The Mood Disorder Depression Essay
The Mood Disorder Depression Depression can be defined as an affective, or mood disorder
characterized by mood deviations that exceed normal mood fluctuations. At its most extreme,
depression can describe a psychotic state where the individual cannot function on his or her own.
Everyone can go through times of feeling down for a period of time after having suffered a loss, but
for people with the illness known as depression, these feelings of sadness can go on for long periods
of time. In fact, about 1 in every 10 of us will be seriously depressed during sometime in our lives. As
viewed by psychiatrists, depression is an illness in which a person experiences a marked change in
their mood and in the way they view themselves and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One type of depression is known as major depression which is the most serious of all types of
depression when speaking of the amount of symptoms and severity of symptoms. Some believe that
one must feel suicidal or have a history of hospitalizations in order to be considered to have major
depression, however this is not true. Bipolar depression usually occurs during ones early twenties, and
is a disorder which involves mood switches which are dramatic and rapid, nevertheless most often
they are gradual. It also deals with cycles of elation or mania which often affects thinking, judgment,
and social behavior. Bipolar disorder almost always involves abnormal moods at both ends of the
emotional spectrum. Those with bipolar depression can have extreme mood swings ranging from
extreme euphoria to incapacitating depression called manic episodes. Manic episodes usually begin
suddenly, and symptoms rise rapidly. During an episode of euphoria the persons self confidence is
inflated, throughout this the persons ability to function is verily impaired, they can run up bills or even
disappear for weeks at a time. About 2 million Americans suffer from bipolar disorder annually. For
both men and women the chances of getting bipolar disorder are equal. Another form of depression is
dysthymic disorder which refers to a

The Elven Star
I think that the star is very beautiful I do not know much about the Elven star yet but what I do know
about it is that it is a seven pointed star or, Then again it is known as a septagram or heptagram and it
other name is a faerie star a sacred symbol to the faeries. It is said to have many meanings it is just the
way the person looks at it. The number seven is also a number that I believe is a lucky number and it
is also just so happens to be the same number of points on the Elven star. Seven is surrounded by the

planetary magic. This seven pointed star is a gateway symbol this means that it is a opening for our
world and for the Faery, and the otherworld. The Faerie star has been selected by many old and newer
faiths, which is some of these modern day Wicca or witchcraft such as the Faerie Tradition and then
there is the Blue star. It has been found in the Former Georgian Coat of Arms (1918 1921; 1991 2004).
The Cherokee Nation has integrated the symbol into various bands of the Cherokee Nation. Many
police bodies use the 7 pointed star on their badges, the Navajo Nation Police are one of them.
According to The Elements Encyclopedia of Secret Signs and Symbols this star shows the seven stars
called the Pleiades. It represents the number seven. Seven is also a lucky number It represents the

The X92 Press [Case Study 15.1]
Introduction The key issues of this case are the salesperson is lack of understanding customer, lack of
preparation before interview, and lack of understanding the product itself. And solutions are required
to solve is problem the salesperson in order to salvage the sale. 1. What mistaken did Susan make? 2.
How should she have handled this sale? According to the case, one of the mistaken that Susan did is
lack of understanding her customer. She did not know the customer s problem and needs deeply, but
she only knows how to provide specification the product as well as list out the better result of the new
product comparing to the old ones. Even though she satisfied purchasing manager (Arthur Speddon),

In this case, production is refused to use PPM Ltd. s product again as he experience the problem of
control before. Besides, most of the buyer would make decision based on their need on their position
(Ingram, LaForge, Avilla, Schwepker, and Willams (2006), pg. 64). For example, purchasing manager
make decisions based on the needs of the company, also the value, benefits, features or technology and
price of the product (Ingram et al. 2006, pg. 85). On the other hand, production manager make
decisions by how to handling or control the product (Ingram et al. 2006, pg. 85). The decision of
production manager is essential because he understands the product of PPM Ltd more than purchasing
manager as he experienced the problems of the product but not purchasing manager (Ingram et al.
2006, pg. 85). Thus, similar to the case of Learning the ropes (Rix, Buss Herford 1999, pp. 302 304),
purchasing officer should make decision by accept the recommendation of the production manager
due to the production manager is the key person would affect final decision of sale as well as called
buying point. 4. What should Susan do now to try to salvage the sale? According to the case, it is
obvious that the production manager is lack of trust to PPM Ltd. s product due to his previous bad
experience of PPM Ltd. s product. In order to salvage the sale, Susan should have second interview

A Rambled Misadventure Short Story
A Rambled Misadventure
Now, to get this little fiasco kicked off I need to address something. Though yes this is first person I
am not apart of the story, nor did I hear this story from someone else. I was able to watch this terrible
misadventure, but I wasn t there to add to the ordeal. Think of me like these sorry group of misfits
guardian angel. instead of me helping them out of trouble, I laugh and watch when they get into and
subsequently try to get out of it. Our heroes start out this screw up of monumental proportions with
being arrested. The second, I had to remove the first due to budget cuts, was a thief or whatever he
was caught trying to take some gold from someone. The final was some warrior, he was trying to hit
people s kneecaps with his hammer, so the guards were, obviously, not too happy about that.
So the day of the trial they were grouped up together, because plot. When the judge first saw the group
his eyes lit up, sat up straight and beckoned one of his consultants over. they talked for a while pointed
and finally they stopped. The judge looked over at the group, smiled maniacally and said Alright I ve
got proposition, you guys get us this dog that s in that tomb outside and we ll set you free. the thief
realized early that this was suicide and then asked if they could just serve their time. The judge,
through laughter, responded with a wave of his hand and the assembly of rejects was pushed to the
giant hulking doorway. The tough guy astonished

