heterosexuality. In my opinion I think what Macklemore is trying to convey is very smart, and I believe that there should be equality on who you love. I also thing that the words such as gay shouldn t be used with such negative connotations, and I m sure many others in our society would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ordeshook, four books mark the beginning of modern political theory: Anthony Downs s An Economic Theory of Democracy (1957), Duncan Black s Theory of Committees and Elections (1958), William H. Riker s A Theory of Political Coalitions (1962), and James Buchanan and Gordon Tullock s The Calculus of Consent (1962). Consequently, the full value of this research often goes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First I will provide an overview of what rational choice theory is and why it has staked such a prominent position in the discipline of political science. In this section I conclude that rational choice theory has indeed developed advanced methodologies at telling us how rational agents should behave. Then in my second section I will show, using the empirical case of the free rider problem and collective action, as well as the case of suicide terrorism, that rational choice theory cannot adequately account for actual political phenomena. In my third section I will provide some reasons for why this is the case. Finally, in my concluding section I will posit a theoretical framework incorporating some refinements to the assumptions behind rational choice theory that would better aid a predictive (but not universalist) political science. What is Rational Choice Theory? Rational choice theory is actually more than one theory per se, but the basic similarities among its variants mean that they can be intelligibly amalgamated for the purposes of critiquing its implementation in political science. Therefore public choice theory, positive political science, rational actor models, and the economic approach to politics, among others, refer to what we may call rational choice theory for the purposes of this essay. • 18. The Morality Of Bystanders In The Holocaust It is a challenge to reconcile human beliefs in compassion and morality with the actions, or inactions, of bystanders in the Holocaust. How is it possible that hundreds of thousands of people stood by while millions faced pain and suffering? Before exonerating or condemning all of them, it is necessary to consider the differences in bystanders. For the context of the Holocaust, a bystander is someone who was neither a target of the Nazis or a Nazi themselves. Putting all of these people in the same group is an oversimplification, because it ignores the power system in place during the Holocaust and the various positions of bystanders in that system. The wealthy business owner is not the same as the working class mother of four. In this situation, one has considerable power and ability, and the other does not. Applying a blanket statement, and calling the latter unjust when they are ordinary people in a time of horrific war is contrary to reason. It is also necessary to consider the extent of bystander s actions. Have their actions merely helped to ensure their own survival, or do they directly hurt Holocaust victims? The magnitude of each situation is varied. In conclusion, to gauge the morality of a bystander s actions, they need to be judged on an individual basis, with two qualities in mind: that person s ability to act and the effect of their actions. • 20. The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Iliad The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Iliad are two extremely different stories, The Iliad being a tale of war (specifically the Trojan War) while the Epic of Gilgamesh is a true Epic in the sense that it is a journey, all about the development of the characters. While there are many different themes throughout both books, one of the most important themes is the way that friendship develops both of the people involved and the way that it ties into the story overall. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Enkidu and Gilgamesh start off as polar opposites while in the Iliad, Achillesand Patroclus are great friends from the very beginning. In each of the stories, one of the friends dies and it leaves a permanent mark on the other that changes his behavior in a way that sets the stage for the rest of the story. However, I think that the greater change of the two happens in Achilles since the death of his friend leads him to completely change character, from the man who allows his friend to take his place while he cowers in fear to the man who leads the charge that wins the war. Gilgamesh on the other hand, continues the journey that he and Enkidu started but even until the end he struggles with his selfish nature. Prior to Enkidu and Patroclus their deaths, the friendships in each of the stories already have a profound effect on Gilgamesh and Achilles. At the beginning of the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is a tyrannical ruler in the land of Uruk. At the beginning of the story, we learn that he two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The impression of Macbeth to the audience has rapidly changed from loyal gallant, brave and trustworthy after the greed of ambition ,to become king, to a man that has lost his way, that doesn t know how to continue on wards. Macbeth stating, we still have judgement here, that we but teach/bloody instructions which being taught return/ to plague the inventor within the soliloquy it s showing how concerned and nervous he is, Macbeth s speech is symbolizing his nerves, and his hear rate within that long enjambment speech, because clearly it s showing us the lines from the speech is running over each other. Ripley opposed breech loaders or repeating rifles for infantry use. There was a belief that they would waste ammunition, and were expensive. His main complaint was that the production of these weapons would curtail production of carbines. He saw the inherent advantage of the breechloader for mounted service. It was far simpler to reload from horseback than a muzzle loading arm. Because of this there many options for domestic carbines at the start of the war. The Sharps carbine was the weapon that the North wanted. The Sharps Company would produce over eighty thousand carbines during the war. But these were not enough. In response to the demand for carbines various other arms of good quality such as the Smith and Burnside were acquired. Some