1984 Personal Response Essay
Fear is something all humans share. This unity of having fear connects all of us together, along with
many other things. Fears themselves are not universal, and every human may have different fears. In
the novel 1984 written by George Orwell many common fears are brought into perspective, many of
which I can say I fear myself. While the question asked for the implications of the ending, for me to
fully understand the ending I must start from the beginning. The concern about the truth of history and
truth of the past, that the people in power are always watching you, and not being allowed to have real
emotions except towards the government are all fears brought on in the novel, especially with the
implications of the ending. As much as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately this all leads up to the ending, with 2 + 2 = 5. Mathematical laws of addition would show
that the equation of 2 + 2 would equal 4. Yet what is shown by the party s manipulation is that it is
possible to make someone believe that 2 + 2 = 5. By physically and mentally completely breaking
people down to an almost breaking point, it is possible to reprogram their thought process to really
think it equals five. This

What Will The People Read My Essay And Application Find...
When I first sat down to start this essay, I asked myself: What will the people reading my essay and
application find most important? Will it be the fact that I ve got strong experience in several areas of
sports media? Will it be the fact that I attend a top 10 public university in the entire country? Will any
of that even matter?
Personally, I believe the most important factor on why someone should receive a job or an internship
or any other opportunity is passion. Anyone can be a great writer, but is that person willing put in the
work daily, write against deadlines and even sometimes receive criticism for their work? Do they
wake up ready to get better each day? Do they wake up with a smile on their face knowing that they
are in their dream job, doing what they love?
If they don t, I certainly do. I believe that my passion is what sets me apart from other candidates. A
former professor of mine once told me a story about a young man who had talent he had never seen.
Everything came so easily to this young man prior to coming into college. This young man was the
star football player at his high school, he talked on camera for the school s morning news show and he
was a good looking guy. The problem? He had no passion for anything he did; rather, he simply
managed to coast through high school doing the bare minimum.
When he got to college, he expected everything to be handed to him. When he was asked to help with
anything, he d say no. He was only interested in being a

Glutamate Receptors
In glutamatergic synapses the neurotransmitter glutamate transmits nerve impulses. Glutamate is the
prevalent excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS). It can act on two
distinguished receptors: ligand gated ion channels (ionotropic receptors) and G protein coupled
receptors (metabotropic receptors). In addition, several drugs can interfere with glutamatergic such as:
Riluzole, N Acetylcysteine (NAC) and Tezampanel.
Synaptic transmission (i.e. the process of information transfer at a synapse) may be accomplished in
two distinguished manners: electrically and chemically. Chemical synapses are the most prevalent
synapses in the human nervous system. Both their synaptic cleft, which is approximately 20 50 nm
wide, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, all these subtypes express a common basic structure, i.e. the presence of four
hydrophobic regions (TM I, TM II, TM III and TM IV), an extracellular N terminus and an
intracellular C terminus (Bristol.ac.uk, 2015). NMDA receptors are formed by two distinctive subunit
families: GluN1 and GluN2. GluN1 is a fundamental component of all NMDA receptors and it binds
to one of the four GluN2 subunits (GluN2A D). This means that NMDA receptors located in different
parts of the brain may have different pharmacological and biological properties and may as well act
differently. Furthermore, in order for the NMDA receptor to fully work it requires glycine (co agonist
in this case) to bind to the GluN1 subunit and glutamate to bind to the GluN2 subunit. On the other
hand, AMPA receptors are formed by subunits of GluA1 4 while kainate receptors are formed by
GluK1 3 and GluK4,5 subunits and are essential for synaptic plasticity (i.e. changing the strength of
synapses, which might be linked to memory and learning). Furthermore, AMPA receptors and kainate
receptors mediate fast excitatory transmission while NMDA, which usually coexist with AMPA
receptors, mediate a slower excitatory transmission (Bristol.ac.uk,

Bromination Of Trans-Cinnamic Acid And Trans-Stilbene.
Bromination of trans cinnamic acid and trans stilbene
INTRODUCTION
Determining how a mechanism takes place is crucial in order to define a mechanism. In this
experiment, a mechanism was determined based on the purified product s melting point. This was
accomplished by comparing the acquired melting point with the one provided by Professor Link. (Q1)
When 0.252 g of trans cinnamic acid was mixed in 2.5 mL glacial acetic acid and introduced to 0.434g
pyridinium tribromide, the resulting product reflects an addition reaction. In general, reactions take
place to achieve its lowest Gibb s free energy because it s at this point where a structure is most stable;
in this case, the reaction is an addition of bromine into alkenes. (Q2) ... Show more content on

The melting point range was close to the anti structure, but because it was a widened range it is
speculated that the syn structure was also present. (Q9) However, this does not mean the other
mechanisms are completely discarded. Upon recrystallizing the pure product, a gross mistake
potentially skewed the results; non DI water from the ice bath was introduced to the crystallized
product by mistake. Recrystallization of the pure product was redone, but random ions from the ice
bath could have infiltrated the crystal lattice of the pure product thereby widening the melting range.
Also, the melting range could have been affected by the temperature intervals used; time was running
out and the Digi Melt was programmed to increase in intervals of 10°C instead of 5°C. This could
have affected the melting range observed significantly; slow and steady probes to be a better method.
(Q10) Both the percent yield (106.5%) and recovery (54.75%) are not ideal numbers; ideally,
percentages should be close to 100% but not over or under. As mentioned above, (in Q9), a gross
mistake occurred where non DI water got into the pure product as it was recrystallizing; the flask s
buoyancy caused it to tip over and the non DI water from the ice bath got inside the pure product. This
affected the data as electrolytes from the ice bath could now be part of the crystal lattice of the pure

Maus Father
Art refers to his work as realistic fiction as a way to convey that this is his interpretation of his father s
history. Maus and Maus II aren t necessarily the exact way that his father experienced things, but
rather Arts way of piecing together his father s story as it was told to him which he must then morph
so that it adheres to a comic book representation. The clearest example of this is in the early pages of
Maus II when Art appears to break the fourth wall. See what I mean... In real life you d never have let

Lee Harvey s Assassination

Bronx, New York. Since his mother worked long shifts, young Oswald was mostly left on his own.
Usually spending time in the library or playing hooky in his eighth grade classes. Oswald was
eventually put into detention, where his social worker described him as emotionally detached like a
kid that nobody cared about Later in life Oswald began to show an interest in the socialist literature,
that he used to read about in New York. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1956 and became a good
marksman, but was martialed twice for having an illegal weapon and displaying violent behavior. He
later ended his military service and traveled to Moscow where he informed russian authorities that he
wanted to join the Soviet Union. Dissatisfied with life in the Soviet Union, Oswald left a year after
marrying Marina Prusakova in 1961, bringing her and their newborn daughter with him. Their young

Instant Crush Poem Analysis
Vocal Styles Expressive sincerity, authenticity, and intimacy in vocal music require a significant
connection between the voice, vocal music and the text itself. This analytical essay will investigate
this statement using Franz Schubert s Erlkronig and a contemporary song: Instant Crush by Daft Punk.
A Lied is a type of German song of the Romantic period, typically for the solo voice with piano
accompaniment. Erlkronig is a Lied written for piano and voice by the Austrian composer Franz
Schubert in 1815. One of the special features of this piece includes one singer using his/her voice to
depict the 4 different characters of the song: The narrator, the father, the son and the Erlkronig. The

The rise in pitch conveys the boy s heightened fears of the Erlkronig and his children. The dynamics
are forte however they slowly decrescendo, indicating the boy s spirit dying away. During the father s
lyrics, the right hand of the piano uses unison octaves and block chords. In contrary, the left hand
plays single semibreves. (Bars 112 130) The key then modulates to a new key D minor. The context of
the lyrics state that if the boy won t go willingly with the Erlkronig, he will have to take him by force.
The boy who is terrified, screams out loud and shortly passes away. During the Erlkronig s part, the
melody moves in chromatic steps which expresses the idea that Erlkronig has lost patience and will
take the boy by force. This is the climax of the song from pianissimo (pp) to fortississimo (fff). (Bars
130 147) The key returns to the original key signature of G minor. Also, the narrator returns and states
the father riding like the wind on his horse and finally reaching the safety he was seeking. His son is
dead in his arms. This final section has the largest range starting at D below the staff rising the G
above the staff then moving back to D below the staff which is the dominant of the current key
signature, G minor. The piece ends with a decrescendo and

The Pros And Cons Of Forced Marriage
Forced marriage is when one of the two parties involved, this usually being the female, does not
consent to the marriage but are forced into it by their family or community. In Australia, forced
marriage is illegal but this does not seem to stop people from being taken overseas to be married, so
should this practice still continue to be illegal in Australia if it isn t being prevented?
In many cultures and religions, marriage is considered a family matter. Parents believe that it is their
duty to choose who their child will marry, and by not doing so they would be going against tradition
and neglecting this fundamental part of the marriage process (Justice.gc.ca. 2016). By going through
with a forced marriage, the daughter or son who is a part of the marriage is seen to be bringing honor
to his/her family. This could make the daughter/son feel like she/he is helping their family by going
through with the marriage (Rubinstein, 2013).
In forced marriages, a lot of women tend to not have a choice and are often abused by their husbands
after the ceremony is over. Joelle Mazoud is a first generation Australian Lebanese woman who was
forced into marriage at the age of 16. A week after arriving in Lebanon, she met her husband once and
was then married. Joelle was left in Lebanon with her new husband. She suffered 11 miscarriages over
8 years and she was constantly being abused (Angel, 2013). Women should not have to suffer under
such cruel circumstances just to bring honour to her family.
If the young woman or man refuses to go through with the marriage, they are instantly exiled from
their family and they are looked down upon by their community as a disappointment. Amina was set
to be married at the age of 18 to a man she had never met. Amina refused the forced marriage because
she still wanted to study and have a life of her own. As a result, Amina lost all of her relationships
with her family and community and was forced to live on her own and become independent (Vidal,
2016).
In Australia it is illegal to cause a forced marriage or be a third party to a forced marriage. The
Commonwealth Criminal Code Act 1995 contains the offenses of forced marriage which includes
agreeing to a forced marriage of a person who