others of lesser quality such as the Cosmopolitan and Maynard were also purchased at this time. Carbine production was centered in Massachusetts also. I chose to do prohibition because the fact that the action taken by the federal government in order to form a better society has led to an explosion of criminal offences in the past as well as today. The effects of prohibition consistently offer a hand in the shaping of American culture. Full fledged black markets and organized crimegroups both offset the supposed benefits of prohibition. Today, teenagers often turn to the underage consumption of alcohol to make them seem cool, or as a form of rebellion against parental and governmental authorities. The temperance movementacted as a predecessor to the prohibition of alcohol in the 1920 s. The temperance movement relied heavily on the efforts put forth by the Women s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) and the Anti Saloon League. The WCTU lead thousands of women united against alcohol to make great pushes against alcoholism; they introduced an anti alcohol education into schools, and led protests for laws regulating and banning alcohol. The Anti Saloon League used the saloon must go as the war cry of their moral crusade against the production, sale, and consumption of alcoholic beverages. Both groups blamed alcohol for issues in society, issues in the home, and the wretched living conditions found in the immigrant slums. Together these two groups pushed America into ... In these next five pages I will be talking about his life and how he was a good samaritan throughout his life. Roberto Clemente was born in the summer in August 18, 1934. He was born in a house of concrete and wood on an old country road in Barrio San Anton, Carolina, Puerto Rico. He was the youngest of seven children. His father was a foreman overseeing sugar cane cutters and helped deliver sand and gravel for a construction company. His mother did laundry, ran a grocery store and did other jobs on the sugar cane plantation. Roberto did odd jobs so he could help the family and buy himself a bicycle. Growing up, Roberto played baseball and participated in track and field. He won medals for the javelin throw and short distance races. Throwing the javelin strengthened his arm for throwing a baseball. Roberto was a very athletic boy. Roberto Clemente had four brothers and two sisters. The slaves, lead by an Angolan named Jemmy, stunned the plantation owners in their revolt against their oppressive lifestyle. Their goal was to march all the way to Spanish Florida, but they were eventually stopped by the militia. In total, about 60 white civilians were killed and many more slaves experienced the same fate. This was such a significant uprising, not only because of the lack of information we have about rebellions in general, but because it showed that slaves had the ability to revolt against the harsh lifestyle that was forced upon them. While most historians can agree that this was one of the most influential revolts, the best way to interpret this event is still debated. Some historians, like William Stephen, hone in on the aspect of competition in his piece Spanish Designs and Slave Resistance . While other look at specific factors. For example, John K, Thornton sees that the best way to view the Stono Rebellionis to look at the African background of slaves in his essay, African Dimension of the Stono Rebellion . Edward A Pearson, for example, asserts gender is the way to comprehend this revolt in his essay Rebelling As Men . The term quot;monetary policy quot; refers to the actions undertaken by a central bank, such as the Federal Reserve, to influence the availability and cost of money and credit to help promote national economic goals. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 gave the Federal Reserve responsibility for setting monetary policy. Using these tools, the Federal Reserve influences the demand for, and supply of, balances that depository institutions hold at Federal Reserve Banks and in this way alters the federal funds rate. The federal funds rate is the interest rate at which depository institutions lend balances at the Federal Reserve to other depository institutions overnight. The point of implementing policy through raising or lowering interest rates is to affect people s and firms demand for goods and services. Changes in the federal funds rate trigger a chain of events that affect other short term interest rates, foreign exchange rates, long term interest rates, the amount of money and credit, and, ultimately, a range of economic variables. This shows how policy actions affect real interest rates, which in turn affect demand and ultimately output, employment, and inflation. Monetary policy can be quickly altered and can affect money supply and investments very fast thus making speed and flexibility one of its strength. Members of the Feds board are appointed a 14 year term. This isolates them from lobbying so therefore no political pressure to contend with. A group of subjective experts evaluate face validity (Maribo, Pedersen, Jensen, Nielsen, 2016). Face validity can be utilized to motivate stakeholders within an organization. If stakeholders are not supportive of the results from face validity they will become disengaged. Through means of this story, chivalry seems like a perfect ideal that everyone can and should do, but in Monty Python and the Holy Grail viewers can see that maybe chivalry was sort of silly and kind of hard to follow. In the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail they satirize the sort of chivalry shown in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. For example, while Sir Gawain was honorable and brave, Python s Arthur and his men were exactly the opposite. Arthur and his men ran away from danger, they ran away when the French castle threw whole animals at them, they ran away from the killer bunny and Sir Robin ran away when he realized that he was not going to win the battle against the three headed knight. Clearly, the characters in Monty Python and the Holy Grail didn t exhibit any of the ideals of chivalry. Chivalry was also well represented and adored in the film Knights of the Round Table. In the film we see many chivalric acts take place, but one act that I focused on was, when Arthur and Sir Lancelot were unknowingly fighting in the woods. The film shows Arthur getting his sword stuck in a tree and Sir Lancelot getting it out for him. By contrast, pure fideists reject (A) without