VICE and Thomas Morton use countless images of pathos such as rotten fruit, empty farming fields
with tomatoes laying to waste, overflowing mailboxes at an abandoned trailer park, and an empty
place of employment that use to be filled with immigrant workers. The images of rotting fruit invokes
a feeling of waste among most because the epidemic of hunger is a well known problem across the
US. The abandoned trailer park invokes a feeling of sadness knowing that it was once populated with
immigrant workers. Thomas Morton states, ... once populated exclusively by immigrants until
alabama passed one of the most harsh pieces of anti immigrant legislation in the country and most

virtually abandoned trailer park who states, Many of them[Latino immigrants] left because cops were

piece of rhetoric because it evokes sympathy. In conclusion, VICE s Sweet Home Alabama is an

The role of women in The Epic of Gilgamesh

In the ancient times males were inessential to the preservation of life. The Epic of Gilgamesh shows
how the inability of males to give birth causes a sense of despair and alienation. While the
representation of women might seem confusing at first with its wide range of traits, the epic tries to
demonstrate all aspects of women, some are dominant in some ways. They are valuable advisors, and

face his reality, tries to make him understand: There is no permanence..It is only the nymph of the
dragonfly, that sheds her larva and sees the sun in its glory. Metaphorically using the dragon fly,
Utnapishtim clearly lets Gilgamesh know how the story ends. Males are not mortals, only females are.
They do not possess the power that everlasting life brings, only females do. Therefore they cannot
procreate, only females can. After all her explaining, he stubbornly sticks with his theory that there is
some kind of hope that males can obtain mortality. Knowingly, Utnapishtim agrees to test Gilgamesh.
She gives him the test of the seven loaves of bread. The loaves symbolized generations. Gilgamesh

The Importance Of Names In George Orwell s Animal Farm
Why would you change your name? A couple of people have, like Eric Blair, author of Animal farm
and Nineteen Eighty four. He decided to change his name. But why would he? Along with, Charlotte,
Emily, and Anne Brontë, and C.S. Lewis. They changed their names for a similar reason. It s silly to
think they would change their names over writing. Like, poems, books, and novels. Well, I guess you
can say it s a bit silly, but you haven t heard their stories. Eric Blair, he changed his name to George
Orwell. He feared that his work would embarrass his family. There for, he changed his name so that he
could right with out feeling so bad about how his family would react. What about C.S. Lewis? He did
the same thing. He was a professor and feared that he might lose his job for his books. So, he changed
his name to Clive Hamilton to publish his poems. Oh, we can t forget about the sisters. Charlotte,
Emily, and Anne Brontë. They wrote poetry and novels under male names. But.... Why male names?
Well, they feared that people wouldn t take them seriously if they were women. So they changed their

new chance to do something different. Like the book called, Harry Potter. This is what she said when
she was asked why she chose a new name, she said, and I quote, I was yearning to go back to the

totally unvarnished feedback. It was a fantastic experience and I only with it could have gone on a

The Rise Of Team Management
Team management arose in Japan and Israel, after the development in North America, it broke through
the limitation of culture and spread worldwide. Management team is defined as the work of 2 to 20
members of groups, whose work tasks associated with each other s and jointly responsible for the
results of team work (Demaetto, 1997). The rise of team management can not only improve the
employees satisfaction, promote the transformation and creativity, control and constraint members
behavior effectively (Levati, 1975), but also has great significance in preventing negative effects after
the increase of organization scale.

The turnover of top managers of a company is very important and may provide for the conflicting
results on the effects of the outsider succession (Karaevli, 2007).
However, in real life, because there is always a variety of difficulties need to be solved in people s
relationship, it is hard to find a perfect team. Then, the problem is how can we minimize the
differences and gaps, give full play to each team member s personal advantages, and maximize the
advantages of the whole team?
First of all, in the initial phase of building the team, manager should have efficient, reasonable
planning. Many of management tools can be used to simplify the team construction work. By
understanding of employees in depth, managers can define their team members advantages and
disadvantages, the likelihood of work and style to deal with problems, the difference of basic values,
etc.; Through these analysis to obtain between team members in the formation of a common faith and
a consistent view of team purpose and to establish the team running rules and mechanisms. Evaluating
the comprehensive ability of the team by analyzing the team environment, then find out the gap
between present comprehensive ability and requirement of accomplishing the goal, and make it clear
how teams play advantage, avoid threat and improve the ability to meet the challenges. It is important

The Ramayana Of Valmiki And Sita Sings The Blues
The Ramayana of Valmiki and Sita Sings the Blues
The epic story of Rama and Sita, as portrayed by Valmiki s Ramayana and the modern day film Sita
sings the Blues are two different versions of the same story which contain several contrasts as well as
similarities. The Ramayana is the ancient version which was written by a sage named Valmiki in 550
B.C.E, featuring a love story between an ideal prince and an ideal woman. It outlines the adventures of
Rama in his journey to find his abducted wife Sita. Rama is portrayed as an avatar, being the eighth
incarnation of one of the Hindu gods Vishnu, while Sita is representing Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess
of light. The modern day version of the Ramayana is seen in Sita Sings the Blues, where the animator
Nina Paley is relating her love story to that of Sita s predicament. This paper will compare and
contrast the epic story of Valmiki s Ramayana and Sita Sings the Blues in the quest for power, honor,
faithfulness and the conflict between good and evil.
The author Valmiki in Ramayana discussed in detail human relationships, such as those between
husband and wife, parents and children, siblings, rulers, and the ruled as shown in the story. It is often
referred to as a holy text as well as a guide to social practices and attitudes. Nina, the animator of the
film, Sita Sings the Blues, was seen reading the Ramayana constantly because it provided some sort of
comfort to her. In the Ramayana, paragraph one, it says It is a heroic epic about

David Hume Argument For Motivation
Many philosophical pieces and writers have attempted, throughout history, to explain motivation and
the factors which lead to motivation. A main topic among discussions of motivation is the separation
between sole belief, and action upon that belief and what stimulates actions based on such beliefs.
David Hume, a philosopher from The Age of Enlightenment, proposed his understanding and
argument for motivation, which has been coined as: The Humean Theory of Motivation. According to
The Humean Theory of Motivation, reasons are a necessary motivating factors of acting on a belief.
He believes that motivation is not a sole matter of moral judgments, but that beliefs only influence
behavior and action in combination with emotional states. These ... Show more content on

Despite its strong explanation and relevance, there are criticisms towards this theory regarding
motivating factors and reasoning. Specifically, some argue that The Humean Theory of Motivation is
the idea that The Humean Theory of Motivation is objectively not normative(Hubin, 1999), or not
directly stating what ought, or what ought not be. Another, more complex, argument against The
Humean Theory of Motivation is written in G.F. Scheuler s The Humean Theory of Motivation
Rejected, He explains that, while desires are surely present in reasoning, desires are not solely
applicable, and do not have a sole force on motivation. He states that reasoning is done with
representations of things, not the things themselves, even when the things being represented are one s
own desires(Schueler, 2009). In other words, Scheuler believes that if an individual is is reasoning
how to satisfy her desires in accordance to desire belief based reasoning, that the reason is causing the
motivation, rather than the desire itself. He is stating that when one reasons with desire they are
representing the desires rather than only being focused on the desire itself(Schueler,

The Black Panther Party s Legacy
The recollection of the Black Panther Party s legacy more than often remains to linger on in the
collective memory as a group of armed leather clad radicals of the 1960 s. Although this memory is
true, the Black Panther Party in actuality had more substance than just their attire. They were a
political organization that reinforced human rights, they were leaders of self defense against a police
state that relentlessly brutalized black bodies, and caretakers of poor black communities that were
receiving little to no attention by the state. They were an organization in bloom looking to create
solidarity and heal within the black community by whatever means necessary. The Black Panther
Party is believed to be a revolutionary force that has helped shape movements of today. Within this
analysis we would like to unearth the history of the Black Panther Party including its origins, their
struggles, ultimate demise, and contributions to movements of the contemporary world. We feel that it
is important to rediscover this information because most of the occurrences that had appeared in the
1960 s against black bodies continues to this day. It is our duty to learn from our teachers, like those
members of the Black Panther Party, in order to educate ourselves on how to create a better future. It
all started in the fall of 1966 in Oakland California when two young intelligent black male students of
Merritt Junior College questioned America s ethics. These two young

Steven Wallace
Steven Wallace is one of the most respected poets in America. Through his progression, he had full
determination to become successful writer. He was a philosopher of aesthetics, vigorously exploring
the notion of poetry. From his extreme technical and thematic complexity of his work, employing
extraordinary vocabulary, and rigorous precision of crafting poems, Stevens was considered a
willfully difficult poet. He was acknowledged as eminent abstractionist and a provocative think. His
reputation lives on since his death.
Wallace Stevens was born in Reading Pennsylvania on the 2nd of October in 1879. His family
belonged to the Dutch Reformed Church and when Stevens became eligible, he enrolled in parochial
schools at the age of twelve; there, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two years later, his father passed away and his mother passed away in 1912. During this period,
Stevens discontinued his passion to write poems, yet he was involved in New York City s artistic
community. He had many several friends among New York writers and painters in Greenwich Village
including poets such as William Carlos Williams, E.E Cummings, Marianne Moore. During this time,
he had a fondness for modern painting, eventually becoming a collector of Asian art, including
pottery, and jewelery. He admired Asian works for their vivid colors and their clarity, qualities that he
later imparted to his own works. Through many periods of job changes, he was one of the most
impressive literacy achievements. In the year 1915, he produced his first significant poems, Peter
Quince at the Clavier and Sunday Morning, and in 1916, he published his prize winning play, Three
Travelers Watch a Sunrise. He detached himself from all world affairs and politics; though he cheered
on for Italians fascist leader, Benito Mussolini Wallace contended that his art constituted to reality.
After a successful life, Wallace Stevens passed away due to cancer on August, 1955. Years after his
death, Stevens reptation remains inspirational and respected. His abstraction and his diction of his
poetry has proven particularly among many students and academicians. Stevens is an example of a
poet whose main output came at an advanced

The Other Being Grandfather Safran
1. It was through this hole that the women of the shtetl took turns viewing my great great great great
great grandmother. Many were convinced ... she was of an evil nature ... they had to piece together
mental collages of her from each of the fragmented views ... (20).
Brod is among the two most interesting characters in the book (the other being grandfather Safran).
Her story is unique, and her arrival to the shtetl in 1791 is so powerful and unusual that it becomes a
tradition (adopted in the form of Trachimday). Brod seems to exert a kind of enigmatic yet clearly
benevolent semblence, and even as a small baby resting in the synagogue, people are drawn to her.
The passage illustrates how Brod s influence was wide spread (unintentional ... Show more content on