comment; ratiocinative fideists reject (A) but attempt to explain their rejection, and conditional rationalists refuse to accept (A) until the kind of rational scrutiny to which religion is to be subjected is spelled out. The Controversy Discovering the right relationship between faith and reason matters as much as finding the right religion matters, yet the conflict seems irresolvable. Rationalists and fideists can both claim legitimate descent in the history of religion, but the essence of one view seems categorically unacceptable to the other. The ... • 53. A Narrative Essay About My Mentor It was July 30, 1985. I had butterflies in my stomach! Today was the day I d debut with my husband, Randy Savage as his manager. I could hear Randy s voice he was talking to the manager s, his voice was deep plus they gave him a microphone, not that he needs one. I think he was talking to Mr.Fuji now, he was thanking them for their help. That was my cue. Thank you all but my manager is... , Randy yelled. I walked through the door and caught the attention of every fan in the arena. I was walking gracefully in my heels, which was harder than I make it look. As I came closer to the ring Randy held the ropes down like a gentleman, I stepped in and looked around with a huge smile on my face. Miss Elizabett , Randy smiled. I smiled back, it made ... Get a room , The blonde one said obviously jealous Shut it Owen , Bret hissed. As I went back to chilling with Bret, the door opened, but nobody seemed to notice because of me. Elizabett? , Randy whispered. Hearing my husband s voice made my trans slip away. Randy? , I said but quickly remembered the whole acting thing. I slapped him across the face which caused him to stumble back into his locker room. I walked in and shut the door. What was that for? , Randy yelled and held his cheek Some people are outside and they want to attack you , I whispered Sure that s why you were on Bret s lap , He said sarcastically I m telling the truth , I

  • 55. Hereditary Conformities Ciana Harte Research: Hereditary Conditions and Deformities Out of all the different hereditary conditions and deformities that one can have, I chose to talk about anemia. Anemia is a condition that develops when your body lacks red blood cells or hemoglobin in the blood. This is very serious because in your body, the red blood cells are there to transport oxygen to your organs. When you lack the red blood cells, you are losing oxygen. Anemia will affect everyone differently. There are more than 400 types of anemia that one person may obtain. The different signs of anemia may vary depending on your type of anemia. Symptoms to look for include being dizzy, weak, yellow or pale looking skin, headaches, heart problems, chest pain, hair loss, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But, there are some that we could try to stay away from like iron deficiency anemia and vitamin deficiency anemia. These two types can be avoided by taking vitamins and nutrients that contain iron, folate, vitamin B12, and vitamin C. If you may have concerns about the vitamins and nutrients you are receiving from your foods, ask your doctor about a multivitamin that can help out with decreasing your chances at getting anemia. There are different treatments for the different types of anemia. With the form of Iron deficiency anemia (mild case), the treatment will be to just take more iron. If there is major bleeding, the source of the bleeding must be located and stopped from doing any further damage. This treatment will include surgery. The type of anemia called aplastic anemia is treated by doing blood transfusions to raise your blood cell levels. Each type of anemia is different, and not every single type of anemia can have a treatment. If the cause of anemia is another disease, the doctors will focus more on trying to treat the other disease which could possibly stop the anemia. Anemia isn t something that is easy for others. It will affect their everyday life. A way that we can try to make these people feel better is by doing only what they can handle with them. It will take off a lot of stress on their side, and can boost their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Ursa Minor Research Papers My Cherished Constellation is Ursa Minor, also known as the little dipper. I have always been drawn to Ursa Minor because I have a series of moles on my leg that, as a child, I would play connect the dots on and discovered it looked a lot like the little dipper. I also had a special connection to the Ursa Minorconstellation because it is often depicted as the little bear and bears are one of my favorite animals. Ursa Minor is the 56th constellation in size and contains one of the brightest stars and most significant stars in the sky, the North Star (or Polaris). This constellation belongs to the Ursa Majorfamily of constellations, which includes such constellations as Draco, Leo, Lync, Corona Borealis and Ursa Major. Ursa Minor is a really interesting constellation with a historical and astrological connections. There is an unknown fourth myth as to how Callisto and her son Arcas were thrust up into the sky as mother and son, big and little, major and minor bear. Callisto was one of the most beautiful nymphs and though she had sworn a vow of chastity, Zeus could not resist her. After an affair with Zeus, Callisto gave birth to a beautiful son named Arcas. Arcas loved to hunt and would wander around in the woods dreaming of hunting and killing all sorts of animals. Artemis, who never forgave Callisto for destroying her virginity with Zeus, always kept a watchful and slightly vengeful eye on little Arcas. As he grew older, he became... • 57. Fulorenone Synthesis Lab Report A common problem that scientists encounter in chemistry is that two or three compounds are mixed together and they have to perform the purification and extraction to identity the single compounds that mixture contains. In order to separate the components of a mixture, various techniques can be used such as sublimation, evaporation, extraction, filtration, decantation, and more. In this lab, benzoic acid, benzocaine, and 9 fulorenone were mixed and acid base extraction, separatory funnel extraction, drying organic solutions, suction filtration, and melting point determination were used to separate the mixture in to more pure substances. For the acid base reaction, proton transfers occurred to result in compound polarity shifts, which allowed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