We discover that Yonkel was once a respected moneylender within the shtetl before he was found
guilty of un fit practices and lost his usurers license. This turning point in Yonkel s life changed him
literally. He adopted the name Yonkel in exchange for the name Safran. Safran s wife was very
disappointed when her husband lost his license, and so she ran off with another man, leaving behind a
note that would trouble Yonkel for the rest of his years.
Simply put, the note is the representation of Yonkel s past returning to haunt him. In the same way that
he cannot bear to keep the note, he cannot allow himself to dwell on the unfortunate events of the past
that lead him to this frustrated moment of stasis. If he were to continually ponder everything that went
wrong with his life, he would make himself mad (the beginnings of which become apparent when he
thinks about his wife with the other man). While Yonkel cannot keep the note, neither can he simply
throw it away. There is a small stubbornness in Yonkel s conscience that makes him not want to
outright destroy the note and forget his disgraceful past.
The heart of the matter all comes down to Yonkel s wife, for the note ultimately represents his feelings
about her. Yonkel is experiencing a bittersweet emotion that is trapping him in this stasis: he is angry
at his wife for leaving (his reason to discard the note), but at the same time he cannot simply stop

Contemporary Psychodynamic Authors
Contemporary psychodynamic authors define defenses as unconscious mental processes that function
to defend against extreme anxiety (e.g. Valliant, 1994). Moreover, defenses are observed as being both
protectors against unconscious feelings and relational and cognitive behaviours that protect the self
(Cooper, 1998). Currently there is no consensus as to the number of defenses that exist however, in
The Ego and the mechanisms of Defense Ana Freud (1936/1986) discusses ten. However,
subsequently there has expansion of recognised defences (Kramer 2013). Although, authors vary on
the number of defenses that are present, there is a largely an agreement on the role of defenses. The
function of these defense mechanisms is to modify internal psychological conditions such as emotions
and thoughts by changing the meaning or implication of perceived threats (Kramer 2013). Defenses
are utilised differently in borderline personality and comparable disorders and therefore necessitate
accurate identification for therapeutic appropriate intervention (Cooper, 1998).
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a severe and dominant psychiatric condition featuring
affective instability, marked impulsivity, and substantial deficits in the ability to work and sustain
meaningful relationships (Hadjipavlou and Ogrodniczuk 2010). In addition, BPD individuals suffer
with deep fear of abandonment, identity conflicts and paranoid ideations (Hadjipavlou and
Ogrodniczuk 2010). Further, BPD individuals

Indie Rock Band Of Montreal Concert Analysis
Indie rock band of Montreal will grace the stage of Bears on Fairfield tonight at 10pm. This will be
their second stop on a 41 city tour across the United States.
Chase Boytim, owner of Bears, is excited about tonight s show since he missed an opportunity to see
them a few years ago.

years ago but had my own show I couldn t get away from he said.
Since 1996, of Montreal has colored outside of the music lines and explored different genres. The
Athens, GA based band started with an indie pop sound and through the years they experimented with

We have an unconventional production for indie rock band. We want to create an evening that s

Boytim agrees that this show will be very special for Bears and Shreveport.

Panthers Football Team
The New Richland Hartland Ellendale Geneva Panther football team surprised many people this year
with their success. Overcoming the low expectations of many people, this team went 7 3 and won a
playoff game. Many kids stepped up at their positions and gave the squad a whole new look on the
season. Instead of being below average, the Panthers became a tough, play off contending team to
watch out for. Before the season started there wasn t too much confidence from anybody, not even
from the coaches and players. Assistant coach of the Panther Football team, John Schultz, said I would
say we probably would win about three games by beating the teams that were really down and lose to
the average and above average teams. The reason the lack of confidence was their was because of how
heavy they graduated. The Panthers lost their starting quarterback, fullback, two linemen, and a wide
receiver. Every one of these players were key players in their six wins last season. The big question in
the pre season was whether or not new faces could fill the shoes of the graduated seniors. Since these
players were all talented in their own ways, it seemed impossible. Fortunately, all of these positions
were filled with young players that had determination and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the rest of the game was played in terrible conditions. The storm had gotten so bad, lightning started

day for the players, the final minute and a half was played and the Panthers came on top with a 6 0

Schlieffen Plan Essay
At the outset of World War I, Germany wanted to avoid a two front war at all costs. However, due to
the Franco Russian Alliance, Germany was forced to issue an ultimatum to Russia. Meanwhile,
Germany s ally Austria Hungary mobilized it s troops to crush Serbia (This placed Russia in a bad
spot because the state believed that it was Russia s duty to protect the Slavic people in the Balkans).
Russia did not want this situation to make them look weak, so Czar Nicholas II ordered a partial
mobilization. Unfortunately, the army reported to the Czar that they could not partially mobilize. It
was full mobilization or nothing at all. Left with no other choice, the Czar signed orders to fully
mobilize on July 30, 1914. After full mobilization was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

by 1884, he had become the head of the military history section of the general staff. Due to his
experience, Schlieffen was asked to formulate a plan to avoid a war on two fronts: Russia and France.
The Schlieffen Plan became the operational plan for a designated attack on France once Russia, in
response to social tensions, had mobilized. The German Army Chief of Staff, Alfred von Schlieffen
had been asked to formulate a plan to avoid a war on two fronts: Russia and France. His strategy was
meant to ensure a quick victory for Germany, which involved the bulk of the German Army, which
was ninety percent, having to march through Belgium, Holland, and Luxembourg, then surrounding
the French troops in Paris. After the French had been defeated, the French Army would combine with
the German Army, and they would defeat Russia. Schlieffen felt that it was more important to take out
France first, because it was identified as Germany s most dangerous opponent. Russia was not as

Besides, most of the buyer would make decision based on their need on their position (Ingram, LaForge, Avilla, Schwepker, and Willams (2006), pg. 64). For example, purchasing manager make decisions based on the needs of the company, also the value, benefits, features or technology and price of the product (Ingram et al. 2006, pg. 85). On the other hand, production manager make decisions by how to handling or control the product (Ingram et al. 2006, pg. 85). The decision of production manager is essential because he understands the product of PPM Ltd more than purchasing manager as he experienced the problems of the product but not purchasing manager (Ingram et al. 2006, pg. 85). Fears themselves are not universal, and every human may have different fears. In the novel 1984 written by George Orwell many common fears are brought into perspective, many of which I can say I fear myself. While the question asked for the implications of the ending, for me to fully understand the ending I must start from the beginning. The concern about the truth of history and truth of the past, that the people in power are always watching you, and not being allowed to have real emotions except towards the government are all fears brought on in the novel, especially with the implications of the ending. • 7. What Will The People Read My Essay And Application Find... When I first sat down to start this essay, I asked myself: What will the people reading my essay and application find most important? Will it be the fact that I ve got strong experience in several areas of sports media? Will it be the fact that I attend a top 10 public university in the entire country? Will any of that even matter? Personally, I believe the most important factor on why someone should receive a job or an internship or any other opportunity is passion. Anyone can be a great writer, but is that person willing put in the work daily, write against deadlines and even sometimes receive criticism for their work? Do they wake up ready to get better each day? Do they wake up with a smile on their face knowing that they are in their dream job, doing what they love? If they don t, I certainly do. I believe that my passion is what sets me apart from other candidates. A former professor of mine once told me a story about a young man who had talent he had never seen. Everything came so easily to this young man prior to coming into college. This young man was the star football player at his high school, he talked on camera for the school s morning news show and he was a good looking guy. The problem? He had no passion for anything he did; rather, he simply managed to coast through high school doing the bare minimum. When he got to college, he expected everything to be handed to him. • 10. Glutamate Receptors In glutamatergic synapses the neurotransmitter glutamate transmits nerve impulses. Glutamate is the prevalent excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS). It can act on two distinguished receptors: ligand gated ion channels (ionotropic receptors) and G protein coupled receptors (metabotropic receptors). In addition, several drugs can interfere with glutamatergic such as: Riluzole, N Acetylcysteine (NAC) and Tezampanel. Synaptic transmission (i.e. the process of information transfer at a synapse) may be accomplished in two distinguished manners: electrically and chemically. Chemical synapses are the most prevalent synapses in the human nervous system. Both their synaptic cleft, which is approximately 20 50 nm wide, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nonetheless, all these subtypes express a common basic structure, i.e. the presence of four hydrophobic regions (TM I, TM II, TM III and TM IV), an extracellular N terminus and an intracellular C terminus (Bristol.ac.uk, 2015). NMDA receptors are formed by two distinctive subunit families: GluN1 and GluN2. GluN1 is a fundamental component of all NMDA receptors and it binds to one of the four GluN2 subunits (GluN2A D). This means that NMDA receptors located in different parts of the brain may have different pharmacological and biological properties and may as well act differently. Furthermore, in order for the NMDA receptor to fully work it requires glycine (co agonist in this case) to bind to the GluN1 subunit and glutamate to bind to the GluN2 subunit. On the other hand, AMPA receptors are formed by subunits of GluA1 4 while kainate receptors are formed by GluK1 3 and GluK4,5 subunits and are essential for synaptic plasticity (i.e. changing the strength of synapses, which might be linked to memory and learning). Furthermore, AMPA receptors and kainate receptors mediate fast excitatory transmission while NMDA, which usually coexist with AMPA receptors, mediate a slower excitatory transmission (Bristol.ac.uk, ... • 11. Bromination Of Trans-Cinnamic Acid And Trans-Stilbene. Bromination of trans cinnamic acid and trans stilbene INTRODUCTION Determining how a mechanism takes place is crucial in order to define a mechanism. In this experiment, a mechanism was determined based on the purified product s melting point. This was accomplished by comparing the acquired melting point with the one provided by Professor Link. (Q1) When 0.252 g of trans cinnamic acid was mixed in 2.5 mL glacial acetic acid and introduced to 0.434g pyridinium tribromide, the resulting product reflects an addition reaction. In general, reactions take place to achieve its lowest Gibb s free energy because it s at this point where a structure is most stable; in this case, the reaction is an addition of bromine into alkenes. (Q2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The melting point range was close to the anti structure, but because it was a widened range it is speculated that the syn structure was also present. (Q9) However, this does not mean the other mechanisms are completely discarded. Upon recrystallizing the pure product, a gross mistake potentially skewed the results; non DI water from the ice bath was introduced to the crystallized product by mistake. Recrystallization of the pure product was redone, but random ions from the ice bath could have infiltrated the crystal lattice of the pure product thereby widening the melting range. Also, the melting range could have been affected by the temperature intervals used; time was running out and the Digi Melt was programmed to increase in intervals of 10°C instead of 5°C. This could have affected the melting range observed significantly; slow and steady probes to be a better method. (Q10) Both the percent yield (106.5%) and recovery (54.75%) are not ideal numbers; ideally, percentages should be close to 100% but not over or under. As mentioned above, (in Q9), a gross mistake occurred where non DI water got into the pure product as it was recrystallizing; the flask s buoyancy caused it to tip over and the non DI water from the ice bath got inside the pure product. This affected the data as electrolytes from the ice bath could now be part of the crystal lattice of the pure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people over the years have theorized as to what Oswald s motive was, from being hired by the FBI, to his love for communism. But in the end the most plausible motive was that he did it to get his name in the history books, and I guess you could say that he succeeded, but only in death. A Lied is a type of German song of the Romantic period, typically for the solo voice with piano accompaniment. Erlkronig is a Lied written for piano and voice by the Austrian composer Franz Schubert in 1815. In contrary, the left hand plays single semibreves. (Bars 112 130) The key then modulates to a new key D minor. The context of the lyrics state that if the boy won t go willingly with the Erlkronig, he will have to take him by force. The boy who is terrified, screams out loud and shortly passes away. During the Erlkronig s part, the melody moves in chromatic steps which expresses the idea that Erlkronig has lost patience and will take the boy by force. This is the climax of the song from pianissimo (pp) to fortississimo (fff). (Bars 130 147) The key returns to the original key signature of G minor. Also, the narrator returns and states the father riding like the wind on his horse and finally reaching the safety he was seeking. His son is dead in his arms. • 15. The Pros And Cons Of Forced Marriage Forced marriage is when one of the two parties involved, this usually being the female, does not consent to the marriage but are forced into it by their family or community. In Australia, forced marriage is illegal but this does not seem to stop people from being taken overseas to be married, so should this practice still continue to be illegal in Australia if it isn t being prevented? In many cultures and religions, marriage is considered a family matter. Parents believe that it is their duty to choose who their child will marry, and by not doing so they would be going against tradition and neglecting this fundamental part of the marriage process (Justice.gc.ca. 2016). By going through with a forced marriage, the daughter or son who is a part of the marriage is seen to be bringing honor to his/her family. This could make the daughter/son feel like she/he is helping their family by going through with the marriage (Rubinstein, 2013). In forced marriages, a lot of women tend to not have a choice and are often abused by their husbands after the ceremony is over. Joelle Mazoud is a first generation Australian Lebanese woman who was forced into marriage at the age of 16. A week after arriving in Lebanon, she met her husband once and was then married. Joelle was left in Lebanon with her new husband. She suffered 11 miscarriages over 8 years and she was constantly being abused (Angel, 2013). Women should not have to suffer under such cruel circumstances just to bring honour to her family. If the young woman or man refuses to go through with the marriage, they are instantly exiled from their family and they are looked down upon by their community as a disappointment. Amina was set to be married at the age of 18 to a man she had never met. Amina refused the forced marriage because she still wanted to study and have a life of her own. As a result, Amina lost all of her relationships with her family and community and was forced to live on her own and become independent (Vidal, 2016). The Ramayana is the ancient version which was written by a sage named Valmiki in 550 B.C.E, featuring a love story between an ideal prince and an ideal woman. It outlines the adventures of Rama in his journey to find his abducted wife Sita. Another, more complex, argument against The Humean Theory of Motivation is written in G.F. Scheuler s The Humean Theory of Motivation Rejected, He explains that, while desires are surely present in reasoning, desires are not solely applicable, and do not have a sole force on motivation. He states that reasoning is done with representations of things, not the things themselves, even when the things being represented are one s own desires(Schueler, 2009). In other words, Scheuler believes that if an individual is is reasoning how to satisfy her desires in accordance to desire belief based reasoning, that the reason is causing the motivation, rather than the desire itself. They were a political organization that reinforced human rights, they were leaders of self defense against a police state that relentlessly brutalized black bodies, and caretakers of poor black communities that were receiving little to no attention by the state. They were an organization in bloom looking to create solidarity and heal within the black community by whatever means necessary. • 28. Contemporary Psychodynamic Authors Contemporary psychodynamic authors define defenses as unconscious mental processes that function to defend against extreme anxiety (e.g. Valliant, 1994). Moreover, defenses are observed as being both protectors against unconscious feelings and relational and cognitive behaviours that protect the self (Cooper, 1998). Currently there is no consensus as to the number of defenses that exist however, in The Ego and the mechanisms of Defense Ana Freud (1936/1986) discusses ten. However, subsequently there has expansion of recognised defences (Kramer 2013). Although, authors vary on the number of defenses that are present, there is a largely an agreement on the role of defenses. The function of these defense mechanisms is to modify internal psychological conditions such as emotions and thoughts by changing the meaning or implication of perceived threats (Kramer 2013). Defenses are utilised differently in borderline personality and comparable disorders and therefore necessitate accurate identification for therapeutic appropriate intervention (Cooper, 1998).
